Reviews:
Fender medium picks have always served me well. They are sturdy, feel good in your hand, and have just the right amount of attack for both rhythm and lead playing. I purchased the Ocean Turquoise set and can attest that they draw the eye, even if you're the only one who notices.Dustin
I personally like the Fender 347 Classic Celluloid (THIN) guitar picks for songs that involve lots of strumming in addition to a softer, quieter sound production as opposed to the Hard picks of the same brand and shape. These are also better for beginning guitarists as they are easier to strum a guitar. Sometimes you just want a quieter pick for certain songs similar to a drum brush drummers use for Jazz or certain songs that are better performed with a quieter, softer sound.irishkale
While I switch back and forth between the type of guitar I play and the thickness of the plectrum, I have been partial to Fender since starting the instrument 30 years ago. This deal is as cheap as they come so far. I've seen several posts that are for just 1 (one, uno!) guitar/bass pick for the same price. Unless it's from a concert by your favorite musician, your wasting your money. I lose one every time, so get a lot, and know beforehand what you need in terms of thickness, the music/tempo at which you play, and the gauge of string instrument that works best for you. An aside: there is an odor when they come in relative "bulk" as will all/most pics. The odor dissipates gradually. One pick doesn't smell but a ziplock bag full of them does. Fast ship. Reviews:
Still getting use to them but so far it's held up nicely to everything I've thrown at it. It's definitely got the grip and the the flexibility together which to me are uncommon in one pick. So with those 2 things and it's versatility I'd definitely rate this 5 stars. It may not be for everyone but I like them so far. As far as the music I'm playing, it falls right where I need to be with playing metal all the way down to simple strumming on the electric and acoustic guitars.Michael
I have been a music teacher for several years now and one of the hardest things for me to teach during lessons is how to grip a pick, mainly because I prefer finger-picking (mainly because I used to have a hard time with picks)… however, the Davas fit nicely in my hand and I don't have to worry about dropping it. I love the multi gauge design and the comfort. In fact, I noticed such a difference in my playing, that I let students try them. The change in their comfort level and ability was so instant, I now give each of my students a Dava pick when they start. I've noticed the students who scoop strings have stopped, and the pick droppers can hold on for an entire song. The only drawbacks are that they cost nearly $1/pick, and if you do a lot of heavy strumming, they get worn down and bend/break quicker than others. I still won't go back to a different brand.HogWildCub
I know we all like something different when it comes to picks but I'm quite impressed with these Dava pics, particularly the yellow ones which seem a little softer and warmer. Great grip for anyone who hangs onto their pic fairly lightly while strumming. A tighter grip stiffens them up for picking. Give 'em a go, they may be what you're looking for.charlie-c-62

Reviews:
I went to my usual music store today to buy strings, try guitars, look at novelties, etc, and I took a few Tortex picks as they have been the best among all those I had tried over the years. I made picks from a dozen materials but none equalled the Tortex. My guitar teacher uses only them or expensive rare wood picks. A friend who has played for about 30 years also thought the Tortex were the best, but he changed his mind instantly after trying the Ultex.First I made him play with a .73mm Tortex on his dreadnought. Then I handed him the .73mm Ultex and he played it for a while. The Furch guitar sounded so much crisper. Once again I gave him the old Tortex but then the acoustic sounded like it had old worn-out strings on a cardboard body.Back to the Ultex and everything in the Furch ringed fresh and shimmering.I knew it would be so because a little before I had tried it on my Epiphone SG and it made the 11-months old strings sound brand new. I noticed I had less strength to use to project a more defined and richer sound. My revered Tortex picks fell from favor immediately. When I was at the music store I took three Tortex cause they had always satisfied and only one Ultex to experiment with it. Well from now on it will be Ultex and nothing else. These picks are out of this world.Ben downwithtaxes
Well, it's just a pick, so, lots of personal subjectivity here. I just really like the feel of the surface of these.Michael

I'm a beginning banjo player. I bought these picks because they are what Jim Pankey uses and he recommends them. They are very comfortable and I am pleased with them so far. The 24 pack is a good deal. I thought it would be good to have some extras in case I want to give some away.rememberduaneallman

Reviews:
It may sound funny, but your choice of plectrum (Pick) has a huge impact on the sound of your guitar! A heavy pick will produce a more mellow sound with less attack, whilst a thinner one will sound brighter with greater attack and have the flexibility that allows for faster picking techniques. Harder materials also impart brightness to your sound and increase attack. I choose Fender Thin picks because they are both hard and flexible and produce a very natural sound, at least to my ears. Fender have been making these forever, and for good reason – Just like the Stratocaster guitar, somethings just work better than others and can't really be improved upon that much. If you're a really heavy hitter, you might find yourself going through a few of these Fender THIN Picks during the course of a gig, but they are cheap enough, and it is a small price to pay for the benefits they bring, in my opinion.mark1964-6979
I bought this pack of Tortugas because I was attracted by the material, I thought it was a new celluloid color. In reality I was wrong, this material is definitely not celluloid, and I also made a mistake ordering the 551 size, which is much smaller than the traditional Fender shape 351 and with a sharp point. However I am getting used to them, even if they are more suitable for an electric guitar than the acoustic I am playing. Grip is good, there is no flexibility in the XH version I bought so it's quite good for fast passages, I would say it sounds slightly brighter than a traditional celluloid plectrum with less attack noise. The material looks beautiful and I already ordered a pack of 351 to compare.cuthbert_1978

13. Clayton Guitar Picks Acetal Small Teardrop .80mm – 12 Pack
Product Details:
Since the 1980s clayton has rocked the guitar world with their amazing selection of guitar picks. clayton manufactures their picks from start to finish in their factory in (appropriately named) talent or. they offer a treasure trove of pick materials shapes and gauges. your pick is a major component of your sound. the shape material and thickness defines your note attack and tone.
Reviews:
If you play a bass guitar with a flat pick, I don't think you could do much better than these in .63mm or .80mm. I like triangle picks because there's no thought process or fiddling around when you grab one while playing: you've got much better odds of landing the pointy part against the string! For me though, these acetal picks have just the right amount of flex (depending on thickness, of course) and they are extremely durable. They last and last, very slow to wear down and the don't chip or break. Good product. I use them for electric and acoustic guitar as well, but playing bass with these is a pleasant experience.kevin
I have used Clayton picks for years. Unfortunately the Wolf ones no longer come in the 1.26mm thickness, so I bought these and the dove ones. If you read reviews, it seems people love them or hate them. I can't stand flexible picks, so these fit the bill. They are slip resistant.Kirk A.
I don't consider myself a "Professional Musician" per se. I play a few gigs here and there but mostly for my own enjoyment and to help to back up others when they ask. Been playing for over 40 years and my old "ham hock hands" don't do well with the smaller size picks. These are a good fit for me and have just enough flexibility that they are good for rhythm playing and still stiff enough to play a few lead licks now and then. I do have to "scuff" them with a light sandpaper now and then when they start to get too slick and become difficult to hold on to when the hands start to sweat. Also the fact that I was able to get them at a coupon discount doesn't hurt either. I can buy a dozen of these from MF for what I would have to pay for buying five of them individually some music stores.Bo
14. Everly Star Grip Guitar Picks (50 Picks) 1.14 Mm Purple
Product Details:
Have you ever owned a guitar pick long enough to actually wear it out? you will now.the genius of the star picks is in their simplicity. everly took a standard 351 shape guitar pick, cut out a star shape in the middle, registered the patent and have been changing the lives of guitar players one pick at a time ever since. star picks are available in popular gauges from paper thin to hard as nails and in different colors (see options in the drop down menu). since there are no major modifications to the standard shape, the picks feel as familiar as the old standby. now you'll never drop your picks again.
Reviews:
I really like these picks. The thumb and finger make skin contact through the star-shaped hole. For some reason this works for me to almost eliminate pick dropping. It also gives a tactile point of reference when holding the pick. You know exactly where the pick is between the thumb and finger. The hole also acts as a pivot point if your are changing between the blunt side and the point of the pick. Not everyone likes these picks, but come to think of it, I don't like everyone. Give 'em a try and remember to choose your friends wisely.Joe Picker
I used to hole-punch the centers of my picks to help with grip. The star shaped hole on Star Picks does it one better by adding little teeth that grip even better. I have liked these for years and usually bought them singly or in packs of a dozen because that's the way they came. A bag of 50 for this price is terrific. After trying many gauges, I settled on the 0.60 thickness with 0.73 now and then, so I bought a bag of each. Like I said, if you already like these picks, buying them 50 at a time is great. I haven't seen it offered that way anywhere else.Fretts
I have pretty dry hands and dropping picks became an unwelcome pastime. I found my first Star Grip picks in a small music shop in Vancouver when i bought my 12-string. At the time i bought 12 of them – about 8 years ago. Over time my supply dwindled to 3 that i kept in my pocket. When one of the three broke, i vowed to find replacements – although none of the stores i frequented carried them. Until i found Musician's Friend and the rest is history.Jeep
15. D'addario Assorted Pearl Celluloid Guitar Picks (10 Pack, Medium)
Product Details:
Celluloid is one of the most popular guitar pick materials today. available in a wide variety of shapes, colors and thicknesses, celluloid is known for providing a natural feel and warm, fat tone. a man-made material, celluloid was first introduced in the early 1900's as a substitute for natural tortoise shell picks.
Specifications:
Reviews:
I've used these picks in the past on my SG and I have found that they tend to wear down very easily. I found I would end up only getting 1 to 2 hours playing time max per pick and for me this is not good. If you are into metal music or you play a lot with thicker strings do not use these because you will just eat right through them within a couple days. I would recommend tortex picks to the shedder who plays a lot.Tyler

I have small fingers and tried the size small first. Out of the three only one could be used on my ring finger, even after attempting to reshape them.I ordered the medium size next to see if they would work. They fit my index and middle finger but needed to be adjusted because they dug into my nail cuticle. I used my birds perch to reshape the pic after letting it sit in boiled water for 30 seconds. It helped some what but it still put pressure on the cuticle, but was bearable.. I won't order these again as they are sold now in pkgs of three the same size. Would like to see the problem with cuticle pressure fixed in the design, then I would order again.Bronco1
First the bad. They're expensive! They're also very difficult to size to you fingers. Unlike most plastic finger picks, which will soften very quickly in less than boiling water to enable forming to your finger size. These required a fairly lengthy boil with wedges inserted to open the pick. Yes,l purchased the largest size. They were very tight on my large fingers. Now the good. To me, they work like a long finger nail. I can feel the string with my finger tip and still get a nice sharp, clear note. I wear these reversed from a regular metal or plastic finger pick. Like for claw hammer banjo, which these would work well for also.601thompsonhouse
Finger pickers can use Fred Kelly finger picks as substitute for thin, brittle natural fingernails. Some players may need to modify them for a more comfortable fit, such as in the photo. Left, index finger, as received new, right, on middle finger, as modified w/Dremel. Works for me, may or may not work for others. Otherwise, a fine product.DD26RET

Reviews:
This is a great idea and these picks are great. My problem with them is the largest ones are too small and very uncomfortable. I tried hot water but that did nothing. I will have to try almost boiling water to see if that does the trick. If it does, I would change my comment and rating! My rating would change to a 5 star!Chip
I bought small, medium and large sizes to find ideal fit. I like a snug fit, but not cutting off circulation. Smells were definitely too tight, but I put them in hot water for a while and then fit to my finer for decent fit but still a bit too tight. Same with mediums (not very moldable with hot water). Large size was perfect out of the package. For reference, I'm 5-11 and wear a size 10.5 to 11 on ring finger.Mike
