Fender Hard Shell Guitar Case For Sale (2024 Update)

I purchased this item to protect my Gibson Les Paul Custom Signature Series Guitar. As reviewed, the interior is extremely plush. The exterior looks quite dependable for all intent and purposes. Like others noted, the points of contention are the metal pieces attaching the handle preventing a 5 star rating. It is illogical to spend so much time on every detail "except" the parts supporting ALL the weight of the instrument. It appears that with a given amount of weight shift, the support brackets may snap off allowing the case to fall down in the direction of the headstock and potentially cause damage from impact. Since this case will very rarely see time outside of my home, I feel fairly certain the few times I need to transport my axe, I will be careful.1amun_re

Cheap shell covered with vinyl. Cheap handle. Cover is falling off where the case curves in. Stitching is a joke, not real. It should sell for about $40. At least it fits my guitar. Not even close in quality to a Road Runner for about the same price.nolens

i ordered this with intentions of getting the most for my money. I don't have big bucks to spend, but I wanted certain things and I got what I hoped for. I wanted enough length to accommodate the longer-than-typical headstock on my LP copy Bradley. The measurements were clearly lined out. The rest of the fit was perfect and plush. My only criticism is the metal bracket that secures the nice handle seems a little thin, but I expected there to be a little give-and-take somewhere, for this price. I'm pretty handy and will figure out a way to reinforce it. If not for this I'd give it 5 stars! FYI, Standard Shipping meant US Post Office, at least in my case. The Fender Jumbo Acoustic Case is pretty amazing considering it was $69! Lid and latch alignment are spot on. Interior is plush, clean and padded in the right spots. Outside there is slight tolex separation at side seam and slight glue exposure along bottom edge seam but, overall very clean tight workmanship. It fits my Yamaha jumbo very well. Plenty durable for my purposes – going from the house to the car.yawnotec

Purchased this case for my Fender Precision Bass. Mostly, will be kept in my studio, and occasionally on a few short gigs. Case seems sturdy, and I like the compartment size suitable for a strap, cable, etc. Also features a locking latch which is very handy. Pricewise, its a very nice case for my needs, without going into more expensive flight cases for touring. Very satisfied and should last for quite a while. Would buy this product again. Decent case for the money. Dimensions are a little off from whats advertised. Lower bout width is around 13-1/4 instead of 13-1/2 so my BC Rich Eagle fits a little snug. Overall, no more than I use it, itll work. Sure beats paying $300 for the actual BC Rich case. Also, if your headpiece sets at a steeper angle, it will put pressure on the headpiece. Depth is more for a Fender style headpiece.xv1700at3

Not worthy of being called fender. It's like I bought a knock off brand. This was supposed to be for a Christmas present and so I ordered the dark blue one. It had the same issue of the leather falling off on the inside. The only thing keeping it together was a thin amount of glue. It was falling apart. So we returned it for another one. And got this light blue one. The problem was worse. We are having to glue it on ourselves. But honestly this is unacceptable. Not only was the leather unglued but there was several holes in the outside, and the fender logo inside is just plastic wrap on top of a metal button. My husband is dealing with it because I got it for him but I expected better. He loves fender, and I notice quality details right away and this wasn't it. They need to reevaluate what they are doing to save money. Definitely would not gonna buy again or recommend to anyone that wants a case that will last a long time. I purchased the tweed/red case and really love it. I had read some negative review in the past so I was a little hesitant but the one I got arrived in perfect condition (quality materials, latches all line up, etc.) and just looks fantastic. One thing I would like others to know (should be more common knowledge and the case should come with a small instruction sheet, for which I would give a Fender/G&G a full 5/5 stars), is that at first you might think the case is a little small because of the padding — it is actually fine as long as you know that you need to "pre-squish" the sturdy padding and then properly insert the guitar (and also let it get settled for a bit). Indeed, this particular tweed case has very sturdy padding where the headstock and bottom of the guitar touch (also a little on the sides). This is a good thing in the long run but at first it appears as if the guitar might not fit (either a Tele or Strat with regular size headstock). There are forums explaining that it is best to put the head stock in first and then slowly push the bottom in. I would also add another very important step before that… With a little patience and elbow grease (but careful not to overdo it), spend a bit of time carefully squishing down the padding on both ends. After a little while, check (and re-check as necessary) to see if the guitar is getting easier to fit in (be especially careful with the high "e" string tuner when test fitting to avoid getting bad pressure on it). Your patience will pay off when you get to the point where the guitar fits very snug all around (without any loose movement). I suppose they could use more squishy material for the padding for an easier initial fit but it seems that would risk a loose fit in the long term. Since these cases are more for vintage vibe than, say, super-duty TSA-approved for heavy travel, it is more good than bad that the padding needs a bit of initial coaxing to get the best fit so it stays more snug long term.JOSE

This case is not what I expected from a G&G case. I've owned numerous G&G cases over the years and currently own two that came with my 70th anniversary Broadcaster and AVRI 62 Telecaster and this case is not the same quality as those. The first thing I noticed is that this case is extremely light. That's because it's made of thin, flimsy material and the top will flex under light pressure.The overall quality is nowhere close to the older G&G cases; tolex, latches, handle…everything. Also, my guitars fit very snugly in the older cases and with this one, my Tele has room to slide back and forth about a quarter of an inch. These cases aren't bad, they're just not great quality and what you'd expect from G&G. In my opinion they're a little overpriced for what you get, too. Also, be aware that the "orange" plush interior is closer to red than orange and does not look like the photos.Adam

I received one of these cases with me Fender American Elite Shawbucker Stratocaster. I've loved the case, no problems and has alot of protection. I decided to buy a "beater" Fender Player Strat that I didn't have to worry as much about as my other premium guitars. It unfortunately does not come with a case. I was a little worried it wouldn't fit the same, but it's perfect. This case can definitely take a beating and protect your precious guitar. I highly recommend this case if you need a case for a Stratocaster.Michael

This case fit my MIJ Jazzmaster like a dream! I was able to get a discount with Musician's Friend as the previous case I was going to buy was on backorder. This case has far better specs than the SKB case I was going to buy and its well worth the money. Supports the neck properly, and has a nice compartment. The only thing I wish this case had more of was I wish the compartment was big enough to fit extra pickguards. Its a minor gripe and still has plenty of room for tuners, strings, picks, and the trem arm. Bottom Line: If you have a Jazzmaster that you're going to travel with or you want to keep it safe, then this is a must buy!Tim

The plush lining was nice and it fit well, Without a guitar strap. I did not like the metal feet on the bottom and back of the case. They slid on smooth surfaces and one of them had been hit during manufacturing or packaging and was loose inside the back. These feet were not screwed in, just held in with a push in rivet. I replaced all 8 of them with screw in rubber feet from home depot. Much better.Kerry

I love the fact that it has 2 storage compartments with lids and it fits my strat pretty well . This is definitely not a case that is meant to be taken on the road , but it is perfect for keeping my guitar safe and dust free in my home . Some of the seams in the pleather don't line up and it does seem a bit flimsy but I expected that at this price point . So if you just want to keep your guitar safe and dust free in your home, get it . But if you plan to use this for gig's you should look elsewhere .PAUL

The guitar fits perfectly. A solid tough case I'll use gigging. I came in for strings and fell for a used Epiphone Sheraton. The crew looked and could not locate the OHSC it came with. They sent me home with a soft case, so I could go home while they continued to look. I came back a few days later to check. The store manager and crew looked one last time. I offered to help pay for a new one since I purchased a used guitar and case. They ordered a new case that was sent to my front door two days later and gave me a gift card. That was above and beyond. I needed a road case for my new Epiphone ES-335 guitar. These guitars are famous for sounding great, but being fragile, so I wanted a good strong case that would be a perfect fit for the guitar. It was vital that the guitar not shift inside the case. This really does the job. It's light and strong; the latches and hardware are sturdy and well made. The padding is soft and plush, and unlike some cases, there was almost no residual odor from glue and manufacturing processes, and that dissipated almost immediately. I expect ES339's to be increasing in popularity because of their physical trimmed down size and pickup options for a true archtop with a centerblock, a la the venerable ES335! Unfortunately with the vast majority of the Epiphone product line being made in Sejung China now, it is just unrealistic to expect Epi/Gibson to continue sourcing those wonderful TKL hardshell cases from Canada. I have had some Japanese- and Korean-made guitars in these cases for between 10 and 15 years, and they have been through you know what and back, with every kind of roadie and stage crew in between. Access cases makes the current versions for Epi(and also Yamaha), and the first and most important thing you notice, which you should when you invest in a hardshell case, is the perfect fit. In all fairness, the plush interior on the Access cases are every bit as thick as the TKL's, but they lack a bit of the plush padding on the underside of the archtop lid, a feature the TKL's that EPI had made did not have. You have to purchase a pro-level TKL case in order to get one with a true archtop lid, and then we're looking at cases averaging twice the price of these. Also on the positive side, these cases do not have an overt glue smell the minute they are opened, which requries them being "aired out" and sprayed down with Fabreze. The two biggest negatives against this particular case are it's availability; they did not ship cases when they started selling guitars, and the initial guitar inventory was almost all pre-sold. They are catching up, and MF is doing a good job of keeping folks posted on the availability. The second negative is price/percentage; I personally just don't believe a decent case should cost 25% or more of the retail you pay for the instrument. Given the fit issues and such, I think the real solution would be to provide the case with the purchase and simply raise the overall price about half of what they are asking for the case. If Yamaha can do it for their acoustics which have unusual fit and size issues, Epiphone with all their unit volume could certainly manage it.arch69er

Seriously, this is probably the only option, but the good news it it's a great case: snug, softly-lined, well-constructed, and a solid way to take care of that guitar, so it plays well 10 years down the road. Dog-proof. Kindergartener-proof. Closet-proof. Trunk-proof. Proof that you take your rig seriously. Proof to the stage manager that you want to get around. Proof that you don't mine if your guitar smells of silica. Proof that you understand that a 339 neck is not a bolt-on.Sean

I ordered my Epiphone ES-339 and would not consider moving the guitar around without a case, or even leaving it on a stand in my studio. I read good reviews on the Epiphone hardshell case, and figured this would fit better than some aftermarket cases. I didn't want the guitar moving around or being too tight. I made the right choice. guitar is well protected inside the grey plush interior, storage compartment is small but that's the way it is on these 'profile' style cases. I use a gig bag for chords, accessories, etc. so I was not concerned with a large storage compartment, just maybe enough room for a strap, capo, cleaning cloth, strings, and some picks. This case will do fine, and with the cost point of my Epiphone ES-339 on sale, it is very reasonably priced considering what most cases of this quality cost. There are no noticeable 'bad' odors or chemical smells, maybe like a new car, or new office chair etc. I am very happy with the quality, fit and finish of the case. All hardware/fasteners are securely assembled and look very nice. No loose skin, or broken stitching.John E. Quest

Good quality. Like that the storage compartment has a door. Some cases dont have covers for the storage areas and stuff can move around and scratch guitar. The outside of the case can slip out of your hands so I put some grip tape in the areas I tend to lift the case from. Bottom line great case. I am getting another.Patrick G

I bought this case because I also bought a new Charvel San Dimas, and this was my first "expensive" guitar I've splurged on. The case has the ability to lock, and comes with a pair of keys. The guitar fits amazingly and the headstock area is large enough to fit pretty much any strat style guitar.John

The case is fine if you just want to keep your So-Cal/San Dimas safe while under a bed or in a closet. Just a low-end SKB case, really. Its rather flimsy, and the hinges are not built to last. On mine, the lid doesn't line up when closing it without some manipulation. I wouldn't trust it for traveling or taking the guitar out of the house. You can hear/feel the guitar moving around if you gently shake the closed case – it fits the perimeter of the guitar just fine but there's not enough cushioning when closed to hold the guitar firmly. Its nice to have the Charvel logo, but there are better Strat cases that will fit and protect much better than this.GoldTopBob
