Best Guitar Amp Speakers (2024 Update)

I play gigs every week, and use Crate 120 watt GFX-212, I play a seven string guitar and the bottom end has always been muddy. The speakers broke up and I contacted Eminence to see if I should use the Texas heat or the swamp thang. The said these were great speakers but for the seven string they recommended this speaker. I took there suggestion and am extremely pleased. I can turn the bass all the way up and the low B string rings clear, the highs are clear was well. Overdrive screams like it should. The clean setting is so clear I can not believe it. The one thing I was not prepared for about the speakers is they are about twice as loud as my old ones. They are however thee times the weight of my old speakers,but well worth the extra weight of my cabnets. I would highly recommend these speakers to anyone. These have a seven year warranty from the manufacturer as well.The Boz

Had a Superchamp X2 and decided to pick up a Superchamp mini stack to use for jamming with friends. Like the range of sounds and moderate volume of the amp, but felt like the shrill Celestion in the 1×12 cabinet could be improved on. I never used the EV 12 but wanted to see if this take on that speaker could round out the sound. This guy is heavy… reminded of lugging around the old JBLs. I added fiberglass to the cabinet and mounted the big guy. Even with minimal breakin, this thing sounds great. Big tight bottom, clear as a bell mids and highs with no ice pick. And so efficient it makes the little Superchamp louder. This speaker sounds like it puts out the best your amp can give it without breaking a sweat. Overall: Overall: These speakers are an amazing value! They sounds just as good as any other FRFR speakers I've seen, and at the price, they're an absolute no-brainer. Designed for guitar multi-fx, but literally everything I've thrown at them sounds incredible. I've got two, and I run them in my backyard to play music. They are very loud, and have no problem filling a large space with sound.Features: They're a speaker in a box. Not a ton of features to be expected, although there are 2 volume-controllable XLR-1/4'' inputs, which is pretty nice. They've also got an output for daisy-chaining, but I have them running stereo, so I have no need for this.Quality: Pretty decent, especially for the price! The plastic casing seems sturdy enough to trust at gigs, although I haven't had the chance to yet. The metal grill is sturdy aswell, and has yet to dent, even after I've gotten my hands on a pair.Manufacturer Support: I've never had to contact the Manufacturer.Sound: Amazing! For a $300 speaker, these things really sound incredible. The day I got them, I literally sat there listening to my guitar's reverb tail off for what seemed like forever. Overall: I shopped for months comparing the Alto, Headrush, EV, and several other options. I actually purchased the Line 6 cabinet and was tremendously disappointed in it's output and tone. I tried a headrush 112 and absolutely loved it. People will say its really bassy but I prefer it, here's why. In the age of the new modelers taking over, some of us are still used to hearing that "amp like" air moving behind us and the headrush 12 makes me feel like there's still an amp on stage with me. Tip: if you have an issue with the bass, clean up your presets a tad: there are several ways to mitigate it (low cut on the amp models, low cut in the eq chain, low cut block in the chain, low cut on effects, and so on). Some will even say that adding low cut will screw your front-of-house sound, but thats not true either for the Helix, you just need to split your signal paths so that you can enjoy the speaker as a monitor and let the sound tech also do his job. I have used it all weekend as a monitor and also as my main stage amp, PLENTY of power. Im going to buy another just to run a stereo setup. Couldnt be happier. I do wish they made a speaker cover for it though.Johnathan

( DISCLAIMER) Let me start off by saying that maybe it was just my unit that I had, or that I possibly never figured out how to dial the modeler I was using properly. Everyone is different and perhaps the settings I was using was not correct for the cabinet's character. But that being said, I found this cabinet to be a total let down. I bought one of these to go with my Kemper because I wanted a budget friendly solution and I had heard great things about this unit over the web. I kept the Headrush for about 2 weeks before returning it. I never once got a usable sound out of it. It's built really well, and I like what they were going for, but the unit just sounds bad in my opinion. It's Way too bassy, all the clean sounds sound like they have a towel over the speaker, or it has a cold, and there's no way to get rid of it either by using the contour feature or through adjusting EQs through the modeler. The high gain sounds were the worst. It really lacked any real definition and it was hard to tell the difference between a 5150 profile, and a Plexi. IT also has a weird shrill sound out of it at louder gain volumes which was odd. The last thing that killed it for me was that it had an annoying hiss sound, which could of just been my unit but it was super unpleasant. To conclude. I can't recommend this unit out there to anyone. It's not a terrible unit, but I just feel like there are better options out there. IF you are on a really tight budget and can't afford anything else, its okay, but I would recommend getting the 108 model of this. It's a little smaller, but it has the same sound quality, plenty loud, it's cheaper, and I feel like that would be a better purchase. That way you wont be spending an extra $100 on this to see if you like it or not. If you can save up a little more cash I would HIGHLY!! recommend the Laney LFR 112 Powered Cab. It's a much better cabinet, and is in that same more budget friendly price range, and just sounds fantastic!ToneMage

This speaker is ideal for the lead guitarist who needs to project well in the mix at gig volume in a band setting. It is not the ideal choice if you use it at home for practice and noodling. There are a lot better speakers that will enhance your tone at home — think Greenback, Creamback or similar. I have these mixed in two 4×12 cabs. Alone, the V30's highs are shrill and will drive you nuts. To maximize the advantages of this speaker, I suggest you mix them in an X pattern. I have mine mixed with G12T-75s in one cab and G12H in the other. Both sound great at any volume and with the V30s cut through the mix at gig volume. In short, this is a great speaker for the gigging lead guitarist who must project his sound. Works best at high volume which it handles with ease. This speaker's harsh tone can be tamed when paired with another speaker which will improve your tone. It works well with every speaker I paired it with. If you're not in a band or looking for killer tone with lower watt heads or just lower volume, I suggest you look at another speaker as there are better sounding speakers. This speaker is all about the gigging guitarist cutting through the mix.Ron

Not a good choice for a warm amp without good high frequencies ! My Jet City 2212c amp has a bright attack using a Legend 1258 speaker and even brighter with the stock custom Eminence speaker but this SPEAKER fixed the harsh attack and added nice harmonics I did not hear before from this amp ! I had my eyes opened when I tested the Jet City amp with the vintage 30 that came in my BadCat Cougar 5watt tube combo , wow what a difference ! This amp gets mediocre reviews with the stock speaker , not mediocre anymore and can cut up the treble or presents control for more of a Vox top boost amp tones ! It gets overdriven to clean like Tom Petty tones now ! Careful choosing a Cream back Celestion the EQ on my G12 65M cuts midrange noticeably which I did not like but it sure sounds good too ! You need beautiful midrange go with the Vintage 30 no question !golddust742

I had long heard about the celestion vintage 30 but only recently decided to see what the hype was all about. I can say that this speaker has truly made a huge difference in sound. Each note emanating from my guitar is now rich and full. This speaker makes the clean channel of my amp sound warm and chimey. And the gain channel packs much more punch. Without belaboring the point, this speaker is worth every penny and will inspire you. Now I know what the hype is all about.Gary

I put two of these in my Marshall 1936 2×12, wow what an incredible improvement over the old G12-T75 speakers that Marshall has used for so many years. Celestion hit it out of the park with the Creambacks. If you are looking for a Greenback alternative that supports higher wattage, this is the one to get. It actually sounds like a mix between a Greenback and Vintage 30 with all the negatives of each speaker removed. Imagine the vintage Greenback sound with higher wattage and a tighter modern bottom end, rounded but pleasing top, and those Greenback mids. I was so blown away by them when I hit the first chord. It strikes the perfect balance between vintage and modern sound and you can do anything with these speakers. I play high-gain metal myself and they were perfect for what I was looking for.NK

I've got 2 M65s in an Avatar 2×12 closed back, and another M65 in a little cheapo Bugera 1×12 closed back. Both cabs sound fantastic with the G12M65 Creambacks. Primary amp is the Marshall DSL20hr. I struggled a bit to find the right speaker for this head, but the M65 is the perfect match. No fizz, no harsh, no spikes, crystal clear, lively, balanced. Couldn't be happier. Definitely my new favorite guitar speaker. MF got them shipped to me quickly. Very pleased!JKC

I use V30s and G12M greenbacks in my 412 but wanted a higher wattage 212 combo than the greenback. The V30 and Creamback didn't have that magic in a 212. Was able to quickly compare different pairs of speakers and found severe magic in the 16ohm GT12 and Creamback. Note the 8 ohm GT12s are junk.Cranklin

I've been through many, many 12s for Blackface style speakers. These are my faves. For good 60s tones in country and rock with a BF amp these guys work great. Take pedals well. Not shrill or muddy in my experience. Solid surfy bass. Smooth treble. 120 watts which is triple what I would ever throw at em. For a Deluxe or a Pro in a honkytonk bar, these are just the ticket.edol9871

For me the tones of these are somewhere in between American and British. I use these mainly in a 2×10 cab for a fender vibroverb style amp. Vs the Oxford speakers these have a lil more mid focus and rounded highs that work much better with higher gain tones. I also use these with my Marshall origin 50 set relatively clean to get a slightly bigger bottom end than V30s.RockinJohnson

I bought this speaker in the 16ohm version to replace a v30 in my orange ppc1x12. I love the v30 but I mainly use a 100w Marshall DSL100HR and the v30 by itself couldn't handle all that wattage since it's only 60watts. So I decided to go with the swamp thang cause a little more defined low end sounded like a good idea as I play a 7 string ltd (fishman fluence pups) half the time. But I was worried I would loose the highs that we need for attack in high gain situations as well as playing clean which I do very often also. But now that I've played tgrough this speaker I can say that is not a problem whatsoever. This speaker has twice the highs and twice the lows as my v30. Probably a little less midrange but since it's such a powerful speaker it doesn't feel like it's relying on mids the cut through. Full disclosure I've only had the speaker a few hours and played through it a little over an hour but if it sounds this good outta the box I'm confident things will only get better. It's a great sounding speaker in my opinion that would complement any style/set up. I plan on buying an empty Luke 2x12C cab from seismic audio soon so i can pair the ST and the v30 which im lookong forward to. But in the meantime im in no huge hurry since the ST sounds so good by itself.Michael I.

We replaced the stock speaker in a Fender 40 Champ with this. Everybody in the store was astounded and took turns playing through that amp after this upgrade.The local Jazz guru played chord-melody arrangements and told us that from his "old-school" perspective, this was one of the best sounding speakers for Jazz he'd ever heard. (he's over 60 and has played every kind of music through every kind of amp.)We all noticed how it brings out the notes of complex chords with definition and clarity.Then the younger shredders got hold of it. Even when pushed into ridiculous distortion we heard a good balance between tight-clear lows and defined yet sweet highs. There is plenty of high-end for clarity, but it never seemed harsh. All that from an OPEN BACK solid-state amp!The customer, who plays a wide variety of material in several cover bands, was delighted.He uses a Roland GT100 preamp before the amp and demonstrated a huge variety of classic hit tones he uses with his bands. Because he has TWO of these Fender 40 champ amps (for stereo) it was easy to A-B the two amps, which were identical except for the speakers.This speaker is noticeably LOUDER than stock, which can be good or bad depending on your needs. We spent a good hour (or more) listening to a wide variety of classic guitar tones through his system and everyone noticed the improved clarity, definition, articulation. I used this speaker as a replacement for the Jensen stock speaker in a '64 Fender Custom Deluxe Reverb amp ..seems like a better made speaker, made by Eminence, designed by Allesandro. a U.S. made speaker with a bit more headroom and bottom end..the only downside all the bolt holes didn't line up..it's still in there though ..drwest845

I have always wanted a stereo amp but they were crazy heavy and expensive. After getting my HX Stomp I had to have a stereo amp so I figured why not keep it in the fmaily? This amp is great for my aoustic and my electric guitars. The stereo effect is HUGE. I have a room full of classic amps but I'm starting to wonder why when the PC 212 can sound like all of the…times 2! Also, I don't have to worry about tubes. If you want a big sound this is it. It is a little large but I can carry it one handed and I'm not a kid. I love this thing.BillyHell

I really wanted to love this cab. All the reviews are stellar but yet the forums have rumblings of some folks complaining that they sound like they have a blanket over them. Unfortunately I now fall into the latter category. This cab is inherently dark and has no "air" even with a post amp EQ. I've been using modeling since the POD Bean so I know how to achieve a good tone with them, but for some reason this one isn't letting me. Perhaps I just got a dud. I may just get another Laney FR112 and use them for stereo. For the positives, the cab is sturdy and the enhanced stereo imaging is really cool. I don't know how useful it would be live, but it does a great job. It's also plenty loud enough to keep up with just about any drummer/bass player. I love Line6 and will continue to support and buy their products, but this one just isn't for me.AJB

I heard a twin with a 15 in a store and was amazed by how if filled the room with very balanced, clear sound. However, I own a number of heads, and these days seek lighter equipment, so a separate cab worked for me. I cut a baffle board and installed it in a 1-12" Laney combo cab, and closed about 80% of the rear. At first, it sounded awful. But I played through it at moderate volume for a few hours, and the raspiness was gone. It is exactly the full sound I need. Be advised that I play with moderate volume and limited distortion–sort of Garcia/Betts/Mick Taylor. I do not know how these speakers would react to more aggressive styles.Rich not rich

I have had the 15" Fullback in a 120w solid-state twin style amp (1980 Randall Commander I) and it sounds phenomenal. It is a mid-focused speaker, but does a good job of allowing the voice of the amp to come through. It is sensitive enough to pick up all the nuances of your playing, which is a plus in my book. It really takes overdrive and volume well. Some speakers get piercing and some fart out in a bad way, this is a champ. It will not give you the giant low end that some 15's like the Big Ben do, but that wasn't what I was going for. Overall very happy with this speaker.MP

I bought the Fullback to try in my Princeton Reverb 1×15 combo cabinet. It sounds perfect. It has tight bass, not the usual overpowering bass from after market, efficient speakers. It has this mid-range bite that works so well with BF/SF amps. It wasn't overly bright on top. It sounded perfect in the Princeton. I tested it with the Fender Excelsior too… I left the speaker in the Princeton 1×15 cabinet. It is a pine cabinet with a birch-ply baffle, but about the same height and width as the Excelsior. With the Excelsior it sounded almost the same as with the Princeton. There was something different about it in the Excelsior. I think the Excelsior has a little more dirty sound than the Princeton and isn't as bright on top. The speaker still had the mid-range bite though. The speaker sounded very good in both amps. It sounded clear on cleans and broke up really nice. It is a mid-rangy speaker, which I like. In a band situation this is exactly what you want, tight bass (so you are not in the bassist's territory) and mid-range punch (to cut through the mix).kray

I'm running this with my 5153 lbx head and it sounds great. Can only compare to my peavey 1×12 with a greenback…the cab speakers seem to have less bass response but it was easy to bring that up. Overall, I would recommend to anyone looking for a great budget cab!Aaron C

Some genius at Line 6 decided to knock 6 cents off the cost to build this otherwise very nicely built cab by using cheesey nuts on the speaker mounts THEN using red loctite on them so you can never change out the speakers without stripping the mounts.Ruairi

I have one of these and the thing is tough that's for sure. I've had this particular one for about 6 yrs or so and Its been all over the place. You can really dial in some great tones with it. The classic line 6 tones are top notch in these pre-usb era models, true grit , smooth, and triply if you're into the acid rock type. Plus if you like earlier Metal this was the amp most young musicians were playing in the late 90's. I kind of prefer it over a lot of other amps strung about that may be because I am familiar with it though I think its because it reminds me of that time era and the sound is comforting . Really, I guess it depends on what you are using it for. Its quick and versatile. But… It is what it is and it will never be a Marshal JCM or one of the Fender Classics there is no substitute for them and they're not trying to be, but its a great intermediate-pro model and for $100 you cant beat these second edition Spiders. With so much equipment using V30's, you might be wondering why you can get "that tone". Well, it's more influenced by your speakers than you think. Everyone considers their pickups or amp for shaping their tone, but the speakers have more to do with it, and if you're going for the Hell's Bells of speakers, these are the ones he used..J. Davis

I have an Eric Clapton Tremolux – loaded with the stock Celestion Heritage G12-65 speaker. Assumed being an expensive amp that it would be a great speaker. I built a cabinet and loaded it with a WGS ET65 speaker which sounds great. For grins I plugged in the cabinet to the EC Tremolux. I was amazed at how much better the speaker sounded than the stock G12-65! The G12-65 distorted at even medium volumes, but the ET65 was clean and wonderful. As you know one of the problems with lower wattage amps is the clean headroom, this speaker not only goes a long way to help that out, but also sounds better. Still amazed how much better the WGS speaker sounds then the Celestion. And it's louder which is surprising to me as they are really close to the same spl rating.seeker123

I bought this speaker a little over a year ago now. I can't say enough about it. It sounds amazing. Clear note definition, sounds nice clean or dirty. It is nice and broken in now and it just sounds even better. When I first got it I stuck it in my Fender Blues Deluxe what a difference. It got rid of all that flabbiness. I was just getting ready to do a mod to my Fender Blues deluxe so I stuck it in a Ashdown amp I had for a back up and man did it turn that amp into something worth playing. When I finished my mod and stuck it in the Blues Deluxe, WOW I see why Fender uses it on the EC tremolux. It is perfect for blues. It also handles rock and country very well. It's an all around good speaker. I highly recommend it. Get one you will be so glad you did.Boomer

Don't underestimate the neo creamback for its weight. Once this speaker is broken in. Look out. I mixed this speaker up with 2 v30s and 2 neo creambacks in my Marshall 4×12. This will be my set up for years to come.Jeff V.

This is a very light weight speaker, that performs like a tiger. I mounted this speaker in an old early 1960s webcor reel to reel tape recorder cabinet that I gutted, works beautifully. It probably weighs around 12 pounds total. The only problem is it makes me want another one.Woody

I use a Marshall DSL20HR through a Blackstar cab with a Celestion Seventy 80 in it. I could only get a usable sound by turning the presence all the way down and the treble most of the way down. It was too ice-picky otherwise. I replaced the Seventy 80 with this Greenback, and what a difference. It warmed up the sound considerably without muddying it in the least.Bates

Overall this is my favorite Celestion speaker. I am running through a boutique Swart MOD 84 VOX inspired 15-watt amp and this speaker works perfectly! It sounds great clean with chimey and sparkling highs. Very articulate and touch sensitive. When overdriven it has the characteristic velvety smooth mids and tight bass. This is the sound of mid 60s through the 70s Rock and British Blues. AMS has great deals and payment plans to help musicians of all kinds. AMS shipped quickly. This is a great speaker. I have them in a 2×12 and use it with a Marshall JCM 800 50 W head and a Orange OR 15 head. The vintage tones are great. Really, off the map great. I see why Hendrix, ACDC, EVH and others rave about this speaker. I've experimented with lots of speakers, mixing different speakers and the Greenbacks give me a wow moment everytime. The cleans are crisp and clear. The distorted tone is vintage, very natural, and pure magic. Glorious! Sounds great with my les paul and strat — any guitar and any head. Best for classic rock vintage tones, blues, country or jazz. Metal players should look at something else. The only thing is they are rated 25W which can limit how you use it. Still, well worth the trade-0ff. If you like your amp but are struggling finding that tone we all search for, look at trying these speakers before you buy a new amp. The impact to your tone by adding these speakers is huge. This will upgrade any rig. Highly recommended.Ron

Finally decided to replace my old green board Blues Junior (including billm mods) with a new version IV. Fender’s improvements to tone and reverb are excellent, though I would have preferred an adjustable bias for the power valves. My first observation was an unusual mix of Groove Tubes in the preamp (V1 JJ, V2 Sovtek and Shuguang for the V3 PI) so I installed my own set of preferred OEM valves from years of research and ‘tube rollling’. The Groove Tubes sounded much better – smooth, rich overall tone and a more punchy bass response, and the output valves are perfectly balanced. I will pay the extra and replace with the same Groove Tubes in the future. Probably worth noting that Fender still ship their Amps to the UK set to the EU harmonised mains voltage of 230V, when the mains transformer has a dedicated 240V tap. Overall very impressed with the new version and would highly recommend it.Keith G.

Overall: I'm mostly a bass player who has been getting into guitar more and more as I build a small home studio on the cheap. My experience with guitar amps has been a Fender Mustang 2 and a Line 6 Flextone III, both great amps for modeling and the Mustang is a fun little practice amp but I wanted to try effects pedals and I had always wanted to try tubes. I've been with the amp for a couple of weeks now as I build my pedal collection and I'm very happy with the Blues Jr iv for that purpose and more. The 12" Greenback and the 15 watts are more than enough power for the studio, the fat boost is great when you get into overdrive territory and while I haven't played out with it yet I'm sure I could play small venues using only this amp. As a pedal platform I can get a very clean tone and let the pedals do the heavy lifting or simple turn all the pedals off and hit the fat switch and crank up the gain a bit for that natural Fender tube overdrive. Still leaning a lot about the tones and the possibilities and I'm extremely satisfied with this amp. zZounds and Fender do it again!Rocky

This is a follow up on My last review. I took mine to Top Gear in La Mesa Ca and had Tim put a stand by switch in mine as well as a better input Jack. He also changed out my red Led to a Blue one. I put the rubber feet on myself. It was super easy. Now this amp is like a boutique amp, It not only sounds incredible it looks super cool. That Blue LED is cool looking it brings out the color of the amp even better now.Faze

These are not for you if you desire speaker breakup. There isn't a tube amp made that will accomplish that. You can get all the tune saturation you want. I'd call these cleaner than clean and indestructible. Huge bass with without speaker distortion. Clean amd pure through the sound spectrum. The ultimate!Ruggles

This speaker is amazing, i really dont know any speaker out there that can even come close to this, im talking quality!!! Nothing can compare in quality sound, this speaker can even handle way more than even advertised! I bought a pair of these for a Gibson Ranger GA-55RVT that I restored and converted to 2×12's instead of 4×10's. I cut the case down and installed a new speaker mounting plate, new Tolex, knobs, electrolytics, tubes, everything. The only thing I didn't have was a matched pair of 12-inch guitar speakers, so I installed a pair of ruggedized 12-inch "no-name" (Urban Audio Works) speakers until I got everything worked out on the Ranger. The Gibson actually sounded decent with the Urbans, but with these Legends, it really rocks! The sound is exactly as described in the ad: Lots of growl and muscle, especially with the front pickups, but zingy highs and midranges for lead work with the middle and back pickups. I was torn between the Jensen C12N's and C12K's, but then I saw Music123's ad for the Eminence Legend 1258s, and decided to give them a try. Plus, I heard the Jensen's were more "British" and "woody" sounding, and I wanted an American rock/Fender Twin sound for my Gibson. That amp uses two 6L6's for output (as opposed to four for the Fender) so I was worried that the C12K's might be too much, and the C12Ns too little. But the Legends are perfect. They really brought my Ranger to life, at all volume settings. The biggest thing Ive noticed is how these speakers bring out the differences in the switch and pickup settings on my various guitars, from Strats and Strat copies, to my 76 Kramer aluminum neck 450G. They really have a great tonal range. And the 75-watt rating (x2) is perfect for the 55-watt Gibson amp.John Young-Y0CQl

This speaker doesn't get a lot of press because it is overshadowed by the Patriot and Red Coat speakers in the Eminence brand. I've been through many Emi speakers in the newer lines but came back to this one. It is clean but definitely not sterile. Big warm (tight but not boomy) bass, mids are solid but smooth with just a touch of bite when you crank your mids. Highs are strong but musical – not harsh. It plays any style of music and keeps its composure at high volumes. I also like that it is slightly less efficient allowing me to turn my amp up more to get into the sweet spot. It just plain works for my Fender 40 watt black face amp. Cleans are exceptional and overdrive is very musical. For my purposes, it is the best speaker Emi sells.Super 400

I've been using a pair of these for 6 years, for different heads, amps too. Really powerful tight sound, I love em. However, with a silver stripe Bandit 112 they were too bright/harsh. It's because the Bandit is just too bright and harsh, I had a very hard time tweaking an overdrive distortion I liked from that amp…sold it. But I'm keeping the Legend 1258s, they make every other amp I've had sound great!!!!Buffalo_BiL

exelent amp, am playing in a 2×12 (v30 + g65) and just sounds great! for lowers Vol im not recoment (bedroom) meabe with a hot plate ,but if you rock louder with classic tones rock/blues, this IS Your amp!!!nutridelafuente

Two cleans and two gain controls make this a very versatile amp. It's great for live shows and it records beautifully. The pronounced mids on the gain channel help it sound sweet while cutting through the mix and the cleans go from bright and twangy to deep and chimey.CC

Overall: I bought the CV75 after hearing it in person and I'm using it with a Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister that has a wide range of sounds. It sounds really nice on the clean channel and also with some dirt. I built my own 1×12 cabinet for it and tried both closed back and open back. I like the sound with the middle third of the back open. The service and shipping from zZounds was impressive.Dave

I have read that this speaker is a massaged V30. While I cannot speak to the validity of that comparison, I can directly compare the CV75 to a Chinese-made V30 (mine came out of an Orange cab). The CV lacks the nasty high-mid spike, has a bit more grunt and a just slightly tighter low end. It is a good deal more articulate to my ears, though that could simply be due to the lack of harsh frequencies. Overall it is a fantastic speaker that sounds wonderful right out of the box and suits my needs very, very well.Properpat
