7 String Guitar Strings Ernie Ball For Sale (2024 Update)

I have Ernie Ball Music Man Artisan Majesty guitar and I first purchased the "2623 Super Slinky 7-String Electric Guitar Strings" first from here and they sounded horrible on this guitar(very twangy) and the B string was dead. I would assume these size strings don't belong on this guitar. I purchased these Paradigm strings and they sound great. Time will tell how long they last. The packaging was very nice. It was in sealed air tight package and in a box.Treagor

This product gets a 4 due to how quick they seemed to fade. I bought the Ibanez FRIX7 and purchased 3 packs of these to try them out. At first I thought they were amazing, then after about a week I was kind of hearing less tone and it sort of kept declining from there. FYI I have extremely acidic fingers so it’s no surprise that I had this issue. It definitely last 2-3 times longer than a D Adarios so the tech does work. That said, I ended up buying heavy Elixers and using the low string from the packs of EBalls. Sounds awesome and works the way I need. Hope this helps! SamPSamuelPlayzon

There are a few "good" brands of electric guitar strings, and I have always chosen Ernie Ball as my goto set. They cost less, and last just as long as anything else that I have tried so that right there is enough for me. The new Cobalt, and Paradigm series strings are even better in my opinion, and it is the Paradigm that I use on my personal guitars now but for every guitar that I sell (several every month) it is always Cobalt series strings. I live on the Florida coast so anything made of metal is short lived especially guitar strings but the Cobalts do the trick, and last a couple of months for me.zombie415.2009

These strings need no credability having already been used and endorsed by the likes of Eric Clapton and Steve Vai and many more guitar giants. I only recently tried these cobalts and will probably never go back to the standard nickel strings. The big difference you notice right away is the feel of the strings when pressed and played, almost giving the feel of having a scalloped neck. The strings have a sort of elasticity to them, making for easy bending. Just a great feel. The next difference you'll notice is the higher output they give, while in my case actually making each note more distinct and clear at higher gains. These strings have suited me very well. The clarity that i got melded so well with the active emg pickups on my schecter hellraiser c-7. The clarity from these strings forced me to play more clean. My leads, especially above 12th fret, have become much more distinguishable. Combined with the active pickups, its almost like each note is now easier to hear as you play a fast lead run. Its worth the money because of the improved tone for sure. Not to mention the clarity stays fresh for twice as long as regular steel or nickel wound strings.C7 HellRAISER

In most cases, I would never buy Ernie Ball. I've tried pretty much every brand and Ernie Ball overall wasn't even something I'd consider back in the day. However, a couple years ago I was in a pinch and bought the Cobalts for my 7 string guitar. Ever since I haven't purchased another kind of string. These are the best in my opinion. My absolute favorite. I string all my guitars with Cobalts. Their only downside was that they felt really rough on my fingers when I started playing on them. I don't notice that anymore though. I was also getting back into playing so that could have been why. Maybe I've been lucky. In my experience Ernie Ball strings can break as soon as you take them out of their little paper sheath. In the case of the Cobalt strings, I have never had to change a Cobalt string due to it breaking. I've never had a Cobalt string break on me. In some cases a year has passed and the worst that's happened is the strings won't hold their tune as well anymore. Now, I'm not suggesting you wait a year. Typically, I change strings on my guitars every 3-6 months.And I'm not saying these won;t break. I'm fully expecting a string to break on me when I start playing today because I'm posting this. I was talked into buying these strings about a month ago by a sales associate at the Guitar Center in Jackson, Ms. Said they were the best strings Earnie Ball had to offer. I can now say that I disagree. I love Earnie Ball strings, don't get me wrong, but these are by far the worst I have purchased. I had them on for two weeks and played on them five times. Put my bass in its case after every session. Within a week, I started noticing that they were gaining rust. Dispite the fact that I cleaned them. By the time the second week came, they looked like they had been left in the rain for months. I don't recommend these strings to anyone. The steel and nickel strings, yes, buy those. I love them. But these new cobalt strings are a waste of money. Thankfully my local Guitar Center took care of me and gave me a free pack of strings when I showed them the wear and tear they had gained over a course of two weeks. I'll say again, don't buy these strings. You will be disappointed.Van Lee

I have been using Ernie Ball strings for quite some time. I've gone through most of the gauges and I was set on the Mega Slinkys. Then I saw that EB came out with the lightest strings available called Zippy Slinky. I was way excited to try these out. My guitar center carried the strings and I bought 3 sets. As I was putting the strings on my guitar, I couldn't believe how thin they were especially the high E string. I played my tele after tuning the strings and I was amazed at how awesome they played and sounded! They are extremely easy to play and stay in tune and not one string broke. You don't have to play soft or delicate with these strings. I play surf and these strings really do the job. I'll be sticking with Zippys for now on.Dan

(Guitar there were placed on is a Tom Murphy Painted and Aged Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard w/ Brazilian Fretboard) Back in the day, Ernie Ball strings weren't packaged well; they weren't even sealed. If you haven't tried them since their packaging was reinvented, they're definitely worth a look now. Tried D'Addario pure nickel strings, found the wound three to be too low output. I swear the core wire looked like it belonged in acoustic strings. Maybe I got a factory defect, who knows. Gibson strings sound great initially but the 'G' starts to sound dead after a week and the wound strings sound dead and filthy in three weeks. These on the other hand sound marvelous. They sound great out of the package, stay balanced, and sound good for longer than I thought possible.MidnightRiderInTX

I have recently come back to playing the guitar, Sax is my primary instrument but I have had my Gibson RD Standard since 1978. I have since increased my heard of guitars to 10 electric guitars and 3 bass guitars. I have come to favor the Ernie Ball lights and super lights on almost all my guitars. I play the 9's on all of my Stratocaster copies and the super lights on the 3/4 size guitars. I love the feel as far as tone, intonation, flexibility ease of bends and how the strings hold up as a whole. I would definitely recommend to a friend or buy this produce again.Antonio

I have been using the Power Slinkys (11s) for a few years now. I had switched from another brand because the Slinkys made my Strat sound more Straty. After watching a few videos on YouTube about string gauge, I thought I would buy the Regular Slinkys (10s) and see what difference that would make. When I got online to buy I saw that Guitar Center had a sale on 12 packs and since there is a pandemic, I thought it prudent to hoard strings. My logic was that while I may run out of TP, I would never run out of strings for my guitars. Long story short, you cannot go wrong with the tone of 10s. I do like them better than the 11s. They are much clearer in the low end and you get more definition. I have to do less EQing when recording and they just seem to pop better in a mix. The only downside is that they are taking me time to get used to, I play very heavy handed and these are much easier to bend. But I can already see that I have less hand fatigue.Richard

what can i say, i have been using Ernie Ball Slinky's for almost twenty years.and would not think of any other string. they are so flexible, i think i am using regular guitar strings. it doesn't take a Hercules to pull the strings down to the frets. and they always have the sound i am looking for. look, i am going to shoot straight. most musicians are not rich.and struggle until that day(if it ever comes) we get discovered or finally break through. most of us don't. so, if i can get a string that allows me to do what i can with a bass, and sound like the most expensive bass ever made, at a price where i can eat dinner that night,that's a win-win. so whether i am playing for a bunch of my friends, or playing in some major concert venue.i will continue to use Ernie Ball products.david

The 7th String is not heavy enough for tuning down to A. The Tension is way too low and the string won't stay in tune. I swapped it out for a .068 and it matches the tension of the other strings much better for A Standard tuning.Andy

Ernie Ball makes fantastic strings for 6,7, and 8 string guitars. Including acoustic. Skinny Top Heavy Bottom strings are a perfect combination of heaviness but still giving them the original Slinky feel to them.Talon

I tried these strings on copy of an ES-335 style guitar. The pickups are not as alive as I would like. The strings appeared to add energy to the pickup and resonate well. I enjoyed the new sounds and power when playing. I was able to bend the strings to my heart's content and pretend that I was a blues master. Do not be afraid to give these strings a go.Ed

The best sounding and feeling strings I have ever used. Most of my guitars have vintage powered pickups and these strings are extremely clear sounding. They sound great on my Strats and Teles. They sound fantastic on my '61 RI SG and LTD PB 500 (Duncan Alnico II pickups). They still have the "slinky" feel of regular Ernie Ball strings. They seem to last a little longer too. If you are a bedroom player, you will like them. If you are a gigging player you will love them. I have always used EB strings, these are now the only strings I use.ShaneC

These are great strings. The feel like Slinkys to me, but are a little more slippery. Sustain is fantastic. I wore out a set of DR DDT (11 bottom) so, I put them on my Ibanez GRG121. This guitar has dinky weak humbuckers, but a pinch holds way longer with the strings…to the point that it feels more like upgrading the pickups. Maybe it's placebo, but I could swear they have a tighter swing too. I went thinner than the DDTs (obviously) putting these on and some of the first moment fret butt I got above fret 15 went away. Maybe it's just bc their thinner, but watching them I think they swing less. Try these strings… *Note: They leave a nasty bitter on your fingers.Steve

I use these strings on my Ibanez Premium RG with Dunan Distortions and compared to the cobalts I usually use, they feel a lot stronger, definitely even louder and the high strings really ring out a lot. On a clean sound they're very crisp and clear, for high gain they have a lot of output and clarity, even compared to the cobalts. I just got them not long ago so i can't comment on the life yet, but I assume it'll be as good, if not better than the cobalts. Overall excellent strings and i really love the new plain strings as i was kinda disappoint by the cobalts on changing the wraps. Great job on these!JeffTremy

So I've been putting Ernie Ball coated strings on my Strat for a while now. I played around with cobalts and the tone was great, but I thought the life wasn't as long. The M-Steels don't seem awfully different from the cobalts. This certainly isn't a problem; they feel great and sound great. However, after how hard they marketed these strings as a "revolution" it just seems strange to me that they put out a product that's so similar to the cobalts. Marketing gripes aside, these are good strings. Great tone, bright and snappy but not thin. They feel like very solid, strong strings. Like all Ernie Ball strings, they have great feel. Are they a revolution as advertised? No. Are they are great set of strings? Sure.Kevin

Ernie ball m-steels are for me a great find, nice and tight bass side of the strings, and a more mid focused sound with increased output. They feel a bit strange a first and have a slight increase in tension, I have these on 4 of my guitars, it only sucks that they don't do 7 or 8 string sets which I have already msged Ernie ball about, maybe that will change in the future.gnosisdemiurge

I have tried Fender,Gibson,Ghs,Elixir,Dean Markley's Blue Steel. I used the blue steel for about the last 5 years because they had really good sound and lasted a long time. But I read the reviews on these strings and thought I would give them a try. These strings are great. The first time I played Sweet Child O' Mine, my jaw dropped to the floor by how good these strings sounded. Just amazing what a good set of strings can do. Distorted or clean they have great sound and all I am using them on is an Epiphone. I'm pretty sure if you try these you will like them. Sorry Dean Markley but I am switching to Ernie Ball Power Slinkys form now on.Brice
