Reviews:
using greenbacks for years I wanted a somewhat similar speaker for a small DIY 1/2 watt transistor, ruby amp.. and the price was very ok here. still waiting for a 5F1 pine champ cab to arrive for it.
Used to replace the OEM speaker in my Blackstar HT1, and as many have claimed, does provide a much better bottom end — deep, tight, focused. Excellent highs — one of the "small speaker" spikiness. My only quibble is that in my application, there is a drop-off in the mids, creating an odd high/low over-emphasis. I can dial it in by adjusting my amp, but out of the box it was tight in the mids. Bigger magnet than the OEM unit; construction standard seems very high, to the extent you can "see" it. At the Parts Express price (not list) it's an almost unbeiievable value.
I put this in an old Vox VT15 Pawn shop find. It worked well for a few years but it konked out, and I didn't want to spend a ton on a little practice amp. This little speaker did the trick. I really think I'm getting better tones out of this speaker than the speaker that it came with. I only replaced the speaker a little over a month ago, but so far, I feel like I gave my amp an upgrade. I did not expect that.DeadWeasel

This is a replacement for a bass combo amplifier and it sounds better than the original. I was going to swap this out when the original came back from reconing, but will keep it as is and use the original in an extension cabinet.Pushes the low notes without overtones and cuts through the room. Very reasonable price for the quality.Sal
Arrived quickly and packaged well. Easy install and performs just what I need. I'll probably order another!JT
This is literally a guitar speaker that can handle bass frequencies. As a bass speaker it will start distorting at higher volumes. That being said, this driver sounds amazing as a guitar driver, and should be marketed as such.Joel

Received my order 3 days after my order on a Wednesday. Have not had very much time to play with it. Have it paired with a Fender 2×10" Rumble cab. This 15" cab provides a much needed bottom that the Rumble(lots of mid)does not give. I plan to use this for larger indoor/outdoor venues that the Rumble will not cover. Using an Ampeg PF 350 head so this and the Rumble are well within the power handling of 350 watts at 4 ohms.Peter M.
Great addition to my rig. Prior to purchase I was playing an Ampeg PF 350 into a Rumble 2×10" cab. I was lacking some bottom end, the Rumble was a little weak there but is good for mid to high end. This cabinet exceeded what I was looking for, strong bottom end. I'm using both as a stack with the 15" cab on the bottom. I've only used it for practice but have an upcoming outdoor gig. I'm sure my set up will handle that. Would recommend SA for all speaker needs, both Bass and Guitar.Peter A.
Met my need for a robust portable bass guitar cabinet! Constuction is excellent – solid even though it’s MDF not plywood. Swapped out the seismic speaker (no offense) for a JBL K140. Worked like a charm. Might consider putting a horn in it. We’ll work the money. Thanks. IanIan R.

Rec'd from MF by free shipping in 2 days. Factory sealed packaging. Installed as a replacement in an SWR Son of Bertha 15" cabinet. Took less than 10 minutes, fit like a glove. This speaker is as close to the original SWR factory specs as I could find, except higher wattage and higher sensitivity rating. Driven with a GK MB800, EQ'd flat at 1/2 output it performed effortlessly. Round, rich and warm tone. Precise and articulate. Made my 8 year old cab brand new again.3rdBass
A friend and I have a high-wattage sound system located in his heated pole barn. We didn't spend a lot, but we like the results we're getting. We put the 4018LFs in two Peavey 118 boxes, to which we added some fiber-fill, but did no other mods. We drive them with a Behringer NU6000 at 4-Ohms, bridged mode. It's plenty of power. We're using the sub output from a Behringer Ultragraph Pro FBQ1502HD, crossed over at 100Hz. We play LPs, CDs, and SACDs. The 4018LFs sound great! I hope this helps you decide.Michael
I have a very old pair of Peavey TF115 loudspeakers driven by a Peavey 1.3K (400W per channel at 8 ohms) that I use both as a PA and stereo guitar amp. Not the greatest stuff, but it gets the job done and has done so daily since the 90's until I recently overdrove the horn and tore a nice gash in my woofer being careless with my tools. My first thought was to replace them, but I decided to rebuild one before dropping big bucks on new cabs. For starters, the magnet on this beast is twice the weight and size of the Peavey and my first reaction was — UH OH — I'm gonna need way more power! However to my suprise, I am pleased to say this thing rocks and really packs a thumping punch! Running the old versus the new side by is night and day. If you want a deep clean bottom end punch that is crisp and sharp, this will get the job done. The sound is very clear and the lows are extremely clean. There is no doubt that this woofer is handling the power with ease and can take much more abuse than her old twin sister. I have no other option but to rebuild the second unit now. Extremely pleased with he value of this purchase…Just make sure you have enough power to drive it or it may not budge!Hitman

Affidabilissimi, negozio super fornito!!! Personale davvero gentile e sempre a disposizione per qualsiasi cosa o problema.. Caso mio l'ordine non era presente in magazzino e ci hanno informato! Bravissimi!
The main thing is the sound: this has a low resonant frequency which makes the low E and A strings clear but not "boomy" or indistinct. It smoothes out the D and G strings with more even response. Electric bassists know the problem: The top two strings (especially the G) usually have a much brighter timbre. We've learned to adapt to that anomaly with tenth-intervals, thumb & pop technique plus finger-picking techniques. However, it SURE is NICE to have a speaker that automatically helps us use those high strings without so much annoying change in tone. The midrange is strong and over most of the fingerboard now. Highs are definitely there, but they are more balanced, less "peaky". That makes notes in the middle range (of Bass) more punchy. The bass doesn't get "lost" when you play a bit higher.Of course many players want the lighter-weight of Neodymium. This delivers. I just used it as a replacement in an old Fender cab, so I know that was the only difference. If you put this in a modern lightweight Baltic Birch cab, you could reduce weight even more.To qualify this opinion I can say that there is ONE speaker I like better for tone, which is the EV 15 bass speaker. I LOVE that sound, but I hate the weight. This delivers most (80%) of what the EV does sonically, but without the hefty price tag or threat of hernia. It ain't cheap, but it's not the premium price point either. Good choice for discerning "old-school" finger pluckers like me.Teacher of beauty

5 years ago, I built 8 sealed 2 way stage monitors using the Eminence Beta-15A woofer and the Eminence ASD1001 Compression driver. Crossover point is 2.5k. This turned out to be a really sweet sounding combination for me. I have been able to drive the Beta-15A to its full 300W power rating with no problems. The overall bass response was surprisingly good for a small sealed cabinet (about 1.75 Cubic feet). I can send some bass and kick to them, and they will handle it all night long. I love it so much that I plan to buy another set of 8 woofers to build more stage monitors. The Beta-15A is a pretty versatile woofer that works as a drop in replacement for some entry level to mid level PA cabs. I have also had good luck replacing the woofers out of the JBL JRX series cabinets with this woofer. Get these, you won't regret it!Soundjunkie
Overall: I know the word versatile gets thrown around a lot when it comes to guitar-related items, but these speakers really can handle anything you throw at them. I got them to replace the blown speakers in my 60's Standel 100w 2×15 bass amp that I also use as a guitar amp, and they sound perfect for both the bass and guitar. They brought that amp back to life.Devin
Used this to replace the speaker in an Acoustic B-200 bass amp. I can't directly compare the sound because the prior speaker was blown several months back. But the new speaker+cab compares favorably to my other cabinets. Loud and clear, even on low 5-string D and B notes.

I have been a bassist for 55 years. I've worked pro audio in television. I own a small P.A. company. I have used many 15's over the years. Altec-JBL-EV. This Celestion Pulse 15 compares to all of them and at a much lower price. I would compare its tonality to the JBL M-151 but it sounds better and is about 8 lbs lighter. When you roll your tone knob on your bass the pulse 15 responds beautifully. The mids are perfectly balanced all through the tone range, be it an active or passive bass. The high end is crisp with tight low end. Truly a remarkable speaker for its price, tone, and under 11 lb weight! It has NO completion for what it offers in this price range. Neo magnets are lighter but ceramic magnet speakers still sound better!L. J. Jr.
I Purchased this Speaker To Replace The Stock 15 Inch Speaker in a Trace Elliot Bass Cab for our Church. The Original was Starting to Develop a Bad " Cough " about Midway thru the Praise and Worship Set, This was an Celestion 15 inch also. This Speaker fit right in, hooked up the wires, replaced Grill Cover and took her for a test Drive ! This Speaker was Purring right along nicely ! Great Low end thump, smooth rounded out mids, clean highs, Very Articulate ! 400 Watts, You Cant go Wrong With this 15 Inch Speaker !Bigkenno
The Pulse 15 has a balanced mid range. Working your tone controls the sound stays balanced. Nice low end and a crisp top end make this speaker a perfect for bass guitar. It sounds much like a JBL-M151. I installed it in a JBL G734 pa cab after blocking the horn opening. This cab is well built quality ply, light and only 12" deep. Many bass cabs are just too deep. How much low end do you really need in a bar setting? Too much low end becomes overbearing and lost in a live situation . Buy this Pulse 15 because it sounds great and can be used in many applications. 400 watts-great tone-great price. It's a no brainer!L J Jr
8. Eminence Kappa15-Lfa 15" 600w 8 Ohm Replacement Speaker
Product Details:
Low frequency woofer for pro audio in a vented mid-bass or bass enclosure also suitable for bass guitar applications great for a full range setup for anything from live music to dj applications
Reviews:
Does what it says on the tin. Installed this in a TL606 box as a replacement for a Kappa Pro 15A and just shedding the 10+ pounds was a bonus but these drivers can eat power for days, deliver tight booming lows and are very pleasing in the midrange as well. Likely the best 15” I’ve ever played through. Stomps the Black Widow, and definitely trounces some old square backs which were in Peavey gear. Weight reduction alone for most cabs merits a look but you can get tone for sure and if you wish to add a tweeter and a 6-8” for mids and install a crossover you’ll be supremely happy. Especially if you go with a Greenboy design. I did not and again just replaced driver in a TL606 so this was PERFECT based on WinISD modeling.Jason
I bought this to replace a Kappa Pro 15LF, which came in an Avatar bass guitar cabinet, and sounded terrible in it. I used WinISD to model the cabinet and figured the Kappalite 3015 would work well in it. Thankfully, the 3015 and the cab seem to be a great match. The speaker has great punch, tight lows, and full midrange. It has exceptionally flat response throughout its wide range. Plus, it's very efficient and extremely light weight (15 lbs. lighter than the Kappa Pro 15LF). I'm totally happy with it!Steve
Long story short the OEM drivers in the Behringer cabinets took a dump. I wanted to upgrade to a driver that would work in the Behringer cabinet with minimal crossover adjustments. The driver paired great with the crossover but I had to change the compression driver to match sensitivity of the new Kappa15LFA. The 15LFA was paired with a PRV D290PY-S. The existing Lpad lined back up with the driver changes. The combo improved the overall power handling, sq, and low end substantially. I modeled 20 different drivers for the Behringer cabinets and the Kappa 15LFA modeled the best. The driver cage matches the existing Behringer cage however the driver leads have to point to the side of the cabinet for the driver to fit. It will only fit 1 way without modifications. Overall I am very pleased with the driver and would not think twice about using it again.Abram

Worst part-breaking it in. Best part-everything else. I bought a pair of these on sale from GC years ago. Just couldn't get a great tone when I first installed them in a 212 poplar cab I built. I don't play very loud, or at least I never use to. Kept going back to them once in a while. After break in, it had that classic 70's hard rock greenback tone. After 10 hours the bass come out. After 20 hours the flatness went away as the highs started to bloom. Lovely round and warm clean tone, but has those lovely highs. Not brittle at all. I would recommend anyone buying these to make sure you give them time to break in. It is worth it. I would have rated this a 4/5 speaker at purchase(cheaper than a heritage) after 20 hours(maybe less if you play loud) Everything smooths out. No fizz, no brittle top end. Just really nice tone. What prompted this review was a recent move. I still have 7 speakers that need a home so was thinking of swapping out the EVH and maybe selling them. Been sitting under my Traynor YBA-1 for a long time. I don't play it because even at only 40 watts it will shake the neighbours windows. Tried my Phaez Pasadena 22 watt sounded like marshall goodness. Plugged in my lunchbox 15 watt Dark Terror with very low gain and high master. Got those cleans I was mentioning. (I know everyone thinks the dark terror is a metal amp, which it can be, but it also has great cleans. A whole lot of tones from a single tone knob amp) Tried a red knob Fender Champ with a lineout I made. Just wow. Chimey cleans. Can't recommend these enough. I like the regular greenback, but there is a bit of high end harmonics on it that don't always suit what I am playing. Use to play with Vin30s in my Traynor YCS50H, but I keep going back to the orange with these two. At least for home use. Hope you got a good idea of how this sounds. I also recommend looking up Zilla Cabs, they have done some terrific comparisons of various greenbacks. Johan Segeborn as well has tried many of the greens against each other too. If you are wondering where it sits in comparison I would start there.J Michael
Really good sounding speaker. I am especially impressed with the clean tones that this speaker produced. I am playing it through my Friedman Runt 20 watt head and matching speaker cabinet. I was surprised that this speaker was made in the UK and not in some other country. I only have about an hour on it so far and know that it will sound better when I get some more hours on it, buy I am impressed with the tone of this speaker so far. I believe it is a good value for the money.John
The Celestion G12 EVH is an excellent sounding speaker. I purchased a 2×12 cabinet a few years ago with a Celestion Greenback reissue and a G12H30 inside. After giving the cabinet plenty of break in time I thought it was lacking something so I started rolling speakers. After several combinations I decided to purchase the G12 EVH to replace the greenback. Even before a full break in I could hear the difference. The EVH just has an overall a better tone. Don't get me wrong here, the greenback RI is a good sounding speaker but for this particular cabinet ( Bogner 2×12 diagonal) I feel the EVH has a superior tone. It's more expensive than the reissue greenback but to my ears it's worth the price. As always your mileage may vary.dslgolf

Love the bass these speakers produces. Not bad for the price and I would recommend these for anyone who loves excellent sound on a budget.TRACY
Put this in an altec Lansing lightning to replace soon to be blown woofer, works great, plays down to about 50ish hertz and almost nothing below 40 hertz. I myself like a lot of bass and it does a great job of providing!Jeff
Great bottom end- you need a cabinet with 2 4" round ports to move the air or else it will distort..bigjohnyeti

If youre looking for a mostly foul range subwoofer this is it! Sounds great with any combination low mid high you pick it will perform. It can handle a good amount of power all-so! Bass is not bad for a mostly full range subwoofer. I highly recommended. Sounds good what a great price8duneman8
i bought 12 of these for a project a while back. the basket is VERY weak. i can actually bend it in with my thumb. i had to return two because they were bent during shipping. parts express did a nice and quick job handling the problem. the push terminals rattle quite alot also. The drivers themselves don't sound to bad, although not particularly efficient. I would recommend saving a few more dollars and buying something else. i was disappointed. i also bought the 10" version of these and have had the exact same results from them.rich52569
I am adding these two speakers to my digitally sampled theatre organ. I already have 10 of them so I know how good they are. I now have 12 amps and love the sound!NO

I have a Rumble 1 x 15 cabinet. I wanted to upgrade from the Eminence-Made for Fender speaker. At the advise of an Eminence Tech I purchased the CB158. It sounds great! Clear deep tones I plan on buying a second Rumble 1 x 15 cabinet and I'll upgrade that one also! The sale price made it a great value!Chuck
You can experience quite a bit of satisfaction when a product you paid a fair amount of money for just plain works. And boy does this speaker work. The solid bass tones that come out of this baby has brought my 80s something Fender Bassman Compact back to life. I was happy all the bolt holes lined up with the pre drilled holes of the amp. The only little drawback is that it has made my amp heavier. Not a bad trade off for the quality sound that this speaker delivers.Darren
I refurbished an Ampeg 115hp bass cabinet and installed a CB158 15". The speaker provides tremendous frequency response, tight solid bottom end with crisp clean highs. I no longer use the horn in the cabinet…there is no need. I highly recommend this speaker to get the most out of a bass rig. It also pairs very well with my Ampeg PF210HE.Francis L

I load too many speakers. I believe in Eminence Delta series for several applications. I currently deploy Delta LFA for low frequency support, Delta Pro series for their range and power for PA support, and Delta A for monitors and smaller venue mains. They are reliably consistent and handle power and abusive cartage. Good useable range for any application.

This is a great driver… This will put typical 18 inch drivers to shame. This speaker is simply beautiful with everything. The look, sound, and pound. If I was very wealthy I'd buy another one of these, go to a shop that makes custom boxes into the perfect tuning of these drivers and have the perfect dual 15 in my living room, I can imagine the wow factor in my head with this thought.. Any bad things about this driver.. I really can't think of anything bad about this driver, honestly.Alex

I have had this speaker for years in a variety of cabs! Fabulous tone and low end. Never an ounce of trouble. It is very heavy but worth it in the service It has given me. Excellent wattage handling ability. Highly recommended! I originally purchased to replace a JBL speaker which had wonderful tone but bottomed out easily.Gary
I built some very nice 4 cubic foot boxes back about 1990 for the JBL 2226H. The box porting (JBL's recommendation) was supposed to have an fb of 30 hertz, but reverse engineering shows it to be more like 38 hertz. The JBL is a great sounding mid-bass speaker, but rolls off too much below 60 hertz.I tried the Peavey LowRider 15, great deep bass but poor midrange musicality. It is specifically a subwoofer. I plan to build some extended sub boxes for them. The Eminence Kappa Pro 15LF2 with a fs of 35 hz has turned out to be the answer. Seems flat down to 40 hertz with good linear mid-bass. I am bi-amplified with 30 hz high pass and 800 hz low pass using two old Crown D150A Series II amps bridged in mono. The high end is old Altec drivers on JBL 2370 horns, with a Selenium supertweeters (passive crossover at 5K hz). These are the best sounding loudspeakers I have ever heard for my types of music (hard rock, blues, country, etc). Probably not the choice for a classical music listener, but they definitely rock.JD Letson, PE - 19328
Deep and loud with a lot punch. I’m running this full range with four 10s for bass guitar and it sounds great. My band plays loud with a lot of distortion and effects, and this Sigma Pro handles it very well. It adds a nice fatness without getting muddy.Steve

The construction is good, especially for the price. I swapped out the bass speakers and put in some Eminence Big Ben 15 inch guitar speakers. This thing is incredible. I will buy another soon. I did not use the bass speakers but they appear to be of good quality.Derek L.
I was looking for an inexpensive bass cab for an old head I had so I didn't need anything too fancy, or pricey. I'm a guitarist so I don't geek out too much on bass gear. Just wanted something with excellent Value for Money as a routine principle– SA delivered. I set it up the other day and put it through it's paces. It's sturdy, manageable in weight, clean, and sounds like a monster 2×15 should. Will be adding casters of some sort though I am able to one-hand carry in the upright position like a heavy suitcase without too much trouble. Would definitely recommend the product and the manufacturer based on this purchase.Peter P.
Awesome cab. I have a Hartke HA5500 hooked to it and it sounds amazing. Deep bass and great mids and highs. 66lbs so not too heavy at all. I installed casters and stand it on its side. Looks great and everything is at arm level. Have played a few gigs with it so far and so far so good!Jeffrey M.
