I'm a Fender fan to the core. I love their electric guitars and amps but their Amps aren't even affordable anymore. They've completely out priced themselves and either you are going to pay for a severely overpriced bare bones amp or a severely overpriced amp with far more electronics than a lot of us care to deal with. This is a great sized combo amp that's easy to use and has a great sound and plenty of power and all at a great price!!! There is no reason Fender couldn't do more of this…combo's that aren't easy to use with plenty of effects and a fair price for blue collar musicians. I used a Fender Princeton Chorus combo this same size mic'd through a sound system for over two decades and it started having issues. This was the closest amp I could get (and afford). The 100 has everything you need in a combo amp and at a fraction of the price of everything else Fender makes. Buy it! You won't be disappointed!Josh
I bought this amp because my gig amp died a cyber twin 2-12s 100 watts that was about 16 years old. I have had many Fender amps they were great. I do country and 50s and 60s rock and roll. I figured 100 watts would put it out there and it does. At performing volume, the distortion is a pure heavy metal on the clean channel. Mine is not much good for high volume for my type of music. I have an old champion 110 75 watt that I will be using It has worked for me when the others were down. Not sure what to do.stev_majo
Sound: With the second channel .First it had the twin reverb and super sonic voicing with a chain loop for pedals I was set on that alone. When it got to the house and realized I didn't need my pedal chain and it sounds amazing even though ill still use my pedals here and there. The bassman, tweeds , Princeton all clean or dirty are amazing to play . again to get those sounds with out the tubes and speakers is amazing.. You get volumes that punch against you that are clear without any nasty whitenoise or unwanted sounds. the dirty settings added with the compression build in make all that possible. Outta all my guitars I enjoy to plug into this amp .My 63 firebird , g400 s.g. and my jaguar Ease of Use: Its real easy for me to get the sounds I need .I'm well aware of all the amps they used for the voicing.For new players it might take a little to understand but with no time you'll understand how to dial it in and add the right effects to the amp models to get those amazing fender amps . Quality: Only had it for a week but as for holding it up and down 3 flights of stairs at the studio in Philadelphia id say the strap is well build . Speakers have not blown but I have not had to dial all the way up amps loud as it is half way . Value: yes it is im surprised its not another $100 more.Wish more companies would do this. Overall: I bought a VT40X used this summer and I've been floored. I have Mesa Boogie and Frenzel tube amps so I can compare sounds anytime and don't have to play solid state if I don't want to. When it's evening or late night and I want to be nice to the neighbors this thing comes out and I don't have to feel deprived at all. The Dumble (Boutique OD) in particular gives beautiful rounded bell tones at all volume levels and reacts naturally to increased gain. British 800 sounds like what its intended to mimic. I expected to hate the speaker but it seems fine. The software is needed so that you can tweak the amp to get exactly what you want. It's a bit of a pain but worth it. The user interface on the amp is pretty terrible but once you're set up you won't need to change it very often. Overall this is a gem of a small amp that could stand up to small gigs with no problem as long as you can get it up off the floor on a chair or stand. I'd buy another one of these anytime, and highly recommend it for beginners who need to find their sound and decide what hardware will be best for them. Buy one of these, figure it out and then go spend on pro gear later. You'll keep the VT40X, it's a great bedroom or livingroom amp.Rick
I have played the acoustic guitar for years and played in pubs and all sorts. I’ve never had an amp at home so have been looking at the right one for ages. You don’t need effects peddles to get started with this one – save your money it has many settings built in with the Tone Room app where you can save the effects not only within the Amp but within the app too. I have a Telecaster and I tried it on a few amps. Yes the Marshall CODE is excellent too so you won’t go either with either in what you finally choose, but this is just so much fun. The Valves – oh my, so when I was at school there was a dusty valve amp that I played on and I LOVED it turns out it was a VOX so obvs going back to what I played on at school. A lovely lovely piece of kit and amazing value for money. You can play it really loud and I bet great for a small gig or practicing, playing with others. Did lots of research. Went for this after a Fender Mustang I bought crashed twice the day I got it. First off this thing is loud if needed. Sound good at low volume too. A little tricky to program online but after a little practice it gets easy. 8 presets is plenty too. Only drawbacks are: no line out (just mic it), not Bluetooth capable for streaming in your tunes and programming the channels, and to connect to a laptop it needs a mini usb which is not too common these days. But overall very satisfied with this purchase. Oh and not made in China too is a plus.Steve

Overall: I just want to start by saying that I've never owned a tube amp and I've never owned an orange amp. I've tried the boss katana, it was good, but there was something about the clean tone that didn't sit well. I tried the modeler route and was caught in the endless tweaking wormhole. I can say that it was 100% me as I have heard plenty of people who have great tones from them. I was hesitant with this amp also being a solid state. After many outlet reviews and others from YouTube I decided to go for it. I was so surprised and fell in love with it. I played for 5 hours straight the first night. It felt like 15 minutes. My pedals interacted amazingly with both channels. The reverb was very present and you might want to start from lower settings as it can get very ambient. The gain is very diverse. You can go from a light edge of breakup to some high gain. I can't remember which channel I got the tip to crank the channel volume before the master volumeto prevent the hiss. I tried it and it worked just fine. The clean was very nice. I was on the fence. I thought that maybe I should just buy the Marshall DSL 40. Even thought about the PRS Archon, for the more "affordable" prices. Then I thought about the maintenance that I have read about and the tube shortage and decided that this Super Crush was the better option for my needs. I get that this is subjective, so I'm not going to tell you that you have to buy this amp. I'm just sharing my experience and my totally subjective opinion about this amp. It's a great amp, not just for the money. It looks cool as heck with the orange tolex. It takes pedals great. More importantly, the sound is amazing.
Von Sound er kommt er meinem Rockerverb äußerst nah und ist dabei deutlich leichter und benötigt keinerlei Wartung. In der band (falls man ohne in ear spielt) ist er laut genug um es mit einem gesamten sehr lauten Bandgefüge locker fertig zu werden. Für live Situationen ist der DI Ausgang durchaus nutzbar. Ich werde jedoch (für den besseren Sound) auf meine Redbox von Hughes and kettner zurück greifen. Insgesamt liefert der amp alles was man braucht. Ich werde ihn live und im Proberaum nutzen.

Sound: This amp sounds great when it works. Quality: I went through 2 of them within a year. Something with the bias. When I check the bias on 1 amp it reads 0. On the other the one power setting that works (100watt) the bias only reads 4.3..?????? And it goes in and out not putting out full volume. Bad amp. Overall: I first bought this app and loved it until it started popping and going in and out then it totally died I went crazy and ordered another one and the same thing happened to that just it only works on 100watt. The tubes don’t bias and it goes in and out. 2 amps shot. I don’t recommend buying one of these.
Title says it all. I like the amp and am keeping it. The super leads were generally known for one type of sound and the DSL follows that sound well. For classic sounds it can't replace a 1959 or a 2203 but it can come close enough in a pinch. For all the ranges of more distortion it sounds great. Clean sounds are a bit disappointing. Adding a little bit of gain to the clean to get that edge of breakup sound or a little bit of light gritty clean gets pretty strong on the lows. Flubby came to mind but I'm not sure that's how most people use it. You can get an ok clean sound but it's not that flexible. The strength of the amp is the distortion. I liked all 3 of the distortion settings. You can get some pretty decent dynamics from messing with your attack and guitar volume even on ultra gain.
This head is rugged enough to endure constant venue changes and climates! The clean tones are like the feeling of warm chicken noodle soup sliding down your throat and into your tummy! Mmm mmm good! The crunch tones are so beefy you'll think you entered the hamburger eating contest at the Farris Truckstop in Missouri! That lead tone though…. Have mercy! Smooth like Betty Crocker and cuts through the mix like a warm butter knife! This head is for anyone looking to make the switch from lil Wayne playing to sounding like Carlos Santana! If you are looking for an acoustic amp on a budget, look no further. The Acoustic A1000 is well made, sounds great and has the bells and epistles of a much more expensive amp. I have compared this to the Fender Acoustasonic 40 and there is no contest. I even play my Strat on a few songs in Channel 2 and use a Behringer DI to the PA. It doesnt sound like a Twin Reverb but it is also very acceptable. However, it makes my Martin GPCPA1 sound fantastic! I added a Boss Acoustic pre-amp pedal and the sound is so authentic! Cant beat the price at Guitar Center either. Do yourself a favor and try it out. It deserves recognition!!!!csman1951
I've had this amp for just about a year now and the sound of this amp is amazing. I originally went in to buy another brand (Fender Acoustasonic) but when I tried it out, I just didn't like the sound so I plugged into this model. Man, what I difference. Two inputs per channel, two channels, each with it's own effects bank. The effects sound great, and you can program up to 20 of your own presets. That takes a bit to understand how to do it though. I ended up buying the floor model since they didn't have any in stock, with a discount. When I got home, and after a few days of playing, I noticed a rattle that was coming from the head unit. I moved the amp to different rooms and tried different settings but it didn't clear it up. I brought it back to CG and they ordered me a new one, at the regular price of course. Had the new one within a few days. I've used it with the Bluetooth at an event and it worked flawlessly. Plenty of volume too. I've also recorded direct out to a Tascam recorder and it sounded great. The only thing I would've liked if it had a foot switch to turn off effects but that's about my only complaint. I even got a price match not long after I bought it when it went on sale. The auto-feedback killer is nice and it doesn't effect the tone, in my opinion. I play a Godin A6 Ultra and a Gibson J-180EC through it, both sound amazing.Freditor
This all-in-one acoustic guitar amp is a good fit for a singer-songwriter needing a reliable, portable rig to amplify voice and guitar in small & medium venues or small outdoor spaces (e.g., farmers markets). The amp has 2 separate channels, each with 2 inputs (accommodating either 1/4" instrument or XLR mic cables). Each of these channels has distinct dedicated EQ, FX, and line out (for recording or running to a bigger board). This is ideal for a single performer who wants to treat their voice and acoustic guitar separately (picture a reverb on voice, delay on guitar, separate EQ, and both running in dedicated lines to a recorder for live recording mixdown). But the additional two "passenger" inputs allow some flexibility for special guests or secondary instruments which can get their own level but piggyback on either channel 1/2 EQ/FX/output (e.g., a backup vocalist or keyboard). For many small venues hosting mostly solo/duo acoustic performers (coffee shops, farmers markets, etc.), this would be an adequate house PA, and would likely also suffice for open mic hosts in most situations. With 100W, this unit can project in mid-size venues or larger open air situations (music in the square, "gazebo series," etc), but would understandably not cover the requirements of a large club, theater, or festival stage. The sound quality is clear and easy to dial in. Good sound can be achieved with minimal effort and intuitive adjustment. For a unit of this size and power, it is comparatively lightweight, but obviously heavier (roughly 40lbs) than its smaller cousins. The wedge shape also can make it slightly awkward to carry at this size. Let me just say that the online reviews of this head are very warranted. Ugly sounding lead channel, and effects are practically worthless. HOWEVER…..as bad as the reviews are against the above issues…They are exact also concerning the "Clean" channel, This Head has an immaculately pristine clean sound at low and loud levels. It also takes pedals like a champ! So if you are planning on running a Multi-effects pedal, this Head should definitely impress. Take into consideration that reverb, delay, chorus etc., leaves much to be desired, IMO you should expect to use pedals for those as well. If you have a 412 cabinet and need a strong clean head, you absolutely can't go wrong for the price…if on sale. I love mine, but I already know what it can and can not do. I also run a Boss Gt100 in front of it and it does beautifully. You can also run the "4 Cable Method" as it has Effects Loop. I only gave this Head a "3" rating simply due to the onboard effects. Tested it for about 10min. w/a 1-12 8ohm cabinet. Seemed fine, put it back in box. Finally got a 2-12 4ohm cabinet ready for it and after playing about 20 minutes channel one went crazy (think of the sound banging into an amp with spring reverb). Passed 45 day return. Waiting for Kustom Service.Joe
I became interested in Kustom amps about 15 years ago when a friend of mine gave me a 15w guitar combo amp. The dirty channel had a warmth to it that you don't find on most solid state amps. It was built well and rugged. I ended up giving to one of my daughters friends who had just started playing guitar and he fell in love with it. Flash forward to 2020. My brother who is a drummer had been bugging me to get a band going. I used to play in a few bands starting in the early 80's and ending in the early 90's. I was happy with being a bedroom rock star so my amps were all combo amps and weren't loud enough to play live. I started looking for an affordable combo or half stack that could hold up to live performances. I stumbled across the Kustom KG100HFX half stack and not only the super low price caught my interest, but that little 15w Kustom combo I had crossed my mind. I was almost 100% sold. I watched as many YouTube demos of this amp and that was all I needed to be all in. My mom ordered the Kustom KG100HFX and the matching cab for my 50th birthday. I patiently waited from August last till last week when it came in. I set it up, plugged in and dialed in my regular settings. I hit the power switch and was using my Kramer Baretta w Floyd Rose and Seymour Duncan TB4 JB humbucker. I was in awe. The amp turned up to 1 on the volume filled my garage. The Distortion sounds great! The EQ is precise and the reverb is very nice. The chorus and delay effects are subtle, but very useable. No amp in my opinion with built effects are no match for a good effects pedal. I plugged my effects chain into the front of the amp and my setup with Boss Metal Zone and 7 band EQ and a few other assorted effects sounds just as good as my Crate G120 combo in my practice rig. I love Crate amps. My new Kustom half stack sounds better.Rooster

The marshall jvm410h joe satriani edition 100w head is an addition to the marshall signature series. marshall's r&d engineers worked vefry closely with satriani to craft the jvm410hjs. after much experimentation and an assortment of trials that involved satriani using prototypes during recording and touring, they signed off on the final version and the jvm410hjs went into production. the most notable difference from the original jvm410 is that the reverb pots have been replaced with four nose gates, one for each channel, and each with their own threshold. a mid shift button has been added and can be used with both the od1 and od2 channels. the clean channel is based on the 6100 when on the green mode, with the orange and red modes being hotter variations. the crunch channel takes the original jvm410 crunch and adds some of the popular marshall "afd" circuit to it. the od channels are voiced identically, based on the jvm410 od1 but with the gain scaled back slightly and a smoother transition between modes. the mid shift button determines the difference in mid character between the original jvm410 od1 and od2 tone, moving the mids from around 650khz (mid shift off) to around 500khz (mid shift on). the jvm410hjs is powered by el34 tubes and has two master volumes, the supplied footswitch allows you to switch between channels, modes, master volumes, fx loop and now the noise gates and mid shift as well. there is also a full midi implementation.

Extremely versatile amp. I play a lot of electric blues but I grew up on hard rock/metal. Today I also play a little bluegrass, country, classical, pop and whatever suits my mood at the time. But at the end of the day, I usually revert to a heavier sound. Now the Marshall has a nice clean sound, although not as clean as my old Fender Pro Reverb. You can't have everything. Where this amp really shines is in its ability to generate anything from mild overdrive to extreme high gain. With this amp I can get high gain harmonics that I could not get from other amps, even with heavy gain effects. The only negative really is that the amp is quite physically heavy.Fuzzy
Firstly, I am in a bar/party cover band of older (>30 years to nearly 60) musicians with day jobs. We are not all Recent Hits, but do mostly songs people have heard of in all years from mid 60s to this year. The flexibility of this head is its big feature for someone like me. This is not a prescriptive review — this is just how I use it. Some of the skeptics have wondered why you would need 4 channels with 3 tones each. They have a good point, but not one that applies to a cover band. If I had to have one amplifier, it would have to produce the tones that this amp can do on channel 2 (crunch) green and orange, and channel 3 (OD1) green and orange. Crunch orange and OD1 green are quite similar and are the tones of the classic plexis and old Marshalls. Crunch green is what you would want for "clean" tone with a Marshall level of compression and just a little breakup for an electric guitar. OD1 at orange is what you would do for distorted classic rock — adding an overdrive in front of a plexi or a very saturated pickup, for example. For every song I really like, and everything I would do if I wasn't doing covers, those two channels at those two colors would cover it. For gigs, I can set channel 1 (clean) and Channel 4 (OD2) to be more extreme. The clean channel is actually what i use to be my acoustic guitar and occasionally as my hollow body electric emulating an acoustic. It is not perfect, nor is as good as having a specialized acoustic amp or clean tone jazz amp. However, it is good enough, and it simplifies the signal path to not have separate amps, and there is enough separate EQ to make it work. Channel 4 can be used for dirtier, more distorted stuff, and the weird thing is that now I use it entirely for country. My band doesn't do any metal, and the heaviest guitar sounds we do are the likes of Carrie Underwood. Getting the hiss to go away is not that big of a deal — put an MXR Smart Gate or any other gate I've tried into the _serial_loop_ and twist the knobs — it will take care of the problem. The JS head might be better and I haven't tried it. I do appreciate that you can't use the OD channels on this without a noise gate, but it isn't a big dial to fix. The reverb is good but nothing special. Reading this review before submitting, I realize that the oddest thing is that I personally have no use for any of the red versions of the four channels. That is probably a classic rock attitude — this thing has a lot more metal tone than I will ever use, so you should use other reviews if you want that.Iceandsnow
This is just and amazing head… I can't complement it enough. I wanted so many of the iconic Marshall tones but couldn't afford to go out and buy a JCM 800, 900, Plexi…etc. This head truly does a great job of getting all the tones your looking for. It does take a little dialing in with all the different modes in each channel to find what they all do… but once you have it kind of figured out its a tone machine. the included foot switch is a pleasant surprise also. It's programmable and works like a charm with just a normal guitar cable. I have also used the midi switching capabilities and they are also wonderful, though not as easy to use as the foot switch. If you are a gigging musician or just want a lot of options…..get one of these!Tony

I dont normally write reviews but…. This amp is amazing! After my son played it for a few minutes his first comment was what I thought about him selling his tube combo. To me that spoke volumes. I bought the foot switch , a must have because it opened up the versatility of the amp, and now plan on purchasing an FV500L volume pedal to complete the package. Affordable / flexible / portable / (hopefully) reliable – no need to lug a pedal board around, just a tuner – less stress about whether modern flaky valves are going to pack up mid gig (several outdoor gigs with generators have turned me against using my valve amps for those). I have previously borrowed and gigged a friend's Katana 100 head and GA/FC, so knew what to expect. Really needs an external 8 / 16 Ohm speaker jack socket (c.f. I just played a club that holds about 300 using this amp and was very satisfied. After putting it through the paces in a live situation I would easily recommend this for the gigging guitarist. I ran the 100 watt full volume mode and kept it around 3 with the master volume up full in the clean mode. As I was using pedals, (The usual selection of overdrives and delays) I kept it in the default clean setting that comes right out of the box. The amp was mic'd with an sm57 and the speaker sounded great. Upon further inspection the variable output and full array of effects makes this a good choice for the home studio. Lightweight, loud and pretty inexpensive, I give it 5 stars.DrJ

Was looking for a small light weight amp whilst away from home, not wanting to lug around my heavy tube amp, cab and good sized pedal board. This amp fit's the bill perfectly. This amp sounds great, the onboard effects sound good to my ear. And I also like the controls on this amp. Simple layout that makes it easy and fast to dial in a decent sound. If you need more flexibility the architect software, which is a free download from Blackstar, is straight forward to use giving you even more flexibility. Another thing I like about this amp is as I'm away I often need to us headphones, no to disturb the neighbours, through the architect software, you can change the cab simulation from 112, 212, 412, even choose what mic simulation is used, which I think it's an excellent addition to this already impressive small amp. This amp also sounds great through its built-in speakers, giving it a great stereo sound. For this price I honestly cannot fault it, I did look at other amps but settled for this. I hate amp hunting. I wanted something small and specific for a home studio. Shiny cleans with some grit too? Quality build? Under $600? I searched the used listings for weeks trying to find a deal. Nothing really GETS me. Finally, utterly sick of shopping, I walked into Sam Ash, saw this thing on the shelf and just bought it. Didnt try it. Just read the specs online, read a few reviews and snagged it. I figure, worst case scenario I'll return it tomorrow. Let me say, the sound from this amp is just so incredibly nice. Even without pedals, the built in reverb sounds very good. Not splashy, more like a plate reverb. Adding a transparent overdrive makes my G&L ASAT sound like a tone monster. I have no specific affinity for Blackstar. Never owned a single one of their products and I am totally blown away by this thing. I don't know a thing about the tonal waveforms and harmonic frequencies of the most expensive boutique amps but, on a stage or studio I'd put this amp up to pretty much anything. It FEELS good. It sounds good. Between my guitar and an overdrive pedal and the tone knob on the amp itself, I'm able to pull at least 6 very distinct tones before I even engage the dirty channel. I bought this amp a few months ago after LOTS of research, having finally decided to replace my previous amp of about 20 years! (A Marshall AVT half stack) Firstly, it looks amazing IMO and build quality looks and feels great too. I play in two bands, one playing southern rock, the other heavy rock/classic metal so needed something that was going to cover a pretty wide range of sounds. The Blackstar handles it amazingly! Wonderful warm crunches all the way to chugalicious highly saturated metal gains. The high gains are so smooth and creamy too and not 'scratchy'. (Something I always struggled with with the AVT) The clarity is also pretty amazing at high gain too. Individual notes can be picked out clearly and not just lost in a fuzzy mush. The 2 OD channels work perfectly for the two separate sounds I'm looking for to suit each band, with Voicing on each channel giving even more versatility. This amp produces beautiful cleans too, which can also break up nicely if you push the clean channel volume up. I'd also really recommend the optional 5-way footswitch, shame this doesn't come as standard, but hey..! All in all, I'm absolutely over the moon with this amp. It can do everything from sparkling cleans to tasty crunch and up to all the gain you could wish for. I've even been able to get THAT Stevie Ray Vaughan tone! 😍 But not only that, it's not some 'Jack of all trades, master of none'…it absolutley nails all of these brilliantly! This amp delivers the sound I've been looking for elusively for years now, funny that Blackstar's slogan is "The Sound In Your Head"… Big thanks to the team at PMT Newcastle when testing the 40 Watt version, and the distribution team for the speedy next day delivery!Davey S.

The tone is very mid focused. It cuts nicely in a mix. The low end is tight & mild, not flubby. The onboard reverb is not bad, definitely usable. It's part of the master section, after the effects loop, so it's included in both the speaker output signal and the direct output signal but not included in the effects send output signal. Silent recording using the effects loop send will not include the onboard reverb. The clean channel has a lot of clean headroom but also provides a nice tube-ish type breakup tone when maxed out. I tested the clean channel with several overdrives and distortion pedals, it takes pedals well. I wish the clean channel was a little less mid focused. Using an EQ pedal in the effects loop should help resolve. The effects loop is nice, clean and quiet. The XLR direct output with cab sim does not sound great on it's own. Using the direct out with impulse responses made a huge difference. Sounds great when using with IR's. The master volume knob controls both the direct output and the speaker output. For silent recording, I imagine you can run the amp without a speaker connected. Seeing that the power amp is class A/B, it should be able to operate without a load, no issue… but I would double check with Orange support before doing so. Overall great amp!!Jason

This amp is versatile and easy to use stand-alone. It has a great selection of amp models built-in, along with enough effect and delays so that you can find something that you like fairly quickly. I like the clean and boutique models with some reverb. Then I played around with the other models, adjusting settings and effects. You can adjust everything on the amp, not necessary to connect a computer. I did find it confusing initially due to all the different methods required, i.e. "press a button", "press and hold", "press for 2 seconds", etc. That's why I read the manual a few times! Line6 puts a nice 2-sided "cheat sheet" on top of the amp around the carrying handle which is a lot easier than flipping through small pieces of paper staring at small font printing. So don't remove the amp-topper sheet and toss it in the box with the rest of the packing material :-). The best feature of the Catalyst amp is the manual channel. This is WYSIWYG. Adjust the knobs and controls just like a "regular"amp. You can then save the settings once you get something you like. In the future I will connect the amp to the computer and see what else you can do. Right now I am quite happy with the Catalyst amp and I highly recommend it. Go get one!Gene
After suffering a disabling back injury I needed an amp that was easier and lighter to move and set up than the tube amp combos I was used to playing through. I never cared much for the solid state amps as they could never duplicate the warmth a tube amp provided and was considering retiring from live performance altogether. Then I heard about the Catalyst series of amps and decided to try them out and was amazed! My bandmates were as well, telling me how much more clean and clear my sound was. Programming channels was a snap ( just follow the "cheat sheet on top of the amp and read the manual) and the manual button provides the familiarity of a regular amp, and at a third of the weight of my Blackstar 40 watt tube combo I can continue to perform without dealing with debilitating back pain from moving a 70 pound amp. I was so impressed I went back to GC and got the 60 watt Catalyst as well for home and playing at open mic and jams. I couldn't be happier with these amps and am grateful for the help and guidance the folks at Guitar Center in Concord Ca. always provide.Stephen
I have a few amps that I'm selling and a couple that need work – I picked up this Catalyst 60 on a whim so I'd have something reliable and portable while I'm moving amps around my local used market – but I'm super impressed with this amp and am probably going to upgrade to the 100w model! (In fact, I'll get two because I play in stereo!) I found it impossible to get a bad sound out of this, I plugged in direct with my Vox Virage DC and tried all the possible pickup combinations and did not want to stop playing. Great cleans, great crunch. The higher gain amp settings had me revisiting the metal riffs of my youth, haha. I haven't dived into the software editor because: I haven't needed to. Wow! This is an amazing piece of gear. It is well worth the money as it's very transparent (100 watt Marshall in apartment sounds great). Obviously it will never sound just like it would live as you lose air being pushed, speaker distortion, and feed back but this thing is doing a much better job then my Rivera Rockcrusher ever did. The loop is better then the one in my amp and it also has foot switch to remove it from the circuit. the variable attenuation is great and lets you hit that sweet spot of volume for any situation, unlike most other devices that have set levels of attenuation. My only complaint so far is it's heavy.C. Richards
Understand that as an amp this amp can be described as a amplification "platform"' . If you you send a moderate input signal in, you will get moderate amplification., hot signal in and you get serious amp output! Logical… The attenuator/power-soak works great and offers good sonic sculpting controls..I personally like the "depth" controls as they seem to be tweaked in a way that "flubbiness" is none existent yet low mid tones are accessible and open sounding . Note these controls are for last stage eq so are supposed to keep you out of trouble.. The "feel"of this unit is great! The playing dynamics means a lot to me .. I am using it as a two channel amp presently with different settings for rhythm and lead, verb pedal in effects loop .. sounds great, feels great ,is great!Bill
Bought this as I have a few vintage amps that I have in storage that are too loud to be played out, or at home. I've bought a couple of passive attenuators in the past that were okay but they always took something away from the tone and ended up being fairly uninspiring to use, and that's from reducing the volume just a bit, not from taking it down to bedroom levels. The Fryette Power Station 100 makes my amps sound fantastic at any level, from reducing volume to just a hair all the way to a whisper. I don't know much about electronics but I'm sure it has something to do with the 100 watt amp built into the unit. You can even bring up the volume on lower powered amps. That and the built in effects loop makes it a pretty amazing device. All of my old amps have gotten a reprieve from the basement closet and are up in use again. I've only owned it for a couple of weeks but I see the Fryette PS 100 being used on a daily basis from now on. The quality is superb except that they forgot to install two screws to hold the top of the PS to the chassis. A minor complaint but I have contacted Fryette and AMS about sending me the screws and am hoping someone pulls through. Like I said, best gear purchase in 20 years. Maybe 30.
14. Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Solo Head 3-Channel 100-Watt Guitar Amp Head

A very good to excellent condition mesa boogie dual rectifier 3 channel solo head. the power tubes were changed last month for apex matched jj 6l6 this head had the effects loop professional modded to a serial loop from a parallel. the parallel loops are these are notoriously bad. the mod has greatly improved the ability to use the effects loop. with these mods it disables the ability to use the loop with the foot-switch and you need to keep a cable in the loop when not using the effects loop. this also allows you to use the loop volume as another volume so you can play at lower volumes. the amp works and sounds as it should. i was using a helix into the effects loop with great tonal results! comes with the original footswitch, power cable, and footswitch cable. will include a cable for the effects loop as well.

First off this review is for a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier(not multi-watt version). 150 watt Amp Head. I am running it into a Randall RA412XLTX 4×12" speaker cab. Playing my B.C. Rich Gunslinger. No effect pedals at first. I originally had the single rectifier but I wasn't very happy with the gain levels. I sold it and went through probably 8-9 different amp types, until I ended up purchasing the triple rectifier. The Triple Rectifier has got all the gain I need without having to use any pedals. I really, really love the variations from ch2 and ch3. It says in the manual that these channels were revamped and that they both different types of hi gain channels. So between the two channels and three modes for those channels. There are a ton of different tones. The clean channel is super smooth and lush, and if you use the pushed mode, you get a great blues tone. It handles effects pedals both in the loop,and out of the loop very well. Overall I am loving this amp!!! It is super heavy and punchy. Real tight low end and great clarity with hi gain. It's Solo function can act like a boost, and I can easily dial in any sound I'm after. And each one sounds Amazing!! Great amp especially when you get a great used one for a great price!!dantheman623
This is a BEAST! It sounds marvelous! It's compact, balanced, and beautiful to look at. I see no limitations with this "Slaya' from the Himalaya". In my opinion it's the best of the best. What would be nice would be a nice ventilated cover for the back to protect the valves. Other than that this is a perfect amplifier for all genres of musical styles. I recommend it for the musician who wants and needs an amp that can effortlessly do it all. By the way, it's pricey, but believe me, it's worth every penny paid for it.annunakinephilim2010

Having owned most of the ss and hybrid amps- Vox, Boss, Marshall, Hughes & Kettner and Line6 the Blackstar Silverline blows the lot of them out of the water, very very valve like tones with natural sag and brilliant playing response, the effects are bloody good too just can not stop playing through it. i am now in the process of selling my valve amps and pedal board gear. I’ve had this amp for a little over a week. It has exceeded my thoughts on what this amp might be able to do. So much so, that I bought on for my step son! The tube selection is spot on. Delays, reverbs, and phasers effects are really awesome. They are as good if not better than having stomp boxes at your feet. I would recommend this amp to anyone. I do love this amp. It has some great tones. EQ is very responsive. Unfortunately for me it is not what I am looking for. There is not enough versitlity in this amp for me. I am that guy who needs 3 channels at minimum. Yes you can do quite a bit with the 2 channels. I do wish they had made the rhythm clip footswitchable. The would have made a world of difference. You can get good tone at low volume but like most Marshall's this amp likes to be loud. I do have to say this is the quietest amp I have ever used, very little noise when compared to others in this price range (I have tried many). I am still on the fence as to whether I will keep this or move to the JVM410HJS. Maybe I should just get both…… Bottom line: this is a great amp with great tones. You will need a overdrive to reach more modern distortion levels. I would buy again but not sure if it right for me at this time.JD

Really digging this module – the blue channel goes from classic rock to pretty heavy; the red channel has a ton of gain (get a noise gate if u play metal) and the string definition is still really good at higher gain settings. No scooping the mids here – the crushing diezel tone is in the mids on this moduleMO
Years ago when I went looking for a good tube amp whose distortion I liked for both rock and metal, I settled on an ENGL Invader 150 due to its versatility and lower price. (In retrospect I would probably have opted for the 100 if I did it over again, but I was new to tube amps at the time.) That said, when I asked the salesman at Chuck Levin's in D.C. what amp he liked best, he said the Diezel VH4 and demonstrated it for me right then. Had it not been for the price tag (even higher then), I would have taken his advice, but I kept it in mind and later found one used for something closer to what I I paid for the ENGL. After comparing them and all the other amps I've tried, I have to say the Diezel VH4 blows away every amp I've ever used for one simple reason: It just sounds good as is, without any tweaking. Set everything on the preamp to 12 and you're golden. I keep the "Deep" knob between 0 and 2 or 3 because it's got so much low end already adding too much in the master section can be overpowering when you're using 7 or 8 string guitars. But the low end isn't muddy like a lot of other amps–every note and chord is crystal clear. I do find channel 4's distortion to be a bit too noisy for my taste, and don't find it very useful when channel 3 already sounds great for rhythms or leads. With lighter or heavier strumming, setting channel 2 at the right level can give you a great mix of clean and dirty for different types of rock or punk. Also, I like the noise gate feature on the Invader, and wish the Diezel had one too. I am not a pedal board guy and like to keep my setup as minimal as possible. There are probably some other little features the ENGL and other amps have that the Diezel lacks, but they aren't so important to me. I do think the Diezel's control layout is much easier to distinguish visually than the ENGL. My only complaint is a slightly wider space between the EQ and the volume/gain knobs would make it even clearer.Jbob
One module I never even considered was the Diezel VH4. I (mistakenly) equated it to heavier genres. But when I received an email from Guitar Center about an extra 15% on trade ins, I grabbed some gear that I haven't used in years and traded it in. It was a toss up between the Diezel and Engl modules, but decided on the Diezel. I cannot believe how great this module is. The low end on this thing is tight and really sounds incredible through my 2×12 with a V30 and LynchBack in it. I was shocked how great it sounds. Of course I don't crank the gain, but it even sounds great with it cranked. I am both shocked and thrilled at how much I really love how a module, that I never thought about, sounds and fits my style so well. Just fantastic.lespauled

Sound: The clean channel is basically a low overdrive channel. Which is fine by me since I never use this amp for clean tones. The number 2 "classic" overdrive is really the best gain you can get for the price. I'm a firm believer in amp over pedals when it comes to distortion and this amp definitely delivers some serious distortion. Very good tribute to the old dime amps. Channel 3 is more suited to the newer "core" sound. It's my low channel for when I want to practice and not blow the windows off but if I turned it up it would rip paint off with the amount of gain. It's not a bad lead channel but the tone will take some time to match up if you tend to switch a lot. All in all, it's not an RH100 but it's not at all a bad amp. Especially for the price. Features: The built in noise gate is crap but it does help. The reverb has a tendency to over saturate and leave this annoying hum if you have it too high. The eq isn't over responsive but it's not dead so you can shape your tone fairly easily. I got around all of these problems by adding an eq turning down the reverb and getting a cheap noise gate and now it's near perfect. Ease of Use: It's a solid state amp so it's literally plug in and play. Finding a tone is fairly easy if you don't mind taking a minute and dialing it in. Footswitches make the world go round… Nuff said… Quality: It seems well made and I take pretty good care of my stuff so it should last a while. Value: This is pretty self explanatory… Manufacturer Support: Never needed it. The Wow Factor: For the price… WOW Overall: I got this in a pinch to go with an old orange cab for my band. I have always wanted a Randall Amp but have never had the means or opportunity to purchase one until now. There are pros and cons to this amp but the props most definitely outweigh the cons. Pros Amp's 3 channels make it very easy to switch between genres of music Clean channel is very crisp and other channels have enough "punch" to knock your socks off Buttons are well organized for ease of use and user functionality Built in bass boost and mid scoop make this amp unique Cons The only problem i have found is that it sometimes requires a noise gate in the effects loop as playing at higher gain settings sometimes causes it to hum. Though this is a solid state i feel as if it competes well with higher end tube amps. Overall this is amp is definitely worth the money.Nathaniel

Fantastic amp for the price! The clean channel is great, and has time delay effects that is unexpected for an amp in this range. The overdrive is excellent too, and you can control different frequencies as well. It also has two inputs for guitars, and a microphone input! So you can jam with friends and sing along.
