Reviews:
I love to sing. I picked up the guitar fifty years ago to accompany myself and never get tired of uncovering its mysteries. This is my first twelve string and I love it. I haven't owned several dozen high end guitars. I've owned a few. I'm very selective and careful in choosing what I like and then I stick with it; sometimes for decades. My first guitar was a Yamaha FG-150 and I've always been sorry I didn't hang onto it. Reading and digesting reviews coupled with a good dose of nostalgia guided me to this one. I had some reservations about twelve strings in general regarding tuning and keeping it in tune. Nothing to it. This guitar is remarkable in its ability to stay in tune. It is truly quite easy to play and sounds fantastic and full. I have short muscular farmer fingers and find this guitar quite easy to play. I attribute this to the shape of the neck which I find quite comfortable. Fit and finish is beautiful and I particularly love the wood binding. It looks great in a less is more fashion and I couldn't be happier. In the month or so I've had it this guitar has been in daily use without an issue. At this price this guitar is a tremendous value and I have no problem in recommending you get yourself one if you can. Enjoy yourselves and don't forget to practice.I don't have one. Pen name is So
Great sounding guitar out of the box. No adjusting needed. It's been a long time that my chest gets a good rumble from the low end of a guitar. This one does it. The mids are just right and highs are where they should be. I don't know why I have not discovered a LL series Yamaha guitar before. I have had all the expensive brands. I have played and preformed for over 30 years. For the money, this guitar is the best one I have ever bought. I will continue to preform with it……The better the guitar, the better I feel & sound………Jeffjeffe1490
I'm simply blown away by how well this guitar performs. This is the first Yamaha I've ever owned and straight up purchased it because my incredible service engineer Josh recommended it. IMO This Yamaha out performs guitars that cost significantly more. I think this one is a keeper if it holds up to the daily grind. Thanks again Josh and Sweetwater!
2. Yamaha Fs-Ta Transacoustic Acoustic Electric Guitar – Brown Sunburst
Product Details:
This guitar is in good condition. there are a few minor dings and scratches in the finish of the body and neck/headstock and minimal fretwear visible, but nothing that negatively affects the structural integrity or performance, acoustically. the electronics and effects, however, are not currently functional. a solid spruce top sits atop mahogany back and sides with innovative scalloped bracing for enhanced projection and resonance. this concert body acoustic lends itself well to flatpicking and articulate phrasing, with a chimney, rich voice. all instruments purchased from small box music include a complete inspection and custom setup from our in-house luthier at no additional charge.

Reviews:
I bought this guitar from a local shop strictly as a worship instrument for Sunday mornings. It absolutely destroyed every other guitar at the music shop +/- 500 in either direction. I still hold that it is likely the best guitar in its price range for the quality of its construction and sound quality. There is virtually not a single flaw this instrument possesses… But can we talk about the electronics? The guitar is super odd… I mean, if you are odd too, it is probably your dream guitar. It has a poor-man's tone wood amp build in. When you turn it on, it runs 90's sounding special effects out the soundhole, which is pretty cool. Here is the problem, the controls are super minimal. So minimal that you can't tell whether this bad boy is on or off. We found out the hard way that when this guitar is plugged in, the battery is always draining, even when the sound system is off. This is not atypical, but it gets weirder. The guitar won't turn off when plugged in, but sometimes needs to be turned on (?) when the batteries are dying. There is no indicator to tell you when it is running low on power, so you might find out on stage halfway through Glorious Day. There is actually no indicator for anything electric on this guitar, except for a sliding piece of plastic that sits under the dials that might be useful if it didn't look like you were supposed to cut it out and throw it away. The whole control setup is just annoying and unnecessarily vague. Long story short, with an electronics upgrade, this guitar would be unbeatable. It has more power than it deserves, almost like the guys a Yamaha are professionally sound-profiling the tops, which is something you would expect only on guitars above the 2000 range.Benjo
Where to start with this… Out of the box, once tuned the guitar feels like a quality product. The fitted Elixir strings (I'm guessing a 0.12 brass or bronze set) give the guitar a very bright, clear tone, exactly what I wanted. It is a bright sounding instrument, so others may want to experiment with other string sets. The action is good and low, although compared to the guitar I was playing the fretboard is very flat, not much of a camber at all, a minor complaint which may not apply to everyone and I got used to it quickly. The neck itself is comfortable with a slightly matte finish which I find aids playability, somehow. The design is conservative with small inlays and a transparent scratchplate; I may replace the scratchplate with something more interesting one day but not while it's so new. All in all, a great, solid instrument for its price bracket. Oh yeah, it's also got this on board soucery which applies reverb and chorus through the body of the guitar. These effects are awesome but their real benefit is to make you want to play for longer, simply because you sound better. These effects also apply to the line out; this is also a fully-fledged electro-acoustic. The only drawback here is that the preamp lacks any kind of equaliser, but who cares about that when any amp or sound desk has these functions? That all makes this guitar an all-rounder. A solid acoustic instrument with on board tricks for busking or practicing (your buddies will be jealous if you're having an unplugged jam on the beach, too) as well as being the electro-acoustic you want if you're gigging. I swear, I am not being paid by Yamaha. Check it out on YouTube – some great demos of this guitar on there.Adam W.
Every time I pick this guitar up, I get more joy out of than the last time I picked it up. As others have noted: this guitar sounds amazing even without the transacoustic sound effects! IMO, it sounded better than much more expensive Taylors! So, yeah, not only does this guitar "sound great," but it's price is absolutely reasonable too! What's even more amazing: reviewers who pick this guitar up, on YouTube, seem to gush over it! I'm so happy to have one!Michael

Reviews:
I purchased this guitar for my 11 year old daughter. I wanted to find a quality instrument that is smaller in size, easy to play, and stays in tune. I have owned other Yamaha guitars before, and they are a great guitar for the price. The Yamaha FG JR1 did not disappoint! The guitar is easy to play, stays in tune and it sounds pretty good for a small guitar. The strings do feel a little heavy for a beginner. I would definitely recommend changing the strings to a lighter gauge for a beginning player. I recommend the Ernie Ball Earthwood Silk and Steel Extra Soft 10-50. They’re a great string for tender young fingers.Jimmy
I bought the Yamaha JR2 for my daughter as a Christmas present and I was surprised. I didn't expect it to be that good because of its price but WOW!!! The resonance is unbelievable given that it's not made from solid wood and the neck is so comfortable, perfect for kids who are learning. This is my third guitar from Better Music and they never disappoint me. The guitars are well set up and the packaging is unbelievable every time. It just shows how much they value their customers and that's why I keep coming back. I don't usually leave reviews but I appreciate what these guys are doing. Keep up the good work!Marvin B.
I bought this on the 7th birthday of one of my twin girl. I was on a tight budget of around $100 and then I thought to speak to one of the representatives at SamAsh. After having a talk with him I was convinced to get a good guitar to start even though I have to stretch my budget. Since my family is a newbie in musical instruments i am happy that my girl is interested in learning music. She is very happy and we are thinking to take her to few lessons. It's well-made and offers a good tone. Great buy!!Preeti

Reviews:
Overall: So, I have owned this guitar for several months now. It is without a doubt a very good sounding guitar, it's up there with my Gibson's and Martins. Strumming or finger picking it just sounds amazing. I did not love the string spacing, so I replaced the nut with a bit wider spacing for my style of playing. The whole point about me taking the plunge on this guitar was that it was all solid woods, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and one of Yamahas absolute best acoustics available. I have no regrets buying this guitar at all. My friends are amazed at the beauty and sound of this very well-built guitar. The electronics do a good job plugged into the PA for playing live, and it will amaze you how good it sounds unplugged all by itself. I never thought I would buy anything but Martin or Gibson's…. this changed my mind completely. if you're thinking about one of these just buy one!! My honest opinion is the price will go up on these as the solid woods and craftsmanship are stunning.Michael
I’ve had my A3M for three years now. I still look at mahogany wood grain in awe. This guitar has a nice rounded tone that can compete with Taylor and Martin guitars made from mahogany. Plugged into an acoustic amp sounds even better. I notice the price point has increased $100 (not sure of due to inflation) which shows that it is a respected instrument. I spent months spinning around for a acoustic guitar and I was truly pleased with the Yamaha A3M. I think it can keep up with Martin and Taylor on stage as a reliable gig machine.bryan nuñez
Had my Yamaha Fg140 1972 red label stolen. Bought this guitar as a lower price replacement. It has the Yamaha sound I was looking for. Very close to my vintage one. It lacks the depth of the original. With laminated back and sides,I was expecting this. I'd say it gets me 90 % there. Playability is excellent. Nice low action without buzz. This gives me a good guitar while I save for a better one. The fit and finish is excellent. No blems or flaws. Nice tuner, haven't tried the pickup yet. I hope this is a valuable review to someone looking at this guitar.

The fg850 dreadnought is all-mahogany with mahogany body binding which gives it a warm, woody design to match the distinctive richness in the middle frequencies. like all of yamaha's newer fg models, it is louder and stronger in the low- to mid-ranges, thanks to cutting-edge acoustic analysis technology developed by the yamaha r&d division. yamahas engineers have achieved this sound by utilizing analysis and simulation to arrive at the best bracing design without depending on tradition or guesswork. this analysis led to the development of a new scalloped bracing pattern that maintains the durability of the top board while bringing out the most sound the yamaha fg850 has to offer.no case or bag included.serialized ihz170693featuresbodybody type: dreadnoughtcutaway: non-cutawaytop wood: solid mahoganyback & sides: mahoganybracing pattern: scalloped body finish: glossorientation: right handedneckneck shape: info not availablenut width: 1.69 in. 12. Yamaha Ll6m/are Mahogany Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar
Product Details:
Just like the ll16 series we have raved about, but with a layered back and side wood for more of a durable “road worthy” and value based instrument. still a good solid top though (which is where 80% of your sound comes from) and all other specs are on par concerning quality and craftsmanship. we are completely blown away by the raw power and tone. when we first became a yamaha dealer we didn’t know what quite to expect exactly. we were already big fans of their old “red label” guitars from the late 60’s, and we knew they made great student model guitars for all styles of players interested in acoustic music in general. but how well was some of their nicer offerings going to stack up in our high demand “bluegrass world?” our findings are very positive to say the least. we got in several of these “ll” series guitars and virtually sold all of them initially before even getting them listed on the site. i (jake) even bought one of these gems to compliment my other guitars. it’s just crazy how much tone and volume this guitar produces, especially for the price, and how the sound fills the room. it is dry and well balanced from note to note as well, and every little subtlety is conveyed with the slightest touch of the string. and it plays sooo easy (especially after our professional touch). the feel of the neck is superb and the fret work is impeccable. the craftsmanship is way way up there. well beyond most any guitars in this price range. fit and finish are awesome, and the sunburst on this one is incredibly fetching. the look is very nice and the appointments are well done…but the real star of the hour is the structural parts of the guitar. layered mahogany back and sides, solid engleman spruce top with their acoustic resonance enhancement treatment (think torrefied/aged), mahogany neck with double rosewood reinforcement strips, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and their special “c” block style neck block to prevent neck angle shifting over the years. they really thought of everything. not only does it play and sound right up there with the best of them in this range, but it’s built in a way to last many decades. and!!! if all that weren’t enough, this guitar also features their “zero impact” pickup system which is designed to produce a very natural tone (similar in design to k&k) and also leaves the natural tone of the guitar unaffected when not plugged in. and it works on all fronts brilliantly. includes full professional setup, strap button install, and free shipping within lower 48 us. modified dreadnought design solid engelmann spruce topa.r.e. aging technologymahogany back & sides5-ply mahogany & rosewood neckrosewood fingerboardquality tunerssrt zero impact passive pickup
