I read several reviews before purchasing, so I wasn't expecting perfection. I like the unique tweed-like look, and the fact that it matches my blonde Alvarez guitar. The case is kind of a ten-footer, though. It looks classy standing in the corner, but close inspection reveals that the lid doesn't line up perfectly, the storage compartment door "hinge" is just the fuzzy clothing lining, and the faux tweed cover has bubbles and a line or two where it was hastily slapped onto the adhesive coat beneath. The inner and outer cover stitching misses a spot here and there, but not enough to worry about. Again, not unreasonable at the price point. The only thing I'm really slightly disappointed with is that it doesn't fit my new Alvarez Jumbo guitar like a glove – more like a generic case with gaps and wriggle room here and there. Heck, I bought a Chromacast for my Alvarez dread and it fit like they were made for each other. I'm not sure why several people complain about a smell. Those folks would probably be offended by new-car-smell too.Rob
While this case will technically fit an AF80CE-12, it will also fit any banjo, ukulele, or violin. This Alvarez jumbo 12-string moves around excessively inside of this JC1 case (J for jumbo). There is probably about 1/2 inch of open space around the guitar side when it is flush up against the other side, but that is not the big issue. There is about an inch of lateral movement (headstock to bottom strap button) within the case. At one extreme, the headstock is touching the end of the case and will bear the brunt of any fall. I bought this to hold my new practice guitar. It is just what I wanted and thought I was getting. It looks good because I like the tweek-like look and the sculpted, arched look as opposed to a flat, thin cardboard look. I has decent clasps that close with only a little pushing to get them aligned. The lining is decent and doesn't have any strong smells. It has all the features I like, like four clasps as opposed to three or five, Feet bumpers on the back and the side to protect the fabric. A good size storage bin and best of all, extra room at the headstock so I can leave my Snark tuner on the headstock when I case my guitar. Awesome. The case is not constructed with precision. The alignment is decent, but not precise. The liner fits the case, but is high on some areas and slightly low on others. Fortunately there are no gaps or unglued spots, so for an economy case I am pleased. Another perk for me, is the Alvarez badge on the outside that matches the guitar. I am pleased.Whitehouse Willie

The most important thing is that my Sire A4 Grand Auditorium (GA) (with cutaway) is slightly wider at the bulge in the bottom width of the guitar compared to a typical dreadnaught acoustic. After much research, I found even the Sire softshell case is TOO small for the Sire A4 Grand auditorium body width across it's widest point. I returned a couple of different cases to Sweetwater (which they did with VERY little issue). TBH, it was probably me that didn't realize the dreadnaught version of the acoustic is slightly narrower in width compared to the GA. Bottom line: The gator cases I've owned in the past have ALL been great for the price. I paid about $150 for this one, and it fits and seems to be very high quality. I don't gig anymore, so I can't give you a review of how it would handle an actual 3 month tour with roadies handling it. I just don't have that experience anymore. My positive recommendation for this case simply comes from the fit, the initial quality, the reasonable price, and the piece of mind to feel your acoustic is protected. Also, I buy from Sweetwater because they have made it SUPER EASY to end up with the right piece of equipment. Their customer service doesn't suck. Jeff
I just recently purchased a Yamaha FS-TA (TransAcoustic) guitar which is a smaller concert body. I couldn't find any case that my guitar would fit into like a glove. Many headaches later and after tons of research, bingo! This is the perfect case. I have to admit there was another case by Road Runner which was for a classical guitar that was a good fit. However, its build was not very good. It had stitching that was coming apart. So do yourself and fork up the extra cash because it's worth it!Richie

Well made for the money. The picture doesn't really show the quality, but it's there. My Gibson SG standard fits a little loose, but not enough to move around with the lid closed. Sound: N/A Features: The separate interior compartment was one of the reasons for the purchase but nothing fit. Gibson Les Paul Standard doesn't fit. The neck isn't supported thus causing the body to rock back and forth. Kramer Assault 220+ does not fit. Same problem with the neck as the LP. PRS SE Fredrik Akesson doesn't fit because the body is too thick. Ease of Use: N/A Quality: The outer plastic case material felt thin and flimsy. It'll probably protect your guitar during daily carry but I don't think it'll survive an impact. The latches and hinges are terrible. The latch metal and plating is rough and sharp on the edges. All the latch pivot pins are bowed, I suspect from tension keeping the cover closed tight. The hinges are mounted slightly crooked with the middle hinge mounted on a curve so the edges stick out. All around poor selection of hardware and poor workmanship. The blown foam interior is smaller that the case leaving a 1/4 inch space all the way around. The plush interior hides this gap but it's significant. One of the desiccant packets was open inside (?!) and a few of the little pellets are now rolling around underneath … which means there's airspace underneath! I though it was solid foam? Guess not. Value: I'm not sure what fits in this case … properly … but for $109, its quality and workmanship is marginal and a far cry from the PRS hard case I tried for $177. I would put this in the $60 range but maybe I'm expecting too much. Manufacturer Support: N/A The Wow Factor: It looked good until I actually got it in my hands. Overall: Overall, not worth it. I give this bag only 3 stars because unless Gator upgraded the bag or is making it in the U.S., I don't see the reason for the price increase. I bought one of these for a Sterling by Music Man bass as I was under the impression Gator bags were made in the U.S. when, come to find out, they're made in China (as are Fender gig bags). As the photos indicate, this bag will work for a Fender P Bass, but the Fender FB620 is a better bag for that and other Fender bass guitars while presently costing 10 less than the Gator while offering better protection and features. The Gator GB-4G seems to be more of a universal fit bag accommodating a wider range of sizes. The thing it seemed to have going for it the most was its zipper which seemed heavy duty. I'm giving this bag only 3 stars on account of the price increase; for it used to cost about 4-5 less than the Fender FE620 but now costs about 10 more than? Unless it has improved features or is being made in the U.S., I don't see the reason for the price increase as the FE620 gig bag provides better protection and features (for Strat size guitars anyway). I purchased one in May 2021 and only because as I was of the impression Gator bags were made in the U.S. when, come to find out, they're made in China (as are Fender gig bags). I should have sized things up beforehand since the Sterling by Music Man Cutlass I bought the bag for is essentially a slightly shorter, slightly sleeker version of a Strat (for which the FE620 was made). The best thing the Gator bag seemed to have going for it was the zipper which seemed rather heavy duty while mesh pockets on the front of a gig bag aren't particularly practical while being subject to tearing/ripping. As you can see by the photos, there's too much room in the bag for a Strat size guitar (though one might be able to insert the headstock into the bag's internal top pocket to prevent the guitar from sliding around too much in the bag). The Gator GB-4G ELEC Series Gig Bag is more of a universal fit bag better suited for guitars longer and/or wider than a Strat.Vice

I usually have to get my cases on-line because the selection at our local shops is pretty limited. With that in mine,there is always a certain amount of risk involved concerning purchasing something before I see it. And I can't say that I've always been happy with what arrived at the front door. My return experiences, however, have usually been pleasant enough, just the usual waste of time though. But when this one arrived I was literally floored. It was actually a lot more than I expected. The exterior screams vintage, a light brown, leather looking textured material. (apparently I can't spell vynyl, so..) And the interior is old school plush Gibson pink, complete with that velvet blanket attached and gold hardware. This is a dead ringer for the case that came with my LP Custon 30 years ago. The pink interior sort of clashes with my Heritage Cherry SG, but it's a good clash, colorful to say the least. The fit is perfect. There's no movement at all once the guitar is tucked in. The Fender Jumbo Acoustic Case is pretty amazing considering it was $69! Lid and latch alignment are spot on. Interior is plush, clean and padded in the right spots. Outside there is slight tolex separation at side seam and slight glue exposure along bottom edge seam but, overall very clean tight workmanship. It fits my Yamaha jumbo very well. Purchased Fender's T-bucket Bass a few months ago, but the store didn't have the case. They had to order and the price with shipping was outrageous for me to buy. last week saw the cost of the case with free shipping and to me,from MusiciansFriend. Purchased and a deal that made sense. I bought this case mainly as a way to keep my acoustic humidified over the winter. So far it's doing a great job at that. My only issue is that the flap to the storage compartment was cut very crooked leaving a pretty sizable gap on one side. Large enough for a Kyser capo to fit through. For a brand like Fender and for this price, I would expect a little better quality control, so I'm taking one star off. It's not enough of a flaw to send back, but it's definitely enough to be disappointing and irritating. Otherwise great case. I would still recommend it.

I bought one of these for a Sterling by Music Man bass as I was under the impression Gator bags were made in the U.S. when, come to find out, they're made in China (as are Fender gig bags). As the photos indicate, this bag will work for a Fender P Bass, but the Fender FB620 is a better bag for that and other Fender bass guitars while presently costing 10 less than the Gator while offering better protection and features. The Gator GB-4G seems to be more of a universal fit bag accommodating a wider range of sizes. The thing it seemed to have going for it the most was its zipper which seemed heavy duty. Unless it has improved features or is being made in the U.S., I don't see the reason for the price increase as the FE620 gig bag provides better protection and features (for Strat size guitars anyway). I purchased one in May 2021 and only because as I was of the impression Gator bags were made in the U.S. when, come to find out, they're made in China (as are Fender gig bags). I bought this case for my vintage 1961 Goya G-10 Acoustic Classical guitar which I love so much. The case is build very well, especially for the price…I was very impressed. The latches are slightly on the loose side of things when latched…but they hold. As for the fit w/ my Goya G-10…..this case fits tight but I think it will take the shape of the guitar a little better as it settles and breaks in over time. The "inside measurements" in the description are very accurate. The coolest thing of all is I tried another old timer favorite acoustic guitar of mine inside this case and it FITS so well with just enough slack inside, IMO is a perfect fit for my departed Grandfathers old acoustic that I grew up noodling on…..a 1964 Silvertone "parlor" size acoustic guitar. So happy it fits in there that I am gonna order another case for the Silvertone and one more for my other Goya G-10. Highly recommend for the Silvertone old 60s parlor guitars for sure!!!!
The Gator GWE ¾ Economy Acoustic Guitar Case is a good fit for a RainSong 12-fret parlor (CH-PA). It took about an hour for the stuffing to compress where closing the case took no minimal extra effort (due to the depth of the RainSong). Here are the numbers in inches: Option: Total Length x Body Length x Lower Bout x Depth; Gator Interior: 38 x 19 x 13.74 x 4; Martin 12 fret 0: 37.75 x 19.125 x 13.5 x 4.0625; RainSong P12: 37.5 x 18.8 x 13.3 x 4.1; An interesting external dimension comparison (my measurements) GSmini Hard Bag: 39 x 16 x 6; Gator GWE ¾: 39.75 x 15.75 x 5.75; This case is not a top-of-the-line wood case and I don't think worthy of being used for checked luggage (maybe no wood case is). But it is as compact as it is going to get and a good option for that occasional gate checked carry-on. Since RainSong makes 12 and 14 fret Parlor guitars, their stock case is likely a couple of inches longer (and probably a more expensive AND HEAVIER case). It appears MF gets them bulk packaged, their shipping box was not that sturdy, and was very beaten up by UPS. There were dents in the case but not enough to bother returning (it is a testament to the case's construction that it was otherwise undamaged). Wow! I could tell by the picture that it looked like a really nice acoustic guitar case. I was really impressed and absolutely thrilled when I received it however. When I opened it, the case actually held it`s shape and did not flop over like other "soft shells". Stood straight up on its own. Empty! Looks and feels to me like the entire perimeter along the sides are re-enforced with a very durable foam like cushion or possibly a plastic frame of some sort. Maybe? Also love all of the different straps and handles for the way you may need to carry it. Nice large storage pocket too for all of the accessories you need! Finally, you just can`t beat the price on a quality case such as this one. It is by far, worth every penny you pay for it! Highly recommended! 10 stars!pjrocks216

This Musicians Choice product is inexpensive – and no worse than the significantly-more-costly, official, Gibson-branded SG case. That's not saying much, though. The neck rest is about 1/3 of an inch too high. That means that, since the body portion of the case lid has a pad that presses down on your SG's body, closing the case puts serious pressure on the headstock of your guitar. Essentially, unmodified, this case is perfectly designed to break your SG at the headstock, if it's subjected to any, even fairly minor, banging around – such as by airport baggage handlers. If you have modest shop skills – and somewhat more advanced upholstery chops – you can carefully remove the velveteen cloth from the neck rest block, remove the block and sand its bottom down about 1/3 inch, then reinstall (re-glue) the block to the bottom of the case, and then trim and re-glue the velveteen to cover it. Voila! Your SG case now actually PROTECTS your guitar, instead of endangering it. Again, it bears repeating that the Gibson-branded case has EXACTLY the same design defect. The Musicians Choice version is just a slavish copy. If you want actual protection without having to modify the case, buy an ABS-molded, third-party, high-end case and leave both this one and its Gibson equivalent on the shelf.thomst
Excellent case for the price! I keep all my guitars in cases on a guitar rack in my studio. I needed a case for my SG without spending $100 or more on a case. I no longer do any gigs, so this case fit the bill for my needs. As in other reviews, my SG fit like a glove. Are there higher quality, more expensive cases out there? Yes. But for home protection against dust, or accidental fall mishaps, or short trips to a jam session, it's perfect! If your needs are somewhat similar to mine, I'd say, Don't hesitate! The case described is a 3" thick flat top case for a solid body, and the case GC sent (3 times…!) was a 5" thick case with a top bubble for an archtop. Even the tag on the case says it's for an archtop… It's a great budget case that fits a Telecaster loosely, and it will protect the guitar in my trunk exponentially better than any gig bag and will serve its purpose, so it's a keeper. The case sent is really the other more expensive Musician's Gear Archtop Deluxe Case at the solid body case price, and there's not a lot of other options in this price range.Smitty
