Reviews:
This is a great bass. I can compare it to a BBP34 I have, also from MusicStore. It is very easy to play, a very thin neck. The sound compares to the BBP, it has the same nuances. It responds well to setup changes. One modification was really necessary: shielding, I covered all cavities in aluminum foil and connected to ground. Now it is silent. I will still replace the bridge, it is not so stable, the string-saddles tend to move sideways. But for this money it is acceptable. All in all a very nice bass for 20% the cost of a BBP – and they sound almost the same! If you want to try a 5-string, try this one. You will not regret it.

I searched for the Candy Apple Red for a year and a half. Finally found it at Kraft Music as a bundle. Everything I needed was included. I have owned and played many high-end Basses, Drumsets, Guitars etc and since 1998 I own and love a Yamaha BBN5A as my primary Jazz Bass.
This TRBX305 ROCKS, the neck amazing and the humbuckers are super hot yet fizz free. The 5 position switch does exactly as advertised. Flawlessly shifting from finger to slap or solo. As anyone who plays Yamaha already knows, quality, playability, sound and finish are impeccable. I love this Bass. Thanks to Kraft Music for being Santa this year.zack short

The yamaha trbx305 is a very versatile bass guitar that's suitable for all genres of music. including metal. it has a mahogany body and a set of ceramic pick-ups which can provide warm, beefy, punchy sounds. it also has a smooth low action so it's comfortable to play. the one unique feature on this bass is the 5-way tone switch. this switch has eq settings for all styles of playing. so rather if you play finger-style or play with a pick, the tone switch has a sound selection for any playing technique. I play metal and I personally dig this bass for it's warm punchy sounds. rather if I play live or record music, it fills up the band mix quite well. it also works well with the effects I use. not to mention it sounds killer with overdrive and distortion effects. I'm not quite sure what trbx stands for, but judging from it's incredible sound quality, I'm guessing that trbx stands for totally radical bass xtreme! \m/ lol anywho, if you play metal and wanted to try something a little different, this is a good bass to check out.Metal alex
Rec'd it new in the box from Sam Ash. Candy Apple Red looks very nice. I didn't get as lucky as some in that the set up was not very good. I mean, it plays really easy, but fret buzz all over the neck which comes through the amp. Too low I guess. It didn't want to "keep" the battery in without some fumbling around. Stayed in once the lid was closed. There is a small cut on the side of the fretboard, but doesn't look like an issue. Sounds pretty good in this price range. Played an Ibanez 655 which smoked it in every way, but just out of the price range at this time (near twice the price). So, new strings and 65 bucks for a set up and I think this will be fine for awhile. In this price range I am not dissapointed. It is what I expected except for hoping I could get away without having to have it set up for just a bit. Actually, in this price range, it really is the best I have seen.Chuck

Great instrument at price point. I like how it feels and how it plays.John
The bass has excellent tone. Was exactly what I expected. Was not happy about the loose tuning peg which buzzes from the vibration of the strings, but will find a way to make it stop. Fret buzz on the A and D string on the first fret of each one is an issue which leads me to believe that the nut is not properly fitted. Pickup buzz from the lower bridge pickup will mean that I will not be able to record with this bass. That being said, for practice and jamming purposes it will definitely be ok. Still despite these minor issues, love the tone of the bass.CroRoc462
Absolute classic. So much tone.Christopher A.

Reviews:
I've been playing for over 30 years. I mainly play a fretless bass but I like to play a fretted bass at times. My old fretted bass is worn out and spending 2k on an instrument that isn't my main go to bass is not something I'm going to do. This Yamaha is a great bass. The finish is perfect. Even in the hole to adjust the truss rod. I got the translucent black and It's a very black matte look. The frets are not super polished but are not sharp or sloppy. They play really nice, stand tall, and are capable of a wide variety of tones with different playing stlyes. The 5 piece neck is really playable. I'm really digging it. Mine is perfectly adjusted right out of the box. Tuning pegs have a really cool gunmetal finish and are adjustable if the ever get sloppy. Bridge is the same gunmetal finish and isn't high mass but it's not flimsy like the stock fender and it is the standard 5 screw type if I ever decided to change it. I don't think I'll do it anytime soon. The sustain resonates so well. Maybe better than my pricey fretless. I'm really into the mahogany body. Mine came with the intonation setup perfectly. It shipped detuned as it should've. All I did was stretch the string and tune it. Man do these electronics shine. I've got to spend some more time really learning the controls but I was able to dial in a few tones I wanted to try immediately. My first impression of the strings is that they really suck. Maybe that's true but they do play well and they're not dead but I bought a set of my favorite strings that I'll get on when I get sick of these. Overall I got a lot more bass than I expected for the money. A beginner could really grow into this and more advanced players should be quite satisfied.ZioEnzo
The Yamaha TRBX305 Bass Guitar itself: There is nothing to fault this guitar – particularly at this price point. It is beautifully finished and constructed and infinitley playable with no set up needed – right out of the box. Whilst it lacks a dedicated 'mid' tone control there is plenty of tonal variation available to suit all styles, especially given the novel five way eq toggle switch. Personally I bought this for recording purposes and prefer to leave things pretty flat and post eq in the mix. I dont think I would have any difficulty getting this to cut in a live situation on the fly though. If you are in any way doubtful of this instrument in terms of tone, purpose or playability – don't be. I reckon its a good work horse that will satisfy most general bass purposes. If you are a beginner looking for an instrument that is affordable and not going to hold you back as you grow into it – look no further. This is a really really good guitar. If you are a pro – just looking for a five string for a change, you won't be disappointed. AND – look how much it costs!? Really, its a no brainer. Why not buy two, – one for evening and the other for day wear. DV247 Music Store: I searched high and low for this instrument – a lot of suppliers were constantly out of stock. They also had it priced at least £50 above what I paid with DV247 Music Store. When I placed the order I hadn't realised the guitar would ship from Germany, but it did. It arrived in good time non-the less and in a factory sealed box, all snug perfect and shiny. Great value DV247 Music Store, and great service. I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you.
First, I saw it in a shop just out of the corner of my eye and it grabbed my attention. So, I am usually not a fan of Yamaha, holding this bass in my hands convinced me in seconds I found it easy to play because of the neck form, which is curved asymmetrical, giving a good grip for my thumb. The when the seller passed me the cable to a very cheap amp, I was immediately sure that this is an exceptional bass guitar for a good price. As I am also not a fan of active electronic, the possibility to switch between active and passive is well done, and when during a concert your battery gives up, there is no big problem to switch to passive and change the battery before the next song. I love to take this bass when I do not know what the meeting with other musicians is about, and even with electronic music it can cope. The bass is very light and easy to carry, it is easy to play and playing with the active electronic gives you a huge variety of modern sounds, that is really nice to experiment with. Surprisingly for me Yamaha did a lot of innovative things with this bass guitar and a lot of things right. Meanwhile I am used to the thin grey matt painting and somehow, I started liking it. It makes the bass looking just different from any other. Try it! I also think that the bass is worth each penny.EL Principe de la Navarte

Reviews:
Yamaha consistently puts out great instruments and this bass is no different. The neck is smooth and easy to play, the pickups sound great and the tone control is out of this world. You can dial in the most specific changes you want from bright and punchy to a low dark rumble. It's quality built and has a great feel and the ease of playability is what makes this stand out from the crowd. This is a stellar choice for any bass player looking to expand their sound.Matty P
Very solid bass for he intermediate guitarist looking for a fairly versatile 5 string. Comes at a great price with very little sacrifice of value and playability. The large size of the M3 pickups that come stock are defiantly noticeably clear and defined in sound. Amazing or practice and active gigging
If you're looking to get into bass, or want to add an affordable 5 string to your arsenal, this is a great choice, especially if you play heavy music. This bass shares a lot of features and aesthetics with an Ernie Ball Stingray or Bongo, at a quarter the price. It's active electronics allow a lot of shaping right there on the bass, and it's one of the lowest priced active electronics I've seen on a bass. Between that and the 2 humbuckers, this bass has output for days.DJ Jazzy Josh

Reviews:
Bass arrived 4/26/21, Intonation was spot on, and set up was textbook. Light tuning and she is ready to play. A lot of Bass for the price. Gig bag was functional. Seemed sturdy and protects as designed. My 1st Yamaha Bass. Attention to detail is evident throughout. I hit a home run on this purchase. AMS pay as you go is great. Buy one. You can’t go wrong.
The pickup blend work better than others, and I like that the active pre-amp's output volume matches the output volume of the bass in passive mode. The P pickup is strong and sounds like a P. The J pickup can sound a bit reedy as-is but is easily beefed up with a light bit of EQ in active mode. The bass is comfortable, and came from the manufacturer nearly perfectly intonated. I only had to adjust the B string, and not by much.Fat Nermil
A quick update after an issue. In my original review I noted a couple of quality related issues. That has come home. With a prominent gig pending I had the neck-P pup fail in rehearsal. Panning to it yielded zero while panning away was nothing but J. Both active and passive. So it goes for a warranty repair. But I stilled gigged it for one song that needed low D and I didn't want to drop the E on my other basses. The EQ suite was/is robust enough to compensate and got me close to the tone I wanted with the bridge-J pup alone. That's the good news. But the episode cost the model a 'star'. On a side issue, the Yamaha hardshell case is not worth acquiring. It will not securely hold the instrument, but looks great not doing it. Either stay with the gig-bag (which holds it better) or go for a better after-market case. On a good note, the relaxed bridge angle still has yet to break my standard flat La Bellas. That's a win!Tuna27

Excellent quality guitar, love the colour and so easy to play once setup to your style of playReviewed by Absolute Music custo
8. Yamaha Bb735a Electric Bass Guitar, 5-String (With Case), Sunburst
Product Details:
Music isn't just something you "do" anymore– it's your life. the yamaha bb735a 5-string bass will immediately make you want to get on stage or hit the record button. combining the crisp, penetrating tone, and serious flexibility of active pickups with the punch and sustain of a 6-bolt miter neck joint, the 700 models can be relied on to deliver an extraordinarily versatile sound that you can adapt to any genre or environment. alder/maple/alder body constructionthe bb features an alder/maple/alder multi-laminated body construction. the hard maple center increases body stiffness and accentuates midrange to cut through the mix of a band, and allows a more uniform transmission of vibrations between the body and the maple neck for unparalleled resonance and sustain. compared to a conventional bolt-on joint, miter bolting offers more efficient transfer of string vibration throughout the body, for improved sustain and outstanding resonance that brings every note to life. 6-bolt miter neck jointmiter bolting holds the neck closer and tighter to the body fusing these two separate components into one. compared to a conventional bolt-on joint, miter bolting offers more efficient transfer of string vibration throughout the body, for improved sustain and outstanding resonance that brings every note to life. ygd custom v7 pickupsalnico magnets produce a fat yet penetrating tone that works in combination with the unique alder/maple/alder construction of the 700 and pro models for an organic, well-defined sound. active circuitthe bb700 models feature a specially tuned active/passive circuit for fine tonal control and extreme flexibility. this updated circuit has been retuned for the bb for a crisper tone and improved mids via a level-matched output whether in passive or active mode and tone-switching circuitry that seamlessly moves from treble control to master passive tone. high-quality gold plated parts are used for key signal chain contacts, providing increased conductivity and reliability and a battery alert led installed on the back panel gives instant indication of low power to eliminate sudden power loss during performance. controlthe 700 models feature active pickups with a 3 band eq, a pickup balancer, and an active/passive switch, for enhanced versatility and flexibility when shaping your sound. lightweight tunerslighter weight tuners offer a better balance and complement the overall feel, providing a perfect match for the smaller, lighter body of the bb. convertible bridge and saddle for precise tone shaping: vintage plus bridgethe 700 and pro are equipped with the vintage plus bridge, which incorporates "diagonal body thru stringing," where strings are angled at the saddle and pass through the instrument to the bridge at a 45 degree angle, as opposed to the traditional vertical stringing method which places more stress on the strings. diagonal body thru stringing significantly reduces this stress while transferring string vibration to the body reliably and efficiently. strings can also be set to the tail end of the bridge, which comes equipped with a convertible saddle that can be adjusted to 2 different angles for more precise tonal shaping and feel. the rounder side of the saddle gives a slightly softer sound, while the more angled area produces a slightly tighter one. the brass saddle of the vintage plus bridge delivers a slightly deeper low-end, and the steel bridge plate offers a brighter tone. all screws and springs are made of stainless steel to guard against corrosion. five-piece neckthe bb series features a 5-ply maple and mahogany laminated neck, in a bolt-on design that delivers a sharp attack, and quick response. this durable construction resists warping and twisting and adds the tight, penetrating character of maple combined with the warmth of mahogany to the instrument's tone. neck shape current bb models feature a slightly thinner neck than previous bb basses, improving playability and feel for both modern and traditional players. lightweight tunerslighter weight tuners offer a better balance and complement the overall feel, providing a perfect match for the smaller, lighter body of the bb.
Reviews:
Sound: The bass has responsive pickups and an active eq that has some serious sweep on all three parameters Features: Super solid build, knobs/pots feel good. The sweeps on the active eq are pretty wide. Ease of Use: All on flat sounds nice. Not difficult to dial in tone quickly. The next is pretty thin and wide enough with comfortable spacing on the strings. The fret board radius is pretty flat. Quality: Fit and finish are stellar. It's way more function over fashion, but really well done. Frets feel great. Value: Absolutely. I'm usually cautious about Indonesian built, but this is my third instrument purchase in three years out of Indonesia and they've all been pretty solid. Korea's getting some serious competition. Manufacturer Support: N/A The Wow Factor: Stellar 5 string that I'd gig with regularly. Super solid and seriously versatile. Overall: Traditionally, I'm a 4 string guy these days, but I want the range back. I've owned several 5 strings, mostly Ibanez. Great basses, but the string spacing on their 5 string models is just too narrow for my taste. This bass has super comfy string spacing with a super flat fret board. Out of the box, I had to loosen the truss rod a hair over a 1/4 turn and it was perfect. Just a hair of intonation setting (totally normal for a new instrument) and I was good to go. Passive, this bass sounds rich and full and responds tonally just like you'd expect a P bass with PJ pups. However active, this bass comes to life. The active eq is dead simple to use. The knobs have the halfway stop in them as well as the blend control so there's less guess work. Add a little bass on the active eq and this bass growls pretty fierce. This is my first Yamaha instrument and certainly won't be my last.Jon
Overall: Ive had this bass a year now. So I can review it after some of the newness has worn off. Other than the sound. The weight and the smoothness on the back of the neck makes you not want to put it down. Somehow it seems to sound better now after a year. Its a beautiful bass. I have the brown sunburst. I get compliments everytime I pull it out. Great bottoom and mids. The highs are good also but if you dail in too much it gets harsh. So set the treble at 50% or less. The bottom end is outstanding. Its easy to get a great sound in passive mode also. The treble knob works as a tone knob on passive mode. I did another review because I didnt think my review or the others did this bass much justice. Its a 5 star professional bass. Ive been playing since 1980. So I know basses. No reason to buy a fender jazz or precision, spector or warwick. Ive played them. And this sounds better plays better and is more comfortable. If youre trully looking to buy a new bass in any price range.. Pick this one up and play it. You will fall in love. Thats not my opinion its a fact. If youre looking for an affordable 5 string bass with mordern electronics . This is the one. It doesnt matter if you want the p/j setup or not. You will find any tone ( other than the musicman) with this bass. I played a fender P/j and this one blows it away. At more than half the cost. BUY IT NOW BEFORE THEY GO UP OR STOP MANUFACTURING THEM..Maverick
Overall: I'm going to keep this short' let's just say if I found this bass first the 3 fenders and lakland I have would have never been bought. This bass is that good' a little single coil hum from the bridge pickup but that's to be expected in a PJ bass. Other wise I love this bass!Olando

For the last six months I have been trying to find a new bass. Went through Ibanez, Scheter, Music Man, Lakland and Fenders up to custom and limited editions. None played like the Yamaha BBP35 or even sounded as good as the BBP35. Hats off to Yamaha for a quality, professional bass. Played many basses through the years high end and expensive custom shops. Yamaha outplays them all.Raydio
Modern version from the BB lineup excels just the way, you would assume from Yamaha Japan model. Build quality is excellent, attention to details is what you would expect at this price point and the bass plays nicely straight out from the box. The sound from the stock pickups is clear and punchy, bass rings acoustically nicely (perhaps the ARE treatment actually does something) and this bass is fitted for studio use really well (It plays and sounds even across the strings and fretboard, feature rarely seen on even other basses at this price point). It tunes up really well, thanks to properly fit nut, good tuners + bridge and fretwork & feels super stable on hand, with good weight balance (Partly thanks to those ultralight tuners and ultra rigid construction). On comparison, the BBP35 offers much better value than comparable F branded P in five string mode and you are clearly getting a higher grade bass than BB735 here (after playing a several examples, they are super nice for the price though), in my honest opinion. The only thing which may leave you bit underwhelmed are the looks, but otherwise this is a top tier tool for those who know.
This instrument is absolutely in the top tier of other well known upper end builders. I find it to sound "classic", but at the same time having that something extra that BB's are known for plus great definition and clarity. The playability is superb and the build quality it up there with the best of them. I also do hear a difference with the wood treatment they use on these basses. It sounds played in and feels played in. This has become my workhorse instrument. I just love it.Gerry

Product Details:
This bass has been my main studio bass for years. it's in very good condition overall for its age. there are a few minor blemishes (please see photos); the worst is a small indent near the top of the pickups on the face…otherwise the others are minor, and none are through to the wood… lined fingerboard is in good condition. i only used half-rounds. please see photo for slight string wear…a good cleaning and light dressing will clean this right up. the previous owner made some extra dot markers on the side of the neck (pictured). they have a little dot of white paint in them. i decided to leave these when i bought the bass as they were useful under low light. a light sanding will remove them entirely. neck is straight, and the action is low and clean. truss rod works perfectly (there's a little chipping of the paint (pictured) where the tool goes in. electronics are in perfect working order & the bass ships in a hardshell case (the glue that holds the lid-straps at an angle let go years ago, so the case

This Bass Guitar Sounds Really Great, It Is Light, and Comfortable to Play. The Only Thing That I Don't Like About It, Is That It Is Short- 34 Inch Scale, Instead of 35 Inch. It Is Noticable, and You Have to Adjust Your Playing. 35 Inches, and It Would Be a Near Perfect Bass!micha-hubole
