Washburn 12 String Acoustic Guitar For Sale (Jan 2023 Update)

I am really impressed with this guitar. Wanted something to play a few tunes on in our live shows. This is a beautiful guitar. Love the comfort bevel on the top. It sounds great and is one of the best playing 12-strings I've ever played. Better than a Taylor I had. The pickup and preamp sound really good. I can run this straight to FOH but usually run it through my Trace Elliot Transit A. Highly recommended if your looking for a really good 12-string at a GREAT price.Richie

Pretty good action for a 12 string in this price range. Still a little tight but like a lot of players 12s work better at gigs for me when I'm peforming 2-3 hours on acoustics tuned down to eFlat. Love the tone, great amplified through my Bose. Love it overall.Gregmedia123

I have ten acoustic guitars and I love this Washburn 12 string .. the sound is loud and the resonation is good as with any 12 string tuning is tricky but this one does quite well in holding it's tune.. I would recomend it to anyone wanting a quality 12 string at a very very good price.. I hate to say iy but it feels better than some of my higher priced guitars R Williamsrexydog32659h

This guitar is absolutely Beautiful! It sounds better and plays better than a Gibson WM45 I used to have. The electronics work as they should and it is really nice to have an onboard tuner. This guitar sounds good as acoustic or plugged into an amp. I have had more acoustic guitars than I can count and the only one I would rate better is a Martin! The only slightly negative is the strings are a bit high up the neck but I have fixed that with others. I will shave some off the bottom of the bridge saddle and that will take care of it.Bob

This is an inexpensive laminate acoustic and it sounds like one, but in a very good way. The tone lacks a real wood sound which you should already know, but the tone you do get is rich and very full. The action makes this incredibly easy to play, probably too easy as better guitars will require more hand strength, but that is also what makes it so fun. The best thing other than the ease of playing and the extremely low maintenance (just leave it out on a stand and don't worry about humidity or anything else) is the responsiveness to different pick materials and picking style. The tone you get is entirely up to you and the range is amazing. This guitar is surprisingly resonant and has an almost amped sound when the strings are hit with different picking styles. Scratch the strings as you pick and the notes bloom with an intoxicating quality. Play with a bone or stone pick for even more resonance. It's lots of fun for the money. The only negative after owning it for several months is the need for a daily re-tune. Either I need new strings, or the tuners just go a little flat each day. I wouldn't expect them not to for the price. Its boomy and rich for the price and that's a lot of fun for a living room guitar. Pros: Amped sound, easy of play, low maintenance and worry free. Cons: Tuners won't hold from day to day. They do hold while you play.Guitar Player

Ignore the picture on the website. Imagine a cherry wood mirror. The kind that you can see your reflection in, in a well lit room. The finish is that good. Mine had a slight surface scuff on the right side that car wax took out easily. The sound, is even better, and after switching to martin medium phosphorus strings was perfect. If you don't buy this now on sale you will regret it for years to come. I bought this on sale as a "cheap" guitar to take with me(I work 275-300 days a year out of town, living in hotels) and I like this guitar as much, if not better than my current guitar that cost twice as much. Now musiciansfriend has stiffed me into buying a cheaper rogue that hopefully I won't fall in love with as much as this guitar to take with me on the road.Bobby

I researched, read, reviewed and researched some more… and it always came back to the Washburn. I then turned to my guitar friends and guitar instructors I knew… again, Washburn. So I bought this one in the natural finish, with the anticipation of learning the guitar. My girlfriend text her dad to ask him what kind of guitar he had. She got the reply, "It's a Washburn." Which is now an ongoing joke. Musician's Friend shipped it right over and in a few days I opened up my brand new, shiny Washburn. I slapped a tuner on in and tuned it up, where it has stayed. My guitar came strung with "D'Addario 80/20 Bronze" strings and a soft case. I added the Washburn hard case, which I love. I can't believe my progress and how I don't want to put this guitar down. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this value brand guitar. The action was actually low and playable after tuning it out of the box. I was wanting to try my hand at a 12 string and found some used ones for more money that were basically unplayable. Then I found this new Oscar Schmidt on e-bay, and figured for the money, it's better than paying double for an unplayable wooden box. I will detension the strings for when I store it so it doesn't bow the sound board.willi-tiso

I use this product at small venue gigs and playing 3 Masses each week. There are too many great things to mention here, BUT, I will try. Washburn makes a great satin finish on the neck of their guitars. This is great on hot and sweaty days. This guitar boasts a satin finish on the whole guitar which allows your right hand to stay less slippery as well. The pickup on the inside of the sound hole is just the best. This picks the sound up from the inside of the guitar instead of the usual bridge style pickup that picks up the string vibrations. Much warmer sound. Solid Sitka Spruce top and solid mahogany back are a perfect compliment to each other. It sounded great out of the box, but sounds richer every time i play it. Put some good playing hours on this baby and it will sing for you. There is cathedral bracing inside the guitar that allows sound to flow and swirl around in there and is unobstructed by sharp edges on normal bracing. Lets not forget that this is part of the comfort series and has a smooth edge where your arm hangs over to pluck the strings. This is helpful more than you think it would be.Must be played to appreciate. Moreover, this guitar is a pleasure to play. I loved my other Washburn gig rat that i have played for years and still pick it up a couple of times a week out of guilt (it knows I love my to guitar better). Am strictly a fingerstyle player so can't really speak to the pros and cons of this guitar for flat picking. It has a really nice clear tone and sustain, I use it primarily for playing stuff in open G and DADGAD tunings. It has a 1 3/4 nut which is good for fingerstyle and a relatively thick neck which I also like. Of course, depending on the player, both of these things might not be to your liking. But overall, a very nice guitar at a very attractive price point. Oh, and the electronics are excellent.Greg

In reality it sounds great, nearly like a Martin D18, as it should since spec wise it is nearly the same. It's light, it's playable all the way up the neck. It is mostly beautiful. Yet I returned it. Why? There was a noticeable bow in the body behind the bridge more than likely caused by the use of a very thin top, forward bracing, and manufacturing techniques. This with the very thin bridge material means as the body continues to change, as all solid word acoustics do, the guitar would either need a major repair in say a year or be firewood. And since there isn't enough bridge material to constitute a repair firewood would be the likely choice. In addition there were finish issues that I was willing to overlook for the price.RICHARD

Ive been waiting for a RMA after receiving 2 emails with promises from ProAudioStar. They didnt want to partially refund me for the cost to repair the damage so I can keep the guitar. I'm still breaking this one in, but for the price it's a very good guitar. Out of the box, the action was a little high for my tastes, but as I said, I'm still breaking it in. Since I still haven't broken it in yet, I'm leaving the truss rod Allen key alone… for now. A minor fix to be sure. My other acoustic is a 1958 Martin D-18 and this guitar compares quite favorably to it. It has a great resonance right out of the box, and, for $800 and change, it's simply a great guitar. It's physically beautiful, and although I haven't had it long enough to make a definitive call, I do love the comfort feature on it. For the money, what's not to like? xxxooo dcDr. Clay (docclay)

This guitar sounds great but the string height off the fretboard is too high. Turning the truss rod does not lower it enough. There is not enough meat on the bridge saddle to sand it down. May have already been sanded. Could be the neck was not set correctly. I wanted to return this guitar, but I've had it too long. Got busy and didn't realize I was past the time limit to return. This is a beautiful guitar, fit, finish, tone, playability are all excellent. Bang for the buck is huge, I tried the big name lower priced models that were still more expensive than this and the Washburn is much better. Washburn EA 12B is a very high quality electric-acoustic, especially for guitarists who are just starting out, or on a tight budget. The build quality, and fit-and-finish, can't be beat for the price. For musician's who prefer high name-recognition products, this might not be the choice. On the other hand, as a live performance tool, this guitar has an impressive look, and a great sound. Overall, the EA 12B has a very nice combination of mid-range, and good alto voicing, something you would expect in a mini-jumbo. The bass frequencies are there, too. The Barcus-Berry under-saddle pickup is versatile. A few adjustments of hi-lo frequencies, and volume allow reliable response and good tone. Preventing unwanted feedback wasn't a problem with the settings dialed in correctly. This guitar would probably give a nice acoustic sound with just about any amp. Most modern-style guitarists (classic rock) would prefer an instrument with easier action. I had to adjust the bridge saddle, by gauging the fret distance, and lowering it slightly. With a good set of strings, the guitar didn't buzz or have flat/sharp inconsistencies across or along the fretboard. I tried it, and the result was a pretty cool Johnny Cash type sound. The EA 12B is a nice instrument, and a good value.Segovia Junior

Bought this for my sons birthday who started playing about 6 months ago and is progressivly getting better. Received the guitar on time. It was packaged well. Opened it up and loved the look immediately. The pictures online really dont do it justice. Played on a washburn years ago and always liked the body. 199.99 for a 12 string? Great price for this 12 string. I've been playing 12 strings for years. Have had Ovation, Guild, Takamine, Martin. Currently own a Takamine & Martin 12 strings. The reason why I bought this was for a 12 string to travel and take anywhere for practice. Satisfied with sound and action for this price. And definitely recommend for first 12 string and for travel. Only have one issue, 13th fret on high e string does not ring out for some reason.JAF

Sound: Very good sound and resonance for the price. I wanted to test out a 12 string without committing to an expensive price and was pleasantly shocked by how full the sound is on this model. If you're handy, a fresh bone saddle and nut complete this. I expected a lot less from the tuners, these are actually quite nice. The finish is very light on the guitar and it's another reason to keep it humidified. Twelve strings is a lot of pressure on the instrument so humidification is an important part of the upkeep. With that in mind, I also used a lighter set of strings but that's a personal choice as well. Features: At this price, I'm happy with all the materials. I don't know how they can offer a guitar of this quality at this price. Ease of Use: A basic setup I completed in 15 minutes had it ready to play. Quality: A year later and it's shown no issues. Keep it humidified, oil the fretboard at every string change and it's golden. Value: It's a steal. Manufacturer Support: I had no issues with the product and no reason to contact them. They offer free online courses with purchase that are beginners courses but if you're buying a budget guitar you may benefit from the courses. The Wow Factor: I always wanted to try out a 12 string but one thing I got out of this is that it's a great way to build up finger strength. Overall: You get what you pay for. The saddle and nut are cheap but adequate. I swapped out the saddle and nut myself for a decent bone replacement after a few months for only a few bucks. For most people buying at this price, having this done by someone will cost a fair chunk of the initial price paid for the guitar but let me stress that the saddle and nut are usable. I'm just fussy on that subject. The tuners aren't the greatest but hold tune well. The strings shipped were surprisingly good, I kept them on until I replaced the nut. There's a very light finish on the guitar and neck. I happen to like it that way. The mahogany body is pretty and the sound is surprisingly rich. I've had it about a year and the only caveat is one I'd tell anyone with an acoustic, keep it humidified. Kyser and others sell a simple cover for the soundhole with a sponge that works great with distilled water. For beginners, Luna offers free online courses.Kevin

The guitar had a small hole in the body where the wood meets together on the side. The neck was pulling away from the body, and it already had signs of cracking. There was some kind of markings on the back-maybe paint? that wouldn't come off. I now have to return it and ship it back- not sure if I'll get this again, as I'm worried I'll get a similar product. The guitar sounds great, better than I expected for this price range. Just wish I had picked it up from a store where you can inspect it first.Rex
