Sound: This guitar I by far the smoothest I have ever played. The tone is great and playing leads on it is like no other. Features: Everything about this guitar is perfect from the type of wood to the electonics. Ease of Use: This is an easy guitar to play if you have experience. Beginners will have to get used to it. The jumbo frets is where people will get messed up because of the spacing of the strings. Quality: This guitar will last a lifetime. Value: It is a very good price Manufacturer Support: I did not have to use any of the manufacturing numbers or talk to anyone this guitar was perfect right out of the box. Overall: My wife and children decided that I needed a new guitar so they got me this one in the purple finish. Unbeknownst to my wife, I have wanted this guitar for over twenty years, ever since I was a snot nosed punk of a metalhead. The last several years I have developed nerve damage that has made it harder for me to play because it has effected my hands. The thin U neck on this guitar makes it so I can play very easily for long periods so that is a plus. The pickups in this sound amazing. I've owned guitars with pretty much every type of pickup available, and I've never been a huge fan of active pickups, but the EMG bonebreakers have made a believer out of me. Out of the box this was set up very well, I might make some tweaks to it when I have more time, but for now it plays great. The floyd stays in tune no matter how much I divebomb, and I've been abusing it pretty hardcore the last day or so since getting it. The finish is a darker purple than what shows up in pictures. Think late 60's/early 70's plum crazy purple but with big shiny bass boat style glitter flakes in it. The case it comes with is a very nice ESP hard case. Clean the guitar sounds great, but dirty is where it seems to like to live. Great guitar for metal and MAYBE some cleaner bluesy stuff. Overall it's an awesome instrument that I for one am very happy to own.

This is probably one of the only Iceman/similar models that I've seen Ibanez have an actual stock of for left-handed guitarists. I've scoured the internet for years, no luck usually. Then I found this beauty. From the second I got it out of the box, it became my new favorite, go-to first guitar. What I absolutely love most is the neck. It's a thinner C-shape, very smooth, makes for very easy leads across every inch of the fretboard. Plug it into a Marshall, play the solo to "Strutter" or "Love Gun," and you will hear that glorious 70s rock tone that Kiss is known for. Or drop the tuning down and use it as a workhorse metal guitar like I am doing right: it does the job just as well as the more expensive ESPs I own with active pickups! Only real gripe is it's NEVER sold with a case! Trust me, I've looked! The Iceman's shape has the same problem as the Flying V or BC Rich Warlock: it looks cool, but cases for it that are not custom made or made by Ibanez tend to be harder to find because of its scale and oddball dimensions. The standard Iceman case (IC200, I think is its name) WILL fit it, fortunately! The draw back is that will set you back about another $200, unless you can find one used. So if you ever expect to have this guitar leave your house, expect to drop 1200-1300 altogether to get the guitar AND the case. That being said, I still recommend it to lefty guitarists that are trying to upgrade to pro-level gear, as it is still a great value. The tonal versatility this guitar (from its Duncan '59 and Custom 5 pickups) has very easily rivals (or even outperforms, depending on who you ask!) those of the newly launched left handed Explorer from Gibson, and out of the gate will still costs you HUNDREDS less even after taxes, shipping, AND the case are worked in. So if you want glorious tone, sexy looks, and one of the most iconic shapes in guitar history as a lefty, you cannot go wrong with the PS120L. Hop to and get one!!!Dan K. from Headvent
I was in two minds whether to buy this after seeing some lacklustre reviews and having owned a korean iceman before that was truly, truly horrible, however it holds it's place in history as really being the first japanese guitar that was not a copy and was improved hardware wise by Paul Stanley. However I am pleased to say this is actually very nice. The neck is very comfortable and very fast, the fretting is excellent and was set to spec and played well out of the box, the nut was cut to spec and fine, though for this price I would have expected a bone nut. Pots are cheap and again for this price should have been quality ones, also it would have been nice to have a gibraltar bridge like the original (though this does not affect the playing). the binding looks great and the guitar is well balanced. Yes it is made in China but the Seymour Duncans sound fantastic and the guitar has a clarity that is extremely impressive. Really enjoy playing this guitar, all I would advise is after reading some reviews it is probably best to physically try one in the shop to be sure. Lovely guitaraichan

This guitar is an absolute monster. the amount of features on this guitar make for the best studio 7 string i could ask for. sadly though, it just made me realize 7 string isn't for me. i hope to own the 6 string version in the future. the guitar is in excellent condition and only has some marks on the pickguard. the rest of the guitar just has light wear. the frets are in fantastic condition. the case included is a molded esp case made for an esp m7. i will include the evertune key in the case. the dots on the 12th fret are just stickers. i can remove them if you'd like.

This guitar is excellent. Action is fantastic, neck is super smooth. Bridge pickup is nice and hot, but not quite enough for good metal tones. Bridge pickup is very warm. Huge variety of tones you can get with this guitar with the 5 way selector. Note there is significant volume drop with the split coil options. Finish is beautiful, very sparkly. I paired it with a white seatbelt strap and the guitar looks absolutely gorgeous. Only two complaints. number one is that with use of the vibrato arm (which is fantastic by the way, very smooth tremolo system), the guitar does not stay in tune well. Number two is that access to the upper frets is limited by the cutout design. Overall, unless you're into primarily metal, I'd highly recommend this guitar.Tyson

This guitar plays like a dream. The Charcoal Sparkle finish is phenomenal. It's comfortable, the roasted neck and ebony fretboard make for a smooth and fast feel. And the tones! These humbuckers have more bite and upper mid snarl than most. They're the best humbuckers with fuzz that I have used. They rock into a JTM45, AC, or tweed-voices amp. I am both surprised and please with this guitar I purchased this guitar at GC Nashville after returning a Gibson Les Paul Classic that I bought online. (lesson learned, don't buy from GC online.) The staff there were great and had no issues with me returning a $2200 guitar that I bought online. Even more supportive in helping me pick out a much less expensive guitar. Great people. This Epiphone is awesome. The fit and finish are great. The action is low and no buzz. The tone is great and It is lighter and easier to handle than the Gibson . The best part is it cost a third of the one I returned. I really wanted a Gibson but I am so glad I picked up this Epiphone. A word of caution. I looked at and played several guitars at GC before choosing this one. I even played a couple of other Epiphone Les Paul Customs. No two were the same. One had razors for frets, one had an action you could drive a truck under and this one was just right. Go in an play them before buying.Mike
This is my second 6 string electric, and I couldn't be HAPPIER with it! My first guitar is an entry level Epiphone SG Special that was a couple hundred bucks back in the day. It got the job done…good frets, good tune, good everything. I recently decided to step it up and get a "mid-range" guitar but still not break the bank with an Epiphone. And I'm not calling Epiphone cheap…they are just more in my price range when compared to Gibsons. Stepping it up is the right description for this guitar!! It is AMAZING! The feel, the tone, the look! It sounds great and feels good in the hands too. I especially love the Silverburst color!! The main reason I wanted this specific guitar. It's Adam Jones from TooL color scheme finish but on an epiphone! They are coming out with his own model of epiphone, but I'm impatient lol. Looks are important to picking out a guitar as much as sound! The inlays on the fretboard look beautiful. The pick guard and finish are beautiful, the trim/binding around the guitar… this guitar has reignited my passion for playing! As of this writing, I have no complaints! Excellent guitar!Matt
I purchased this guitar because a Les Paul was missing from my gear arsenal and I didn't want to drop three grand on a Gibson. I played a wall model at a local GC store and decided to buy, but requested a factory new model sent to me, because the wall model I played had some nicks in the fretboard, a sketchy 3 way switch and had worn strings and the intonation was way off above the 14th fret. I paid for next day air shipping to expedite the process because I tend to want the things I pay for fairly quickly. The shipping tag originated from the same city I live in, meaning they had a factory new either in the warehouse or at the neighboring store about 20 miles away. So I essentially paid 42$ for expedited shipping and could had likely gotten it same day if I asked the right questions I suppose. Shame on me. The next business day my guitar is delivered to my residence, I open it and immediately inspected it for possible shipping damage or factory flaws. It arrives with a broken 3 way switch, all strings tuned nearly 2 steps flat and also needed to make a truss rod adjustment to straighten the neck. Completely unacceptable that these issues left both the factory and GC's "quality control" in the condition it did. Luckily I work at a local small box music store and worked with our own luthier after hours to set it up and correct the problems. All that said, this guitar is absolutely fantastic. It plays and sounds very good and even though the stock pickups aren't top tier, they are excellent performers at a very reasonable price point. Monster value in this guitar. If you can acquire one some where other than Guitar Center, do it. If you do purchase from guitar center, make absolutely certain to have it looked at by a professional before accepting it. 5 stars for the guitar and it's value. 1 star for guitar centers lack of QC shipping items.Dan

I had played one of these in a store and liked the feel. After having one for a few weeks, I like it even more. I'm slightly taller than the average guy. Hence my fingers are a bit longer than the average guy. Maybe it is just because the neck seems to get thinner as you get up to the higher notes, but it seems like the neck is a little wider than the rest of my guitars up around the 15th to 24th frets. ("rest of my guitars" include Les Paul, Strat, Ibanez RG550, EVH Wolfgang, and others for reference). Aside from how great the paint job LOOKS, it does not have a gloss coat on it. This is a good thing since the paint job extends up the back of the neck allowing your hand to slide quite freely on the back of the neck. The bridge humbucker is fantastic. It screams the notes clearly with ZERO noise or hum when not playing. I'm not that impressed with the neck humbucker, but that's comparing it to the neck hum on my Les Paul, Carvin, and PRS Custom. AND, for about 90% of the 80s hair band songs you are never using that pickup anyway. The Floyd Rose is great! I got tired of waiting for it to need minor tuning adjustments naturally, so I'm to the point of TRYING to make it go out of tune even slightly and it STILL stays locked in tune. Overall, this guitar is now my GO TO for anything 80s (the biggest chunk of my playing preference).Steve
Having tried playing MANY of these in my hands, it seems that the quality control out of the Jackson Indonesia factory is hit-or-miss. If you get a good unit without problems, it is a great guitar with a great sound for a great price! And the looks are so nice as well. The neck thru body construction is so smooth and sweet. However, you might get a dud that sounds horrible. Or it might have severe defects in the neck or locking nut. In my experience, about 50% are of poor quality.
I was keen to find a 6 string that had a fixed bridge that I could use for covers and so I can retune to alternate tunings easily without having to get the screwdrivers and spending a lot of time retuning like a Locking Tremolo guitar. Thankfully the guitar already had Seymour Duncan pick ups in which are essential to having a aggressive tone but as well allow good expression so this meant it would be a case of getting the guitar out the box and playing rather than buying separate pick ups having to fit them in and so on. As I wanted a guitar that wasn't black or brightly colored the desert sand finish on the guitar really stood out and attracted me. Most of the SLP2's have a great selection of finish's. As for the neck and wood finish it is very smoothly and allows you to get quick access from from end of the neck to the other. Behind each the tuners on the headstock, there is this interesting circular turning device to help lock in the strings. This may help keep it in tune more but I also just attribute it staying in tune due to the general quality of the guitar. I bend the strings a lot for my lead playing and I play very aggressively with thick picks and rhythmically so once I put some heavier strings on (my preference) and configured the bridge saddles with a very small L shaped Allen/hex key the guitar stayed in tune.Tom H.

So first of the fit and finish of this guitar is great and the matching guitar case just adds to how awsome this guitar is. The feel and playability is amazing as well and this guitar is light not near as heavy as I thought it would be. The sound is amazing as well the JH custom EMG pickups make this guitar just rock! I would recommend this guitar to anyone that wants to play rock of metal. There is nothing I do not like about this guitar and being a fan of Metallica and James Hetfield this is a home run in my book!
Looks incredible and sounds heavy. Comfortable to play standing up or sitting down. Good, balanced weight too so it hangs/rests nicely when playing. Feels nice to play, neck isn't too chunky and the action is decent, although some may prefer it to be lower past the 12th fret. I'd recommend wearing a sweatband (like Hetfield) as the top edge of the body can catch your lower arm when playing. Comes with a big, sturdy, lockable, hard case too.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
I'll tell you about why I both love this guitar and why I decided to buy from Sweetwater.First, I always played acoustic blues, but I love metal and Metallica. Hetfield rocks, and everything about this guitar's specs are fantastic. The pickups, the construction, the fittings, the finish and the balance are great. There seem to be some hollowed out parts of the body that add a bit of resonance, and frankly I was shocked by how light this weights compared to a Les Paul style I own.Transitioning to metal rhythm, whether it is all mental or has something to actually do with the guitar itself, things just started playing better immediately. I think it's because this is meant to shred, whereas the Les Paul style isn't bad, just different. Way better sound too.Now why Sweetwater? I come from a musical family, and you always try your guitars before you buy, so Internet ordering was a first for me. I did plenty of research on what I wanted to buy, as well as checking around to different vendors. Let's be honest, everyone checks Amazon. However, for guitars it seems like there are all sorts of Amazon sellers who are ripping customers off. You see generic product photos, and you have no idea what you're going to get. People who bought this guitar had reported scratches, open box versions sold as NIB.=Enter Sweetwater – you know you're getting an inspected guitar if you're putting down a decent amount of coin. I was able to see the exact photos of the guitar I was buying. It was great to know exactly what I was buying.Heavily recommend: if you know what strings you use, pay to have them install those strings and adjust the neck to the action you prefer. It was incredibly helpful.

Player's perspective if you're looking for a guitar good enough for eddie van halen that can do pretty much everything except empty your bank account, the wolfgang special is the way to go. the sound is thick and heavy but retains a crisp definition that can be heard even with gobs of distortion. the neck is super fast and comfortable everywhere, bends are easy and lightning fast runs are effortless. the upper register on this guitar is really something special. all the way up to the 22nd fret, full step bends and heavy vibratos are not only easy but still have the same dynamic responsiveness as the rest of the neck, making for a true singer of a guitar. the body is extremely comfortable sitting or standing, and the light weight will allow for hours of practicing and performing.

Overall: The fit and finish on this Mexican-made guitar is terrible! The cheaper Indonesian-made version I have is much much better. Fender should be ashamed of themselves for turning out product like this. The frets are not finished on either edge. They'll cut you if you're not careful. The binding on the lower bout is much wider than on the upper bout. The toggle switch is noisy, doesn't engage well, and is cheap feeling. The intonation setup on arrival was not only severely off on the lower strings, but required moving to the alternate saddle screw location on the Floyd bridge. I have other Mexican-made instruments as well. They are all substandard, but this one is the worst. Cannot recommend any Mexican-made Fender instruments.
This is one of the better guitars I've played in my life. Right out of the box it was intonated perfectly but needed to be tuned. If you haven't used a D-Tuna before (like me), I highly recommend looking up a video on how to properly tune it. Having owned floating floyd rose bridge guitars before, I expected tuning to be a hassle. But to my surprise, it tuned just like a regular guitar and I barely had to use the fine tuning pegs. My only problem that I've adjusted to my comfort would be the tension on the bridge was a bit too much for me, removing the cover on the back and taking out one of the springs fixed this problem for me. But everything else is perfect, you're getting the sound of a Les Paul in a strat style body. It's hard to not want to play this guitar. The neck is the smoothest I've ever played, it's finely sanded down and just feels like butter. The gloss black body is also stunning to look at, but keep a cloth around because it's a finger print magnet. If you're a fan of EVH or looking for a good hybrid between Fender and Gibson, this is the guitar for you.Glenn
Fantastic and great looking guitar but the lack of "strat contours" on the Specials has me returning it and getting EVH Standards. I knew they laced the contours when I purchased but I really wanted to love this guitar. Love the feel of the neck and the sound of the pickups. Recessed Floyd in the arched top is too clunky sounding landing back on the top. Pickup selector is noisy, not the electronic sound but the actual clicking sound when going into the middle position. Those two things could just be my guitar and might have a remedy. Ultimately returning because, the non contour (non-strat) shape of the Special is uncomfortable at my chest and forearm when sitting. Just my preference, a lot of guitars lack the contours. Bought two Standards (Bomber Black and Transparent Amber) and love every thing about them.Patrick

I was look for an offset guitar to add to my guitar collection. I was looking at a Squier Jazzmaster (perhaps a classicvibe) but I decided to grab this instead. Reason being I prefer a hardtail bridge for better tuning stability since I probably wasn't going to use the tremolo system. Plus I really wanted to try out what an Australian supplier can bring to the "affordable" table (vs Harley Bentons, Firefly, Squiers, Yamaha, ibanez, etc) I'm really glad did. This plays really well and certainly punches above it's weight. Also price!! ************* I have been playing for roughly 25 years plus, own multiple guitars in my collection, teach music as my career (primary school setting), play in live bands so I hope to bring a more experienced player review to this guitar. I know it sounds cliche' but we certainly live in the golden age of guitars. In terms of "budget" guitars today they play remarkably well, much better when I started playing in the 90's. So if you're "experienced player" why did I buy this? Well I like to keep my eye out on beginner guitars to play on. To help advising parents to find good deals for my school students. Also my school music budget only stretches so far so I need instruments that play well but can keep up with 5-12 years that would absolute smash and play the frick-outta this thing. ************ Features****** If you like a nice medium to chunky neck , you're in luck. I think this sits in between a Les Paul and a Modern C style neck. The tune-o-matic bridge was intonated well out of the box however I did lower the action slightly for lower and gave a minor tweak on the trust rod. Does it play well straight out of the box for beginners? Sure but I'm a stickler for setting up my guitars. The tuners are sufficient providing you know how to "lock" off the tuning pegs efficiently, rather than simply than winding them around five times. Could you change for locking tuners? Yep ! But I'm finding them fine for what I'm using the guitar for. The nut is cut okay (I did use the old graphite pencil trick/nut lube to add some extra smoothness though) but you could change it for a 42mm bone/graphtech style nut if your looking to upgrade something – I would certainly start here if you're buying this for a mod project. Be prepared to really fight a glued in nut, – it took a bit of work. Pots and pickup switches feel strong and solid too. I modify lots of Partcasters so generally can feel how cheap they are. They seem quite solid and not the $2 dime pot often seen in budget guitars.**************** The nice surprises************ -The metallic/flake gloss – very classy and hard to see in the stock phots. But looks great in the flesh -The cream bounding around the guitar. This is unheard of for a guitar in the sub $300 Aud range -The p90 pickups – Wow certainly the star of the show, I was prepared to swap these out but they simply sing. I nice balance between a single and a humbucker.*********** Improvements************ The guitar certainly can a fret polish. I also rolled over the fret edges so it has a more played-in feel. But I'm not stressed about this since this is labour intensive and would add extra man hours (and cost to the guitar itself) – Would a beginner notice this – Not at all. No fret sprout and smooth edges As mentioned previously perhaps look at buying a graphtech style or bone nut. Or add graphite/nut lube.************ Sounds************* This guitar can cover Grunge (of course look of it certainly ticks the Dinosaur Jr box/Nirvana) Rock (Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters) Funk/Rock (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) and Blues/Fuzz (Jimi Hendrix, Gary Moore) Punk (Dead Kennedys, The Clash, NOFX, Bad Religion) and it can certainly can hang with my "Primo" Gretsch, Fender and Gibson., providing you slightly eq and sculpt your tone for the p90's. ******** Questions I had Prior To Purchasing************ Is this one of the best value guitar for beginner and even seasoned players? Hell yeah. Would I recommend this is my students? Absolutely How do they compare against big budget brands? Its the law of diminishing returns, you get what you pay for. But you get alot of guitar for the money. Would I recommend Artist Guitar's and can they go toe-to-toe with other Low Cost/High Value guitars like The Euro Big Boys like Thomman? Let's just say I've ordered 2 more Artist Guitars in the space of 1 week.************** Living in Australia it's nice that a national supplier can certainly provide people good beginner guitars without breaking the bank. I purchased this today and I must say, wow. Not only am I impressed with how good it sounds (clean or dirty) but the price point seems crazy! I had a Jazzmaster previously and honestly, despite it costing 1/10th the cost, I think I prefer the Grungemaster (let's just call it the GM) to the Jazzmaster. Right out of the box not only is it playable, but I didn't have to change the action, file down the frets etc. I would feel 100% confident pulling this out of the box and immediately go on stage after a quick tune. It's quality! FYI. I decided to see if I could get that classic "Nirvana"/Kurt guitar tone. Plugged up my DS1 straight to my VOX AC30 with a shade of reverb. First power cord.. spot on. If all Artist guitars are like the GM, I will be going back to buy some more guitars in the coming months. Also just want to acknowledge the great customer service too. Booked in to see the show room. Everyone greeted me with a smile and hello. The guy new his stuff. Told me what was coming up in the next few months, went through warranty, returns and shared a bit of info on the company. Purchase & Experince 10/10. Will recommend
The Grungemaster arrived packed so carefully that some more famous brands could do well to emulate. The finish looks flawless and the metallic sparkle in the white paint on the body looks very classy. A quick check over showed it needed a little adjustment to the string height to suit my preference, a small change to the neck relief, again to suit my preference and an adjustment to the intonation to ensure that it plays in tune everywhere on the neck. Once plugged in to my Deluxe Reverb the power of the P90s became very apparent. This is a very loud guitar. It has a nice balance between the pickups and a sweet tone without any spikiness on the bridge pickup and a nicely rounded but clear tone to the neck pickup. The fret ends are a little sharp but that doesn't detract from the playability. I will be rounding the fret ends as I have done with all my guitars . For the price this Grungemaster is a great instrument and clearly shows you don't have to pay a high price to get a really nice instrument any more.Neil

I have had this guitar for about a month now. From the first day, I have absolutely loved this guitar. The included Seymour Duncan pick ups sounds amazing and the push/pull function gives you a nice range of voices. Everything about the build of this guitar feels amazing. The neck and the frets are smooth and well cared for, the quality of the hardware is top shelf. If you want a Les Paul, just forget about Gibson. This is what you want, of course there are many versions of this guitar, Any one of the EC-1000's are great, but the finish on this one is pretty outstanding in person.Logan C
Amazing, right out of the box! Gorgeous maple top and headstock design along with the flag inlays and black/chrome hardware. But how it handles…wow! The 'U' shape neck is just like my '72 Strat so the LTD felt familiar right away. (The U neck is chunky and may not be right for everyone) It's really well balanced sitting down or standing with a strap. The action is spot on and access to the higher frets not a problem. The bridge is comfortable on the right hand. And the specific instrument that I ordered is HEAVY. It feels like I'm playing a full guitar, not just a slice of a guitar! And the sound… THE SOUND!! The EMG 81 is incredible! It's actually making me play more accurately and deliberately because it will not allow sloppy playing. Play sloppy on the 81 or 86(neck pickup) and there's NO hiding it. Took a little while to get used to the high output of the EMGs but well worth it. I could not be happier with this guitar and the price is incredible.
I got the natural black color. Its a really nice looking guitar. With a different name on the head stock it would cost thousands. Sounds great, you can play any type music on it. Overall: First the guitar is very nice for the price. The neck is fantastic feels unfinished (sealed) but is actually a satin sealer on neck and unsealed board, which should age nicely. The frets are finished nicely and it's just smooth to play. The size of the neck is somewhere between an Ibanez (wizard II & III) and a Fender Strat. I think it feels better than an LTD EC 1001, probably due to no paint and compound radius.The guitar is heavier than expected but still a light guitar, it's not a thin body as some strat style guitars are. The guard is simple black but fitted nicely. The pickups aren't bad at all, personally the single coils sound mid and bass heavy, while the humbucker is more mid to bright. All in all compared to a Fender, the guitar is darker sounding, it's not bad but something I noticed.The single coils are definitely weaker (quieter) than the humbucker and not as crisp as ones in a strat. The humbucker is hot but not extremely so, I actually like it better than the ones in a comparable strat (MIM or older AM special).There are flaws though or at least in mine. First minor sanding flaw with 17th marker, smeared on board some. There's a chip in the paint on the top side of the pocket, looks like a small line about a 1/4" long. I also have some feathered pieces on the guard, where it was cut from the sheet of plastic it was made from. These are all minor things and you really have to go over the guitar to notice. It is something I expect at this price on an import guitar, just small QC stuff.Now to the major problems. The action was way high at the bridge when I received it, just under a 1/2" from top of body to bottom of the tremelo. Looking to figure out how low I could go, I noticed the neck was sitting at an angle and there was a gap in the neck pock.I removed the neck to find a shim had been placed in it. Now if this guitar wasn't heel adjust I would have just sent it back and never known but since you have to remove the neck for adjustment, figured why not. After removing shim I was able to get the bridge down to 1/8" off the body, you'll never be able to fully deck it. I also had to adjust string tension at the head to keep the lockers from turning strings sharp, not a huge deal, that's what it's there for.The newer models also don't match the picture. there is no longer a bullet plug on the head stock (where rod usually is on a strat). There is also no longer a skunk stripe on the back of the neck either. I am assuming these are cost cutting measures.The QC is an issue on these guitars I imagine, that's the biggest flaw. They are on par with most any $500 guitar, except the neck. The neck is leaps and bounds above others in my opinion. I put the guitar on the same level as a MIM strat.In the end I think it's a keeper and a decent guitar. I'd just suggest really looking over it when buying and be ready to do a little work or pay a good tech to set it up, which is common in this price range. Don't let it having a shim scare you off, it's probably rare anyways. I figure it was done as a fast way to set it up with a low board action to give people the ability to have a push pull trem, I prefer dive only or just enough for flutter. Just remember at $500, they aren't spending hours to set up a guitar, they'd never get enough out the door. I listed manufacturer support at 2 1/2 stars as I haven't used it but even if they are great I shouldn't have to need them (if they did what they should in the first place) so half way seems fair.Waylon
I have been playing guitar for over 50 years and have enjoyed the work of Adrian Smith in Iron Maiden and especially the work he did on the Bruce Dickenson solo albums. I was in the market for a high quality bolt on guitar with a Floyd Rose and ebony fingerboard and this guitar comes with a DiMarzio Super Distortion pickup which I used to have on one of my old Jacksons, I feel this is an great high gain pickup. This guitar has an excellent build quality that you would expect from a USA made Jackson. The guitar has a nice feel but the tone is so satisfying especially for high gain solos, the notes seem to have a fuller sound compared to some of my other high end guitars (Ibanez J. Custom, ESP E-II and Kiesel JB24), it's a very satisfying guitar to play. Please note that there are two similar models here, evidently this is the new model and the only difference in the description is that this is the snow white model and it's a few hundred dollars more than the other Adrian Smith San Dimas USA model. I had bought the other model first because I couldn't see any difference in the description but when I got it I needed to adjust the truss rod and that's when I found out that in order to adjust the truss rod on the cheaper model you have to remove the neck, I mean seriously? After I called Guitar Center and their tech confirmed that information I called Guitar Center and they gladly processed the return and got me the proper model in couple days no problem. Just be sure that you are getting the model that is snow white and look closely at the picture to see it has the spoke wheel adjustment for the truss rod but yeah the Adrian Smith San Dimas USA Snow White guitar sounds awesome!Mark G
This guitar is a very good value for it's cost. I really like the neck, as it's finish is really good for a guitar in this price range. Frets are smooth and the ends were done nicely, no snags on the fingers. The Floyd Rose Special holds tune nicely. I made some minor adjustments in string action and trem height to get really low action. The pick ups sound great coming through my Marshall DSL 20 Head and Cab.I really like the Fender style headstock with the black hardware. Overall it's an amazing guitar for the price. I am a musician of 35+ years and have owned many, many guitars over the years. I purchased this for my 15 year old son as it was an upgrade from his first guitar, a Squire HSS Strat. He loves the instrument. There are reviews where there's mention of the 1st E coming off the fretboard during play, I or my Son have had no issues with this. Maybe it's a technique thing.. My first electric. Got it in a combo kit with amp and bag. Hook it into my computer now and rarely use the amp for anything. That being said, as many people have mentioned the bridge. If this isn't your first guitar, or you are looking for a second guitar – don't get this one. I learned about intonation and action and all that while having this guitar. You can only set the intonation on the outside E's and everything else is just what you get. My the height of my bridge for medium action on the low E is maybe a 1/16 from bottoming out, any lower it will buzz more. To get the same range of action on my high E my bridge is almost a 1/4" in the air. I do not know enough to get into shimming the neck to get it leveled out more, I just know enough to assume a 1/4" rise over 3" space probably isn't a good thing. However! I've learned plenty on it over these last 6 months. I bought this guitar because I did not want to invest a lot of money into it if I wasn't going to stick with it. I bought this in February of 22. The first 5 months I probably played on it maybe 50-60 hours. These last 4 months I've probably played on it 1-3 hours a day. I started using apps to learn and being able to plug it directly into my computer has been amazing. It's served it's purpose, I'm now getting to the level of playing where I'd like a better quality instrument and am looking in the $400-$500 range. For a first guitar, and you're not sure if you're going to stay with it, this was great for me and I will pass it on to someone else to get started with. Other than the bridge intonation and probably not flat fret board, I have had 0 mechanical issues with it.Jay
Been looking for a nice explorer for a while and once I saw this model some time ago, I fell in love with this amazing guitar. I was for a while very, very doubtful due to the complicated and demanding Floyd Rose bridge I never had before. A couple of good tutorials on the system were enough to take this fear away. After a thorough check, the guitar is a dream, works perfectly and love it so far. No scratches nor color changes on the mat neck and back, veneer looks pristine, and mechanics work just fine, lovely Gibson Pup sound with split coils and the fret-board looks great, 12th fret’s spaceship inlay aside which is also a very nice touch there. No challenges with neck profile, just a bit of a welcomed change to a thinner neck from my husky Les Paul ones I have. This is a really nice and balanced guitar! Ok, it's on the slightly heavier side but very manageable still. As mentioned earlier, It’s my first Floyd Rose guitar and surprisingly, I managed to adjust it to perfect balance and tuning on my first try in less than an hour with the help of some wood wedges to block back of the springs with, that I made during that estimated time, and of course a ton of online tutorials the weeks prior. Next step is changing to Paradigm Ernie Ball 11s half a step down and adjusting float again….but this will have to wait a bit and maybe a fourth spring will be in order, we will see. If doubting on Floyd Rose, trust me, I am really not a technical person but this was a piece of cake, once you understand the basics and foremost, make a nice wedge, rest is just a walk in the park. It also comes with a case which is always a plus for getting it home in the best possible condition though I would have preferred a hard case or actual guitar contour shaped foam on the included case, to make it extra safe. and not moving whist transporting For those Brendan small fans out there, it is even more of a desirable item. For those not following his work, still a really nice guitar and a steal for what you get. This guitar will make you happy no matter if you know artist or not Last but not least, there is a shop that actually checks guitars before shipping and that is Music Store….Big, big thanks for making sure I got the guitar I wanted and expected. I'm reviewing the gold top model. I own a lot of guitars but I didn't have a gold top Les Paul and always wanted one. This is an amazing guitar for the price! Fit and finish are perfect. It sounds and plays great. I love it. Note, always put a new set of strings on a guitar that comes with strings on it. It's a simple fix for a lot of problems you thought you had, but don't. Who knows how long they've been on or what brand they are. Now, the details. Frets were perfectly level, no sharp ends. Slight amount of oxidization. I polished the crowns and ends with Micro-Mesh pads. I used 6000>8000>12,000 grit pads. I wasn't taking metal off, just polishing them to a jewelery finish. Really makes bends and vibrato silky and smooth. I do that to all my guitars. I like the Indian laurel fingerboard. It's a good alternative to rosewood. I cleaned it with alcohol, then applied a very light amount of fingerboard oil/conditioner. Let it sit a few minutes then wiped it dry. It has a beautiful look and feel now. As for setup, the only thing that was set correctly was the intonation. So I lowered the bridge to the (low) action I like, and it was pretty clean, a little buzz on the upper frets. The neck was trussed completely flat, so I loosened the truss rod about 1/4 turn and that gave it the right amount of relief. No more buzz. Next, I filed the nut slots slightly wider and deeper. Action was too high off the nut. I use XL strings (9-42) and the slots were even too tight for them! That was the only real glaring problem on this guitar. Tight nut slots cause tuning issues and your average customer isn't going to have the tools or skills to fix that. I have a set of precision nut slotting files and feeler gauges to cut them to the proper depth. Man, that was the magic touch. The action is amazing now, all the way up the neck. No problems with tuning stability. And that's all I needed to do. It plays like a dream. I thought I would need to swap out the pickups but I like these. I'm old and play mostly classic rock, and these sound just right for the Les Pauls of that era. I get that sound that Gary Richrath (REO Speedwagon), early Joe Walsh, Duane Allman, Dicky Betts, Joe Perry, Page, Billy G, had in the late 60's – 70's. I ran it through a Goat distortion simulator and got Tom Scholtz Boston sound perfectly. It was actually better than another LP I have with DiMarzio super distortion pups. Easier to control the overdrive. All in all, Epiphone has really raised their bar. If you have typical electric guitar setup skills, you'll make this a sweet playing guitar. If you don't, it's worth it to find someone who does. Just a few minor adjustments and you'll have a fine axe to play.Rich

This is a fantastic 7 string for the price. First off, it looks more expensive than it is, and the satin finish is beautiful. More importantly though, it just feels right. The minute you pick it up and start chugging you feel at home. I was surprised how nice the pick ups are, too. This is without a doubt the best inexpensive 7 string. It costs a little more than a few of the others, but it is well worth it because the main reason for the price difference is the electronics are actually pretty good. It's perfect for what I got it for, unleashing low snarly growls great for any kind of heavy playing. I use a Line 6 Spider III and can get some surprisingly nice beefy tones out of this thing. Overall it looks and sounds like a more expensive guitar (sounds as good or better than my KH202) and feels great. Schecter makes some amazing guitars, including this one.JB

This is a fairly good guitar, and for the price it's definitely a great value. I can't find really anything wrong with the actual sound of the guitar. Sure the stock pickups are not the best in the world, but they are a good starting point, and with the right tweaking you can get some great sound from them. As far as build quality, the important things are taken care of. The fret ends an unnoticeable, and smooth across the entire neck. It did come set up from the factory with fairly low action, but in standard tuning and 1-step down it sounds great. It was well intonated and there is no fret buzz at all that I can tell. The tuners hold up well even after hours of playing, and unless I choose to change tunings there hasn't been any need to retune constantly like with some cheaper tuners on some lower end models. Really the only thing negative I would have to say so far is something that I feel is insignificant to warrant any removal of stars. I thoroughly examined every inch of the body for defects and there is only a small miniscule pinhole sized mark on the entire things, it literally looks like someone barely poked it with the tip of a pencil before it was painted, and you can only notice it holding the guitar completely sideways and look for it. The other thing that was off was that the tone switch was basically tightened backwards. The front position is the bridge and the back position is the neck. Fixing that would just be a matter of just untightening it and rotating it, but I have actually chose to just leave it be for the time being. The overall quality and has made those two things not matter in the slightest. I would definitely recommend this for a good budget friendly 7 string. It's really a good barebones guitar that focuses on the the value of components rather than just a flashy veneer that makes up the majority of the price. If you value playability and getting good bank for your buck, this is definitely the way to go.Charlie

Excelente guitar. I´m very dissapointed about the factory setup. For the price, I was expecting at least a playable factory setup. Instead it was with a really high strings action, pickups height totally out of pattern. And the finish wasn´t flawless. I has a little detail by the end of the scale. Besides that, Tumbstone Hard case is amazing! I was expecting more of the ESP inspections before it left the factory. By the way, the guitar was packed in the original box yet.Rodrigo
Overall: I was thinking about buying an ESP LTD for a while, and when I saw this guitar I was just blown away by how it looked, and the features it has. I'm happy to report that when it arrived at my home( which only took one day, thank you zZounds and fedex) I was even more blown away. The action is perfect out of the box, it's super lite, it plays faster than almost any guitar I've ever played, the Floyd Rose is top notch, and since I've stretched the strings and locked it, I hasn't gone out of tune once, and the sound is just mind blowing. I was a little nervous when I saw the body wood type was alder, being most of my guitars are mahogany, I thought the low end response would be affected. But I'm happy to tell everyone, it sounds like a beast. And of course the emg pickups are always incredible in my opinion. Plus it comes with the coolest case ever. It's got a tombstone motif on it. There's not enough good things I could say about this wonderful guitar. I was wailing sweep arpeggios all day on this bad boy, and every note was clear as a bell, no matter how fast I was playing. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone who's a metal aficionado. You won't be disappointed.Rob
At first glance, the art work is perfect! Thanks, Kirk! I was hesitant on the buy , due to being a 'LTD' ESP until I researched and read the great reviews (Thanks, axe slingers!). Don't let the 'LTD' fool you. This axe is rock solid. First thing I noticed when I picked this up is the great feel of the neck and the weight. If you love the feel of Strat-style bodies, you will love this. The neck is slim, smooth and fast; my first 24-fret axe and I love it! Not one flaw with these frets-no sharp edges (Dry weather can shrink the neck to where the frets may protrude enough to notice so be cautious and stay humid). I inspected the art work and craftsmanship, finding only 1 tiny flaw. At the end of the neck, by the 24th fret, half the neck width is shaved off about a 2 mm angle too much (click on the pic to see). This is fixable if you're good with tools…Second thing I couldn't wait to try is the Floyd Rose-my first one. It's sensitive compared to my SG's Bigsby so it doesn't take much to get a good effect which is good. The locking nut works superbly and the fine tuners are awesome, no problem with palm muting, as well! The tremelo arm can be left loose or tightened down, out of your way….The Sound—I can definitely tell the difference between the neck and bridge pups so I can't imagine having an 81 & a 60! These EMGs sound great having that neck, bridge and combined tone that you expect from humbuckers. Included is an extra tremelo spring and 3 allen wrenches….The Case—This is the first axe used to debut the Tombstone case! As you can see in the pic, it has a fur lining and a snug fit. The large compartment allows plenty of room for the wrenches, spring, picks, cord, etc. No flaws with the outside decor skin, latches, hinges or handle. It also comes with a key. Also, don't forget the Kirk Hammett pick tin set!…Rock on!

I'm personally not a huge fan of Any guitar with a Floyd Rose bridge.I play in C# / B and always struggled with the floyd rose holding up ….UNTIL NOW. THIS GUITAR PACKS EVERYTHING !! TONE, SUSTAINE , TREMELO, INCREDIBLE ACTION, AND MUCH MUCH MORE. THERE IS NO REASON TO STAY IN THE FENCE WITH THIS GUITAR. I don't tend to write many reviews…but couldnt pass this one up. I’ve seen this guitar in photos and ads for some time and didn’t pay much attention. Another LP copy with a players name on it. Big deal I thought. Then I saw one in person and was taken aback at how jaw dropping it was. I’ve got 3 eclipses with the expensive letters on the headstock, I’ve got one off custom shop guitars again with the same three expensive letters on the headstock, but this black and red guitar was seriously sexy . I immediately brokered a deal and took this thing home. In the six months I’ve owned it it’s been my go to. For the money you can’t beat it, it’s a bad a** guitar.Kev
I absolutely love this guitar! Everything about it from the EMG pick ups with the split coil on the neck,the glow in the dark side fret markers,and the feel of the neck and the ebony fretboard.And a real Floyd Rose,not some cheap bridge which you find on so many guitars.I got the white one,the red neck binding and red EMG's look really cool with it. And it was set up perfectly right out of the case.If your looking for an awesome metal or rock guitar,look no further, you won't be disappointed with Esp LTD-GH600.

This guitar is pretty good for the money. The only problem I'm seeing with mine is the tuners are not great. They do the job but I'm replacing mine with some Schiller locking tuners. Also I'm putting in some new pickups that I have, a JB and a 59. The stock pups don't sound all that bad though, just a bit to dark it seems. We will see how it turns out. Fun to play also, light weight and easy to hold. Give it a try, you might be surprised.Scott
Excellent guitar at any price point. Very playable neck . Nice hardware . I've read reviewers complaining about the tuners. The tuners are not the problem. The tuners do not keep your guitar in tune. Proper stringing and string stretching does , also humidity changes can affect tuning. The bridge is heavy duty compared to what you get on an Epiphone , even the expensive Epiphones. The pickups are really good , no need to upgrade unless you are looking for something specific. In most cases you can get a great tone by using pedals and preamp pedals. I use a preamp pedal into my effects loop . It gives a great base clean tones to put your pedals in front of. Mine came setup how I like it . I used a string gauge to check the measurements. It's exactly how I set my guitars up . All I had to do was stretch the strings and tune it . I still have the factory strings on it . Guitars today come with brand name strings on them for the most part and I'm not picky anyway , I usually use Ernie Ball Rock n Roll strings . I'm no Kiss fan , I bought it because I love the body style . It has no neck neck dive , I used it in band practice a few nights ago . I have a nice leather strap for it . It may dive if you use a cheap nylon strap though. The body and neck binding is a nice touch. The pickguard is a little cheap looking but who cares ? Great guitar , get you one !Jeffrey

This is my first Washburn, and this Michael Sweet Signature Parallax V is a complete Shredder. The neck feels great and the tone is right on. The Floyd rose design tremolo has great sustain and the Seymour Duncan blackouts do sound amazing, it keeps in tune. If you want a high quality signature V this is itMetaldave
