This beautiful s2 series prs vela semi-hollow is in their classic opaque black finish. the s2 series is the first level of all us built prs guitars, offering an affordable option for players wanting to get into the playability, build quality, and tone of a prs guitar without breaking the bank. the s2 vela semi-hollow is a vintage-inspired guitar with loads of personality and tonal textures. its offset body shape is at once elegant and edgy, and the addition of a semi-hollow body and f-hole gives the vela added attitude and resonance. its pickguard-loaded electronics feature a prs-designed ds-01 pickup in the bridge, providing a bright, chimey tone and the type-d singlecoil in the neck that gives the vela some noteworthy bite. the coil-tap on the tone control allows the bridge pickup to split to singlecoils, providing a balanced tone that will cut through the mix with style. anchoring this guitar is the prs plate-style bridge with two saddles that were designed to compensate for intonation. this bridge harkens back to paul's early designs and traditional bass plate-style bridges, but is top-loading for easy restringing. like the bridge found on paul's guitar and some private stock models, prs's plate-style bridge features brass saddles and an aluminum plate for maximum tonal sustain.

Overall: Like someone else said, right now, this is my favorite. I'm quick to pick it up and play without plugging it in. Plugged in it has an awesome tonal range. Using in my DAW with LogicPro it's really easy to get quiet, noiseless tones but still the crunch and sting when you want. The neck fits my hand perfectly. Overall, the quality is what you would expect. One issue to be aware of. Could be my clumsiness, but I've noticed that small chips have developed on the bottom edge where it rests in my guitar stand. Stand has rubber over the prongs but I still I wish the finish was heavier or maybe clear coated somehow over the antique finish. All i all I would buy it again.
Been playing for 20 years and I've had my fair share of instruments. This guitar is a cut above many in its price point. USA built, solid construction and rings like a bell. No it's not a core model that looks fancy but, you get all the goods of a PRS. Pickups in this are not really suited for metal out of the box but, you can go old school and boost it and get that saturated goodness. But if your thing is rock, hard rock, blues, country etc this guitar will be awesome in your arsenal. I was scared that the neck would be thin but when I opened the bag and grabbed the guitar, I was greeted with a full neck that fits like glove in my hand. Thin necks aren't my thing and never have been. However says you need a slim neck to play fast is wrong it only makes it a bit easier for some hand types. Bottom line, great guitar, great sound and amazing build quality. Grab one!Brian B
I had 10 guitars of varying build quality prior to buying this PRS. Everything from high end squires to Mexican Fenders and USA G&Ls. This guitar blew me away. The fit and finish are superb. Every tone is usable, it's resonant, it looks and plays like a dream. I ended up selling all but one G&L v12 and this Vela. Then I bought a few "key guitars" that I knew I'd like to have in the long run based on previously owned instruments. I snagged a Pro II Strat, a G&L ASAT, and a Relish that I got on sale here at Sweetwater. I now have only five guitars, but I am thrilled with them all. This swap was all due to playing a truly great guitar, this Vela, and remembering that quality matters. If you love a guitar you'll play it more and enjoy the experience in a slightly different way. The Vela is my number one. It's fantastic. Light, great sounds from each pickup, and neck is a joy to play. Love it, and now I love them all. Thanks for the help Jason Filloramo.

I have one but from a different retailer. MF did not carry this brand when I got mine. These are the real deal or real Gibson product line from the same folks in Kalamazoo who refused to relocate. The quality is fantastic. The tone is genuine. My 535 is my fave semi-hollow humbucker 23.75 inch scal guitar I have. You can tell these guitars are hand made. You're not getting a guitar assembled from the band saw body guy, or the neck blank guy, or from some fellow who just mans a saw / sander for their entier shift. Each guitar is luthier made. The older models even have an ebony pick guard. If thats an option then MF should get that instead of the plastic.David Seattle

I generally prefer the vintage instruments to reissues, but this guitar was very impressive. The set up was great, the sound was incredible, and the action was tremendous. I played it through a vintage Marshall Plexi, and a 1987X it sounded excellent through both for the Blues, Rock stuff. I also played it through a 1965 Twin Reverb for Jazz… WOW, I mean this is an excellent sounding guitar. The semi-hollow body delivers big, full, sound while remaining clean and warm. When playing some old Blues this git-fiddle sounds absolutely creamy and delicious through any old Marshall, or reissue I didn't use any effects because you really do not need to, this guitar has it all. The 335 also delivers incredily wonderful, warm tones for Jazzy material. This truly is a well rounded instrument that will be cherished for years to come.Vintagesound335.

This guitar played great right out the case. I can't find a dead spot on the neck. I'm very pleased with this guitar. The sound is excellent with or without an amp. This is my second D'Angelico guitar (first one was a Deluxe DC). I wasn't sure if the first one being a great guitar was a fluke, but, after this second one being a great guitar, I'm convinced that they are doing it right at D'Angelico.davmar13
I own an authentic D'Angelico (valued at 20k) and this guitar was obviously reverse-engineered from the original. It feels the same, with the perfect flat fingerboard and smooth frets. The guitars made today in Korea are top-shelf made. Another example is the Pat Metheny PM series also made in South-Korea (the good guys). Today guitars are made with computerized machinery, which is like having "expert luthiers" (guitar makers). Everything is precise and solid. The new D'Angelico resonates beautifully, when you play it you hear a sympathetic-overtone resonating, it's sustain is great. The quality of workmanship and parts is solid and high-quality, much better than say an Ibanez Artcore equivalent. It has a solid tailpiece, well made and strong, which adds to the tone of a guitar. The pickup is floating and attached to the neck which leaves the top of the guitar free of any buzzing from a drilled-in pickup. Just playing it acoustically is flawless. I love the guitar and it's a safe option to take on a gig. I'm glad I purchased it.overtime2001

Smooth as silk on the neck pickup. Warm, mellow sounds when you combine the two pickups and downright mean, gritty, growling on the bridge pickup. Fit and finish is near flawless and when you combine the cost with the quality of sound and the performance of the fret board you get an incredible value. I have owned a Washburn HB-35, an Aria TA-62 and an older Greco (Japan) semi-hollowbody and this Epiphone blows them away. Buy one and you will see what I mean.two_eagles_today5kxr
