Ukulele That Looks Like An Electric Guitar For Sale (2024 Update)

Overall, I would NOT buy this instrument again and wouldn't suggest it to people without warning them of my issues. If this ukulele broke, I'd replace it with a Kala. I wasn't very well pleased with this uke (or it's cheap gig bag) and will not be holding onto it for much longer. I bought this uke after previously owning a Beaver Creek (no-name Canadian brand) ukulele and then a Kala Mahogany KA-C ukulele. I had made the decision to sell my Kala and buy this Epiphone because I've been overwhelmingly pleased with my Thunderbird Pro IV bass and trusted the Epiphone brand (although I have been skeptical in my 7 years of being a musician). I must say that after owning the Epi uke for about 3 months now, I am looking to sell it in order to buy my Kala back. I had bought this ukulele because it had a built in pickup (which my Kala did not have) and it looked sweet! I was pleased with the aesthetics but the sound quality is just missing. I had heard this uke has two very different sounds when plugged into a system and when played acoustically. This is exactly true and I'll highlight it in the next section. Note: I replaced the strings on my epiphone ukulele instantly because I was told to do so. If you own this ukulele (or are going to), CHANGE THE STRINGS. Although I bash the ukulele a little bit in the next paragraph, you will hear a substancial difference in sound quality (for the better) if you change the strings.When played acoustically, this ukulele has a very flat sound. I say that especially because the ukulele itself is very flat. This affects the whole sound of the instrument and does not sound like a true ukulele much at all. However, that being said, this should be expected by anyone purchasing the ukulele because it clearly IS an acoustic/electric combo. Because of that, there needs to be sacrifice on both ends to meet in the middle.When playing through a system, this ukulele has an even worse sound. I have played it alongside another ukulele player who didn't have a pickup so we just mic'ed her ukulele. Hers, without being plugged right into the system, sounded much better and fuller than my epi did plugged in. I was almost embarrassed at how poorly my instrument sounded. I would honestly say I'm quite let down with this product. I do not feel like the value is there at all and as I said before, i'm currently in the process of selling it to afford a REAL ukulele.Bass Crazy

This is my 3rd uke. I actually went in to GC to get a different uke, but started messing around with one of these and fell in love. Yes, as others have said, it's not very loud. I mean, duh, look at the flat body. But the sound is just incredibly unique and appealing to my ear. It sounds almost like a clean 50s electric guitar, like something you'd hear in an Otis Redding song, and that's when it's unplugged. It's crazy, it really has an electric sound while unplugged. And plugged in it's a really fun play as well. I understand why some people would be disappointed if they are just looking for a ukulele that looks cool, because this does not sound like your typical uke. Also, I love the stock strings. They really add to that original sound and they are kinda thick so you can really strum away on this thing like a guitar. I wouldn't recommend it as someone's first ukulele, but definitely a second or third to provide a truly different and unique sound.PDX Me

I've been playing guitar off and on for most of my life (call it 45 years) returning with a new emphasis a few years ago, but I've only touched a ukelele a few times in my life. This little guy is fun! Excellent tone, well constructed, and the flame maple top is really pretty. Although it doesn't have a volume or tone control like a Les Paul guitar, it sounds fine coming through an amplifier. The included gig bag is a nice touch, and seems like a good one. The tuning is (of course) completely different than a guitar, but guitar knowledge carries over well to the uke. Picking it up with a chart of ukelele chords and tuning it with my electronic tuner, I was playing within a couple of minutes of opening the box. I've only had it a few weeks, but so far I love it. Epiphone really puts out instruments that are a good value, and this one is no exception. My wife was surprised at the excellent tone but I expect nothing less. Quality woods and construction get you that tone. If you're on the fence, get one and spend some quality time with it. You'll have fun, and isn't that what it's all about?CFLBob

This uke looks great. I love the natural-looking finish on the mahogany as it's hard for me to swallow the glossy look that is more common. It's a beautiful uke with very nice details from the saddle to he tuning pegs. The sound is something I still need to get to know, but it is a versatile sound that can range from warm to very bright sounding depending on how you play it. It is on the brighter side, though which is fine because sometimes I like to play in a more aggressive style that is more suited to bright sounding strings. I can't say much about the electric side of the uke. It seems okay, but I really need to play with my amp's EQ and try it out at a volume that isn't only just as loud as the acoustic uke itself. One small complaint I might have is that the low C string does buzz a tad. I had to exchange my first 20TM-CE because I couldn't stand the buzz (other people probably wouldn't even notice). This current one I have does still buzz a bit but I can easily ignore it. Overall, sounds great, really fun to play and I think it's a great value for its price range. I wish I had discovered this instrument sooner.Justin

The Cordoba 20TM-CE that I purchased is a pleasure to look at, play, its sound is clear and beautiful and she stays in tune. Tuners seem good so far. The sides of the neck are super smooth without a single sharp protruding fret and the action is comfortably low without any buzzing. Intonation is good as well. The finish is smooth and construction solid. Compared to other guitars and ukes that I own Im amazed at the overall quality. Not sure if I just got lucky and received a good one but based on my experience I highly recommend it!joeski724

I purchased this ukulele for my daughter and straight out the box, it is jaw dropping. Stunning and well made. The sound is surprisingly beautiful for its unique shape. I do recommend upgrading the gig bag it comes with.Peter

If you were planning to build ukuleles modeled after iconic guitars, you probably would not pick the Iceman… This is a whimsical instrument that just makes you smile & that is what happens every time I play it. Any rock guitarist looking to try out a uke should have one, unlikely you will find anything cooler than an Iceman… Whilst serious ukulele players should check it out, as you can never own enough instruments, & the smile factor is enormous. This ukulele is the only one like it. Definitely gets looks whenever I pull it out. People always ask what is that? It plays well especially when hooked up to an amp but sounds good acoustic as well. The BIGGEST drawback is it doesn't even come with a cheap gig bag and with the unique design doesn't fit into anything that I've found yet. I travel by car every week so I at least need something to keep from scratching it. Come on Ibanez how much more could it cost to include a cheap gig bag designed specifically for this ukulele? Huge drawback. I've been told by Guitar center that they can custom make one but it's too expensive. Other than that it's a great ukulele as long as you don't want to take it out of the house.Mark

This is my first ukulele, but I have played guitar for many years. I tried several models sitting in G.C.s acoustic guitar quiet room. I liked the tone of this uke, which sounded a little fuller than the other entry level ukuleles that I tried. The uke is just beautiful. They took care to match the myrtlewood for a very pleasing overall look. The tuners are also a little nicer than the other entry level ukuleles that I tried, and the instrument stays in tune. It is a lot of fun to play. I would recommend this instrument.Kathleen

This concert ukulele got my attention in the store right away with it's good looks, and kept my attention with it's wonderful sound! I tried every concert, but kept coming back to this one. It stays in tune, and it's just a dream to play. I have played keyboard for years, but this is my first ukulele, and I just love it! It is a very pretty instrument. I have only had experience with Tenor uses, and I find the shorter scale a little more challenging for the fat fingered. That said, it intonated properly, which is the Achilles heel of the less expensive instruments, and notorious for cheap Uses. The tone is not quite as florid as a Collings or a Martin, but it's a new instrument and I expect it to open up with use. My only issue is strap placement. I can't see inside well enough to know if it's safe to mount a strap button on the bottom. I know it's not standard, but that's a safety feature for my grandkids who just love to play the little baby guitar.Jagdaddy

I ordered a blemished version of this ukulele at first but it was super damaged, not "like new" as the description said, but it sounded great. So i returned it and bought a new one of the same model. The new one sounds much worse than the damaged one, the A string buzzes even when open and 5 or 6 of the frets on the g string buzz no matter how you play them. Hopefully after a setup it will sound good but it should at least be playable out of the box. Very annoying.Bailey B

This instrument looks and sounds beautiful especially when amplified. It is well made and easy to play. I highly recommend it for novice as well as intermediate and professional player alike. Looks great, but that is as far as that goes. It feels like plastic, very thick varnish that arrests the tone wood (aka. plywood). I have a couple of concerts ukuleles (one being a Mitchell) that has a better sound and costs WAY less. There is a buzzing sound while playing.Matthew

Although the Oscar Schmidt name no longer means old world European craftsmanship, this little ukulele is a very well-made, product of Indonesia. The all-mahogony construction provides a nice, rich tone. It plays well at all positions up and down the fretboard. Its ability to project is somewhat limited, however, the on-board electronics will allow you to play on stage with other amplified instruments. The provided strings should be changed and this does enhance the tonal quality of the instrument. When comparing sound quality you will find that the OU2E is a vast improvement over the cheap, lower-end junk that is so prolific. It isn't a vintage Martin and it doesn't sound like one. It is an excellent "next" ukulele for those who've decided to take the instrument one step closer to actually playing music. It isn't made of Koa wood, and it doesn't sound like it. It is a very nice ukulele that you will not be ashamed of in any setting. The geared tuners are a nice touch and they do stay in tune. It is quite plain in appearance. It is without binding, has dot fret markers, and the most minimal of soundhole adornments. The wood is quite pretty and the instrument will make you smile. The on-board electronics work very well and are a plus in this price range. If you're reading this, I know you're interested. I strongly recommend that you give this little gem a try. The Oscar Schmidt OU2E Soprano Ukulele with Active Pickup System is an excellent instrument. It has a solid feel to it, and a rich tonal quality. The pick up system works great. No feedback, and it delivers clear amplified sound. Initially, several tunings have to be made until the strings stretches fully. The price is very reasonable for its quality.Alan-_B9xT

I bought this about a week ago and I love it. I had a less expensive one and decided to upgrade to an electric. Great sound, both acoustically and electrified. I have 2 other acoustic/electric Ukes, a Fender T-Bucket ukulele and a Kala 8 string and a solid electric Risa. Aside from the Kala, which is a totally different sound altogether, this latest Fender is far superior, in my opinion, to the T-Bucket in sound and build quality, and the T-Bucket, although no longer in production, was £50 dearer when bought some 5 years ago. Lovely feel to the neck, making playing a pleasure. The only ukulele out of a number I’ve owned to persuade me to keep the high G string (all my other 3 ukuleles are strung with low G). Only downside is a lack of strap buttons but this can be easily rectified, when I pluck up the courage to drill the holes!!Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

I just got this uke in yesterday and I cannot stop playing it. I wasn't expecting it to come with a gig bag so that was a plus. I had to tune it (duh) when i got it and it has remained in perfect tuning since. I was slightly worried about how it would sound plugged up but it's honestly pretty gorgeous. The preamp could have been a little more elaborate, but I can't complain too much. Once I had added some mids to the mix it was sounding professional. The only flaw to this instrument, or my instrument, was the head stock. The tuners have glue imprinted everywhere. Kind of sloppy looking but the tuners work great. Lastly, the body of this uke is very stern and sexy looking. I could probably slam this thing against a wall and it not break. I am very impressed with this uke and would love for others to buy it.Donald1324567

After reading numerous blogs and reviews, I was unsure whether I should buy a Luna. It's hard to tell from words alone whether an instrument is well designed and constructed out of quality materials. I was thinking of a Kala or perhaps a Pono, but then I saw and heard the Luna as they're around the same price range for equivalent instruments. The Koa wood that was chosen projected the joy and definition of the songs without dominating. I chose this Luna because it has a sound that makes people happy and want to sing when I play. The "All Koa" body produces the authentic ukulele sound without being loud or obnoxious. The sound of this concert ukulele is mellow (no obnoxious brashness or egregious harmonics) and it's very similar to the sound of the Pono Acacia Tenor despite its smaller size. The inlaid abalone for the fret markers and sound hole ring catch the firelight, but they're not why I like this ukulele so much. When I'm playing, I'm hearing and feeling the music, not looking at the instrument. I've enjoyed playing acoustic style guitar finger picking style with chords for over a decade, currently on a high-end Seagull Artist folk style guitar. Learning to play this uke was super easy and it's far easier to bring on a campout.QuantumPerplexity

When I recently retired and dusted off my bucket list, I had to come to the realization that for many entries I would no longer be able to physically complete them, but you are never too old to learn how to play an instrument and on the upside we don't have to have the physique of a twenty something either. Learning to play the ukulele has been a dream of mine since I was a child. After extensive research of watching unboxing, playing, and expert recommendations on You Tube, I had narrowed my choices down to three ukuleles. When I searched "where to buy" on line for this uke, AMS was the store that came up first and with their no interest payment plan, no credit check, and price match policy, I was sold. None of the pictures online do this little uke any justice, beautiful warm Koa, stunning abalone inlay around the sound hole and 5 abalone inlaid waves in progressive stages depicting the influence of the moon. The action is nice and low which is a plus for arthritis sufferers like myself. I have not purchased an amp yet so I cannot speak to the sound using the onboard electronics, there are several Reviews on YouTube that do, but this little uke has a big voice even without them. Which I found surprising given that the body is only 2 1/2" deep, so if you are shaped like me, a Volkswagen with all my "junk in the trunk" in the front coupled with T-Rex arms, makes this is a comfortable instrument to learn. The gig bag is a pretty standard lightly padded gig bag, but on the plus side, the bag has a nice large zippered pocket on the front and the zipper on the bag itself unzips all the way around the bottom edge, so no fighting to take the uke in or out of the bag.Kaneki McNick

Bass guitar is my main instrument but want to try to learn the ukulele for fun. Not really knowing much about them I went did most of my research online. I decided to go with a tenor because although small, it's larger than the soprano and easier for me to handle, I wanted to try a few out and went to my local Guitar Center which is close to my home. Unfortunately they didn't have much of a selection on hand to try but I wanted to buy from here because I had a store credit that I wanted to use. I did try another straight acoustic model on hand just to get a feel for the size.So I did a little more looking on their website and found a few tenors in my price point. I chose the Ibanez because of the price, reputation and it also had a built in tuner and pre-amp ( I wanted an acoustic-electric) as well as the single cut away that I wanted. Not know much about ukuleles I found it to be built well for what it is. It sounds nice and I've already learned a few songs after a week of playing. There are many websites where simple tabs can be found. So bottom line if you're looking for a quality acoustic-electric ukulele that won't break the bank then I recommend the Ibanez UEWT5E.RON

I was looking for an instrument that was durable enough to withstand the temperature extremes of MN, and sound decent when plugged in, so laminated wood is a good thing. The electronics are easy to use, the built in tuner accurate, and it sounds good ! The specs don't mention it also has a adjustable truss rod in the neck. Solid build and good tone, cool looking reddish fingerboard wood- would have been an easy 5 stars if the fret ends had been better finished.TomsTunes

I usually love my Ibanez instruments, but this one disappointed… The tone is fine, the volume even enough when the uke's amped, the basic quality of materials good, the cut away awesome, and the feel comfortable. In fact, I generally liked this uke – at first. Then I went to put on low G strings cause I like high G on my soprano ukes and low G on my tenors. Unfortunately, the slots in the bridge and nut meant to accommodate the strings are fatter for the C and E, but narrower for the G and A – which means a husky low G string simply doesn't fit. Like, even kinda sorta. While I realize that high G tuning is more common, low G isn't unheard of – especially on a tenor where the lower tuning option makes the most sense given the tenor's lower sound range. So if you're looking for a tenor that enables low G tuning as well as high, this sadly isn't it.Ukulele Enthusiast

I never played the ukulele before I picked up this one. I purchased this after briefly playing with one because I liked the sound and I am sooooo glad that I did. Within an hour I was playing songs! I have no experience, but the sound was so great that it made it so enjoyable and encouraging to explore and create. If I tried to learn on a lesser instrument, I feel I would have been discouraged by the sound. This ukulele practically makes everything sound decent. Getting the electric version is a big advantage to the non, and I hope to use that feature a bunch. I have tried it hooked up and it sounds great! I would highly recommend this for any beginner and even advanced players. My ukulele teacher is very jealous that my ukulele has a pick up, and his does not 🙂Bellody

This is an excellent all solid wood ukulele. I was lucky to buy an open box and then get an additional 10% off The ukulele is beautiful. Inlaid Abalone is stunning. The mahogany and gloss finish are impeccable. Tuners are very nice as well. The ukulele has a subtle beauty to it. Any guitar players will understand the benefit of solid wood construction as well. My only con is that it connects at the 12th fret when I would prefer the 14th but I am not in the upper register often. All together it feels very light weight but extremely solid. The frets could be more polished but overall craftsmanship is amazing and the ukulele has great sustain. Plays best around the 14th fret for strumming. This Córdoba 35T is a great ukulele. Made with good materials and components. It plays higher than my Kamaka, which plays deeper. It's not a bad thing but the difference side by side is stark. This uke comes with a form fitting, amazing case! My only gripe is the finish on the headstock looks to be thicker than the finish on the body.Neil

This is my first ukulele and it is perfect! It looks so much better in person and it plays better than I imagined. The pickups also sound really clean when plugged into an amp (Roland micro cube) I definitely would recommend this ukulele for beginners and advanced players! I may just be picky or prefer a more natural finish but the gloss around the neck was just to off-putting for me to keep this piece for the price I paid. The top of the neck had an air bubble under the gloss above the neck fret marker. The outer corner of the neck was scratched and rough. The fret markers had a hazy-frothy glow about them I found unattractive. The frets looked scratched and gnarled or filed. This ukulele sounded fine.Destiny

i play several instruments and been in a band for 20 years. the uke looks like a neat instrument. i glad i boughti it for the price is a wonderful instrument. i cant wait to play song with it. it will take practice but ,,,,,,it is another stripe on my sleeve……..it has free lessons downloadable but my internet is slow. i did learn to play twinkle twinkle little star.. in about 10 minutes great instrument!!!!AA+++++johnnyt.715
