When I ordered this amp I expected to change out the tubes for JJs because if recommendations in the reviews I read. The stock tubes in this particular amp didn't produce any rattle and also provided plenty of clarity and bass. I don't sense the need to change out the tubes. This amp has more head room than my 1×10 2013 '65 Princeton Reverb Reissue Amp and I'll say its louder. The Vox Ac10c1 doesn't have a footswitch input installed onto it, if you want to switch from reverb to gain you will have to do it by hand as youre playing. The gain is rich, its a decent factory built in, the gain effect on my 4×10 2003 Fender Concert Reverb Amp doesnt sound nearly this good, if you buy the newer Marshall 20 watt tube amp or their MG solid state series amps their gain effects have a thinner, more static sounding than gritty sound to them. Vox amps have that more lush grit sound, akin to the sound we hear in the songs Ripcord and Vegetable by Radiohead (though Thom Yorke uses a turbo rat pedal) Haven't tried the Ac10c1 with a drummer, setting the Ac10c1 on an amp stand to project the speaker upward or placing this amp on a table should work just fine. The portability and light 27 pound weight are a huge plus if you decide on taking this amp anywhere. With this amp in one hand and a guitar stand and your guitar in a case in the other hand- you will be able to comfortably enter to set up and exit to load up in single trips. I originally expected to change the amp handle out for a leather handle but this vinyl handle is pretty thick. While playing through this amp, you can really feel and hear the nuances of its tube sensitivity while strumming and if you dig in with a pick, you can go from soft to really loud. The touch sensitive dynamics have been well calibrated in this amp. Again, the only downside is the lack of a footswitch input to switch between the amps good sounding gain and so so digital (not analog spring) reverb channel, no one seems to mention this. Everyone has their own effects pedals and loopers and what they already like to use so it almost balances out. I must say I actually like the sound of the gain on this amp. Again Im glad I didnt settle for a solid state Marshall in this price range, or the latest 20 watt tube Marshall which both felt and sounded lesser quality to me. I was looking for a good sounding portable amp. Glad I ordered a Vox Ac10c1
The Ac-10not only looks the business but it has since real depth and warmth to its tone. Clean – it’s bright and has the chime you’d expect. Turn up the gain and your tone breaks up but still retains clarity. Having the gain wide open and master volume down means you can still have the saturated crunch but not disturb others . Perfect for home use but would not be out of place in a small pub gig. Takes pedals will and with a multi-fix like a GT 100, if you disable the amp sim and use like a conventional pedal board, you don’t lose any quality of the AC10’s natural tone. A masterful amp and it even smells nice with those tubes cooking.Mark R.
Ive been playing 35 years and this is probably the best all around practice amp ive ever heard. Pros- looks great, sounds very good, cleans thump and chime, distortion can wail. Its loud for its size. Seems built well. Have had no bad issues. Cons- clean isnt near as loud as w the gain cranked up. No reverb. In short if this amp was 50-100W and had reverb and an external speaker jack id never play another amp. Good job VOX.jjsrvfan

I play punk-pop music and this thing is incredible. The sound it produces is amazing. The only flaws I have are the eqs don’t seem very responsive, but nothing that can’t be fixed with an additional eq pedal. The amp does run very hot, temperatures meastried at around 40 degree centigrade on the metal chassis. Build very good and I am In love with the Redbox emulation.

Ich betreibe den TM 20 dlx an einer halboffenen Box mit Emminence Cannabis Rex 10er und einem Joyo 10 Band EQ im FX-Weg, Höhen bei 8 und 16 kHz und Bässe bei 31 Hz zurück genommen, Mitten bei 500 Hz leicht geboostet ,er ist permanent an. Powersoak steht bei mir auf 5 W oder sogar 1 W zum üben daheim, zum Proben und für kleinere Gigs ohne Powersoak. Mit den Stock-Röhren 12AX7B China und Shuguang EL84 klang er in der Tat zischig und kratzig in jedem Kanal. Nimmt man die Höhen auf 9 Uhr und die Mitten auf halb 11 zurück, gehts für manche Musikstile und mit entsprechender Gitarre, mein Traumsound wars noch nicht. Ziemlich bald die Vorstufenröhren getauscht gegen JJ ECC81 Goldpin an V1 und JJ ECC83 Midgain Goldpin an V2. Jetzt ist der cleane Kanal rund, warm und trotzdem brilliant und bei 15 Uhr mit einer ganz leichten Anzerrung. Der Leadkanal auf 12 Uhr drückt und rockt, Bässe sind hier ab Werk etwas zurück genommen. Mit dem Halshumbucker entsteht so ein schön singender Soloton, mit dem Bridge-HB gehts etwas deftiger ab, sehr schön. Jetzt noch den Boost dazu und Good Old Eddie ließe grüßen, wenn ichs denn könnte, der Sound käme schon mal ganz gut hin. Vor dem EQ hängen noch Flanger und Delay im FX, funktioniert ohne Brummen oder Rauschen. Überhaupt ist der Amp recht leise, auch der optionale Fußschalter knackt oder poppt nicht. Hatte zuerst einen anderen als den originalen FS versucht, ging leider nicht, Polung oder Belegung war wohl anders. Fazit: Features super (Powersoak, Boostfunktion, Redbox). Sound für meinen Geschmack leicht verbesserungsbedürftig, dann aber sehr gut!

At $900, it's not cheap, but the amp has solid, crystal clear sound and the package is small and lightweight. I've used the effects and they're OK, but almost always just use reverb. The SFX feature where sound is shifted and piped out the side-firing speakers really fills the room. Plenty of volume and the two channels make this rig ideal for solo gigs in small venues.skybok5155

The laney cub 10 is not just a bigger cub 8, it is a totally different amplifier and comes from further along the evolutionary path of tube amp design. the cub 10 is a class a/b design and produces 10 watts rms of power from an output section loaded with a pair of 6v6gt's, driven from a pre amp loaded with 2 ecc83's. the pre amp compliment consists of a tone control, a volume control and a gain control, along with a set of hi and lo input jacks. the cub 10 houses a custom 10 inch speaker. the cub 10's class a/b output section gives this amp a nicely pronounced mid range which is where the natural frequencies of the guitar instrument sit. this means that the cub 10 has a very natural and responsive mid range when run clean. push the amp a little harder and things begin to get very zeppelin-esque think "heartbreaker". hit the strings harder and the amp breaks up ever so responsively, dial in more gain and the amp really starts to cook with vintage tone. the pair of 6v6gt's work hard to give plenty of low-end punch for a small tube amp, perfect for a bluesy solo.

As an owner of both the Fender Acoustic 200 and the TC Helicon Voicelive Play Acoustic, I can tell you that this unit sounds better, avoids the unnecessary clutter of using a traditional acoustic amp with a footpedal, and is everything you could ask for in terms of an acoustic singer-songwriter set up. On the vocal side: the harmonies are spot on, sound super authentic and non-robotic, and the reverb and effects are superb. On the guitar side: seriously enhances the sound of your acoustic instrument and the effects and reverb are top notch. Couldn't be more enthusiastic about this amp!! Buy it!!!Osage
I have a Fishman SA220, and a Bose L1, with subwoofer and Tonematch. I can tell you this amplifier is a lot of fun. I've never really fooled with loopers and harmonies. This makes it simple, even for an old man. This is on par with the other systems I have. Only it seems crisper to my ears. Plenty of power, great tone, and effects I'll actually use. Not sure about longevity yet, only time will tell. So far I love it.Mark
The weight of the Singer Pro is the main negative point, so much so, I've had to buy an additional lighter amplifier (a Roland Chorus AC40) for busking which was under half the Singer Pro price and about one third of the weight. The sound of this twin-speaker AC40 amp was at least as good as the Singer Pro. Sadly, the AC40 has been phased out. Singer Pro weight around 15Kg and AC40 5Kg. To be fair, the Singer Pro has a Loop function and a Harmony funtion (both of which I haven't used). Audio Output seems very similar volume. Interestingly the Chorus effect on the Roland AC40 feels more effective and its manual says the Chorus is fed to one speaker with the raw ouput diverted to the other speaker. The manual says this allows mixing of sound outside of the amplifier. I agree. BUT both Boss/Roland . amplifiers are truly excellent but the AC40 has become my favourite. One last thing; the Singer Pro comes with a plastic footswitch …not mentioned so I bought an additional one.

I got this as a Christmas gift. I never built an amp before but I do have good solder experience and general electrical knowledge. The amp worked perfectly on the first build. After following all the testing procedures I plugged in and it worked perfectly. I am extremely pleased with the sound quality. I have owned 2 other tube amps and neither sounded this good. It is surprising how low the noise is and how great it sounds. The other interesting thing is the pedals I have sound better in front of this amp versus any amp I have ever used them on. My tube screamer pedal sounds amazing in front of this amp. The gain is all there with less noise and better voicing. I have no idea why that is but I could not be happier.
I recently completed the British 18W head kit from Tube Depot, and can't say enough good things about it! From start to finish, the kit exceeded my expectations. Ordering, shipping, and customer service were top-notch. No issues with components. The instructions and documentation were amazing, worth their weight in gold. The end result was an amplifier that sounds incredible! I incorporated a few of the suggested options- PPIMV, Tremolo HI/LO sw., Tube/SS Rectifier sw., and choke. The sound is amazing, I'm finding it very difficult turning the amp off- once I start playing through the amp I don't want to stop. I would absolutely recommend Tube Depot for anyone interested in building a guitar amplifier. The clear, well-written instructions really made this an enjoyable project. Just to test it out I've used a power soak and the tone is exactly the same using the master volume. A couple of real nice features of the design are the negative feedback switch and the ability to switch between solid state and tube ratification (the tube sounds better to my ears).
