Such a great guitar to pick up and just start strumming on my lunch break, no plugging in, just pick up and play. Even when I do have time to plug in and play my other guitar, I still find myself reaching for the BT2. Not sure I can give any higher praise than that. Love it! It sounds great, stays in tune and looks fantastic. Whether playing at home, or traveling this is a great guitar to add to the collection. It is so comfortable and light, it sounds so nice you would hardly believe its' tiny size. Was eyeballing the GS Mini, but the smaller size of the BT2 was the deciding factor, I wanted something I could play comfortably while sitting at the desk in the office or on the couch. Everything about this guitar is perfect for me, it's easy on the wrists and the quality is top tier.

I've had the guitar for almost a month now & decided to do the review after I had it for a while. Quality control on this guitar was not very good. There was a chip by the 22nd fret near the upper horn that was overlooked because it has the final coating sprayed over it. There is also a scratch on the headstock at the G string tuner, it looks like someone overtightened the nut & scrated the headstock with a nut driver. Plus there is some black paint that ran into the binding on the top part of the headstock. Also there is a nick/scratch on the pickguard right below the neck pickup. The guitar plays well, and it looks good except for the imperfections I expalined earlier. I took pictures of what I complained in case someone at AMS would like to see them. I'm not sure of the return policy for guitars or if this could be returned for another guitar of the same kind I have. In the end the playability has met expectations but the quality control was far below expectations. Taylor is my dream acoustic guitar brand. And I always like the versatility and sound of a GS Mini in all versions: Mahogany, Spruce and also, Koa. Mine is Spruce 100% acoustic. It is worth to mention some details about how to extract the best sound of it: 1. The recommended string gauge is .13. Pay attention to all demos and YouTube video reviews. All of them use .13 string gauge. I recommend Elixir 16182 Phosphor Bronze Nanoweb HD Light Acoustic Strings 13-53. See some youtube videos how to do it. 3. Increase the playability using a light strings. See the link in item 1. Pros 1. Excellent full sound. Easily mistaken for a full body western guitar because of the sound. 2. Highly portable 3. Excellent satin finish 4. Despite the size the playability is awesome with a more lighter string set 5. Despite to be not recommended to play on the sofa, it is so easy play on the couch with this guitar. Kinda made for it. 6. Comes with a well made not so soft bag, but still bag. Cons 1. Price, little bit steep 2. The back of the guitar is arched or little bit rounded. I’m sure this is by design to increase the resonance of the instrument but in some circumstances the guitar slips when playing it.

Just bought the Speedster Deluxe Carrera Grey with ebony fretboard. The whole guitar is awesome in terms of the neck, frets, body color – a darker grey with red highlights. The size is ideal and the finish is top grade. Also bought and installed the gold locking tuners from Traveler – you do this one side at a time. They work well to prevent string slippage and keep the guitar in tune and they look really fine on this guitar. What about the sound: amazingly good with the humbucker pickup! Separately purchased AKG K240 headphones and plugged the jack into the 1/8" on the body. WOW! I like the four modes: clean, boost, overdrive and distortion – you will find what you want from this selection. If you don't need to hear it live, this will be enough. However if you like to hear the sound live when you travel and don't have much room, you can buy a mini amp which plugs into the 1/4" jack on the guitar. My choice (there are lots) was a Boss Katana mini amp and separately a Boss PSA electric cord to plug it into the wall (and skip the batteries). I can't say enough about the whole package. Traveler did an Excellent job designing this!

Out of the box it is a very attractive piece but getting it to tune is impossible. The neck bends, the springs flex, the upper point shape digs into your arm, the machine heads don't fine-tune and wont hold. The volume knob is too close to the playing area causing sudden volume changes when it's bumped while playing, the frets are too high causing the strings to bend when making even the simplest of chords causing a de-tuned sound, the Floyd Rose mechanism is made of too light and flimsy springs and machine parts to be stable. Thirty seconds of hearing this thing play would make anybody switch the station. Otherwise it is very attractive and has a nice gloss finish. The intonation is a joke. I tried everything – relocating the neck, locking the Floyd solid, hours of work . It did improve slightly but the neck bends while tuning making it impossible to get anything other than a noise maker and something you could hang on your wall for show. Since I made so many modifications in an attempt to make the thing even usable I now am unable to return it. I might be able to use the pots for another project but the rest of it is junk. I would try and get the seller to buy it back but even I wouldn't want it back so I'm sure they wont accept it. After I re-work a guitar it usually worth several thousand dollars. I spent the equivalent of $5,000.00 worth of labor on this thing and it is still worthless.

Overall: The fit and finish on this Mexican-made guitar is terrible! The cheaper Indonesian-made version I have is much much better. Fender should be ashamed of themselves for turning out product like this. The frets are not finished on either edge. They'll cut you if you're not careful. The binding on the lower bout is much wider than on the upper bout. The toggle switch is noisy, doesn't engage well, and is cheap feeling. The intonation setup on arrival was not only severely off on the lower strings, but required moving to the alternate saddle screw location on the Floyd bridge. I have other Mexican-made instruments as well. They are all substandard, but this one is the worst. Cannot recommend any Mexican-made Fender instruments.

Overall: First thing I have to say is when I opened it I went over it with a fine tooth comb because I've heard so many nightmare stories about Gibson quality control over the past decade. My guitar was impeccable. Not a single issue whatsoever, as it should be for what they cost now. This guitar comes with the 490r and 490t pickups. These are fine if you play blues, jazz, or classic rock. If you want to play hard rock or metal you may want to look into replacement pickups. The 490r is very warm and thick. It sounds great for clean arpeggios and overdriven soloing, but it can sound downright muddy playing chords with any overdrive on it. Even with the pickup heights adjusted it was a little louder than the 490t bridge pickup. Now the 490t doesn't sound too bad. It's a pretty clear, but doesn't have a whole lot of output. Stick an overdrive in front of a dirty amp and it will sing, but it won't have the compressed singing quality on it's own. That can be good or bad depending on what you need. I played around with them for a couple weeks before deciding to replace them with Seymour Duncans (JB and Jazz). The Jazz has a lot more clarity in the neck than the 490r and it still has warmth to it. The JB just sings and still cleans up with the volume knob despite being high output. They're the go to aftermarket pickups as far as I'm concerned. If it had shipped with a 498t in the bridge I might not have been so quick to swap the pickups out. I love the fact that this has a maple neck. Maple is a lot sturdier than mahogany plus the Les Paul Customs in the 70s had maple necks. That's really the main reason I jumped for this rather than a Studio. No it doesn't have the binding like the Classic, Traditional, or Standard LPs, but I'm used to the no frills construction of my faded SG. It doesn't bother me. It has a simple beauty to it. My guitar is the tobacco burst and I really like how the neck, top, and back all have different colors. You get what you pay for, but it's not as good a value as it was a couple years ago. Replace the 490t with a 498t and drop the price (yeah right) back down a bit and I'd give it a 5/5. As it is it is a solid 4/5. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if you're in the market for a Les Paul.

When you want a Les Paul you’ll want a real Les Paul so that’s a Gibson and not a single cut guitar by any onther manufacturer that has its looks changed because it may not look like a Gibson Les Paul. Furthermore: the Gibson Les Paul since its inception in the ‘50’s has always been and will be THE benchmark. Period. This Gibson Les Paul Classic is a gorgeous, great guitar and very competetively priced too. For your tone you really do not need an AAA flame top; many of the best sounding ‘vintage’ Les Pauls are plaintops. And when you do not want one of the ‘burst’ versions that just do not quite meet the looks of the old ones, this Translucent Red is the way to go.. you’ll be buying a guitar that reminisces of George Harrison’s ‘Lucy’ and Dicky Betts’s ‘Redtop’ without having to fork out Custom Shop money. You’ll also get 4 push-pull pots that effectively give you all the inspiring tonal options (including the ‘Peter Green’ out of phase tone) you’d find in a Custom Shop Jimmy Page # 2 (read the spec sheets) but again without having to pay the Custom Shop Price. Between 1990 and 2008 there was also a ‘Les Paul Classic’ too but the ‘Classic’ version on sale these days has little to do with that previous ‘Classic 1960’. The Burstbucker pick ups are supposed to adhere to the specifications Seth Lover intended and that Gibson was applying to the 1961 P.A.F. / Patent Number Pickups. And indeed the Burstbuckers are clear, brilliant, a bit ‘bright’ and not ‘woolly’ or ‘fatty’. More a bit like the P90 ‘without hum’ it was designed to be but then a little more powerful, without the screaming harshness of some ceramic pickups Gibson used in the past. The Grover tuners – although I prefer the looks of the Kluson keystones – are also ‘60’s-modifications’ and I must say they have a wonderfull ‘solid’ mechanically feeling action. The crown inlays in the fretboard are a perfect fit (unlike some others where gaps were obvioulsy filled up with glue or something) and the fret bindings have been finished properly (in the past I’ve seen that done less scrupulously..). The Classic also sports the ‘modern’ larger strap holders so it is not imperative to fit straplock systems right away… Any drawbacks? Some people might scare back at the weight: it comes in at 4.25 kilo’s and the Slim Taper neck profile (also a ‘60’s’ characteristic) has to be your thing. Minor detail: upon arrival the fretboard was very dry but all it needed was some luscious application of Axe Wax and now the fretboard has the same nice even chocolate brown hue as my Gibson 2019 Firebird. When you are on the search for ‘a’ Les Paul, at least try the Les Paul Classic as well. I have sold two M.I.J. Tokai LoveRocks (a 2002 and a 2003) to fund the purchase of the Gibson Les Paul Classic; that was a gamble but I was right in doing so; the Les Paul Classic really pleases me a lot more. And a note I must add: mine came perfectly set up by one of the guitar techs of Music Store; thank you! Even the intonation was spot on !

Bought for my 15 year old daughter who has been learning on an acoustic guitar and wants to step up to an electric guitar. She did some research and settled on the Epiphone Les Paul SL Vintage Sunburst. DV247.com had the best price and also stock this in other finishes. The guitar arrived in perfect condition and looks great. My daughter played a few chords she has been learning and it sounds good. I'm no expert so can't comment more than that.

Overall: First off the looks. Wow ! I get a lot of compliments on this thing. The neck is a great smooth satin modern c shape and the frets were finished nicely. Fretboard is rolled well and feels good and the nut is well made, I did take the nut down to a lower first fret action as they ship a little high . The electronics were a lot better than I expected have full size pots and nice cloth wire with a fender style robust switch . The pickups are great !! They aren’t special at one thing but perfect all rounders ! I don’t feel the need to change them any time soon .

Set up a walk off grandslam right outta box. Took off the power slinky .11's and put some regular slinky 10s on. Ahhh there we go. Book match on the wood is 99.9 percent. The fretboard scale length is a little bit shorter than all my Jackson's 25.5 Compound radius'… and what a pleasant treat indeed. This thing plays like a buttery Dream for ppl with smaller phalanges, like president tiny hands and myself. Playing it through a hartke acr5 (yea…ur gonna want one of those too)…and feeling a bit proud of that combo might I say. Tremendous. Great. Bigly huge. The best…This thing comes to life in an acoustic amp and will suffice on an electric (my grandmeister 36 good, but not in the realm of acoustic bliss)… ain't the same, get a hartke/fishman/Marshall amp to compliment this modern marvel. Spire inlay is beautiful and flawless and there is not one on the headstock as description claims; that was for first edition run. There is virtually no heel (like a 3 mm heel) on the back where the neck joins the body. You can ride it up to the Top and back in the blink of an eye, completely unimpeded. Lightning fast like an Jackson USA – Ebony fretboard, a must have for a guitar of this quality. Ebony is becoming more rare and guitar manufacturers want to give you Richlite with the same price tag. Noooo noooo noooo. Richlite only permissable on nylon string, never ever ever a steel string…and certainly not on any axe over 2k. Yea…im looking at you Henry from Gibson. From the headstock to the bridge saddle and all the dressing in between…bravo! The pups are a great match and completely buzz free. The knobs smooth and pickup selector solid. Piezo output without the unwanted extra noise. she's just perfect; Every last detail immaculate. Now I see why it won electric and acoustic guitar of the year. You get what you pay for folks and for aristocratic (only in taste) gear heads like myself…Nothing else is gonna cut it 🙂 I am always objective when I review items and am not inhibited by conformation bias just because I bought it. It Truly is a high class instrument; the Pinnacle of Sonic superiority. Take my advice now, thank me later ??

Before purchasing this guitar I played a bunch of T5Z guitars in the area. I always enjoyed their low action, neck and scale length. This guitar makes it easy to play rigorous jazz chords that are spread apart. The electronics work well with all the amplifiers I have tried it through. This guitar is also lovely unplugged for practicing around the house. I definitely recommend this instrument for the serious musician looking for a versatile guitar.
