Reviews:
My experience with Richards Guitars has been fabulous. From my first enquiry through delivery of my guitar the process went flawlessly and VERY much quicker than I had expected, given that I reside in Canada. It was Richard’s video, testing the Vintage VSA 500 that persuaded me to buy from them and as promised, their attention to detail, even during these pandemic restrictions has made me a great supporter of the company. I love the guitar and case. It is everything that Richard reported it to be and more. Thank you for your dedication and support Gerry Lisk Ottawa CanadaGerald L.
A huge thank you to the team for my wonderful VSA500 Walnut. Particularly to John who I dealt with for the majority of the process who's a credit to RGuitars. There was a delay to my order, at the fault of the supplier, however John was very helpful resolving any queries I had. I played the guitar both before and after setup as I live locally so had the luxury of visiting during the order process. The work Chris does on the guitars is excellent and I walked away with a guitar to fit my budget that I was confident in. It plays a treat. Richard made me feel welcome in the new workshop, took the time to talk to me about my guitar and show me around. Overall my experience was excellent. I would recommend to my friends and will visit again I'm sure.Luke F.
Guitar was well set up on arrival, however it had a lacquer crack on the back of the neck that possibly occurred in transit. Jack socket was loose. Volume pot not tightened and spinning enough to have broken solder on wire. Offered discount or exchange. Accepted refund and fixed pot and socket myself, applying serrated washers that should have been present during assembly. These issues should really have been noticed during inspection and/or set up. Fret ends not very well dressed. I did this myself, but you need to be experienced to do so. I now have a £379 guitar (bought for £290 after the refund) that sounds and plays like a considerably more expensive one and has a very good sunburst finish, but was a bit disappointed by the issues that should have been caught at some point. Also disappointed that I had to chase the refund after 10 days.William D.

Reviews:
A special thank you to my sales engineer Matthew Langston who helped me find this guitar. As always, he is the Sweetwater difference! The KOA top is beautiful and the 12-string sound is fantastic. The pickup selection provides a wide range of sounds to fit the genre you are playing. It has been a joy to play! It is my first Taylor steel string and I haven't been disappointed.
You can read lots of pros and cons online about this model and this is just another perspective, but based on my 50 years of professional guitar performance on solid bodies, hollow bodies, dreadnaughts and salon size steel strings, nylon string and acoustic and electric 12-string. Folks who pan this Taylor apparently would be disappointed that a vintage Gibson 335 doesn't sound exactly like a D-28 and a Les Paul Custom rolled into one. Anyone who researches this model HAS to know it is not a compromise concept, it seeks to take the characteristics of both acoustic and electric guitars and make them available in one instrument. For what it does, I think it does it superbly. I play with bare, short fingernails and no picks so this may influence my tonal perception but this thing through my JBL EON One sounds gorgeous, as good as any hollow jazz box I've had and better than most of them. Solos on the humbucker can get about as much sustain and crunch as a competent player would ask for. And as for playability: this thing is a dream to play. Pulloffs and hammers are effortless, the neck feels perfect with just enough fret height to let me thumb the strings without bottoming them. The hardware is well positioned for the most part with the tone and volume controls unobtrusive as I like them; I don't need hatbox knobs that are bigger than my bathroom faucets. Fit and finish are the usual Taylor standard, which is amazing for a mass produced instrument. All in all, my purchase of this T5-C1 with maple top was one of the best guitar buys I've ever made…and I've made a lot of them. This match feels like one made in heaven and I would encourage those players who are sophisticated enough to appreciate a concept that is fresh and well executed to look closely at the T5-C1 or variants of this model as they are available. Put it to work for you and I am confident that the more you use it, the more you will come to appreciate how well the design concept works in allowing you the artistic freedom to express yourself through your instrument to the fullest.son_of_idiot
This guitar has all of the sweet sounds an functions of a T5Z guitar the form of a 12 string guitar. There is little add to this review that I haven't say in my T5Z review, except that it is in a 12 string. I could play for hours with this guitar, that I would not or could not do with other 12 stings. Playing is effortless, however it is dependent upon which songs you are playing. Great for Folk songs and single performers, but not for hard rock or Reggae. As with most 12 stings, it fills the void with sound in songs. Bar cords are relatively easy as in most 12 string guitars. I reduce the rating because it does not fit into other T5Z Taylor guitar cases. Yep! You need to buy a Dedicated Taylor case, since the T5Z cases are of a slightly narrower dimension. Like wise, other accessories are also of a slightly different dimension, rendering a need to duplicate seemingly identical accessories. As an individual or paired performers, you will love this guitar as it makes you sing and feeling like a professional!ZipperMan
3. Michael Kelly Forte Port 12 String Randy Jackson Signature Guitar Mk12xzisfx Zebra

Product Details:
The forte port 12 builds on the design and innovative technology of forte port acoustic guitars. this visually striking guitar combines exotic ziricote wood with a natural gloss finish. the styling is further enhanced with mother-of-pearl inlays that adorn the ovangkol fingerboard, including the forte celtic knot and black diecast tuners. the sonic performance is just as striking as its look. the offset sound hole creates a larger resonant area under the strings for improved depth, accuracy and tone. the forte port side-mounted soundhole produces superior tone and clarity and allows you to hear sound coming directly from the body of the instrument for easy monitoring. want to go electric? no problem. the forte port 12 features fishman electronics to capture the full and natural sound of the guitar. the active electronics include volume, contour and phase controls along with a built in tuner.
Reviews:
I had this on my wish list for a couple of years and after finally getting to try it out at my local Sam Ash, it did not disappoint. Online reviews were consistently good with a few mentions of the strings being coated and how it gave an unusual feel and sound. According to the Michael Kelly website, the strings are D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze, Light, 12-53, so they shouldn't be some off the wall knock offs but my experience over the last few weeks has been that after a few minutes of playing, the tips of my fingers on my fret hand and the palm of my strumming hand turned black. I've never had this happen on any other guitars I have. I tried rotating after 15 minutes between my Jackson, my Strat, my Martin Backpacker and then my Michael Kelly and, every time, after a few minutes of playing the Forte Port, my fingers turned black. I've played a lot of guitars since the 80's (not professionally) and this is a new one on me. Obviously, the strings can be changed but I feel it is worth mentioning because for someone's first guitar, it may be off putting if they are unaware. If I can edit a review, I'll try to add a pic of my fingers (there's no way to make that sound right…) when I get time. That's my two cents…Sean
Overall: I was reluctant to buy this Michael Kelly. I like to try it before I buy it . With that being said , The guitar come it flawless. It was packaged very good . I played for about an hour after opening the box. The action is spot on. It plays and feels more like an electric guitar. Hammer on pull offs pitch bends are perfect. The sustain goes on forever. The neck feels a touch wider than my Martin, but that's a good thing for me. There are no fret buzzes at. It's vert light and comfortable , light weight is a must , I have had shoulder surgery 3 times. The balance and weight are near perfect . Michael Kelly may not have the prestige of Martin. Gibson and such , but as far as the sound and quality build , it simply can not be beat in this price range.Mark
I was looking for an acoustic electric guitar to do some home recording with. I already own 2 dreadnaughts so I was looking for a concert style body. I also wanted something other than a spruce top guitar, as that is what my other two acoustics are made from. I happened across this Michael Kelly model and did a lot of research to see if it would fit my needs. It looked and sounded great. The price was amazing. I was thinking that it was almost too good to be true. I ordered it from AMS and it got to me in 5 days. It's all I had hoped for. Great sound, beautiful guitar, and it was set up well. The action was nice and low just how I like it. No sharp fret ends, like you often find on lesser priced guitars. For $349.00, this thing is a steal. Love it. Thanks AMS for the quick service.
4. Eko Ranger Xii Vintage Reissue 12-String Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar Honey Burst

Product Details:
In 1962, eko decided to produce a series of folk guitars, upon popular demand by italian and foreign markets. after a thorough market research, the dreadnought shape was chosen, very much in fashion in the u.s. at the time. initially the 6-string j54 was produced. it was an immediate success due to style, playability and price. it wasn't long until there was a demand for a 12-string version, especially in us and uk, which led to the j56, as it was named until ‘67. after just a short time, the j56 became the best-selling 12-string guitar on the market. in 1967, both the 6-string and 12-string went through a restyle and the new versions were showcased under the names of ranger vi and ranger xii. eko is continuing the tradition of the ranger with a vintage reissue version as 6 and 12-string. the ranger is the guitar that very well represents the history of eko. a guitar that has been very important in the past, continues to be very important today and will surely become more important in the future of eko. it now brings new life the most beautiful and interesting features used in the past, all combined together in this stylish instrument. case sold separately.

Reviews:
Just got this guy….interesting guitar. some of the stock description is incorrect, the nut is steel or stainless steel and sits in a weird half fret area above the first fret (I have an old meazzi guitar with the same arrangement. the saddle is plastic and sits in a metal u shaped holder that you can adjust the height with the supplied alan key, handy, don't have to remove the saddle to lower the action. overall the thing is heavy and well built. had some work getting it playable though, it tuned up easy enough but there was that weird twang on the B string, usually tweeking the truss rod cures that, but it didn't, raising and lowering the saddle didn't fix it, changing the straight plastic saddle to a compensated plastic saddle didn't help either…..maybe one of the upper frets? got a little frustrating, then I decided to just change the strings, usually the first thing to do with a 300.00 guitar and that was that, no twang, weird, but this is an Italian guitar company (not to be racist, I'm Italian) so anyway, the fishman electronics are adequate, not a big fan of sound hole mounted controls but fortunately the 9 volt battery is located at the bottom of the lower bout next to the 1/4" jack as apposed to some guitars with a velcroed holder buried inside the guitar. this guitar is a strummer for sure and after I beat it up at home for awhile I'll do a gig with it.Nick
I took a chance and purchased it sight unseen because it was on sale and the most interesting (to me) in its price range. Color isn't as solidly orange-looking as in the photo. The grain is still visible. Logo on the headstock is a three-d decal, not inlay. Guitar is pretty heavy, too. The bridge is easy to adjust, which was useful, considering there was some fret buzz in the set up. After some tweaking and new strings, it's turned out to be a nice guitar.Manuel
I love the eko ranger guitars And as I hand a 12 string version I was delighted when I found this beauty which can also play through an amp and speaker. The tone is rich and warm. I love it. The price is very good for this quality instrument. Also10 out of 10 For these livery which was well ahead of the estimated delivery date. Fantastic service.jim culbert (

Product Details:
The ibanez aeg 12-string acoustic-electric guitar features a small and simple preamp that has only two control knobs, volume, and shape. this at-a-glance tone control offers natural acoustic sound in the center position. it allows players to adjust the tone easily and enables them to go from low, fat, and powerful tones to a bright and crisp sound while adjusting only one knob. a new easy-to-read onboard tuner with lcd(liquid crystal display) is located on the preamp. the purpleheart produces a rich mid-range with a crisp high end for optimal sound quality.ibanez advantage bridge pinsthese pins are an advantage over old-fashioned pins. the advantage pins are easier to take out and easier to put in than standard pins. a special bulb-shaped end makes the pin easy to grip and also prevents the pin from being pushed in too far. best of all, with advantage, the pin and string stay put.preampthe neck side of the preamp is the top of the control panel. there is an lcd screen readout for the tune at the top center of the control unit. the volume knob is on the far left, and the shape knob is on the far right. in between both knobs is a tuner on/off switch.

Reviews:
This was a demo basically flawless.alex always great at Sweetwater. And went through 55 point inspection Logan and Cody did a excellent job. Thanks Sweetwater. You rock
Loved the look, price, sound, and feel of this guitar. Tried it out in the store and was ready to buy the floor model, but luckily I asked for a 9V battery to test the electronics at the counter. Oddly the battery port fits fine into the guitar when empty, but the moment you put a battery in it it will not stay shut and pops open rendering your electronics useless. Me and the sales rep at the front figured this was had to be a fluke and he ordered a new one to be delivered to my house. Four days later it arrived. I played it for about an hour out of the box without issue (set up was great, sounded great acoustic) and then I decied to check the electronics. Sure enough, the exact same issue occured when I tried to fit a 9V in the battery port. When a battery was actually in it, it would not stay shut. No tuner, no electronics. Ten minutes later I was back at my local GC. The tech inspected it an came to the same conclusion as I did after trying 5 different brand batteries to see if that made a difference- it's defective. He recommended I return it and try another product. In short it plays nice, sounds nice, and looks nice but if it happened on 2 guitars it has to be happening on more of them. I'm sure you could duck tape it or find a way to keep it closed but this should not be an issue on a $350+ guitar. 3 stars.Ryan
This is my second 12 string and I really like it. Sounds great action is outstanding and onboard tuner is great – I could not ask for more.Jim

Reviews:
I bought this product for my son who is learning to play it. He enjoys practicing and I actually enjoy listening to the smooth sound.crivera
I love it! … worth every penny … (and didn't actually cost very many pennies) … the funny thing is MINI + JUMBO = regular size … it's not mini and it's not jumbo which works for me … love the built-in electronics … beautiful finishKuehnrat
I needed an inexpensive guitar for my son Craig. After exhausting hours of shopping & looking for just "the right one"- we came across this one from Stagg. Craig really liked the way it looked and I liked the price- so we got it. We have had this guitar for two weeks now and since then he hasn't been able to put it down. We have a guitar amp that my husband used to use (back in the day)- so my son could "plug in". The guitar sounds great through the amp. My son LOVES plugging this guitar in. Craig had his first guitar lesson last night and his Stagg Guitar fared really well. His teacher was impressed with the guitar and said its intonation is great and it "tunes well" (not 100% sure what all of that means but it sounded great). I just bought a carry bag for this guitar today (at the request of our teacher) and now feel completely sure that this guitar was a perfect buy for us. Hope this review helps. We are not experts in guitars- but feel as if we found a winner in this one!magdon1
7. Schecter Orleans Studio-12 String Acoustic Guitar Satin See Thru Black

Product Details:
This set-neck mahogany guitar from schecter is an example of solid-top construction done right. the top is one sheet of clear cedar, making for an instrument that will hold up to fluctuating temperatures and humidity better than a laminated top ever could. not to mention, with a cedar-mahogany combination, the body is poised to project its tonality just how you'd hope. rounded out with a few accessories to make the package really shine, this guitar will meet the needs of any guitarist hunting for the classic shape and style. construction & build other than the solid cedar top, this guitar is all-mahogany, with a set-neck build that will feel rock solid whether you're sitting or standing to play. mahogany is a top-end tonewood that lends to rich and consistent tones, and you'll lose nothing between the bottom end of the scale to the top. the neck has 20 mid-height frets, and features a nice "thin c" neck shape. accessories & hardware you'll find a fishman sonicore piezo tucked inside the body and ready for action, which works with a fishman isys+ preamp to make the most out of this guitar's natural tonality. the cable plugin is just adjacent to the strap lug. your tuners, grover's rotomatics, will keep everything in playing shape longer than a lot of standard-issue cheap tuners on other guitar brands' offerings, and you'll appreciate the consistency when you realize how rarely the guitar seems to need tuning at all. the hardware for thetuner (which features on-body controls for bass, treble, volume, and phase switching) is done in black chrome for a cohesive, subdued look.

Reviews:
Overall: Wow. Just wow. When I heard about this guitar as it first released, I was excited because I'm pretty loyal to Schecter, already having a few of their Hellraiser 7 strings in my collection. Availability on it was limited to completely zero, though, but eventually, one popped up here and I jumped on it. Glad I did. It is absolutely amazing. Plays like a dream right out of the box, looks and sounds incredible. Schecter sets the bar SUPER high, as always. Cost wise, this thing is on part with instruments at least triple it's price tag. As a metal/jazz/neo-classical guy looking to move into more acoustic spaces, this is perfect. An absolute dream.
I recently took delivery of an open box "condition level 2" Schecter Orleans Stage Acoustic/electric guitar from MF. I can't find a ding, a nick or a scratch anywhere on it. The only negative I can find are a few rust spots on the strings. Even the action if set very good. I cannot imagine what the person who returned this guitar was looking for that they had to return this one? In my time I've owned and played a Martin D18, Taylor Grand Pacific, Larrivee L-03 and over a half dozen other of various brands and prices. This mid price half-a-grand guitar hangs with and in some cases surpasses the big dogs from the big names! The vampyre red is a very beautiful, deep red. And it great flame on the maple back. Size is GA and very comfortable. Upper fret access is good too. The guitar sounds great with good projection acoustically, and is even better plugged into a Yamaha TRC desk-top amp. I was concerned with the maple back & sides making it too bright, but the tones are really just perfect. Nice lows, mids & trebles across the spectrum. And the best part is the neck. I don't have big, meaty hands and with this one some of the chords I've struggled with and also some barre chords come easy! EASY! I have a Schecter electric and it's a keeper…I just didn't even know Schecter built acoustics but I do now and can't wait to try the Orleans Studio w/ the cedar top or maybe the 7 & 12 string Stage models. Bottom line, I can't see how anyone would not be fully impressed with this fine instrument.AK-J
For the price this guitar sounds amazing. The neck and action come perfect right out of the box. Its super comfortable to play. It looks great too. At the price this guitar is amazing! I recommend some DR Veritas strings. The one down side although super minor is the strap button on the button is also the input jack, my first acoustic electric idk if this is standard. But it makes putting a strap lock on super hard and annoying. Schecter is known for their amazing electric guitars but i can assure this acoustic is well worth the money and an amazing instrument.Matt C.
8. Takamine Ef381sc 12-String Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Black
Product Details:
This is a beautiful takamine 12 string ef381sc. this is an older model, thus having faded lighter colors in the binding. never the less, the guitar is in excellent condition. the sound is incredible and will bring harmonious sound to any chord played. the electronics are great and are in full working condition. takamine decal has been added to the pick guard for previous desired customization. new elixir nanoweb strings have been put on this guitar. these string play smoothly and give clear and vibrant sounds. gave the guitar a nice polish and cleaning, shines so bright now! case will be included.
Reviews:
I’ve owned a EF381SC-LH since the early 90s. My being left handed had a lot to do with my decision to purchase it, as up to that point it was the only 12 string I’d ever seen in person, never mind Getting to play one. I was able to tune it by ear and it plays as easily as an electric guitar, so buying it was a no brainer. But over the years I’ve come to appreciated it more for it’s acoustic and amplified tone. It sounds great plugged into my guitar amp, it doesn’t need to go through a PA. It takes the dry New England fall/winter less than 20% humidity while never protruding a fret or needing a truss rod adjustment. I do use two Dampits less than diligently. This 12 string Is one of the best values in the guitar universe, if you have ever wanted one this is the one to get.Stan
I use this guitar as a requinto. (Mexican Guitar) It's just beautiful. I'm at a loss of words with this one the beautiful Gloss Black Finish and the mahogany Takamine logo and Fret markers are just flawless. I would purchase this guitar time after time if i had the money. Oh, and not to mention the electronic pickup that comes factory with it. It just sounds beautiful, super rich, and just cannot compete with the G Series Pickup.IsaiRequinto
This guitar was sold as "blemished." I haven't found any blemishes on the guitar. When it arrived it still had the plastic scratch guard on the pickguard, and the strings were still stretching the way brand new strings do. I tried the lower range Takamine 12 string, the GD 30CE, and wasn't happy with the feel of the the neck, string height, or the over all sound of the guitar. So I ordered this one. I know this range of Takamine guitars well because I own an EF 341SC. So far, this guitar has delighted me at every turn. I've not yet played the guitar through a PA system, but plugged into a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface and recording it sounds great: well balanced and rich. The same if not better recording off of a live mic. The neck feels good, the string height is perfect.Ron

Reviews:
I love this product. It came exactly how I wanted it to. The only thing that as missing that I wanted was the Takamine sticker.Cristian
I just received my EF381DX today, and all I can say is "WOW!" The detail and finish work is superb. The factory setup is very good as well. I will probably have it taken in for minor bridge adjustment, but nothing too serious. For comparison, I owned an EF381SC about 15 years ago and the factory setup and finish work was less than stellar and needed a little bit of adjustment for the action. Don't get me wrong, it sounded amazing, but for the price I paid at the time, it could've been a little better. This guitar sounds exactly like I remember how the SC sounded all those years ago, and is far superior in finish work. The binding, fretboard inlays, headstock inlay and Abalone purfling and rosette are perfectly done. The bone nut and bridge saddle are shaped cleanly and with precision (way better than my old SC), although I prefer either a B string compensated saddle or fully compensated saddle. The pearloid tuning machines and perfectly buffed gloss finish round out the amazing look of this guitar. Great work, Takamine!!!Geasley
Very pleased with this fine instrument… After a major setup it plays as good as any 12 string that I have ever played. The only thing that I would like to have different is a thinner and narrower neck… but every 12 string guitar maker is stuck at 1 7/8" at the nut… so I have to live with it… Not that it is a burden… just my personal preference… The sound is no less than awesome… and when amplified and when stereoized through my Line 6 X3 Live pedal the sound becomes heavenly… and fills the venue with the fullness and harmonics that a 12 string should deliver… I am a solo artist… a musicianary… and I need to be able to fill the venue with sound as I play and sing… and this fine instrument fills the requirement very nicely… much better than the other 12 strings that I tried and owned… and of course the unique pickup and preamp combination fills out the excellence of the sound. I have a Custom Legend Ovation and a Custom Elite Ovation… both black with abalone compliments… and this black beauty fits right in with my signature axes… Looks great adorning the stage… and sounds as good as it looks!!! Then there is Sweetwater… one awesome company in every respect!!! And sales engineer Ashton Boyd… what can I say??? The patience of Job with me… always kind and extremely helpful in every respect… making sure that I have what I need and what I want… We have been doing business for several years now and he has NEVER let me down… and always goes the extra mile to take care of me… and always has a smile in his voice… for this I am truly blessed.
10. Takamine Ef400sc Tt 12-String Electric-Acoustic Guitar

Product Details:
The takamine ef400sc-tt acoustic guitar is a 12-string dreadnought that incorporates takamine's "thermal top" technology giving the musician the desired sound of a played-in vintage instrument in a new guitar with modern amenities, such as a slender neck, and exceptional ct4b ii electronics. hard-shell case included condition: the guitar had a minor bridge repair (re-glue) by an authorized technician. it is hardly noticeable and does not affect the guitars tone, play-ability or structural integrity in any way. it also has two small top cracks repaired that run out from the bridge. (see pics) otherwise, it is in near mint condition played for testing purposes only. the included hard-shell case may have a few dings, tears, scratches and scuffs but is also in overall good condition and functions fine. these guitars are sent directly from the manufacturer to the authorized refurbishing center where they are fully inspected and cleared by a certified technician. the guitars are sent there for many reasons, including: cosmetic flaws, minor repairs, surplus & discontinued or last years models. all of our guitars come with a new standard setup, but may require a small amount of adjustments or fine tuning upon arrival to fit the players personal taste or to offset any normal changes that may occur from transit or climate. the guitars are given a new serial number and the back of the headstock is lightly stamped "used" or "2nd" by the authorized refurbishing center. these guitars are the next best thing to buying new!

This is the best 12 string I have ever played. I'm in absolute love with the sound. From the way the neck feels to the smell of the guitar, it is absolute quality. Highly recommended definitely worth the price!
Beautiful sound, beautiful guitar. Very good customer service @AmericanMusicsupply
This guitar is my favorite guitar that I own. I own more takamine pro series 12 string guitars and this one is the best. The quality and detail in the wood work is amazing. It has a bright and full sound. I would recommend this guitar. It comes with very low action.

Reviews:
It's very well crafted & plays well. Has a comfortable feel…..!!!cisum4cisum
Pickguard looks perloid in the picture and solid white is what I got. Upper neck has NO pickup selection. I know because I took it apart and all 3 upper pickups are wired directly to the output!! The knob in the middle, should be a blend pot that allows one to have one, both or adjust volume between the 2 necks. What the factory did was McGeyver a regular volume pot to try to do the same thing that kinda works, but not very well. 6 string neck on the on I recieved was very unstable! If you push one way or another, you can hear it go out of tune. 12 string neck is actually a little better, but the string break angle at the nut is ridiculous and pulls at the nut. I had to glue the nut in place (should have been done at the factory) to keep the strings in their proper place. Now I know at this price point for this type of guitar, you might have to put some work in, but some basic stuff should be ok from the jump and quality control sucks. I am a tinkerer and 40 year guitar player. So I know some things and know how to fix stuff. Good Luck if you get one of these that is playable out the box!!Rodd
This is one of the better double neck guitar as Ive bought for that price point, if not the best. Plays great and the neck is straight and true. I highly suggest it if youre in the market for a double neck guitar.timhi1572

Reviews:
Bought the guitar on line through Guitar Center; Guitar Center is great. Out of the box, the guitar was playable but when being set up by my guitar tech, he discovered the fretboard was bowed at the connection point between the neck and the body. Ovation covered the repair under warranty. After being set up, the guitar plays great. Now I have a problem with the on board electronics and it is back to the shop for more warranty repairs. The guitar otherwise sounds and looks great. I was dissapointed that the guitar was made in Korea rather than the U.S. You get what you pay for. I own two other Ovation guitars and am very pleased with the sound and playability of all three guitars.
I rated this guitar a 1, if a Zero would have been a choice I would have given it a Zero. I absolutely hated this Guitar. I don't know if it just wasn't set up right or that's just the way Ovation sends out their Guitars. The string action on the middle to high end was just terrible, strings were so far off the fret board it was just miserable to play. If you don't mind playing the Guitar on the the first 3 frets you might be in business. For what Ovation charges for this piece of junk you think you would get a better playing guitar. What really sets me off is it ships in a cardboard box, no case. I hope Ovation sees this review and streightens up their act, in this competive world there a lot of other decent guitars for the same money, Ovation must be really trying to cut cost. I wish them well and hope they open their eyes. Bottom line, don;t waste your money. I woiuld never buy another Ovation agaiin. As if you didn't know, I did return the Guitar and hopefully will receive a refund.
I sold my old 1991 12 string Ovation custom legend and bought this guitar. I had GC take the two shims out of the bridge and the action is great; and the sound is great. A little loud compared to other guitars which is not a problem for me. This guitar sits on your stomach better than the old ovations; the back also provides access to the inside of the guitar. My 1991 Ovation was made in the USA and this one is made in Korea but has great craftsmanship. The Inlays on the neck are smaller and harder to see than my older model; I do miss that. This one sounds just as good or better than the USA made custome legend. This guitar is really beautiful to look at as well. I hope this helps. I am considering buying the 6 string 2778Ax too because I gave my 1994 6 string Ovation legend to my brother which plays excellently too. Note: Ovation backs will not expand and contract with the weather so I suggest you keep the guitar in the case when not in use with a humidifier as needed. Try them all and decide. This was the best for me.Audio Video Engineer

the neck wasn't leveled the frets were sharp on the edges, the six string neck set up higher than the 12. the electronics were cheap and micro-phonic. either neck didn't seem to have a finish on them. even as a beginning guitar it wouldn't be good without a lot of work.harrisonguitars08
This guitar is very nice in appearance but the playability is a bit lacking. The tuning keys on the 12 string were stiff and binding. The volume knob for the 12 string had a wiring problem. when I would turn the volume up,(10) for the 12 string the 6 string volume would be down quite a bit. So when I switched to the 6 string I had to put the volume knob on 8 for the 12 string to get full volume for the 6. I keep all my volume knobs on 10 and adjust my overall volume from the amp. There's supposed to be separate volume knobs for this guitar but like I said there was some kinda wiring glitch. Other then this it was very nice and the sound was exceptional.merw.tom
I got this for a customer and the neck feels like a 2X4 ,not finished at all, like sand paper ,also the heal is cracked and was shimmied with a piece of plastic. View picturerpcmrsz
14. Hagstrom Viking Deluxe 12 Tobacco Sunburst
Product Details:
Hagstrom viking deluxe 12 string semi-resonant guitar is made of maple body with continuous sustain block. the maple neck was equipped with a fingerboard made of resinator wood. for proper tuning hagstrom design 18:1 tuners and for pickup 2x h50 humbuckers are used. each semi-acoustic will be optimally adjusted in our workshop.
Reviews:
I bought mine new and it's everything positive others say about it. Don't know what bobz429 is talking about. Obviously he has a modified model. Hardware is first rate with a Hagstrom designed P90 single coil at the neck and classic '58C humbucker at the bridge (Hagstrom winds their own pickups). It's a joy to play, very clean factory pups, beautiful finish, very well crafted and flawless. Rivals guitars up to 3 times the cost in my opinion. The Hagstrom composite Resinator fret board is fast and has good sustain. This guitar can be used for jazz with very clean articulation and voicing, moan the blues, fit right into classic or grunge rock and growl with the best of 'em throughout it's entire range. The ringing clarity is stunning! It's a lot of bang for your buck, and lighter than you'd think for a guitar with a 28" scale. A "tad" neck-heavy balance wise, but once you play it and realize it's potential from mild to wild, this is easily overlooked and by "no means" a deal breaker. It has 5 star ratings across the board for a reason. It's simply that good! This is a players guitar and one I'll keep the rest of my life. It will surprise and please you once you plug it in. This is an amazing baritone. Plug it in, crank it up, and jam 'til the cows come home! If your in the marketfor a baritone guitar, the Hagstrom Viking Deluxe is very hard to beat! I personally don't think any others in it's price rang hold a candle to it. Highly recommended. Enjoy! Edit: Was surprised to see I wasn't listed as a verified purchaser (don't know how that works). Oh well, I assure you I own this guitar purchased from SoundsCheapMusic on eBay out of Pleasant Hill, MO on April 22, 2015… in the Cosmic Black Burst finish. All the same, you won't be disappointed. 😉honorable1-us
With more than 15yrs. of experience with various Hagstrom guitars and over 40yrs. of playing and performing, this instrument and review was an unexpected and a very pleasant surprise. I will acknowledge that I was prompted to pull the trigger on the purchase in no small part because of a couple of reviews here on MFI, one by a fellow who is an American musician living in Sweden. From what I was able to glean from a collection of YouTube videos from past NAMM shows, it looks like the Viking DLX 12 made it's debut about 2016, and has had at least one major update since, with the most notable being larger, but traditional-shaped F-holes on the top, fully creme bound, of course. I very much agree with the opinion previously expressed about there being a major advantage for Hagstrom because of their sourcing all woods(primarily Canada)and all hardware and electronics, leaving their factory contractors in China to concentrate on building the best looking/sounding instrument possible. I would place current Hagstrom product on a par with anything from the Park factories in Korea, and nearly on par with some of the older product that came from Matsumoko in Japan. IMHO, and as pointed out by a previous reviewer, the only real contenders in this narrow category of instrument are the hollowbody Ric 300 Series, and the current Gretsch Electromatic 5422-12, both of which are 2-3X the cost of a new Viking DLX 12. Pickups are clear voiced but fairly hot, and the Resonator fretboard feels great and works with the overall timbre of a maple bodied guitar. The bookmatched flame maple body sides, top, and back are a sight to behold; laminated but beautiful. The most playable and comfortable neck I have EVER put in my hand for a 12-string; a profile similar to an early 60's Gibson or modern ESP being "thin", but with a 15" radius and a 45mm black Tusq nut. Perfect for chording and rhythm, but enough room between string pairs for either finger or flatpicking with precision. Get ItArch69er
It caught my eye hanging in my local Guitar Center in Goodlettsville, TN, which has a terrific staff btw. I asked to try it and was quite impressed with the overall build quality and set-up. Simply perfect; action, intonation, fret dressing, etc. It didn't need a thing! Thought about it overnight and returned the next day to buy it.Alan
15. Ovation 2058tx-5 Elite Tx 12-String Black Deep
Product Details:
The ovation mod tx 12-string cutaway, acoustic/electric not only has the stealthy looks of all mod tx models, it is bursting with all the extra frequencies and overtones a 12 string has to offer. it fills up the room with stunning, full-range sound. the rock maple neck adds brightness in concert with the deep contour, lyrachord composite body for harmonics you just can't get from other guitars. the elite multi-port soundholes not only look great, they shape the sound to lessen the possibility of feedback. the op-pro preamp and ocp1 pickup combination produces high output, uncompromised plugged-in performance. case not included.
Reviews:
Great guitar, sounds great and easy to playcodacooke
It's angelic and I adore it. Fingerboard is slick and makes it easier to play than any other 12 string I've tried. Plugs in, built in tuner. What's not to like?ewhi6557
The guitar was beautiful and sounded wonderful. The problem was a loose pickup/pre-amp. I bought it used, so it's hard to say if it was shipped that way or damaged in transit. Nevertheless, Music 123 promptly accepted return and credited my PayPal account. I was so impressed I bought a new version of the same guitar from them.vcc26

In 1962, eko decided to produce a series of folk guitars, upon popular demand by italian and foreign markets. after a thorough market research, the dreadnought shape was chosen, very much in fashion in the u.s. at the time. initially the 6-string j54 was produced. it was an immediate success due to style, playability and price. it wasnt long until there was a demand for a 12-string version, especially in us and uk, which led to the j56, as it was named until 67. after just a short time, the j56 became the best-selling 12-string guitar on the market. in 1967, both the 6-string and 12-string went through a restyle and the new versions were showcased under the names of ranger vi and ranger xii. eko is continuing the tradition of the ranger with a vintage reissue version as 6 and 12-string. the ranger is the guitar that very well represents the history of eko. a guitar that has been very important in the past, continues to be very important today and will surely become more important in the future of eko. it now brings new life the most beautiful and interesting features used in the past, all combined together in this stylish instrument. case sold separately.bodybody type: dreadnought cutaway: non-cutaway top wood: spruce back & sides: mahogany bracing pattern: not specified body finish: gloss orientation: right handed neckneck shape: low profile nut width: 2.04" (52mm) fingerboard: rosewood neck wood: mahogany scale length: 25.5" number of frets: 22 neck finish: gloss electronicspickup/preamp: yes brand: fishman sonitone configuration: undersaddle piezo preamp eq: no feedback filter: no tuner: nootherheadstock overlay: rosewood tuning machines: die-cast bridge: rosewood saddle & nut: adjustable plastic saddle, aluminum/zero fret nut number of strings: 12-string special features: body style case: sold separately accessories: none country of origin: china

Tama tg-80 rare acoustic vintage guitar 1977 german spruce / solid mahogany – tama is regarded as the finest guitars ever made in japan. they were made from 1975 thru 1979 and offered many models. the vast majority of these being spruce and mahogany or spruce and jacaranda, a couple of classical versions were also available. my mom and i have owned a number of these, and all were exceptional instruments. the tg-80 differed from the rest by being the only model they produced with a solid german spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, and ebony fingerboard. there are no issues at all with the guitar, and structurally it is perfect. cosmetically it has a couple of minor scuffs as seen in the images. hardshell case included in the sale to protect the guitar. *guitar center just cleaned and tuned guitar 10/2021* if you have any questions, please feel free to forward an email. *used*
