I typically play steel string acoustics. I wanted a quality nylon string guitar without the wide flat neck of a standard classical guitar. This is it. Extremely well made with quality woods (no laminates) that has a great sound (both amplified and unplugged). It does not have a large body and projection is somewhat limited when playing unplugged but has incredible sound both amplified and not amplified. Can be played quietly when everyone else has gone to sleep, or can flood the house with music if they're awake. The action and intonation on this guitar was fabulous right out of the box and I didn't have to make any setup adjustments. This is an awesome guitar and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nylon string acoustic.John
In 1981 I had three guitars, two of them acoustics, and one of those was an Ovation Country Artist–a nylon-string guitar with a 14 fret, comparatively narrow neck. It was my first good guitar, but when I left for grad school, I kept only a Martin OO-18, and sold the Ovation. In the 30 years since, I have been trying to find a replacement, I tried various Ibanez and Yamaha guitars, but they didn't have what it took. Then, a couple of months ago, needing a brain break, I left work and took myself to the acoustic room at Sam Ash. There was another guy in there playing, so I looked for a quiet instrument, and took this one down off the wall. Immediately, I knew that it was special. The clarity of the tone, and the richness of the bass, it was all there. The other guy liked the sound too, and soon we were jamming and telling stories. Both of us tried other neoclassical guitars, and agreed that this one was best. I loved the guitar at first note, but when I looked at the price tag, I knew I could never own it. So I bought (online) a similar guitar, but it lacked the feel and sound of this one. My wife heard me playing, asked what I thought about the similar guitar I'd bought, and I explained that it wasn't the same. Then she told me to buy this one. So I did, And I have been playing it daily since then. The OO-18 is still with me and still gets some time, but right now my fingers itch to play and hear this one. Overall, I'd say that I'm very happy with the guitar. It plays well, and it sounds great. I had to tweak it a bit, though. It had a respectable amount of bow in the neck when I received it. I've torqued most of it out, but I have the truss rod tightened as far as I dare to. The action is still a bit high at the 12th fret, but I'll take care of that when I change out the strings. It sounds very chimey and bright with no bottom end at all, hopefully a beefier set of strings will help with that. Skinny frets, I wish they were a bit more robust. String spacing (between pairs) isn't consistent between the nut and the bridge, I may notch the bridge a bit to eliminate that. Otherwise, it's a beautifully built guitar and a great value for the price. You won't be disappointed.
I had a cheap 12 string guitar for about almost two years. I had been playing corridos during this time. However, I had played guitar for several years. Mainly rock and other stuff. Well, after I got it, I could play all the solos I couldn't really play clean. I guess the other guitar really was bad, or this one is great. Funny thing, I had a really good player tell me to not buy this model but the more expensive one. Well, I'm glad I decided to go with this one. This guitar sounds great and it's extremely easy to play. The guitar stays in tune fairly well for a 12 string guitar. The action is low. I haven't tried it the electronics aside from the tuner which works fairly well compared to my snark. I do have a Taylor and Martin guitar, and the tone on this guitar is pretty clean.Juan
This Guitar plays like a dream, sounds great no matter if it is plugged in or not, stays in tune and looks great. This is a great price for a guitar of this quality, but thanks to another dealers daily deal and Guitar Center's price matching, it was even better. I was able to get this out of layaway for $240 less. I am very happy with this guitar. I have not played in a band for a while, but getting back into practice and plan to start back with some solo acoustic gigs. The Takemine 6-String Legacy is an amazing guitar. It sounds beautiful with the chord plugged in or without an amp. Either way you’ll hear a Crisp sound. The tuner is one of my favorite things about it because you can tune it down half steps or more if you would like. Usually people use the app GuitarTuna but you can’t with that app. Anyways the color is gorgeous a glossy black finish. If you play just at home or preform with it, it matches any outfits you could wear. Overall, the 6-string Takemine Legacy is one guitar you won’t regret buying.
I started looking for a new acoustic guitar about 3 mos ago. It was time to step up from the one I had been playing. Everything kept pushing me back to the Takamine EF341SC. I had to first get over the hurdle of buying a Black Acoustic guitar. Wow, am I glad I did. Pictures do not do this guitar justice. And the sound is off the charts unplugged or plugged in. I have a 73 Gibson 335 ES TD I play too, but now I can’t put the Takamine down. I would highly recommend this guitar it’s a beautiful guitar, and plays and sounds incredible. Also, want to give a Big Shout Out To Adam. He was the salesman that helped me through this process and answered all the questions I had. Thank you Adam for your help. So glad I found this company they have been really good and this will be my go to for future Music Needs!!
Initially I was put off by the work required to set up the action on this guitar out of the box. I should mention that the only real work required was sanding the bottom of the bridge saddle to lower it. The nut was slotted perfect for low action out of the box. Now that I have done that and played the guitar for a while I can comment on the tone. This is a good sounding guitar unplugged, where it really shines is plugged in! The combination of wood, pickup, and pre-amp make this guitar sound fantastic through an amp. I now totally understand where it gets its high ratings. I have a wall of electric guitars waiting, this acoustic is hard to unplug, it really sounds that good. I have not played an acoustic electric that sounds as good as this Takamine EF341 plugged in, I am upgrading the rating. It's a keeper for sure.rosco

I bought this guitar about 7 years ago and haven't played anything that I like better. It tunes easy, plays good with very low strings, and holds tune for weeks. I play the crap out of it and rarely have to tune it with Elixir strings. I play two or three gigs a month and have only had trouble with the DSP electronics. They are great when it comes to features, but they shot themselves in the foot when they converted the 9 volt system to two AAs. They last about 6 hours and crap out (Energizer, Duracell, rechargeable, doesn't matter). Also, when using a Boss pedal tuner in line, the pedal tuner has trouble picking up the output and refuses to ever pick up the drop D tuning on the low E string. May be the guitar, may be the tuner. I also have the matching JJ signature 12 string that is an exact copy of the 6 string. I love this guitar as well. If you order it, don't order the DSP. You'll love the guitar, but hate the electronics.4x4Dually

I could not afford a Takamine Santa Fe model but I have 2 anyway. I love them both and the electronics are great sounding (Acoustic DSP AD-1). I do builds and repairs and have added a little to one of them that being turquoise I tumbled and polished then embedded around the soundhole. These are guitars you keep for your lifetime. I always advise players to leave a guitar in their stand so you will pick it up and play it a lot. Taylor guitar guys are crazy and leave them in cases in closets, that is no way to get better at playing and Taylors have thin tops that crack. Takamine (talk-uh-mee-nay) are built solid and worth every penny. NEVER leave weak batteries in the pre-amp and never leave them plugged in when not in use. Battery leaks will destroy the pre-amp.cravinbob
This guitar was set-up perfectly right out of the box. That has never happened before. I was fully expecting to have to do a little saddle and nut work, but nope. The action is perfect! Low and fast. The electronics are awesome. I play mainly through a PA system. Currently using a JBL PRX712 system through an Allen & Heath mixer through a TC Helicon VoiceLive3. The electronics allow you to tweak endlessly to achieve the sound you are looking for. Much more versatile than the Taylor Expression System (I have a Taylor 414CE). Unplugged, I give the edge to the Taylor…….plugged in….no comparison, the TSF48C kills it, and the action is better on the Takamine than the Taylor. I also have a Breedlove American C25/CRe-H fitted with the LR Baggs Anthem system. The Takamine provides much more control, and a more natural sound. There is nothing I can fault about this guitar. Small details of craftsmanship are evident everywhere. If you take the leap, I'm certain you will be happy. Thank you to the folks at Musicians Friend for a great purchase experience, too!JC
O.K. I have had the TSF48C for over six years now and I have no plans to depart from it. I play this Santa Fe mostly at Church for single songs on my Fender Acoustasonic Jr amp which sounds much better than the Church PA. The set-up remains low and smooth. Between this and my daily beater GJ72CE Tak I am set. The difference is that the Santa Fe is a milder tone and projection. The G body GJ72ce jumps out more and almost overrides the voice when playing alone, but in a group it holds it's own with anything out there.Dirt Dog

I bought this on a Stupid Deal Of The Day at an insane price. It is my second Takamine. I love how it feels in my hands. The neck is perfect for my fingers. It plays really well. It sounds great acoustically or amplified. It's a beautiful guitar. I love it. The only minor thing was the action was set a little high for my taste. That has been rectified. Musicians Friend does it again with their service as well.

I purchased this G90 series Takamine hoping it would approach the quality of the Takamine Pro Series Models. I had played several Pro Series Models and they were a little too expensive for me at this time. I was hoping the G90 series might come close. I was excited about the promotional savings Musician's Friend extended and decided to take a chance. The guitar arrived and I felt the finish was very nice. In checking the frets, I found many were not finished and had sharp edges. They were also "low frets" and although that might be okay in some instances, the high action would make playing harder for a beginer and tedious for a seasoned pro. The action could not be easily lowered as the internal pickup system was attached to the bridge and, would require a technician pro to cut down the bridge. I will add a positive…the neck was perfectly straight and required no adjustment. Musicians friend understood and, without question, accepted the return. I am pleased with their service and will deal with them again. Takamine has a good reputation and I feel, if you are a pro…stick with the pro-series. Anything less will be a disappointment.CJK

I typically play steel string acoustics. I wanted a quality nylon string guitar without the wide flat neck of a standard classical guitar. This is it. Extremely well made with quality woods (no laminates) that has a great sound (both amplified and unplugged). It does not have a large body and projection is somewhat limited when playing unplugged but has incredible sound both amplified and not amplified. Can be played quietly when everyone else has gone to sleep, or can flood the house with music if they're awake. The action and intonation on this guitar was fabulous right out of the box and I didn't have to make any setup adjustments. This is an awesome guitar and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nylon string acoustic.John

It was my first good guitar, but when I left for grad school, I kept only a Martin OO-18, and sold the Ovation. In the 30 years since, I have been trying to find a replacement, I tried various Ibanez and Yamaha guitars, but they didn't have what it took. Then, a couple of months ago, needing a brain break, I left work and took myself to the acoustic room at Sam Ash. There was another guy in there playing, so I looked for a quiet instrument, and took this one down off the wall. Immediately, I knew that it was special. The clarity of the tone, and the richness of the bass, it was all there. The other guy liked the sound too, and soon we were jamming and telling stories. Both of us tried other neoclassical guitars, and agreed that this one was best. I loved the guitar at first note, but when I looked at the price tag, I knew I could never own it. So I bought (online) a similar guitar, but it lacked the feel and sound of this one. My wife heard me playing, asked what I thought about the similar guitar I'd bought, and I explained that it wasn't the same. Then she told me to buy this one. So I did, And I have been playing it daily since then. The OO-18 is still with me and still gets some time, but right now my fingers itch to play and hear this one. Overall, I'd say that I'm very happy with the guitar. It plays well, and it sounds great. I had to tweak it a bit, though. It had a respectable amount of bow in the neck when I received it. I've torqued most of it out, but I have the truss rod tightened as far as I dare to. The action is still a bit high at the 12th fret, but I'll take care of that when I change out the strings. It sounds very chimey and bright with no bottom end at all, hopefully a beefier set of strings will help with that. Skinny frets, I wish they were a bit more robust. String spacing (between pairs) isn't consistent between the nut and the bridge, I may notch the bridge a bit to eliminate that. Otherwise, it's a beautifully built guitar and a great value for the price. You won't be disappointed.
I had a cheap 12 string guitar for about almost two years. I had been playing corridos during this time. However, I had played guitar for several years. Mainly rock and other stuff. Well, after I got it, I could play all the solos I couldn't really play clean. I guess the other guitar really was bad, or this one is great. Funny thing, I had a really good player tell me to not buy this model but the more expensive one. Well, I'm glad I decided to go with this one. This guitar sounds great and it's extremely easy to play. The guitar stays in tune fairly well for a 12 string guitar. The action is low. I haven't tried it the electronics aside from the tuner which works fairly well compared to my snark. I do have a Taylor and Martin guitar, and the tone on this guitar is pretty clean.Juan

This is a great price for a guitar of this quality, but thanks to another dealers daily deal and Guitar Center's price matching, it was even better. I was able to get this out of layaway for $240 less. I am very happy with this guitar. I have not played in a band for a while, but getting back into practice and plan to start back with some solo acoustic gigs. I recently played this guitar at a local music store. I'm a huge Eagles fan so as soon as I saw Glenn Frey's name on this guitar I had to try it out. It blew be away with the first chord I strummed. Amazing tone. I own a few acoustic guitars and I've played hundreds. This guitar sounds better than 99% of the acoustic guitars I've ever played. The tone is close to a Martin d-28 but with more clarity and bass response. This guitar would be great for flatpicking bluegrass. Just throw a SM57 in front of it and boom! Bluegrass cannon! Also a great finger picking guitar. Takamine has outdone themselves on this one. My next investment!
I own over 20 guitars, mostly electric. This Beautiful Takamine Glen Frey will replace my Gibson Songwriter . It has a better bottom end sound than the Gibson. I can't wait to try it out on stage. This guitar has crispy sound right out of the box, I enjoy using it, it's a really fun guitar to use. At gigs this guitar will not fail you, it has great sound acoustically and connected I have no issue with this guitar at all no imperfections whatsoever. before I brag on the EF341D , I want to brag on the staff at the las Vegas Sam Ash store. I purchased a Martin DC-13E Road series and decided the sound and quality was not to my liking. It had a strange resonation during strumming chords and plugged in to amp seemed worse. Maybe the type of wood it is made of or just me, and personnel likes. Anyway called the Sam Ash store and told them my dilemma, and honestly thought I would get the same Runa round I've gotten from other retail stores. I was wrong, I was treated with the utmost respect and understanding and exchanged the Martin for the EF341D without any Hassel whatsoever. The Senior Manager, Tony Giuffre was GREAT, he let me play every guitar hanging on the wall until I found the one I liked. Which turned out to be the Takamine EF341D. It sounds great through my old Fender Acoustasonic amp. I don't consider myself a professional guitarist , more like a hacker at best, but I perform at small venues and occasional wedding or Church service and Takamine makes me sound better than I am, and is a great quality instrument for my budget. So highest praise for Sam Ash, Tony Giuffre and Takamine. And please don't think I'm knocking Martin Guitars, I played on them many times and loved them, just didn't bond with the DC-13E this time .Anyway I would be hard pressed to go to any other music store ever again. This is a good looking guitar that sounds great. It has just what I was looking for. It's an acoustic electric, which is what I wanted in the first place. The pre amp has a three band equalizer, volume control, etc. Second, it's a cutaway which allows access to the higher frets. Third, as a bonus it has a built in tuner. I did a lot of internet research on mid priced acoustic electrics and this guitar was on nearly every list. It had a minor blemish — and I do mean minor, so I got for a great price including a wooden hard shell case. You could spend three times as much for a Martin or Taylor, but I don't think you would much more for the money. Takamine is not a well known company. That to me is a reflection of inadequate promotion and advertising and not a reflection of the quality of the instrument. I would definitely recommend it.edwardsfynegoods
Let me start by saying FedEx lost my guitar. I filed a claim with them and let AMS know of the problem. AMS contacted FedEx as well. AMS advised they would replace the guitar but after 2 weeks my guitar mysteriously showed up. I cancelled the replacement order. AMS customer service is exemplary and I will order again. Thanks guys! Now about the guitar this is a beautiful instrument. I'm a Martin owner and this guitar nicely compliments my HD28V. Whether plugged in or unplugged the sound is awesome. This guitar doesn't have that Takamine tin sound that seems common with this brand. Playability compares to higher dollar guitars. The neck is smooth and easy to play. I've gotten several compliments on the looks of this guitar. No matter what level experience you have you won't be disappointed with this guitar!Tom

I have always thought that the best low end guitars on the market, the most guitar for the dollar, etc. are Takemine's. This GD30 is a prime example of that. The quality in finish, tone and the playability are typical of an instrument one would pay a lot more for in other brands. On the guitar, it feels and plays very high end. Upgrading from a budget beginner the difference is night and day. Very low action makes this easy to play. Solid top, D'Addario strings, built in tuner. Wow, I am beyond impressed. Worth every penny. On Walmart online, again awesome. This guitar was flawless and they actually sent the guitar foam wrapped in the hard case within a thick cardboard box. The gn30ce uses takamine's most famous body design – the nex – to create an affordable guitar that is big on sound and low on price. this body size is a little bit smaller than a standard jumbo size but retains much of the big sound that jumbos are noted for. this is ideal because the guitar itself is a good deal more comfortable to get to grips with and is more 'lap-friendly' than a jumbo! sonically, the body size works with the solid spruce top and laminated mahogany to produce a strong, balanced sound with a bright response that records exceptionally well and suits strumming techniques in particular. there is a cutaway on the lower bout to facilitate upper fret access. the black finish has some nicely contrasting black and white binding around it to finish things neatly.takamine's own design tp-4t preamp and pickup system is fitted to ensure live performances sound professional and inspiring. this guitar is a handsome and affordable choice for players looking for a good songwriting machine with a balanced, resonant tone that will just keep on improving the more you play it.

I have always thought that the best low end guitars on the market, the most guitar for the dollar, etc. are Takemine's. This GD30 is a prime example of that. The quality in finish, tone and the playability are typical of an instrument one would pay a lot more for in other brands. On the guitar, it feels and plays very high end. Upgrading from a budget beginner the difference is night and day. Very low action makes this easy to play. Solid top, D'Addario strings, built in tuner. Wow, I am beyond impressed. Worth every penny. On Walmart online, again awesome.
