I have always thought that the best low end guitars on the market, the most guitar for the dollar, etc. are Takemine's. This GD30 is a prime example of that. The quality in finish, tone and the playability are typical of an instrument one would pay a lot more for in other brands. Overall, I'd say that I'm very happy with the guitar. It plays well, and it sounds great. I had to tweak it a bit, though. It had a respectable amount of bow in the neck when I received it. I've torqued most of it out, but I have the truss rod tightened as far as I dare to. The action is still a bit high at the 12th fret, but I'll take care of that when I change out the strings. It sounds very chimey and bright with no bottom end at all, hopefully a beefier set of strings will help with that. Skinny frets, I wish they were a bit more robust. String spacing (between pairs) isn't consistent between the nut and the bridge, I may notch the bridge a bit to eliminate that. Otherwise, it's a beautifully built guitar and a great value for the price. You won't be disappointed.
I had a cheap 12 string guitar for about almost two years. I had been playing corridos during this time. However, I had played guitar for several years. Mainly rock and other stuff. Well, after I got it, I could play all the solos I couldn't really play clean. I guess the other guitar really was bad, or this one is great. Funny thing, I had a really good player tell me to not buy this model but the more expensive one. Well, I'm glad I decided to go with this one. This guitar sounds great and it's extremely easy to play. The guitar stays in tune fairly well for a 12 string guitar. The action is low. I haven't tried it the electronics aside from the tuner which works fairly well compared to my snark. I do have a Taylor and Martin guitar, and the tone on this guitar is pretty clean.Juan
This Guitar plays like a dream, sounds great no matter if it is plugged in or not, stays in tune and looks great. This is a great price for a guitar of this quality, but thanks to another dealers daily deal and Guitar Center's price matching, it was even better. I was able to get this out of layaway for $240 less. I am very happy with this guitar. I have not played in a band for a while, but getting back into practice and plan to start back with some solo acoustic gigs. Having this awesome new guitar is surely an inspiration to help me want to practice more.Kip

This is a beautiful takamine 12 string ef381sc. this is an older model, thus having faded lighter colors in the binding. never the less, the guitar is in excellent condition. the sound is incredible and will bring harmonious sound to any chord played. the electronics are great and are in full working condition. takamine decal has been added to the pick guard for previous desired customization. new elixir nanoweb strings have been put on this guitar. these string play smoothly and give clear and vibrant sounds. gave the guitar a nice polish and cleaning, shines so bright now! case will be included.

I’ve owned a EF381SC-LH since the early 90s. My being left handed had a lot to do with my decision to purchase it, as up to that point it was the only 12 string I’d ever seen in person, never mind Getting to play one. I was able to tune it by ear and it plays as easily as an electric guitar, so buying it was a no brainer. But over the years I’ve come to appreciated it more for it’s acoustic and amplified tone. It sounds great plugged into my guitar amp, it doesn’t need to go through a PA. It takes the dry New England fall/winter less than 20% humidity while never protruding a fret or needing a truss rod adjustment. I do use two Dampits less than diligently. This 12 string Is one of the best values in the guitar universe, if you have ever wanted one this is the one to get.Stan
I use this guitar as a requinto. (Mexican Guitar) It's just beautiful. I'm at a loss of words with this one the beautiful Gloss Black Finish and the mahogany Takamine logo and Fret markers are just flawless. This guitar was sold as "blemished." I haven't found any blemishes on the guitar. When it arrived it still had the plastic scratch guard on the pickguard, and the strings were still stretching the way brand new strings do. I tried the lower range Takamine 12 string, the GD 30CE, and wasn't happy with the feel of the the neck, string height, or the over all sound of the guitar. So I ordered this one. I know this range of Takamine guitars well because I own an EF 341SC. So far, this guitar has delighted me at every turn. I've not yet played the guitar through a PA system, but plugged into a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface and recording it sounds great: well balanced and rich. The same if not better recording off of a live mic. The neck feels good, the string height is perfect.Ron

The Takemine 6-String Legacy is an amazing guitar. It sounds beautiful with the chord plugged in or without an amp. Either way you’ll hear a Crisp sound. The tuner is one of my favorite things about it because you can tune it down half steps or more if you would like. Usually people use the app GuitarTuna but you can’t with that app. Anyways the color is gorgeous a glossy black finish. If you play just at home or preform with it, it matches any outfits you could wear. Overall, the 6-string Takemine Legacy is one guitar you won’t regret buying.
I started looking for a new acoustic guitar about 3 mos ago. It was time to step up from the one I had been playing. Everything kept pushing me back to the Takamine EF341SC. I had to first get over the hurdle of buying a Black Acoustic guitar. Wow, am I glad I did. Pictures do not do this guitar justice. And the sound is off the charts unplugged or plugged in. I have a 73 Gibson 335 ES TD I play too, but now I can’t put the Takamine down. I would highly recommend this guitar it’s a beautiful guitar, and plays and sounds incredible. Also, want to give a Big Shout Out To Adam. He was the salesman that helped me through this process and answered all the questions I had. Thank you Adam for your help. Initially I was put off by the work required to set up the action on this guitar out of the box. I should mention that the only real work required was sanding the bottom of the bridge saddle to lower it. The nut was slotted perfect for low action out of the box. Now that I have done that and played the guitar for a while I can comment on the tone. This is a good sounding guitar unplugged, where it really shines is plugged in! The combination of wood, pickup, and pre-amp make this guitar sound fantastic through an amp. I now totally understand where it gets its high ratings. I have a wall of electric guitars waiting, this acoustic is hard to unplug, it really sounds that good. I have not played an acoustic electric that sounds as good as this Takamine EF341 plugged in, I am upgrading the rating. It's a keeper for sure.rosco

This guitar has crispy sound right out of the box, I enjoy using it, it's a really fun guitar to use. At gigs this guitar will not fail you, it has great sound acoustically and connected I have no issue with this guitar at all no imperfections whatsoever. before I brag on the EF341D , I want to brag on the staff at the las Vegas Sam Ash store. I purchased a Martin DC-13E Road series and decided the sound and quality was not to my liking. It had a strange resonation during strumming chords and plugged in to amp seemed worse. Maybe the type of wood it is made of or just me, and personnel likes. Anyway called the Sam Ash store and told them my dilemma, and honestly thought I would get the same Runa round I've gotten from other retail stores. I was wrong, I was treated with the utmost respect and understanding and exchanged the Martin for the EF341D without any Hassel whatsoever. The Senior Manager, Tony Giuffre was GREAT, he let me play every guitar hanging on the wall until I found the one I liked. Which turned out to be the Takamine EF341D. It sounds great through my old Fender Acoustasonic amp. I don't consider myself a professional guitarist , more like a hacker at best, but I perform at small venues and occasional wedding or Church service and Takamine makes me sound better than I am, and is a great quality instrument for my budget. So highest praise for Sam Ash, Tony Giuffre and Takamine. And please don't think I'm knocking Martin Guitars, I played on them many times and loved them, just didn't bond with the DC-13E this time .Anyway I would be hard pressed to go to any other music store ever again. I have only been playing guitar for about a year and a half. I have had this guitar for 9 months. I think the sound is very full and rich. It does have a small amount of fret buzz. I am a small woman, so the size is a little large and cumbersome. I like it overall. I have a smaller guitar now but the sound is not as good as this one. A friend who also plays was impressed with the sound of it also.Allie
Earlier today, UPS dropped off my Tak GD30NAT, deluxe dreadnought guitar case, and three sets of extra D'Addario strings. All are in perfect order and condition. And just like the other review, it was ready to play right out of the box. I need to do a wee bit of tuning, but I expected that. What sold me on this guitar was that it was a Tak, the price was an absolute steal for the superb quality and sound (someone at Guitar Center was asleep at the wheel on this one, but don't tell anyone), and a couple reviews on YouTube. Go get yours before that person wakes up. Come on, go. They won't last at this price.Don

I bought this guitar about 7 years ago and haven't played anything that I like better. It tunes easy, plays good with very low strings, and holds tune for weeks. I play the crap out of it and rarely have to tune it with Elixir strings. I play two or three gigs a month and have only had trouble with the DSP electronics. They are great when it comes to features, but they shot themselves in the foot when they converted the 9 volt system to two AAs. They last about 6 hours and crap out (Energizer, Duracell, rechargeable, doesn't matter). Also, when using a Boss pedal tuner in line, the pedal tuner has trouble picking up the output and refuses to ever pick up the drop D tuning on the low E string. May be the guitar, may be the tuner. I also have the matching JJ signature 12 string that is an exact copy of the 6 string. I love this guitar as well. If you order it, don't order the DSP. You'll love the guitar, but hate the electronics.4x4Dually

When I'm sitting at home, my go to guitar is my Martin 000-28. If that guitar is not in my hands then I have my gn75ce in my lap. This guitar was playable and set up well right out of the box. Good enough that it's not worth the money to take to luthier to have it dialed in. I don't use the electronics on this guitar so I can't comment on that. As far as everything else , this is a well-constructed durable mid-range priced guitar. I'm quite pleased that I purchased it. it makes a wonderful addition my collection. It's a beautiful looking axe. I would highly recommend this guitar to anybody just starting to learn how to play or somebody wanting to add to their collection without spending thousands of dollars.Matthew Topp

Extremely well made with quality woods (no laminates) that has a great sound (both amplified and unplugged). It does not have a large body and projection is somewhat limited when playing unplugged but has incredible sound both amplified and not amplified. Can be played quietly when everyone else has gone to sleep, or can flood the house with music if they're awake. The action and intonation on this guitar was fabulous right out of the box and I didn't have to make any setup adjustments. This is an awesome guitar and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nylon string acoustic.John

It was my first good guitar, but when I left for grad school, I kept only a Martin OO-18, and sold the Ovation. In the 30 years since, I have been trying to find a replacement, I tried various Ibanez and Yamaha guitars, but they didn't have what it took. Then, a couple of months ago, needing a brain break, I left work and took myself to the acoustic room at Sam Ash. There was another guy in there playing, so I looked for a quiet instrument, and took this one down off the wall. Immediately, I knew that it was special. The clarity of the tone, and the richness of the bass, it was all there. The other guy liked the sound too, and soon we were jamming and telling stories. Both of us tried other neoclassical guitars, and agreed that this one was best. I loved the guitar at first note, but when I looked at the price tag, I knew I could never own it. So I bought (online) a similar guitar, but it lacked the feel and sound of this one. My wife heard me playing, asked what I thought about the similar guitar I'd bought, and I explained that it wasn't the same. Then she told me to buy this one. So I did, And I have been playing it daily since then. The OO-18 is still with me and still gets some time, but right now my fingers itch to play and hear this one. La chitarra è arrivata in stato impeccabile, è molto bella, però le corde montate sembrano vecchissime e con corrosione, e inoltre montate in modo non professionale. difficile pensare che la ditta fa uscire una chitarra in questo stato. per cui riguardo suono non posso ancora dire tanto, la prima impressione del suono comunque è buona. dopo un setup riguardo curvatura manico, altezza brigde e corde nuove sarà un ottimo strumento.
