Overall: Acoustic Basses are quiet when unplugged and this one is no exception. However, it is loud enough for practice in the living room and maybe with an acoustic guitarist playing softer. The tone unplugged is above average, very woody with some brightness.BUT this thing absolutely shines when plugged in. I was blown away at the crisp tones and ballsy lows I was hearing. I usually play a Fender 5-String American Standard Jazz so I’m used to lots of sizzle and growl. I am beyond happy to add this acoustic bass to my lineup. The Fishman Presys+ is amazing. You have so much control over your time and can almost get anything you want out of it. The notch and phase features are especially useful for maintaining clarity and tone at high volume and eliminating feedback and distortion. The fit and finish of this bass is exceptional at the price point. It’s like a piece of artwork and even more beautiful in person. Definitely gets bonus points for style.I’m giving this bass and bass alone 5 stars but I must also say this. If you get a case with it, pony up the cash for the hard shell. I got the gig bag and the quality is questionable. It arrived with a small tear and some frayed stitching. It will be adequate for protection for now but I may upgrade to the hard shell eventually. My only complaint is with FedEx, they delivered a day late and at 10pm. they did not walk it up tp the door they left it in the middle of a driveway I share with a neighbor and left with no notification. I just happened to hear their door slam. I opened the front door as they left. I walked out to the driveway and stepped on the package because it was so dark. I just recently purchased this Schecter Silver Mountain 5 string Bass in Toxic Venom Green, and I must say this is truly a outstanding bass Guitar. I have been saying it for a long time, but Schecter is simply a must for the modern guitarist. I would like for someone to show me a Bass with as many professional and luxury features packed onto it for under $1500. Ebony Neck, Stainless Fret Wire, Set neck, String through/Top load bridge, Grover Tuners, Luminlay Glowing Fret markers, and a beautiful paint job. I mean seriously a Fender or Gibson of this build quality will run you over $2000 easy. That's before you even start talking about the fishman fluence soapbar pickups that come on this guitar. The pickups have three different voicing options Modern, Funk, and Classic. You have full EQ over the active pickups as well as a blend knob to mix the bridge and neck pickup to find the right tone. On top of that you can push and pull the Volume knob to give the pickups a split coil mode which gives you even more tone options. This is a perfect guitar for recording or covering songs, as there are endless tones you can achieve with these kinds of pickups. One thing I do wish is that a guitar that is over $1000 should come with at least a cheap guitar case or bag for protection, especially with fully painted guitar. That being said, I am in no way dissatisfied with the value this guitar provides for the price. This is my second Schecter guitar, I own a Schecter Omen Extreme 6 as well, and it will not be my last. I am a die hard Schecter customer now that I have gotten to own a few, very solid guitars for all level of players.Corey

Simply put, this bass is a lot of bang for your buck. Whether your plugging it in or just noodling around with friends the clarity of each note fills the area around you. The upgraded presys plus system is incredibly versatile and extremely user friendly when trying to dial in any tone. Great looking 5 string acoustic bass. Setup was playable out of the box, no truss rod adjustment needed. Only thing that I feel is definitely needed is upgraded tuning keys as there is too much play in the stock ones. I replaced with Gotoh GB707 which are much sturdier and 20:1 ratio which is much improved. Stock holes need a tiny sanding out to accommodate these tuners but only takes a couple minutes and then an easy drop-in replacement. Since I am playing primarily through an amp, I inserted one of those rubber feedback eliminator discs in the soundhole and changed strings to La Bella white tape wound to eliminated lots of finger noise when amplified. Now plays great, maintains tune and sounds wonderful. With a little tweaking this bass is a welcome addition to my gear.JL

I loved the look of an open pore body and I had researched Michael Kelly basses and took a chance. This is a good bass and when in active mode it has a lot of volume. This is the ONLY bass out of 20 in my collection that came without a nine volt battery and out of the box did not work as a result. The tone is extremely flat and the active EQ does not really add or take away hi or low end in a noticeable fashion. There is no pick guard and the hardware is a little on the "cheap" looking side. Two of the four knobs were not turning correctly and had to be taken off and re-set . I have since bought the Michael Kelly Element 4 vintage bass and it is night and day better than the open pore. This is a "good" bass and looks nice in my collection. I have basses that cost less and sound better.
Wasn't even planning on getting this bass but went to the store and the Sterlings and Squires couldn't even come close. Really surprising find and happy I got it! It really made the squire and sterling feel like toys. There are a few blemishes but the construction is spot on and has a really tight neck pocket. Only downside I'd say is that the finish is kinda cheesy up close (I don't think it's wood grain looks way more like a dip to me) and the head stock decal could use a redesign but besides that it's great!A Badger
