Not only does this 5 watt lil' monster have enough power to rattle the windows, it also has class! At only 9 lbs. the Bugera T5 Infinium has enough "UMFF" to push your favorite 4X12" cabinet into the stratosphere! It's better having this reverb built into this lil' madman than not having any at all. Just like 9/10 of the other amp heads in its class. The 1 channel, "all tube" head has warm cleans. Push in the PHAT switch and crank the volume and gain and you get saturated distortion that will blow you away! All of that in a 9 lb metal cage like package for only $200! What it's not: Not a $1k boutique tube amp. Not a mid-size club amp (unless you have great monitors and a good sound guy). What it is: A well designed, very affordable little monster that will give enough stage volume at 5W for rehearsals in a full rock band or small club, and will also allow you to drive the output stage at that 1W or 1/2W setting for recording at home. The amp sounds best at 5W and driven into either a 4ohm cabinet or two 8ohm cabs. If you use it to drive an 8ohm cab, you are getting only 70% of its potential. I only use el84 based amps. i love their dark, throaty sound, and while this amp doesn't have the punch or snap I get from my 15W custom built el 84 amps, it sounds great for rehearsal or recording. I am a little bit worried about long-term build quality. The input jack is plastic. I have a hard time seeing that surviving a year of rehearsals without breaking. This is a great supplemental amp for rehearsals and recording. Very smartly designed. Good feature set. And if you like the el84 style sound, it delivers it above expectations at this price range. In these days of small solid state, practice amps, this little amp gives you tube tone and more at a very affordable price. A 12ax7 preamp tube and an EL84 power tube provide the tone along with built in reverb, 2 band EQ, gain and a "phat" overdrive switch for added crunch. The three stage attenuator is a nice touch. The stock Bugera tubes are OK but I switched them out with Tung-Sols which provided a rich creamy overdrive more to my liking. Great sound when plugged into my Orange 8" or 12" cab plus headphone jack for late night playing. Great amp for the price!Isom

With C19 I was looking for a good home tube amp and the Revv D20 way exceeded my expectations. The sound is terrific. Works well with my hx effects + pedal board. Attenuates onboard from 20w to 4w. And when I need to be quiet (headphones) or just want to pull tones into my DAW, the Two Notes torpedo is really good. I'm really glad I bought this Amp.Ira

Great sounding amp and the built in two notes cab sim is great. Great metal tones but you’ll need an overdrive pedal to really get the most out of it. Clean tones are gorgeous. MIDI is simple to use to change the channel and various other parameters too. What a fantastic amplifier this is. Worth every penny. The High and Low power settings both give different sounds and are equally usable. For more gain I use a Korg Nu:Tekt Over Drive pedal, they go very well together. I use beyerdynamic DT770 Pro headphones with the cab sim output every day! Have not stopped playing this amp since it arrived and I would say to anyone looking for an amplifier like this that if they are in a position to do so, then buy it without hesitation. My Shergold guitar and my Gordon Smith guitar go so well with this amp- both guitars have Humbucker pick ups and definitely give me the kind of tone that I have been looking for since I first heard JoyDivision more than 40 years ago. The amp works well with my Gibson ES330 guitar too which has P90 pick ups and is sort of an upmarket Casino. If anyone knows the sounds of Bernard Sumner with both the Shergold Masquerader and the ES330 then this amp sounds a lot like his setup without the punishing volume of his Vox. I have also been able to get the Neil Young Cortez the Killer tone pretty convincingly too. No regret at all in buying this amplifier and if it breaks would buy another without hesitation. overall I really like this amp. the dirty channel has a good crunch. Not a very tainted sound, which I like a lot. Clean channel is not real chimy like some, but nice and clean. the face plate is also black, unlike the 30 watt which is easier to see. The issue is the channel switching. While some amps are known for a load pop, this is quite the opposite, and I am guessing the pop is what they were trying to avoid. this one actually drops in volume and then comes back up between channels. Deal breaker. I can't use this live if it cuts out. Really wanted to have this kicking around for a second amp. But I will be returning this.brian

First one arrived and the overdrive channel sounded awful. Made arrangements to return it and the process went quick, I had a new one a week after sending the bad one back. The second one turned out as advertised. You can dial in a wide range of tones and has that beautiful tube sound. The reverb is just a tad weak but still ok. Also, effects pedals sound great. I had a 50 watt 6L6 guitar head and sold it only to regret it later. I saw this one on sale and I took a chance. Glad I did. Disclaimer: I only use it for a pedal platform, although I have tried the gain channel. It's "ok" (not great) but to use the amp that way you'll really have to work with the both channels to achieve unity volume. As a clean channel pedal platform it's great. Like others have said the reverb is lacking but I usually just leave it on 10:00 for ambience. This amp is LOUD and can easily hang with a large band if needed. As far as reliability, time will tell, but it seems well made IMO.john

The Hotone Freeze B is good on replicating the "Friedman" amp on a cheap budget for musicians to experiment on different tones. Better on budget than paying near $4000 or it's mini head amp $300. Over all, it's good to have to use and switch other head mini amps instead of owning the real deal. Way too much $. I'm primarily a bass player but also play guitar. All of my guitar amps are low wattage tube amps from under 1 watt up to 15 watts. I got into the Nano amps as they had some abilities I wanted such as effects loops, headphone outs, aux in and ability to run on batteries. Yes. These come with 19v power supplies. I tried them with a standard 9v supply and while there was a reduction in clean headroom, I actually found the overdrive/distortion tones more natural. After establishing that they worked at lower voltages, I made a 9.6 battery pack using Eneloops. This way, I can use it in bed (or anywhere) into headphones. It'll power a speaker cab but I use the power supply for that unless I want to play outside. This is my 4th and final amp from the Nano series. My 1st and favorite remains the Mojo Diamond for its Fender tones. It even sounds great with bass. I actually prefer it to my Thunder Bass. If you're only going to get one, that would get my vote. Then use pedals for other tones. I also have the British Invasion for the VOX tones. I wanted to round things out with something like a Marshall. The Purple Wind seemed the obvious choice but I wanted something a little different. This is supposed to sound like a Friedman which is Marshall-like. It's got a nice bite. It also has a nice clean tone with the gain turned down. Due to the higher gain, this is noisier than the others as expected when not touching strings or bridge. I wish they sold these and the power supply separately. Seems silly to buy 4 power supplies when I only need 1. To be honest, at full price, I would have passed but Sam Ash has these at a great price I could not refuse.Steven

This is an amazing amp. It sounds just like an Engl & the eq section really boost or cuts the freqs. For it only being 5 watts I was really surprised with the power & tone. It sounds as good as a 50 watt amp &this little thing can be used for shows running directly to the mixing console especially with an in ear monitor system. I picked this up to use predominantly as a low wattage gigging head. I've since found myself using it for almost everything. PRS doesn't load a bunch of features into this amp. It is simply a guitar amp which is why it's as good as it is. This is a two channel footswitchable (included) amp. It has no effects or reverb. The clean channel is one of the best and most usable clean channels I have played on. It has its on eq and a treble boost. It would probably make a great pedal platform but I prefer to use it simply as a clean. The dirty channel can deliver anything you ask it to from classic 70's to modern metal. It has more gain available than anyone probably needs. If you know how to use the volume knob on your guitar you will find this amp to be very responsive. I keep the gain at about 10 o'clock and dual in what I need with the volume knob on my guitar. Both channels play extremely well with pedals. I've had the best results using the effects loop for time based and modulation type effects. Frequency and drive work great through the front end. I waited to review this until I got some rehearsals and gigs under its wings. This thing is built like a tank and travels quite well. For rehearsals I run it through a 4/12 with equipped with Celestion 70/80s. It's more than loud enough to get over a live drummer. It sounds louder than a 50 watt head I was using for rehearsals. Live I run it through a 2/12 and mic the cabinet with a 57. It sounds great and is very consistent. It's convenient size, durability, and overall sound have resulted in it becoming the first head I reach for in almost every situation now. This is a really great practical amp for any performing guitarist.Michael

Not a bedroom playing amp. Crazy loud! Huge gain! Sounds like a beast. More like 50 watts. At low levels it's sounds poor. But turned up it can't be played in a bedroom. Had the cops called twice on me and I live in a house with decent amount of space between the homes. Best metal amp out.Todd

Sound: This is the best amp I’ve played for most styles. Features: I’d like reverb but does it have to have it? Nope. Ease of Use: It started off with a great sound! Quality: Amazing quality! To put it through its paces I used a tiny micro terror and a Mesa Boogie 2×12 cabinet. Using a Richie Kotzen tele and an EMG-loaded Les Paul Custom, I tried many different styles.I started off with the eq at noon and at half-power. The first thing was that this amp throws a lot of low-end. But it is not unusable in any way. It is just full. The only way to really experience this is by playing is I guess.The boost also worked amazingly. I do wish that is is footswitch-controlled because it throws a lot more gain.Then there is the lead channel. After experiencing the clean volume, I started with volume off and gradually brought it in. The highest I could get it without causing pain was 9:00. This amp is loud as hell! The lead sounded every bit as good as my Mesa Tremoverb and Road King , so I wasn’t missing anything in the gain department. Reverb would have been great, but I have pedals I guess.At the end of the day, this is the happiest I’ve ever been with an amplifier. I look forward to years of incredible sounds in a small package. I recently bought a Fender Blues Jr NOS and was quite happy, good natural clean and grind. Takes both pedals and my X3 Live outboard gear very well, but I was hoping for an amp that had the clean and the hard rock tones without needing to schlep a distortion pedal or my X3 Live. I bought an HT-5R used at MF's sister company hoping it would meet my needs. First, the HT-5R can be very loud. It also has a decent clean, pure for my EMG 60 and a nice blues edge with my EMG 85. The test of any amp is how it handles the hard rock or metal tones tho and the HT-5R falls sort of short… until you add the required Decimator G String Noise Reduction and BBE Sonic Max thru the effects loop. Those two outboards save this amp without running pedalboard effects. Just know, the BBE and G String are not needed nor are they compatible with the X3 Live, the thing buzzes like crazy when I run the X3L thru it with the BBE and G String. The X3 Live sounds great without them tho. I don't have any other modeling/multi-effects systems so I do not know if the Boss ME-70 or similar items are compatible with the BBE or Decimator thru the HT-5R effects loop. I also tried hooking up my Haze 112 straight cab as an external along with the internal speaker, sounds very fine. These two brands of speakers probably play better together than the two companies. Bottom line… I can run this amp without a distortion pedal on the clean channel unless I want crunch (I do). The OD channel doesn't need a distortion pedal but only sounds real when I use BBE and Decimator. I can also use the X3 Live. Both setups can produce awesome results. By itself? Not so much… but I'm still keeping mine for grab and go and gigs with small stages, but I'm keeping my Fender Blues Jr NOS too for when I'm willing to bring my pedal board or X3 Live along.Travisty7

Kind of puzzled by the negative reviews of this bad boy but to each his (or her) own I guess. The Blackstar HT-5R to me is a fantastic little amp. It is solidly built and delivers tube warmth & punch that digital amps can't touch. It's simple layout allows for a versatile array of quality tones without slamming the user with option overload. There are lot of well-thought out features one doesn't usually find on affordable small tube amps such as the excellent emulated output and an FX loop. The clean channel is very serviceable. It's not a mind-blowing Fendery clean but it is very clear and is very responsive to difference guitars and pickups. If you are a country guy, don't bother. If you like gain, keep reading. The star here is the Overdrive channel. There is lots of gain on tap, plenty for most rockers and classic metallers. The tone is a little more rock than pure metal – the palm mutes are reasonably chunky but you won't get Pantera chug without a boost pedal. This is true for most high gain tube amps though, that's why so many bands and producers rely on Tubescreamers to tighten things up. I get a killer warm tone straight onto the amp at any gain level. After setting the gain anywhere above 5 and flicking on my TS-9 (set to zero gain and a just a slight level boost), this thing turns into a fire-breathing crunch machine! Tasty metal riffs abound. The HT-5R is highly recommended for anyone looking for a punchy, rockin' amp for home use or in the studio.Juice Maloose

This amp is a little gem. It pretty much covers all angles from Bedroom practice to Studio, Rehearsal and Live Gigging. With many sound setups in venues using monitored sound systems the requirement for loud backline Amps is a thing of the past and gigging with one means basically not being able to play it at any volume above number 2. A small , but powerful amp with both the monitoring capability and the Emulated MIC capability to go straight into a Desk means that you can have the best of both worlds if needed. You can play it on stage a reasonable volume or you can play through the monitoring if needed. The channel switch and Cab / Speaker options mean you can setup the whole for bigger things if you want to carry the Cabs about with the option to plug in extension speakers galore. The Reverb is smooth, Roomy to Arena and the ISF gives you tonal variation that allows great contrast. If you want a negative… well the sockets on the back are all hidden under the edge of the back panel making them hard to find in the Dark and the foot switch cant be dropped into the back of the Amp for storage…but thats about it! small price to pay for a great piece of Kit.daveperrym2

First of all, this came shipped with 5 levels of protection (Andertons box, insulation, Peavey warehouse box, invective box, insulation). Therefore it could have survived an explosion, thumbs up to Andertons! That said, this head is simply wonderful. Materials and construction are high standard and looks are clean and aggressive. No Christmas-style-ubiquitous LEDs, but a slight blue glow which blends with red valves and white panels. Speaking about the sound, this has a slightly high bass output at standard settings and could be tweaked a little. When correctly matched with pickups output and cabinet it produces a marvelous clean sound, very dynamic and warm. Lead channel is simply astonishing: gain is dense and controlled, tight and boost functions work well together and give high gain leads and well articulated notes as well. The noise gate is a nice touch. I will explore the various functions (recording via usb directly from the invective, and so on) over time, but I’m very satisfied overall. Volume output is huge and for room plays I set it under the first point of the scale…but i get high dynamics as well! This is seriously one of the best heads available for metal and progressive, with djenty touches and experimental features (same sounds as the Invective.120, but with a more “socially acceptable” volume output). This amplifier is amazing for metal players. The inclusion of a very-effective noise gate makes this head completely perfect for live and recording situations. I have always used the Boss NS2 in front of all my amps, but the noise gate in this head works easily as well. If you have quick stop/start songs, this thing will track. The distortion channel on this head is the 5150/6505, so you will get the legendary 5150/6505 sound. The clean channel is a TON better than the 5150/6505, however. The cleans are creamy and not brittle at all. You will really enjoy all channels on this amp, as the cleans blow the 5150/6505 away. There are two effects loops that work independently, or in concert. If you use a lot of effects, this head is destined to be your favorite. I am not a big effects user, so it doesn't mean a lot to me, but the loops are clean, independent, and controllable via the foot switch. I can say, without hesitation, that this head is the best Peavey has ever made. Full stop.TheTerrorBeyond

Overall: The Peavey Invective 120 is the best sounding high gain amp I have EVER played…and after 22 years I've tried many. A big thanks to Misha Mansoor and Peavey as well as zZounds. The lineage is apparent in this amp. What else is apparent is the time and energy Misha and Peavey put into refining this product. The lead channel…oh the lead channel. Downright sinister. Modern aggression that is completely unrivaled. The Invective puts all other high gain amps in their place. It's simply meaner, more modern and has more harmonic content and responsiveness through the entire frequency range than other amps. Lead and Rhythm channels sit excellently in even the most dense mix. Bear in mind im hitting my favorite parts of this amp…it can so much more than metal. And the clean channel is absolutely beautiful. Lots of clarity and fatness. Two things that can often be hard to achieve on a clean channel. The gate…perfection. The boosts (technically there are 3 different kinds)…perfection. And with the dual effects loops and 9v power on the back panel as well as the a foot switch that really does do it all. The Invective is the all in one solution…its so beautifully engineered. Plug your effects in the loop(s). Done deal. And it's midi controlled. So streamlined. And the best part…the Invective sound is MASSIVE. This is the new benchmark in high gain. Period.Keola

I’ve been using the same solid state mg30cfx since I started playing. I purchased this along with the Marshall 1×12 speaker cabinet. This amp makes playing so much more enjoyable and I’ve finally found the tones I’ve been missing over the years. It’s great for in the house at the .1 watt setting. At full 1 watt it definitely makes my neighbors hate me. The foot switch and effects loop is definitely a plus for me. I’d recommend it to anybodyTim

I bought this amp as a practice amp to keep in a house that I'm remodeling. I'm running through an old early 2000's marshall MG 4 x 12 cab that I had laying around. I love the high gain channel…its got that great marshall dirt from the 80's type sound. The normal channels can get you that ZZ Top type of blues overdrive if that's what your after. I'm not crazy about the clean sounds, but nobody really buys a marshall for cleans anyways. The digital reverb is pretty decent as well. It's really nice to have the effects loop as well. This amp is based on the circuit of the Soldano Hot Rod 100+ head, with the depth mod included. Designed by the man himself for asian manufacture at a third of the price means boutique level tone at a working man's price. The strength of this amp is just flat out, pure honest tone. The Soldano circuit design is just fantastic, sounding immense and lively while keeping phenomenal clarity and harmonic complexity in crunch and high gain settings. Clean tones are fine, but it won't win awards. This amp really wants to roar, and boy does it deliver when you let it loose. Cons? It's a simple amp built on an 80s design, more about pure sound than features. You won't get USB, emulated recording outs, or even independent channel EQ. In that way, it is a real step into the past. It's important to be aware that these amps ship with fairly poor quality generic tubes. Replace them with common tubes of your personal preference, and the amp comes to life.Promit

I'm a studio and perfoming musician. I need reliable gear that sounds great. First of all, the tone is superb. To be completely honest, it doesn't quite get a metal tone without a boost. It gets a very hard rock tone, or maybe classic metal, but for modern music, really any overdrive will do. I've used cheap boosts and that really brings out a lot in this thing. It's pretty darn loud, but with the 50/100 watt swtich, it is easily capable of bedroom volumes. I also like to use an EQ in the effects loop with this thing as well. This amp needs a few things, but as a starting point, you really couldn't get much better for the money. The crunch channel is also nice, you put the gain on 1-2 and you have a really nice clean tone! Its a GREAT head.Djosh_Guitar

I picked up an open box version of this amp, and what drew me to Jet City was the relationship top Soldano. I was not disappointed. The overdrive channel is phenomenal. I also have a Laney Ironheart 60H and a Marshall DSL100HR. The Marshall gives me this nice British sounds of an EL34 amp, and I thought the Laney was a great metal amp until I played the Jet City. Wow is about all I can say. The warmth, the gain, and the power far exceeded my expectations. Don't get me wrong, this thing will do rock, blues, hillbilly, you name it (sorry country fans/ players… just not my thing). The one gripe is the shared EQ. Other than that, I can't think of a thing I would change.Willie

The cleans have a life of their own,it’s not merely lack of distortion but a whole depth and presence,think Stevie Ray Vaughn’s Riviera Paradise,Tin Pan Alley ,etc…Mark Knopfler’s tone,Hendrix’s Wind Cries Mary,yeah it’s that good.The overdrive channel can put out some juice too,pure singing single note leads with a quick attack,and damn good heavy riffage is available,but make no mistake this is no death metal amp.Classic rock yes,Cannibal Corpse no,but I’ve got amps for that stuff anyways.When I removed it from the box,I plugged in the included foot switch,turned on the power and waited for 10 minutes or so for the tubes to warm.I put all the tone controls to the halfway point and lowered the volume to about the number 1 position on any other amp,hit the standby switch and played a few chords on my Strat,it was on the clean channel and sounded glorious!This thing takes some adjusting to get the sound you want,but every move of a knob makes a difference so finding a tone that makes you happy shouldn’t be a problem. The foot switch is nice and silent and the LED indicators for the dirty channel and the boost are super bright. I’ve only had this amp three days and I can’t wait to get home from work and play through it! Definitely worth the money and although pricey still less expensive than the only other amps that approach it’s features and tone. Of course I haven’t had to deal with any warranty work,after all I just got it,but I have the feeling I’m not going to have to deal with that,this thing is solid as a tank.For what it’s worth I highly recommend this thing,it’s a serious amp for serious playersDave

This is the amp and tone I have been in search of. It has plenty of gain for metal and the EQ dials in nicely. The clean channel is excellent as well. You will not find a better amp for the price, what a killer value! You could potentially spend a lot of money on an amp of this caliber, but probably won't get any better tone quality for spending lot's of extra $! It has all the knobs, bell's and whistles that you'll ever need, including a four button footswitch; clean, crunch, lead and FX/boost. There are some bad reviews on Bugera amps like when an expelled tube blows a fuse and someone thinks that it deems It a piece of junk. Be prepared this amp is bulky heavy but sounds beautiful. The clean channel crisp clear. The crunchy gain is FLIPPIN CRAZY great tone. And for the lead channel well its the same depending on how you have your settings. This is a really neat little amp that has more than enough gain to be usable for modern metal tones right out of the box. To get it sounding exactly how I want, I needed to put an overdrive/boost into the front (Boss SD1 sounds great to me), and use a noisegate. I couldn't find these local and I mounted the amp right next to the stereo. The thing was I didn't want a 2 to 6 ft cord hanging out that I was gonna have to hide so these little Rca jacks did the trick and they work perfect. No wires to hide!josepbusto0

This is a fun little amp that offers a variety of tones at whatever volume you need. 20 watts in an all-tube amp is more than enough volume to keep up with a drummer and gig. With built power attenuation that lets you switch between 20, 5, or even 1 watt, you can practice at low volume at home (or no volume with headphones), and still achieve a rich tube tone. Rhythm channel: Acts as both a "clean" and "crunch" channel. Fender Twin Reverb cleans are out of reach, but still surprisingly lush and useable. Turn up the pre-gain to add a beautiful smooth break-up. Bright switch available, and I'll note that it's useable, and doesn't turn your tone into an ice pick. Toggle the crunch mode on (or switch on with the included foot switch) to add another level of drive and a bit more compression. There's quite a bit of gain on tap here, enough for classic rock of any variety, even 80's/90's hard rock, grunge, alternative. This would be a complete, excellent amp with only the rhythm channel. But there's more…. Lead channel: This is why you buy the amp. Hot, searing lead tone designed by Eddie Van Halen himself (Peavey 6505 = Peavey 5150 with a different name). Used by rockers and metal-heads alike for decades now, this ultra high gain tone is iconic. Plenty of bass for chugging palm-muted riffs a la Metallica or [insert heavy metal band name], but don't worry, shredders, lead lines maintain remarkable clarity and character. Shared EQ across both channels; not an issue for me, and you can always get an EQ pedal. Effects loop, options for recording via USB, headphones out (no auxiliary out for your MP3 player). Bottom line: This amp offers a lot of options, and it does an impressive job at each. I LOVE the built in attenuation for late night jam sessions while still having the volume and power for full band settings. Bought used, had the pots cleaned to get rid of some crackling. I love this amp but I will say, the standard overdrive does suck if you aren't using any boosts or pedals. I really recommend an eq and tube screamer pedal with this. I had no problems with feedback, just weak gain and needed just a push on the overdrive punch. Love the presence and resonance, its also nice having reverb. I have the 100 watt of this amp too and the pedal is NOT cross compatible sadly. Clean channel could be cleaner, a little on the muddied sound, like a jazz pick up trying on crunch overdrive. Definitely play through 12 inch speakers, tens don't give you full bass capacity,even with eq boosts. All in all, amp is built well and adaptable if you have your sound dialed in outside of your standard amp controls, i.e.- pedals/compressor, etc. Through just standard amp distortion on overdrive, at most you get an ac/dc amount of over drive/distortion.jeffro records

The amp sounds phenomenal. You have to hear it in person to appreciate it. When you dig into the guitar you not only get a gritty, gain-heavy sonic assault, you can feel the amps power hit you in the gut. It has a very nice controllable compression that still enough headroom to feel when you play. Peavey amplifiers are frequently regarded as "high gain" amplifiers and this amplifier is definitely one of them. It's light in weight, yet powerful enough for practice and gigging. Pair it with a 4×12 cabinet with some Celestions and there are few could find fault with your sound or volume. It's got several tone-shaping controls, including presence, resonence, a bright boot and a separate gain-boost on the crunch channel. The amplifier is smart about it's electronics, and gives you tube status via LEDs above the power and stand-by switch. The amp has a nice feature set including cabinet-less recording out, a USB interface, variable power output (20 watt, 5 watt, and 1 watt). It has an XLR out for recording. The amp doesn't support 4 ohm speakers, only 8 ohm & 16 ohm. Ergonomics: I'm used to gain first, by the input jack, followed by tone, followed by main power amplification (loudness). Not this amp. First are some tone-conntrol functions mixed together with gain, then more tone control, then loudness, then reverb, then more tone control. I don't know why all the tone control was grouped together, but it wasn't. The labels for the knob are below them, so unless the amp is almost at eye level you can't read them. The speaker ohm setting, something presumably you wouldn't need to swtich often, is handled by a big, ready to be flipped toggle-switch. The power/power soak function, something you may actually flip back and forth in a given evening, is an uninvited plastic slide switch. Peavey got these switches backwards. Then there's some obtuse buttons that control things like XLR wiring and if a cabinet is selected. The ergonomics are weird. I like the amp A LOT, though.Salvador

The blue channel is very pantera with no pedals. Noise gate in the effects loop is all it needs. Emulated out sounds great for di recording. During a massive tube shortage this is an awesome back up amp.Mike

Sound: The clean channel is basically a low overdrive channel. Which is fine by me since I never use this amp for clean tones. The number 2 "classic" overdrive is really the best gain you can get for the price. I'm a firm believer in amp over pedals when it comes to distortion and this amp definitely delivers some serious distortion. Very good tribute to the old dime amps. Channel 3 is more suited to the newer "core" sound. It's my low channel for when I want to practice and not blow the windows off but if I turned it up it would rip paint off with the amount of gain. It's not a bad lead channel but the tone will take some time to match up if you tend to switch a lot. All in all, it's not an RH100 but it's not at all a bad amp. Especially for the price. Features: The built in noise gate is crap but it does help. The reverb has a tendency to over saturate and leave this annoying hum if you have it too high. The eq isn't over responsive but it's not dead so you can shape your tone fairly easily. I got around all of these problems by adding an eq turning down the reverb and getting a cheap noise gate and now it's near perfect. Ease of Use: It's a solid state amp so it's literally plug in and play. Finding a tone is fairly easy if you don't mind taking a minute and dialing it in. Footswitches make the world go round… Nuff said… Quality: It seems well made and I take pretty good care of my stuff so it should last a while. Value: This is pretty self explanatory… Manufacturer Support: Never needed it. The Wow Factor: For the price… WOW Overall: I got this in a pinch to go with an old orange cab for my band. Probably the best quick decision I've made in a while.Juan

I have always wanted a Randall Amp but have never had the means or opportunity to purchase one until now. There are pros and cons to this amp but the props most definitely outweigh the cons. Pros Amp's 3 channels make it very easy to switch between genres of music Clean channel is very crisp and other channels have enough "punch" to knock your socks off Buttons are well organized for ease of use and user functionality Built in bass boost and mid scoop make this amp unique Cons The only problem i have found is that it sometimes requires a noise gate in the effects loop as playing at higher gain settings sometimes causes it to hum. Though this is a solid state i feel as if it competes well with higher end tube amps. Overall this is amp is definitely worth the money.Nathaniel

Received this thing the other day. Picked up on level 2 discount. I own several tube amps and some digital amps as well. The Yamaha is the first digital product I have used that actually lives up to the claim of tube like performance. This amp feels like a tube amp which is crazy. Only thing I have not tried is the included pedal that did not arrive in box? Trying to figure that out with musicians friend. I am surprised to see no reviews on amp as it is very good. Buy one if you need tube tone and feel but tired of tube changes ect. I am playing through a blackstar 2-12 cabJay

After hearing this amp in person i was very curious about it. I just picked up the head and matching cabinet and i have to say that it is amazing. The low end is so tight and focused and it really does sound and feel like a very high end tube amplifier. I also wanted to mention that this thing is capable of being incredibly loud. After spending some time with it I am very happy with the purchase and have dialed in some amazing sounds. I pulled it out of the custom wood cabinet and put it in a rack for easier transport to gigs. I know this is expensive for a solid state amplifier and i hear that argument quite a bit but after hearing it and playing it I am sold.Justonemoreguitar

Many comments about price and value for the money. I actually own one and I can tell you it's a very well built, authentic sounding amp. The base amp tone and the included "brown sound" capsule cover a wide spectrum of tones – more than most would consider or need. In my opinion it's worth the investment if you can afford it. I really wanted to love this amp and started after opening the box, it was rugged contraction, very well built. The clean channel was just awesome, great tone and sparkly. The reverb was fine, I don't use too much reverb just enough. Now for the bad and the reason why I returned it, channel two the dirty channel. It was too muddy and when I did power chords it sounds horrible. I read the instructions and turned down the bass, mids about 1 o'clock, treble up and presence WAY up just to get a some what decent sound out of it. But still I couldn't live with it at all. Maybe if I was in a Grunge band this was sound great but I'm not. This was not for me.Rob

1) Headroom for all small and large club venues. 2) Extremely musical with dark creamy tones. 3) The Clean is bright and vibrant. Add a little compression and it becomes bacon grease. (Fatty goodness) 4) Easy to dial in a wide variety of tones. 5) Excellent price for audiophiles on a limited budget. 6) Reliability? Time will tell. 7) Lightweight and portable. This amp is great. Ton of headroom and the tone is outstanding. I originally was looking for a tube amp for the 3 channels and the warm tone you get from tubes. I seen this one and thought, it’s Randall so it’s got to be good. I’ve played through several Randall’s over the years and I have to say this thing rocks. The tone is great and plenty of gain. Don’t be fooled though it’s not a gain monster but it offers more than enough for hard heavy metal. This thing is loud, I haven’t had to put it above 4 when we play. The included 4 button footswitch is basic but well built. I haven’t experienced any of the noise associated with button channel switching. This unit however does not have reverb. Not a problem for me but a heads up for those that use built in reverb and not some form of processing. I would definitely buy this again.Justin

I have been playing guitar for over 20 years and I can tell you that this amp rocks!! If you want crisp cleans,it will handle it. If you want nice vintage overdriven tones, it does it. If you want high gain, look no further because this amp will blow your mind!! Dimebag Darrell's amp on steroids!! Pushing 2 custom Randall 412 cabs with Eminence Swamp Thangs and Legend GB128's in X pattern (400 watts each) to their absolute limits. For the amount of gain this thing produces it keeps a clear signal and is pretty quiet compared to some amps in its watt range and thanks to the onboard noise gate its whisper quiet!
