Pulled the trigger on a customer returned SC 607. Instrument arrived late so I will blame Fed Ex for that. Highlights include an absolutely gorgeous matte purple finish, Fishman pick ups, and a standard ESP case. Low points, poorly set up, lots of fret buzz, but I think after getting it professionally set up I won’t have those issues. First time buying a guitar in the ESP Ltd series, I’m an E-2 player and am used to Japanese luthier made instruments, (This particular model was made in Korea). All in all, I’m enjoying the 7 string baritone and am looking forward to a proper set up. AMS gave me a killer deal on this guitar and would strongly recommend them.Chris C.
Excellent guitar for the money, but there are some slight flaws. First off the setup could be a bit better, with fret buzz being a problem, especially on the lower frets. There's also a minor finish issue by the nut, where the paint hasn't covered properly, and the truss rod cover is only held on by one screw, which has been drilled in too high, causing the cover to move and rattle.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Beautiful esp stephen carpenter 27 baritone sct-607b tele. i m the first owner and it s never giged or left my studio. sounds and looks amazing! currently set up for drop f with 79-11 strings. sounds amazing and the emgs are perfect. cleans are incredible in the middle pickup setting and the middle/top pickup really growls on high gain.some very minor scratch and wear that s hard to pick up with no dings that i could find. there is a small ding in the low string tuner, shown in pic, hard to see and blends in with strings i hate to sell this guy, but i m looking for another 6 string esp for a project. if you need more pics, feel free to ask!

Wonderful sound when applying effects as well. neck action is nice. 2 things I would consider if you haven't played this guitar and are going to purchase by internet:: 1. The pickups are located next to each other so a slight modification in your strumming hand position will be needed. 2. The neck is very wide and not friendly to shorter fingers. You may need to find a different position on the neck to play certain things. Otherwise it is a fine guitar with an absolutely beautiful finish that shines even in a dimly lit room. the pickguard and pinstripe around the body have a matching shell like pattern that I thought was a nice touch. I have owned a custom shop Jackson SL and an American made Jackson SL2 in my life. I have also owned a Carvin 727. I have to admit the fit and finish of my 607B is on par with those. I am using it for recording primarily, but it sounds incredible. It cuts right through a dense mix of keys, brass, strings and percussion. I compose symphonic metal and this guitar suits me perfectly. The is jaw dropping in person. It stays in tune extremely well and the intonation appears dead on and the strings are ver, very close to the fretboard. This guitar easily rivals my previous guitars and cost less than half or a third of the others. I may eventually decide the buy the purple 607 because the quality of this has sold me on these. The pickups are the first actives I have ever used and are very aggressive. They sound dark, but powerful. Thank you ESP and AMS for such a great axe and a payment plan that made it possible.Lonzenator
First off…the paint job on this is AMAZING. There is no way for this to NOT look good on stage or in the practice room. It is surprisingly pretty hefty for a telecaster style body in terms of weight, but not to the point that it is uncomfortable to play. The ebony fretboard and neck radius makes this guitar VERY easy to play. Doesn't matter if I am chugging away or doing shred style solos, the easy of fretboard navigation and feel is beyond comparison. The Fishman Fluence Customs it sound great through an overdriven 5150's and a Kemper. Surprisingly the cleans are very nice as well. The Longer baritone length gives it a lot pf crispness and clarity while maintaining that gnarly bite even under high gain. The only thing I wish was a little different is the pickup placement. For solos, I love to use neck pickups. The pickup being in the middle is not as usable as I would like it to be, and I had to lower it a great deal so that I was not hitting it with picks constantly. But…I knew what I was getting when I got it. The neck meeting the body where it does makes it a little harder to access the upper frets for that 23rd and 24th fret. The switching between voices is a little different on these when compared to the normal Fishman Fluence Moderns…but not a deal breaker. My only regret overall is that I did not buy this guitar years ago. I am thinking about getting another simply for touring so I can have different tunings on one and then switch to the other.Casey L.

Great guitar for the price. Feels really solid and well made with great neck through body. Mine has a little overspray in the paint around the pickup selector switch, but it not really too noticeable, it's also darker green than pictured on the musicians friend site, so something to be aware of. Fretboard is nice a dark on mine. The neck pickup sounds a little muddy but it probably won't see too much use. The bridge pick sounds full on Deftones! I had to give the truss rod a couple of quarter turns with the included allen wrench as the neck arrived with a bit of a bow in it, but now its straight as an arrow and plays perfectly. I usually have to mess around with the action at the bridge and nut, but this was good to go.BH
Great LTD version of the original Stef Signature. Been waiting for this to come out. The feel is very smooth and the neck is very fast. Very solid guitar…built very well and feels very durable. I play with Fishman Fluence so I will probably switch out the pickups. But the Seymour and ESP designed are clean and cut through the mix.Earl

ESP/LTD did not disappoint with this model. I've owned several ESP/LTD's over the years and the quality control and consistency at all price points is top notch. I'm a huge fan of Deftones and Stef Carpenter, their music got me into playing guitar. This guitar will provide you with their tones, but most important, is extremely versatile. This has to be the most comfortable guitar I've owned and played. The setup was perfect out of the box which I never expect due to climate/shipping, etc. the neck relief and action was spot on for my liking. You get great value and spec for your money!Scott

This guitar is fantastic. I was hesitant to try an 8 string because I’m a traditional 6 string player, but I wanted to be able to play some of the newer Deftones songs, so this was kinda necessary. It didn’t take long, maybe 10 minutes or so, for me to get accustomed to the extra strings and longer scale length. The pickups on this guitar are really the star of the show. I’m a Fluence believer and love the versatility. The finish on this guitar is also remarkable. Between the look and features, you’d think you were getting a custom shop instrument. Definitely check this guitar out if you’re at all interested.Steve
This is the second 8 string i have owned, i sold the first one because it wasn't comfortable and wouldn't set up properly. This guitar was set up perfect out of the box, pickups are super articulate and is very comfortable to play at the upper frets, which i had problems with before. I've had this guitar for about 10 months, and it's great! It's everything you'd come to expect from the ESP LTD line. But the big question is, "How's that bridge?" My motivation for buying this specific guitar was my unending frustration with the floating tremolo on my previous guitar. We started jumping back and forth between standard and dropped D in our set, and making that work with a FR was a nightmare. With that, I had set out on finding a non-FR or fixed bridge, since I rarely used the trem' anyway. I had always wanted an ESP and the idea of each saddle being independent of one another was compelling. It can take a little to get used to, though. Tuning is done at the bridge, and the tension on the strings is adjusted by the tuning pegs. Once the string has the right amount of tension, that saddle will be "activated" in what is referred to as "zone 2". Here, the springs will counter any additional tension applied to that string up to a given point. This means that you cannot do bends or change the pitch in any real or easy way. Some people may like this, but it feels very odd, and the people at Evertune know that most people don't play like this. So, to get the best of both worlds, you will need to apply enough tension on the saddle to bring it right up to the edge of zone 2 by turning the tuning pegs. What I found to be helpful here is to not just listen for the note to change, but to pull on the string and visually inspect movement in the saddle. Once this is set, it feels like a normal guitar with just a tad more tension on the strings. The guitar will come with 10-gauge strings. I gave that a shot for a while. Only recently did I switch them out for some 9s. I think it feels a lot better with a lighter gauge string, especially considering that tad bit of tension. A tip I learned regarding Dropped D was to tune the guitar down by default. Then tune up the low E, which puts that saddle into "zone 3". This is far easier than the reverse and stiJohn Q. I ordered this Bass as I wanted a more modern fretless than my Jazz and decided on a 5. I was first impressed by the exotic finish of these Basses but skeptical on quality at this price. I needn't have worried. I honestly do not know how ESP maintain this kind of fantastic quality/price. Out of the box the maple cap looks great if you like a natural wood finish. I could not find a single cosmetic flaw. The Bass is slightly neck-heavy due to the light weight body but it sits well on a strap. The hardware seems solid enough and looks cool. My Bass was well set-up but other reviews say the contrary. The strings are D'addario Rounds as listed so you may want to change these out for flats if you wish to avoid scratches on the roasted Jatoba fingerboard (they used to be Rosewood). The active threeband eq plus passive pan pot give a lot of tone scope. The only negative point to my ears is that I would like a touch more sustain but all in all consider these Basses before going for a Rockbass.
I have been playing guitar for six years and am a massive fan of hot humbuckers and EMGs. This LTD does not disappoint and is easily my best guitar (next to my Solar s1.6pb27, which also sports an EverTune bridge). The LTD MH1000's body looks great, neck feels great, frets are smooth and it stays in tune extraordinarily well with the EverTune bridge. It is extremely easy to set this guitar up yourself due to the bridge; I didn't have to take it to a shop before I started recording with it. Excellent value.

Jackson js34q in transparent red. has all original hardware including a jackson-licensed floyd rose tremolo and trem arm. some light wear after several years of play. there is a small, barely visible bump mark on the back side of the bottom horn. an otherwise gorgeous finish with a beautiful curly maple top. 2 screws are missing from the back plate, guitar is in need of a setup and intonation. the b string buzzes just a bit after sitting for a few months in it's case. after setup this guitar is super playable and shreddy. very comfortable weight. includes a premium hard case and a very nice crimson seatbelt strap from couch straps.

I would suggest both the JS34Q (this purchase) and the similarly priced and same model series JS32QM for, in my judgement, an all around reliable and capable instrument at a moderate to economical price. The pick up configuration is the only difference between these two models. The price is about the same as well. I've had and used my Jackson JS32QM for about a year now. It stays in tune (I use the tremolo a lot) and has never failed me. But I was seeking a backup. That is why I purchased this Jackson JS34Q (here). So I expect to have the same experience with the new JS34Q as it physically is the same build as my JS32QM. So far I've had no issues, plus I think the JS34Q was already set up. I am absolutely not saying that generally any guitar brand comes set up new. It is no big deal anyway to set up a guitar. For me Floyd Rose guitars are the easiest to set up due to access and hex tools. Hard tails often have easy to damage little slot things, hard to get to and length limited range. Beginners take note. I have a hard tail Jackson Kelli too. It plays a lot like a mix of my SG and my '58 LPJr., which means great bends and chording. So therefore I can say I've had all types of guitars over the last 45 years and with all the past experience I'm a dedicated Jackson user now. So I can unreservedly suggest a Jackson, at least those I mentioned. I was expecting this new Jackson JS34Q to pretty much be a close twin to my current JS32QM, but was pleasantly surprised to find the difference in sound and play feel with just a different pickup configuration and maple neck. Both guitars have humbuckers in bridge position, but they sound totally different. I'm thinking maybe it is the maple neck? Anyway, it is a good thing, now I get that Hendrix-Trower-SRV-on sound. Got to GC to return something and already have enough guitars and am actually selling some to make room. Well, I don't have a purple or a Jackson, and I love the HSS configuration and had a Fishman set I wanted to try, so I grebes this guitar off the wall to test it out. I'm not an import guitar snob, so I don't judge Chinese guitars harshly unless there are QC issues. I had played the red and the blue colors of this model around Thanksgiving and literally cut my hand to bleeding because I didn't check the fret ends before playing the guitars. Well needless to say, this purple one's fret job had no razor ends and was built incredibly well with a tight finish. Stock pickups are very solid, though an aftermarket upgrade is always the way to go for more articulation. I'm partial to actives now, but I think I might swap it's Fishman's I installed with my Banshee's DMZ Protrack, Alumitone, Andy Timmons AT-1 Bridge. I love the Schecter also for its Thick D neck and larger radius, but this Jackson just has this awesome bright, yet not harsh tone that comes off the strings and the neck is extremely playable. I can't say enough good things about this guitar and I'm hoping to score a mid-tier Jackson now as they belong right up there with Schecter and ESP as far as brands I can expect a consistently playable guitar, no matter the price range. I'm very impressed with this guitar for the price. Out of the box, the action was quite low and the intonation was almost perfect. There's no buzzing anywhere on the fretboard. The fit and finish on my guitar was flawless, even in usual problem areas like around the tremolo and pickups. Playability is excellent with one exception: when bending strings, it feels like the frets are sandpaper. Oddly, they feel perfectly smooth to the touch. This has already improved somewhat after an hour of playing, and I suspect they'll smooth out with use. This is very subjective, but through an amp it doesn't sound as good as my other electrics. I can't quite put my finger on it, it just falls flat. Not too surprising given that these are inexpensive pickups. Or maybe it's simply different than what I'm used to. Your mileage may vary. As with any three-pickup guitar, the middle single coil falls right in the way of my pick when palm muting. Again, your mileage may vary. All things considered, this is an exceptional value and would be great for any beginning or intermediate player. I suspect examples can vary widely depending on who assembled them and did the final setup, and I'm sure there are some lemons out there as evidenced by some other reviews, but mine is excellent.Ross

Yet again, ESP continues to come thru with amazing products for so little money. I have modified MY SC-207 a bit to make it more of a tone monster, but to use and keep it as a stock model is still a great guitar. In MY opinion, the stock pickups are not powerful enough, and the guitar will benefit from a set of Dimarzio D-Activators (with the Duncan Designed pickups) OR a set of EMG's (with the newer EMG-sized ESP pickups). The body feels great and the painted back of the neck feels just as smooth and great. The tone is simply amazing, and it looks absolutely killer with the black and chrome. In MY SC-207, I had loaded it with the coil-tap EMG 707's and had a special wiring configuration done allowing me to get 8 different pickup configurations along with a volume blend for each pickup and an EMG Afterburner for the preamp boost. This has since become one of the sickest guitars I have ever owned, and couldn't be happier… Well, maybe IF I could own the ORIGINAL Carpenter 7-string made back in 2000, but that's another story!!! Great low action and I didn't really have to adjust to play on the 'strange' frets. Pick ups deliver good tonal range. Low price but high quality. There was a chip out of the finish on the headstock but for the comfort with playability and tones from clean to high gain along with the price, I can't complain and its highly likely this wasn't a defect from AMS because shipping companies like FedEx are known to roughly handle packages but I can say AMS did a great job packaging this guitar. They even had it already set up and tuned. I highly recommend buying this guitar for the sound and craftsmanship given its price.

Excellent guitar! selling to fund some studio purchases. bought used this last year from a friend. it is in pretty nice shape – but beause of the black finish, scratches and normal play wear show up a little more prominently. i took a bunch of pictures to show the condition, but let me know if you'd like any extra. the signs of most wear is around where your arm drapes over the top, and near the pickups. it just seems to be surface-level stuff. the strap pegs have been replaced to black schaller-style. neck is straight and the action is low. it is currently tuned to 8-string standard. it is a very hefty guitar, and it's just too much for my meager hands to wrangle.

I have been a fan of Stephen and the Deftones since their inception in the mid-90s. When his first six-string ESP model came out I bought it, and I now own two from that era. They are some of the best insturments I own and the design and specs are amazing. Over the years he has moved from six, seven and now eight string behemoths. These guitars carry the same build quality and are the only 8 string guitar I have ever been able to pick up and play. This thing doesn't look funny like most 8 strings, and plays well, can't go wrong with emg's. I added a second 9v for more headroom, easy mod. I also replaced the nut with a black water buffalo horn nut for added sustain/string transfer and improved action. This this sustains very well and has a little improvement in tone. I have owned a Schecter HellRaiser C-7 FR for years and love it. I purchased this guitar from WoodwindBrasswind a very highly respected store on eBay. I first noticed that it wouldn't stay in tune when I used the Floyd Rose Tremolo system. It would go out of tune nearly a half step sharp after pulling up and about a half step flat after pushing down. I replaced the strings, but it still couldn't stay in tune. I then took off the Tremolo system and checked the basswood body for any cracking or gaps. The body was perfect. The blades of the Floyd Rose Tremolo Bridge were fine, but the Mounting Studs had scratches and were showing pot-medal through the chrome. This is indicative of adjusting the action when the Floyd Rose Tremolo System is under full tension of the springs, which is something that should never be done. The sticker on the back said it was set up in the USA by #43. The studs didn't look too bad, so I put Teflon tape around the threads and put it back together. It still went out of tune, the same as before. I adjusted the springs in the back under several different configurations. It still doesn't stay in tune. I contacted Schecter Guitar Research via email and was told to show receipt of purchase from woodwindBrasswind. Then they questioned me about the price if it was new… After I gave them the receipt info. I was told that if I wanted it fixed I would have to ship, here is the conversation. "Thanks, Xxxxx. Here are your instructions: Put the RA# XXXXXXXX on the outside of the shipping box and send the guitar to: Schecter Guitar Research Inc. 10953 Pendleton St. Sun Valley, CA 91352 IMPORTANT: Pack the instrument well. I mostly use the guitar to jam by myself, sometimes I'll track it when I want a heavy hitter in a song. The seventh has such a good crisp and pop to it. The pickups do a phenomenal job at, well, picking up that frequency with such force and power. I only had one issue, and that was my input jack kept frying, like after every 3 hours of use. I kept taking it to a guitar mechanic and hes never seen an issue like it before. His best guess was the Active EMG's, but never heard a response from them regarding the issue. After waiting months to hear back from them, he opened up the guitar, cut every connection and resoldered it and now it works fine. Everything else is great. The weight is a little bit heavier, but that's what you would want in a 7 string. tuning is super easy and it holds its tune. I think ive maybe had to correct me tuning maybe 5 times in the last 6 months, and i bend the heck out of strings when i play. I'm personally not a big fan of having a bridge pickup AND THEN the second pickup be a mid instead of a neck. I mean, Yeah it gets the job done to even out the High's when you're in that range past the 12th fret, but like i said, personally I like it a little more dim than where its at now. But overall. ESP/LTD killed it with this guitar. It looks like 1,000, feels like 1,000, will preform like 1,000.Kevalicious

It’s a 7-string, neck-thru-body designed at 27” baritone scale. the stef-b7 features an alder body with maple neck and ebony fingerboard, along with sperzel locking tuners and a tonepros locking tom bridge. perhaps the highlight of this guitar that was updated in 2016 is its fishman fluence src signature active pickup set. each pickup has multiple voicings; use the push-pull control on the volume knob to select the one you want. on the middle alnico pickup, push down for “modern active” tone or pull up for “modern passive attack”. on the bridge ceramic pickup, push down for “modern passive attack” tone or pull up for “modern active” voicing. this model includes fishman’s universal usb rechargeable battery pack.

Pulled the trigger on a customer returned SC 607. Instrument arrived late so I will blame Fed Ex for that. Highlights include an absolutely gorgeous matte purple finish, Fishman pick ups, and a standard ESP case. Low points, poorly set up, lots of fret buzz, but I think after getting it professionally set up I won’t have those issues. First time buying a guitar in the ESP Ltd series, I’m an E-2 player and am used to Japanese luthier made instruments, (This particular model was made in Korea). All in all, I’m enjoying the 7 string baritone and am looking forward to a proper set up. AMS gave me a killer deal on this guitar and would strongly recommend them.Chris C.
Excellent guitar for the money, but there are some slight flaws. First off the setup could be a bit better, with fret buzz being a problem, especially on the lower frets. There's also a minor finish issue by the nut, where the paint hasn't covered properly, and the truss rod cover is only held on by one screw, which has been drilled in too high, causing the cover to move and rattle.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
