Better than any locking tuner, you just have to measure the string to the second peg above the one you're using, cut it and put it in. When you get to the unwound ones, clip a little shorter (can't tell you how to measure, I figured it out by trial and error. I would estimate 3 wraps by sort of wrapping it loosely, then cut). Perfect match to the vintage F tuners made on the great strats of yore, you can age them to match by fuming the finish with muriatic acid. Place the tuners on an upside down bowl in a piece of tuperware with an inch or so of acid. Seal the lid. Place in a bath of hot water, and the acid will heat and evaporate. After 10 – 15 minutes check the level of chrome removal. You can always do more, but you can't easy put chrome back on. Rinse with cold water when you're done. RAWK ON!!!!ki_jaybones

I build custom Strat/Tele's so this may not apply to all but…. Like others said this peg uses press-fit front bushing style similar to low cost Squire Strat. For standard diecast pegs I drill 10 mm diameter holes on peg head. I use aftermarket necks with 8 mm diameter hole (I remember it is same as low cost Squire). What I do on 8 mm holes for this peg is I drill 4 mm deep 23/64 (9.1 mm??) diameter counterbore holes to accommodate the bushings. I strongly recommend using drill press not hand drill for this. Also for a better support of peg shaft, I made Teflon sleeves to fill the peghead holes of 8 – 10 mm with silicone grease. One minor issue I have is peghead of some aftermarket Tele neck is a little undersized so I need to file the end peg (High E) a bit to fit.Basement Blues

Having been a big fan of the Snark tuners for years, it was a big disappointment to find that it had to be removed from my new guitar in order to put it in its case. This little widget has really saved the day! Because of its ultra-small body, somewhat limited positioning ability and ratchet clamp design, there's only a couple of places this tuner can really mount on the headstock of a Gibson es339 style guitar, but it mounts securely and is easily operated and that is a great thing! Those two positions, by the way, are on either side of the headstock, between the nut and closest tuner key and even then the bulk of the truss rod cover almost makes that not work. But the display rotates a full 360 degrees horizontally, so it's easy to position it for easy reading once in place. As much as I am thrilled to be able to keep a tuner on the headstock while the guitar is in its case again, that's not to say this tuner couldn't benefit from some changes, however. 1- the battery is a pain to remove, 2- the display is almost too small and information is cramped and not very crisp, 3- the ratchet clamp, although secure enough for my needs, might not be in some positions and with more active players. Two BIG Love/Hate issues I have with the Micro Tuner and changes I would make, if it were up to me would be: 1- make the display about 1/4" bigger all the way around. It's compact design makes it both great and troublesome. Just a little bit larger and text could be more readable. 2- Including a metronome is GREAT and its display works a lot better for me than the little beating heart of the Snark, but why wasn't the metronome function button made to be a TAP tempo button? The arrow buttons already default as calibration adjustments for the center reference pitch. The metronome button could have just been made to override the pitch calibration function, instead of to choose between functions. A metronome-on/tap tempo button would just be the icing on the cake here (in my opinion). Overall, great tuner – responsive, accurate, compact and appears to be of good build quality. This little tuner is really easy to use and discrete in appearance. I'm by no means a professional musician but getting my guitar and ukulele in tune is important to me. I was adding a 2nd tuner to my gear. This is a good tuner, but it defaults back to 440 Hz with every power down. I tune to 415, half step down and leave it there. My D'Addario tuner maintains whatever Hz adjustment was made prior to power down. I made the bad assumption that others of a quality brand would support this too. I bought a Snark tuner YEARS ago. I thought this one must be better (it's been years). Frankly it isn't (it's been years). It's OK. I don't mind it. I prefer my old one. That said, I bought two of these and will use use them all the time. When you're told that a product has been improved and the supposed improvements are are not only not perceptible but the product seems to be inferior then … what? YAY gold button! This tuner appears to be a decent quality item. The most important thin, of course is it works! Follow the colour indicator to the correct colour and your guitar is in tune. A neat touch is because of the ball joints, the tuner can be mounted on the back side of the headstock, out of view of an audience but still fully visible to the user. The other point is. It's simple. Turn it on, tune up, turn it off. Great little unit. Slightly more expensive but in my opinion, worth it.alsanjak

This little gadget is fantastic and well worth the money. It's super easy to install and setup and does exactly what it says. Just a quick push or pull of the D-Tuna and you instantly jump from E standard to Drop D and back again in an instant. No fiddling with lock nuts or tuners again, or just having 2 seperate guitars setup in each tuning, so cool. I've been using it for over 4 months now and it still functions perfectly and I've used it quite a bit. I installed it while doing a string change and everything went nice and smooth just following the supplied instructions. Its great to have if you dont have an arsenal of guitars to switch between tunings. Pull the trigger, a couple of twists on the fine tuners and youre good! I dont know how well it works on other locking tremolos? But it fits and works great on my Floyd Rose knock-off. This product is of Eddie van halen. It's very popular among guitar players since it's eddie who invented it. I put it on my Sterling AX3 music man axis copy and I have to say it works perfectly. I get drop d tuning by pulling the thing out of the bridge and it goes right back to E when you push it back in. So it's really convenient for switching from drop d playing to regular E tuning. I think it also makes the guitar sound much better since the bridge I put in it is a cheap Floyd rose imitation. The guitar sounds much better now. But I also changed the pickup wiring so that could be the cause of much improvement in tone.ibanezwielder

I have used these strings for 3 or 4 years now they're really good I chose them because of the size and I found out that they are awesome. Not one ever broke on me as I did expect the 10 to from the speed and pressure I used sometimes. My particular style is metal, the strings work great for that. They are highly pliable. I am a bender and the tuning I think does not go out too much after the stresses I place on the strings. I have used deep standard E standard C standard a also be dropped down tuning no problem with any of the strings at all the sound is crisp and clear it's not a muddy sound and it's not a tinggi sound from the strings like a steel Acoustic sound.Big Mac

These strings work pretty much as advertised. They let you tune absurdly low without sacrificing note clarity or integrity… not perfectly, but reasonably. They also stay in tune remarkably well with little to no breaking-in.Regular DR 10's can handle my guitar tuned down 1 1/2 steps with no problems, but anything beyond that is flub territory and intonation is out by as much as a full half-step. With the DDT 10's, I can go 3 steps down and they still sound tight. If you check with a tuner, the intonation isn't quite right, but the difference is negligible to the naked ear. It's hard to break a DDT string. They are noticeably tougher than your average set of 10's. The feel is quite nice at 1 steps and lower though. They're surprisingly easy on the fingers. You don't have to pick hard to get heavy attack. They just exude brutal tone.Their quality stands true to the DR name. Definitely worth a try if you plan on experimenting with extremely low tunings. They can make your 6-string sound like a 7-string… only it'll still feel like a 6-string!Strizzwald

I typically play a half step down, sometimes drop C#. Guitar I have set up for that was giving me some occasional open string buzz in drop C#, but I didn't wanna go to a higher gauge because I like to be able to go to E standard once in a blue. Took the Daddarios off, put these on. Boom. Problem solved. Also very stable tuning wise and feel great overall. Thumbs up!Dustin J.

Tuners are solid and work — not locking type, but stays in tune. Installation takes either a neck with the two little guide-holes all ready to go, or else some skill with a small drill bit. Put it into place and tighten down enough to leave two faint dents on the headstock, then remove and drill. Tape a stop guide so you don't drill too far through the neck, just deep enough for the wee pegs.zippinski

The only downside to these tuners is that they require two holes to be drilled in the back of the headstock alongside the 10mm hole to locate two pins extending from each tuner that prevent it twisting around under string tension. If your headstock is pre-drilled, no problem, but if it isn't you will have to do this yourself. I used a Dremel with a dentists' drill and a steady hand. Other than this they look great, very tidy and most importantly work well. They hold tune perfectly. Recommended.johthoma270

These are the tuners that came stock on my E4 Fender American Standard. They have a smooth feel, and stay in tune well. The tuners have worked reliably since I bought the guitar in 1985. I also have several other guitars with these tuners, and they all function perfectly. I think that the tuners improve the sound by making sure that the strings stay in tune. Also, these tuners make good contact with the neck, and don't vibrate like some marginally acceptable Chinese tuners, found on some Squiers (and other budget guitars), thereby better transferring vibration to and from the neck and strings. Battery charge does not last long. Also, after clipping the tuner onto the guitar (Gretsch G5222) the display housing located on the movable arm that hooks the clip to the display housing, is so loose at the housing that it spins like a propeller on a child's beany. This delays the response time from striking the string to it registering on the display. Did this just a short time after initial use.David

I tested it against my strobe tuner and was impressed how close it was, not perfect but neither is my ear. So, I used it for the first time during a recent sound check. Unaffected by background noise it performed flawlessly. My guitar was unplugged so I was dependant upon the green light. Buying a back up! Only a couple drawbacks but overall very handy.trey452

It works great at home when getting ready to record and have the time to check it afterwards. The times I've tried to use it in a live situation, it's ended up being off and more time consuming than just using my floor tuner. I was excited about the "tune up to pitch" function, which is how you should tune your guitar to keep the tension on the string, but it turns out it doesn't work good and just kinda goes back and forth wandering looking for the right pitch. I asked to return the unit after that, and the company said they knew it was wrong and they were working on a new algorithm to fix that, so just hold tight. The title says it all. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CHARGE THE UNIT BEFORE USING. SOME POINTS TO REMEMBER. 1) Get a firm grip on this tool. The torque the Roadie 2 generates is surprising, and if the unit is not firmly grasped and/or seated on the tuners it will jerk, possibly come off and you start over again. 2) Don't be surprised if, during tuning, Roadie advances to the next string without you knowing about it. That is, if at first you are a bit slow (and one will be until one gets the hang of it) and think you are tuning for a B string and the machine thinks you are ready for the high e. If at any time one hears more winding than necessary for any given string and of course the pitch goes way beyond normal, you are probably doing something similar to the B/high e scenario. Sometimes the Roadie 2 lets one know one is tuning the wrong string when a red light flashes and a "wrong string" warning appears on the string. There is more but I'm out of……MRW

The Cool Waves D'Addario Eclipse Tuner is the best tuner I ever seen. The color display is very bright, easy to read and allows for easy calibration. The display itself is surrounded by a red rubber edging, similar to a rubber cell phone cover. It is attached to a heavy duty plastic clip by a "hinge". Where the display attaches to the "hinge", it can rotate 360 degrees. Where the hinge is attached to the clip, it can also turn rotate 360 degrees. The hinge itself can be opened almost 180 degrees. So you can basically move the display into any angle you wish. The attachment clip is very sturdy, easy to grip, and has a rubber cushion its ends to keep it from scratching your instrument. The only negative I have is, that although it has basic instructions, it does not come with detailed instructions, or a link where someone could find detailed instructions, for beginners or those not familiar with the usage of electronic tuners. We love this D'Addario Eclipse tuner! It's easy and gentle to clip on. Very easy to use, and easy to read as well even in low-light areas. It came with a battery too! It uses a CR2032 button-style battery when the time comes to replace it. It has a nice colored and easy to read display, and is very no-frills. It is chromatic and calibrates from 435 to 450Hz, works with both our electric and acoustic guitar. It's actually very accurate, and works quickly too. It makes it easy to know when the guitar is in tune. It shows lights that guide you to the correct tuning and shows the note for the string you're tuning. It seems to be made well and it's a good brand name as well. It's reasonably priced and works just as well as the more expensive brands we've had in the past. It will work on all stringed instruments and comes in other colors too. One other nice feature is that after attaching it to the headstock, you can swivel it in many directions so you can view it easily. I've never had a tuner before, I was using an app on my smart phone which was good when it picked up the audio but wasn't ideal for a bass guitar. So I finally decided to look into cheap yet reliable tuners. I found this, loved the look, checked out YouTube reviews and decided yeah it's worth the gamble, can't be worse than the app on my phone! Obviously I've heard of the brand D'addario so I knew quality wasn't going to be an issue. When it arrived I restrung my bass (I purchased new strings too) I was VERY impressed how this picks up and how quick it changes depending on me tuning the peg. It instantly made the app on my phone seem as junk as it was. So so very happy with the price, the product and its performance. I have Grovers on another acoustic guitar that are smoother, hold tune and are a lot less money. I do not recommend these tuners just because of the cost. They look nice but a person can buy tuners that are just as good or better for less.broknspoke

I am an Acoustic Guitar Tuning Geek. As far as "Open back" Tuners for expensive Acoustics there is no better Tuner on todays market than the Schaller GrandTune Open Back Tuners. With their 18:1 Ratio, smooth! did I say smooth action, and precision tuning these are a pure joy to tune with. I like them better than the ever popular Waverly Tuners and in fact have replaced all the Waverly Tuners with Schaller GrandTune Nickel Butterbeans on all my Martin Authentic Series Guitars. Also, these are a direct drop in replacement for Waverly's, including the Tuners, bushings and screw holes. FYI-I had to use the existing Waverly screws since they were existing and are a larger diameter than the Schaller Tuner screws. I couldn't be happier with all aspects of these Schaller GrandTune Tuners! And besides, they are pure "GUITAR JEWELRY"! 🙂 Did I mention how well they hold tune…..THEY DO!dadthrash

These tuners are remarkably smooth, more so even than the Waverly version. The plating is high quality as well. My only issue is with the tiny wood screws. While they certainly don't run the risk of being too long for even the thinnest headstocks, they're very difficult to hold onto and put in place, at least for my hands.marc-1951

I bought this with high hopes. The size is fantastic, was able to squeeze it between 2 other pedals. Lasted 2 gigs before it started being really glitchy and then not working at all. Great idea, hopefully will be improved in the next model.Steve

Didn't get this tuner the first time around because of the bad reviews. That was a mistake. I needed a small tuner for a small pedalboard…. everything else I tried left me disappointed, so I took a chance an got this. Hooked it up to my daisy chain adapter and to the tuner output of my volume pedal….. noise…. all day. But the thing worked great. Then boom it went off in my head…. these guys haven't been using a proper power supply. This thing eats up a tone of juice. They probably have been under powering it. I wouldn't trust the audio in and out being plugged in line with the guitar and amp either. The Tuner output on the volume pedal is the way to go. Once I hooked the power up to an isolated power supply…. it works perfectly. Is it as good as a Polytune? No. Who needs to tune all six strings at the same time any way? But, it's as good as any tuner I've used. Most definitely worth it if space is an issue. Don't be scared!Volpe3g

I have a very busy pedalboard and the slim form factor made to fit in between pedals was super appealing. Using a Voodoo Pedal Power 2 Plus to power it and feeding it a signal from the tuner output of an Earthquaker Swiss Things didn't help at all. It takes what seems like a few seconds to detect pitch and then once it displays it, any changes in pitch require you to pluck the string again, which in turn takes a few seconds to re-detect the note. It won't show you pitch changes in real-time due to the massive lag. It also is pretty insensitive and needs a fairly hard pluck, even being fed from a dedicated buffered tuner output. This is unusable in a live situation where quick tuning is critical. I love Pedaltrain stuff and was really excited to have this but it was a huge disappointment. I honestly don't know how they put this on the market after testing it and thinking that gigging musicians would find it useable. Please fix this and I would gladly get an updated one.Shelley

Preface, I use this with an acoustic violin fitted with a BTS pickup (dual piezos/string), OR with a Greek steel stringed laouto to immediately change from standard tuning to a 5th lower (Cretan, Southern Aegean tuning). Pros – This is a mentality saver. You can be a fantastic musician, able to transpose well, yet regardless of the instrument you are using, and still get a little tripped up when you need to switch course and play in some oddball key. Voila! Drop! I learned about this pedal from a class A1 violin player from Greece (composer, lyricist and recording artist who has recorded with just about every big name- this person is no joke, message me for his name if interested). This person can transpose to any weird key you throw at him, why use it? His response? "Because when I'm on stage and I need to switch quickly to an odd key, I can simply hit the button and not have to think about it". So I gave it a try, and have been using it for 2 years now… it's a life saver. I'm just a fiddler, but this saves me from stressing out and I can play free and it sounds GREAT. It tracks so well I can't tell if there is any latency at all. Cons- With my current setup, I find that I need to either play in front of a monitor or near a speaker or use IEM's, as when playing through the pedal with an acoustic instrument, obviously you are going to hear the natural AND the modified sounds and you ARE going to think it sounds like garbage, then attempt to junk it. DONT DO IT! Unless your pedal is defective, your sound from the speakers is clean. This pedal is meant to be used with mainly electric instruments. During sound check, as loud as you can be, you'll still hear the acoustic sound of your instrument, yet once you are playing with the full band (depending on what your band consists of), it will eventually drown out the sound, and you'll be able to focus on your modified tone, but this is not consistent. Just be aware. If you can, I suggest using some sort of IEM system, wired or wireless, or a monitor. My next step is getting an electric violin body to use this tool even more effectively, but moreso in order to truly utilize my pickup. In a nutshell: Do it!pazarinyc

Sound: Unbelievable how well this pedal track's notes and cords with no noticable latency, IMO it sounds better than tuning down. Features: It's a tank ! Sturdy , Solid , Heavy for it's size , no instructions needed , plug and play Ease of Use: This is simple , Standard tuned guitar , twist the knob to earth shaking low's. Quality: As mentioned , it's a tank , solid construction. Value: I hesitated on this purchase because of the price for a one trick pedal , Worth every penny ! Literally took this thing out of the package. Clipped it on the guitar neck and started with the 6th string. Strum the string and the Note displays. If its the wrong note, simply tighten or loosen the guitar string till the note shows and its solid blue. Color display is easy to use and shows if your going the wrong way or getting close to being on time. Buy it and stop wondering and use it.rogerpk

I tried to use this product several times for acoustic guitar tuning. It is not accurate enough for me. The display was not clear enough. I've played Fender guitars for years and have used this type of tuner for 1 year or more. I much prefer Snark tuners. The Fender tuner was not precise enough in tuning. I would have to use the Snark tuner to more finely tune my guitar. The display was also not that bright. I could not discern when proper pitch was reached.duxr9870

I have previously used TC Electronics tuners with which I have had no complaints. I was looking for a cheap alternative to prevent me from having to carry my usual rack of pedals for my acoustic guitar when I was only going to play bass at a gig. The Behringer fits the bill admirably. I've not experienced some of the difficulties some hard-to-please people have posted on Youtube – crikey some people are petty – and would have no hesitancy in recommending the tuner to anybody else. This tuner pedal works almost same like Boss TU-3 tuner pedal. I bought it based on YouTube reviews, found it really good. The review says it has got very bright power indicator LED which blinds to see the tuner LED's. But the pedal I received didn't have this problem, I think Behringer guys rectified this in the new production batches. This pedal is bit slow in responding (which I can live with) but gives accurate tuning. I took this pedal to quite a few gigs, it has never failed me (I bought it in Jan-15). Now this sits on my Bass guitarist's pedal-board, and he takes it to every gig we go, has never failed him too (he has got a 4-string Ibanez SR-300 bass). This is the second clip-on type tuner I've purchased. I wasn't happy with the first, so I was skeptical about this unit. But, I'm being won over. Operation is a bit tricky, so I'd suggest a quick glance at the instruction sheet. Clip-ons don't work the same on every guitar, so my experience may not be the same as another owner. I play acoustic guitars. I usually clip the tuner on the headstock. The unit is small so it's not a distraction, although unless I'm having tuning problems, I usually take it off during a performance. I like the color indicators and background change from red to green when accuracy is achieved. I downgraded it a bit for the operational characteristics. Small buttons that require multiple pushes or "press & hold" annoy me. Still, it seems to do a fine job of tuning, the indicator is reasonably stable (doesn't jump around) and it's pretty easy to read while on the guitar.Firstson

My favorite tuner! It's tiny, so it fits everywhere. I usually play solo, so I don't worry if the guitar is "properly tuned." But sometimes I get a chance to play with a singer so it's important to get it right = the FT-1 works quickly and accurately, so I'm ready in a few seconds and people aren't standing around waiting for the guitar guy to get in tune. The screen is visible in any light, and I love the bright red/green indicator! I've never had a problem with sensitivity or background. Using the clip on different headstocks can be interesting, but that's a much bigger issue with other tuners – I have one guitar with a 5×2 tuner setup and I learned to clip the FT-1 on the headstock, on the bass side, as close to the nut as possible. It worked so well, I clip the FT-1 they same way on all my guitars. Overall, I'm very pleased and the FT-1 gets my biggest OK!guitarpicker7

It's a marginal tuner with a few problems. First of all, it's black & white before you get near the correct pitch. That's hard to see so you better have good light hitting it or you won't be able to see it. Once you're near your note, it turns either red or green to tell you you're off or on the note. I found that distracting and annoying. It's like this light show going on. Secondly, the indicator bar is about 1/3 of the display and also hard to see. It also needs to have more bars to tell you you're near your note. It only has a few. Other tuners have more bars for detail. I got this on Stupid Deal and it's not worth sending back. I might save it for someone's Xmas stocking and call it a day.MF Customer

I was looking for a good tuner that would be small and not too expensive. I read many reviews and came to the conclusion that this is a very good product that offers precision and comfort with a small size. It doesn't need volume for tuning, only vibration and it is very convenient to place it on the neck of your instrument. For the price i think it does the job and it is definitely not lagging behind other more pricey tuners. The tuner is more suitable for guitarist for it has some tuning options when using capo. Overall i think this is a good product for the price. The only drawback is that it consumes a lot of battery life because of the display, so if you are using a tuner frequently, take into account that you will need many replacement batteries (but the batteries are very cheap on E-bay so not a big problem)Michael

This little gadget is a definite must have for amateur and professional guitarist alike. A cousin of mine showed me his and I knew that I just had to have one. Very simple to use: Just clip it on to your guitar and tune. I especially like that it enables you to tune quickly and also that the display is large and bright, so it is easy to see. It also seems to be very accurate. Another feature of this model is enabling you to tune sharp or flat in half step increments. So, for example, if you wanted to tune to a keyboard that was tuned 1/2 step or a step sharp or flat, you could tune to the keyboard. This feature also enables you to tune with a capo on for more accurate tuning. If I lost it, I would purchase another one…….QUICKLY! Also purchased one for a friend. Wasn't the item ordered, ordered the older style Taylor guitar tuner that automatically switches itself off, saving button cell battery life. Received the newer model Taylor tuner that doesn't automatically switch off, so, less reliable for our live performances were stuff just needs to work without battery issues.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Small and always handy. Noisy rooms are not a problem. Simple soft rubber Pinch clip to Guitar headstock to use. I Drop tested and (clumsy), still works fine. Much better then tradition Mic tuners, Telling everyone to be quiet is not required. Standard Tuning -EADGBE Perfect. The price is great. Good quality. 5 months hard use and not destroyed, not broke.Tones n' More
