I just received these today (3-8-13, not from musicians friend) and was very excited about them. I play in a heavy metal band that tunes to CDCF and my ernie ball super slinky 45s weren't cutting it, so I ordered these. I started putting them on and the tone was great. Once I put on the 4th string (C), it was just about tuned and it snapped. Maybe this was a fluke, but for someone that plays shows, this is completely unacceptable. To have a string designed for low tuning, not be able to tune to C is just ridiculous. No way these would tune any higher. I would avoid these. I ordered Ernie Ball power slinky 55s (same gauge as these DDTs)Cbass419
Sound: great sound. these strings are pretty bright sounding which is what i like, they almost sound like stainless strings, i dont know if they are but in drop c they sound very clear. Features: seem to have a small outer winding so that they are smoother than more rugged strings. Ease of Use: these strings are just like they say super stable so you can drop your action and play fast. Quality: the only problem i have with these strings is that the E string broke on me at the saddle of the bridge. it might have just been a lemon or something but i was in drop C so it didnt have hard tension on it and shouldnt have broken even with heavy picking. this was about two weeks after they were strung up. Value: these strings are expensive but then again theyre hand made so. . .
Really recommend these strings my bass has that twang I've been searching for but without taking anything from the deep basses sounds you want from your bass. When you are stuck in a groove these strings give you so many options to play around with sounds. I bought them for C standard tuning but I've been so happen with them I have learnt half my set list to suit these strings now just for an excuse to use them more. I have been playing these strings for over a year now, and I love them. My band plays tuned down with multiple alternate tunings, and these strings have never let me down. I always had a problem with string flutter, and could never get rid of the muddiness in my tone. These strings have totaly erased those problems. They are very stable, stay in tune, and are durable. Would never play anything else
This is my 7th set of DR brand strings and the first time a string has snapped from supposedly being to tightly wound, even though with all the strings on it wasn't even close to being up to tune. Although all the other strings made it there with out any issues. The string that snapped on mine was the 4th or "E" string. None the less DR makes the best strings you will EVER play.
Hi I'm a solo musician … i use a lot of looping during my set and there times when i like to tune my 4 string down to a B on the E strings when i create a bass line for looping and these strings can handle totally IT! they stay in pitch even when tuned down NO SLIPPING out of pitch, great for tuning down and using a synth effect pedal to get really FAT BASS tone.

Every guitar play would be happy with this turner. I have been using one of the older Korg tuners for over 20 years. My cousin needed a turner, so I gave mine to him and purchased this one for myself. The older on cost over $70.00 when I bought it and I was very happy with it. But the new has it really out classed at an increditably low price. All you have to do with this one is turn it on. It figures out for itself which string you are tuning. Great tuner. Well built and compact. Incredible value.
Simple version of Korg's more elaborate tuners. Very compact, works fine and cheap. Not many features but I like the ability to drop the standard tuning by half steps with a single button push – I keep one of my guitars tuned down a half step and this makes it easy. I have been playing for many years and used many Korgs. I also recommend it to beginners I run into. It's rather lightly built, so a little padded case would be useful but it does not come with one. I ordered these tuners to install as an upgrade on a Squier VM PJ bass. They looked beautiful and install was going well until I got to the one mismatched bushing that stopped me in my tracks. The OD was much larger, and it was plainly unlike the other three on visual inspection. I had to pack it all up and return it to GC. The guys at the Syracuse store were very accommodating and helpful in making the return and ordering a new set for me. Hopefully the next try will work out. GC staff gets an A for customer service. Functional tuners although on the heavy side which tends to cause a bit of neck dive. The American Special and others may require the larger tuner bushings which are not included. Don't know why there is not one size. The larger Mexican tuner bushings 005-1532-049 which are 18mm as opposed to the smaller ones which are included. Good drop-in replacement for MIM Standard basses. I have a MIM Precision bass I bought from someone who had upgraded all the parts, and then pulled them off before selling, so I needed new hardware. After trying a cheaper import set of tuners and finding they didn't quite fit without needing new holes, I decided to spend twice as much for these. I've played drop C for the last 4 years. In the past i would buy a pack of Ernie Ball five string set and chuck the thinnest string. This was my solution to never finding the set of gauges I really wanted, and being too poor to purchase a custom set in bulk. Enter the DDT series! First of all it's the perfect balance for even tension for drop C, they keep a lively tone for months without getting mucky and dull. Call me crazy, but I swear they just sound meaner and darker then any other string I've tried. If you are in drop c and playing a four string bass, there is no reason not to get these! These are the best strings for tuning down. I tune down to B standard and these work really well, but I would suguest these for if you're tuning down lower to A standard. I would probablly go with the DDT Heavy bass strings for B standard tuning instead of these. The B string seems a bit too massive a guage and might be over kill. I've had all kinds of tuners. Back in the old days, we didn't use tuners. Now they're in amps and it seems, everywhere else. I've tried the kind that clip on the head stock, the ones that lay on the floor, and the ones in the amps. I recently bought an ABY switch which has an additional output for a tuner and that solved my problem. This tuner has an in and no out. So, I just clip it to my music stand and I see it up high, don't have to look down to the floor, or back to the amp, or try to find it on my head stock. It's just right there on my music stand next to my music. Works super good. I have no need for chromatic so this has all the functionality required for my needs, and it is affordable. I like Korg brand name. It's automatic turn off saves battery life, and the battery life is huge to begin with. It has a dial as well as green and red (# & b) lights. I can keep my head held high and no one even knows I am using a tuner.Almost there
OK as a basic tuner. The 'sound' function produces a dire 'square-wave' tone which is difficult to match with a guitar's sound. Also, I should have noticed no 'output' socket so you can't leave it plugged in permanently. It uses AAA batteries which I've never had great faith in. Only a tenner, so reasonable value. No comparison to my old Boss TU80 which I've lost/had stolen; but this is only 1/4 the price.stace46
was looking for a tuner that can set the in tune display to 432hz, not 440, which is what it sounded like it could do, according to this spec description: Adjustable A430 to 450 Hz Calibration. But what this really means is there is a guide number on the tuner from 430 to 450 – which will not work for me. I need something I can see on a pedal board in a clear and simple way. I assumed that when I adjusted the frequency to 432, that would show in tune in the central position of the electronic needle. but that is not how it works. 432 appears several notches to the left of the central position, which is very hard to read when placed on my board (on the floor). It is lightweight which some may like but it also felt like something I would personally worry about breaking easily. If you are looking for a cheap tuner that tunes to 440, then I am sure this would work for you. Guessing this complaint only applies to a handful of people.

I was looking for a good tuner that would be small and not too expensive. I read many reviews and came to the conclusion that this is a very good product that offers precision and comfort with a small size. It doesn't need volume for tuning, only vibration and it is very convenient to place it on the neck of your instrument. For the price i think it does the job and it is definitely not lagging behind other more pricey tuners. The tuner is more suitable for guitarist for it has some tuning options when using capo. Overall i think this is a good product for the price. The only drawback is that it consumes a lot of battery life because of the display, so if you are using a tuner frequently, take into account that you will need many replacement batteries (but the batteries are very cheap on E-bay so not a big problem)Michael
