The guitar itself is quite nicely built, but the app, which is supposed to help your kids learn the chords etc. is demoralizingly bad. It's hard to explain to a 5 year old why, after following the daily items (tune your guitar, practice some chords etc.) they don't get the points for completion. As a software engineer, I fail to see why it's okay to leave this basic functionality broken. Furthermore, the app appears to be abandonware. I see no updates or fixes. The 'Games' section has been 'coming soon' for months. The app should be removed from the site as a selling point, since it is basically broken. Just be aware when you buy this guitar, the app is not going to work.Ben
My 6 year old really loves the thing. She strums it and goes to it often without prompt. She can’t really get her fingers down onto the fretboard to play a chord, but she knows that those cards are instructions. She carries them around and tries playing them with the guitar on a flat surface. She also still doesn’t have a great sense of the guitar as an instrument, that’s to be taken care of, and not banged around like a toy. I think by the time she’s 8, this thing will be perfect for her. If you guys made something a little more towards the toddler end of the spectrum, I’d pick it up in a heartbeat. I understand and greatly appreciate that you’ve scaled down a real electric guitar. Phenomenal concept. Greatly happy with it. If there was something a little more durable, and a little easier for little fingers to hold the notes, I’d pick that up for sure. Great idea, great product, pretty nice app.James C.
Bought a Loog mini for my 9y old. He seems to like Guitar and I can play a bit , but whenever we tried on my Ovation he got very frustrated. Heard about the Loog 3 string and it made sense to me. This guitar is a steal for the money. I pulled it out of the box and I saw no blemishes whatsoever. They packaged it well. And the redburst finish is gorgeous. First thing you want to do is change the strings, when I tried tuning the high E string it broke upon the first turn of the knob. I recommend putting on a set of D'Addario EXL120 strings for this electric guitar, I've been using them for 30 years. If you're looking for a nice electric guitar and amp package for your kid.. you can't beat this.John
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my son who is 12 and learning to the play the guitar. The amp stopped working after 4 months. I called guitar center and the person I spoke with said that he wasn't surprised because it is not a good product and does not recommend it. He wishes guitar center would stop selling it. So, here's the thing. I ordered this guitar pack because I had received gift cards from my employer. With no Target store near my town, the cards were stacking up so I bought this set. First off, this guitar is gorgeous! (I bought the Wine color). It played beautifully and I absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, it arrived damaged. The box was fine, the guitar was damaged in way that QA should have caught somewhere along the lines. I contacted Musician's Friend to see if they would simply send out a replacement guitar and they would have nothing to do with me because I bought it through a third party seller. Then I called Target to see if they could push a replacement from their end. Target support assured me that Musician's Friend would contact me within 48 hours. It's been 3 weeks and counting; still no contact. Obviously this vendor is unwilling to support their product. Shame too as I really fell in love with this guitar the moment I opened the box (except for the damage). Thankfully, Target was willing to reimburse me (back to a gift card) for the return and I went with another supplier. Would I recommend the product? Yes, but only if you can buy it directly from the supplier so they would stand behind it. But without a solid replacement provision, find a different beginner pack.CrashC

The body and neck were acceptable though they did require some expected work. The hardware furnished was of extremely poor quality, for example when I installed the tuners and tried to install the strings three of the tuners would not work forcing me to purchase new tuners to proceed with the project. After I tried to remove the strings after the tuners wouldn't function, three of the strings were stuck in the Tremolo Bridge. I purchased the electric guitar and amplifier for my child for Christmas he specifically asked for this particular one. It is Christmas Eve and I have put it together with batteries and it will not work. The amplifier does absolutely nothing when the guitar is plugged in nor does the microphone. I’m not a huge fan of the automatic off. It goes off after only a minute or two and you have to move the power switch back and fourth to start it up again. It would be better if pressing any key would reactivate after it goes into silent mode. My baby will go back and fourth between toys so I always have to get up and move the power switch for her. Lots of songs. You can choose country, blues and rock. My grandson loves to play the guitar and dance to the music. Tons of fun for toddlers. What I like the most is the auto-shut off. Toddlers will move to the next thing leaving battery operated toys on and batteries die very quickly.Ms J
The new Zoo Jamz Tiger Rock Guitar by VTech is so much fun to play with. There are so many different songs, melodies, and animal sounds to hear with 3 different guitar styles to choose from. It has a cute little whammy bar and string slider that make sound effects or plays melodies. There is even volume control which is awesome. Not every "session" doesn't need to be a rock concert and soft rock is a joy to listen to. I love that it teaches music, instruments, animals and sing along's. It really gets our little lady movin" and groovin'. She loves the animal songs and the whammy bar makes the animal sound while it plays. And the lights are a wonderful addition. It also shows 3 different genres of music. There is so much to do and listen to with this cute tiger guitar. It makes for hours of entertaining play.
