The Microphones, case and clips in the package are the kind of great product that you'd expect from Shure. The mike cables on the other hand aren't what you'd want to use for a pro gig. I bought this package and have been using the mikes for over a year and they' ve been everything you could want. I gave the cables to a guy that I didn't like. Poor Guy! The wires were cheap, thin and unlabeled stuff and the connectors were so cheap that there was no country of origin on them. I guess nobody wanted to take the blame. This package is absolutely perfect. The case is built like a tank, each mic comes with its own cable, which aren't bad. Each mic also comes with its own windscreen and clip. When I got mine, they didn't have the stock windscreens so they threw in some other ones which don't fit on mine, but the ones it comes with probably do. The clips are heavy duty. All the mics are of the highest quality for that price. Well, I was very impressed with the sound quality of my voice using the Shure Beta 57a. Even though many recording engineers use this mic as an instrument (guitar) mic I think it is also a great vocal mic as well. Now, I just recently used it for my Zoom meetings. I have always used the standard SM58 for my vocals and have also strongly suggested that others in bands that I've been in use it also. In terms of sound, having that quality, consistent sound was important to me. It made doing sound from the stage a lot easier. A friend of mine who is a sound engineer suggested that I try using a Beta 57 for my vocals in particular because he was having a tough time getting my vocals to come through the mix as much as he wanted. I hesitated but figured that since it was so similar to the SM58 that I could probably 'bend' the rules a bit and buy a Beta 57 to throw into the mix. I think he was right and here's why: because everything about the Beta 57 sounds as good as the 58 – *BUT* I think it is just a little "hotter" and as a result my vocals have been a bit more present in the mix. I suspect that is a combination of my mouth being slightly closer to the mic capsule (as the wind screen is flatter and closer) and maybe since it is a "Beta" model unit – the mic capsule itself might be a bit hotter. Regardless – it is a quality mic – just as you would expect if you are used to the legendary SM58. One last note: I actually removed the little blue ring around the windscreen because I wanted to keep the mics on stage looking as similar as possible. (silly I know) I'm from Minnesota – and we have a reputation as being "plain folks" up here. Having that showy "tell tale" blue ring around the windscreen just screams "ostentatious show-off!" Well, I was very impressed with the sound quality of my voice using the Shure Beta 57a. In terms of sound, having that quality, consistent sound was important to me. It made doing sound from the stage a lot easier. A friend of mine who is a sound engineer suggested that I try using a Beta 57 for my vocals in particular because he was having a tough time getting my vocals to come through the mix as much as he wanted. I hesitated but figured that since it was so similar to the SM58 that I could probably 'bend' the rules a bit and buy a Beta 57 to throw into the mix. I think he was right and here's why: because everything about the Beta 57 sounds as good as the 58 – *BUT* I think it is just a little "hotter" and as a result my vocals have been a bit more present in the mix. I suspect that is a combination of my mouth being slightly closer to the mic capsule (as the wind screen is flatter and closer) and maybe since it is a "Beta" model unit – the mic capsule itself might be a bit hotter. Regardless – it is a quality mic – just as you would expect if you are used to the legendary SM58. One last note: I actually removed the little blue ring around the windscreen because I wanted to keep the mics on stage looking as similar as possible. (silly I know) I'm from Minnesota – and we have a reputation as being "plain folks" up here. Having that showy "tell tale" blue ring around the windscreen just screams "ostentatious show-off!" I upgraded from gaming headphones to a hi-fi setup. The audio quality was amazing when I switched to my new amp/dac and AKG headphones. I was missing a mic. I decided to go with this over any boom mic / stand mic to save space. The mic is great! The sound quality is equal or even better than gaming headphone mics. If you are attaching these to your hi-fi headphones, I do suggest carefully following the instructions on how to get the adhesive on. If your headphones have a mesh (open backs) I would suggest using a hairdryer to heat up the adhesive to help it mold. Take the microphone off the clip and stick it on. Don't touch for 24 hours! This is the most important part. Only downside is I wish the adhesive was easier to get on, I had to get extra adhesive because it messed up. The battery life is really good. One overnight charge lasts me at least 6-8 hours at minimum!
Antlion has always had good quality mics for their size, price, and versatility (yes, there are better Mics out there, but not for this price/size/versatility). This is no different. My wife is using it, oddly enough, not as an addition to her headset but as a lapel mic for when she does a cooking stream. It works far better than the supposdely purpose-built lapel mic she bought from Amazon for a lot more. Good quality, good build quality, extremely versatile placement options (due to the magnet system, you could even make this thing into a stand mic if you wanted). Recommended. The Microphones, case and clips in the package are the kind of great product that you'd expect from Shure. The mike cables on the other hand aren't what you'd want to use for a pro gig. I bought this package and have been using the mikes for over a year and they' ve been everything you could want. I gave the cables to a guy that I didn't like. Poor Guy! The wires were cheap, thin and unlabeled stuff and the connectors were so cheap that there was no country of origin on them. I guess nobody wanted to take the blame. This package is absolutely perfect. The case is built like a tank, each mic comes with its own cable, which aren't bad. Each mic also comes with its own windscreen and clip. When I got mine, they didn't have the stock windscreens so they threw in some other ones which don't fit on mine, but the ones it comes with probably do. The clips are heavy duty. All the mics are of the highest quality for that price. If you were to buy all of these things separately, then you'd be out at least $200 more than you would be if you bought theos package.My only wish is that thre were three 57s and three 58s, but I'm not comlaining. I knew I wanted an aftermarket mike for my IC-7100 and this fits the bill. I got lots of recommendations, but due to ICOM's unique microphone circuitry, anything but an ICOM mike will need an adapter cable. Truth be told, this does too: 8-pin to modular plug, but I didn't worry about it. Ordered this for our church. Mostly vocals and some speech. Mic is a fantastic upgrade from our older model Shure BG3.1 mics. I know we had these for a long while but this sm58s sounds fantastic and made a huge difference in clarity and crispness. I was told the Shure sm58 is one of the best all general purpose mics for sound quality and build and so far (a few months now) I couldn't agree more! As far as the switch goes, our old mics had them so I kept them the same but I seem to like having the switch in the event you don't have someone at the sound board you can set it up and just switch on when needed. Also bought this in a bundle with a boom stand and mic cable which was a good value. If your in the market for a great all purpose mic def check this bundle out. You won't be disappointed! This microphone is the gold standard for vocal recording, and I can't believe that I used anything else before now. What's the secret to the sauce? While besides the decades of experience backed by the Shure name, this microphone features a VERY defined cardioid pickup pattern. What's a cardioid? Why do I care? If you're asking these questions, I'll simplify it by saying this: if you're recording in a situation where you want the least amount of background noise, this is the pattern for you. Especially vocal recordings, podcasters, and the like, will enjoy the dynamic range that won't clip or cut out at loud sounds like you do with condenser microphones. The pickup range is not directional, but you do need to be conscious of distance, as I'm sure you'll find once you start using it. I did use this microphone plugged into an audio interface into my computer, so that may have introduced a tiny bit of noise, but I was blown away by the results I got from recording. This is nothing like the lower cost and less dedicated microphones I have used in the past. Very well made, as you would expect from a microphone at this price point, and the frequency response modes are set by sliders on the back of the mic. The mounting and cable connector are set up for a boom arm or a stand. Because of the integrated pop filter cover for this microphone I toyed with the idea of using it without a pop filter, but I think i'm just too "spitty" for that, so I've shifted to using one. But once I had more money I bought my SM58 since I knew how much of a classic mic it is. It was a great decision I solely use it now and it sounds great and so clean. I have a small room and have a lot of background noise (a loud portable AC, an air purifier, my TV). Even though I don't have program installed to adjust the mic sensitivity, my voice is apparently clear and crisp to my listeners. I love that you can make any headphone into a headset with the magnetic attachment for the mic. The mic boom is short and doesn't reach the front of my mouth and the feedback I get from other people is that my voice is still heard. I also bought the Antlion sound card for $10 along with this mic. I recommend this mic if you don't want a larger mic with a boom attachment or if you want to utilize any of your already-paid-for headphones.Lanz J
I have encountered problems with the volume being too low even after changing all my settings. The audio quality is mediocre and similar to a microphone headset at half the price. In addition, the attachment adhesive doesn't work for some surfaces so setting it up can be painful. If you require decent or better sound quality, look elsewhere as this is poor for the price but if you mainly need portability and convenience then you'll have a fine time.
I didn't even get to use the product. The adhesive for the pads weren't sticky at all and just fell off within the first minute of usage after curing for 4 hours. Cleaning the area to place it on with the supplied pad that supposedly had alcohol on it was just a regular cloth pad that had nothing on it. Don't recommend getting anything from this company, you only get two pads.
