Reviews:
Sound: As for a hard plastic bass case, it has a dead thump when I hit it. Features: The luggage- style wheels make it essential for schlepping through airports. Ease of Use: P-bass fits snugly. Enough compartment space for boss tuner, cables, set of tools. Flew over to the UK and currently on a Euro tour. Very lightweight. So far, working great. Quality: It's the same hard plastic used in pelican cases. It is made for tour and overseas travel. One seam does not appear to mate very well, but you can hear the air being pushed out when you shut it. The seam is my only complaint. Value: Expensive, but I think this will be a worthy investment. The Wow Factor: You might only get a better case if it is custom made, but encased in the pelican material.
I have had an Open Cavity iSeries Bass Case for 4.5 years. I have flown with it about half a dozen times, but the main way I use it is in the back of the equipment truck. In that regard, it has been on nearly a thousand gigs. It has a few scratches, and I replaced the wheels at around the three year mark (replaced with solid wheels instead of 2 piece), but beyond that-it is going strong. For reference, I play a Sadowsky 5-24. I liked this case enough that when I bought a second bass to take on the road, I ordered one of these, except in the P/J configuration since the new bass (Fender Precision 5) did not fit in the open cavity case. If it doesn't fit in the P/J case, I'll be returning it.Cam
This is my second SKB universal ata heavy duty case. It fits my larger Jackson 7 string sl7 pro and my Jackson dinky pro 7 string with reverse headstock due to large open area at headstock allowing for most any headstock orientation. A towel or shirt under guitar aligns neck to sit well in supportive neck channel. A shirt on top keeps guitar from moving around. Sturdy case with reasonable weight, I believe this SKB ata universal case is as sturdy as a few 1/4" guitar roadcases I've previously had without the excess weight. A heavy case gets tiring fast, that is why I buy the SKB shock mount roadcases for rack mount gear as well. The SKB are heavier duty and made of thicker and stronger plastic than a few Gator cases I had and sold off.kb

Reviews:
There are several grades of gig bags on the market, from thin vinyl carry cases all the way up to heavy-duty leather gig bags with high-grade zippers, plush interiors and ripstop nylon. This particular gig bag falls in the middle of the pack, with quality nylon (but not ripstop) with reinforced edges, a decent if not very deep amount of padding, and smooth nylon fabric interior (not plush), and a decent if not heavy-duty zipper. The straps are well-sewn and reinforced, which is really the critical thing at this price range. If you're gigging 5 nights a week you might want to look at SKB's more expensive offerings, but if you're occasionally jamming and going to lessons etc, this gig bag is more than adequate.brilliant514
Overall: This bag was purchased along with an Ibanez SR300M, with the goal being a lightweight package that I could easily grab and throw in the truck for practices and open mic's. The combination is perfect for exactly that, and now it's both a backup and gigging bass that is working well for me.The bag itself is hard to fault. It doesn't provide the protection of a hard case, but then again it doesn't weigh nearly as much and isn't nearly as awkward to get in and out of cars or loading in. It's equipped with backpack style straps and a couple handles like most similar bags, so it's easy to carry around. Everything looks solidly constructed, and the interior has reinforcement around the peghead to keep the strings and tuners from ripping up the innards. Plenty of storage space for cords, notebooks, picks, pencils, etc. The zippers appear to be substantial enough, and they have nice big grippers on them. I've had the case out in the rain and it seems to provide enough protection against that, although I wouldn't go as far as to say that it's submersible or waterproof. For the price, it's a very good deal. I'd bought the combination to have a cheap bass and bag, and both have far exceeded my expectations.I should also put in a good word for zZounds. They've been phenomenally easy to work with, and I'd definitely buy online through them again.Paul
I bought this bag to be the nest of my Squier 70's vibe Jazz bass. First, the fit was perfect. I didn't break a sweat trying to put the bass I nor did it danced around inside during transport. The materials are high quality and looks and feel very well made. It has two compartments with enough space for cables, tools, notebook, etc. All in all, a cost-effective, space-saving, cool-looking gig bag from SKB. Highly recommend it!Carlos

4. Skb 1skb-44rw Roto Electric Bass Case

Reviews:
I used this case for a 4hr flight, and it protected my bass well. No problem fitting my bulky Yamaha BB515 with room to spare to slip other stuff into the case. It is easy to use, in that you just stick your gig bag in, and the wheels are convenient for long treks. It's also pretty light and easy to maneuver. I did not like the fact the case's odd shape means that it won't stand or lean against anything upright. So, while in the long airport line I had to either continuously hold the case up on the wheels, which is awkward while managing a suitcase; or lay it down completely as in the picture, and then pick it up again when the line moved on-which was also a bit of a hassle. In the end, the case does it's job for a good price.bass iks
I really was excited to think that I might could avoid the heavy flight case with this SKB creation. However, I had a bass damaged by TSA due to the flawed design of the SKB case. The TSA person failed to properly reinsert the gig bag into the case after inspection and forced the two lids together damaging the headstock of my jazz bass. I was less than happy when I found the result of the carelessness of the TSA employee. I should have seen it coming due to the design of the case. SKB should build one for the bass like they did the acoustic and guarantee the contents up to $1500. Until then, I wouldn't recommend this case.

If you are willing to spend big dollars on a special bass, this is the case to protect your "baby". SOLID – 4 quality latches and a handle placed to balance your item while in hand. I just received this case today, I was very skeptical about it because every picture on the net has a Fender P bass in the case? This case fits the Fender American Standard Jazz bass so perfectly well, that you'd think to yourself, "how did they get that P bass to fit?" The only reason I said it is bulky, is simply because it's about 4 inches longer than my fender hard case.. but let's be honest, the sheer quality and construction far surpasses any inconvenience there is. This case is by far the best case I've ever owned or seen period! WELL WORTH THE MONEY you'll pay for it. Once you get it, take it from me… you'll say to yourself, "I would've given MORE for this case" Buy it!!!! you won't be sorry!!!!! (and it looks even better with my "Trust Jesus" bumper sticker on it:-) Also the storage is very good… as you can see, 1 strap, 2 sets of strings in boxes, 1 guitar cord, and my favorite tuner. As you can see, it all fits with room to spare!

Reviews:
TSA Case was exactly what I ordered, barely used, maybe handled with gloves the first time, nary a scratch. It arrived in a large shipping carton with enough packing to float a fleet. No worries, saved it all, will reuse the big box and the heavy duty bubble wrap. ProAudioStar rocks!schwarzstop
Purchased one of these about six years ago and it has been the case my main bass occupies ever since. Hinges open smoothly, latches swing freely and secure tightly, and the valence closes good and tight. It's been on a couple domestic flights and I've had no problems with security or damage. The only downside is it's a little bit bulky, but I'm ok with that because of the protection it offers. If you're traveling frequently or just want to protect your baby, I'd highly recommend this case.Chris
This case has served its purpose well, although within the first week that I had it the top side got warped noticably and the ends do not fit together snuggly. Not sure what happened, it was never just sitting in the heat. There is a small but obvious gap on either short end in the seal when it is closed, but the clasps still work perfectly. It still holds my p-bass well and works great as an in-town travel case (ie- local shows and band practice..) but I would never put my bass on a plane in this case. I would invest in a heavy duty flight case. so.. it is in general a good case, minus the warping tendency, and is perfect for local needs.BJ

Reviews:
I was going to get the SKB-6 but did not like that it does not have body contours to hold the guitar body snug. This SKB-66 has nice contours that do hold the guitar body snug. The neck support section was a little tight at first. But then I realized the softest part of this case is down the middle of the top lid where the lid touches the neck and strings. That section appears the same as the rest but indeed has a semi firm/soft foam so it does not squash the neck and strings but holds the Pacifica snug with no wobble room at all. Even with the case latch closed I can push in and flex the case in that area. No pressure on the 5 way switch or knobs. I was a little skeptical of the fit prior to purchase because the Pacifica has a slightlt different body shape from a Fender Strat. But, it fits just right. Latches seem sturdy. This is my second SKB ABS case. The first one is still holding strong after 18+ years with a Tele style guitar in it.Sasquach
I have another SKB rectangular Case that has the Fender logo embossed with the TSA locks. That case fits my Strat and Tele much better. This case is a bit lighter but still nice quality, however, the neck support is so high in the case that when you place your guitar in the case, the whole guitar sits at an angle. The headstock lifts up out of the case as the body drops in. When you close the lid, the pressure forces the headstock down and the body up putting undue stress on the neck of the guitar. When I think "universal" case, I would expect it to fit a traditional Strat and Tele, but it does not.Don
I bought this for a Charvel Predator, and was worried what I was going to be receiving for the price, since I have received some pretty crappy ones only a little cheaper than this one. When I got it and opened it up, I couldn't have asked for anything more. This is the highest quality case I have ever bought. There is tons of storage inside. I originally bought it to ship a guitar safely out to Mike Learn for a paint job, but this case will be one I will keep forever. BUY THIS NOW!!! I may be buying one or two more for other guitars I have.simplydirectproducts

I received one of these cases with me Fender American Elite Shawbucker Stratocaster. I've loved the case, no problems and has alot of protection. I decided to buy a "beater" Fender Player Strat that I didn't have to worry as much about as my other premium guitars. It unfortunately does not come with a case. I was a little worried it wouldn't fit the same, but it's perfect. This case can definitely take a beating and protect your precious guitar. I highly recommend this case if you need a case for a Stratocaster.Michael
This case fit my MIJ Jazzmaster like a dream! I was able to get a discount with Musician's Friend as the previous case I was going to buy was on backorder. This case has far better specs than the SKB case I was going to buy and its well worth the money. Supports the neck properly, and has a nice compartment. The only thing I wish this case had more of was I wish the compartment was big enough to fit extra pickguards. Its a minor gripe and still has plenty of room for tuners, strings, picks, and the trem arm. Bottom Line: If you have a Jazzmaster that you're going to travel with or you want to keep it safe, then this is a must buy!Tim
I WISH they made this case for a Mustang bass. I love this style because it's fits my vintage 1980's Squier Japanese Jazz bass AND modern Fender Precision bass. Fits the instruments like a glove! Large internal pocket for accessories also a win win. I like it so much that I purchased two. Make one for JMJ Mustang bass and I'll gladly purchase it.

Purchased this case for my Fender Precision Bass. Mostly, will be kept in my studio, and occasionally on a few short gigs. Case seems sturdy, and I like the compartment size suitable for a strap, cable, etc. Also features a locking latch which is very handy. Pricewise, its a very nice case for my needs, without going into more expensive flight cases for touring. Very satisfied and should last for quite a while. Would buy this product again. Cheers!penlan-6941-us
Decent case for the money. Dimensions are a little off from whats advertised. Lower bout width is around 13-1/4 instead of 13-1/2 so my BC Rich Eagle fits a little snug. Overall, no more than I use it, itll work. Sure beats paying $300 for the actual BC Rich case. Also, if your headpiece sets at a steeper angle, it will put pressure on the headpiece. Depth is more for a Fender style headpiece.xv1700at3

Product Details:
This molded guitar case for electric bass guitars is built road-tough and features a plush interior lining – heavy-duty hardware – interior accessory compartment – and locking fasteners. – fits most electric bass guitars – abs molded construction – ergonomic matching handle – reinforced bottom – plush padded interior with accessory compartment

The molded ABS Exterior is very nice and suggests quality. But the substructure seems flimsy and is subject to some twisting and torque. The interior is very minimalist. It has a layer of black plush padding, but there is no compartment for picks, tuners or other accessories though there is plenty of room for one. The plush padding is very thin and seems cheap. The buckles and handle look and feel cheap. There is a velcro strap to secure the neck, but it looks cheap and not very well secured. It could use a 2nd velcro neck strap for better stability. I'd be concerned about a traveling with a heavy Strat or Telecaster in this case, or flying anywhere, as it may be too much for the case to handle after a while. Basically it's a low end case – but with an ABS Exterior. In my opinion it is not worth the regular price and is only worth considering at the sale price.Gary
I received this just a few days ago after purchasing a used one on clearance through MF. I bought it for a Sire P7 5-string, which it fits perfectly. It arrived in great shape, just about like new, with the exception of a couple of tiny nicks/scuffs you have to look pretty hard to find. The case is literally identical in every meaningful way to the Road Runner ABS bass case, which I have two of for other basses. The only difference is the interior of the Road Runner case is gray, while the MG is black. Materials feel exactly the same, cutouts are exactly the same, dimensions are identical, it has the retaining strap for the neck, and everything externally is completely identical, except that it doesn't say "Road Runner" on it. Having toured extensively with the Road Runner version, I have no doubt that this case will hold up just fine to light touring. I think I even flew with it once, but I wrapped a couple of straps around the outside, "gate checked" it and kept an eye on it. One of the ABS "extrusions/bumpers", for lack of a better descriptor, of the RR version cracked after some use use, but otherwise it has held up well. I expect the MG variety will do the same. For the price difference, it's a no-brainer. Get the MG. They're exactly the same in every way that matters. As long as you're not flying regularly with it, or allowing drunken roadies to toss it roughly into the back of a bus or trailer, it will hold up just fine.Bass Fella
Had my eye on one of these for a long time, so I finally pulled the trigger and glad I'm did. This case will suit my needs nicely. Fits 26.5" scale Jackson Dinky or Soloist almost perfectly. The headstock just barely grazes the plush lining, and it is not obstructed or pressed against the floor of the case. I couldn't ask for a much better fit. This case will be used for general transport to and from rehearsals, and I have no doubt that it will excel in that. However, I must agree with some other reviews here in regards to road-worthiness. I would not happily rely on this case to protect my axes from the rigors of a grueling world tour, but it's perfect for the hometown hero or simple transport. The outer ABS shell is flimsier than a real deal SKB, but seems sufficiently durable and decent for the price range. The interior is very soft, and cradles my instruments nicely. The security neck strap is a nice touch. Storage areas flanking the neck have plenty of room for a strap and other accessories, but no lids means keeping a trem bar there could be a little risky. I've found a pack of D'Addarios fits in the spaces nicely however, kind of making a makeshift lid, so there is that. The hardware on the outside of the case is sufficient, but not great. Things lock into place well enough, but when not locked they are pretty loose feeling. I'm confident they'll hold up, but I'm not blown away. The aluminum channels around the sides fit together well enough once locked, but I'm sure its not waterproof. There is an audible "click" when closing the case from the aluminum channels kind of snapping into place on the back. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. I got this case for a very stupid deal.(MF's Reward program ROCKS) For the price I paid, I am thrilled with it. However, the story would likely be a bit different had I paid full price. Make no mistake, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it that I have found.. it's just… adequate. But overall, Happy with my purchaseSkinnedpuppy

I had a cheaper dual gig bag that I had used for years to get to gigs. But as I got better, my basses got a little higher end and I wanted better protection for them. I had previously purchased a single Mono M80 on a whim and was using that for transport to practice when I usually only need the one bass. It's worked well and held up so I'm sure this dual model will too. I also got the "Tick" to pack-in my necessary cables and gear in one swoop. I can move it between my single M80 for practice and my dual for the gig eliminating the need to bring in my duffle bag of gear. That can stay put in the car with my spares until needed, freeing up a hand for the amp. Mono seems to be a good brand and I trust it to protect what's top end for my budget; my Stingray 5 and my American Deluxe Jazz V.Zeta05
Excellent Bag! Excellent quality!! This bag will last you a life time. My only concern is that it gets very very heavy when you put two basses into it. Right now it is holding two older MM Stingrays, and the bag weighs a ton! It's not a bag that I would constantly carry with me. Despite weight issues its a great bag!Ferd

Overall: Ordered this for my fender aerodyne strat. Box was dry… But inside the case was wet…not damp, wet. They keys that come inside the case were rusted. Also, don't buy this if you have an aerodyne. It doesn't fit properly. The body was tight but the neck was suspended about a half inch over the neck support.Jacob
Overall: I purchased this case for my custom shop Strat and I must say, this case is real nice. Holds the guitar snug And supports the instrument in all critical areas to prevent damage while shipping or flight. Honestly, you could probably throw this thing off the top of your house and it wouldn’t even damage it at all. Storage compartment is generous, I currently have three petals and a bunch of other accessories with room to spare. Overall this is a really solid case for the money and I definitely trust my $3500 instrument in it. Other things to mention, there are dual locks, six places for padlocks and wheels on this case. This thing is built like a tank, you will not be disappointed if you’re looking for durability. I highly recommend this to anyone who travels with their guitar a lot. If you sit at home and your guitar sits in the closet a lot it’s probably overkill..Norman
Hi, I just ordered two of these one for a strat and one for a tele, Both are extremely tight fitting for current guitars especially the neck area. The case will not work with the tele as shipped. You will need to cut out a spot in the lid for the last knob. I have to use as I don't have time for a change or I would return. Otherwise case seems OK. Also the padding is hard foam with a very thin layer of material.

Overall: I received this out of the Mississippi Warehouse. It was dinged in several placed along the seam that connects both sides. The bottom had a gap just shy of 1/4 inches and even with the 5 latches closed the gap was there. It only has 2 hinges! major stupid idea. This is for a wide guitar Duh. Three hinges pleaseBrett
I have a PRS S2 singlecut standard that PRS is still working on getting a case designed to fit, I was told by their support that it should be ready within the next year or so, I was not going to wait so I tried many cases of different brands. I got this case for an awesome price ($115 plus free shipping). It's a good sturdy case with TSA latches, I did have to pad the lower bout which I was expecting to do anyway, but for the price and for the protection of my investment I am extremely pleased.truefret2

Great case, built like a tank. Perfect for travel or moving. Not light. Use soft case for short travels or gigs.shop-8053
I needed a hard case for my new PRS S2 Custom 24. I first ordered a Gator "wide body" because of the low price. Uh, no thanks. Very lightweight and I had to push the top down to get the guitar to fit in the case. Returned it. Well, since the PRS model case was a bit pricey and I could buy a heavy duty SKB for just a bit more cash, I went with the SKB. It is of superb quality and I would trust it to protect my PRS if I were lost at see in a lifeboat, run over by a Mack truck, attacked by a gorilla, or just about any other disaster. It is incredibly sturdy, water proof, four latches, including two TSA locks, and the guitar fits in it perfectly with a rather large storage area for your "other stuff". Drawback, however, is that it is significantly larger and heavier than the standard Strat-type case. It even has handles on three sides and wheels on one end! No kidding! If I were going to transport my guitar by plane or truck, or do some heavy road gigging, this would be the unit all the way. If not, I think I would opt for a more "standard type case". That pretty much leaves you with one choice – the PRS case that is made for the guitar. Not nearly as sturdy and expensive for what you get, but certainly more practical. Hope this helps. P.S. I gave it 5 stars because this case certainly fits its description and is of premium quality.Reeder

This case is advertised as a universal guitar case. However, I wonder which universe the guitars come from that fit this case. I own a 1966 Gibson Melody Maker, a 1980's model Kramer Focus 3000 and a BC Rich Mockingbird. While I've read others here say Fender Strats fit the case, the Kramer Focus 3000 I own has a strat type body and the case isn't designed to fit the body. I didn't really think it would work with the Mockingbird. But,it really disappointed me when the only way I could get the Melody Maker to fit into the case, was to squeeze it in. This particular Melody Maker is a double cut model, similar to an SG. This case has nice pockets. It appears to be well constructed. If you can find a guitar that fits this "universal" case, it might be a good value.
I really like this soft case. The Good: The hard foam shell gives a nice level on protection that many soft cases don't have. It's lightweight with good carry option and plenty of pockets that are the right size. Some have complained about the fit, but it's worked fine for everything I've tried in it. The Bad: construction. After just a couple months the side seams near the backpack straps are ripping out. I tend to be pretty careful with gear, so this hasn't been abused. If I baby it, it may last a while longer. I had a second case on order, but it got back ordered. I've canceled it and won't be buying another one. I'd gladly recommend it if it was sturdy enough.Boogie2
My second purchase and review of this high quality gig bag. Made for strats and teles. I've not seen a better value in a gig bag! Combines the compactness and over the shoulder convenience of a gig bag (frees both hands up) with the superior protection of a hardshell case. Plenty of useful outer pockets and a lid for the interior storage area so stuff doesn't move around. SKB has made an important refinement: on my first gig bag the screws that fasten the outer layer were too narrow and a few eventually came loose. They've put new type screws on and they appear more sturdy and less likely to loosen. I use this gig bag about every day for teaching and gigging. I'm not gentle with my stuff-tossing gear around to get where I'm going. Puts up with my abuse and keeps my guitars safe!strat98
