Reviews:
I use the product for practicing & recording and possibly for gigs. Loud, very clean sound. Works well with the DV MARK 4×12 which has some odd resonant frequencies. Works well with my other cabs too. Takes pedals well. However, I may cover the amp title for gigs. Raw dawg is cool for bars, but maybe not for schools or church. Piece of electrical tape should cover it up fine if needed.Edwin
after telling the sales person what was wrong with the amp head…he try to compair it as it was a car."once i drive it off the lot" he said. i had to remine him of the return policy.again they treat people like we are dumb. i do not have an amp head and NOW I HAVE TO WAIT FOR TWO CREDITS TO MY ACCOUNT!………I bought this amp head..two weeks later it went up on me…not sure if i want to get another one.guitarman

Reviews:
I’ve been using the same solid state mg30cfx since I started playing. I purchased this along with the Marshall 1×12 speaker cabinet. This amp makes playing so much more enjoyable and I’ve finally found the tones I’ve been missing over the years. It’s great for in the house at the .1 watt setting. At full 1 watt it definitely makes my neighbors hate me. The foot switch and effects loop is definitely a plus for me. I’d recommend it to anybodyTim
Overall: The DSL1CR is so good that I sold my other practice amps and bought two of these. They sound awesome. I play mostly hard rock, and the tubes sound amazing. They take pedals great! It has an effects loop too, and the built in reverb sounds good. To be honest, I had to send one back, as it was cutting in an out, but zZounds sent me one as soon as UPS verified that it had been returned. Marshall and zZounds Roooock!
I bought this amp as a practice amp to keep in a house that I'm remodeling. I'm running through an old early 2000's marshall MG 4 x 12 cab that I had laying around. I love the high gain channel…its got that great marshall dirt from the 80's type sound. The normal channels can get you that ZZ Top type of blues overdrive if that's what your after. I'm not crazy about the clean sounds, but nobody really buys a marshall for cleans anyways. The digital reverb is pretty decent as well. It's really nice to have the effects loop as well. Overall, a great little amp!Kevin

Not only does this 5 watt lil' monster have enough power to rattle the windows, it also has class! At only 9 lbs. the Bugera T5 Infinium has enough "UMFF" to push your favorite 4X12" cabinet into the stratosphere! It's better having this reverb built into this lil' madman than not having any at all. Just like 9/10 of the other amp heads in its class. The 1 channel, "all tube" head has warm cleans. Push in the PHAT switch and crank the volume and gain and you get saturated distortion that will blow you away! All of that in a 9 lb metal cage like package for only $200! You won't find another 5 W head with all of that for this price. I love my T5 Infinium from Bugera!brmul-8207
What it's not: Not a $1k boutique tube amp. Not a mid-size club amp (unless you have great monitors and a good sound guy). What it is: A well designed, very affordable little monster that will give enough stage volume at 5W for rehearsals in a full rock band or small club, and will also allow you to drive the output stage at that 1W or 1/2W setting for recording at home. The amp sounds best at 5W and driven into either a 4ohm cabinet or two 8ohm cabs. If you use it to drive an 8ohm cab, you are getting only 70% of its potential. I only use el84 based amps. i love their dark, throaty sound, and while this amp doesn't have the punch or snap I get from my 15W custom built el 84 amps, it sounds great for rehearsal or recording. I am a little bit worried about long-term build quality. The input jack is plastic. I have a hard time seeing that surviving a year of rehearsals without breaking. This is a great supplemental amp for rehearsals and recording. Very smartly designed. Good feature set. And if you like the el84 style sound, it delivers it above expectations at this price range. I'm thinking of getting a second one.klktrk
In these days of small solid state, practice amps, this little amp gives you tube tone and more at a very affordable price. A 12ax7 preamp tube and an EL84 power tube provide the tone along with built in reverb, 2 band EQ, gain and a "phat" overdrive switch for added crunch. The three stage attenuator is a nice touch. The stock Bugera tubes are OK but I switched them out with Tung-Sols which provided a rich creamy overdrive more to my liking. Great sound when plugged into my Orange 8" or 12" cab plus headphone jack for late night playing. Great amp for the price!Isom
4. Randall Rd1h Diavlo 1-Watt Tube Guitar Amp Head
Product Details:
Pristine, barely used. still have the box the book everything it came with down to the little silica bag. this is the perfect practice amp for metal. all tube-class-a you wont believe what a full sound you get at low volume. its a thick saturated sound with tone cap toggle switch along with tone knob. this is just a 1 channel amp and not really built for clean tones although you can, you wont want to. i played this through 2 8 inch crate speakers and it sounded awesome- i a/b'd it with my bugera all tube and no comparison if u want chug. im selling it cuz i play more blues. btw the color of the amp is gray- its not dusty. just lowered the price to as low is its gonna go just to cut all the bs.

Overall: I run this into a Bugera ts1x12 with a WGS veteran 30 @16ohm and a Joyo vintage overdive in front. Very surprising how versatile the tone knob is with the different tone stack switches. Despite what people say this amp can do clean. You have to turn the volume up high and use the gain as a volume. It even says this in the manual. I have a Bugera G5 that does cleans very well so I don't worry about that. Before I even turned it on I swapped out the 2 12ax7 preamp tubes for a pair of matching Tung-sol 12ax7s so I can't speak to the sound of the stock ruby tubes. I am using a dean VX with guitarheads hexbuckers and a ephiphone strat with hsh pickups (guitarheads z-buckers and a no name dual rail single coil in the middle). It is a 1w amp so don't expect it to sound as loud as a bigger amp. I play about half way on the volume knob and that is plenty loud for my apartment and it has plenty of low end chunk at that volume. The overdrive just gives it a little sizzle but you don't really need it. For the money there is no better small tube head for metal or rock. The Bugera G5 retubed with Tung-sol pre and JJ power tube comes close but this is just thicker sounding distortion. I will never sell it.David
I bought it on impulse during Black Friday and I'm so glad I did. I had been looking to get a tube amp and at the price this thing went for it was a no brainer. But price aside this amp sounds great. I was looking for a high gain metal amp and this fit the bill. I only have combo amps which means I do not have a speaker cab to hook this too but I used the midi out and hooked it to my PC using an audio interface. The high gain sounds are tight, clear and perfect for modern heavy rock/metal. I do plan to get a speaker cab for it, however for recording rock/metal it is so easy to use and I personally love using a real amp to record with instead of a software plug in to emulate the high gain sound. It's also small enough to sit on my PC desk.Supergoat94
I picked this amp up hoping it would be a nice quieter tube-amp option. Randall is known for high-gain, and even at just 1 watt, this amp has gain for days. In fact, that was one of my knocks against it, i had a hard time dialing in a nice clean sound. The breakup happens very early in the pre-amp stage, so if you're looking for anything resembling a clean tone, this amp doesn't excel there. It would be great for the metal player that can't crank up a 30, 50, or 100 watt tube amp in their apartment, but you need high-gain tones. Overall, i wasn't as impressed with this amp as i am with the Positive Grid Spark 40. Two different beasts, but the Spark 40 has way more value to me in this product range.Tanner's Favorite Things
5. Mesa Boogie Jp-2c John Petrucci Head
Product Details:
The jp-2c 100w guitar tube head from mesa/boogie is the signature head from dream theater's john petrucci. also a reissue of the legendary mark iic+, the jp-2c is a next-generation version of the classic amp head with an enhanced features set that is the result of three decades of collaboration between mesa/boogie and john petrucci. the jp-2c is stripped down to the bare essentials with a focus on efficiency. it's a purpose-built, no-compromise rendering that aims to deliver the most aggressive, purest sounding iic+ ever in a versatile package. featuring the highest headroom clean sound possible, a crunch rhythm with lead channel gain available and a boogie lead channel with access to even more saturation, the jp-2c offers the versatility modern players require. this three-channel head foregoes the concept of multiple voicing modes, and instead dedicates each of the three channels exclusively to circuit voicing's of the mark iic+, plus shred mode, which enhances the top-end harmonic layering of the original lead circuit even further. channel 1 is dedicated to clean tones and is optimized for the maximum headroom possible in the preamp section. channel 2 is the jp-2c's crunch generator and an evolution of the original mark iic+ circuit with a focus on aggressive, tight overdriven rhythm sounds. channel 3 is created for soaring lead sounds, high-gain sustain and explosive attack. in both channels 2 and 3, the volume 1 control and lead master control have been removed in favor of simplicity.

Reviews:
Bought this amp around a month ago. Thought there was an issue with it and Sweetwater sent me a new one next day Saturday air at no charge and a shipping label to return the original amp. You know next day Saturday on a 35 pound item isn't cheap and they ate the cost. Long story short both amps worked fine and I returned the new one without an issue. Best customer service I've received in this industry ever maybe. If your herr to read about the amp this beast does everything they say. If your looking for that Petrucci tone just set the dials according to the instruction manual and your there minus the delay and chorus.
I've wanted the JP-2C ever since it came out, and I am not disappointed! This thing is a beast. The cleans are pristine and the high gains are incredibly tight and edgy. I can't believe how powerful the 5-band EQ's are. You can literally reshape your sound with just the slightest adjustment, which is incredible. I also have the TC-100, which I love. I'd say the TC may be slightly more versatile in the high gain and crunch sounds it provides, but if you want the Petrucci high gain sound, nothing beats the JP-2C!John
6. Stage Right By Monoprice Sb20 50-Watt All Tube 2-Channel Guitar Amp Head With Reverb
Product Details:
While modern solid state and modeling amplifiers provide valuable versatility, nothing sounds quite as right as a tube amp. preferred by most for their warm, round tone, tube amps can also produce organic sounding distortion that is superior to most, if not all, solid state equivalents. with the sb20 amp head and sb12 combo amp, stage right delivers organic, classic, high gain tube tone in a powerful and hyper affordable package. these are real, professional tube guitar amplifiers for the value minded and/or working musician.
Reviews:
overall I really like this amp. the dirty channel has a good crunch. Not a very tainted sound, which I like a lot. Clean channel is not real chimy like some, but nice and clean. the face plate is also black, unlike the 30 watt which is easier to see. The issue is the channel switching. While some amps are known for a load pop, this is quite the opposite, and I am guessing the pop is what they were trying to avoid. this one actually drops in volume and then comes back up between channels. Deal breaker. I can't use this live if it cuts out. Really wanted to have this kicking around for a second amp. But I will be returning this.brian
First one arrived and the overdrive channel sounded awful. Made arrangements to return it and the process went quick, I had a new one a week after sending the bad one back. The second one turned out as advertised. You can dial in a wide range of tones and has that beautiful tube sound. The reverb is just a tad weak but still ok. Also, effects pedals sound great. It?s an awesome buy.Leo
I had a 50 watt 6L6 guitar head and sold it only to regret it later. I saw this one on sale and I took a chance. Glad I did. Disclaimer: I only use it for a pedal platform, although I have tried the gain channel. It's "ok" (not great) but to use the amp that way you'll really have to work with the both channels to achieve unity volume. As a clean channel pedal platform it's great. Like others have said the reverb is lacking but I usually just leave it on 10:00 for ambience. This amp is LOUD and can easily hang with a large band if needed. As far as reliability, time will tell, but it seems well made IMO.john
7. Bogner Ecstasy Mini 30-Watt Guitar Amp Head
Product Details:
The bogner ecstasy mini 30w guitar amp head captures the red channel tone of the larger valve ecstasy amplifiers with its incendiary high gain crunch and lead tones, in an ultra compact head enclosure powered by a solid state 30 watt power section. the ecstasy mini delivers a wide range of expressive tones from vintage overdrive to ripping modern high gain and the discrete gain stages provides valve like clarity, touch sensitivity and note separation. it is packed with tone shaping features, there is an active 3 band eq with bass, middle and treble knobs but also a presence knob which contours the ultra high frequency content and a three position mid freq toggle switch which selects the frequencies the mid knob adjusts. the three position pre eq switch controls the openness and presence of higher range harmonics, 'b1' gives a shimmering high frequency boost that adds detail and openness to the sound (great with a strat on lower gain settings), 'n' is a neutral tone which is rounder with less attack and 'b2' offers a boosted midrange and high frequency, great for tightening up aggressive sounds (b1 and b2 have less effect on the tone with high gain settings). the 'variac on/off' switch adds a dropped voltage dynamic compression which alters the headroom and response and the gain switch adjusts the range of the gain knob from a low gain crunch sound to high gain saturation. on the back panel you will find a high quality series effects loop ideal for using time based effects and two speaker outputs which can be used with a single 8 ohm or dual 16 ohm cabinets. the included 24 v universal voltage power supply means you can take it wherever you travel and the bogner ecstasy mini's compact size, light weight and classic styling makes it a great for onstage, at home or in the studio.
Reviews:
Looks will deceive, this is a hellmouth. 6/5 starsBryce

Thank you, Nick at SxFlls Guitar Center! Having told me that he has heard nothing but good things about this amp, I ordered it on the spot. upon receiving, I noticed the quality of build. With a humbucker in the neck position Tele, I immediately dialed in a gorgeous lush attack.. Rolled back the volume, and amplifier responded with a delicious and spacious rhythm tone. Single coil bridge pickup kicked in a spank and yet round full on Tele attack. But the middle position, it was so full of bottom end beef and top end sparkle, thanks to the amps internally bridged channels. For a 20 watt amp, this thing has tons of headroom, and can fill any stage, anywhere. Thank you, Nick. Thank you Guitar Center, and thank you Paul Reed Smith. This a beast of an amp in a small(ish) frame and a great price point for what is delivered in quality and pure TONE.Brian

With C19 I was looking for a good home tube amp and the Revv D20 way exceeded my expectations. The sound is terrific. Works well with my hx effects + pedal board. Attenuates onboard from 20w to 4w. And when I need to be quiet (headphones) or just want to pull tones into my DAW, the Two Notes torpedo is really good. I'm really glad I bought this Amp.Ira
Great sounding amp and the built in two notes cab sim is great. Great metal tones but you’ll need an overdrive pedal to really get the most out of it. Clean tones are gorgeous. MIDI is simple to use to change the channel and various other parameters too. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to silently record but with the option to power a cab too!Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
What a fantastic amplifier this is. Worth every penny. The High and Low power settings both give different sounds and are equally usable. For more gain I use a Korg Nu:Tekt Over Drive pedal, they go very well together. I use beyerdynamic DT770 Pro headphones with the cab sim output every day! Have not stopped playing this amp since it arrived and I would say to anyone looking for an amplifier like this that if they are in a position to do so, then buy it without hesitation. My Shergold guitar and my Gordon Smith guitar go so well with this amp- both guitars have Humbucker pick ups and definitely give me the kind of tone that I have been looking for since I first heard JoyDivision more than 40 years ago. The amp works well with my Gibson ES330 guitar too which has P90 pick ups and is sort of an upmarket Casino. If anyone knows the sounds of Bernard Sumner with both the Shergold Masquerader and the ES330 then this amp sounds a lot like his setup without the punishing volume of his Vox. I have also been able to get the Neil Young Cortez the Killer tone pretty convincingly too. No regret at all in buying this amplifier and if it breaks would buy another without hesitation. I should perhaps add that this is the first Valve Amp that I have ever bought after many years of building my own Valve Amps.David C.

Reviews:
First of all, this came shipped with 5 levels of protection (Andertons box, insulation, Peavey warehouse box, invective box, insulation). Therefore it could have survived an explosion, thumbs up to Andertons! That said, this head is simply wonderful. Materials and construction are high standard and looks are clean and aggressive. No Christmas-style-ubiquitous LEDs, but a slight blue glow which blends with red valves and white panels. Speaking about the sound, this has a slightly high bass output at standard settings and could be tweaked a little. When correctly matched with pickups output and cabinet it produces a marvelous clean sound, very dynamic and warm. Lead channel is simply astonishing: gain is dense and controlled, tight and boost functions work well together and give high gain leads and well articulated notes as well. The noise gate is a nice touch. I will explore the various functions (recording via usb directly from the invective, and so on) over time, but I’m very satisfied overall. Volume output is huge and for room plays I set it under the first point of the scale…but i get high dynamics as well! This is seriously one of the best heads available for metal and progressive, with djenty touches and experimental features (same sounds as the Invective.120, but with a more “socially acceptable” volume output). I’d have liked a better footswitch from peavey instead of the cheap plastic one included, but I will eventually recase it.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
This amplifier is amazing for metal players. The inclusion of a very-effective noise gate makes this head completely perfect for live and recording situations. I have always used the Boss NS2 in front of all my amps, but the noise gate in this head works easily as well. If you have quick stop/start songs, this thing will track. The distortion channel on this head is the 5150/6505, so you will get the legendary 5150/6505 sound. The clean channel is a TON better than the 5150/6505, however. The cleans are creamy and not brittle at all. You will really enjoy all channels on this amp, as the cleans blow the 5150/6505 away. There are two effects loops that work independently, or in concert. If you use a lot of effects, this head is destined to be your favorite. I am not a big effects user, so it doesn't mean a lot to me, but the loops are clean, independent, and controllable via the foot switch. I can say, without hesitation, that this head is the best Peavey has ever made. Full stop.TheTerrorBeyond
Overall: The Peavey Invective 120 is the best sounding high gain amp I have EVER played…and after 22 years I've tried many. A big thanks to Misha Mansoor and Peavey as well as zZounds. The lineage is apparent in this amp. What else is apparent is the time and energy Misha and Peavey put into refining this product. The lead channel…oh the lead channel. Downright sinister. Modern aggression that is completely unrivaled. The Invective puts all other high gain amps in their place. It's simply meaner, more modern and has more harmonic content and responsiveness through the entire frequency range than other amps. Lead and Rhythm channels sit excellently in even the most dense mix. Bear in mind im hitting my favorite parts of this amp…it can so much more than metal. And the clean channel is absolutely beautiful. Lots of clarity and fatness. Two things that can often be hard to achieve on a clean channel. The gate…perfection. The boosts (technically there are 3 different kinds)…perfection. And with the dual effects loops and 9v power on the back panel as well as the a foot switch that really does do it all. The Invective is the all in one solution…its so beautifully engineered. Plug your effects in the loop(s). Done deal. And it's midi controlled. So streamlined. And the best part…the Invective sound is MASSIVE. This is the new benchmark in high gain. Period.Keola

This is an incredible amp!!! I have never played a more versatile Head. Beautiful cleans and powerful gain tones. All the other reviews will give you more detail on the tones. I find that so subjective its hard to tell others what I like without you being me. The only thing to knock is there are some things you NEED to know about the amp that are not clearly laid out. Even the GC salesperson wasn't aware of it. When I first got the amp I compared it to the EVH 5150. I almost returned the VHT because I couldn't get enough headroom for clean tones. I called them and it was explained to me that if you want plenty of headroom you need to dime the master. Have the OD toggle in the back above the footswitch down. The Mid toggle is down and the other toggle in the front is on Jazz. After that I got ALL of the cleans I wanted. I then used a Tube screamer and didn't need to change things up for some nice tasting gain tones when I wanted them. The OD toggle in the back, The mid toggle in front, Jazz/Rock, drive dial, all to do with the pre amp. When wanting gain and distortion playing with them you can create all types of different tones. Get to know the amp and you will LOVE it. Oh, I returned the EVH in favor of this.Ham
Great amp. It takes a while to dial in. The clean channel can take pedals the overdrive not so much. Gets in the Dumble sound for jazz/fusion but also can nail a rock tone. Overdrive has a lot of oomph. Can get bell tones on the clean channel. It does take a while to dial in though and every guitar needs tweaked. I would recommend this amp. It is easily modified to suit the taste of your ears and sounds great as is.Rick
I got a hold of this amp from a dealer who picked it up at the NAMM Show and overall I am pretty thrilled with it. It's incredibly versatile, has that creamy gain with tons of sustain when cranked and has the mid punch that this type of amp is famous for. The clean sound is very nice and will sit in a mix really well but isn't that bottomless fender clean crazy round sound you can get. It's close but not quite meant to do that, it's designed to shine where a guitar does the work, in the mids. The boost channel has a very nice sustained sound for leads and also has a phenomenal crunch. You can dial in some very SRV and Gilmour like tones with this amp. The 3 way bright switch, rock and jazz and mid are very effective and do give you a great tone shaping palette. The only cons so far are a lack of built in reverb and the preamp controls are tied to the clean volume as well so if you want a totally clean sound and super high gain setting the clean channel will be loud. For moderate gain and super clean sounds its very easy to balance the volume. Tons of versatility and an extremely gigable amp right out of the box. The pre-amp boost button makes it feel like you have an extra channel as doing this drives the volume and gain up a bit to the ear. We'll see it holds up, but a point to point amp with components on eyelet boards at this price point is pretty incredible. There may be a better D style amp out there but you can always mod to taste with this layout so it's an incredible platform that starts off in a really good place. I would love to a – b it with a Ceriatone or an actual overdrive special. Also I goat a vht cabinet with the chromeback speaker, I changed it out to a mesa boogie black shadow immediately, the stock chromeback speaker was very treble heavy and piercing. I have a few other cabinets and liked playing this amp through my 1×12 with a cannibus rex the most. The build quality of the cabinet is excellent though.JMatch

I play noisy hard rock/punk/hardcore through a '81 LP Custom, '59 Reissue LP STD and '76 Fender Tele Deluxe. I have a cherry '85 JCM800 100w that I've cared for since the early 90's and was looking for a 2 channel in a smaller form factor that was still plenty loud. I originally bought the Soldano Hot Rod 25, and while it sounded great at lower volumes, I found it too compressed with not enough grunt when pushed to very loud volumes. It didn't fill the room the way my JCM800 could. I sent the HR back and picked up this Friedman. It's similar in nature to my JCM800, weighs about 20 pounds less which saves my back dragging it through the city to practice, and it sounds incredible cranked or quiet. Very responsive. Both channels sounds great. CH2 doesn't need it, but I was surprised at how great Ch2 sounds with some of the distortion pedals I have. I've gigged about 6 times with this amp and it really cuts the room. The lifetime warranty is an added bonus. At this price, it should have came with a slip cover.PTH
I can truly say after playing semi-professionally for almost 25 years that this is the best amp I've ever owned. I've had close to 60 amps: everything from the typical big names to the top boutique amps in every price range. Many were killer amps. But there has never been one, until now, that has let me honestly believe my search is over. Here's why: there's a huge difference between how an amp sounds at home or in the music store, and how it sounds, feels and performs on stage. I can get satisfactory, even excellent tones with cheap gear. But those same tones usually get lost in the mix or sound dull and thin in a live situation. In addition, while many high gain tones can sound big and intense and "wow" you at first, they lose a lot of dynamics because they're overly compressed. The Friedman Small Box sits in the mix like no other amp I've used. The mids are PERFECT. Both channels are voiced to cut through. Just put all the knobs at noon and go. There's not a bad sound in this amp. Channel one can get you into serious crunch, or it can have that mid-forward super clean EL34 tone that just punches through. It can get very clean, but the ability to add some gain makes your cleans come alive more. I actually prefer the Small Box clean to the cleans on the other Friedman amps (BE and Jerry Cantrell) that are much more expensive (in fact, price aside, this is hands down my favorite of the Friedmans). Channel two is absolutely amazing. At first I was surprised. It didn't have as much gain as I expected. Don't get me wrong, it's high gain. I just thought it would be more over-the-top. I'm glad it's not, because now I realize that any more gain would kill the dynamics. As stated, the mids are where it's at for this channel. It's ridiculously responsive. For a 1×12 combo, it's got a huge sound. The low end is just plain big, and puts my other combos to shame. Through a 2×12 or 4×12, the tone is just MASSIVE. It really is that in-your-face, hot-rodded Marsh*lly sound that so many of us crave. The Friedman Jerry Cantrell is equally impressive on the dirty channel but in a different way. It has more gain, and sounds meaner, more modern. But I prefer the Small Box dirty channel. It's simple, raw, uncompressed and just BIG. I've also come to the conclusion that a 2-channel amp is perfect for me. I'm using a Fulldrive 3 on the front end, which gives me essentially two additional tones per channel. And I actually LIKE having a shared EQ for both channels. While having separate EQs sounds more flexible in theory, in practice I found on those amps that I'd set the EQs so similarly, that there was really no point in having two sets of tone controls (not too mention I hate having too many knobs). And, if you set the EQs differently, I find that it's hard to get a good balance in volume. I like the idea of clean and dirty having the same base tone, just with a lot more balls and gain on the dirty side. It's a more seamless experience when switching tones, and in a live situation your levels can be more easily matched. The build quality of this amp is outstanding. Just turn a knob or flip a toggle switch, and you can feel the difference between this and cheaper amps. Of course, Friedmans aren't cheap. But if I factor in all the money I've lost buying and reselling lesser amps and pedals, I could've saved a ton of money if I had this amp years ago.Skinvoyager
Amp sounds great a lower volume's, tried with several cabs but landed on a v30 greenback mix in a 2×12. This amp doesn't need to be set with everything on 10, it can be bright or warm meaning tone controls do a lot. The loop works great and is very transparent. Plexi channel is really good for clean stuff(at least for me) and can be goosed with boost or OD. Dirty channel is classic all the way to hard rock. We have a couple of nice amps kicking around and this Smallbox is a keeper, plus got a killer deal from MF. All around I'm super happy with the purchase.Joe

I've never tried a Randall before. I use a PRS Archon and an MT15. I've used peavey ultras and 6505, EVHiii 6L6. Right off the bat, the clean channel is very forgettable. The dirty channel is a tight and very responsive metal tone. It is pretty much one flavor, tone. Great sharp rock tones, add a boost and get massive tight metal tones. I got a great deal on this amp and was very happy when I played with my own gear at home. It sounds very similar to Olas tone from his old Randall Satan vids. It's got that Fortin tone. The loop is decent. I'm running an oceans11, the RV6 had a harder time dialing in. With my Orange 212 it sounds really thick and tight. The Mesa212 (overrated) didn't take it as well until you really gave it juice. Only swapping out boost pedals give me a little variation in tones, but it will sound the same overall. Maybe an EQ would give more options. But for what it is, I love it. It's easy to use, has a noticeably better metal tone than many amps in its weight class. This amp has been out a while but IMO is does metal much better than the EVH and 6505. It's tighter than my Archon and much easier to dial in than the MT. It looks brutal. I got it at half the price of an EVH 50watt, no joke. It's not going to sound like a Randall Satan with options and 120 or so watts of roar, but it's close. I've tried with the 33 and Zuul. Brutal. Currently running it with a Waza SD1 and am getting tight, buttery tones. It took a HD precision drive very well also. I would say not having separate EQ for cleans sucks but That's not why I got this amp. Home use/practice recording.Ghostpuncher
I bought this wanting an amp with more gain for harder styles of music. I wanted a tube amp also. This fit the bill. I have the Diavlo 1×12 cab with a V30, and that sounds fantastic combined with this amp. If you think it can only do metal, think again – the clean channel can be pretty clean. Then when you go to the gain channel and set the boost on, you get hair and you don't need a pedal to get good hair. In fact, the pedal I tried with it (Line 6 M13) did not play well at all with this amp. So luckily you really don't need a pedal for it. They really should make the tubes a bit easier to get at for changing them out and setting the bias. It can be done but I wouldn't say it will be "easy" by any means. The stock Ruby tubes are surprisingly not bad in this amp. However I changed them out right away for Electro Harmonix tubes and for me, those sound better. If you are just a head banger death metal guy, the Rubies might be even better for you. I really love the tone from this beast. Clean it's really good and the hairy stuff is exactly what I was looking for. The corksniffers will disagree, but you don't HAVE to spend a fortune to get an all tube amp that delivers fantastic tone.Mr Bukkake
15. Soldano Slo Mini 30-Watt Amp Head
Product Details:
The soldano slo mini 30w guitar amp head captures the rich overdrive and crunch or the original super lead overdrive (slo) 100 amplifier in an ultra compact head enclosure powered by a solid state 30 watt power section. the slo mini delivers searing harmonics with a perfect balance of gain, sustain and tight touch response that the larger amps became famous for and is packed with tone shaping features. the crunch/overdrive switch selects between two modes, the crunch setting is great for big open chords (especially with the deep switch on) and the overdrive setting gives you a great lead tone. there is a 3 band eq with bass, middle and treble knobs but also a presence knob and normal/deep voicing switch, the presence control contours the ultra high frequency content and the normal/deep switch controls the amount of low frequency content in the power amp. a master volume control and gain control completes the front panel. on the back you will find a high quality series effects loop ideal for using time based effects and two speaker outputs which can be used with a single 8 ohm or dual 16 ohm cabinets. the included 24 v universal voltage power supply means you can take it wherever you travel and the soldano slo mini's compact size, light weight and classic styling makes it great for onstage, at home or in the studio.

Great big sound from a very small unit.Paul
If you always play metal with a hi-gain setting and smoldering distortion you will like this little amp head. It is remarkably powerful for its light weight and size, and seems to suffer no strees even when turned up all the way. It drove a VOX AD212 cab with no problems at 16 ohms. However it lacks versatility and is all distortion of some sort all the time. I played through it with an Epiphone with two HB's and a Vari-Tone switch, so I ran 18 distinct tones through it and it was all metal-esque. For the money, a Boss 25/50 watt Katana gives you the amp and speaker and is extremely versatile, although it is a bit difficult to learn how to use the Swiss Army Knife variety of settings on that, too. All in all – I have no other experience with Soldano, but this is sort of a rather expensive distortion pedal with good tone control features, except it can drive a speaker cab loud enough for some gigs. If you want to jam but also have big stack sound in an apartment without bothering the neighbors, this might be for you, but I won't be using it much, maybe for speed practicing or recording.Joel
I bought this as a backup for travel gigs. In the event that I needed an amp, I could use this to power a cab of any size. It has plenty of volume for such a small form factor. If I wanted to run pedals cleanly, I can run into the effects return, but have no volume control on the amp itself. Overall, it sounds great for the price.Ben

Outstanding clean amp, very close to it's bassman origins and certainly not the amp you want if you expect tons of gain from the amp itself. It's plenty loud for anything with the right cab and it takes drive pedals (Vintage LM306 Rat, TS, Fuzz Face, and more) better than many amps I've used. If you're not too taken by the EHX logo, there are ways to make your own SOVTEK logo and have the amp of your dreams for an absolute bargain.Warthog Alien Recording & Sound

Mighty sound in a micro package. And it's not a compromise on a traditional tube amp or head. Lots of options, channels and tonal choices. Build quality excellent too. Check out Bluguitar's YT channel Academy of Tone for all you need to know about the AMP1 and the brand.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
Open the box, tested with a Katana 2×12 cab, sound was awesome. Same goes to a Laney 2×12 but sounded much more better. Considering the size of the Amp1, the Nanotube is a real deal. Drives is authentic. Growls like the full tube amp head. Cleans nicely from high to low gain. Tried again with a Yamaha powered speaker and speaker out to a BluBox, cuts through with the band easily. Everyone was so impressed with the sounds. Amazing tones.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
Overall: I've been looking for portable, potent, Plexi and then some Marshall tone and kept trying little modelers. Most sounded fine, but I struggled to get them right. I have so many great Plexi sounds…and then some…in my Kemper, but wanted something to fit in a gig bag. I remembered having seen Jack Gardiner's video about this and LOVING the sounds he got. When I played this at NAMM 2020, Hall D was just too loud to really appreciate it. But I remembered liking it. So I ordered it. Wow! Let me tell you, I like it so much I just ordered the Remote1 switch for it to use it for more than just a travel option! This thing sounds phenomenal!More often than not, clean channels sound like afterthoughts. This amp has a beautiful clean channel and when combined with the boost gives you excellent, chimey, pushed clean and Vox-like tone. Henning Paulie had Thomas Blug on and they got really close to his Morgan AC30 style amp. Frighteningly close! Well, it really does it! And the dynamics of this amp are incredible. Even with the boost engaged, I can roll the volume down and clean up the vintage and classic channels nicely! I have a lot of amps. This hangs with the big boys easily. And it takes pedals as well as any big amp. I am so happy I can stop looking for a plexi for my gig bag. zZounds has a great return policy. It won't hurt to try it. But I promise you won't likely send it back. I know I won't. This is a keeper.Randy
