This is a great guitar. If you aren't familiar with classic vibe series, look into them. They are like the cheaper versions of the vintera series from fender. I could tell right away my guitar was played on a bunch in the CME store or it was damaged and repaired at fender. Plastic wraps were all beat up and dirty and the tuners were removed and the neck was buffed. Swirl and tiny scratch marks left all over the headstock. Aside from it being "new" it came to me like a demo model. The guitar needed the saddles adjusted to match the fretboard radius. Was intonated correctly. Every other classic vibe i bought new was pristine, no buff marks etc. I realize these were listed at 399 plus tax but i feel i got a demo or factory second. Considering not doing any more business with CME. The guitar should have been listed as scratch and dent or something with a reasonable discount. I feel CME could have made my experience better by being more thorough and more responsive with the live chat. Cool guitar just not factory fresh like all my other purchases. I am leaving a 5 star review for the product itself. Again i feel CME could have made my experience more personal not just like im shopping on amazon or some other a.i. based customer service website.
Excellent guitar for the money……I originally purchased the Burgundy Mist 60s Stratocaster and liked it so much I also got the Classic Vibe 50s version. Since then I have picked up a second Classic Vibe 60s Stratocaster. I always heard nice things about these Squier guitars, but never really gave them a chance. I usually play my American Standard or Deluxe Stratocasters, and kind of looked down on these as cheaper copies. I recently purchased a Limited Edition American Vintage '65 Stratocaster in Burgundy Mist, but the Squier Classic Vibe 60s Stratocaster is more fun to play! I do prefer the sound of the 60s Classic Vibe over the 50s one……Not that the 50s is a bad choice, but it has the Alnico III Pickups, which are not as punchy as the Alnico V Pickups in the 60s version. These Squier Classic Vibes have an excellent fit and finish, unlike some other brands that offer cheaper alternatives. They are lightweight and balanced with a very solid feel. Wow…people weren't kidding. This thing is a beast right out of the box. Fit and finish is what you'd expect on a Mexican Fender. I bought this for my 9 year old daughter….well, that's what I told my wife anyway. After playing it I might keep it for myself. I watched countless YouTube videos where folks go on and on about how great they were. After going on clearance I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a burgundy mist with matching headstock. They're quality guitars much nicer than my Squier II that I started with as a teenager in the mid-nineties. I will say I'm not crazy about the pickups, they're not terrible by any means but an experienced ear can tell they're lower quality. A set of Texas specials or even Tex-Mex pickups would turn the guitar into a absolute screamer. If I was gonna go that far I'd probably replace the dime sized volume and tone pots for good measure as well. That being said as far as a first guitar goes this is a beautiful place to start. It'd be a guitar that would be a joy to play for any level player. If you're an intermediate to experienced player this is a solid platform to modify and experiment with. They can be bought cheap enough that you can feel comfortable upgrading some of the budget appointments. Vintage frets feel nice, no sharp edges. They do cut corners here and there. The rosewood fretboard is laughably thin BUT had I not owned Mexican and American strats previously I probably would have never noticed. It's also pretty light bordering on too light but that can be an advantage for younger/smaller players. Overall though I'm thrilled with my purchase. **If you're a parent shopping for a budding guitarist pay the extra money. Nothing discourages a beginner guitarist like a guitar that is poorly set up and uncomfortable to play and I put a lot of the base model squiers into that category. I bought this for my son's 6th birthday. I checked it before giving it to him. It was filthy. It looked as though it had been handled by a car mechanic who had not washed his hands. I could see fingerprint patterns.The grime on the face of the pick guard was no big deal because of the cellophane covering, but the grime on the beveled edge of the pick guard was in the plastic. There was grime on the nut, on the back of the headstock, and in a few places on the body. The Musician's Friend customer service guy was great. He arranged an exchange, and was truly sympathetic. Since I couldn't give it to my son for his birthday, I decided to save it for another occasion. I left it unopened for a few months. Today, I opened it just to check it. Filthy with the same kind of grime. I checked the serial number against a photo I had taken of the original mini. It's a different guitar. Says a lot about the quality control at Fender. Too late to get an exchange, so I'm going to do what I can to clean it. I'm also going to write to Fender to complain. Musician's Friend was great on their end. I only recommend that they open some of the mini Squiers to check them for condition and give Fender some grief for any that they find to be less than clean.Joe with an old Strat.
Received this the other day bought for my Grandson. I am a starting Luther so I have some knowledge about guitar work. Overall I'm impressed tuned it up, stretched the strings a bit and plugged it in. Pickups not bad sounding , tone, vol and switch work fine. Tuners are not great but slippage was minimum and caused no problems. Intonation was close played in tune up the neck. It does have sharp fret ends (which I will take care of) in addition along with some normal set up stuff, neck adjustment maybe some work at the nut. Set up stuff is normal with guitars costing allot more so I consider this normal. The 3/4 body and 22" scale make this fun to play and a great guitar for kids and people with small hands. It is so much better than the minis with the 16" inch scale length as you can tune this to normal E. Over a very nice guitar for the price.Jimbo
This was my first guitar, and it served me well for a few years. Eventually it got a bit too small, but it's a decent guitar at a great price. The sound overall is decent and it's easy to play, but it's got serious fret buzz and mine never stayed in tune. There's really not much to say, if your 6-10 year old kid wants to learn guitar, get them this.Miles

CME delivers again, this Jag is a fabulous value. I love this guitar! The neck feels so good and the roasted maple looks so good and makes it look like a much more expensive guitar. No sharp frets, all pretty level, and no fret buzz at all straight out of the box. It was tuned down a half step for shipping, and it took me about 30 min to stretch the strings and get it to stay in tune. Once it did, I whammyed the heck out of it and I could not knock it out of tune. I play mostly 80s metal like Ratt, Dokken, Motley, and it can handle that style. I'll probably put a hotter bridge pickup in at some point, but the stock one is actually pretty good. Tuners seem to work pretty well, and I don't believe it's the original Floyd Rose model, but it seems to work just fine. Once I get it setup I can see this becoming my favorite guitar. I love playing it. The pink color is very subtle, it's not a shocking pink. Very elegant. It's such a unique and well built guitar and a super value at this price.Brian
For the price it should probably be five stars to be fair. The volume and tone knob look cheep and plasticy, easily replaced, and I'm still not sure about the .pickups. All personal opinion though. Other than that the guitar is genuinely brilliantly, light weight, great paint finish, absolutely gorgeous neck both to look at and play. Think of this as the alternative to Stat/Tele single coil world. Looks cool and roasted neck is nice (wide frets, deeper neck) though mine had sharps. Lightweight, similar quality to ClassicVibe. Pickups are alnico and very unlike typ Stat pickups, def modern sounding. 4 of the 5 positions are unique (aside from neck pickup solo), including all 3-on, and middle "tele" combo (which you never get in a standard strat). The "middle" pickup solo is weird as its near the bridge. Its got lead sounds in 1 and 5 + 3 essentially rhythm options. Its all rather interesting and you will find yourself trying to compare these positions to standard Strat sounds, but its a unique beast.Go_Pats

This is the first Acoustic/electric that I have owned that I actually love playing. The action is great even with the large gauge acoustic strings on it. Comes with a very nice gig-bag/case. I love the way the neck and back of the guitar looks. I also love the Strat 5-way switch that selects the degree and type of acoustic sound. The only downside with this guitar is the cover that serves as a cover for the electronics and pick guard. It looks cheap, more like a decal than a cover. I think Fender can do better on this detail for the price of the guitar. However, if you can get past that then it is a fine playing and sounding guitar. I have owned several Acoustic and Acoustic/Electric guitars. The action on even high-priced acoustics was so terrible I just ended up selling them. I also do not like the large back ends of most acoustic and acoustic electric guitars, but this guitar is small and easy to play. I would give it an A-.Bill
The research I did on trying to learn more about this instrument via general internet, YouTube, assorted standard Music Company's like Sam Ash; Sweetwater; Guitar Center; Alamo; and other assorted Music Guitar critics provided a good array of opinions and product test results that produced a positive majority with impressive perspectives for the instrument I purchased. The Fender American Acoustasonic Stratocaster Acoustic-Electric Guitar Cocobolo I purchased from Sam Ash was not a disappointment. Aside from the 10 different options of Guitar unique sounds it provides from Acoustic and Electric mixes. The one-of-a-kind Cocobolo wood identifies a further fingerprint in supporting its own private one-of-a-kind signature sound with relationship to the Cocobolo wood unique to it alone. That just blows me away with how special the sound of specialty signature sound it produces with the ten different built in technical sounds the Fender Guitar company developed with this special edition. I feel overwhelmed in learning to continue how to play this guitar. I have a US Tele and, after putting some TLC into this player strat, it feels and plays almost as good as the Tele. I would give it five stars if it were not for fretwork that was needed. Body – The finish and surf pearl color are gorgeous. The wood grain is barely visible (raised) so I would not say the finish is flawless, but the grain is very subtle and adds character in my opinion. The routed cavities for the electronics (top) and the tremolo springs (back) are precisely cut and clean. The electronics cavity was even finished with black paint. Neck – The finish and appearance are great. However, all 22 frets had sprouted; some as much as 1/32". I can't say this is a craftsmanship issue as the frets were probably fine when it was assembled. It must have been a very high humidity environment, though. Nevertheless, after painstakingly filing and redressing all 44 fret ends it feels good. The frets themselves were well seated and leveled. The 3rd and 11th frets were a few thousands of an inch high, but not enough to cause any buzzing issues. The frets were well rounded and polished. Hardware – The tuners are just okay. One of them feels a little rough turning, and they seem to have a low turning ratio making it very touchy to dial in perfect pitch. The 2-point fulcrum tremolo bridge seems like a better design than the traditional (six screw) bridges, but I did not test it. I prefer to block them for more stable tuning, which worked great with this bridge. I have upgraded electronics I had planned to install in this guitar, but the stock pickups aren't bad. They are very quiet and have good tone – there is no rush to replace them. Setup was a breeze. Truss rod adjustment was smooth, nut slots were to spec, and intonation was perfect. The action needed adjustment since I blocked the tremolo, but that was easy.Dave S.

For years Squier has been a popular brand of discount Fenders. They were often someone's first guitar. It was very rare that a guitar enthusiast would want to search out a Squier for their collection, once it was established. Squier has been seriously making a much better product in recent years. With their Paranormal line they have created guitars that are definitely worth owning. They are uniquely crafted, despite being made in China. Even the pickups are designed to be specific to the sound the guitar goes for. The Super Sonic is easily one of the most eye catching. With two volume knobs and two exceptionally juiced humbuckers, you will be surprised what this guitar brings to the table. It's sound can be explosive and heavy. It is made for overdrive pedals and tube amps. The tremolo is near perfect. Two bits of advice that you must know when you get this guitar; first it comes with the wrong type of strings on it. You will need at least 10s in a heavy gauge to make the tremolo work without it slipping out of tune. 9s will not cut it, so restring it first thing. Also the string action most often comes from the factory being too high. Make sure you have a small allen wretch. Adjust the string height is extremely easy, easier than all my Fenders, and it can go low. You get some low action on this guitar, with the tremolo working perfect, and that thick overdrive, you have yourself an addition to your collection that is very much worth the money. This was my first purchase from ProAudioStar. I ordered on Wednesday, it shipped on Thursday and arrived on Saturday. The guitar was well packed and arrived safely. The Squier Toronado itself is gorgeous with quality similar to the Classic Vibes. Frets are nice, finish is perfect, neck is straight, no obvious flaws (after 2 days at least!). The humbuckers are surprisingly bright, which is a good thing to me. The only word of caution is that the LPB finish is darker than usual. I have a LPB Stratocaster and the Toronado is significantly darker. I actually like the darker shade, it's just something to be aware of.AverageTortoise-819
A perfectly playable guitar at a sub $500 price point that’s a ton of fun as well! Pros: Short-scale, humbucker-equipped, independent volume and tone controls (all very un-Fender-like)! Cons: I would have preferred a satin finished neck; however, the gloss finish looks great, the pickups were set up waaaaay too low to even be really audible, one of saddle screws was stripped and fell out. The guitar itself is quite nicely built, but the app, which is supposed to help your kids learn the chords etc. is demoralizingly bad. It's hard to explain to a 5 year old why, after following the daily items (tune your guitar, practice some chords etc.) they don't get the points for completion. As a software engineer, I fail to see why it's okay to leave this basic functionality broken. Furthermore, the app appears to be abandonware. I see no updates or fixes. The 'Games' section has been 'coming soon' for months. The app should be removed from the site as a selling point, since it is basically broken. Just be aware when you buy this guitar, the app is not going to work.Ben
My 6 year old really loves the thing. She strums it and goes to it often without prompt. She can’t really get her fingers down onto the fretboard to play a chord, but she knows that those cards are instructions. She carries them around and tries playing them with the guitar on a flat surface. She also still doesn’t have a great sense of the guitar as an instrument, that’s to be taken care of, and not banged around like a toy. I think by the time she’s 8, this thing will be perfect for her. If you guys made something a little more towards the toddler end of the spectrum, I’d pick it up in a heartbeat. I understand and greatly appreciate that you’ve scaled down a real electric guitar. Phenomenal concept. Greatly happy with it. If there was something a little more durable, and a little easier for little fingers to hold the notes, I’d pick that up for sure. Great idea, great product, pretty nice app.James C.
Bought a Loog mini for my 9y old. He seems to like Guitar and I can play a bit , but whenever we tried on my Ovation he got very frustrated. Heard about the Loog 3 string and it made sense to me. Well my some loves it!! He’s learned the basic chords now because hit little hand can actually get around the fret board and he is so excited! Just got my guitar yesterday. Here are my thoughts. The packaging was decent and in the original Mitchell box. The guitar itself was in excellent condition and it was brand new. The piece is a beauty. It feels good only two issues. One is that the fret ends are a bit rough and second the truss rod cap was a bit loose. Other than that the guitar is beautiful. It plays very decent and I am a beginner so won't be able to give a very technical input.Numair
I have a few Mitchells, and none are bad guitars, though I have had to work on every single one of them, and this one was no exception. The guitar itself has a decent feel, and the pickups aren't horrible. I did have to do some big neck adjustments and file down some frets to get rid of fret buzz and dead frets. After some time working on it, I do enjoy playing it. It's really good for sitting around practicing if you want to save mileage on your more expensive guitars. I cannot say however that I would recommend this guitar unless you know how to work on it.Gorden
I bought this for my daughter and am experienced at guitars set ups. Out the the box its ok for a beginner. But Not for me. So I adjusted the neck and action. Intonation was way off. Neck adjusted easily. Action I was able to get to 1.75mm at 12th fret on low e with no fret buzz. Same as my ESP guitar. The guitar did intonate perfectly. Pickups are fine for a beginner. After a good set up I would play the guitar. Pickup is just ok. If you are a serious player then this guitar could be great as a beater. Proper set up. Vuy a used Seymore Duncan off ebay and throw in the bridge for cheap. Rough up paint and spray the finish with a can up duplicolor and clear coat it. Im considering getting one for myself and doing all of the above. I would have less than $200 in it. I guitar I keep on stand, not case and grab to play. If I ding it up I don't care. The neck was a little rough. I hit with 7000 grit paper and the neck is fast and good. Or if they lower price on other colors to $99 I might buy one of each color.dwsguitars

Overall, this is a good guitar. I'm having a good time with it, the neck is comfortable, the pickups sound really good and handle high-ish gain surprisingly well, and the color (I got the Daphne blue) looks incredible. Taken as a whole, if you're in the market for a Jazzmaster with all the classic JM features but don't have a ton of money to spend, I'd recommend it for sure. If you're going to buy it though, just be aware of a few things… 1.) It'll need a setup. Out of the box, the tuning stability was fine but once I used the vibrato a little bit, it went way out. The action wasn't bad but could be better and the neck may need a half degree shim. I'm probably going to end up putting a Fender AVRI vibrato on it eventually but a decent setup should make the stock one perfectly usable. 2.) It needs a good cleaning. This could very well just be the specific one that I got but the neck and headstock had a lot of dust and a slightly cloudy residue on them, the fretboard was very dry, and the frets were scratchy. None of these were anything that a little lemon oil, fretboard conditioner, a microfiber cloth, and some 0000 steel wool couldn't take care of but it's still something to be aware of. Note though that, while the frets were scratchy, their weren't any sharp fret ends. 3.) It probably isn't a great first guitar. I've seen this said a few times in other reviews and I completely agree. That's not to say that it isn't a good guitar because it is. More that it's not the most user-friendly instrument right away and could be off-putting to a beginner. A pro setup will do it a world of good and make it much easier to play but if you're in the market for a first guitar, look elsewhere. Am I glad I bought it? Yes. I mean, it's a Daphne blue Jazzmaster with a comfortable neck and awesome pickups! I don't mind working on my guitars a bit though, so none of the problems I talked about above bother me in particular. However, if you're looking for a plug-in-and-play guitar right out of the box, this one might not be for you.Jackson
I waiting on this on backordered for a few months (shell pink) and started to worry after looking at a bunch of YouTube reviews. Action, fret ends and leveling were great out of the box (which I really am not up for fixing; esp on a bound fingerboard). Frets could prob use a polish, but that's a lesser concern to me. No shim needed with 09s so far. I feel like recent shipments corrected some of the common complaints of this line… YMMV. I think the the nut is pinching a bit and the trem pivot is jumping a bit so I might go in and see if I can smooth it out. Pickups are microphonic under gains and comp… and I'm not sure if they are RWRP yet. One of the reason I went with MF is that if I wasn't satisfied I could go right into GC and trade towards and CV Jazzmaster. But overall pretty satisfied and think this will be a good first offset and short scale add to the collection.David
I want to love this guitar. Unfortunately however, I will have to be taking this one to a luthier to be set-up due to the neck. Everything for the most part is beautiful, it's a Jazzmaster. Fantastic dark, spanky jazzmaster tones, beautiful tortoise-shell guard, and the very eye-catching very elusive shell pink finish. Switches all seem to be in working order, though due to the position of the neck pickup to the strings right out of the box, the rhythm circuit will be noticeably quieter. Easy fix. I am unsure about the stability of the bridge, which is a Mustang bridge- a HUGE improvement, as I've seen in other reviews that the screwposts loosen by vibration. Vibrato does not return to tune. There is a very strange, unclean grime of some sort on the metal plate of the vibrato piece. I was unfortunate enough to receive a poorly conditioned neck, with glue residue left behind surrounding the tuning pegs on the face of the headstock. The lacquer finish is beautiful and is fine to play on. The fretboard is noticeably dry as well as the frets are unfinished, both feeling scratchy, and the frets being too rough to perform clean bends on. Not sure if it's the neck, the frets, or the bridge piece, or any of the three in combination that is causing the strings to be unable to bend even a half note without losing vibration, or being pinched off. Fret markers are a dark, cheap pearl. Overall, the fretboard itself just feels like Squier Affinity line quality. My impression is that most of the cost of this guitar- to keep it in line with the technologically cheaper instruments (telecaster the same price as a jazz, etc)- went into the body finish, and electronics. However, in the end I still love this thing and cannot wait to hear it sing once I get it set-up.Tyler

Very nice charvel dk24 in like-new condition. purchased on july 22, 2020 from sweetwater. played for no more than two hours so it is pretty much new. does not come with the case pictured but the whammy bar and allen hex wrench are included.few factory but incredibly minor blemishes: 3rd, 12th, and 13th frets have surface marks that are only seen if you tilt the guitar at a certain angle – they cannot be felt while playing. i can guarantee 99% of people won't care. not a b-stock or 2nd instrument, and i verified with my sweetwater rep that this guitar was straight from the factory and not a return.i'm selling this because the nut width is a little too wide for me. it's 1.687 (1 11/16) inches or 42.8 mm which is popular but i play faster with a 1 5/8" width. however, the compound radius and roasted neck is the best i've ever played. super smooth and comfortable.

Overall: Let's start at the top. I have never had a guitar with in house tuners that are this good. The charvel locking tuners are phenomenal. Very smooth and precise, every bit as good as any gotoh tuners I've used. The nut does what it's supposed to, I've not had any tuning issues due to friction when using the trem. The neck. My god the neck is fantastic. It's a very comfortable thin shape that works for me perfectly. It is very very close to as smooth as my strandberg. The frets are about the only thing that leaves a bit to be desired. They're polished and rounded very nicely, however there are sharp edges. Pretty much every fret, bass and treble side. It isn't to the point where it's uncomfortable to play, but noticeable. I absolutely love the spoke truss rod adjustment wheel, not that I've needed to use it. The neck joint is absolutely the most comfortable bolt on I've ever played. The pickups are fantastic as well, not super high output but the clarity is insane. Exactly what I was looking for. The gotoh bridge was probably my biggest surprise. I've never played a non locking trem that actually stayed in tune and even after abusing it like I would a Floyd, lo and behold, still in tune! It's very comfortable as well. The output jack placement is genius and is comfortable in any sitting position. It would be perfect for sticking the cable in between the strap and guitar. I know it's cliche, but the pictures do not do it justice. It is a stunning guitar. The satin burgundy mist is about the coolest color I've seen on a guitar and compliments the roasted maple neck perfectly. Overall, the fit and finish of the guitar, aside from the frets, is flawless. I would still 100% recommend this guitar to anyone. It would be a great guitar for any type of music you play.
Overall: Not much more I can add to what’s been said so far (hit or miss QA, super smooth neck, really nice finish, crazy number of sonically pleasing tones, premium components work great..); it really is an excellent guitar. The matte blue version of this guitar I received had a really janky and loose pickup selector switch, so I had it swapped out for the exact part used in the (*ahem* almost identical $3500!!!!) American version. The fret edges were finished smooth right out of the box, but it badly needed a setup. Once that was done, it was perfect. It’s almost effortless to access all of the frets. The tremolo is different than a traditional Stratocaster style 2-point trem in that it’s way more sensitive and much tighter and way more stable. The only issue I’m having with it is, because of where the volume knob is and my way of playing, I roll the volume down on accident quite a bit. Kinda takes the edge off of a solo when it’s fading out as it’s building up. Also, I’ll eventually swap out the no-load tone control for a conventional one. The stock no-load tone control works just fine to control the tone, but I don’t like the extra click when it’s dialed all the way up. And at this price it should come with a bag.
On paper, a pink strat style guitar with humbuckers would be the last guitar I'd want to play. However seeing this Charvel Pro-Mod Dk24 on the wall in it's sort of darker pink (burgundy mist) just caught my eye so I played it. I knew I found a real player's guitar. The color grew on me even more and the functionality was great. Humbuckers you can run as single coils with the 5 way switch is very practical. I didn't want to put it down. Super strats have always been very versatile but I've never dreamed of buying one just because I always found the styling to be extreme. However the color is kind of soothing. The neck didn't leave much of an impression but I think that there's something nice about not having to think about the neck. If it works and I don't have to think about it, so be it. Played rock through a little orange amp well yet it also sounded beautiful with a lush clean sound through a Fender Princeton. I think super strat type guitars are starting to come around to the market. Between the Silver Sky the PRS Fiore I think the more mellow color/designs with the versatility they've always had are making super strats more desirable to new guitarists. This one's a great one.G

It plays very easily with the condition that the back of the neck feels a bit weird to me right now, I have only played it twice though so through playing this might very well go away. It's a maple neck and the back is non glossy which I like but the thin nitro coating they have sprayed it with feels a bit weird under the hand, it's not sticky in the slightest, it's just nothing like I am used to. Might just be me, and as always this should go away with playing. I like the colour and design of the guitar. I like the neck in general, I am not a metal player and thinner necks aint my thang but this neck is thin but also comfortable with it. The pickups are good, I have two Seymour Duncans in my only other *metal* guitar and I am not sure which set I prefer. This one has a JB in the bridge and a 59 in the neck. The 59 is well capable of Bluesy, rock and even Lead Tones. The bridge JB does Lead and can get clear clean tones especially if you roll some tone off on the guitar. I hear some people complain about the harshness or more like the bite of the JB but I think that's unfair. It's true this guitar does Blues, rock and metal well but for modern metal it is in the ballpark but not quite there. It's more suitied to 80's thrash metal than modern stuff and it does all rock well and you can do Blues with it in the neck position. So it's not an out and out metal guitar and so I like it better for that. It is versatile. I play Pink Floyd on it and it sings. Performs well with any type of rock and if you want Metallica early metal tones and onwards this does it really well. I am not much into modern metal anyway so I am not too bothered. I did Motorhead songs the other day and it kills it. The tuners are Jacksons sealed ones or whatever they are ,so not locking as far as I know but it stays in tune really well, maybe because of the floyd rose on it, which works really well. My first ever Floyd Rose guitar and it impresses me with how well it works and not as hard as you think when it comes to changing strings etc. Lastly the price is very good for what you get which is always a selling point for me.And what yiou get is a proper set of Seymour Duncans and a proper Floyd not the cheap ones you get in low budget offerings in a guitar that looks the part, the headstock alone is worth having it for! I got it for 600 quid. Complete no brainer.R O.
In short: for the price this beast is a solid 9/10, overall and realistically it's 6/10. If you are like me and want to get into 7s – this is the one to go with from all the others entry 7s 😉 Neck: I was adjusting it for 3 days, it's almost flat now and I can get really OK action with it, not low like Ibanez but it's just fine. The only problem is 7th string has to be much higher than the others because it's branching on lower frets. Frets are just OK and there is nothing wrong in terms of craftsmanship. I like this neck, it's somewhat fast and I have no problems getting higher up the neck, 26.5 also helps with that and now I'm damn sure 26.5 is something I always needed in my life, period. I rate this neck with 8/10. 9 would go for playability and action, 6 would go to the wood, craftsmanship, ugly fretboard that looks like it didn't get enough laquer or smth, looks VERY dry and unfinished. Tuners: meeeh, they are OK and holds tuning somewhat, I don't really need to adjust it very often which is great. But getting it tuned is like being in a sad and depresive circle of hell, especially with the 7th string. I rate tuners with 4/10 This would be my second phase upgrade. If they didn't hold the tune like they are (kinda OK), rate would be 2/10. Bridge/intonation: not great not terrible, if I decide to replace it, this would go in second phase with tuners too. I had no problems with intonation. In fact, I managed to get it perfectly intonated, you can really hit those high octaves on any string (15th or 17th) and it don't go out of sound, even on 6th and 7th string. I have to see if I could snap some tune-o-matic but I'm afraid I could lose resonation which is already low as f*. I'm ok with the bridge for now, 7/10. Pickups: they don't really "pick up" the 7th 😀 it is kinda muddy but for this price, they really surprised me. They can really pick up hammers and pull-offs nicely (this goes with the neck/frets also). Kinda high output if you ask me, much more than EMG HZH4 for example on my Schecter. These would be my first upgrade, probably Nazgul and Sentinent. I'd rate them 6/10, but for the price 9.5/10, as I said they kinda impressed me, expectations were much lower. Knobs and electronics: metal knobs are very good, and the switch is average, and so is jack, and I don't really have any complaints here. Wood (sound): low-quality wood, it really sucks with resonation and sustain, but again, this is 200-250 price range and it's not like you're gonna buy this guitar to play some Skynyrd or Knopfler 😀 As I got it out of the box I was not very pleased, I mean it's crafted well and looked nice, nothing like that, but as soon I started to play it (unplugged) I got this feeling like I have a wood plank in my lap. Of course, it is expected in this price range. As soon as I plugged it in and started playing I actually started to not care about that too much. So, for this price I am VERY satisfied, it really got me into 7s and I can finally play some older Periphery, Keith Merrow, Whitechapel, even some Vai and Satriani. You can shred very nicely and easy on this guitar, but you need some nerves to make a decent setup first few days since stock setup was disgusting. Strings? I replaced them immediately because the factory strings were a disaster… I put NYXL 10-59, but the bottom string is still not thick enough for drop A, its muddy but maybe it's just the pickups or personal opinion dunno, next time I'm gonna put Elixirs nano 10-56 but will replace that .56 with .062 or something like that. After only 3 days I decided to write an honest review, I cannot dislike this guitar because it really is a beast for this price. It's that good that I plan to invest another 300 dolars just for pickups and tuner. Also, this is my first Jackson ever, and I must express my respect to get something like this for the price of few good weekends outside. In summary: 6/10, for the price 9/10. Go ahead!
I had never played a 7-string guitar before but had been thinking about it for a while so I decided on this Dinky after seeing the price and reading the reviews. I didn't want to spend a ton of money since I didn't know if I would like the 7-string. After having it and playing it for a few days now, I must say that I'm quite impressed. Like so many of the other reviews say, it's set up pretty well right out of the box. I noticed that it is very lightweight compared to my Telecaster, which I really like. Some people mentioned some rough frets but I didn't notice that on mine; it feels really good. It took some getting used to the extra string but I'm really having fun exploring the new sounds I can get with an extended range. The pickups are decent for the price and I'm really happy with it. I may look at changing them out eventually but for now I'm happy with them. I agree with a lot of the other reviews that say that Jackson could easily charge twice as much for this guitar as they do. All in all, this guitar is excellent value for the price. If you're looking for an entry-level 7-string to noodle with and see if you will like it, you can't go wrong here.Madd Dogg

This is a gorgeous guitar and plays amazingly well. The frets are rounded perfectly with no jagged edges. The frets are polished extremely well. The body is very comfortable, and the Duncan JB and '59 pickups are THE standard in rock pickups especially if you want those 80's rock tones ala VH, Ratt, Crue. BUT the ability to SPLIT the pickups makes this guitar extremely versatile for Blues, Country, and even Jazz if you roll the Tone off to warm it up. The Pro-Mod San Dimas is a sure to be a classic – Charvel guitars from the 80's are still highly sought after and retain their value very well. Not many people like to get rid of them though because they play so well and are made with quality craftsmanship. The Transparent Green Burst finish is gorgeous too. The spoke wheel makes for on the flow truss rod adjustments and it is DOUBLE reinforced – which makes it very resistant to warping. And finally, the Floyd Rose system is not the cheap version. The studs are quality metal which ensures smooth movement, the arm is also closer to the original FR bar which is also nice. TIP: wrap some plumbers tape along the outside of the collar to help close the space between it and the arm to tighten it so it doesn't swing so easily (old school trick 😉 FR bridges are incredibly stable and once you tine them and lock them down they stay in tune VERY well. Get a tremolo stabilizer or block it down to make string changes easier. Get this guitar – the combination of a basswood body, maple neck, jumbo frets, JB and '59 pickups, and a quality Floyd Rose bridge make this THE standard for rock and metal guitars. Sure, there are more expensive guitars that might have a bit more to offer…but for a grand? This is really superb quality and value rolled into one. The pickups are more than great. Seymour Duncans all around. JB in the bridge with no load tone. Cool thing is, if you feel its a tad too bright, just click down to 8 or 7 and it warms up nicely. I was afraid of the no load tone pot at first, but the little click helps tremendously. You know exactly where you are. The neck feels great. Like a thin C shaped Fender. Super fast! HSS config gives you plenty of options. It comes equipped with a Floyd 1000. Not their number one unit, but it is just fine and stays in tune very well. Even after a few dive bombs. I dont generally live in that realm, but nice to know it will hold its tune. Another thing, the guitar came set up just perfect for me. Zero adjustments needed. They're too darn huge and I often wish I knew that before buying this. The block where the neck is bolted on is huge and playing passed the 17th fret is tough. The pickup switch has a "dead spot" when switching so it's possible to go silent when moving the switch. I wish I tried the DK 24 HH FR before buying this because I feel that I would've been way more satisfied. Overall it's a great guitar. Love this guitar!!!!I was looking at guitars in a higher price range and struggling to find exactly what I wanted….hardtail, simple looks, black hardware, satin bare neck, and really visible fret markers! ( I use these a lot!) and then I saw this. It ticked ALL my boxes, except the pickups weren't as high end as the pricer models, however I decided i could always upgrade if I liked how it felt, but not the sound! But I think it sounds great, & this feels just as good to play as some of the higher spec models I tried. After having a bad experience with a 7 string jackson (just didnt like it at all for it being literally twice the price of this guitar), this really gave me a positive look on the brand again. The neck is very fast and feels like a satin finish. The pickups are good for chugging which is surprising since they're in-house pickups but theyre also great for all styles it seems (though Im not picky as I play all things from Van Halen to Revocation, with Revocation being more my style 95% of the time). The floyd was easy to set up after watching a handful of videos but I want to mention I have ordered a new trem block, an original floyd whammy bar and an extra spring as this is a floyd special afterall so the parts arent super high quality. LOVE the look of this guitar. Its way better looking in person than in pictures. Havent had any complaints about it at all. The reverse headstock is badass too. For $ Im impressed by how well this guitar playsFor reference I currently also own a PRS holcomb, a KM7 and an Ibanez iron label. This jackson actually has elements from each of these guitars that I like. Very shocked at even the fact that there's even a scarf joint in the neck for this price point. Definitely worth the money
In 2003 I bought a brand new MIJ Jackson DXMG Black. I loved that guitar, super well made, great value, etc. But the volume knob was right under the bridge pickup so I ended up not using it that much and eventually selling it. I have many guitars in my collection, several are high ones, modern and vintage Charvels and some are cool 80's and 90's vintage ones, but always missed my DXMG. A few weeks ago I saw this beautiful Cobalt guitar with hot pink pickups and I had to give it a try. This guitar is really well made! Solid and light body, perfect paint job, and a fantastic neck. The unfinished neck has rolled edges from the factory and no binding. The frets are shiny and well set, no sharp edges. The volume knob is where it should be!!! And those ceramic humbuckers really roar, by the way, the HH is my favorite configuration. This guitar wants to be play hard and fast. The heel access allows you to easily reach the highest frets. The heel itself is rounded and very comfortable. This is a Metal guitar that loves high gain amps and distortion, if you are looking for a very clean pristine sound, maybe this is not for you or you'll need to get different pickups, but if your think is fast picking, heavy distortion, palm mutting and abusing a Floyd Rose trem, this guitarbis for you.Mario

Schecter just dominates in this class. I always like to wait a year to give reviews but it was hard to wait with this guitar.
From the fast, satin smooth neck, to the low action and the tuning stability, it's just hard to believe the quality in this price range. It feels every bit as nice as my pricier guitars and that's NOT hyperbole, it's the truth.

If half stars were available, I might go 4.5 just because the active pickups, while honestly good, aren't "great".. But at this price point? I'm probably expecting too much because the feel and playability of the guitar keeps making me compare to higher classed categories.

I love this guitar! It has a great sound for rock, metal and other genre music, but mainly for metal, it's so perfect. I actually traded a Ibanez Xiphos hp330, because I was tired of the floyd rose floating saddle bridge. Nothing against it, but it wasn't for me. The Ibanez had a great sound, played beautifully and definitely good metal guitar, but I wanted something with an easier bridge. I'm glad that I bought the Schecter when Guitar Center had their annual guitar a-thon sale, and I traded my Ibanez for the Schecter and didn't cost me much. For the money it's well worth it, it's a solid guitar, electronics are great, the neck is smooth and fast, the finish is awesome and a reall eye catcher. I'm very happy with the guitar overall. I also have a Schecter bass. The stiletto and I love the Schecter brand. I'll recomend it to anyone ,from the beginner to the experience player, you can't go wrong with this guitar.John
Let me start out by saying I'm a little bias towards Schecter. That being said , this is my 3rd and probably my favorite one. I currently own the demon-6 and have owned the Synyster Gates custom S , not my style so traded it in. The Omen Extremely is absolutely amazing sounding and my favorite out of the 3 I've owned , the pickups are way better than my Demon with active pickups , these can easily handle high gains without crackling or sounding muffled. I didn't really necessarily want the coil splitting option , but glad i have it. This guitar handles clean sounds very well and the splitting option gives the guitar a lot of versatility , the neck is perfect. It reminds me of my Ibanez's , very comfortable and easy to play , it's heavier than most of my other guitars but this just adds to the sustain you get out of this guitar. I got the magenta color , which looks pink to me since I'm color blind. That's all they had in stock but I don't care , it's fine and I play at home plus it throws in some color to my collection of mostly black anyway. I don't know how Schecter continues to put these out for the price , it's solidly built and feels much more expensive. The tuners also are very tight and hardly ever go out of tune , I will continue to purchase Schecter's in the future. I can buy 4 quality built guitars from this company for the price of one Gibson. I highly recommend the Omen Extreme to anyone on the fence , once again Schecter delivers!🤘Mike G.

I went into my local guitar center yesterday and had close to 1k for a new guitar. I'm pulling off fenders and Epiphones off the wall that felt like they needed a lot of work done. I find this thing just chillin in a corner and the very first thing I do to every guitar is run my thumb and pointer finger along the neck to see if there is any sharp frets. It was smooth. Thought buzz would be bad. There was none. Thought tone would suck. Nope. Needless to say I went home with it. It does have a very few flaws. Pickup selector feels weak, tuners are so tight that they cause some sounds when moving them (stays in tune though), and pickups sound weak. What it is for $150 is a step above what Squier and Ibanez throws out in their budget price range. I can't wait to mod this thing. Despite a few flaws I'm giving it 5 stars due to it's price point.Matt
Overall: I wanted a new guitar because I primarily play Les Paul's and wanted something different. I found Kramer guitars and did some research and liked what I found but didn't want to throw a lot of money at a brand I've never played. I have played and owned B.C. Rich, Gibson, Fender, Washburn, Epiphone, and Ibanez guitars in the past and thought I found what I wanted to stick with. My Kramer Focus arrived today in the awesome purple finish. All I did was tune it up and check intonation and it was perfect. Very low action, smooth fast neck, no sharp fret edges even with the maple fretboard and a Michigan winter! The low humidity sometimes makes the frets stick out. The guitar is just awesome, it sounds good in all positions buy the middle and neck pickup are phenomenol, no buzz at all! The bridge pickup is good but I think it could be hotter so I may change that, the tuners aren't perfect but they'll definitely work, after an hour of playing and using the tremolo it holds tune very well. I highly recommend this guitar for any player, and I will definitely be entertaining the idea of purchasing more Kramer guitars from zZounds!Alex
Overall: Better than most up to Classic Vibe. The Humbucker is good. The alnico magnets are bar magnets so they are pulling threw pole pieces similar to ceramic set up. They are warm a sing with a sustain. The tuners are not bad, not top quality either but stay in tune no need to change in my opinion. The most work I did was with the frets. Now here is where the money was saved first. The radius is 12" so the flatness creates a sharp corner. The fret ends are not quite finished and the crowning is a little rough. After dressing the frets and setting the actionation ruby is a great guitar and the humbucker is a true thing of beauty. I've bought pups twice the price of the guitar and this thing still sounds better to my ear.

1 month review with guitar being setup professionally: Great pickups and tone and overall good sounding guitar after a proper setup, gorgeous nitro finish and paintjob. Relic effects are beautiful. The nitro finish feels thin enough for you to eventually make your own marks from repeated playing – a perfect way to tell a story and give the guitar character. Worn in neck feels amazing to play and not sticky to touch. Worth noting that the Pure Vintage 59 pickups on these don't have a reverse-wound middle pick, so there will be hum including positions 2 and 4. If you are easily annoyed with single coil hum, these pickups might not be for you. Also worth noting that these pickups do sound a bit warmer than a stock Fender Player pickups. These respond so MUCH better to high gain type of playing, all while still sounding amazing on low-gain and clean playing. Despite the pros, there are still some areas are lacking and needs improvement. The guitar had razor sharp frets along the binding that could easily cut you, meanwhile I have a $700 MIM fender player didn't have this problem straight out of the box. It's crazy to think that $700 guitar went through better QA than a $1200 guitar, but whatever, the frets are bound to be polished and worked on anyway with your initial setup regardless. CME's shipping page policies say "Every guitar gets a full inspection, as well as basic setup." Guitar came with an inspection card that had overall playability specs checked but some of it was questionable. The guitar was not playable at all out of the box despite letting it acclimate for over a day before opening BUT that is a given considering it spent time in a delivery truck trunk in freezing winter. However, it was a bit bogus how they even checked off volume output when the pickups were NOWEHERE near the appropriate height out of the box and there was BARELY any audible output on the treble side of the guitar. I highly doubt weather and temperature fluctuation will make the pickup screws spin by themselves to the degree at which the pickups came out of the box. Secondly, the tremolo springs at the back also weren't ******* in the appropriate depth for a either a floating or flushed trem setup – it was just sort of in the middle of the cavity. Weather fluctuation from their shop and may have affected string tension, but I also don't think it would make the claw springs in the back unscrew themselves to the degree the guitar came. Makes me wonder how thorough the inspection was. These might not matter as much to some especially those who will get their new guitars setup anyway, but it's good to note that you may still need to budget for a setup if you aren't doing it yourself. Although there could've been improvements on Fender and CME's part that I don't think could be blamed on external factors such as weather and climate fluctuations, overall, I would still 100% recommend this guitar, and it's a gem. The guitar played well after a proper setup, so I'm happy with it now. The price may be too expensive for some considering it's not made in USA, but it must be considered that this is the cheapest proper nitro-finish guitar you will currently find. The next best thing are Fender custom shop, so this guitar is perfect for those looking to enjoy vintage style paint/nitro body finish, and vintage specs without paying custom shop prices. The appearances are just a plus, since they sound and play amazing after a proper set up.Carlos T.
I've been playing for a little while, I rehearse with my band once/twice a week so my guitars definitely get played quite a bit, I've preferred Stratocasters from an early age. The shape is legendary and the tone is versatile. I own Chinese, Japanese, U.S. and Mexican Strats. This one is very comparable to my American Professional Stratocaster, the neck profile, the weight and intonation. Electronics are great, single coils produce a sweet twangy clean tone and the humbucker roars really nice with the right amount of gain/distortion. Makes it a very comfortable instrument that plays as easy as mantequilla on a hot tortilla. Only issue, (hence the 'almost comparable to MIA strats comment in the headline) are the frets… They are a little bit on the sharp side, I'm guessing it comes down to a player's preference? A competent luthier can dress the fret ends and make this one a real player/main axe. Other than the sharp frets, everything else is pretty solid and straight, the vatos down in Ensenada MX do great work producing these!Benjamin
So my story goes like this, I flew into Portland Oregon for work and immediately drove from the airport to Guitar Center. Upon walking in, someone was shredding on a guitar and it went on for a good 10 minutes. The guitar he was playing was the Candy Red Burst Fender Stratocaster Player Series. After he was done, I grabbed it and saw why he played it so long. It felt just solid in the hands. The strings, fret board and neck were silky smooth; Super easy to glide up and down with no fret buzz. The pickups are all Fender Player Stratocaster series which I have had no issue with and perform great out of the box. Also, just holding the guitar is a treat in the hands. It's a beautiful guitar. The Candy Red Burst has a very high functioning coat that gives a deep black fade anyway you turn it. It also fit my bill for something to remember Oregon by since the guitar is a deep Rose Red and Portland is know as the City of Roses.The Pau Ferro fingerboard is also eye candy as it has black veins that run through the grain matching the black hardware of the guitar. Other then that, I have had this guitar for 5 months as of this review and absolutely love it. The guitar holds its tune very well I enjoy playing it every time. Wait, you still reading this? This guitar is absolutely amazing, fiesta red is just not my color. i got this one in as a mint trade- and immediately ordered a new one in olympic white to keep.the best necks, pickups, and finish on these of any non master built guitars. i've had the wildwood 10's as well, and to me these willcutt's far outshine them. this one has the 57 soft v neck, but honestly it sits between a 65 neck carve and a 57 soft v. my new white one is the same, and they are 100% the best strat neck carves i've played. perfect to the hand of not being too big or too small. very similar to the beefy novo necks which would be my 2nd choice. beautiful subtle flamed neck, with a dark rich board. this one is dead mint, with all goodies in the limited edition willcut case. these are $4680 newif fiesta is your color- you imo will simply never find a better strat-no trades on this one, just trying to recover some of my replacement.

My teacher set this up at practice and declared it one of the best Strats he has ever played and he owns 4. He loved the neck, pickups, tone. From a distance it looks OK but up close the finish appears to have been heated and put in a freezer. The finish fracture is worse up close with thousand of spider web, broken glass specs which could not be photographed. Sounds amazing but I prefer NOS.William
All right… First, I have to thank Brad at Musicians Friend for seeing this purchase thru, for me obtaining a true Time Machine. In 1958, I would have been 9 years old, but I was already listening to Rock and Roll music on the AM radio, here in the San Francisco Bay Area(KEWB). If my parents would have given me this guitar, I know I would still have it, and now I do. I'm not a big lead player, so, I'm content to be the rhythm guy in the band. Not a problem. This guitar is Aztec Gold, but the Custom Shop aged it to Perfection. When I hold it, and play thru my Bassman Re-Issue, my mind goes now where no other guitar in my Collection can take me. I've noticed that there aren't too many reviews on these high-end axes because maybe their minds are blown by how good they feel, or they're too busy jammin' to write a review. I don't know. But this I do know, these Relics, from 50-odd years ago, will get you thinkin' about what your life would have been like IF you had one in Grade School, and how your life would have changed. Just a note: Leo Fender started making the Esquire when I was born, so maybe I feel like I'm in a parallel universe with the solid body guitar in California. So, if you think you can afford one of these Relics, pick a year, and get one that you like from the looks, and I think you'll be on your way to a totally different place when you plug in…..Hope this helps.John out by the Golden Gate Brid
Guitar arrived quickly and double boxed as a guitar off this level should be. As I tuned it up I noticed that the bridge was pulling way up, like it was never tightened to where it should be for a playable set up. So I looked down the neck and saw that the low E side appears to have more relief than the high e side, such a let down.. The nut was cut just enough to hold strings. Due to that poorly cut nut, strings.were really far from first fret So even though I already wasn't going to keep it, I plugged it in and WoW! This strat has just enough glass in the highs and still has grunt with a little drive. I'm not sure how it does both, but despite how poorly it played, it sounds incredible! If the neck wasn't twisted and it had even a decent set up, I would keep this guitar forever.D

I have had it for about one month and I have had nothing to adjust it came completely ready to play. I was surprised that the neck is so smooth with no fret ends to cut your fingers.
