A rich floriental with a star anise edge, this is sexy yet ladylike, new and yet old fashioned. Classique is a heavy scent, rather formal and evocative of the days when ladies wore the rigid foundation garments and garters represented on the bottle. But wait, this is not your grandmothers scent, womanly though it isthis is Gaultier at his best, with a wink and a nod to the past but with a kinky boot firmly planted in the here and now. Do you ever experience synesthesia with a fragrance? With music or sounds? Its a fairly rare occurrence for me personally. Le Male Le Parfum hits me right in the colors. Its like a vibrating maroon and purple. That helps you 0 with anything until you smell it, and maybe not even then. Thats only and unusual fact for a jump off point. This takes the lavender of the original, tones down the freshness, and "jams" it up with a delightful cola syrupyness. Almost a Dr. Pepper vibe. Cardamoms herbal spice swirls faintly around a warm and rich vanilla.The smells stays with you, clings to fabric and fibers. I could imagine picking up a sweater a few days later and catching whiffs of Le Parfum still on it, almost daring someone to steal your hoodie.There has to be a sweet note that isn't mentioned. It was moreso in the top but escaped me, and now I'm only following it's trail.The drydown cardamom peps back up. I think the structure is jumbled in my nose. I'm a big fan of strong smelling aftershaves, especially ones that will last on my skin/clothes for most of the day. What struck me straight away was the depth of the fragrance. It's very full bodied, and layered with different tones. From woody spiced undertones, to a more floral yet musty overtone, which compliment each other really well. The fragrance lasts for a decent amount of time throughout the day. What I like the most is that you don't need to spray on a lot, as the smell is powerful, so it will definitely last you a long time. You can definitely smell the fruity sweetness of this perfume on first spray. Strong pineapple notes. Men that work well with sweet smells would enjoy it. For myself, I find that they (including this one) tends to settle on my skin and don't keep around that fruity sweetness smell. Lasts quite a while on the skin but it does dull down after a couple of hours. Not in a bad way though and it still clings to the skin and doesn't fade completely. There are many parfums on the market that have a pleasant manly smell. Gaultier Le Beau Le Parfum is one such example. It has a woody and flowery smell that is not totally overpowering, but it is a strong scent. Out sniff test suggested it is also long-lasting! It *is* a sweet smell which is not always my favorite, but is definitely the style my wife likes the most. So happy to keep wearing it as she approves! PLEASE BRING BACK the KNOWING LOTION, and please dont even consider discontinuing the par fum spray. I was devastated last summer when I was told the lotion was being discontinued. I bought 2 bottles then and 1 lotion at Christmas hoping you would wake up to your senses and bring it back before I have exhausted my supply. Between the lotion and the accompanying par fum, I spend close to 700 a year on this fragrance and Im just one person in this world and do not understand why you are abandoning your loyal customers. I have tried a gazillion other brands including some of E.L. line that dont even come close to the uniqueness of Knowing. It does not give you a headache or make one nauseous. It is PERFECT It was recommended to me almost 10 years ago and I have used NOTHING since. It is my signature fragrance and everyday I wear it, people comment on how good I smell even after working all day I have had even men at work ask me what I am wearing, as they would like to buy the fragrance for their wife or girlfriend. Knowing is subtle, but powerful. The fragrance accompanies you like a dear friend throughout the day but is not overwhelming. The LOTION is essential in applying just after showering as it moisturizes your skin and gives you such a clean fresh smell. It will suit some people and not others just as other perfumes although they smell wonderful on others do not suit me .For me it was try before you buy at the perfume counters at big department stores , I came across Knowing this way and although after a while I could no longer smell this fragrance on myself other people could smell it on me and I have sold many bottles of this perfume just by wearing it . I am a proud Aussie but this perfume is double the price in Australia and I found Fragrance X by chance online and found their service and consistant price so wonderful . Just got this week and already a go to favourite for me for this summer. All round winning experience for me with a light, but warm, scent that goes from day to night. Starts with a distinct look from the adorable shaped bottle with the killer heels topper. Lovely deep pink coloured liquid that hints at fresh fruit, cocktails and warm summer evenings. Long lasting fragrance – a little goes a long way – could still smell hints of it after a full day at work. First used it on heat points as recommended but I prefer to dab a bit onto a cotton square and wear in bra or spritz onto clothes as I find I can be quite sensitive to perfumes on my skin. I found it smelled the same on me and lasted as long either way. Not too heavy for office or work use and not headache inducing which is often a problem with some of the heavier perfumes on the market. Top notes feel light, sugar coated and fruity, without being cloying. Gradually moving to the warmer, longer lasting notes over the day, to finish with an almost creamy, caramelised feeling base. I tried some of my mom's bottle. As many others have said – honey, honey, honey! I get patchouli drifting murkily in the undercurrent as well, but this is otherwise a totally linear dunking into a sticky pool of heady, enveloping sweetness. Lasts forever. Sprayed more liberally, it smells dense, heavy; like sinking. I really don't get any of the listed middle notes at all. There is nothing evocative or scandalous about it. I need to say that the JPG house has my heart before I write this. I have never been let down by any perfume He has put out. This scent story is incredible. When you first put it on it has an overwhelming honey note, then as it dries down you get some beautiful orange blossom coming through, at least on my skin. I have heard that on some people it smells like straight honey, which honestly with this formula I'd be fine with too. I will say that one spray too much of this will be cloying and this is a very sweet scent, so it isn't for everyone. I find that honey can be pretty polarizing. But that being said, I constantly get compliments when I wear this. This perfume is 100% a winter/cold nighttime fragrance, if you wear this in the summer they will be able to smell you perfume o the other side of the world lol. But in the winter, this is the one I constantly reach for. The sillage is 11/10, it wafts around you without being annoying to the people around you (only in winter/ nighttime!) and the longevity is more or less average, around 5-6 hours on me. The packaging is gorgeous as always, and to me, this is the perfect winter date fragrance. This is also a very sexy scent, most of the compliments I get on this are from guys. if that is what you are going for, I've seen that guys are more fond of orange/orange blossom scents, vanilla/ honey/ sweet gourmand scents, and in the summer very fresh citrusy scents like D&G Light Blue Intense. ALSO****. if you liked the JPG Classique Essence de parfum that was just discontinued, this smells very similar to me, at least on my skin.M.

PLEASE BRING BACK the KNOWING LOTION, and please dont even consider discontinuing the par fum spray. I was devastated last summer when I was told the lotion was being discontinued. I bought 2 bottles then and 1 lotion at Christmas hoping you would wake up to your senses and bring it back before I have exhausted my supply. Between the lotion and the accompanying par fum, I spend close to 700 a year on this fragrance and Im just one person in this world and do not understand why you are abandoning your loyal customers. I have tried a gazillion other brands including some of E.L. line that dont even come close to the uniqueness of Knowing. It does not give you a headache or make one nauseous. It is PERFECT It was recommended to me almost 10 years ago and I have used NOTHING since. It is my signature fragrance and everyday I wear it, people comment on how good I smell even after working all day I have had even men at work ask me what I am wearing, as they would like to buy the fragrance for their wife or girlfriend. Knowing is subtle, but powerful. The fragrance accompanies you like a dear friend throughout the day but is not overwhelming. The LOTION is essential in applying just after showering as it moisturizes your skin and gives you such a clean fresh smell. Then you only need a little of the spray, so it extends your par fum supply. Hello potential customers , my beautiful E L Knowing perfume is just that, a special perfume . It will suit some people and not others just as other perfumes although they smell wonderful on others do not suit me .For me it was try before you buy at the perfume counters at big department stores , I came across Knowing this way and although after a while I could no longer smell this fragrance on myself other people could smell it on me and I have sold many bottles of this perfume just by wearing it . I am a proud Aussie but this perfume is double the price in Australia and I found Fragrance X by chance online and found their service and consistant price so wonderful . I truly love this perfume it is my signature if you like and men even comment and ask what it is so they can buy it for the women in their lives. I am not proud to buy online instead of over the counter of our dept stores in Australia as I would love to keep the money in our country but no one can match what I can buy for at Fragrance X . I always buy multiple bottles because of postage and handling so unless I become alergic to this perfume I will always wear it as I love it so much . Do you ever experience synesthesia with a fragrance? With music or sounds? Its a fairly rare occurrence for me personally. Le Male Le Parfum hits me right in the colors. Its like a vibrating maroon and purple. That helps you 0 with anything until you smell it, and maybe not even then. Thats only and unusual fact for a jump off point. This takes the lavender of the original, tones down the freshness, and "jams" it up with a delightful cola syrupyness. Almost a Dr. Pepper vibe. Cardamoms herbal spice swirls faintly around a warm and rich vanilla.The smells stays with you, clings to fabric and fibers. I could imagine picking up a sweater a few days later and catching whiffs of Le Parfum still on it, almost daring someone to steal your hoodie.There has to be a sweet note that isn't mentioned. It was moreso in the top but escaped me, and now I'm only following it's trail.The drydown cardamom peps back up. I think the structure is jumbled in my nose. I'm quite picky with my colognes/perfumes as I'm not a fan of those that are too rich or overpowering in their smell. However I was pleasantly surprised with this Jean Paul Gaultier one, as it has a classy and subtle scent. Enough to create intrigue as to what you might be wearing and perfect for a night/day out. It has a classy, masculine scent but avoids being overpowering or cliché. While I wouldn't use it daily, it'd be one of my go-to's for a fancy night out with the wife. My husband always loves to smell good too, so when I smelled Jean Paul Gaultier's "Le Beau", I knew that he would love it as well. The first scent that I pick up on when I smell this cologne is the bergamot. You can definitely also pick up on the coconut wood. It has a very masculine, woody scent that works perfectly. The first time my husband smelled it, he fell in love. It's now his favorite scent to wear. He gets a lot of compliments on it and a lot of people, both men and women, ask him what he's wearing. It's "The original man from Jean Paul Gaultier." He created Le Beau in his own image; an ultra-sexy masculine fragrance with a fresh, powerful silage. An aromatic, woody eau de toilette built around addictive tonka bean and coconut wood combined with the fresh facets of bergamot. A fresh, powerful trail for a seductive and ultra-sexy man. Ok, so as the 1st reviewer in 2020 let me let you know, THIS IS THE REAL DEAL. I had this cologne back in high school and it was a huge hit and after I ran out I went an explored other scents knowing I already loved this one…I have finally bought it again after about 10 yrs and its still the same breath taking scent I remember it to be. im not sure what product people had that had them saying this scent lasted 35 mins (maybe they didn't add enough, who knows) but im not working on 7 hrs and it still smells as if I just put it on and I absolutely love that. this is a scent that could easily be someone's signature scent. its inviting and easily top 5 scents. if you have a 1st date night coming up this for sure is one of those "I think I'll go on a 2nd date with this person" type smells granted your not a d*ck in other areas. Many fragrances are reformulated without telling the customer giving less lasting power. It's not the case with this fragrance. It's a favourite I return to again and again. This product has nothing to do with the original Le Male perfume. Smell is totally different, sillage is of very low duration. This one (in my opinion) is probably the best in the Le Male lineup. It has this seductive sweet spicy leathery smell that is great for dates with your other half. The bottle is really cool too!
