Schecter S-1 Electric Guitar For Sale (2024 Update)

David was my salesmen. Or should I say account manager. I told him what I wanted. He said they have one in stock. I said, no. I want it straight from the schecter. No questions asked. He ordered me one. The day he said I would receive it. Was the day I received it. Great guitar. Great customer service.COREY

This is a great looking and great playing guitar, but that's about it for me. The pups and electronics have little to be desired. They'd be great for players that play Super low tunings and players that dig the whole Djent thing. I bought this for D Minor and Drop C Minor tunings and the sound was just muddy and not very articulate at all in the range. I swapped my 12-54 Strings for 13-60 and tuned it Down to A Standard and plugged it into my Blackstar Series One; then, it showed its potential. I would not recommend it for anything higher than a B tuning on these pickups. The set-Up was poor out of the box. Nasty fret buzz even when it was tuned to E Minor. The Floyd was diving once it was tuned and the intonation was off by roughly a half cent on all strings but the the high E. The fret ends are rough and the finish was sub-par. After adjusting the neck relief, rolling and crowning the frets, lowering and floating the trem, and restringing and tuning, it plays extremely well, but if a cat doesn't know how to do all that work themselves, having a pro set up to play this nicely would be a $500+ tech bill (at a good hourly rate). Therefore, in order to make it a nice instrument with a case, you'd be 2K into the cost, and I honestly wouldn't validate that for a mass produced South Korean guitar. the only reason I've kept it was because I saw potential and worked out the kinks. I also replaced the pups with a Seymour Duncan Sentient and a Seymour Duncan Pegasus with DiMarzio Pots. Now, it's a great instrument.Unexpecting the Expected

My first impression was holy cow this thing weighs like nothing. Overall the guitar is beautiful and the action is like butter. The tone of the Schecter pickups blows my EMGs away so I'm super pleased with that too. The paint job on this is incredible. The deep reds looks insane in the right lighting and it really grabs the eye. I'm not super impressed with how the paint job looks where it meets the edge of the face of the guitar. There's spots that like they did a bad job taping off the edge and there's like a white line which I assume is a bit of primer. The frets are much wider on this than my ESP which was a big change at first but actually plays a lot cleaner that way so I'm learning to love it. Overall I'm quite happy with it and I'd def buy it again. Considering picking up the six string model as well.Banks the shredder

This guitar looks brilliant. The satin blue finish is exceptionally svelte. It's a decent guitar from a playing standpoint, but is more suited for the intermediate player getting their first upgrade to a more pro-like guitar. Particular people (like myself) will be disheartened by its poor quality binding that has obvious flaws where it meets the guitar body below the top wood. This wouldn't bother me half as much if the flaws were in places I couldn't see while playing, or if there were less of them. This flaw continues throughout the whole guitar – neck, headstock, and body. Mine was supposed to be a brand new guitar, but came pre-blemished – or pre-played. It has what appears to be pick scrapes on the body below the pickups (where this type of damage is usually found). There is also a mystery substance located behind the bridge in tiny little spots. (Consistent with a sneeze spray). Above the pickups, in approximately the same place your picking hand rests, there is a wide blemish that looks like it happened post-factory. The sound is what you'd expect, the active pickups do sterilize the tone as usual. I recommend upgrading to passive high-output humbuckers for a much warmer tone. The neck feels like a thinner Les Paul type neck. Plenty of resonance and sustain with the string-thru bridge and set-neck assembly. The neck is smooth, but not fast. This guitar's tone control may as well have been left off. Slight roll backs do nothing. And even when you go full sweep, the tone only slightly changes. I pull this guitar out of tune constantly as big wide bends are a part of my style. Locking tuners would be a HUGE upgrade, and will be one of my first mods, after the passive pups, and a coil-tap. It really is a beautiful instrument. But I feel a bit ripped off for paying "new" prices for "used" equipment.Dennis H.

Had a lot of fun playing the C-1. It's a great guitar for Metal n Heavy Rock. If your on a budget this is a no brainer. The guitar has a really nice neck that isn't to fat and feels good in my hands but is not a shredder neck either/ Kinda in the middle/ The EMG's deliver bone crushing lows with a smooth bluesy type high end. Normally not a "Schecter Guy" but was one over by the pure versatility of the instrument. This guitar is also is great for down-tuning so Nails Master of Reality Sabbath n Sleep tones but can also of course due heavier music like Sepultura/ Mayhem etc. The interesting thing is that it sounds great clean – really on the neck pickup n with the right Amp like an Orange Rockerverb MkIII will get you a nice CREAM tone thou is better running thru an ENGL or REVV type amp but either way it's a solid guitar. Only down sides are the EMG"S are "muddy" at times and the tuners are low end, But if your looking for something under a grand and play Metal this Guitar won't let you down- Rawk It!TONY

Songs that were difficult for me on cheaper guitars play great on this. Love the action and responsiveness. Your fingers can dance across the fretboard effortlessly. The active EMG 85/81 pickups pair well with the mahogany body so far. Any weird tones were due to me playing around and experimenting with my Katana amp settings rather than the guitar. It came new and ready to play with minor tuning-the intonation, truss, etc were all dialed in. The finish is beautiful and smooth, the frets were in perfect shape as well.JS

I just got one of these for ~$200 off for being 'open box'. I think someone returned it due to some very minor cosmetic QC issues. The tone knob was a little high, the fretboard was bone dry and looked like they dripped some oil on it but forgot to rub it in, and the finish was a little rough in a couple spots where it meets the binding. So I dropped the knob down, oiled the fretboard, and buffed out the rough edges. Took about 30 minutes. Not even worth taking a star off in my opinion. Now for the thing that matters most, what you're really paying for here: the fretwork. It's fantastic, and stainless steel means it will stay that way. The fret ends were filed and beveled nicely and the neck binding is doing it's job. They aren't boutique shop hemispherical fret ends, but they're very nicely done. Nice and even, well crowned and polished, no sharp spots anywhere. I checked every fret between every string with a fret rocker. There are a couple of frets and a few spots on some frets where I can get it to 'rock' slightly, but it's almost imperceptible. Not enough to noticeably affect action, not really worth spot leveling. This is about as good as it gets on any mass produced guitar made anywhere at any price. Action out of the factory was higher than necessary as expected, but after putting on some slightly heavier strings and adding some relief I was able to drop the action down to ~2/64th of an inch or 0.75mm on both the 1st and 7th strings at the 12th fret. That's absurdly low for a mass produced guitar. I can make some buzz if I try, but not even enough to hear through an amp, and not at all when I'm playing normally. The rest? Locking tuners, fluence moderns, stainless frets; you already know what these are. They all work as expected. Bends are very smooth. The satin neck feels great. Palm muting is extremely easy and comfortable thanks to the flat, angled bridge. Tone is great, plays great. Fantastic for the priceguitaranon

Overall: Very nice piece of work by schecter research. very easy play, i like the way the guitar feels, and how easy it is to play, as a player with small hands. the color is more a sapphire blue, the shifts to purple. not like the picture shown in a teal green. that was a disappointment, although i will keep it as it is.the sustainic feature is different from what im use to. but will like it once i am use to it. the guitar sounds terrific. and what you would expect with the price tag. overall very pleased with it. wish they were more color options to choose from. zZounds is a good retailer to buy from. i have bought from them a couple times over the years and been treated fairly, never any issues with their help or knowledge. pay as you go is a good deal for people who don't want to pay all at once.Jackie

Very impressed with this guitar. Workmanship is exemplary, Lots of tonal variations. Enough guts for metal, yet easy to get clean strat type tones. The sustainiac system is freaky. With a little practice you can really use it to your advantage. Just when you need it, its like someone kicked in a super compressor for amazing sustain. I haven't done much dive-bombs but this guitar stays in tune. Really stays in tune!!! Big plus. Im putting my other guitars away and will use this for everything going forward. The neck is nice and thin, its a little wider than I thought. Cant compare the width to my SG Angus Young in this aspect, but still very playable for small hands. This is a very well built guitar for the money. The UV finish is amazing. Pictures don't really give you a good idea of how awesome it looks in person. The carbon fiber binding on the body and neck is a nice touch. I love the ultra thin C neck… so smooth playing with the ebony fretboard and satin finish on the neck back. For anyone trying to decide between (Sustainiac) vs the EMG 66 (neck), I had the EMG 57/66 version first, but returned it (bad volume pot). The EMG 66 is a very clear sounding pickup and I did like it, but ultimately the Sustainiac when used as a neck pickup sounds nice as well. Not as clear and articulate, more of a fat single coil sound. I think the benefit of having the Sustainiac outweighs the clearer sounding EMG 66. I don't own a proper guitar amp and usually play through my computer, nice having the Sustainiac to get that harmonic feedback that would usually take a large amp cranked up. I don't think you can really go wrong this guitar.Jason G.

I've had this guitar for roughly 6 months, and I am absolutely blown away by it The locking but hold your strings in tune, for what feels like forever. And if they get out of tune, just use the bridge tuners. I am very pleased with the tone that both the bridge and neck pickups produce, I've never used an active pickup before. But this being my first, I am impressed. The 26.5" scale length is nice, it allows for some lower tunings while keeping the rich and dark tone. With the oem strings, I don't recommend tuning any lower than drop G, I've been experimenting in GCGCFAD, and I've ordered a little heavier strings (2-4 gauges thicker). It is pretty expensive, but the craftsmanship is extraordinary. If you're looking for a beautiful 7-string, with a floyd rose, then this is for youSmartAlec

Playable out of the box…but a slight neck tweaking, raising a few of the saddles, intonating the low E, and lowering the pickups made it VERY nice/playable. The neck it slightly thicker than my "thin" C Apocalypse neck…probably the paint. Out of the box it was OK but had a few slight buzzes and sounded "busy"…too much distortion going on…no definition, no individual note clarity with chords. Now…it's a beauty. Good sustain on all strings…all frets. It sounds "clearer" even when heavily distorted. It's worth the price. I have 3 Schecters now…I bought a Reaper for my lady.Joe Rocker

I just love the natural wood grain of ash. I believe this ad said mahogany body but I found another ad that said it was swamp ash. I'm sure it's ash because of the obvious wood grain that shows through on mine. I would expect this guitar to cost much more. Made in S. Korea. They make some of the best guitars.Gecadero

This guitar plays and sounds great. I was looking for a guitar for a while, and played a ton of different brand and different price range guitars for a few months, and I kept coming back to this one. This guitar plays as good if not better as many guitars priced much higher that I played. I am very happy with the purchase. There are a couple very minor blems in the binding, but something you wouldnt notice if you didnt look very close. I think the EMG pickups sound great not only with high gain, but also with clean tones. The neck pickup (85) has a great chimey sound with cleans in particular. All and all very happy with the guitar.Scott

AMS had the guitar shipped extremely quick! Schecter USA did an great job setting up the guitar as well as the guitar was already completely set up to play. As a whole this guitar really delivers in every aspect! My favorite feature is the ultra-thin C neck. It's perfect. You can get such a variety of tones with this guitar. I play a whole range of genres from metal to jazz, and it's perfect for everything. My favorite setting so far is the 2nd pickup option (75% neck, 25% bridge,) with the tone knob rolled down a little. You still get the defined attack of the bridge pickup, but the tonal clarity of the neck pickup. All ln all, my weapon of choice.Jonathan Clough

I bought this during the craze a few years ago over Schecter guitars. Got a great deal. As some people are saying, you def get your monies worth with this baby. The only bad thing is the gold on the pickup covers wears off after prolonged usage. Other than that this baby can be used for professional performances. Best used with 10-46's for a better tone. The Duncan pickups are a bit sensitive to the amp you are using. You can use the same setting in one amp and get a fuzzy sound and in another get a great sound, so it all depends on what type of gear you have. Rock on with this one boys….. The Schecter C-1 Classic is probably the most bang for your buck out there in the guitar world. Better than any Les Paul I've ever gotten a hold of, it has been my staple instrument for 4 years now, and I will NEVER get rid of it. The 5 way switch with Seymour Duncan JB/59 pickups makes this instrument unbelievably versatile. Not only is the tone of this guitar incredible, the guitar itself is simply gorgeous, and those inlays shine like crazy when they're under stage lights. I have nothing but good things to say about this instrument. Do yourself a favor and add this one to your collection!!Schecter6262

Overall: I was browsing through zZounds like I always do. Looking at what I have to have next. Lol!! You all know what I mean. I have been looking at Flying V and explorer type guitars for years, but I never bite. I always buy a Les Paul. Well I came across this Schecter V-1 Custom that really looks great, and even better I saw they had a scratch and dent for 620$. That’s almost 400$ off. I thought to myself there must be something pretty banged up to be 400$ off, but let’s hope it’s on the back. I can always send it back. Well I ordered it, and when it came even my wife wanted to see what was wrong with it. I can’t find anything except for some minor pick scratching on the pick guard. The guitar other than that is flawless. I was astonished. You pull a guitar off the wall at guitar center that’s been played by 300 people and is all beat up and grimy. They don’t give you a break on that!!!! Anyway enough about that. On to the good stuff. This guitar made me smile right out of the box. It looks great. I dropped the bridge a couple of turns, and it was right there. No set up needed. No buzz. Intonation is dead on. I was really happy with that. I was skeptical about the pickups. I usually swap out everything for EMG’s. I use all different types of them. Het set, 57/66, and 81/85 all in my Gibson Les Paul standards. Not a worse sounding pickup than a Gibson paf. So when I plugged this V-1 into my Laney irt I pretty much was in disbelief. The Pasadena paf pickup was so pleasing. I had to dial my head in a little. Going from a Les Paul style to an all mahogany body obviously is gonna be a much muddier sound, but I got it dialed in easily to my liking. Pickups are fantastic. Very close to the 57/66 EMG set. I have an Epiphone Les Paul Standard I wish I could get these pickups to try in it. Wow. I love this Schecter. What a great guitar. I paid 620$ for it, and at the 999$ regular price this is a steal. I haven’t put it down since I got it. Thank you zZounds for my prompt delivery and I never have any service issues with zZounds. The pay as you play option is so awesome. Sound: Soundwise, the guitar is somewhere between my '14 Gibson 339 (bridge bucker only) and my '16 Les Paul High Performance – it's not brash or shrill, and doesn't quite do traditional jazz tones on demand, but fits pretty much anything else. I didn't have to do much EQ tweaking on my amps versus my other bucker-equipped guitars. Even when coil-tapped, electronics are quiet – no extraneous noise or problems. Sustain is very, very good, which I attribute to the through-body string arrangement and overall choice of wood and the resonance of the particular pieces of lumber this was put together with. Features: Features, it's pretty basic, but most V-type guitars are. Locking tuners were a solid choice, they're Schecter-branded but do the job and have a solid feel and good tuning ratio. Compensated nut and overall fretwork are excellent. There was no need to break out the luthier tools to fix anything at all. Coil tap is something you won't likely use daily, but it's there as an option and doesn't detract from anything. Ease of Use: I sounded good pretty much right away with it; it wasn't out of place with my other guitars at all and I have both budget and relatively expensive ones. It played and felt different from any of the others, which is a good thing – because that takes me to different places when sitting down to write and perform, and it's definitely a good shade of paint to have in my available palette of sound. Quality: Quality is spot on for something in its price range. Nothing is out of place or screams "this is cheap" – fit and finish are decent, the purple top is quite stunning. The only negative mark I can give is that it didn't come with *any* printed manual or documentation, just truss and bridge adjustment allen wrenches. No promotional materials, no obligatory case sticker, etc. Value: An excellent value for what it is – it's worlds above the baseline V-type guitars that sell for a couple hundred dollars less. You can tell where that price difference went in the electronics, in the fit and finish, in the fretwork. Manufacturer Support: Haven't dealt with the company at all other than the web-based warranty registration, and doubt I'll need to. The Wow Factor: I've wanted a V for a couple years now, I'd never owned one in twenty-some years of playing and it just seemed like a fun option to have. I also have been looking for a purple guitar that wasn't equipped with a Floyd Rose or a Strat for a while now…and…this checked off both boxes. I may not play *better* with it than my other stuff, but I sound good, and it looks damn nice. Overall: Consistent, solid build, looks nice, feels decent across the board. Honestly, the only point of contention I'd upgrade from the factory is the pickup switch – compared to the aircraft-grade switch in my '16 Les Paul High Performance, it just feels cheap. It's average quality, don't get me wrong, I'm just spoiled. That said, the little stuff is right – the top binding looks good, the pickguard doesn't look nor feel cheap in person, etc. Guitar is light but not featherweight – you know you've picked it up and when it's being played, but isn't a boat anchor by any means. Balance is surprisingly good given the locking tuners – there's no neck dive to speak of at all. Tuners are very, very functional – it holds tune well, and string changes were a breeze (I use stainless 10s on everything, so the stock ones had to go!) Pickups are not super-hot aggressive metal ones – they sound good both clean and with gain. Bridge and neck sound substantially different in character, which is quite nice, and the coil-tap sounds are also very usable especially clean. Action out of the box was perfectly playable; I'm a perfectionist and wanted it set up to my usual "not quite shredder, but lower than medium" and it took only a few minutes to tweak. Fretwork is consistently good across the board – nothing sharp or out of balance, intonates without issue. Compound radius fretboard and binding make for effortless playing, which is quite nice.Robert

Nice overall guitar no issues- came out of the box well setup although I still have all my guitars checked. Good neck feel and PUPs sound very good. PUPs not as high output as I like but can be used just as they are depending. They are hot enough for most of the players I know. My only complaint is I feel the body should be clear coated not stained. A stained body guitar should cost less in my opinion. I didn't return it over this because I like the guitar- which should tell you something.Doc Holiday

The on-paper specs are perfect for anyone that wants a "more modern" Gibson. You get the 24.75 scale, HH, Tune-o-matic bridge, and vintage look of a Gibson/Ibanez Destoyer but upgraded with more modern features – the shredding neck, graphite nut, and the straight in-line headstock (for better tuning stability than more cattywampus tuning key configurations… Gibson/Epi…); and all for what amounts to about half of a similarly-spec'd lower-end Gibson. Made in South Korea, which is a big plus in my book: I've had nothing but great experiences with SK guitars, and this is no exception. I bought with the intention of swapping the pickups and tuners out, but the pickups were quite nice out of the box: much clearer than I expect for guitars in this price range. I threw in a Gibson PAF bridge and a really hot Seymour Duncan SH-6 neck, and I can't put the guitar down. So many great tones to explore through, and lots of dynamics with the on-board split— that's right!— I forgot to mention— the guitar also comes with a coil split. The one piece of hardware you may want to replace is the toggle switch (a bit wobbly), which is pretty easy and cheap to replace- definitely not a dealbreaker imo. If your looking for a cool-looking, inspirational guitar that pulls you through a portal to the 70's, but won't cost you an arm and a leg, then absolutely check this one out.Hoverround

This is my 6th Schecter so I am very familiar with the brand. I wanted to add an explorer style guitar to the collection, I saw Schecter offered the E-1 an it was a done deal. The tiger stripes in the maple top are very defined and deep, almost 3D. Mine has the same burst on the back and neck revealing a beautiful piece of mahogany. The rosewood on the fingerboard is a very dark deep color, frets are finished very smooth with no fret buzz even with low action. The Schecter Alnico pick ups sound spectacular from a full bodied clean tone to a ballsy chomp and squawk in drive mode. The inlays look super, nice finishing touch. Grover tuners…Tone pros bridge, perfect. Schecter, right out of the box, as always.Gator

As a Schecter user since 2002, I've been able to see their products improve from year to year. With this Hybrid Hellraiser, the build of this guitar is borderline flawless. A great combination of the SLS body style but the audio girth of their Hellraiser models. For a 7 string, it is about as light and fast as possible. Even though it's meant to handle the heaviest of metal, the neck is smooth enough to deal with a variety of styles. The stock locking tuners are solid as is my favorite EMG combination the 66/57 which provides all the goods. Headroom but gain, bite but warmth. To top it off, the looks of the guitar is as classy as possible. From whatever light is shining on it, the trans black is either a slight green, or a dark grey. So the personality of the guitar varies as much as what you choose to play on it. I've yet to own a bad Schecter. And this is the best one yet. It leaves all LTD's and Ibanez's in this price range in the dust.Druzovich

You do not have to spend $5,000 to achieve big boy vibe. The features on this guitar well exceed the price. I am pretty blown away with the impression it’s made and I just got it. After a good set up this guitar will gladly catch anything you thrown at it. You will definitely feel like a rock star with a Blackjack in your hands. The tone capability seems to be endless, I can’t really find an end to them. If you buy one of these, I promise you will be very happy that you did. Guitar dealers should be a little intimidated by this one because once you’ve got this one, you’re guitar buying fever will be quenched for quite awhile.Kevin

Overall: Ok lets start of with , I own PRS, Gibson, Fender, Epiphone… Never crossed my mind to ever try a Schecter . But i was interested in the Sustainiac pickup, so i took a chance and bought this model because i did not want the active EMG pick up , wanted active . Now this guitar is not cheap as you can see. So here it is open the box amazed at what i saw, stunning guitar, Came set up perfect slight tuning adjustment that was it , the intonation was right on..Lets talk neck ..thin 'C' with a 12”-16” Compound Radius ..Are you kidding ? Wow. Its probably the best i ever played compound radius along with a thin 'c' neck is like surf & turf…..Ebony fretboard ..super smooth tight grain , body and neck finish is flawless binding is perfect ,the pickups are real nice i am loving sustain and its real nice how they made it very adjustable . Only have a few days and i cannot put it down .sounds awesome , i play blues mostly and some rock and Santana, the sound is very clear and clean, i play through a Marshall dsl all tube, fender tube, and a Vox …On boost or other distortion it real kicks. .A…. I am very happy and would recommend this guitar to anyone regardless of the type of music you play , seems to cover a lot.. also its pretty light i would say around 7lb few oz's…it also has a set neck not a bolt on… Very impressed with this, only regret is i never bought one earlier..John

As a Schecter user since 2002, I've been able to see their products improve from year to year. With this Hybrid Hellraiser, the build of this guitar is borderline flawless. A great combination of the SLS body style but the audio girth of their Hellraiser models. For a 7 string, it is about as light and fast as possible. Even though it's meant to handle the heaviest of metal, the neck is smooth enough to deal with a variety of styles. The stock locking tuners are solid as is my favorite EMG combination the 66/57 which provides all the goods. Headroom but gain, bite but warmth. To top it off, the looks of the guitar is as classy as possible. From whatever light is shining on it, the trans black is either a slight green, or a dark grey. So the personality of the guitar varies as much as what you choose to play on it. I've yet to own a bad Schecter. And this is the best one yet. It leaves all LTD's and Ibanez's in this price range in the dust.Druzovich

You do not have to spend $5,000 to achieve big boy vibe. The features on this guitar well exceed the price. I am pretty blown away with the impression it’s made and I just got it. After a good set up this guitar will gladly catch anything you thrown at it. You will definitely feel like a rock star with a Blackjack in your hands. The tone capability seems to be endless, I can’t really find an end to them. If you buy one of these, I promise you will be very happy that you did. Guitar dealers should be a little intimidated by this one because once you’ve got this one, you’re guitar buying fever will be quenched for quite awhile.Kevin

Overall: Ok lets start of with , I own PRS, Gibson, Fender, Epiphone… Never crossed my mind to ever try a Schecter . But i was interested in the Sustainiac pickup, so i took a chance and bought this model because i did not want the active EMG pick up , wanted active . Now this guitar is not cheap as you can see. So here it is open the box amazed at what i saw, stunning guitar, Came set up perfect slight tuning adjustment that was it , the intonation was right on..Lets talk neck ..thin 'C' with a 12”-16” Compound Radius ..Are you kidding ? Wow. Its probably the best i ever played compound radius along with a thin 'c' neck is like surf & turf…..Ebony fretboard ..super smooth tight grain , body and neck finish is flawless binding is perfect ,the pickups are real nice i am loving sustain and its real nice how they made it very adjustable . Only have a few days and i cannot put it down .sounds awesome , i play blues mostly and some rock and Santana, the sound is very clear and clean, i play through a Marshall dsl all tube, fender tube, and a Vox …On boost or other distortion it real kicks. .A…. I had been trying to get my hands on this specific guitar for a long time! It was well worth the wait. A baritone guitar with what is basically a built-in ebow and a kill switch?!!!! This axe is a formidable weapon with which to spark creativity and compose ground rumbling riffs, or simply to have fun and make crazy sounds. It's gorgeous on top of that. It plays every bit as well as much more expensive guitars. The icing on the cake was that Felipe from Sam Ash kept me informed every step of the way (the guitar was on back-order) until the guitar arrived safely at my doorstep.Thomas

I've been using this beauty for like 6 months now, there isn't a thing that doesn't make me mad about it! I mostly play doom/death metal which requires going lower than C in tuning. It came tuned in B since it's kinda considered as a baritone which means you cannot go higher than C, although I did only once when I tuned up to Eb with the original strings which I think were 12s or up which wasn't clever at all because the A string snapped eventually after tuning it down to Bb and trying to tune it back up to C. I find 11 gauge strings are the perfect ones for this guitar because it's easier to tune up and play barre's. But you can always go higher in gauges as longs as you stay lower than C which will also allow you to use it as a bass. I just love how low I can go with tuning without being so worried about fret buzz. Guitar plays well on both channels and pickups, but I find the Sustainiac (Bridger) to sound better for cleans/acoustic. You willl only enjoy the Sustainiac when you figure out how to adjust and play with it. Simply put: Long, terrific sustain. I usually plug my guitar to the UX2 whether I'm jamming or recording which sounds beautiful with the right effects and tweaks. It doesn't sound bad at all even when plugged into the Boss MT-2 and a cheap Roland Cube. Restringing couldn't be easier with the lockings. I noticed that the bridge might need a change but I thought I'd leave it for now until it's totally worn out. The paint job could've been a bit better in some spots, but it's almost 99% perfect. I only wish they'd used any type of wood for the fretboard other than rosewood; it's just irritating when it gets dirty all the time. Overall, this piece of equipment is at the top for me. It's a great value and perhaps the best investment I've made in an instrument. Absolutely worth it!Toot

An absolutely awesome axe that has everything! Took a little while for the bridge set up but holds tune really well. Playability is excellent, I love the feel and the quality is excellent. Ebony fretboard, stainless frets are so smooth, neck is super stable, tones are versatile and quality electronics. No gig bag but frankly I prefer to spent the money on the guitar. My first Schecter and won't be my last for sure.Andy

I purchased this as my first 7 string. About the only gripe I had was that I needed to tweak the height of the saddles but that's to be expected. The guitar feels amazingly comfortable to play! The neck is smooth for sliding, the thin C is perfect for my hand size. The pickups are pretty versatile and articulate, letting you cover almost any genre from blues and jazz time hard rock. I think the pickups are pretty great for classic heavy metal but I would not recommend for extreme or death metal. I feel like buying another one and switching the bridge pickup for a Nazgul because I can't quite let myself get rid of those Super Rock iis.El Guitarrista

I'm mainly a ESP player but thought I'd try one of these I caught on sale. I was a amazed at the quality for a guitar at that price range. It's solid, balanced and stays in tune very well. The pickups are very good for the price range. I would recommend this to anyone that's an upcoming guitarist that's on a budget. It really is a good guitar.Jay

This is a great guitar, clearly crafted for fast, articulate playing with heavier distortion. I'm new to active pickups, tending towards Seymour Duncans and Dimarzios (passive models at least), but I have to say I'm sold on the EMGs. They have a bit more soul than the EMG 81, 85, and 89 models I've played in stores – but they still cut through high distortion pedals with a lot of clarity. The most annoying thing, and I think it's a property of the Flying V body shape, the neck definitely tries to fall to the floor a lot – so you have to keep the headstock way up high for the guitar to feel balanced. Someone remarked to me that the action feels high, and it perhaps is, but somehow it's just so easy to play well with the overall feel of the fingerboard and neck. I picked the satin silver finish cause I thought it looked cool and futuristic, but if you want a more traditional paint the black finish might work. One other note, it sounds good most of the time, but through my brighter Vox AC4 amp, it's quite piercing, unless the treble is turned most of the way down. Overall, I wouldn't want all my guitars to sound like this but it does what it's meant to do really well.Shredder

I didn't keep this guitar, but only because I decided I'd rather have the hard tail. Everything on the guitar is top notch. The fretwork is incredible and the stainless steel frets are so smooth to play on. Pickups sounded great as well for blues and rock.Brandon
