Schecter Pt Special Electric Guitar For Sale (Jan 2023 Update)

This was set up to perfection out the box.(this has never happened to me ever!!!!) Great fret work,no sharp ends, no sprout, no buzz, but super low action. Make no mistake, this is a shredder made to look like a tele. Coil split works great, and u can get that classic tele sound in the middle position, but the bridge pickup roars. Nice warm sound with clarity. The bevel and tummy cut make this a very comfortable instrument. The neck heal has great fret access. Im just blown away by this thing. So much bang for your buck. The only thing i wish they added was locking tuners. Not that it loses tune, but they make for a quicker restring. The locking tuners on my nick Johnston Schecter should be on this. Dont let the low price fool you, this is a great guitar, even gig/recording worthyJake

Fantastic. Beautiful green finish. Licensed Bigsby works great, holds a tune. Nice pickups, bridge is on the kow output side a bit… no real death metal chugs. I play stuff ranging from NOFX to Reverend Horton Heat and this guitar is a real player. The coil-tapping also makes this a mean ska machine. My only complaint, and this is petty, is that they didn't do something a little more eye-catching than dot inlays… split crowns, or blocks I think could've really popped. I have some significantly higher-priced guitars, and I find myself enjoying this just as much as, or sometimes more than those. If you're more into playing stuff on the metal side, consider something else. But if you're anywhere from honky-tonk to hardcore, you could really enjoy this.Niles

It really looks good with the black pick guard. I am also amazed at how well it stays in tune with the Bigsby. The controls are straightforward, and yet they offer so much variety in tone! The split coils for the pickups are great. You can get anything from a twangy Tele to the warmth of a Les Paul, and everything in between. It's great how many different sounds I've gotten out of it in just a few hours of playing around. Can't wait to take it to rehearsal this week. Gorgeous fit and finish. Maple roasted neck is perfection. Pickups are amazing with coil tapped option offer so many tones that it seems like it will never end! Out of the 6 schecters i own. This is my number one choice. Best tele style guitar!Eric

Beautiful guitar, sounds great and easy to play. I had to adjust the humbucker on the neck just a hair. Other than that it was perfect. I called and asked for a discount and was given 15% off. It was that easy. I was a little reluctant to spend that much without playing it first and also never playing a schecter before. Definitely not disappointed. This is a really fantastic guitar for the price, the finish and feel of it are overall brilliant and easily comparable (if not better than) my Player Telecaster. All of the usual Schecter touches are there – great frets, beautiful neck etc. The guitar isn't perfect though – the neck pickup is a bit dark I fine but at least its replaceable. I'm also experiencing some neck dive when using with a strap – think it just requires a thicker strap but it's a shame because I'd managed to buy one that matched the beautiful finish perfectly! Overall – great guitar with one or two areas for improvement.Chris B.

The trem block was too short for the springs to clear the back route. They literally dragged across the inner wood. Therefore, no tuning stability whatsoever. I lowered the bridge closer to the body and tightened the claw springs to pull the bridge flat on the backside. Now it doesn't float but I can dive bomb and it stays reasonably in tune. The neck and playability are amazing! Love the tone!Jason

The guitar is great for people who enjoy Tele's but want something nicer without over paying for a player series. If you know how to use locking tuners, it will stay in tune no matter how much you dive on the Trem bar. The Trem bar does require a heavy push in, but works fantastically. Also really like the smooth, satin feeling finish on the neck. I'm just more in favor of two way trems.Jeremy

Overall: I love this guitar, it is contoured to fit and easy to play. I'm not a great guitarist, I'm an ASCAP songwriter and just recently started playing electric as I have used acoustic guitars for the last 50 years. I'm excited about the number of different tones this guitar can create. It also stays in tune very well between uses. A great combination of the SLS body style but the audio girth of their Hellraiser models. For a 7 string, it is about as light and fast as possible. Even though it's meant to handle the heaviest of metal, the neck is smooth enough to deal with a variety of styles. The stock locking tuners are solid as is my favorite EMG combination the 66/57 which provides all the goods. Headroom but gain, bite but warmth. To top it off, the looks of the guitar is as classy as possible. From whatever light is shining on it, the trans black is either a slight green, or a dark grey. So the personality of the guitar varies as much as what you choose to play on it. I've yet to own a bad Schecter. And this is the best one yet. You do not have to spend $5,000 to achieve big boy vibe. The features on this guitar well exceed the price. I am pretty blown away with the impression it’s made and I just got it. After a good set up this guitar will gladly catch anything you thrown at it. You will definitely feel like a rock star with a Blackjack in your hands. The tone capability seems to be endless, I can’t really find an end to them. If you buy one of these, I promise you will be very happy that you did. Guitar dealers should be a little intimidated by this one because once you’ve got this one, you’re guitar buying fever will be quenched for quite awhile.Kevin

But i was interested in the Sustainiac pickup, so i took a chance and bought this model because i did not want the active EMG pick up , wanted active . Now this guitar is not cheap as you can see. So here it is open the box amazed at what i saw, stunning guitar, Came set up perfect slight tuning adjustment that was it , the intonation was right on..Lets talk neck ..thin 'C' with a 12”-16” Compound Radius ..Are you kidding ? Wow. Its probably the best i ever played compound radius along with a thin 'c' neck is like surf & turf…..Ebony fretboard ..super smooth tight grain , body and neck finish is flawless binding is perfect ,the pickups are real nice i am loving sustain and its real nice how they made it very adjustable . Only have a few days and i cannot put it down .sounds awesome , i play blues mostly and some rock and Santana, the sound is very clear and clean, i play through a Marshall dsl all tube, fender tube, and a Vox …On boost or other distortion it real kicks. .A…. I am very happy and would recommend this guitar to anyone regardless of the type of music you play , seems to cover a lot.. also its pretty light i would say around 7lb few oz's…it also has a set neck not a bolt on… Very impressed with this, only regret is i never bought one earlier..John

I have to say, this guitar is built amazingly well. Not only the finish, hardware, and aesthetics, but the fell of this guitar is fantastic. The neck is smooth and is a standard modern feel. But you still get that great vintage feel. The start like cutouts make it very comfortable and the angled neck plate where the neck and body are joined make this and easy player. The electronics sound decent and have some good tones out of it. Coil splitting makes it pretty authentic in the tele realm. And a convincing Les Paul-esque in humbucking mode. Overall I m very impressed with this guitar and it is really solid. The hardware was well beyond my expectations as well. I wanted a tele deluxe style guitar and I can happily and confidently say that this was the best decision for what I was looking for. I highly recommend this guitar. Feels like most of the $1500 to $2000 guitars that I have either owned or played over the years as far as quality.Barry B

This thing. I absolutely love the tone. At first I wondered if the bridge position was a little too far from the bridge for my personal tastes, but no. It sounds wonderful. The middle position is my absolute favorite, those deep bottoms and bright tops. The neck position is lovely for jazz and blues. When you pull up the knobs and coil split, you get a surprisingly bright chime compared to other schecters I have played. The neck is easy to maneuver, it keeps tune better than any guitar I own, and the bigsby is a perfect match for this work of art. Side note, this guitae is definitely a bit on the heavy side, and has little to no neck dive.Easa Lynn

Great guitar, SS frets, active fishman pups. Fast feel, ebony fretboard. This was my first Schecter guitar and the quality at the price point amazes me. Out of the box was set up, small adjustments and a little tweaking for intonation. This one in particular is pretty versatile. With combo of amps, and pedals I can get any time I want. I don’t use the push pulls, can’t tell a huge different in the sound but their are 2 different voicing. I would buy this guitar again for sure.Phil

I've never really been a fan of this body style, but something about this one just embedded itself into my head. I wanted it, and so I got it. Maybe it was the brand, I've always been a fan of Schecter. Maybe it was the color, the antique faded one just seems "classier". Or maybe it was the 7pc neck-thru, or the fishman fluence pups. It's probably all of those things that drove me do want this guitar so bad oh, and now that I have it, I'm not disappointed. The build quality is very good. I needed to do a few adjustments, truss and intonations on a few strings, but 15 mins and I was right where I wanted to be. Otherwise, no physical issues or blemishes. Okay, I've never played on these pups before, so I'm pleased to say that they sound amazing. They are definitely focused more on the highs, but the lows are there and still prominent enough to play some chugging devil music (<3 hail Satan lol). Got some coil tapping on both knobs so… Fun times ahead, trust. The PT SLS ELITE looks great, feels great, sounds great, tastes great (I licked it, its mine), so logic dictates that it must be great. Makes sense to me.Scott

Overall: Some folks in a Schecter group I'm in recommended zZounds and I'm happy they did. I ordered this bad boy at noon on a Friday and it was here at noon the following day – no joke. That's with free shipping. Let me get the negative out of the way first: the setup. Even as a prior Floyd Rose owner, I've lost a day and a half trying to fix the poor setup this guitar came with but to no avail. I will have to take it to a tech to get it set up properly. Out of the box, the bridge float angle was off and the D-string saddle was as far forward as it could go which meant it actually made contact with the body of the guitar on big divebombs. After endless tinkering and a re-stringing, this guitar absolutely will not stay in tune when getting on the tremolo more than about 50% in either direction and that's a damn shame. Going through a bigger company like Sweetwater that inspects all guitars, this likely wouldn't have been an issue. So, buyer beware here. Floyd Rose's are a daunting challenge even for experienced buyers so I'd say it's unacceptable to send any FR guitar off without a proper setup. Onto the good. This is a kick ass guitar. The neck is fast as hell and overall the construction is very sturdy. It plays great and sounds just as good. Besides the setup, the guitar came in absolutely perfect condition – not a single blemish to be found anywhere. This is my 4th Schecter and I've never owned a bad one. Very much looking forward to tearing it up with this bad boy once it gets a proper setup.Samuel

The guutar is is sweet looking the finish is smooth. Can't tell you how it sounds because I could never get it to stay in tune. I know it's because of the Floyd Rose bridge. No matter how many times I try and no matter how many videos I watch. I can never get this version of the FR to work right. I have orhe guitars with a FR but they are the partially fixed version of the bridge. This one I call the floating FR. Anyway I returned the guitar maybe I just suck. A guitar tech I met once said the best way to work with a Floyd Rose is not to buy a Floyd Rose. Anyway great looking a feeling guitar just couldn't play it.Marc

I seen this thing and being also a car guy, I had to have it. I honestly didn't expect much, but not sure why I didn't. I own 4 other Schecter guitars. Never had a bad one and they have always been good quality but I have also never had one that grabbed me as a go to guitar. You know one that says hey you're coming gigging with me tonight. This one does. I find myself playing this one a lot. However, it didn't start that way. When I got it the bridge wasn't level, it needed a set up and I prefer 9's for string anyway comes with 10s. This fought me every step of the way doing a set up. Then when I got done and plugged it in, I was underwhelmed. It just didn't sound good. Then again, I haven't played EMG's in a guitar in a very long time, maybe 10 years. I set it aside, went back to my regulars. This thing kept calling me. So finally I sat down and spent an hour with it, tweaking my amps and finally found the EQ settings that brought it to life. Basically it was like a premium race car, but was running on Regular fuel. I need to spend some time, give it some high octane. I haven't put it down now for at least 3 weeks and it is my go to guitar. It gets to see it first live gig this weekend. So far in practices it's doing everything I could want it to do It cuts through the mix. It is identifiable as me playing. Just sounds great. Every note is clear.Jeff

Though I bought a so-called 'b' grade it was rated as such because of a minor flaw to the body finish from being dropped at some point. Upon delivery the neck needed adjustment but that is to be expected with any purchase online of a midpriced guitar and once that was done it is a perfectly good guitar. Not a thing wrong with it. Pickups are pretty hot, hotter than I expected and the other hardware is top quality for in the price range, you won't get better that way. I used to play my Stratocaster daily and have only used it twice since getting the PT. What can I say? It's a blast. The neck is a little wider across the board but I'm adjusting to it. Gearorphange gave me a great deal and the delivery was fast. I highly suggest them for any working sales relationship.walteboncze-0

Overall: I've always wanted a tele but I'm not a big fan of Fender's 9.5" neck radius and I wanted coil splitting humbuckers. I also wanted a maple neck with a satin finish on the back. This guitar is very spartan and only offers the one tone and volume pot but I actually like the simplicity. The neck feels great and isn't too thin; very playable. It is everything I've come to expect from Schecter; perfectly dressed frets, great hardware and an awesome finish = incredible value for the price. The pickups sound great. You can really dial in that tele twang with the coils split, but you can also get great rock and metal tones as well. The pole pieces on the pickups are huge. The pickups are very expressive and have incredible gain for passives. I was a little skeptical since they didn't have height adjustable pole pieces but honestly I don't think I'll ever swap these out. It is a very heavy guitar, about a pound heavier than my Schecter Tempest Custom, which I've always considered to be on the heavier side. I prefer a heavier guitar so it doesn't bother me, though it does make it a bit unbalanced. I believe the extra heft lends to a very resonant sound. The only negative comments I have about this guitar are that the tone pot is very easy to turn with barely any resistance, which makes it easy to bump when splitting/unsplitting the coils. The metal plate where the neck bolts to the body adds a bit too much thickness and takes some getting used to when playing the upper frets. Perhaps I'm just used to a scooped neck pocket. Since the top isn't carved and is the traditional flat tele chunk of wood it can dig into your arm. Despite these things I think the guitar is still great and these are really just minor annoyances.Matt

Overall: I bonded with this guitar immediately and has been my favorite ever since. It was setup perfectly. It had perfect intonation, action and pickup height. First guitar I've had that way right out of the box. He'll it was even perfectly in tune! Every detail of this instrument is made with unbelievable quality. So classy, versatile, and easy to play. The 18:1 grovers are amazing. And tuning stability is impeccable. The neck shape is comfortable and only a slight departure from a medium fender c shape. I like it a tad more in that dept. The fretboard, inlays, and jumbo frets were as pristine as I've seen. Even above a grand. Damn Schecter! Not one dead spot or buzz anywhere on this axe. Excellent hardware throughout. The gloss finish and aged yellow binding was without a single imperfection. Sound? Amazing in every pickup position. The Super Rock II pickups are versatile and rich. Huge harmonic content. I bought a Fender American Deluxe HSS Stratocaster almost ten years ago. It's absolutely gorgeous with its glossy, 3-color sunburst finish, aged white pickguard/controls and shiny chrome hardware and it plays like butter. The only problem? The Noiseless N3 single coils don't have that traditional Strat tone. I know I could swap pickups, but I wanted to keep it stock in order to maintain its value. I recently started looking for something that captured the sound I had in my head, but either didn't like the neck shape or fretboard radius of anything current or felt they sounded too much like what I already had. Enter the Nick Johnston Traditional SSS. This sweet baby IS the Strat sound, at 1/2 to 1/3 of the price of any of the made in USA Fender models. The tones range from low and throaty to high and scratchy, and the neck is one of the fastest I've ever played. Seriously, it's like my fingers just know where to go when I'm fumbling through scales or noodling unplugged in front of the TV. The roasted maple fretboard gives the guitar an aged appearance, like it has hundreds of stories from the road to tell, without the rest of the guitar looking beat up and rusty like a relic model. Too bad Atomic Orange is the only finish to offer that fretboard, but the combination of the two still looks sweet. Factor in the locking tuners, low action, a floating tremelo bridge that works well with palm muting, the Schecter reputation for quality at a reasonable price and you have yourself a winner. Tone is subjective, but with or without a Tubescreamer in front of my Twin Reverb, Deluxe Reverb and DSL40C, I am in sonic heaven. I rarely write reviews, but noticed this model didn't have any yet and am too excited about it not to recommend it to others. This is my second Schecter Nick Johnston traditional and the 2021 version has a roasted maple fretboard instead of rosewood that feels and looks great. I got it in the Atomic Orange finish which is the best looking orange guitar I've ever seen, and the light caramel color of the roasted maple fretboard looks incredible against it. If you are familiar with Nick Johnston's music then you know the pickups aren't voiced for metal, but through a high gain tube amp you can get an array of impressive tones. Though the pickups may be the same as in the 2020 version I had, they seem to be voiced differently. The bridge humbucker has a great roar and a really detailed lead tone, while the neck single coil has that warm tone that's perfect for everything from jazz style chords to shreddy leads. I usually blend the middle single coil with the neck single coil on clean tones for a warm sound with a bit of shimmer. Most impressive thing for me is the tremolo. I'm not sure if the guys at AMS did this, or if its something new from Schecter, but the tremolo came set up to float and it stays in tune really well. I couldn't believe how much smoother the trem on this new 2021 version was than the 2020 NJT that I had. It's really amazing for a strat style guitar, better than my comparably priced Player Strat and Schecter Van Nuys. Overall, I'm very happy with this NJ Traditional!Mark O.

Pros – To my own personal taste, these things play phenomenal. The neck makes the guitar for me. It's thin and wider than what I've always been used to on my MIM Strat. The frets are quite a bit wider and more forgiving. The color of the body and the color of the neck and fretboard make this thing beautiful in person. Pictures don't do it justice. It's a sea foam green, with a hint of blue in person. It doesn't have your typical Strat sound. My friend described it to me as somewhere between a typical single coil and a p90 when he heard it. People have called the pickups somewhat flat and dull, but I've gotten quite a bit of sparkle out of the pickups with just an eq pedal. I'm not much of a tremolo guy, but it seems to be well made, however I'll be switching to a 5 spring setup in the next few days so it'll basically be null and void anyway. Cons – I would absolutely give this guitar 5 stars if it wasn't for a few issues I ran into. The set screws in the back of the headstock that go through the tuning peg plates were drilled and screwed in at an angle and weren't tightened very well. Tightened them all LIGHTLY and broke the G string screw off into the headstock. Had to drill it out, dowel the new hole and redrill and put in a new screw. Could've filed a claim, but I liked the guitar too much to send it back and I knew I could fix it myself. Other little things are the setup wasn't the best and pretty much all of the nut slots needed work to either stop various strings from binding or notes going sharp. If you've read this far I'll tell you something else.. Before I bought this I went into my local GC and played several monetarily comparable Fender Strats. Player Series and the Deluxes. This thing kills them. I picked up EIGHT different ones and every single one had QC issues and felt horrible. I do not want to knock Fender in any way because my first electric guitar was my MIM Strat from around 2004 and I love it. However, at the price point, I'd recommend the Schecter just from my own personal experience.Coley

I have been playing guitar almost five years and have five guitars and my Schecter Corsair is by far the best. The pickups aren't real duncans but the sound graet both clean and with destortion. The coil splitters work good and i can get any kind of sound i want out of it i want. The neck is one of the most comfortable i have ever played on. I play a Gibson SG Standard a lot and i would rather play this korean Schecter any day. The pics really don't do this guitar justice. Mine has the high gloss walnut finish on it and it's absolutely beautiful. I only wish i had paid the extra 50 bucks to get the bigsby on it but thats the only thing i would say to get different. So get this guitar RIGHT NOW you won't regret it.schecterman-zFEC_

I'm actually not into the bridge Tremolo style Corsair guitars but I liked the C profile neck and other specifications of this semi hollow. I own another Schecter guitar so I decided to give this semi hollow a try and as it turned out I'm very happy with this purchase. Received it in perfect condition and I was amazed at the precise intonation. It's a Beautiful guitar and I love the tone. I'm basically Tele and Strat guy because I love their C profile necks and low action. Schecter profile C necks come closer to that Strat comfort zone than any other brand I've tried. They feel nearly as good in my hands but the quality exceeds most higher priced guitars. Schecter has now replaced my Gibson and Epiphone. I still prefer the feel of my Strat but the price point of Schecter can't be beat. If I were to improve anything it would have been to add locking tuners and stainless-steel fret like the Schecter Apocalypse, for those features I would have gladly paid more. If you're a Fender guy and looking to add a Semi Hollow or Les Paul style guitar to your collection give Schecter a try before making that final discission.Ddancers

Lotsa good things said here already, the Corsair excells over most other models in its class at this price point; there are just so many things done right, the MIK quality is a cut above most all other entries, fit and finish, pro hardware, great electronics using the Duncan Designed coil split Pups, a very sweet voice indeed! Overall weight and balance make the grade, neck action with the Ebony fingerboard that gives great access above the 12th fret is above par; Grover tuners are precise, Tones Pro is an upgrade bridge system, attention to detail, great fret work, set in properly, body binding with bound headstock truly impresses! The Schecter Corsair may just be the most overlooked ES335 style guitar out there, it easily competes with so called "Master Built" and "Pro Shop" offerings at double the price! Overall the Corsair is an exciting and modern take on the classic semi hollowbody designs! In my opinion that is!Richard E.

So a while back my boyfriend was showing me this guitar and telling me all about it. The design, the quality, the sound, everything. A guitar he truly wants and needs. So I surprised him with it for Christmas! Tears were shed. He is absolutely in love with it. It's BEAUTIFUL, a real work of art. It sounds incredible. Preface: I read the reviews here about string buzz issues out of the box. NOT my experience at all. My guitar was set up perfectly! And I DO mean without ANY imperfection. Pros: This guitar’s styling fits my personality, non-standard. The pickups are higher-output as most humbys are, but not so much so that lends to only one style. Three-way switch plus coil tap equals SIX voices. If you have a good amp, you’ll be able to dial-in whatever MODERN sound you’re looking for. These pickups are not voiced for vintage tones. I’m very pleased with this guitar. Cons: I like the pick guard; however, it is made from a custom-colored material and feels like a drum head over the body cavity it covers. You’d need to get used to that. For this price point, I’d expect Schecter’s Universal case included. Also, the universal case I purchased separately fits like a universal case—loose. Bottom Line: others may have had some buzz out of the box, but I did NOT. This is a modern-appointed guitar, don’t expect vintage Tele sounds. Happy hunting.Trinnk

What a VERY cool guitar. Mine came perfectly dialed-in right out of box. Intonation and action dead on!! The clear p/up covers (w/copper wiring), exposed washed out finish, and the "tarnished/aged copper" pickguard REALLY lend to the Apocolypse aesthetic! Super Unique. You would be surprised at the overall solidity and meticulous craftsmanship on display with this PT. There's a wide versatility that you can achieve with its USA made pickups, and the split coil feature…bluesy, mellow, subdued, OR…kick-butt screams and crunchiness! Overall: This thing is built solid. My issues are with the pre-delivery stuff. I was figuring that there would be a quick inspection of it to make sure that everything was on the up and up. It got to me with one broken string, three of the other five were at full tension while the other two were relieved of tension. I've never set up a Floyd Rose, so I'm about to embark on an adventure with that. Aside from that, it sounds decent. I've never been a fan of EMG, and these definitely sound like their bottom end pickups. Very muddy, and hard to really get a tone that works for me. I'll be changing those out. It's a really great platform to put in the things that I want though, so no big loss there. The paint job is also really nice.Jacob

Overall: Let me start buy saying that I have played other Schecter's in this same price range that were very nice to play. Unfortunately this is not the case with this instrument. First I'd like to talk about the tremolo are, the pop in bar stinks, the retaining nut on the underside of the base plate would constantly loosen itself making the arm move anytime you would adjust your position which in turn made an horrific noise. the only way to fix this issue is to remove your strings and springs, then remove the tremolo from the cavity, now you have access to the retention nut, it's a giant process. Which brings us to the tremolo springs, terrible get rid of them. $629.99 and this guitar doesn't come with noiseless springs? could schecter not spend a few extra dollars to make this guitar even somewhat playable? Sound: Get a helix you'll never have to worry about any of this again. Features: No push/pull coil splitting, dinged "features" just a tad. Ease of Use: Dirts up nicely, hot pickups and the sustainiac is just so much fun. Very easy to get very nice trem effects with the feedback setting. Quality: Schecter is always 100% solid. Never seen junk from them. Some of the best QC in the business. Value: For a good fast guitar with stable tuning and a floating bridge, I'd recommend this one all day. The Wow Factor: Well I have many guitars, I saw it and had to have it, so yeah it's a very sharp guitar. Overall: Let me start by saying that I have 45 guitars now, and that's after getting rid of my junk systematically, so they're all pretty decent to fantastic at this point. I can't in good faith give a sub 1k guitar 5 stars, I just know too much what's out there at this point but just know that this is the one to get at this price point for sure. I was mostly an Ibanez guy for decades but started collecting more recently now that the kids have grown and moved out over the last couple years. My most expensive now is the JS2450 and it's incredible. My favorite of all is the AZ, that's the baseline. The first schecter I bought is the SLS Elite FR Evil twin, it is amazing and one of my main go-to's. Schecter builds a great guitar and gives you a great value, and most definitely improved my opinion of Indonesian guitars as well. I'd compare current quality out of there to Japan 15 years ago at this point. I then got the GT Banshee, it's sweet looking but didn't like it as much as I'd hoped, I still have it. Then got the Silver Mountain C1, great guitar also but still preferred the SLS Elite, however I've come to like it much more recently. The C7 Apocalypse "red reign" is the most comfortable neck of my 7's (Prestiges)So a friend asked me recently what I'd get for a shredder type guitar with a trem without spending a K or more. I advised that under a K I'd definitely go with schecter, a better value in that price range and the Edge II's and III's on Ibanez tend to be very frustrating, the "Hot Rod" version of the FR special definitely makes a difference whatever it is they invested in for upgrades. I bought a FR special directly from Floyd Rose site and it was ok but not great. The Schecters hold tune very well. Well so I got him a link and in viewing it it really started growing on me, and they had the Riviera blue as a "blem". I ALWAYS get the blem, believe me it's generally just a return from a blind order and they didn't bond with it or changed their mind. I've only had to send one Blem back for exchange out of about 10 times and it was an Evertune bridge someone had tried to mess with and stripped a screw making it difficult to get in order. I've never seen a mark on any of these guitars. Scratch and Dent is a different category, so again blem's are great for a deal. Anyway I ordered this guitar and I absolutely love it. Very sleek neck, ebony fretboard is killer, whole thing feels great in your hands, I ran 16th notes at 200bpm to a backing track right off the rip no problem, action is great. I have a Charvel San Dimas in the price range, THIS is better, I like it more. That's the only other guitar with a floating bridge I have under 1k at this point to compare to but I'll play this guitar probably more than quite a few of the more expensive ones.
