Schecter Guitar Research Omen Extreme 6 Fr Electric Guitar For Sale (Jan 2023 Update)

First a much deserved word about Musicians Friend. Having made numerous purchases in the past year (5 guitars, two amplifiers & two sets of powered monitor speakers) hats off to Musicians Friend. They are professional, courteous and a pleasure to purchase from. They truly have treated me like a friend over the last decade and a half. My guitar arrived in pristine shape, no issues, of course. For me this is a beast of a guitar and cannot be beat, not even close, at this price range, nothing I've played compares. Love the sculptured maple top and head to toe creamy binding, simply beautiful. The setup was very good, slight string height adjustment, neck did not need adjustment and pickup height was good. Someone is paying attention with quality control. The neck is fast, silky smooth and easy to navigate, I can accomplish sweep picking with this guitar. Coil split is always nice with humbuckers adding to the available tone palate. Everything works and works well. Check it out if in the market for a very nice modestly priced guitar. Totally stoked on this purchase. I was looking for something solid with an inexpensive price point and came across this Schecter. I've never owned a Schecter before so I was unfamiliar with them but they put some serious quality into this instrument. Feels good in my hands and plays really fast and it looks fantastic. I do recommend upgrading the pickupups but if you're just looking to play around the house with this, it's set up and ready to go. Highly recommendableSmooks

I understand why people call this a beginers guitar. Some the components are cheap and the guitar felt unfinishhed. I own 8 guitars. All of them are higher end Made in America guitars. This guitar caught my eye solely because of looks. I decided to purchase it as a project guitar. After receiving the guitar it needed to be properly set up. I straightened the neck, leveled and radiused the fret board, re-crownded the frets, filed the fret ends and rolled the edge on the neck binding. I proceded to replace the bridge with a Graph-Tech Resomax NV2, and the tuners with Schaller M6 ones. I replaced the tone capacitor with an Orange Drop NOS .027 UF. The pickups are versatile and offer a wide variety of sound. I now have a guitar that has a fast articulate neck and fret board, great tone and sustain all for $160.00 in parts and my labor. This is no longer a " beginers guitar" . The guitar has great bones and was easy to convert to a guitar that you would pay over $1000.00 dollars for. Good job Schecter!Hodigity

This is a VERY solid 7 string. I've tried quite a few brands searching for the perfect intermediate 7 string, both active and passive electronics. So far, the best ones, by far, have been LTD and Schecter, with this one taking the cake (even over an $850 Ltd ec-407). First off, the guitar is beautiful, and the neck feels great. I usually don't like the super-strat body style, but this one has the top curves in all the right places. There is a bit of fret buzz when strummed hard on the low B, but that's to be expected and it's much more manageable than some of the others I tried. If it's a problem, I'd recommend a thicker gauge string set, I like ghs boomers in a heavy gauge (they eliminated fret buzz on a previously owned, less expensive LTD 7 string I owned) The pickups sound incredible, honestly. There are models of this same guitar with Duncan Designed pickups, and that model is slightly more expensive, but I assure you that you're not missing out if you get this one with Schecter Diamond active pickups instead. In fact… I think these sounded better in some applications! Fantastic gain, clarity, and definition, and perfect for metal, they will make your riffs sound brutal… they sound good clean too though! Overall the best bang for your buck 7 string I've tried yet. I've personally owned 5 different ones, but this and the now-discontinued Jackson slathx-m 3-7, which come stock with Seymour Duncan Sentient and Nazgul passive pickups, take the cake for the best I've played.Brian F

Not wanting to spend a ton on an eight string if I didn't like it, I found this model at a decent price. Needless to say, I was blown away by this guitar. Everything about it is above what I would expect for a guitar of this price point. The neck is very fast with a smooth finish, the action was set up just right, the intonation is spot on, and the correct gauge strings for the tuning we are in were already installed. I was also worried about the neck being much thicker than I would have liked, but Schecter did a phenomenal job with his neck. Another concern that I had was the electronics. In my experience, a guitar that has stock branded pickups has never really been that great. These pickups more than do the job. Honestly, I think this guitar is pretty hard to beat for the price. I play a lot of heavier music, and this guitar puts out some crushing sounds. (You can also get some really nice clean tones out of it as well.) This is my first 7 string guitar, and I was a bit worried it wouldn't be super comfortable to jam on. Schecter just dominates in this class. I always like to wait a year to give reviews but it was hard to wait with this guitar.
From the fast, satin smooth neck, to the low action and the tuning stability, it's just hard to believe the quality in this price range. It feels every bit as nice as my pricier guitars and that's NOT hyperbole, it's the truth.

If half stars were available, I might go 4.5 just because the active pickups, while honestly good, aren't "great".. But at this price point? I'm probably expecting too much because the feel and playability of the guitar keeps making me compare to higher classed categories.
That's a good problem.
I'd like to see schecter push their alternative passive pickup guitars more, just so the market would have increased availability.

I love this guitar! It has a great sound for rock, metal and other genre music, but mainly for metal, it's so perfect. I actually traded a Ibanez Xiphos hp330, because I was tired of the floyd rose floating saddle bridge. Nothing against it, but it wasn't for me. The Ibanez had a great sound, played beautifully and definitely good metal guitar, but I wanted something with an easier bridge. I'm glad that I bought the Schecter when Guitar Center had their annual guitar a-thon sale, and I traded my Ibanez for the Schecter and didn't cost me much. For the money it's well worth it, it's a solid guitar, electronics are great, the neck is smooth and fast, the finish is awesome and a reall eye catcher. I'm very happy with the guitar overall. I also have a Schecter bass. The stiletto and I love the Schecter brand. I'll recomend it to anyone ,from the beginner to the experience player, you can't go wrong with this guitar.John

Let me start out by saying I'm a little bias towards Schecter. That being said , this is my 3rd and probably my favorite one. I currently own the demon-6 and have owned the Synyster Gates custom S , not my style so traded it in. The Omen Extremely is absolutely amazing sounding and my favorite out of the 3 I've owned , the pickups are way better than my Demon with active pickups , these can easily handle high gains without crackling or sounding muffled. I didn't really necessarily want the coil splitting option , but glad i have it. This guitar handles clean sounds very well and the splitting option gives the guitar a lot of versatility , the neck is perfect. It reminds me of my Ibanez's , very comfortable and easy to play , it's heavier than most of my other guitars but this just adds to the sustain you get out of this guitar. I got the magenta color , which looks pink to me since I'm color blind. That's all they had in stock but I don't care , it's fine and I play at home plus it throws in some color to my collection of mostly black anyway. I don't know how Schecter continues to put these out for the price , it's solidly built and feels much more expensive. The tuners also are very tight and hardly ever go out of tune , I will continue to purchase Schecter's in the future. I can buy 4 quality built guitars from this company for the price of one Gibson. I highly recommend the Omen Extreme to anyone on the fence , once again Schecter delivers!🤘Mike G.

I bought my Schecter Demon 6FR 2 months ago. Great craftsmanship on the structure, finish and a wonderful design. The hot pickups are super clean but can be dialed down for the warm meaty feeling for playing things like the blues. A very versatile axe. I am enjoying playing it as when I got it right out of the box it played decently. I only needed to make a slight tweak to the trus and bridge for the action I like and I have it now where it is smooth and fast. I like the feel and although a bit body heavy the balance is still decent. This guitar is built tough and I can see someone using this to tour with as I believe it will hold up well to the abuse of travel and still function as expected. Thank you AMS for offering this product to me with the Rock Star Status financing which made my decision to purchase the Schecter Demon 6FR very easy. I would recommend AMS and Schecter to anyone who asks.Laurence W.

This is the best playing guitar of my collections. I have all major brands and this beats them all. It is so easy to play even bar chords. The tones are very unique and sound great. The only disappointment is the weight, it weighs 8.1 pounds and the body is supposed to be basswood a very light wood. Still, I play it more than any of my other guitars. I've got 3 Schecters if that tells you anything. I have an Apocalypse and a Silver mountain. I bought this for my lady. It's got a slightly thinner neck than the regular "Thin C", it's thinner but not narrower. It came "ready to play"…but to make it even better required a very slight neck adjustment, a couple of the saddles raised…and most importantly for me…the pickups WAY too close and it made it sound "busy" to me…too much going on…chaos. I lowered them to 1/16 treble and 1/8 bass…and they've really improved…I can hear individual notes in the chords where before it was a noisy mess. To the other reviewer wanting to change pickups…try lowering or raising them and see if it improves. This isn't a $1000+ guitar and it shows in the little details…the carve of the body…rounding the neck/frets…the finish…it's not up to the Apocalypse or Silver mountain…but it's a FINE guitar.Joe Rocker

Overall: I wanted to wait a while before I reviewed this instrument just to make sure the new guitar bias wore off first. The first thing I wanna say about this guitar is the tuning stability is crazy good, and I'm sure that's because of the black tusq nut. This guitar stays in tune better than some of the more expensive guitars I own and that really surprised me a lot. The tuners feel sturdy and the bridge is very easy to set up. The neck is super thin, and access to the higher frets is superb. I also really like how the inlays are done on this guitar. As I'm getting older it's harder for me to see where I'm at and having the inlays switch to the bottom of the fretboard after the 12th is super nice. I will say though that while I love the neck, it was also one of the only parts of the guitar that required some work on my part. Out of the box, I did have to level the frets a tiny bit to get the strings as low as I like them to be. It's a minor complaint since I like my strings VERY low, but it is worth mentioning especially since this guitar is around the price-point where these kinds of issues shouldn't be as expected. I'm not gonna cover too much on the sound of this guitar because you can make any guitar sound good with enough processing, but I'd say that the pickups in this guitar sound perfectly fine on their own and I have no plans of changing them out. The tone of the bridge pickup is beefier than you'd expect which you may or may not like. The neck pickup is honestly my favorite, it's very warm sounding and has none of that harsh sharpness that I personally can't stand. Overall the pickups are just comfortable to listen to, which makes them perfect for mixing. To top it all off, it's a very pretty-looking guitar. I got the Sky Burst one and I find myself still looking at it and admiring it. With ALL of that said though, I would say that this guitar best suits someone who is intermediate, but at the same time I think that more advanced players will love the playability if they're willing to put in some minor effort to take the guitar a bit further.Patty

Sound: The sound is absolutely great, I like metal and this is great for that.and it's great in any pickup settings, it goes from mild to wild with the flip of the toggle, has two styles of sustain, feedback, and a slower buildup for a different sustain, battery life is good when you turn the toggles off and disconnect the instrument cable, or it powers the EMG, Features: This for its cost has a set neck, materials are some of the best mahogany body, and if I remember the neck. Tuners work well, pickups are incredible.rosewood with bat inlays. It just looks good, and sounds better everything on this is great quality,I have always liked guitars that don't inlay the first fret, just me, but I know where the first fret is, it really throws me off. Ease of Use: This is a very easy to play guitar, even not using the big neck magnet it sounds great, the only learning curve was leaving it plugged in, when I would leave it in the stand, the floating tremolo had givin me a few problems but watching a few YouTube videos I got it down pretty fast, I listened to 1 gentlemen and he says cut all of the strings bad information there, but I got past that, bought a bunch of high E strings I would go for the tuners up top and broke a few, but, it's just remembering the fine tuners. Quality: I would have to say it's built better than guitars I own that don't have the set neck, mahogany is durable and imagine it being a collectors, item, that's 30 years, I don't see any problems with it lasting me forever, I won't sell trade. I will just play it and enjoy doing it… Value: Oh yes, I had seen one being played online, was made by another Co. And it was over 3,000.00, Schecter was giving them away. I jumped right on that once I saw it, I would never had the chance, except for you fine people at zZounds. A value yep!! Manufacturer Support: Haven't had to contact them for there problems The Wow Factor: Just looking at it makes my day, anyone that sees it admires it's mean look, the bats are very neat, looks better than grape vines, or other goofy inlays. I wouldn't pass it up because I did get to hear one that cost way more, and it didn't have the look. I love people's reaction when I activate the Sustainiac they can't put their finger on the big change in the sound.. Lots of fun Overall: I own 3 Schecter's and I have had some minor problems, that said I am partial to them, the Damien is always my first choice, it's got sound as long as that toggle is on no more getting up close to a 300 watt amp for my sustain, it works on a 20-watt practice amp. It's well made, solid, a little heavy, but so what it's a set neck,got an EMG pickup that's excellent in it's position,holds tuning well for me.The inlays are cool, it's art to me I hang it so I can admire the flat black, with the silver awesome. My only problem no paperwork there website was lacking anything, but once you figure out the tremolo good to go, I personally took of the top string locks still stays in tune, and I change tuning so much,it's better for me. Seems to be a lot of different turnings. I am about 1 1/2 hours good traffic, and have been thinking of checking out what they do there. Have to say a huge thanks to zZounds they are really good with helping a guy like me has bad credit, never a problem, I will never shop anywhere else..not that I could..Thanks to everyone that works there!!!Dean

This guitar is very awesome looking with the bat inlays , on top of it feeling great in your hands. For the price you truly Couldn't ask for a better guitar. This thing is loaded with custom pickups and Grover hardware and the emg pick ups sound awesome. It is my favorite guitar to play out of my collection. I am no professional but this thing makes me sound like one and is very easy to play. The Floyd rose is a super plus because it holds tune well and you can whammy out. All in all I would recommend this guitar to everybody but a part of me wishes I had the only one. If you don't have one your not living right, so do your self a favor. You will thank me later.Eric

Overall: Some folks in a Schecter group I'm in recommended zZounds and I'm happy they did. I ordered this bad boy at noon on a Friday and it was here at noon the following day – no joke. That's with free shipping. Let me get the negative out of the way first: the setup. Even as a prior Floyd Rose owner, I've lost a day and a half trying to fix the poor setup this guitar came with but to no avail. I will have to take it to a tech to get it set up properly. Out of the box, the bridge float angle was off and the D-string saddle was as far forward as it could go which meant it actually made contact with the body of the guitar on big divebombs. After endless tinkering and a re-stringing, this guitar absolutely will not stay in tune when getting on the tremolo more than about 50% in either direction and that's a damn shame. Going through a bigger company like Sweetwater that inspects all guitars, this likely wouldn't have been an issue. So, buyer beware here. Floyd Rose's are a daunting challenge even for experienced buyers so I'd say it's unacceptable to send any FR guitar off without a proper setup. Onto the good. This is a kick ass guitar. The neck is fast as hell and overall the construction is very sturdy. It plays great and sounds just as good. Besides the setup, the guitar came in absolutely perfect condition – not a single blemish to be found anywhere. This is my 4th Schecter and I've never owned a bad one. Very much looking forward to tearing it up with this bad boy once it gets a proper setup.Samuel

The guutar is is sweet looking the finish is smooth. Can't tell you how it sounds because I could never get it to stay in tune. I know it's because of the Floyd Rose bridge. No matter how many times I try and no matter how many videos I watch. I can never get this version of the FR to work right. I have orhe guitars with a FR but they are the partially fixed version of the bridge. This one I call the floating FR. Anyway I returned the guitar maybe I just suck. A guitar tech I met once said the best way to work with a Floyd Rose is not to buy a Floyd Rose. Anyway great looking a feeling guitar just couldn't play it.Marc

I seen this thing and being also a car guy, I had to have it. I honestly didn't expect much, but not sure why I didn't. I own 4 other Schecter guitars. Never had a bad one and they have always been good quality but I have also never had one that grabbed me as a go to guitar. You know one that says hey you're coming gigging with me tonight. This one does. I find myself playing this one a lot. However, it didn't start that way. When I got it the bridge wasn't level, it needed a set up and I prefer 9's for string anyway comes with 10s. This fought me every step of the way doing a set up. Then when I got done and plugged it in, I was underwhelmed. It just didn't sound good. Then again, I haven't played EMG's in a guitar in a very long time, maybe 10 years. I set it aside, went back to my regulars. This thing kept calling me. So finally I sat down and spent an hour with it, tweaking my amps and finally found the EQ settings that brought it to life. Basically it was like a premium race car, but was running on Regular fuel. I need to spend some time, give it some high octane. I haven't put it down now for at least 3 weeks and it is my go to guitar. It gets to see it first live gig this weekend. So far in practices it's doing everything I could want it to do It cuts through the mix. It is identifiable as me playing. Just sounds great. Every note is clear.Jeff

I have been playing guitar almost five years and have five guitars and my Schecter Corsair is by far the best. The pickups aren't real duncans but the sound graet both clean and with destortion. The coil splitters work good and i can get any kind of sound i want out of it i want. The neck is one of the most comfortable i have ever played on. I play a Gibson SG Standard a lot and i would rather play this korean Schecter any day. The pics really don't do this guitar justice. Mine has the high gloss walnut finish on it and it's absolutely beautiful. I only wish i had paid the extra 50 bucks to get the bigsby on it but thats the only thing i would say to get different. So get this guitar RIGHT NOW you won't regret it.schecterman-zFEC_

I'm actually not into the bridge Tremolo style Corsair guitars but I liked the C profile neck and other specifications of this semi hollow. I own another Schecter guitar so I decided to give this semi hollow a try and as it turned out I'm very happy with this purchase. Received it in perfect condition and I was amazed at the precise intonation. It's a Beautiful guitar and I love the tone. I'm basically Tele and Strat guy because I love their C profile necks and low action. Schecter profile C necks come closer to that Strat comfort zone than any other brand I've tried. They feel nearly as good in my hands but the quality exceeds most higher priced guitars. Schecter has now replaced my Gibson and Epiphone. I still prefer the feel of my Strat but the price point of Schecter can't be beat. If I were to improve anything it would have been to add locking tuners and stainless-steel fret like the Schecter Apocalypse, for those features I would have gladly paid more. If you're a Fender guy and looking to add a Semi Hollow or Les Paul style guitar to your collection give Schecter a try before making that final discission.Ddancers

Lotsa good things said here already, the Corsair excells over most other models in its class at this price point; there are just so many things done right, the MIK quality is a cut above most all other entries, fit and finish, pro hardware, great electronics using the Duncan Designed coil split Pups, a very sweet voice indeed! Overall weight and balance make the grade, neck action with the Ebony fingerboard that gives great access above the 12th fret is above par; Grover tuners are precise, Tones Pro is an upgrade bridge system, attention to detail, great fret work, set in properly, body binding with bound headstock truly impresses! The Schecter Corsair may just be the most overlooked ES335 style guitar out there, it easily competes with so called "Master Built" and "Pro Shop" offerings at double the price! Overall the Corsair is an exciting and modern take on the classic semi hollowbody designs! In my opinion that is!Richard E.

I didn't play it much when I first got it bc of the weird transition from 4 to 5 strings but over time I've played it more and more. I love it more every time I play on it! I've used this thing for rock, alt metal , death metal, posthardcore bands, jazz bands, jamming with friends stangers in a bluesy way, I've recorded With it and made YouTube covers with it. It's suited more for rock metal punk abd subgenres but it's versatile. This thing will take thick strings if you want (135 B string), the dadario strings that came on it were great too. This thing has great low end roar but can also sing melodically I play a lot of chords/fragments and tremello with a weird playing style and this thing sounds great! It's my favorite bass, it's the best I've played although I haven't tried many abd my others are lower quality. I play guitar too but am mainly a bassist so I like how the strings sit a little closer together than on others or 4 strings. I've had guitarists ask me what I did to make this bass sound so great and they were blown away when I said nothing just took it out the box! I've only had to intoneate it once so far. It's set up was pretty great out of the box the strings were a bit higher off the neck than I was Used to but once I got used to the action I was glad they put it where it was. Only complaint is that the low b sometimes would make the low b harware rattle and I could feel it skake/vibrate the whole bass (it didn't come through amp or anything. This stopped over time and I think higher string gauges might have helped to smooth this out. Batteries for the active pickups seem to last for quiet awhile. I use this through a boss me50b with compression on and through a nice combo amp that can compete with stacks this bass roars through it. Then along came children. So now I just sit on the edge of the bed and play along with John Paul Jones. When I found this Schecter Omen Extreme -4, I was deciding between an SG standard, and the Fender Aerodyne. Then I picked up this one, simply because it is bezutiful to look at. What a suprise. The pan knob will switch you from a "P" bass to a "J" bass. Even though the Omen has a 34" scale it plays beautifully. I am not disappointed with this purchase. The shape hints at a Jazz bass which I like, hence the Aerodyne search. Never mind that, this plays sweertly. At this time GC us offering an %18 off sale. You just couldn't go wrong. Only wanting a case, which will be delivered soon.Pops

Started taking lessons online through BassBuzz (Josh is excellent!), after a few weeks of practicing for a minimum of 2 hours a day, I was able to start learning songs for our Praise Team at Church (we currently had no bassist). I'd take my Epiphone of course. I learned to play sitting down, now it's time to stand, my shoulder was killing me! 2nd week of playing at Church and my tone column failed! I took it to GC to get it fixed and spotted the Schecter hanging on the wall. I picked it up and couldn't believe the difference in the weight (again, I'm a novice), my salesperson explained the difference between active and passive and I knew then that I wanted an active guitar. The Epiphone took two uses of muscles for my left arm, one to hold the neck up and of course the other to go up and down the fretboard. This guitar is so balanced it will stay where you place it from the get go. GC gave me a fair trade on the Epiphone so I did the deal the next day. If you're a beginner or even an experienced player, this guitar can make a tremendous difference with ease and sound. Being a novice,were it not for this guitar I wouldn't have known what to look for without an experts help!Fred W

This is my third guitar, my first being an Epiphone Les Paul Special from the year 2000 and my second an acoustic Ibanez AW 300 also from the same era. Both of those guitars have served me just fine for many years but I felt the desire to upgrade and get something new. I'm just a hobbyist with decent experience but I was looking to treat myself with something a step up from what I currently own in the electric department. It was either the Schecter cr-6 or an Ibanez SA anywhere within a $1000 budget. The Schecter had the exact color finish I was looking for and it was on sale, so my choice was made. I purchased online through GC and it was shipped and arrived within just a few days. Out of the box it played and sounded great with the exception of slight fret buzz on the low e string, nothing a small setup couldn't fix. Let me tell you the guitar feels incredible, the neck is very thin, the body contours are very comfortable and the quality control top notch. I feel like the guitar is worth more than its priced for. I think I made the perfect choice for the next step up. The pickups are probably the best part; they sound very articulate for a mid-ranged guitar and the coil split adds versatility. Its just an overall beauty if you're even slightly interested I highly recommend giving it a play, so you can see for yourself. Schecter knocked it out of the park with this model.Mike

Light and thin. The USA Apocalypse II pickups are the most versatile pickups I have used. I prefer them over the Schecter USA Sunset Strip/Pasadena set in my SVSS Exotic. Nice satin thin C neck. Fret ends are smooth and well rounded. Only issue was a dead spot in the volume pot. Loved the top so much I just put a new push pull pot in myself instead of returning it.Eddie

I have owned two and played at least 4 different ones in store. I might just be unlucky with this guitar but no matter which one I played it always had dead frets or fret buzz. I had 4 different techs looks at the first one in hopes they could solve the fret buzz issue. The last tech said the neck was warped. For reference I live in between two guitar centers that both have two techs. The kicker is that it's a perfect guitar for the money outside of this issue. It has lots of perfect tones with what it is equipped with. The neck is perfect and makes you instantly feel like a faster guitar player. If you get the right one, it's gorgeous too. Just a bummer that it had so many issues. I recently went back in right before the whole covid-19 shut down, I grabbed one off the rake because they were on sale. Once again the stupid thing buzzed like bee. I had the guy bring one from the back out and the guitar center employee specifically said "dude your luck with these guitars is terrible. I have never seen one person pick so many duds."Tristan

I wanted a good spec guitar for metal, like a Mayones but cheaper! I had seen reviews of the mach 6 and I had bern impressed previously with Schecter so I went for it. It only needed a slight adjustment of the truss rod to play really good. It cuts through and harmonics squeal on high gain. Korean made, great for the price. Honestly, I think this guitar is pretty hard to beat for the price. I play a lot of heavier music, and this guitar puts out some crushing sounds. (You can also get some really nice clean tones out of it as well.) This is my first 7 string guitar, and I was a bit worried it wouldn't be super comfortable to jam on. But, it's very smooth and easy to play for both rhythm and lead stuff. Would definitely recommend it if looking for a great mid range guitar!Shane F

I have owned the Schecter C6 Plus for a few months. It did come in set up pretty good. No fret sprout, no dead spots and the intonation was good. The finish is good, but the looks are not that great. From a distance the fake printed top will fool people. However once you get up on it you can tell the top is a printed graphic. The pickups really don't impress me at all. For a hundred more my other Schecter Damien absolutely blows this thing away. I really don't recommend it, because you can get something way nicer in this price range or something equivalent for less. I'll post some vids so you can hear it.60 second review

I really like this guitar and it has held up great over the past few months of use. To get the problems out of the way first, it came with bad fret buzz on the low E string that had to be fixed before I could play it (with minor adjustments to the bridge). The pickup switch is a little bit too loose and it jiggles around easily. The pickups produce a slightly muddy sound (similar to other cheaper models in the Schecter Diamond series), but that isn't too much of a problem if you want to play hard rock and metal only. With that said, these are all minor complaints that can be easily fixed. As for the good, the finish looks really nice, it sounds great with the right setup, feels great to play and is pretty versatile if you mess around with it enough. I probably wouldn't use it for anything more than practicing and small performances, but it is a very nice guitar for the money overall.David
