As soon as I receive another set of Fender nylon strings I can give a better review since the ones I received were defective, The string dimensions were screwed up. The fifth string was a nylon string as well as the third and first. The sixth, fourth and second strings were a wound strings.

Reviews:
I use Ernie Ball almost exclusively. But, this is the first time I used them on a classical Guitar. It took 5 days for them to stretch out and even begin to stay in close to in tune. Granted, I put them on a Córdoba C5….not the highest end guitar. But, they still should have taken less time to settle in. Also, the black nylon strings seem to have a much smaller diameter than the original Aquila strings. I love Ernie Ball strings, but going to have to to pass on this particular set.Dean
One of my students plays my classical guitar during practice and loves the sound of classical strings. He asked me to change over his old 3/4 guitar that didn't fret well with metal acoustic strings. I had ordered a pair of these in clear color in the past and have enjoyed the sound an endurance of these strings. My students guitar had a black pick guard so I picked these black strings to match the pick guard. Boy was I right. The cheap guitar played really bright and the color was captivating. I hated to give the guitar back to my student it played so well… I highly recommend for beginners and anyone wanting to switch over to nylon strings with a traditional western guitar… Order the clear for natural guitars and these blacks for sunburst or red, yellow or cherry burst or black colored guitars…Tiny Tim

Reviews:
I use the coated EXP45 normal tension strings on my Guild GAD-C2NA classical guitar. This is the guitar I travel with and use for most fingerstyle applications. I reserve my Ramirez E4 for local classical performances. The bottom 3 strings have great definition and stay within a few cents of concert pitch for several months. The top 3 strings are the same nylons from the EJ45 set. They may drop 20 cents overnight, but tune right up and stay in tune while playing. This set has a respectable classical tone but is a little brighter than the EJ45 Pro Arte set. They are fantastic if you are playing and singing popular and rock songs along with a few classical favorites. You can beat on them with rougher technique and they hold up and sing out. The EXP45 set only puts about 81 lbs. on the neck as compared to 86 lbs. for the EJ45 set. The lighter feel makes them very versatile and reduces your fatigue. The D'Addario claim is true: The composite core bottoms really do last 3-4 times longer. With a lot of practicing and performing, I can burn through an EJ45 set in 1-2 weeks. I've changed EXP45 sets at 2 months for a gig and have not really needed to. The windings will show some wear, but the bottoms are still staying in tune. The coating pays off if you don't always remember to wipe down the strings and fingerboard after playing. There are some who call me...Jim
I recently purchased a used classical guitar and gave it a set up, replaced the strings. That's when I purchased these EJ45's….Took almost a month for the strings to stop stretching. Would not stay in tune !! Maybe drop these in some boiling water like E.V. used to do to his strings to stretch them out..?? THE BAD….I thought it was the tuners (machine heads) on the guitar and almost purchased a new set. I've used the red package normal tension with no issues, I will not buy the EJ45 again. While my guitar was just sitting on the stand the G string starting to unravel and eventural just broke…THESE STRINGS ARE A WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME !GhostGrappler
I am accustomed to subtle differences between acoustic guitar strings by various manufacturers, but those differences can seem less apparent with classical guitar strings. However, D'Addario's Pro Arte classical strings are clear standouts. My guitar never sounded better, to the point of sounding like a brighter and more resonant instrument. I'm hooked.Ronnie

Reviews:
I'm not a serious Classical player but do read music and try classical tunes on my 45 + year old solid cedar top classical guitar. I think this brand of strings is fine. I'm going to go back to medium or higher tension though. Light tension takes too much tuning effort, and they're a bit flabby to my fingers. I don't think for nylon strings that the arguments regarding age and arthritis means much. I'm in my 60s, but can still bend those steel strings just fine thank you.JC
I have been using D'Addario EJ-45 (Normal Tension) strings for a couple of years and decided I'd give these 43's a try. Contrary to what other reviewers have indicated, I immediately noted a decrease in volume when using these light tension strings. I suppose if one is playing with electronic amplification, these strings might be fine. I play spruce solid-top guitars (J. Marcario 145 and Yamaha GC-7M) so crispness, as well as volume, are crucial to me. Unfortunately, these 43's have neither the volume nor the clarity of the 45's. They are a touch easier to play and they may suit the needs of others; however, they aren't right for me. I'll be switching back to 45's tomorrow. Best regards … and happy playing !yelleko
Much better type of string than the ball end type. Also, these have a smoothe feel and give a nice full sound to my Yamaha NCX 900R classical guitar. The strings are forgiving on the fingers as I get back into playing after years of abcense from it. Also not noisy from sliding sounds. Tying the ends on and changing nylon is very different for me, accustomed to an Ovation, takes a little longer but is worth the difference for an improved sound. For me nylon strings are better because of losing 1/2" off left ring finger, classical easier to do. Good choice, buy them.cehl1911

First, am not a musician, just an old Scouter who plays guitar at troops campfires, and encourages Scouts to learn some chords with the expectation that within lies the next Andres Segovia. Therefore, my judgement of the quality of the product is that of a neophyte. For me, they were better than I expected. However, I must add that I received them in less than five days, now thats service worth two extra stars. Thus, from that perspective, this string set has far exceeded my expectations. I find all Augustine strings to be great value for high quality. These are my 'go to' strings that I use every day. I have not found better working strings. Much better than some of the rather twangy 'corum' strings that seem to be so popular (and expensive) these days. Recommended.Richard
I am not a classical guitarist, I am an acoustic/electric guitarist who has modified what I do to fit a classical format. When it comes to strings, I have always opted for the biggies, usually D'Addario extra hard tension (and the titanium treble set is my go-to). I believed in the SRV adage: Bigger strings give bigger tone. I picked up a set of these Augustines the last time they were on sale at MF. I confess I got 'em because they had Segovia on the package and were on sale. My heart sank when the strings arrived, they are the black label set and are marked "extra light tension." I teach in a public school and thought I'd put these strings on and beat them to death in a matter of days. That was over a month ago, and my mid 70s Yamaha (solid cedar/rosewood) has never sounded better. I don't know what it is about these strings (components, care of manufacture), but they seem to really lay flat on the board, and I mean that in a good way. I have already admitted that my classical technique really blows, but when I try to bear down on the lower strings, the heavier wound strings almost seem to "roll" under my stupid sausage fingers. Not so these guys. Very pleasant sound and feel, I may have switched brands to Augustine Blacks. And did I mention Segovia's picture is on the label?…E. T.

Quality strings as usual. Enjoying the higher tension so far.yawnotec
The trebles are very smooth, almost polished, and feel easy on the fingers. The lightest touch brings out very clear notes. The bass strings are the usual Augustine Reds. Easy to play, easy on the fingers, very responsive sound. The sets feel nicely balanced when playing with no obvious discontinuity in finger pressure. The combination fills the room nicely. Easy to tie, no surprises, adequate but not excessive length. Good sustain when strung on my beater (play on the park bench) guitar, more than expected. On my better guitar, no so much difference. Not as much projection as with the harder gauges, as is usually the case. (I only play for myself, so projection is not much of an issue.) In my humble opinion, good strings and a good value.Michael

I have been playing on these strings for about 3 weeks now. I love them! They may become my new favorites. They are carbon strings, which I had never played on before, but really enjoy. The have a great warm tone, and the basses and trebles compliment each other nicely. One thing to mention when you put these on, make sure you use a lighter to "ball up" the end of the string because these carbon strings are thinner than a standard nylon and they will slip through the tie block. Tone, sustain, and volume are all great. In fact I thought maybe they were a hard tension string because of the volume, but they don't feel that tight when tuning and Augustine does not say what tension they are. Anyway they sound great and respond wel, I don't think you would be dissappointed with these strings.Justin
10. Aquila 131c Cristallo Normal Tension Classical Guitar Strings
Product Details:
Cristallo set. guitar set available in one degree of tension. the first three treble strings are made of supercrystal nylon, extruded directly in our company. the name given to this set derives from the particular transparency typical of this material. the nylon of the cristallo set, thanks to its extremely smooth surface, is characterized by a full-bodied and velvety sound. bass strings are our traditional silver-plated copper, wound on a multifilament core in supernylgut.
Specifications:
Bass Set Material | Silver Plated |
Treble Set Material | Clear Nylon |
Reviews:
Aquila make good strings for many acoustic stringed instruments, and these are particularly suited for quiet baroque style guitars, being tuned to A435 rather than A 440, and the manufacturers recommend that the silver-plated copper-wound multifilament silk basses be tuned down a semitone when not playing. If anyone knows any better strings for such purposes, I'd be intrigued to try them.guitargrame
.Tried these as an alternative to D'Addario. Although they are more expensive I found these to give an excellent projection of the bass and were bright in the treble. Also there was little squeaking which you tend get with new strings .They also gave very good sostenuto . I can recommend these stringsspanishpeacock0_0

Designed for use on classical guitars, the plain strings are made of a solid nylon filament. it is similar to, but not the same as, the nylon used for fishing line. first, second and third strings are clear, ball end. this set of earthwood 80/20 bronze folk nylon acoustic guitar strings from ernie ball is a distinct take on the classical guitar string. this pack features ball ends for easily securing strings to the bridge. the treble strings are fashioned of a solid nylon clear filament, while the bass strings are made of a multifilament nylon floss core wrapped with 80/20 bronze alloy wire. producing a warm tone that is rich in treble with a percussive attack, this set is ideal for fingerstyle and folk players. their soft feel is easier on the fingers than steel strings, and the ball ends make string changes a cinch.
Reviews:
I highly recommend these strings for darker sounding acoustics. I installed them on my new Epiphone DR-100, and they sound amazing. Much better than the factory strings, in my opinion. I normally like phosphor bronze acoustic strings, but I've found that the DR-100's sound better with the brighter 80/20 bronze strings. Full disclosure, I'm a big fan of Ernie Ball strings in general. I use exclusively the RPS Hybrid 9-46 strings on my electrics. Also highly recommended. Great price on the 3 packs of these. I also really like the 11-52 gauge, vs 12-54. Both sound great, but the slightly lighter gauge works best for me, since I play electric much more often than acoustic. Enjoy!!waterboy411
I've been playing guitar since 1969, and have used countless brands and varieties of acoustic guitar strings. My first go around with Earthwood strings was less than impressive, as I had the ball end fall off of the high E as I was removing it from the package. This put me off Earthwoods for a while, but when I came across an inexpensive project guitar a while back the only acoustic strings available to me at the time were Earthwoods. I bought that set out of necessity and strung the guitar up. I love the gauge of this set since it's only slightly heavier than the sets I've been using on my electrics for years and very comfortable to play, while not sacrificing much in the bottom end of the tone. I was thoroughly impressed with these strings to the point that they're now my go to acoustic strings. Naturally every guitar is going to sound slightly different and every player will have different taste in the way a set feels and sounds to them, but these are my favorite right now. Definitely worth a try if you've never tried them and are looking to replace a set.papastratomaster
I tried these on a recommendation from a friend. I used to use Martin Strings with Medium/12 Gauge. I switched to these because it was a little hard on my hands to get through a full gig. I liked the tone on the Martins a little better but these come in at a close second in my opinion but gives me the options of doing easier bends and double stops. I tried the "one" set before ordering the "three". Recommend doing the same. Great value for the $.hammer_101

All good Thank you!!!!gin-archi
These are high quality strings with no mechanical problems. They stay in tune, feel good under the hand, and intonate properly. They also seem quite durable – I have been playing my set regularly for a month and they show virtually no wear. On the other hand, the treble strings have an extremely glassy, metallic sound that can become shrill and artificial sounding. They are not suited to my cedar-top guitar at all, and I cannot imagine that many classical guitarists would find their tone attractive. These might be more appropriate for another musical style. The bass strings sound fine.CycleDudeNh
