Reviews:
I bought this guitar to take with me on a medical missions trip to El Salvador. Right out of the box, it had a surprisingly wonderful bright tone and acoustically projected with a lot of volume. The action was a bit high, so I used the included hex key to lower the strings a bit to make playing it a bit easier. It frets true. The built in tuner is very accurate and easy to use. The strings it came with sound and play great so I don't plan to replace them any time soon. I love the finish, see no flaws, and the neck is smooth and just feels as good as my more expensive guitars. No problems with the frets. I only wish it came with a pick guard, but shouldn't be a problem since I fingerpick most of the time. I haven't hooked it up to my amp yet, but probably won't since I'm planning on gifting it to the mission house where we stay for other groups to use. I hope they enjoy it as much as I have! Look forward to "visiting" it again next year! God bless the Salvadoreans!Wretched
I was a little skeptical when I ordered this guitar because of the price. When I opened it I was amazed at the quality look and feel of it! It's a beautiful looking guitar and it sounds really good. The built-in tuner works well and the pickups inside the guitar sound great to me. I have to complaints about the natural or amplified sound quality. So far the one I received has been holding it's tune fairly well for a new guitar. I expected to have to re-tune much more frequently. It honestly feels like I'm playing a much more expensive guitar. Keep in mind that it doesn't come with a second strap button or a pickguard. If you require those they can easily be added. Personally I didn't mind as I don't really "jam out" hard enough to risk scratching the guitar and I play sitting down all the time so I don't need a strap. If you are looking for something cheap to practice with this guitar is perfect. I would even feel comfortable performing with this guitar (all though those years are behind me).The Casual Jammer
2nd Guitar, first one had damage on it. Paint unfinished at sound Hole The Guitar is not set up to play out of The box, also not Humidified, Had to do lots Of nut, saddle and Truss rod work before My fingers could play it. Interior looks Good. Digital Tuner And strap buttons are nice. For the price It's a lot of work to get it to be set up. I Finally got it working but it's just another Vastly produced Guitar with no quality Control. You will need to go inside the Guitar to pop up the pegs. They will Not just come out easy. The tone was Ok and the electronics work ok after Tons of work. I also had to Oil the neck And bridge along with Humidiying it. It sounds ok now. The neck is a little Wide at the top and string spacing is Slightly off but it's playable now. Could Use some oversight before there factory Shipped out. A plek set up would of Saved me hours of work. If you don't Mind setting it up yourself then it's ok Just beware that it will take some time To get it to perform correctly.. I Bought It for a Gift. Next time I will call before Purchasing and ask questionsFred O.

Reviews:
I would suggest both the JS34Q (this purchase) and the similarly priced and same model series JS32QM for, in my judgement, an all around reliable and capable instrument at a moderate to economical price. The pick up configuration is the only difference between these two models. The price is about the same as well. I've had and used my Jackson JS32QM for about a year now. It stays in tune (I use the tremolo a lot) and has never failed me. But I was seeking a backup. That is why I purchased this Jackson JS34Q (here). So I expect to have the same experience with the new JS34Q as it physically is the same build as my JS32QM. So far I've had no issues, plus I think the JS34Q was already set up. I am absolutely not saying that generally any guitar brand comes set up new. It is no big deal anyway to set up a guitar. For me Floyd Rose guitars are the easiest to set up due to access and hex tools. Hard tails often have easy to damage little slot things, hard to get to and length limited range. Beginners take note. I have a hard tail Jackson Kelli too. It plays a lot like a mix of my SG and my '58 LPJr., which means great bends and chording. So therefore I can say I've had all types of guitars over the last 45 years and with all the past experience I'm a dedicated Jackson user now. So I can unreservedly suggest a Jackson, at least those I mentioned. I was expecting this new Jackson JS34Q to pretty much be a close twin to my current JS32QM, but was pleasantly surprised to find the difference in sound and play feel with just a different pickup configuration and maple neck. Both guitars have humbuckers in bridge position, but they sound totally different. I'm thinking maybe it is the maple neck? Anyway, it is a good thing, now I get that Hendrix-Trower-SRV-on sound. The Floyd Rose licensed tremolo systems are a treasure, to me anyway. Beginners take note again.Cryton Havoc
Got to GC to return something and already have enough guitars and am actually selling some to make room. Well, I don't have a purple or a Jackson, and I love the HSS configuration and had a Fishman set I wanted to try, so I grebes this guitar off the wall to test it out. I'm not an import guitar snob, so I don't judge Chinese guitars harshly unless there are QC issues. I had played the red and the blue colors of this model around Thanksgiving and literally cut my hand to bleeding because I didn't check the fret ends before playing the guitars. Well needless to say, this purple one's fret job had no razor ends and was built incredibly well with a tight finish. Stock pickups are very solid, though an aftermarket upgrade is always the way to go for more articulation. I'm partial to actives now, but I think I might swap it's Fishman's I installed with my Banshee's DMZ Protrack, Alumitone, Andy Timmons AT-1 Bridge. I love the Schecter also for its Thick D neck and larger radius, but this Jackson just has this awesome bright, yet not harsh tone that comes off the strings and the neck is extremely playable. I can't say enough good things about this guitar and I'm hoping to score a mid-tier Jackson now as they belong right up there with Schecter and ESP as far as brands I can expect a consistently playable guitar, no matter the price range. Make sure to check the frets first, but play one of these next time in the store. I guarantee that if the frets are clean, this sexy beast is coming home with you.BlackwatchMei
I'm very impressed with this guitar for the price. Out of the box, the action was quite low and the intonation was almost perfect. There's no buzzing anywhere on the fretboard. The fit and finish on my guitar was flawless, even in usual problem areas like around the tremolo and pickups. Playability is excellent with one exception: when bending strings, it feels like the frets are sandpaper. Oddly, they feel perfectly smooth to the touch. This has already improved somewhat after an hour of playing, and I suspect they'll smooth out with use. This is very subjective, but through an amp it doesn't sound as good as my other electrics. I can't quite put my finger on it, it just falls flat. Not too surprising given that these are inexpensive pickups. Or maybe it's simply different than what I'm used to. Your mileage may vary. As with any three-pickup guitar, the middle single coil falls right in the way of my pick when palm muting. Again, your mileage may vary. All things considered, this is an exceptional value and would be great for any beginning or intermediate player. I suspect examples can vary widely depending on who assembled them and did the final setup, and I'm sure there are some lemons out there as evidenced by some other reviews, but mine is excellent.Ross

I was amazed at the quality for the price on this guitar . I own over 20 guitars and actually purchased this one for my sons birthday. All my guitars will be my boys one day but wanted to ad one to his current collection and this was a great choice. I have been a AMS customer for over a decade and love their prices, selection and payment plans. I always recommend AMS to my musician friends, they are the best!!!!Mike
I expected better from Jackson. Pickups are iffy, tuners are junk will not stay in tune. Pickup selector switch is scratchy and works sometimes. Action is ok after a good setup and string change. Had it for about 5 months now and thinking about trading it in for something a little better. It does look great hanging on the wall though.Keith C.

Reviews:
I owed a Wolfgang for years and when I bought it, a friend of mine said "Don't waste your money on that…get an N4 and get it over with". Being the EVH fan I was, I bought it. A few years ago I came across an N4 here and bought it. I should've listened to my bud years ago. What an instrument!! I can't begin to tell you how amazing it is. I've been playing for 23 years. I've owned USA Fender, higher end Yamaha's, the Wolfgang and have owned and played many other amazing brand name instruments and this is by far the best guitar I have ever laid hands on. Beats my old boss's '62 Tele and his friends '54 Les Paul. I don't use a Floyd much anymore, but man…it's such an amazing guitar. Versatile tones, ease of playability, comfortable and a simple layout. You can't ask for anything more. I play Rock, classic rock, alternative, metal, a little country and blues from time to time…I do it all on this guitar. Stop reading this, sell the fire wood you have right now (maybe keep one if you blow a string mid set…), and get an N4!Darryl
I have have been playing guitar since 1980, and I started teaching that same year. I have my degree in Music Education, teach Guitar, Bass, Percussion and Recording Arts at a college and gig regularly. I am always looking for values and not a label person, if a guitar plays good, then play it, and let me tell you,THIS GUITAR PLAYS FRICKIN AWESOME. If Washburn will continue to make them at this quality then this instrument is a superb value!! Like I noted the cheapest parts on the guitar is the Pot and switch, (big woop!) I think me and Nuno are going to become great friends. I will say that the Bill Lawerence pick-up is HOT and will take some time to get used to… Dimarzio Tone Zone have been my choice for a long time. I just recieved my order and to my suprise the guitar was more than I had hoped for. The first thing I noticed was the Floyd Rose Special instead of the cheaper copy, ( i was ready to upgrade if i didnt like it) the rhythm pick-up is Duncan USM instead of the Washburn let's put a pick-up in the hole. The finish is as smooth as silk and the neck has a great feel to it. It even came with Grover tuners. It is a 2010 model, comes with all the the wrenches(very important) and a nice gig bag. As a long time guitar player, teacher and repairman the first thing I did was take it apart..lol! After reading many reviews i was worried about a lot of thing but was glad it came with the upgrades i was prepared to do. I am going to replace the volume pot and pick-up switch as these are the cheapest parts on the guitar…but you wouldn't have to! As a teacher I am always searching for instrument that my students can afford and give them a bang for there buck. I have always preferred lower priced instruments, ( my main axe is a MF scratch and dent Ibanez 321 i got for $250 about 10 years ago) and I think this guitar is going to serve me well and i can recommend it. Like i have noted, I was expecting way less as hardware goes because i was doing extencive googling to find out its features and was just expecting all the cheap parts and was going to upgrade. When I called the MF staff was helpful and processed my order quickly..Thanks Folks
AMS got it to me quickly and well packaged. Action was high (pretty normal) and after I made a few quick adjustments this thing sings! Love the Bill Lawrence bridge pick up, especially when using the coil tap. Quick neck, great tone. This is my 2nd Washburn and definitely not my last.Craig

Reviews:
A friend and ex-coworker told me about MK a couple of years ago. I saw him again recently and he asked if I had checked it out. I hadn't but I did this time. Glad I did! I ordered the Patriot Decree in Caramel Burst with a case. Both the guitar and case are beautiful! Excellent instrument and snug case. Plays and sounds like a dream. The only issue I found was when you turn the tone control all the way down on the bridge pickup it kills the volume? An MK rep told me this was normal. I have a LP, a 335 and an SG, all with humbuckers, and none of them suffer from this malady, but I would rarely, if ever, use that setting so I can live with it. Other than that I'm very pleased with this guitar and the usual great experience with AMS.G2
Overall: Well I didn't get to play it because zZounds sent me a customer return with a snapped neck that apparently didn't get checked prior to shipping. But even with just looking at & feeling the guitar it didn't feel worth the money. I'd say the cheapest Epiphone Les Paul Special is a way nicer feeling & looking instrument. I read great reviews that these play and sound good but to me it look and felt like cheap laminate wood grain with an uglier finished than the pictures show. Definitely won't order another one after returning this damaged one.Cory
So I had a hiccup in the beginning with this guitar, but besides the blemishes even though it was a brand new guitar american took lead and made it right with me. As far as the guitar goes well she’s bad out the box. Yes I have different tuners and different strings now but that’s a players choice. What comes in the box is amazing. Rich beautiful highs on bridge and smooth blues tone on the neck and neck with bridge together there’s no stopping that sound. This guitar is simply amazing in my books. I have purchased many of guitars and this one is by far the best out of the box. I would recommend this to a beginner or intermediate player as they don’t have to waste money as it is well equipped out of the box.Gabriel
6. Washburn Idol T16 Electric Guitar Vintage Sunburst
Product Details:
Washburn created its distinctive idol body shape in 1999. the wit is a fresh take on the single cutaway and draws inspiration from the original washburn wi36, originally outfitted with a single bridge pickup and lipstick pickup at the neck. the wit is a bolt-on 25-1/2 scale length guitar with two usa made seymour duncan vintage stack tele pickups on an ash body with a beautiful burled-maple veneer and a vintage sunburst gloss finish. pickup wiring includes a push-pull coil-split allowing the player to switch between noiseless stack tele tones and straight single coil output. the wit features a wilkinson ashtray bridge with brass saddles and the buzz feiten tuning system for accurate intonation throughout the ebony fretboard, delivering an instrument that allows the player to achieve all those rockabilly, country, and chicken pickin, tones favored by nashville pros. with its vintage sunburst and gold hardware the washburn wit16vs is a distinctive, beautiful instrument that you can proudly play in any setting. grover 18:1 ratio machines and d'addario strings ensure tuning accuracy. gig bag included. an instant classic with a vintage sunburst finish on a swamp ash body and burl maple top, the idol t16 is an instant classic, while at the same time demonstrating that you don't just run with the pack. wilkinson ashtray bridge with brass saddles brass saddles produced a warmer, thicker, more musical tone compared with the more common steel. each saddle is intonated as well. paired with the buzz feiten tuning system, notes and chords sound sweeter and more in-tune than other guitars. usa made seymour duncan vintage stack pickups duncan's vintage stack (stk-t3b) pickups are noiseless pickups that produce classic output and sound. tone is warm, punchy and twangy as you'd expect. the idol t15 also features a coil-split push-pull knob allowing you to switch between stacked and single-coil voicings.

Reviews:
I purchased this Idol T16 on impulse since the deal was too good to pass up and I never owned a guitar with single coil pickups. This was a B guitar and the only blemish I could find was the Grover tuners on 1 side were not perfectly parallel with the other. Something no one will ever notice and doesn't affect the guitar sound in any way. This is the 3rd B guitar I have purchased and it is always something so minor that it doesn't matter. The guitar was heavier than I expected being swamp ash, weighing around 8.4 lbs. The sound of the Seymour Duncan Vintage stack pups are incredible. I never expected to achieve such a variety of tone options from single pickups. The high clean gain using both pups was beefy and sounded better than any of my humbucker guitars, but then you can also go for the vintage telecaster sound. Great addition to my collection.ncbandit6

I have been wanting an N4 for the past 20 years. I'm so glad that I finally decided to go for it. I can honestly say that this is one of the nicest guitars I have ever owned. True, there is no fancy top wood or finish. It is the tele of the super strat world. It's a cutting board with strings and a Floyd Rose trem. The fit and finish were all superb. It just feels so good in your hands. Like that old pair of boots that just hug your feet in all the the right ways, and makes you smile. This guitar wants to be played fast. The neck is super comfortable and did I mention fast?!!? Unplugged, the guitar sounds warm and balanced. Plugged in, it snarls and bites and cuts like a knife. It is both thick and biting all at the same time. The Bill Lawrence USA L500 bridge pickup is it's own unique thing. Its a humbucker that has some of the tonal properties of a single-coil pickup. That upper high end stringy quality. You'll either like it, or you won't. (A simple thing to change out if you don't) The Seymour Duncan 59n in the neck sounds very sweet and warm, without being muddy in this guitar. Ultimately, this is an extremely nice guitar. It is utilitarian in its design. A one stop rock machine. However, it is so much more. I am super impressed with the attention to detail. Everything is exactly where is should be. Exactly how is should be. The most honest assessment I can give is that it feels like a professional guitar.Joel

Reviews:
I owned one of these guitars for 2 years and was very please. I bought it new online and wrote an extensive review at that time. This is a brief followup. It held a tuning for an exceptional length of time. It had nice sound amplified but don't plan to play it acoustically 'cause it doesn't produce much sound….more like the Strat I once owned. My only negative comment is that it was not balanced….I had to use a strap even when sitting down. My encounter with Washburn products was very positive.rxroger
When I first received it, it was sure Pretty in the box. Once I got it out of the wrapper it was even prettier. I gave it a strum and of course it was a bit loose so I tuned 'er up. Still, yuck!! But after adjusting the intonation she plays and sounds real nice. The strings are heavier than I like but that is no problem. Overall, it's a good deal.madavis76281

Reviews:
PRO: This is a fine guitar. Good tuners, great pickups, a fast and friendly neck (not "chunky" at all, and more comfortable than typical Fender neck). The neck PUP sounds slightly more full than typical single-coil, but still "Stratty." The middle PUP will give you "Sultans of Swing" or "Sweet Home Alabama." The humbucker is POTENT. You'll want to lower it as per distinctive power jump when you switch to it, but it has some very distinctive voicing. I am delighted when I switch it on, and the humbucker was not a main reason for buying this axe. CON: This axe does NOT look like Washburn pictures – at all. Their pictures show a very distinctive orangey-brown color with grain accents that look very much like Flamed Maple. The reality is a maple-syrup-brown fade. If you are expecting that flamed-maple look, it's not even close. This is misleading (if not deceptive) on the part of Washburn (view pictures on Amazon or elsewhere too). Erik Bothwell from Sweetwater was very understanding when I contacted them about this, but it seems there is no remedy. I fault Washburn, and I'd say the pictures on Sweetwater are closest to actual. If UR okay with a plain brown-fade finish, everything else about the guitar is on-par with ST-style guitars in the $500 range.

Probably not the best time to review. Item arrived with several physical issues. Good news is, I contacted the market place seller and provided pictures. They sent a return label and will be inspecting and sending a replacement item. I can provide a more honest review once I receive the new item. If item is revieved in good physical condition , I am sure it will get a high rating. The item initially looked and was fit amazing. It was just unfortunate that a couple vital things may have slipped thru an inspection along the way somewhere. I give Thanks and Praise to the vendors action and response to the issues and I am anxious to see the new product. I am sure this product will get a great review from me soon and even in lieu of issues do still recommend this product.Mark

No problem bending strings, great quality control, thank me later, this model has TONE, my friend, you like rock n roll? Or blues? It’s Soulful and expressive and the tone cuts, but has that vintage stonesey grind..love this thing. gig bag is a really strong, Grey tweed, lined w that rainproof plastic stuff, foam padded backpack straps, really thick padding, modern styling..looks worth around $39 for the bag itself. Reviews:
I have several Artist guitars and have been impressed by all of them. I wanted an SG style electric to add to the collection and got this one a bit cheaper using an eBay coupon. It's nicely made and finished. The setup was good and I only had to lower the bridge a little. Intonation was spot on . The colour blew me away as I expected it to be bright red going by the online pics. It was a beautiful deep burgundy colour which looks classy. The humbucker pickups sound great and the tuners and controls are smooth. A great beginner or regular players guitar.robmac7777
Great guitar for the price. Accessories good. Only disappointment is colour is burgundy not red!jlea8990
