I first heard this GREAT guitar in a video played by Emmylou Harris' guitar player Will Kimbrough ; I asked him what kind of guitar it was , he told me and said he loved his . SO I bought one and I have to say for the price , the sound , the ease to play it is now one of my favorite guitars !!! My other 12 strings (Guild / Alvarez) sound GREAT but they are kinda rough on my hands . I would most definitely recommend this beauty to any player looking for a 12 string guitar . Sound: What more do you want at this price point with free shipping. Well built, sounds good.Fishman MX electronics, already installed heel joint strap button, Tusq saddle and nut and bridge pins. First off ! I highly recommend this 12 string to everyone! i have now owned this guitar for almost a year now. Before I bought this Martin dx2e I shopped around and went to a bunch of different guitar stores to compare different brands and see the difference. I was after a really good full sound with no string noise , I definitely did not want a lament top and real wood sound that would appreciate more and more in time. I compared a taylor, and it was great but the price was a little crazy, for what was afforded I didn’t care what brand of guitar i was going to choose, all that mattered to me was the tone and feel , I tried a guild 12 string and again it was really nice as well but I found it had a lot of mid high tones . Again I was looking for a certain sound that would cater to my own sound, style and feel . After shopping around I chooses this Martin DX2e for its great natural sound and the feel , the price was definitely unbeatable and I still can’t believe how good this guitar sounds! Amazing guitar! The next big factor was now where to buy it , Sam ash? Guitar center ? I found American musical “AMS” was amazing to purchase this Martin from, it showed up in just 2/3 days protected and the customer service was unbelievable! I love this guitar and love AMS and again I highly recommend this guitar you will not be disappointed! Thank you AMS for making my decision easy and effortless !
I recently purchased my Martin DX2E 12 string from AMS and I love it. I purchased my Martin GCE16 about a year ago from AMS and I have never heard of them before this. I tried to order the same guitar from Guitar Center and it come in damaged, so I returned it. I then tried to order the same guitar from Musicians friend. The online site said it was in stock. I even paid for 2 day delivery, but it never showed up. After 2 weeks I called and they told me the guitar was out of stock. They also told me they should of called or emailed but they don't know why they didn't.(TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM MUSICIANS FRIEND).This is when I found AMS. I called AMS and they were VERY helpful and easy to deal with. I ordered my VERY FIRST MARTIN GUITAR from AMS and have been very pleased. I waited far too long to own a Taylor. But I am so glad I waited to buy the 362ceV 12 string. The sound I get is great. Whether I need that deep boom of a classic rock cover or the brightness needed to do justice to Jim Croce. The 362ceV delivers for me. I have had the guitar for about a month now and have played it at over a dozen gigs and I have had more compliments on the sound of my guitar then I have had in years. I love the light action, although with my fingers I could a tiny bit more string seperation. I think the action helps keep the sound clean and crisp regardless of how far up the fret board I am using a capo. Almost all of my guitars require me to rmove the strings to change the battery. With the amont of shows I do, I change the battery a lot! So the battery location in the body of the guitar was a pleasent surprise. I had to play with the tone and volume over several shows to find the sweet spot, but it was well worth the time. The guitar came with a top quality case, another positive as I do travel. I have to say that the 362ceV hits all the right hot bottons on my guitar needs list. I may actually buy another Taylor in the near future and put my other guitars onthe wall!
I know what you're thinking: every guitar I buy is the last one, when I'm telling my wife about it. At my age, it may actually be true this time, so I studied many possibilities before I invested. I could not be happier! The 816ce Builder's Edition is a beautiful guitar, to be sure, but its beauty is more than skin deep. The tone is superb, and the Grand Concert size coupled with the players port gives the guitar the extra punch I wanted. Should you buy this guitar? I can't say. But it is a fantastic guitar that is definitely worthy of consideration! For the record: I also have to include a very positive comment on Paul Allen and the rest of the Sweetwater team. Their care and attention to detail are far beyond the norm; they have a customer for life in me!
This is an exceptionally versatile guitar, I needed a workhorse for small venue solo gigs playing a wide variety of genres and this truly fits the bill. Extremely balanced range with just a hint of that Taylor sparkle that (IMO) is overwhelming on most Taylor models. What I didn't see coming is how this thing absolutely opens up in D Tunings. Best DADGAD sound I have ever heard in person, it's quite incredible. Skip the E version and just add an Anthem SL to this like I did, Taylor pickups are always so mediocre and the Anthem SL's cream color even matches the accents on this guitar.Ryan H

Worth it for amateurs and pros alike. For the money this is a very high quality instrument – well-built and designed. It has reasonable action and above average sound. Regardless of the price it is still a very good guitar. All of these guitars would benefit from a professional set-up to dress the frets and adjust the truss rod, but they arrive in playable conditon and put out a lot of volume for essentially a parlor sized instrument. This is my second Recording King instrument and they are a lot of bang for the buck.
I have had many guitars, alvarez yairi, blueberry, yamaha, takamine, gibson, and many more. This guitar has everything I wanted for a very low price. I really like the sound of the guitar and the body shape. It stays in tune and has the sound of a much more expensive guitar. The cutaway gives more access to the fret board, which is an improvement from the ROS-06 model, which I have played before. Unless you routinely play above the 12th fret, or really need the thumping bass of a dreadnought, I can't imagine any player at any level being disappointed with this guitar. 12-Fret guitars have a magic to their tone because of their bridge placement that a 14-fret simply can't duplicate. In fact, the original Martin dreadnoughts were all 12-Fret for over a decade because they sounded better and played easier. The ROS-06 is beautifully executed with a solid Sitka spruce top, mahogany plywood sides and back, and a chunky mahogany neck. You're not going to get solid wood sides and back in this price rsnge, so I can't ding it for that. The faux tortoise shell binding and rosette and an unexpected luxury look, and the lacquer work is flawless. But back to the tone. Everyone who picks it up immediately falls in love, it is just thst sweet. You'd have to spend 5-6X the money on a Taylor or Breedlove to get a noticeable improvement, likely from the solid sides & back, and then it's only incremental. While you can lean on it medium-hard before it starts to compress, it really is happier as a fingerstyle guitar, again, no surprise, so bluegrass pickers needing the volume might want to stick with your dreads. Bought this for my wife as a second lap steel. I have bought the Recording King products before. This unit was not set up. The strings were floppy loose, that is okay as I restrung it. While putting new strings on I noticed the tuning machine were loose. All of the screws were stripped out and would not tighten. Started to send it back and decided to repair if and was successful. If we had not wanted to use it immediately, it would have gone back. Overall we like it and will continue to shop Musicians Friend.GWF

This was my first metal body resonator, have a Gretsch wood body res that I really like that has a great tone and action, and wanted a metal bodied one for the more aggressive twang, which the Swamp Dog definitely has! I'm modifying mine-stripped off the green patina in favor of the natural bell brass, upgrading the tuners, cone and bridge, and in the process found that the "revabond" fingerboard kinda sucked out of the box. It's painted/treated with a black dye of some sort to look like ebony-which very quickly and easily ends up on your fingers-not cool! Maybe they skipped a step at the factory to seal it better, but I'm not the only one to have that issue. I've sanded whatever it was off the board and have no problem with the way it looks/feels now, but I don't think I'd buy it again-or any other guitar with a revabond anything on it. Before you say "you get what you pay for", I didn't expect it to be on the same level as a National-and for me it's definitely a keeper, at the same time this is not a bottom of the barrel resonator, and we shouldn't have to look like we've just been fingerprinted after playing it.Will
I spent a lot of time attempting to research this model and find out more about before buying it. Being such a new model, their wasn't much information. I had a Regal years ago and gave up on resonator guitar because I could not get the sound I wanted. I have stayed away from resonators since then because I assumed it was my inability to play one properly. After taking a chance on this Recording King I am happy to say I was wrong. I love the sounds this beauty puts out, and it plays great. Despite being made in China, Recording King produces quality instruments that are inspected and setup in the USA. Even if you decide you don't like the sound of this resonator guitar (sound great to me though!) you can hotrod it out with an aftermarket cone and have a stunning looking and sounding guitar.Otter

Overall, I think I can say that I am 100% satisfied. Only had it since Tues afternoon but I bet I have put about 16 hours on it so far. Time will tell how it holds up thru the rigors of being a working guitar. My only regret nay be not having a pickup of some sort installed. This guitar was available thru several on-line outfits, but when I saw on one of them that CME would be the supplier, I decided to call them direct and talk to a real person in a real music store. I'm glad I did. Got several questions answered right away, and a set of strings. The action was set up pretty low when it came, but it sounded really good even with the orig strings. It played pretty stiff tho. I put new strings on and went back to playing on it, and now we are getting along great. I have A/B'd it with a 1995 D41, and a DC28E 2016 that I have and it is by no means and in any way inferior to them in tone, punch, volume , you name it. 30 yr old Adi and solid mahog at this price is unbelievable. I've been a musician for over 20 years, which means I can tell the difference between a cheap and professional quality instrument, and I have to tell you this guitar sounds amazing and not just for the price. The tone woods used are on par with most mass produced Martins, Taylors, and Gibsons. The sound is better than anything else in this price range I've even tried. There are some flaws in the build, but nothing that effects the tone or the durability of the instrument. My only complaint is the thick poly finish which looks cheap. Guitar needed setup but that was expected from an overseas axe. If the finish quality was better and the name on the headstock said Martin & Co. it would be well sought after and would sell for over 2k. If you are looking for a D18 sound but at a quarter of the price and don't mind a few imperfections, then you won't be disappointed in this instrument.Michael
I am quite happy with this guitar. The all-solid, 30 year aged Adirondack top with mahogany back & sides gives it a nice tone. The out of the box finish, playability, and setup is good. All in all, the Recording King RD-318 is a guitar worthy of consideration for anyone searching for an all-solid dreadnought. Props to CME for the quick and flawless shipping.

My guild 1212 arrived from Sweetwater well packaged and on time. Kudos to Sweetwater, they really pay attention to their customers. Their level of customer care is so rare that it almost takes you by surprise. The guitar is very good value for the money, very playable. A 12-string is not my everyday guitar, but this is a good addition to recordings and I can bring it out occasionally on a live gig. The sound is a little more compressed than high end 12-string guitars but very usable and enjoyable to play.
I bought this guitar as a close out from a local dealer. I wanted a 12 string for a reasonable price, as I am a novice player, for the times that I wanted that 12 string jangle! After the first few strums, I knew this guitar would do quite nicely. It has an incredible feeling neck that is very easy to fret and the sound is clear and full. I cannot believe that this guitar is this good for the price. All solid wood body, bridge, and fret board. Very desirable features for a reasonable price. And did I mention that it is a great player? Hi I ordered the guitar and was told about the long delay and found that really honest and helpful, so many people nowadays don't mention the delay in advance then spend their time making excuses. When I reicieved the guitar I was very impressed, the action is perfect and I had spent lots of time worrying that I may find the action on a 12 string too much. It plays just as well as my six string acoustic and that's the best acoustic I've ever played, which is why I bought it. This was my 1st purchase from Richard and I am pretty sure it won’t be my last, whilst I am very much a beginner at guitar, returning after 20 years I have developed a habit for buying guitars that are somewhat inspirational to me, (well apart from my tele modern player, not my wisest purchase). I have always loved the sound of a 12 string acoustic, but was put off by the general implication they are not a good idea for beginners, however I came across a couple of YouTube reviews for the Godin A12, which suggested otherwise, one of which was Richards. I spoke with Richard fairly late one evening to enquire about stock via his live chat and he was still online which was surprising. The guitar was in stock and the order placed, each step of the process from order thru to workshop allocation, setup, testing and finally dispatch, were updated via email and on the website, the whole process took 10 days from ordering to my door step. Initial impressions were good, the guitar in its gig bag was very well packaged and arrived in perfect condition, after a quick tune up, the sound was amazing, the action is nice and low and it is considerably easier to play than I was expecting, in fact it only highlights how poor the initial setup on my tele was. Personally I have a long way to go but I definitely have an instrument that inspires me to pick it up anytime I have a few minutes to spare. If you are ever in need of a guitar and Richard stocks it then I would highly recommend Richard over some other online providers, you may not get it next day, but the wait is very much worth it. I received my Godin A6 a couple of weeks ago and I must say I am very impressed, not only with the guitar, but also the service from Richards Guitars. It arrived very well packed and ahead of the projected time. It's a little early to give a practical review of the guitar but suffice to say it's looking very promising, and will probably replace my Martin 000-28 for a lot of my gigs, especially when I'm playing in the full band. These tend to be longer than my solo gigs and a tad more frantic. One of the reasons I went for the A6 is because I have a bit of rheumatism in my thumbs and the narrower neck on the A6 helps a lot without sacrificing an acoustic guitar feel and sound. At the moment I'm experimenting with different strings. The guitar came with nickel wound but I thought I'd try some phosphor bronze which is more in keeping with my acoustics. The Jury is still out! I can certainly recommend Richards Guitars, their attention to detail and concerns over customer satisfaction are excellent.Brad B.

My luthier always changes the factory strings , cleaned it good set the neck, tuned it its to me the epitome of the blues , after setup my luthier whose a player himself played some slide,and finger picked it , his only comment is the chrome is going to be a bear to keep clean but structurally it well put together.Oldzman

It's condition is on par for the price. I had to do some work, but I really like how it plays and sounds now. I had to file the fret ends so it would not cut my hand when moving up/down the fretboard. I also lowered the action by filing down the saddle and filed the string groves down on the nut. Then I buffed and polished the frets. One tuner was installed so crooked that side of the tuner base hangs over the edge of the headstock a bit, but otherwise works fine. Several small blemishes exist throughout the paint job and a few gouges are at the fretboard edge from the factory fret job. I will probably upgrade the tuners eventually. I also took the pickguard with a plastic scraper and hairdryer. I also treated the fretboard with fretboard oil as it looked very dry and ashy. The bridge was rough feeling so I masked it off and sanded it with fine sandpaper. I think it looks much better now.Matt M.
Let me first say, I never do reviews. This guitar far exceeded my expectations so I wanted to write a bit about it. Very cool looks and build on this guitar. Much better than the Epiphone Hummingbird and Dove models. Great tone, feel, and super low action straight from the factory. The tuners are very cheap and don't hold tune that well. With grovers this would be a really cool practice guitar. Use the promo coupon and this guitar is a steal. Has a really cool J-45 feel to it when played and held. I had low expectations, pleasantly surprised. Get the Sunburst model!JJ
I knew very little about RK before buying this guitar but I'm so glad I picked this guitar up. It has a tone that says "real". Woody sounds pour from this guitar. The fit and finish is excellent and the action was surprisingly low. I am thoroughly impressed with this guitar. It's a great value and worth every penny. Perfect action out of the box. These are great guitars. I sold a laminated back and side Yamaha to buy this because it had solid wood construction. The Yamaha was prettier with a sand burst, more binding, and gloss finish but this Recording king has a smoother feeling neck, and might be slightly wider at the nut although the specs are the same, it does feel wider. I measured slightly narrower than 1 3/4". All around great guitar. I would buy this guitar again. It sounds great.Pumpkin
I've got a collection of guitars. Yet, this one sits besides me. Tone is clear and almost magical. There are hints of a parlor tone. I lowered the action a fraction. Put PB D'addareo lights on it. It's all wood and the volume is good and the notes vibrate in a beautiful way through the body. It's my cheapest guitar and my best guitar. I have a Martin, Taylor, Breedlove, Gibson and they all are sitting on the rack. Doesn't sound like a Concert or Dreadnaught. So if you're looking for that sound this is not it. This is good for recordings and small venues. Some may be able to appreciate this guitar. I recognize how awesome it is.David G
An all solid wood box on sale for super cheap? With really good materials and good fit and finish? Pinch me, I'm dreaming! Hah! Acoustics are something that demand up-close-and-personal examination, that are NEVER bought without handling and playing, but with it's stupid low price tag, I did the unthinkable impulsive thing and ordered it out. Not at all disappointed. This is a Spartan acoustic with zero frills and adornments, which is just fine by me as its simplicity only adds to its visual "charm". Aesthetics aside, it has good craftsmanship, the all important neck set angle is correct, playabilty is easy and the fretwork is quite good. Wanting a super low acoustic action for fingerstyle gymnastics, a set of D'Addario 11-52 phosphor-bronze strings were put on, the truss rod was tweaked a bit, and the bone saddle was lowered about .040". Ah, mo' bettah. The tone is quite sweet for this little single 0, not nasal or twangy as found on most little boxes, but with rich mid range overtones that will only get better the longer it's played. As with all mail order acoustics, who knows, this one might just have been one of the "good ones" as ordering online will always be a krap shoot of sorts. 🙂FretTech

Played then bought and super happy. Same specs as a D28 w plastic bridge pins. Does it sound as good as a D28? Nope. Is it a great sounding guitar? Absolutely! I expect it to open up as play it in and for the difference in price (yuge) I'm extremely happy I have it in my arsenal.Charlie
