Not quite what I expected but in a good way. Less melancholy and more power rock by big groups/artists but with a few interesting live or original versions to keep the interest.wiphwil-nhnje2

Another impulse purchase after a short session of enthusiastic rummaging through the 3.00 bin at the local wherever. Although not entirely to my taste, I have to admit to liking about one third of the 36 tracks on this two CD set. CD One: There are some pretty good tracks on this CD including; 'Stuck In The Middle With You' by 'Stealer's Wheel', 'Keep On Loving You' by 'REO Speedwagon', 'Show Me The Way' by Peter Frampton and 'I Don't Want A Lover' by 'Texas. Worthy of an honourable mention is the title track, a cover of the George Harrison / 'The Beatles' number 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps', by the 'Jeff Healey Band'. Not the best on the CD by a long shot but certainly worth a listen. As always there are a couple of total duffers; 'What's Going On' by 'The Taste' and 'Badge' by 'Cream' to name but two. Two tracks I hadn't heard before disappointed me; 'The Thrill Is Gone' by B.B. King and 'After Midnight' by Eric Clapton because, knowing [and liking] some of their other music, I was expecting better from them! CD Two: When I looked through the track listing I thought this was the weaker CD of the set but after listening to it I have to say I prefer more tracks on this CD than the first one. There are some brilliant tracks amd a couple of real goodies worthy of note (*); 'The Road To Hell (Part 2)' by Chris Rea, 'Parisienne Walkways' by Gary Moore (*), 'Woodstock' by 'Mathew's Southern Comfort (*)', 'Hold The line' by 'Toto', 'More than A Feeling' by Boston, 'Blue Guitar' by Justin Hayward & John Lodge 'Whisky In The Jar' by 'Thin Lizzy' I have to confess to being surprised when I first heard 'Jessica' by 'The Allman Brothers Band'. As far as I knew I had never heard of it (or them) but it turned out I knew it very well because it has been used as the theme music to the BBC TV programme 'Top Gear'. As for the duffers; 'Big Log' by Robert Plant and 'Sweet Home Alabama' by 'Lynyrd Skynyrd' are not particularly good but 'Purple Rain' by Prince surely has to take the golden turd award for 'the absolutely worst rendition of a not particularly good track'. That's right, it was bad. Really bad. Bad enough for the other 'not so good' tracks on this CD to look 'not so bad' in comparison. Yes, it really is that bad. I didn't like 'Guitar Town' by Steve Earle. There's nothing particularly wrong with it per se I just don't particularly enjoy Country Music [too much empasis on the first syllable in my opinion]. Overall: The tracks are a bit of an eclectic mix with everything from 'Santana' to 'Stealer's Wheel' taking in 'Toto', 'REO Speedwagon', 'Texas' and 'Thin Lizzy' on the way. Gary Moore deserves an honorable mention for the guitar playing on 'Parisienne Walkways' although the vocals are certainly an acquired taste! Best Track Of The Collection? A very difficult choice, pretty much any of the tracks mentioned above could take the prize but Boston, Texas and REO Speedwagon probably just thrust their noses over the line. It's a photo finish and so close I wouldn't want to call it without a Steward's enquiry. This set is well worth getting particularly if you can pick it up for under a fiver and recently on eBay they have been going for between 2.50 and 4.00 including P&P so why not go for it? What I like about this book is the complete endorsement of the Beatle/singer/songwriter George Harrison. I admired his work from a distance all of these years, and it's great to read about it and gain some relevant understanding of his compositions. I was particularly glad to have some insight into the Indian inspired works. My viewpoint was previously lacking an appreciation for the intricacies of these compositions, as they adhered to proper Indian structure. Where other writers tend to stick to the Lennon/McCartney path of study and praise(which has ample merit),accounts of George's body of work with an empathetic and still critically analytical approach has been sadly lacking. Simon Leng lends his expertise to the task in a manner that is all of the above. He doesn't veer away from honest criticism, but embraces what many of us have loved about George Harrison's music without having to compare it to anyone else's. No one else has to match his former bandmates in style or content, so why should he. His work stands on it's own merit. While My Guitar Gently Weeps, by Simon Leng is a must have volume for fans of George Harrison, and the Beatles for that matter. It's a good read, interesting and full of the details many of us enjoy knowing about the music we enjoy.glennamer

CD contains over 30 songs of which only one is Chris rea whilst your advert implies this is a Chris rea album . The CD is in perfect condition so I will keep it. But disappointed.gambl3

I love Prince, that being said I would like to hear him in his entirety! I do not like edited music nor movies. I was really excited to receive the cd until I popped it in and began to listen to this monstrosity. I would not recommend this cd on this bases.mr.d.beavers2012

There's a good variety of songs on this. If you already have all the albums that these songs are from, you may not want to buy this. However, there is ONE song on this album that does not appear on other albums. For me, I bought it especially to have the song I didn't already have. Some of these songs are not edited the same as they first appeared on each album individually. Some songs contain explicit language. It should have an advisory sticker on it, but it doesn't. Parents beware. Sexy MF doesn't abbreviate in the song… so if you know what MF is…NPGgirl

I am happy with this CD with the exception that M.D.S.R. was not on it. However, I ended up purchasing the 1999 album which includes it on it. I give this a 5 star due to the many songs and hits that Prince has done through out the years which is on this album.veroniccharle_9

Interesting, but not very indepth look at the making of the guitar. I expected more and better pictures of the build and design. Drawings were very hard to see properly. Given the size I expected it to take me more than the 4 hours it did to read (and I'm a slow reader). This is a new edition, and has some more recent information. I dont know if this is as the result of sacrificing some from the previous edition. Without reading one I wont know.trxbloke

I've always liked Queen, but was also fascinated with the sounds Brian May got out of his guitar – especially since it was handmade. I've built guitars myself and wired stratocasters up in a similar way to Brians wiring. However this book goes more in depth on the build, with historical photos, plans and photod of the Red Special in bits! The most fascinating thing I'd found was the body is actually made out of block wood, not mahogany like I thought it was and that there's an actual switch plate under the pickguard. The book goes over all aspects of the guitar build. I know the books about the guitar, but it would have been good to have a little more info on his delay and amp setups as well as the "Deacy amp". But it's a great read none the less.schmidtp72

Words can't even describe what Prince means 2 me, but Walmart please get it right, The Revolution is NOT on this Album, its all Prince every word, every beat, every note, on a rare Rock Album he recorded 2 fulfill has Contract 2 Warner Bros., a classic. Gorgeous remastered Purple Vinyl Slab, worth way more than what i paid here! Love u 4ever Prince.Francis
