I picked this up for my son so he could practice around the house. Killer stocking stuffer! When the son is away the dad will now play. I started playing my Mustang Bass through this and it did the job. It's a small amp, not a practice amp. This is perfect for camping trips, rocking at the office or kicking it in the backyard. Took a chance on this and purchased it without every playing it. Watched video reviews on it and gave it a shot. Yes, I know that it's small in size, smaller than a kids lunchbox but I hoped it'd produce quality sound and what I got was muddy sounds at increased volumes. It's not clear sounding and my goal to play through an amp is to sound good and I felt if I actually played this in front of people, the muddyness would make me sound amateurish. So, for what you pay for this, yes, you get amplified but it's not real great quality, unless you're a metal player because you don't get a clean sound from this. I rate this 3 stars because it's convenient to have a portable battery operated tiny amp that you can plug into and get sound from, however, the quality almost makes you not even want to play it.Jesse

Sound: I bought the Ampeg Microvr Head originaly with one Ampeg 2-10" cabinet as a part of matched set, as most people do – about three months a later I bought another cabinet – so now I'm often running two of the same cabinets and the head together. When you plug in the second cabinet the rig gets noticeably louder in this set up, and also appears to have a much more deeper bass tone(if you want it). Adding the second cabinet added $300 to my rig – but if you can afford it, the sound is far superior to just the single cabinet, and gives you a lot of flexiblity. For smaller indoor venues like playing bass behind people with pugged in acoustic guitars, I run the head with just one cabinet and it sounds fine – both tone and volume wise. When I playing along with a drummer most of the time I opt for using two cabinets rather than just one. At higher volumes – like playing with a drummer it just sound stronger and fuller in every respect than by using just the single 2 10" cabinet. I'm either running a recent custom C.F. Martin Acoustic/ Electric Bass guitar, or a Fender Precession Bass, through the rig – depending on who and what I'm playing on music wise. It works excellent with either instrument and I am very happy with the set up. Even with just one cabinet you won't be dissapointed. Features: Happy with everything that it came with feature wise. Didn't like the stock power cord that came with because it was very stiff and hard to wind up – Ampeg should switch vendors and get a power cord supllier that could offer them a more felxible cord of the same quality that you cound wind up easier. Ease of Use: Tone controls are easy to figure out and use. Rear connections on the amp are simple, straight forward and easy to use, and hook things up. I often use a Martin acoustic bass guitar with this rig – so I use a Fishman DI preamp in between my bass and the amp – this being done basically to help control feedback at higher volumes (especially when playing out door gigs) and to fine tune the tone on the acoustic bass a bit more. My Fender bass sounds fine with out the Fishman preamp and the controls on the amp head work well with it – giving you many mutiple tone combinations depending on how you set them. Also my Fender fretless bass sounds really good through the amp and the matched speaker that you will most likely buy with the head. Quality: Quality seems very high. After about two years of owning and active giging – it is holding up extremely well. Over the last year or so I have taken it out on local gigs about twice a week, So it's been out of my house more than a hundred times so far, and there haven't been any issues so far – all this in all kinds of weather and temperatures. I had black vinyl covers made for the head (from a custom amp cover innernet company)and for both speaker cabinets as soon as I bought everything – so even aften trucking the units all over the place for quite awhile now they still all look fresh and brand new. The power cord that came with it was very stiff and always hard to roll up – so I bought an after market cord on a website cord supplier that was more flexible and easier to wind up. I've used the after market power cord every since. The head has a fan in the back that runs whever the unit is powered up, that when you first get the amp drives you crazy – because it appears to sound so loud. Truth is though while you may hear it running in your house when practing – you never do at gigs. At any gig the room and enviroment background noise easily drown it out right away – you just never hear the fan running at all. When I first got it I though something was wrong with the fan – there wasn't. Its an Ampeg thing – that is the low fan noise in a quiet background setting. Keeps everything cool inside the head – so you can certainly live with it. I got used to it after awhile and don't even notice it anymore. No one has ever commented to me anywhere about any fan noise coming from my amp. So don't think something is wrong with the fan when you first get the head. Value: The original outlay (about $600 for the head and one matching cabinet) is a bit steep compared to several other small bass amps on the market out there – but you get what you pay for I guess. Due to the price saddly – alot of bass players might not be able to buy one and will go with something cheaper out there. Before buying this I looked around for about two months at other rigs on the innernet, at music stores, and at othet musicians' bass rigs when watching them perform. This unit was replacing a Hartke Kickback 12 – which I used for about three years for the same type of smaller gigs – which is for more low volume type of dealsthat I play at – where you don't have to worry about shaking the room and making the paint peel of the walls when you hit your low E string on something like Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac". Sound: I own the Microvr amp and 2 210svtav cabs. I bought the second cab after I got the Mircovr set up. The sound sound you get from this things for the money blows anything else out their out of the water. To get the rated 200watts performance you need a 2nd cab as the load with one cab is 8 ohms at 150 watts. Light weight portability and small footprint size are a plus especially if your space chanllenged. This thing rocks. Features: This is a no frills set up. Has what you need to have great sound with a headphone jack to play practice in a low noise enviroment. Ease of Use: It has a 3 band eq section that you can dial in easy to find a sound you like. Its no svtpro 7 but for the money you will not find a better amp in its class. Quality: This amp is made solid. Mimics the old school look of the 70s svt lineup. Value: With anything you purchase you wish you could get it for less thats just the way it is. But for the money you will not find a better sounding and well made rig in this class. The Microvr and 210 svtvr cab set up is da bomb. If you want portability light weight and the best sound get this AMPEG. Manufacturer Support: I have had no issues with this amp. I have owned it for about 2 years now and play on it alot. Its an AMPEG. The Wow Factor: This thing looks great sounds great and its and AMPEG. Overall: I will always have this amp. I was really surprised at how good this amp sounds. Years ago I tried Line 6 and was not at all happy with the tone; but this is another story. It does take me awhile to dial in a specific classic rock tone, but when I do, it sounds better than any other amp that I've tried. I have tried the Marshall Code, Blackstar id Core, Vox Valvetronix, Boss Katana; as well as some all tube amps. The only other amp that is a close 2nd is the Fender Mustang GTX; also a great amp. The Spider V is fairly easy to operate. It offers lots of choices for amp models and cabinets. I like that it has variations of a mic'd cabinet. The parametric eq is a plus. I haven't played around too much with the effects yet, so I can't comment on that. The only negative thing I could say is that when you're editing a preset and want to hear how it sounds before you save it, you only have a short time before it goes back to the Home Screen. This really is a small price to pay for the quality of the amp and all the versatility it has. I like the App too. Musicians Friend got me a great on this as well; and their agent is following up making sure that I'm satisfied. The funny thing is that I came across this by accident. I placed an order for a Peavey amp that was on back order. I called Peavey multiple times, but they never returned my call. I also emailed them, but they didn't respond to that either. As far as I'm concerned, Peavey doesn't have any customer support.crrkr
Been playing about a year, so my review is from the perspective of a complete newbie. The things I like- Lots of presets, mobile app functions, computer interface, and loads of user created effects available. Nice and loud, but no real basis of comparison to say if clarity is better or worse than other comparable amps. Don't likes- The micro-usb interface. I had to get an adapter and it's just not as good a connection as nearly anything else would be. IMHO, micro-usb is far too flimsy. Connecting to PC is far more problematic than just using the spider mobile app. It's probably a little more complicated than it should be for a beginner, but it's feature rich for the money.Nic T
I had a Line 6 120w amp for years that I regrettably sold a while ago and was looking for another amp. I looked at all the amp reviews I could find and decided that the new Katana was the way to go. I got the Katana home and absolutely loved it but the second day I had it it started a really loud buzzing that I couldn't stop. It probably was an easy fix but the fact is the amp was way too powerful for my purposes and their software wasn't compatible with the new Catalina OS. I returned and started looking again. I saw the 60w Spider V and the price was excellent so I made an on the spot decision to buy another Line 6 and I'm really glad I did. The tones this amp can get are incredible. There are so many amp models and cabs that you can dial in pretty much any tone you want from a crispy snapback country clean to the most vicious heavy metal and everything in between. You can use the presets as they are or you can use them as a baseline and tweak to your own liking or you can start from scratch and build your own rig from the ground up. The controls are intuitive and easy to use but there are some features where you'd have to be a professional to really know how to use or even care to use. The software and the mobile app are so easy to use and give you all the options at your fingertips. The amp comes with a lot of presets that I find are completely useless but there are a lot that are excellent as I already talked about. There are only four empty slots for your own custom presets and I wish there were more but if you use the mobile app you can have your own tone library on there. I bought the FBV3 foot controller so that gives me a lot of flexibility to have various effects. One of the limitations is the lack of good effects though. There's enough that if you work at it you can get a decent sound but there could be some better ones. Overall I would recommend the amp. Don't listen to the naysayers or the amp snobs, it's a quality amp and extremely versatile.Just Plain Joe

Overall: I had an Acoustic B200 Combo amp. I loved the sound of it because it had the same sound as the old '70's era Acoustic bass amps. I like a clean, clear bass sound. After burning up the power amps in two of the B200's I decided it was time to try something else, so I bought the Rumble 200. I plugged it in and turned it on for the first time, and in about 60 seconds I found the exact sound I was looking for – just like my old Acoustic. The tone controls are way simpler to figure out than the Acoustic was. It's nice to have a good sounding bass amp that I can carry with one hand! The only complaint I have is that the controls are on the top of the amp on the backside, that's why I rated features a 4. If they were on the frontside of the top that would be better, but front mounted would be best. But for the sound, quality, and price this is a very minor inconvenience. It's a good sounding and good looking little unit!Brett
Overall: I read all the reviews for this before making a decision between this amp and an Ampeg with a 15". I love Sunn and Ampeg bass amps: that is what I grew up with along with a Fender 100 tube amp that had a four 12 cabinet that rocked. Some reviewers stated this amp was straight out of the sixties or sounded like an old Bassman. They are right. First time I turned it on and turned it up a bit it sounded just like my Bassman 100 but with a deep throaty sound that old school bass players like me crave. How Fender was able to get a true tube sound into this solid state amp is pure genius. I feels like a tube amp. Deep and it seems to have a slight sag to it. Very impressive. I turn the horn off, leave the eq knobs at straight détente, use the vintage button in and it sounds incredible The overdrive channel is a monster to itself: horn off, straight up eq and you can go from mild breakup like you would get with slightly overdriven preamp tubes to an amp maxed out. think of Grand Funk, Deep Purple etc. I haven't spoken about the volume and wattage yet. When you crank it up to where you feel your pant legs wobbling and your stomach churning you realize that this is no toy. The decibels this can put out are truly amazing for it's size. I runs at 120 watts as is but add another 8 ohm cab and it jumps to 200 watts. That 120 is loud as hell and the only reason to add another cab is if you want a couple of tens and it would sound great. Myself, I would add the Fender one 15 cab and get that volume and bass that would take the house down. Looks like a toy, but a real fire breather inside.Mark

800W Thunder Box. So far, so good, so what, right? Many preset settings to try and find the right sound, or you can jump online and find user premade settings and tweak to your earhole's content. Connect via Bluetooth and change settings with your phone (via app) or the footswitch. It pumps much air, so probably not the best home practice amp if you value glass in and around your home, but perfect for every other application. Recommended outside toy. Overall: unless you are on tour with Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, or Metalica I can't imagine you needing much more than this combo offers. I have many basses, and i am able to capture the individual characteristics of each easily. I owned, and still own a Rumble 500 V3 and love that also. The technical advancements, and improvements are the reason I purchased it. I saw a future in updateable firmware, downloadable presets, WiFi capabilities, and USB capabilities. I am about a little over my third month with the Stage 800, and I haven't even started with the foot pedal, set list programming and looping. All we really wanna know is what does it sound like? It sounds like just about everything I've ever heard and that is good. Forget the name, or intended preset, the question is does it sound good? It sounds fantastic. In addition it is light and plenty loud, but can played silently while you practice through your earphones, as you're learning music streaming through your Bluetooth connection. The foot switch is included with the Stage 800, and you have the Fender Tone App you can download on your phone and adjust the tone from across the room, and download new presets created by other users. This thing is wonderful. For such a tiny speaker with low wattage, RUMBLE, is no joke and not just advertising. I'm surprised but at low volumes it sounds great, and mid as well. I've yet to pump it to the max but I live in an apartment so I'm happy w/ low to mid. The presets are great, and you can download an additional 50 or so presets with the computer application. The tones are sweet and warm; Fender got it RIGHT!! Beats the VOX emulator by far. VOX sounds tinny and hollow; Fender warm and thick; love it and would recommend. THANK YOU FENDER!! Really impressed with this small amp/cab combo. Truly great, vintage tube-like warmth, punching lows and crisp highs are all accessible. The headphone output is super useful for practice. The 2×10 cabinet this amp is paired with sounds really awesome for home recording, small gigs (50ish people) and if mic'd, can adapt well for larger gigs. Without an extra 12" or 15" paired with it, it just can't handle the lows at a high volume. I've owned this amp for about 5 months now and it is perfect for small venues, church, and recording. I haven't really needed to use the speaker cab much as I mainly use in ears for live performances, but it is nice to have just in case and so the rig looks complete. The XLR out from the head is a great feature and one of the big reasons I purchased this and allows for a crisp sound to whatever you may be plugging in to. I have used this for live performances and recording for backing (split) tracks. You can get any sound out of this little guy and it never disappoints. Don't be fooled by the small size, it can sound massive with the right settings and EQ. The small size allows me to fit all my gear in the back of a small hatchback car. I researched this greatly before purchasing it and do not have any regrets. If i need more volume for situations that in ears won't allow, I may purchase a second matching speaker cab and I am sure that would be plenty for whatever situation. Wrong… this little sucker has got PLENTY of power for what I'm using it for: home practice and loud weekend jams with my bandmates. Currently pairing with a Peavey Tour 210 cab. The Elf is like the Yoda of bass amps. Though it may be small, it is packed with the power of the force. I use this amp with a pair of the Trace Elliot 1×10 cabinets and it will easily cover 95% + of my gigging needs. The tone is classic TE and it is certainly loud enough (running at 200W) to keep up with an "average" rock band with a couple guitars and acoustic drums. Now, it's NOT going to make your trousers flap in the wind of excessive SPLs or send patrons running to the loo from super intense low frequency coming off the stage's backline but that's where the Elf's built-in Direct Out comes into play and it works and sounds great. Your audio tech will be duly impressed with your tone blasting out of the house (FOH) speakers. Many buy the Elf as a backup amp and because of its size and light weight that makes good sense but truthfully it can hold its own as a main amp. Well, certainly for my needs it can. I have owned Ampeg, Eden, SWR, Fender and a few other bass rigs. All were refrigerator-sized and weight. I plugged this little guy in along with the 208 cab and was totally blown away by the quality of the tone, the volume level and the size. The salesguy at the store even told me I was too loud. Put this baby smack in a corner of the stage and your presence is well felt and heard across the room. it won't knock your pants legs loose but it will be clean and powerful enough bass to be present amongst the other instruments. If you need anymore umph then the DI is a fantastic feature. The Elf puts out a really clean signal to the board. One con about the DI, there is no pre/post switch. I can imagine the components inside are packed like sardines so no more room for anything like that unless T E releases an Elf Mach II in the future. No Mute switch either. This unit is so lightweight and compact it's no issue to bring it along anywhere. Got rid of all of the refrigerator units to get the Elf with 2X8 cab. Well worth the investment. Just so small! Have this sat on top of a TC electronics BC 208 2×8 cabinet and whilst it's a bit too much for a home practice set up it's incredibly practical for home practice. Sounds great through the cabinet and can be stashed in a small space and moved around easily. Casting my memory back the first half decent combo I bought (back in the 1990s) was a Trace Elliot 1×15 with delivering about 130W. It weighed a ton. The Elf and 2×8 sounds every bit as good as the old combo (bit tighter, less rich low end from the cabinet) but moving it around is a breeze. If you're planning to use it only at home practice volumes be aware that although the fan noise is quiet, it is audible when playing at neighbour-friendly levels. Still five stars as there's no way to have 200W of power in such a compact unit without a fan and the fan is a very quiet fan.Ledgerwood C.

Was looking for a small light weight amp whilst away from home, not wanting to lug around my heavy tube amp, cab and good sized pedal board. This amp fit's the bill perfectly. This amp sounds great, the onboard effects sound good to my ear. And I also like the controls on this amp. Simple layout that makes it easy and fast to dial in a decent sound. If you need more flexibility the architect software, which is a free download from Blackstar, is straight forward to use giving you even more flexibility. Another thing I like about this amp is as I'm away I often need to us headphones, no to disturb the neighbours, through the architect software, you can change the cab simulation from 112, 212, 412, even choose what mic simulation is used, which I think it's an excellent addition to this already impressive small amp. This amp also sounds great through its built-in speakers, giving it a great stereo sound. For this price I honestly cannot fault it, I did look at other amps but settled for this. I hate amp hunting. I wanted something small and specific for a home studio. Shiny cleans with some grit too? Quality build? Under $600? I searched the used listings for weeks trying to find a deal. Nothing really GETS me. Finally, utterly sick of shopping, I walked into Sam Ash, saw this thing on the shelf and just bought it. Didnt try it. Just read the specs online, read a few reviews and snagged it. I figure, worst case scenario I'll return it tomorrow. Let me say, the sound from this amp is just so incredibly nice. Even without pedals, the built in reverb sounds very good. Not splashy, more like a plate reverb. Adding a transparent overdrive makes my G&L ASAT sound like a tone monster. I have no specific affinity for Blackstar. Never owned a single one of their products and I am totally blown away by this thing. I don't know a thing about the tonal waveforms and harmonic frequencies of the most expensive boutique amps but, on a stage or studio I'd put this amp up to pretty much anything. It FEELS good. It sounds good. Between my guitar and an overdrive pedal and the tone knob on the amp itself, I'm able to pull at least 6 very distinct tones before I even engage the dirty channel. I bought this amp a few months ago after LOTS of research, having finally decided to replace my previous amp of about 20 years! (A Marshall AVT half stack) Firstly, it looks amazing IMO and build quality looks and feels great too. I play in two bands, one playing southern rock, the other heavy rock/classic metal so needed something that was going to cover a pretty wide range of sounds. The Blackstar handles it amazingly! Wonderful warm crunches all the way to chugalicious highly saturated metal gains. The high gains are so smooth and creamy too and not 'scratchy'. (Something I always struggled with with the AVT) The clarity is also pretty amazing at high gain too. Individual notes can be picked out clearly and not just lost in a fuzzy mush. The 2 OD channels work perfectly for the two separate sounds I'm looking for to suit each band, with Voicing on each channel giving even more versatility. This amp produces beautiful cleans too, which can also break up nicely if you push the clean channel volume up. I'd also really recommend the optional 5-way footswitch, shame this doesn't come as standard, but hey..! All in all, I'm absolutely over the moon with this amp. It can do everything from sparkling cleans to tasty crunch and up to all the gain you could wish for. I've even been able to get THAT Stevie Ray Vaughan tone! 😍 But not only that, it's not some 'Jack of all trades, master of none'…it absolutley nails all of these brilliantly! First off I'm an old school Sound Engineer. This little Amp does it all. It has so many uses even though it is so simple. It will teach you to learn to use the controls on your guitar better. Unlike several modeling amps this little piggy takes most stomp boxes GREAT!! Maybe he best feature is its Pre Amp Out which allows you a line into the PA or it will blow you away going into the input of your tube amp giving you a realist boost over any stomp box. At low volumes using the proper guitars pickups sparkling cleans. and this Piggy was made to be dirty. Best tool to have as a back up. Great traveling amp. Battery Life is goes a long way just get rechargeable and carry a small battery recharger in its little closed stash compartment. I don't recommend using the power cord. I'm sure there are some youngsters that differ with me but the old schoolers that like it raw and understand how to dial in their tone without playing with mods will dig this amp/fuzz box. If you have a nice clean tube amp but want some growl and extra volume pre amp this baby into your amp. I have several pedals and over drives and most all become thin bringing up the volume compared to this. it just gets thicker and more meaty as you increase the vol. My buddy are blown away with what comes out of the PA with this little Piggy and just a couple of effects my 86 RAT with this work well together.Cool mixes
I have the tweed covered version of the legendary 7-100, so it sounds the same as the leatherette covered version. I was very surprised at the rich tone of this amp. I am using it with 6 AA's not the power supply (dont know what difference that makes tonally) and it sounds like a tweed champ. You can get clean tones that have just a touch of twang with single coils or weaker humbuckers (gretsch) at a lower volume and form 1/4 of the way up you get progressively more and more tweedish ( let's face it-tweed breakup is basically distortion that fuzzes up as the gain increases) type distortion. With a tele you are in rolling stones territory, and with a humbucker equipped guitar you are in Neil Young land. It is awesome for recording, just stick your mic in front and go! It takes pedals well also. I love the simplicity-no time spent tweaking controls, plug in and rock. That said; this is not an ideal amp for a young beginner guitar player. A young kid will not appreciate what this amp gives. But for experienced players who like a "tweed' tone at a dirt cheap price this cannot be beat. Also, dont listen to the nonsense from guys who own one of the "original" ones that these new ones are no good-that's crap. The circuit has not changed regardless of who constructs it.padraic9143
Mr. Chatter is a great. The Pignose sounds line a vintage amp that gives you vintage guitar sounds from the 60s and 70s. This is a real analog amplifier not digital modeling The. Pignose is hand made and a quality piece of gear that will give many years of enjoyment with its rugged construction and quality components. The Pignose is surprisingly loud and versatile. The output jack allows you to send the Pignose to an amp or power amp/PA. I recommend getting the wall wart to save battery usage for outside use. Even the adapter fits inside of the Pignose. I got the original brown and it goes with home decor very easily. The Pignose can do cleans, overdrive and fuzz tones and does well with single coil pickups. The Pignose is very dynamic and you need to use your volume knob and hand to control the amp, like a real tube amp. Inwish I got a Pignose years ago. Don't buy this amp expecting to gig with it at anything more than very low volume levels. Matched with sensitive speakers and master volume set at full, you might be happy with the volume you can get with maybe an acoustic set. The BAM 200 would be fine for practicing and jamming with a friend in the basement, but add drums and an amped guitarist and I think you will struggle to be heard. It's output sounds closer to 30 or 40 watts RMS, rather than the mystery 200 watts TC Electronics rates this mini. Tone was OK, a little fat if you over do the bass control and the preamp sections seems to overload easily, even with low output basses. I really don't have a good use for it after buying it, but it is easy to transport!airtow
The perfect no frills small unit. Haven't really road tested due to virus shutdowns but home bound sound is fantastic. I originally bought for a backup type amp but am quickly becoming enamored by its tonal qualities. Over the past few years I have been trying to reduce my equipment footprint and lugging around effort. I have another TC Electronics amp (BH250) along with a 2×12 cab and a 2×10 cab. These have been fantastic in small and medium venues – larger venues all seem to have their own sound systems which tap into my setup. Now, with the addition of this unit, I can even run my Rickenbacker in stereo without breaking my back hauling around a lot of equipment. The sound coming out of the BAM is smooth and even. It can get very very thin or very very fat and everything in between controls are solid and even. The only thing I would say that might be missing is an 'auxiliary in' but that can be side stepped with a small mixer. All in all a great buy for a very big sounding little D amp that can almost fit in a jacket pocket.2991tom

Wow, i love this amp! the only reason i'm letting it go is because i'm moving. some small signs of wear but works like new. with an eye to the past, while still looking forward, fender's bassbreaker series puts classic tones at your fingertips, with a few twists to offer up a wider palette. the bassbreaker 15 combo guitar amp gets its 15 watts of class ab from an el84 power section, and three distinct voicings offer up clean to high-gain tones, giving you a ton of sonic territory to explore. and the bassbreaker 15 is a stellar choice for studio work. you can push it to saturation at ear-friendly volumes or use the xlr line-out with switchable speaker emulation and power amp mute to capture true tube tones straight out of the amp. the bassbreaker 15 is a classic fender with a british twist.

When I was researching for a good tube amp, I loved what I read and heard about this amp on YouTube and review sites. It was everything I wanted: excellent tone, quiet enough for home but enough punch to gig with, and prdal friendly. However, there was one glaring review that jumped out at me: several people reported recieving an amp that wouldn't work out of the box. But it was only a few people, right? Coincidence maybe. Allow me to introduce myself. My name us Mark and if anything bad can possibly happen, it'll happen to me. When the amp arrived it was a late day from work and i only had time to unpack and visually inspect. Everything looked good and I placed it among my gear. But when the weekend rolled around, I plugged it in and nada. Lights came on, but not a single sound from the amp. I reviewed the manual and checked the fuse but we were dead in the water. This is the point where you write a bad review, correct? Well, I contacted Musicians Friend and they went above and beyond to help me send the amp back at no cost and had a replacement on the way immediately. When it arrived I have to admit that I was pretty nervous opening it and plugging it up. But with the first notes played, I was elated. The amp was everything as advertised, and sounds amazing. I'll never know for sure what was wrong with the original amp but tubes can be a fickle thing when being shipped. My story was an adventure, but it has a happy ending. These are my initial impressions and I've been playing for fun for about 25 years, but haven't played electric guitar for about 7 years mainly because my Gibson goldtone head and cab are just so loud that I preferred playing acoustic guitar. I finally decided I needed a usable amp and first got a positive grid spark. That's still an impressive amp, but it got me really wanting a great tube amp that was more appropriate for my situation. I looked at boutique amps and really liked some black star stuff, blues Jr, and several others. A buddy who had gone through similar struggles, but actually bought some amps and used them and with my experiments with the modeling amp as much as I could and my experience back when I was in bands and playing around with a bunch of different setups, decided to go with the bassbreaker. Wow. It's so versatile and so easy to get good tones from. I was honestly thinking of swapping speakers or something else but I can just simply get so many great tones. It really reminds me a lot of most tweed amps, some Marshall amps, some mesa amps and a bit of the reverbs and the bassmans (I haven't played these in a long time though). It doesn't mimic my Gibson Goldtone with 1×12 and 1×15, but at this point I don't care and actually found that I don't really want to emulate that amp. I will admit I didn't use that cab with this combo nor have I done any recording with it. I know this is all completely subjective garbage, but that's mostly the nuances we face in music. Go play it in person or trust me that it's got a great versatility for maybe a gritty jazz guy to metal recording (most metal guitarists use more gain and fuzz than make it to a recording).Joe R
After trying many different amps in this price range I found this one used. I was instantly impressed by the tone. The updated tolex, knobs, and speaker cloth were a definite improvement visually. Mine came with a greenback speaker. Swapped it for a g12H30 and sounded even better. Left it on over night by accident one evening and experienced the redplate issue others have reported. The way the amp head is designed makes it virtually unserviceable. Several circuit boards crammed into a tiny space. The back plate is wired into these boards. Some tech's won't even touch it. Check youtube. Even using today's technology Leo Fender would have never designed it this way. Fender corporation is a disgrace!Chuck

Overall: I was expecting this thing to really thump/rock—-eh, I guess after trying to tune itin to just one good sound it was ok. It has a buttload of features but I found most ofthem kinda cheesy. I have had a few BS guitar amps that just plain sounded great!As bad as this sounds–I just replaced the BS B210 with a Bugera blx115 with the paper cone—IT SMOKES THE BLACKSTAR—just sayin!Rodney
I purchased this bass amp for shows and rehearsals. First off, the onboard distortion was exactly what I was looking for. Easily controlled, and clean sounding. Doesnt get in your way. I didnt use the other effects much though, as my bands sound didnt need the verb, chorus or octave. But even the compression/tube emulation sounded great. It is plenty loud to jam with a band, or on about any stage size. Would buy again.Chase
I’d never had any experience with Blackstar products so I didn’t know what to expect, I must say, I’m very impressed. Build quality is exceptional, pots are all very smooth and linear. The tolex is beautiful and feels very high quality. Features are well thought out. The compressor is subtle and effective (it does exactly what a bass compressor is supposed to do!) Amp models are useful without being way overdone. The chorus is interesting, not something I’d really find myself wanting but it’s a fun little bonus. I really like the tone controls having a parametric eq for the mids, with sweepable freq. All in all, a very solid little amp, great size for practice but 60 watts into a 10” speaker would do very well in a smaller venue and/or a small acoustic gig. Hope Blackstar decides to do a head version with aroun 500 Watts, I’d be inclined to add it to the gigging setup for sure!

Bought this amp based on many reviews on youtube, looked at many other models first but am glad I decided on the Amplifi 150. Also bought the FBV Shortboard MKII, a must have in my opionion, more on this later. Amp has excellent sound and can be used as a wireless bluetooth speaker. When I downloaded the Amplifi app that is when I really found out what this amp could do. You can play a song from your music library through the app and it will quickly find/display "presets" from the cloud to try. If you find one you like you can save it the way it is or edit it to your taste. With only the amp you can save 4 presets, by adding the shortboard you can save 100 presets, in 25 banks of 4. The shortboard also comes with a built in tuner and wah/volume pedal. Using the app you create your own sounds too. Choose from 200 different amps, many different stomp boxes, delay, reverb, modulation effects. Has noise gate, compressor, equilizer and volume. It took one short call to Line6 support to resolve a few issues I had initially, easy common sense errors on my part (how to store and retrieve the presets and how to increase the music playback so it was at the same level as my gutar). Once this was resolved I have had nothing but fun using the AmplifiErt68
Kudos to Line6 for such an innovative product. First of all, this is not a tube amp and Line6 never claims it to be…so please don't try and compare this to tube amps. It synced to my 3rd Gen iPad instantly and very quickly found tone suggestions for all my songs…even some of my own band. Some were dead on perfect…others required a little tweaking to get them to my liking. This depends on what kind of guitar you have plugged in – single-coil Strat, humbucker Les Paul, etc. The Tone Editor does a great job and is very intuitive. The included instructions are pretty lame; they basically show you how to plug in your guitar, turn on the amp and sync to an iOS device. After that, you are on your own to find more information. Luckily, the Line6 website has helpful videos and a great user forum for info. I had to update my firmware from 1.02 to 2.01 to be able to play all of the 100 mfg presets. Originally, I only had the 4 presets. The upgrade was easy, following the instructions on the website. This thing is plenty loud and I think it has a great tone and endless possibilities. This "amp" (it does more than most guitar amps) is extremely versatile. The secret is in the bluetooth connection to the Line6 app called Aplifi (free download) which allows you to edit your patches on your IOS device (an ipad is much easier than an iphone). Pick from 80+ amps, a large selection of pedals and effects, and drop-and-drag them into any order you want – then hit SAVE and you have that sound at the touch of a button. You can share your sounds with others via the Line6 library – and you can download other patches as well. The unit has 4 preset buttons – so your first 4 presets are accessable even if you don't have the app, but you really need to the app to edit the patches. Match this with a Line6 floor pedalboard (make sure you use Cat5 PATCH cable and not CROSSOVER cables) and you've got a great rig. It's loud enough that you can hear it on a stage in a club against other combo amps. There are a lot of modeling devices out there (Line 6 boards) but the trick is finding the full range flat response speaker system that can let you really hear those sounds correctly – as if you were plugged into a recording console. This until has all the editing ability AND the speaker for the amp. It also doubles as a great bluetooth speaker system – so you can play yourspotify tunes over this with plenty of clear power. Finally, it's stylish that you can have it your living room and not look like Guitar Center. The 150w version is loud enough to keep up with most live gig bands on smaller stages (and most venues would mic it anyway). It doesn't have an option for a extention speaker or line out (to a mixer of FOH) but you can record from the USB port, so there's that option. If you have versatile playing style (I play in several cover bands so I need to go from Taylor Swift to Bruno Mars to Journey to John Mayer) it's a great purchase. Back in the day I played through a 90's Ampeg SVT-2 with an 8×10 cab and have always loved that Ampeg tone. A year ago I got back into music and purchased the V4B and the matching SVT 2×12 cab. I love both the tone and portability. While the V4B is obviously not the same, it's every bit as versatile and sounds great at low volumes while keeping the hum almost non-existant. Whether playing through a RIC 4003 or a P-bass, I can get booming lows, mid range grind grind, and/or clear cutting highs. The build quality is great and the price reasonable. My only complaint is at $1200, I wish it would have shipped with an amp cover. I was able to buy one separately…but it would have been nice not to.Chris
Without a doubt it is the most fun in an amp I have ever had! I've gone through them all: 60's Bassman, Marshall MKII Super Bass, Gallien Kreuger and an Ampeg B15 – the V4b has the power of the Marshall and the tone shaping of the GK in one amp. I prefer the crunch (grit) of the V4B to my old Marshall (which was an unreliable, noisy one trick amp). The V4B's tonal variations are really impressive. All in all this is my favorite amp in a long succession of amps.GORGO
Played SVT’s for years, until I finally decided the weight was enough. So for the past 10 years it’s been lightweight class d amps to save my back. Got to play one of these in a medium 450 seat club through a 6×10. Boom?? I was blown away. Got home after the tour and ordered one of these and cannot say how impressed I am by the sure volume you get out of 100 watts, and of course the classic AMPEG tone. This was a refurbished item It Arrived with a broken power button and a non functioning light on the volume knob. So….. Endless possibilities. Instruction book/manual is terrible. Went on you tube and found a video on basic set up and it helped immensely. Once you get the idea, it is simple and makes sense. Best sounds and Uber customizable. I use it for bass but it can be used for just about any instrument from keyboard to guitar. Looks good in the rack. Can't beat the price!tesummerill
Pairing this with a foot controller, unlocks a lot of features and/or makes them easier to use while playing. There are a lot of tips online, but the major tip is with setting the overall input gain into the unit. When set properly, this thing behaves as it should. For my purposes (generally practice, jamming by myself), it's a great unit. Other uses I would recommend this preamp for are cover bands, studio/session bassists, anything where a variety of tones is necessary. This unit differs from a lot of other preamps, in that you can model different amps with different cabs, or turn that feature completely off, making this a bit less static than other similar preamps. The user interface is a bit of a learning curve, but once you start getting it down, you realize it's pretty intuitive and well thought out.monti2889
