What a brilliant guitar and superb value package! I have owned ‘real’ Gibsons over the years and bought this outfit as a birthday gift for my granddaughter who is learning to play. She has had a fender acoustic for a couple of years and now wants her own electric guitar. I chose this outfit as having previously owned one in the past I like Epiphone guitars. Before giving it to her I thought it best to check it over and set it up but there was nothing to do really, after tuning this guitar was perfectly playable right out the box! The feel, balance and weight is very like my Gibson and the sound is superb. The amp is excellent and packs enough punch to put a smile on your face too. She’s delighted with the built in tuner as well as the other essentials included in the outfit. What’s not to like? I can’t find a better value package!W O.
My original review still stands, but I made cosmetic-only upgrades for less than an average couple's meal at a casual restaurant that makes this look much, much more expensive. No tuner, pickup or pot swaps. Replaced black plastic parts with cream, added cream pickguard, replaced chrome tuner knobs with Klausen-style ivory-look knobs. Installed chrome pickup covers. Replaced speed knobs with gold top-hats.Easily done to make this look like a proper Les Paul. I'm happy with the looks for the little extra money spent.Steve
As the song says: "I'm a Sucker for a Cheap Guitar". I own over 30 – some cheap, some not so cheap. This one arrived perfectly set up: low action, no buzzing, no sharp fret edges, easy to play – amazing for a guitar in this price range. Although not great, the pickups even sounded acceptable. It's heavy, which to me means good, though not as heavy as my Gibson. It's OK-looking, but needed something to enhance it – a pickguard. I added one and it looks much better – more expensive. Instead of cutting off part of the guard to accommodate the knob as I've seen some others do, I drilled a hole big enough for the nut on the body underneath the knob to fit through the guard (see photos). Since the guard isn't much thicker than the nut, it allowed the guard to fit flush with the body and the knob to turn without any restriction of motion, and the pickguard is not butchered. It's a very clean look – like it came that way – not modified. So, I am pleased with this instrument, and would recommend it to anyone for any purpose: especially beginners to play or someone like me who just collects cheap guitars to hang on the wall of their studiio.Steve

This guitar is awesome. I was actually really surprised right out of the box how playable it was. Feel like usually when you get a new guitar you have to get it set up to really see it shine, but this thing right away is super playable. Was definitely surprised how light this thing was also, its crazy, it looks like it'd be heavy but its lighter than even my strat. (this could be a good or bad thing depending on what you want imo). It reminds me a lot of my Les Paul, but the reliability of it staying in tune right away along with it being WAY lighter has definitely impressed me. In my own personal opinion it has taken all the good things about a les paul classic and done them better. Similar price, similar tones, but doesnt have those typical gibson issues that those guitars usually come with. Highly recommend, it sounds great, plays great, and feels great. Only complaint is that they should release some better finishes. But otherwise, who cares, its awesome.Graham
The PRS DGT is an artist spec'd guitar that belongs to the McCarty linage of instruments. Studio guitarist Tim Pierce says it's the best PRS, which has also been noticed in the guitar collection of Nashville studio ace Bret Mason. This Core model is top-notch and features exquisite build quality. The pickups were prototyped 40 times and are reminiscent of a Les Paul, ES-335, and Telecaster. The five-spring vibrato bar provides a nice shimmer with the signature .11 gauge string set. The fret dress is exclusive to this model, a requirement of David Grissom. I was excited when I saw the title of this instructional DVD because I am a huge Beatles fan and a beginning guitar play. How cool to rip out some Beatles tunes with this easy to follow instructional DVD. Great disappointment!!! The instructor basically plays the song and tells you, "do what I do". Very little direction. If you are already a better than average player, this is probably fine. But, if you are already a better than average player, you would never purchase this CD. To make it worse, the seller was horrible. He has no avenue for direct feedback about his product. Would never buy anything again from derbycitymedia. This seller does not care about it's customers. Do not recommend the DVD or seller!qman6
Sadly it must be an early release for this series before they got how to do these DVD lessons worked out — a dinosaur of sorts. There is only the one track which is like watching a no frills video. In other products they have multiple views and tabs and even the ability to silence the guitar so you can play to a band. This has none of it. Only the instructor. One might find tabs around in various places on the net or in books, but one shouldn't have to go looking. In fairness, I bought mine used and it may have originally come with tabs. But I needed them. Beginners, it would be tough. It's not really in depth though it claims to be on the cover. More matter of fact. Still, there is some value to the DVD. He plays well, thus giving something to shoot for, and they're Beatles songs after all.palangorn
