I used lamp black milk paint to cover white legs of a table. After following the proper procedure prepping the table, the first coat went on streaky and did not cover. In a panic I called the manufacturer and he said that it sometimes happens and to continue. I continued to paint needing three coats of paint, lightly sanding between coats as directed. I followed up and sealed with high performance flat finish as directed. It looks terrific! The paint covered and leveled well. It’s easy to use and the finish is nice.Jan

This is my first time using milk paint. Used it on our 30+ year old bathroom cabinets. Didn't require a lot of prep (just light sanding) or even a base coat, and it covered nicely, though I don't think I would have needed as many coats had I used a base coat (I painted Snow White over those 80s orangey-brown cabinets that every tract home of that era seemed to have). It seems to level well and I am pleased with the finished result enough to use it on the cabinets in our hall bath now. Oh, one more thing, if you live in a hot, dry climate like I do (Phoenix, AZ), get the EXTENDER for this paint. You will appreciate how nicely the paint goes on with the Extender mixed in. I tried both ways — Without the Extender, it dried WAY too quickly and was a bit frustrating to apply. WITH the Extender, it went on SOOO nicely!teri

Beautiful color and smooth finish. Very easy to work with and has held up well with the recommended top coat for over a year on a child’s chair that gets occasional use. No chips or signs of wear. This was spray painted with a low pressure high volume sprayer and finished with the recommended topcoat using a Wooster “Silver Tip”brush. Also used GF black milk paint on a chest with the Silver Tip, and got good results. There is a slight texture using a brush over a spray gun. Must use a top coat for durability!Jan

I wanted to use it on my stove. When I received it I learned that it couldn't be used on something that would get hotter than 200 degrees. I'm sure my stove does. Because of this, I couldn't actually rate it, but couldn't get past the paws without marking one of them.none

I only needed a small amount of paint to touch up several marks on my refrigerator and dishwasher doors. This is just the right amount and does a good job on the repair.james

After several years of not having done any sign painting I ordered 1-Shot again to do decorative lettering on my mailbox and for several outdoor signs I am planning. I've used 1-Shot paints for over 40 years and it is the best paint made for lettering and pinstriping. It is opaque enough to cover in one coat (therefore the name). Pro-Tec Powder Paints are a simple addition to your tackle box or your gear workbench. The paint is easy to use, just heat up the lure over a gas range, heat gun, or with a lighter and dip the lure into the powder, knock off any loose powder and heat for 2 more seconds. No smell and no toxics. I recommend baking or curing the lure with 20 minutes of heat in the oven. The powder paint will add a slight bit of weight to your lure. The only real drawback that I have found is that the jars do not indicate the final color, so I have had to write on the jar what the color is. For example, I purchased the watermelon flake color and the original powder is a light green. But after dipping the heated lure, the watermelon flake color is perfectly set on my lure.Kamaki

I started painting my own jigs last summer after buying painted jigs for about 52 cents a piece. I can just buy unpainted jigheads and save 42 cents per jig by painting them myself. I use one of the old lady's tealight candles to heat the jig and the candle works GREAT! I also use hemastatic (sp.??) pliers and lock them over the eyes and have no trouble with paint covering the eyes when dipping. Got that tip from a friend that manufactures jigs and sells them worldwide. I do recommend following the instructions on baking to harden. I just took 400 jigs out of the oven last night. Not one eyelet needed to be drilled due to paint and all are identical in appearance. I hang my jigs on a broiling rack after painting them and the rack can go right into the oven, saving me the hassle of putting them in some other way. Gonna start painting eyes tonight and putting vinyl coat on. If interested, I put fine glitter in my vinyl to give the jig a little "extra". Has to be fine glitter to not over-do. Add thinner to vinyl as to not get on jighead too thick. You will not be sorry. Hope this helps.hendu51

I purchased the Chartreuse and Orange and I'm amazed how easy it can be applied. Just a note: run the jig head through a flame quickly for a few seconds and dip in the jar. Make sure you stir up the powder before each jig head you dip in it. Too much heat will melt your jig head and it will fall off the hook. After you dip it, just run it quickly again through a flame for a split second and hang to dry. It may look dull at first but once it dries, it will have a high gloss finish to it. great product I just hung jig on my oven rack and heated oven to 350 degrees for a few minutes and left in to heat up . then dipped jigs in the paint until coated. They got coated and melted the powder instantly. hung back on the oven rack to bake on finish. hard as a rock in a few minutes .I love this powder.ranger540

I have mixed feelings about the ColorShot White Primer in matte. The can states that you are to use this primer as a “base coat for a long-lasting finish” for materials such as “wood, metal, plastic, [and] crafts”. To see how this primer performed, I tested it on glass (a material NOT listed on the can), plastic, cardboard, and wood. I waited to test until I had a warm enough and dry enough day, as the instructions state that humidity should not exceed 70% and the temperature needs to be between 50-90 degrees Fahrenheit. I picked a dry day that was a toasty 54 degrees (the warmest in weeks), but once the paint set up I brought the items inside to dry, where it was 72 degrees. The directions also state that you are to shake the can for a full minute to completely mix the product, so I set a timer each time I used it. I have only used spray paint a few times, but I do know that you are not supposed to spray in heavy layers. However, my first attempts with this primer, though I thought I was using a light hand, led to runny marks on both my cardboard box and my glass, and some pooling on the plastic. Most of the paint did dry to the touch when I checked on my items 45 minutes later (the can indicates it is dry to the touch in 10 minutes and fully cures in 24 hours), but some paint still came off on my fingers where it had run down and pooled at the bottom. It did wash off of my hands after a few hand- washings, however. What surprised me was that some of the drips were still tacky, despite drying for 3 hours in 72-degree heat. I have included pictures to illustrate how the product coated. I was very disappointed with how much the product dripped, so I tried again with an even lighter spray, and was able to dust the color on and not have any drips or pooling. I found that spraying extremely lightly allowed the product to stick where it was sprayed, but you will have to be very patient in layering many light coats depending on the surface and color of what you are attempting to cover. I used two coats on my cardboard box, and though the product adhered very well, I was still able to read the barcode and writing on the box completely. It would have taken several more passes to completely cover the writing on the box. I found that the paint coated the glass very well, but I was able to scratch it off with my fingernail. I was able to do the same with the plastic top as well. (Note that instructions state that shiny surfaces should be lightly sanded, but I did not sand my plastic top because it already had a slightly textured surface; perhaps if I had sanded the plastic, my results would have been different regarding adhesion). I have included a picture to show the results and to indicate where I was able to easily scratch the paint off. My last test I decided to spray paint a tree branch. Here the primer really adhered very well. It covered the branch, and in two coats, would have coated it completely in white. I think that this primer would do very well on wood surfaces, but I would test before using on plastics to check for durability and quality adhesion of the product. I also highly recommend that you use an incredibly light hand when it comes to spraying, but with patience, dry time, and multiple passes, this primer will cover. The directions indicate that you are "to apply one light coat at a time, waiting a few minutes between coats," but elsewhere on the can it says to "recoat within 1 hour or after 24 hours," so I recommend you use your best judgement based on the color and surface type of what you are trying to paint. I do not recommend it for glass, so if you are working on a craft that requires coating glass or slick plastic, you may need to look elsewhere. The can also encourages you to spray outside or in a well-ventilated area, and I couldn’t agree more. It does have a very strong smell that did bother my asthma a little bit, even though I was outside; however, I also have very sensitive lungs, but I do encourage others to use caution.momof2

This primer has been amazing to use. The Spray is perfect to getting exactly where I need it to go. I did have to do two coats. But I think it's because I always just do a light even coat rather than a heavy one. I can't wait to try put more colors to finish the chairs I have.Ashley

I got this plain first time at home depot and it is the only paint I use til this day. It smells sweet and not toxic like other spray paint brands. The colors are rich and pigmented. It is durable and goes on smoothly, no drips. I use it to restore vintage Barbie Doll toys and other crafts. This paint is made with sugar cane unlike other brands. This paint was exactly what we needed for an at home project. Actually after sanding and priming the hood of our truck, my husband thinned this paint slightly and rolled it with a small sponge roller. After several coats I doubt that anybody would realize it was a d.i.y. project. The gloss white is a perfect match to the rest of the truck. He even used it to touch up several scratches. Regular automotive paints are crazy expensive while Rustoleum enamels can accomplish the same thing for a lot less money.Lisa

There was something wrong with this paint. I don't know if it was just old (if it can even get old), or if it had been frozen? I just don't know. I mixed the paint, according to the proffesional, at my local hardware store, but the paint took a long time to dry. Two days after painting, I took my tractor to an event. It had gotten left outside over night. The next morning, there was bubbles in the paint, and when I rubbed my finger across it, it felt like there was water under the paint. After that, It seemed like the paint had finally cured as it should and there was no more bubbles, but now there are cracks in the paint.djmichael24951david

Since Testors was sold to Rustoleum, the Testors paints have been discontinued. Buy 'em if you see 'em. Testors spray lacquer goes on easily, dries quickly, and lasts. It is my favorite spray lacquer, though now it is nearly impossible to find online at a reasonable price.Testors Fan

Fantastic paint! I really like this shade of red. When the cans arrived the caps indicating the color were and are a bit darker than I wanted. Luckily that is usually the case with spray paint. My friend used this shade/color of red on his Toro Wheel Horse and it looked great! So I ordered the 3 can deal. This color is a lot harder to find than Apple Red and many other shades. I ended up giving my 1995 Toro Wheel Horse 312-8 a fresh look. Most that have seen it said it practically looks brand new. The only trouble I had with it is that the heel of my shoe scuffed the paint. I know it's enamel and I may not have let it dry quite long enough or it's its nature. I bought the Big Project size can of Rustoleum Crystal Clear High Gloss and put a protective coat on it. When the weather dries up and the humidity leaves, I'll add more coats for thicker protection.SAAGunslinger

For the third time using their Semi-gloss Black I have had to completely strip the project. First Red Primer. First light top-coat, all is well. Few minutes later another light coat, cool. Five- ten minutes later a final heavier coat. Disaster! Paint began to Crinkle. Quickly began stripping with acetone. Previously I contacted manufacturer. Unlike prior attempts. No answer or call backs. Been told the problem is with a new California required formula that can react with their products manufactured prior to the new formula. I've been a big fan until recently. Maybe I will purchase more next time I'm out of state!don

I painted four ornate metal chairs with this for my mom and she loves them, this and three other colors with a flower theme. Shes also shown them to her freinds on sisters on the fly and they love them too. She asked me to move the chairs on her porch and put these on them, after priming, wire-brushing rust that built up after sandblasting. I used several tools to remove the rust a second time from these beautiful chairs, but Rustoleum brand paint protects like no other, and this paint seemed to last a very long time and have plenty in it. I spray a lot of things with Rustoleum, but the first can lasted longer than any spray paint Ive seen. This was a replacement for paint I'd already started, but to go on to the second chair after finshing the first was unusual. I like a coat thats tough and this is. I painted a few other things with the second can, and bought paint to match for my new building porch, I like the color so much. I havent taken any pictures yet.Nancy R.

Why it is practicly impossible to find Testor enamel paint in tiny glass jar at my Michaels store ? Since long time ago ,the shelves are practicly empty ? So, Do i have to purchase my testor paint on ebay now ? My michael store is the one at 110 boul omer-marcil in st-jean-sur-richelieu Qc J2W-2X2 . The various color paints I ordered arrived quickly, and well packaged in bubble wrap since they are in glass bottles. (about a dozen different colors and a large bottle of thinner) All the colors looked new and fresh. Ready to mix or use as I need. There was only one small jar of (rubber) colored paint that would not open with a reasonable twist, and I will have to get something grippy to try and get the lid off. So I couldnt tell from the outside if the paint was still good inside yet. Testors paints are very well known for their caps to be a real pain to remove once opened, IF you dont clean off the edge of the bottle well before closing them up again. (recommended anyway, to keep the seal and your paints from drying out during storage sooner.) Other than a single troublesome jar (in a color not used very often) I am happy with the paints. None were drying out or looked (chunky) as they might after sitting too long on a shelf with poor climate control. Though adding a few drops of paint thinned to the paint, and stirring it a bit will often restore the paint to usable form. Just don't add a lot, If you do you might have to apply more coats to get the colors looking best, or leave the mixed paint in an open bowl for a few to allow it to thicken back up a bit before applying. For my first purchase from Blick, I am very satisfied that the Testors Paints look like they should and was pleased with their fast delivery. Thank you Blick.TouchupMaster

I use this as the top color on WWII USAAF P-51B plastic models, as a substitute for Testors Model Master Olive Drab. It's Testors. This is the go to paint for all small plastic model projects requiring the use of a paint brush and many other similar applications. I used this to do lettering for a small sign. While the colour was gorgeous, this painting experience was painful and I was very dissatisfied with my project. No matter what I tried, this paint came out streaky and bumpy – even when I followed directions to a T. I used about 4 different types of paintbrushes, but the finish was never smooth and you could see every brush stroke, drip, and clump of dried paint. Next time, I would spend the extra $ and just get Annie Sloan paint instead.kdEs

Obsessed with this chalked paint! Once you give it a good stir, the consistency is great and goes on so smooth. Yep coats and your project looks amazing. It also stands really well so anytime I want to go for a more distressed look, I sand the edges and corners and it adds so much more character. It seems like I am CONSTANTLY painting something. If it isn't indoor walls or furniture, it's outdoor garden projects. This is easily a favorite paint for both indoor and outdoor projects! I originally purchased this to restore my outdoor patio sectional. LOVED IT! it was incredibly easy to cover the metal and the textured finish looked amazing! It didn't fade or chip all Summer! What really sold me, however, was its magic on my indoor furniture. I had an entryway piece that was a cheap, manufactured wood that has chipped around the edges. I was just going to throw it out but had extra paint from the patio furniture and just decided to give it a go. Wow! It covered the manufactured wood without an issue and made the piece look so much nicer/more expensive that I kept it! It was the year 2014 and I had just renovated my house. The furniture looked so filthy that I wanted to sell it but I had spent a lot of money already that I couldn't afford to buy new furniture. The kitchen cabinets were looking so ugly and dirty with marks and rust all over that I wanted to get a cover for it but my friend suggested that I get it painted instead. I asked the price to get it painted and they were charged about $30 which was too expensive and when I inquired the price of this paint, the price was so less that I thought I should paint it myself. I started paining the first cabinet and left it for 5 hours to dry and it looked really good as if it was brand new. It took me 5 days to paint all my 5 cabinets and the kitchen was looking perfect after this and whoever came to my house to see the changes I had made kept praising me for getting the cabinets painted on my own and my neighbor asked me about this metallic spray paint and herself purchased it from a nearby store. She was confused of how to use it but it's so simple that I had just to explain her the method of painting and she got her car and other furniture painted with this spray paint. It's been 2 years now and the paint is as it is. Great product.bernadette2013

great easy finish for welded projects as it effectively conceals small cosmetic defects like grinder marks. Much better than satin black. Looks as good as any factory finish and requires no primer on clean metal. When applied to worn, scratched and nicked previously painted items it's like an instant refinishing. If the old paint is well adhered and compatible (test in a small area first) this stuff is magic. Surface roughness and scratches pretty much disappear.anonymous
