The guitar is much more stunning in person. However the turning pegs came with what appears to be rust forming on them and needs to be polished with more than just a rag. My first order was not this choice of color and had an estimated ship date that date was changed as the item was placed on backorder. I contacted musicians friend and they were more than helpful. They got me back and track and delivered me a beautiful instrument well worth the money paid for it. I have bought 4 guitars from them in the past. You will be drawn to this guitar because it's both atypical and beautiful in appearance once you are captured by the grape clustered multiple sound holes as was I. It's also relatively inexpensive given its features. I found it an "economical" way to purchase the Ovation look for my collection without having to move up to the Adamas models which are three to four time more expensive. FYI,Ovation Adamas guitars remain Ovation's USA made brand (New Hartford, CT) while all other Ovations are now produced in Korea, as is the Elite, covered here. Fender music corporation, who now owns Ovation, chose this route after acquiring the company. The Elite has no sonic limits when plugged in. The Pro-Op pre-amp system features an "expressor" slider that adds or subtracts harmonic richness to the overall Elite sound. It works in conjunction with a drive dial that controls the level of expression. Along with the three band tone control and an outstanding pick up, the Elite can conjure up some enticing sounds. (I play it through a Fishman Loudbox Performer.) The neck is more akin to what you'd expect with an electric guitar (albeit a bit fatter) with a nut width of 1 5/8 inches. Nice for easier to attain bar chords but less accomdating for finger-pickers. The deep contour bowl is reasonably comfortable but plan on using a strap to hold the Elite in a comfortable position. The action out of the box is reasonable but at least in my Elite's case, could benefit from a set-up. This is not a lightning fast neck but falls within what one might expect for a mid-level acoustic guitar. As alluded to above, acoustic tone is average and in my opinion volume is somewhat subdued when compared with a similarly priced Ovation Legend that uses a standard centered round sound hole. (I own one of those as well, an older USA made model)I would not compare its acoustic tone to a high end Martin or a highend Taylor. The Ovation Elite has a sound of its own that works just fine so long as you are not expecting a rich sounding, all wood, Martin Dreadnaught. Again, the Elite comes to life when plugged into a sweet sounding acoustic amplifier. All things considered, I've no regrets on the purchase and the Elite looks beautiful when not being played,hanging on the wall. Guitar art work, if you will…. Over and OutMarty
The finish was good although there were some rough spots on the neck. The was a small separation of the body between the top and the bottom. However it was easily fixed with some superglue. The keys worked fine, but the strings were really old. Just a slight bow in the neck that was easily adjusted. The guitar sounds great.cuevas533

Up for your consideration is my mid 1970s ovation deacon 12 string guitar, natural finish, in very fine condition (the slightest finish loss at the edge of the headstock is the only flaw i can find). ovation engineered full range hum bucking pick ups. fet preamp for full wide range sounds with band rejection filter and volume compensated on all controls. all controls are isolated in the circuitry so that changes in volume or amplifier impedance have no effect on the tone control. (see photo of tone control settings i had on a breadwinner) these were the first production guitars with active electronics. ohsc in very good condition. this example plays and sounds fantastic with a beautiful wide fingerboard suitable for 12 string playing. great stage axe. hangs beautifully. designed to also be played while seated. i've had 6 of these 12 strings (see photo). this is the nicest. s/h $100 us only

(john budny, from ovation told me approx 50) the scale length is a comfortable 24 3/4. very little to no wear on the frets and ebony fretboard the guitar plays beautifully. the ergonomic body shape straps on and hangs nicely. most evidence dings etc from incorrect stands back in the day. this piece survives with no such dings. i've had 3 blue breadwinners and am finally selling the best of the bunch. s/h $100 us only
