Loved the look, price, sound, and feel of this guitar. Tried it out in the store and was ready to buy the floor model, but luckily I asked for a 9V battery to test the electronics at the counter. Oddly the battery port fits fine into the guitar when empty, but the moment you put a battery in it it will not stay shut and pops open rendering your electronics useless. Me and the sales rep at the front figured this was had to be a fluke and he ordered a new one to be delivered to my house. Four days later it arrived. I played it for about an hour out of the box without issue (set up was great, sounded great acoustic) and then I decied to check the electronics. Sure enough, the exact same issue occured when I tried to fit a 9V in the battery port. When a battery was actually in it, it would not stay shut. No tuner, no electronics. Ten minutes later I was back at my local GC. The tech inspected it an came to the same conclusion as I did after trying 5 different brand batteries to see if that made a difference- it's defective. He recommended I return it and try another product. In short it plays nice, sounds nice, and looks nice but if it happened on 2 guitars it has to be happening on more of them. I'm sure you could duck tape it or find a way to keep it closed but this should not be an issue on a $350+ guitar. 3 stars.Ryan

I ordered this instrument as I was curious as to how I'd get along with 12 strings, and to see if it would be worth future investment. I've ordered and played an Epiphone EJ-200 before and was surprised by the brilliant quality I was getting for such a low cost, so on this occasion I followed Epiphone again for my foray into 12 string playing. The instrument is well crafted for the price point with only a few small QC issues slipping through, but nothing I can't live with. I was hoping for a larger sound as the small dreadnought body doesn't quite articulate as well as a bigger instrument would. It's got that jangle sound you want, although it feels like it's a little suppressed with the mahogany build and body shape & size. That being said, the instrument handles very well, and for me it was an easy adaption to play with the much thicker and wider neck. It holds tuning well and was set up pretty nicely – I didn't have to make any adjustments out of the box. For a first 12 string I'd recommend this above most others at the price point.
This is my Long Term Review. I have had this guitar for a bit over two years now and can give a more complete picture of it. First, the good. This is a very well made guitar. Under the pros, you will notice I mentioned Good Construction. This is particularly important in a 12 string. The biggest issue with all 12's is that they tend to come apart very quickly. You will have bowing, warping, separation of glueing, etc. All this is because of the tremendous extra pressure 12's suffer. After 2+ years, this guitar is still solid as a rock, and I leave it strung all the time. So I would say construction and bracing are very good on this instrument. Along with this is the fact that it Stays In Tune. This is another major issue with all 12's. Again, that extra force tends to make them go out of tune quickly. This one holds tune very well, and that is important as tuning a 12 takes some time. As for sound, I would say Not too Bad overall, and Really Good for an budget level guitar. It is a little thin for my taste, but there are ways around that. First, throw on a set of decent strings. I prefer Martin Marquise on mine, but personal choice. Second, I like to play through an acoustic amp, and I put a Seymour Ducan Woody on mine. When adjusted correctly, I can get a really decent, full bass sound, lots of body and still keep a nice jangle expected from a 12. Will it sound like a Martin or Gibson, no, but it gives a really nice sound for such a low price. As for the negatives, very few. First, keep in mind when Epiphone says "Select Spruce Top," they really mean laminated, not solid. But I suppose there varying qualities of laminated woods as well, and this one is great – really good resonance and sustain. It could maybe do with a better set of tuners, but as said before, it holds tune exceptionally well. Overall, for the price, Epiphone makes a really nice and playable guitar. Now am just praying they come out with a Masterbilt version of it.kdw
As usual with AMS, my order process was very easy,. The order arrived exactly when it was supposed to. However that’s when it all went South….! Exited to see and play my new 12 string, I unboxed it’s and sat down to play it. There was a single string in tune, not a one. A first I might add from AMS. I spent the rest of the day attempting to tune the guitar, although I never did. The tuners were difficult to turn, as if there was a bind of some type. I would get the note close only to have it go flat or sharp. I never was able to get it right. I called a friend of mine who’s been playing over 50 years and he was unable to get it in tune as well. Unfortunately I did return it to AMS, without issue. I must add, I have 2 other Epiphone guitar, electric and acoustic and they both came out of the box nearly perfect. I have never had a negative issue with AMS, and even the call to Customer Service was very positive and the agent could not have been nicer and even apologetic. I’m guessing this was just a lemon, but for now I’m going to do a little more research before I decide which 12 string I order, at this particular price point.

Ok so it's Chinese made, but this is why it does not cost 1500. The build quality is good, the setup out of the box was great. Low action and easy to play, even accounting for wider than standard 6 string neck. ( And I don't have long fingers) The electrics work great and the hidden nature of controls is cool, if you don't want a big hole cut in the side of your guitar. Solid woods throughout, with great finish. Weakest point is the tuners, but it holds tune well for a 12 string, which in itself is unheard of!jacol-431
I've wanted a Guild 12-string since college, over over 40 years ago. Back then I had a Lyle Hummingbird clone 12-string, which sounded okay (laminated body, spruce top, Japanese manufacture.) Before I left college I also bought a Guild G-37, blonde, arch back 6-string. I still have both guitars. I loved the sweet, well balanced tone of the G-37, but could never afford one of their 12-strings to mate up with it. Fast forward to now – haven't played any of my guitars in several years, and wanted to get back into it. With the Westerly Collection, a 12 string was now affordable, and all the reviews and videos convinced me that this was the time! My new F2512E Deluxe arrived the other day, and it's stunning! Flawless finish, precision inlays, and oh that tone! Just like the tone of some of my favorite artists from the folk era, like John Denver. Can't wait to try Rocky Mountain High on this baby, but I'll also be learning or relearning some more contemporary tunes as well. Thanks Guild for making an affordable but terrific sounding 12!Mike
Bought this guitar to add to my acoustic collection. For this price my exoectations were low as I own a Martin, Gibson, Ovation Elite and Yamaha Transacoustic all which cost considerbly more so I was abslutely blown away by this guitar. It came perfectly setup out of the box with nice low action-no adjustment needed. The glossy sunburst finish over the flamed maple back and sides is absolutely beautiful-the top and is matched spruce and the back is matched flamed maple. Beautiful shimmery sound and the pickup sounds great plugged into my deluxe reverb amp. The satin neck finish is smooth and the frets are smooth and polished. The quality of this guitar is outstanding-I could not find a flaw in its material or construction anywhere. Nice bright maple jumbo guitar that I am glad I purchased. Don't let the price point and the made in China sticker scare you away-this guitar holds its own against my Martin HD-35, Gibson hummingbird and my other acoustic guitars. I bought a gator jumbo case to keep it safe and the ase fits nicely.DWB

I have always preferred 12-string guitars to six strings and still have my original Martin 12 string. Eight years ago however, the neck split at the base, so I put her back in her case and in the closet. Even though I couldn't play her, I wouldn't part with her in hopes that someday I could have her repaired. The reality however, was that it would cost more to repair her than to buy a new one… so I begin searching for her replacement. I'm disabled now and on a fixed income and can no longer afford an expensive replacement… So after doing my research, I decided on the Oscar Schmidt. I consider the price a great deal., I love the fit and finish, black cherry color, tone and action. No adjustments were necessary and I was playing it within seconds of tuning it. Unboxed it looked nice. But after checking the guitar over and especially the neck I notice that after the 17th fret it slanted toward the sound hole. This is something that quality control should have caught. After checking with my straight edge and all the proper measurements (adjusting the truss rod and proper tuning), I decided to keep the guitar and not return it. This will be my last over the web order. Although the guitar plays well and sounds ok after the adjustments, it's not worth the chance of receiving another defective guitar…. I needed an inexpensive guitar for my son Craig. After exhausting hours of shopping & looking for just "the right one"- we came across this one from Stagg. Craig really liked the way it looked and I liked the price- so we got it. We have had this guitar for two weeks now and since then he hasn't been able to put it down. We have a guitar amp that my husband used to use (back in the day)- so my son could "plug in". The guitar sounds great through the amp. My son LOVES plugging this guitar in. Craig had his first guitar lesson last night and his Stagg Guitar fared really well. His teacher was impressed with the guitar and said its intonation is great and it "tunes well" (not 100% sure what all of that means but it sounded great). I just bought a carry bag for this guitar today (at the request of our teacher) and now feel completely sure that this guitar was a perfect buy for us. Hope this review helps. It took some effort to dial in this guitar. Before my purchase, I had read about some manufacturing flaws and in deed, this guitar had them. Most notably, the ends of the frets were razor sharp and needed to be filled down. I also had a problem with the 7th tuning key breaking the string. It broke 3 strings before I swapped the #7 and #8 strings on their tuning keys. I didn't have any other tuning issues after that, but it did cost me three sets of strings. I also had issues with the tuning display, which required me to take it apart 20x, but managed to get it dialed in and working. The reality is, for the price, it's hard to beat. If you have a little bit of skill, you can dial this guitar in and once it's there, it's great. The intonation is good, the sound quality is great, play-ability is great, once it's in tune, it stays in tune, once the tuner issue was worked out, the tuner has worked great since. It showed up without a mark on it, the woodworking, inlays, body and neck construction is good.cronkauctions

Excellent finish and detail and good sound. It stayed in tune as well , after some tuning and stretching of the new strings, which is normal. Ive never seen a high dollar big name guitar that looks more impressive in its finish. I am a professional player…… The neck was the widest of any 12 string I have ever played and the frets are farther apart. I have large hands for a man and I was able to play it ok. But extending your fingers on some cords was a max effort for me, but workable. I definitely would not recommend this guitar for anyone with smaller hands. I returned this guitar only because of a factory oversight in gluing down the Bridge properly. The rear of the Bridge was not glued at all 3/4 the length of the Bridge , and underneath it , even underneath past the bridge pins. The factory would have repaired this defect for free (minus shipping) as it has a limited lifetime factory warranty. But it was a safety issue as well , as that Bridge might break loose from the guitar body anytime and hit the guitar player. Other than that , I had to adjust the Truss Rod slightly as the strings were a little high toward the guitars main body, which isn't abnormal for a new guitar. That was easy and quick. YouTube will show you how make Truss Rod adjustments , if you don't know how. Its very simple…… I returned it only because of the Bridge defect. For today's money its worth taking a chance on ordering it. Walmart offers the best price and easy return to your local store if it has a defect. I do recommend it highly , and Walmart. The reason I didn't order a replacement, is because Walmart was out of stock on this item. I purchased this guitar for a different sound. I have had a dozen guitars before and currently have a Cort Gold O6 and Fender Vintera Modified 50s Tele which I love for different reasons. After trying a Taylor Academy 12e-N, which had a great sound but I didn't life the feel of the shorter 12 fret neck, I picked up my first one of these. Build and sound was great, but I had a lifted fret (#12) which buzzed. I tried to press it back in myself, but no luck so I'm guessing something swelled in the neck after the frets were leveled, crowned, and polished. I sent it back for an exchange.Jay

Sound: In regards to “sound” “presence” this pretty girl has enough for the price; in fact, it rings most crisp at the high end with nice low end presence for it’s size. Plugged in, it is actually expectable for strumming and picking! It’s size is just awesome for living room small studio or patio sessions (actually, I have laid down some sweet tracks using this well rounded acoustic) The electronics are acceptable enough- though I am going to upgrade mine because I do use it constantly. The Soft case is very nice and durable. My ONLY knock, the string holes/bridge assembly, cedar non-pin; the eyes of the strings are beginning to stress the inlets “widening them” due to the steel recessing the wood; the eyelets literally seated against it. This is a miner issue and a commonly used one. It makes stringing the the Breedlove most easy and quick, no pins popping with sting winding- This is definitely a most awesome beginners acoustic-it is definitely far more guitar for the money; however. If it’s a impulse thing-all of a sudden wanting to learn and play guitar- or young beginners- wrong guitar! There are far better values in the 150.00 to 200.00 dollar range, decent and not as much of an investment if the “fire” “urge” burns out becoming closet/attic clutter or family room/bedroom decor! I bought this guitar to check out a budget friendly offering from Yamaha. I have to say I was not disappointed! Excellent tone and volume, the top really resonates. The guitar was really well setup right out of the box. It needed about 3/4 of a clockwise truss rod adjustment, no prob. Other than that it didn't need any fret dressing whatsoever. That's really impressive for a Chinese guitar. Heck even one of my Mexican Martins needed fret dressing out of the box! Also intonation was spot on and this also is important in your guitar. Very impressed with this guitar, intermediate/advanced feel but priced at a beginner budget. You won't regret picking one up, I assure you!Big Bone Murphy
There is a point of quality when an instrument reaches when it stops being seen as "better or worse" but rather just a different flavor. This Yamaha has reached that point. You can play it alongside a guitar costing 5x more and it stands up well. Yamaha is also one of those rare companies with a long history of top quality across all kinds of products, and guitars are an area Yamaha knows well. This is just a beautiful guitar through and throughout. You can get beautiful uncompromisingly great studio recordings with this guitar. I've owned many acoustics over the years, MANY, and this Yamaha is one of the best sounding I've ever owned. Went to GC just to check out a few lower end acoustics to pick up for jamming on, and tried almost every one in the room. Picked this one up last just before I was ready to leave, and immediately was blown away by the sound and playability, brought a couple friends to listen and tell me which one they thought sounded the best, and hands down this won over all of them. It has the tone and warmth of a Martin D34, which I have owned a few, and it plays like a dream. The neck is so sliky smooth, easy to fly up and down with no effort. It has amazing sustain and beautiful tone, I fell in love with it and just couldn't put it down. I didn't expect a guitar of this price range to sound as good as it does, got it home and I couldn't put it down. Played for 4 hours straight, and even after trying to put it down to go to bed at 1am I found myself playing a for a few more minutes before I could actually go to sleep. Love this Yamaha more than any guitar I've bought in the last decade. The best thing about it is, It gave me the desire to pick up playing guitar again, after hardly touching any of my other guitars for almost a year it's the one I want to play more than all of them. Having relatively recently started learning guitar on an electric stratocaster-style guitar this was a great transition to the acoustic segment. The thinner body makes it much more comfortable to play than say a dreadnought and the neck is comfortable to transition too, yet the guitar doesn't seem to sacrifice as much sound as you'd expect from a thinner guitar. The finish of the guitar is that of a more expensive guitar for example the rosewood finger board. On arrival I actually thought the guitar looked better than the pictures on the website suggest but do note that because of the finish it is prone to showing finger marks which would need cleaning time to time. After suffering a permanent back injury I could no longer play my elictric guitar as it was too heavy or my acoustic electric guitar because it felt like it was twice it's normal size because I could no longer find a comfortable position for myself to play it. I bought a keyboard thinking that I could still play music. Afterv two weeks of playing around with the keyboard I gave up pllaying. Then I saw on the internet one night an advertisement for a 3/4 size Yamaha acoustic electric guitar guitar with a slimline bosy which looked like a nice guitar so I checked out males and females playing it and sounded very nice so I bought one. Man am I'm so glad I did. I got the sunburst like this one on sale. I was excited as l took it out of the box and went straight to my mancave and started playing it. It was perfecty in tune and for a guitar of this size it's got such a beautiful tone playing ACOUSTIC. So I plugged it in and it's as good as it sounded on YouTube. As an 67 yesr old man who started playing guitar when I was 16 years old, this is a beauty. The only thing I'm not entirely happy with is the action. It's just a little too high. Other than that, I love it. It's a very nice looking acoustic for the money. It stays in tune extremely well and I was shocked at how full the sound was even with such a thin body. Sounds even better plugged in. The thinner body is super comfortable to handle and hold. It makes the transition from electric to acoustic very easy. The built in tuner is one of my favorite features. It works great and seems to be as accurate as any other tuner I've ever used. Overall, I would recommend this acoustic to anyone on a budget looking for a great sounding and feeling acoustic who doesn't mind the action a little on the higher side. (Side Note – I might be too critical on the action since I'm used to my electrics set up for such low action.)

Overall, I'd say that I'm very happy with the guitar. It plays well, and it sounds great. I had to tweak it a bit, though. It had a respectable amount of bow in the neck when I received it. I've torqued most of it out, but I have the truss rod tightened as far as I dare to. The action is still a bit high at the 12th fret, but I'll take care of that when I change out the strings. It sounds very chimey and bright with no bottom end at all, hopefully a beefier set of strings will help with that. Skinny frets, I wish they were a bit more robust. String spacing (between pairs) isn't consistent between the nut and the bridge, I may notch the bridge a bit to eliminate that. Otherwise, it's a beautifully built guitar and a great value for the price. You won't be disappointed.
I had a cheap 12 string guitar for about almost two years. I had been playing corridos during this time. However, I had played guitar for several years. Mainly rock and other stuff. Well, after I got it, I could play all the solos I couldn't really play clean. I guess the other guitar really was bad, or this one is great. Funny thing, I had a really good player tell me to not buy this model but the more expensive one. Well, I'm glad I decided to go with this one. This guitar sounds great and it's extremely easy to play. The guitar stays in tune fairly well for a 12 string guitar. The action is low. I haven't tried it the electronics aside from the tuner which works fairly well compared to my snark. I do have a Taylor and Martin guitar, and the tone on this guitar is pretty clean.Juan
This Guitar plays like a dream, sounds great no matter if it is plugged in or not, stays in tune and looks great. This is a great price for a guitar of this quality, but thanks to another dealers daily deal and Guitar Center's price matching, it was even better. I was able to get this out of layaway for $240 less. I am very happy with this guitar. I have not played in a band for a while, but getting back into practice and plan to start back with some solo acoustic gigs. Having this awesome new guitar is surely an inspiration to help me want to practice more.Kip

Just got this guy….interesting guitar. some of the stock description is incorrect, the nut is steel or stainless steel and sits in a weird half fret area above the first fret (I have an old meazzi guitar with the same arrangement. the saddle is plastic and sits in a metal u shaped holder that you can adjust the height with the supplied alan key, handy, don't have to remove the saddle to lower the action. overall the thing is heavy and well built. had some work getting it playable though, it tuned up easy enough but there was that weird twang on the B string, usually tweeking the truss rod cures that, but it didn't, raising and lowering the saddle didn't fix it, changing the straight plastic saddle to a compensated plastic saddle didn't help either…..maybe one of the upper frets? got a little frustrating, then I decided to just change the strings, usually the first thing to do with a 300.00 guitar and that was that, no twang, weird, but this is an Italian guitar company (not to be racist, I'm Italian) so anyway, the fishman electronics are adequate, not a big fan of sound hole mounted controls but fortunately the 9 volt battery is located at the bottom of the lower bout next to the 1/4" jack as apposed to some guitars with a velcroed holder buried inside the guitar. this guitar is a strummer for sure and after I beat it up at home for awhile I'll do a gig with it.Nick
I took a chance and purchased it sight unseen because it was on sale and the most interesting (to me) in its price range. Color isn't as solidly orange-looking as in the photo. The grain is still visible. Logo on the headstock is a three-d decal, not inlay. Guitar is pretty heavy, too. The bridge is easy to adjust, which was useful, considering there was some fret buzz in the set up. After some tweaking and new strings, it's turned out to be a nice guitar.Manuel

Overall, I'd say that I'm very happy with the guitar. It plays well, and it sounds great. I had to tweak it a bit, though. It had a respectable amount of bow in the neck when I received it. I've torqued most of it out, but I have the truss rod tightened as far as I dare to. The action is still a bit high at the 12th fret, but I'll take care of that when I change out the strings. It sounds very chimey and bright with no bottom end at all, hopefully a beefier set of strings will help with that. Skinny frets, I wish they were a bit more robust. String spacing (between pairs) isn't consistent between the nut and the bridge, I may notch the bridge a bit to eliminate that. Otherwise, it's a beautifully built guitar and a great value for the price. You won't be disappointed.
I had a cheap 12 string guitar for about almost two years. I had been playing corridos during this time. However, I had played guitar for several years. Mainly rock and other stuff. Well, after I got it, I could play all the solos I couldn't really play clean. I guess the other guitar really was bad, or this one is great. Funny thing, I had a really good player tell me to not buy this model but the more expensive one. Well, I'm glad I decided to go with this one. This guitar sounds great and it's extremely easy to play. The guitar stays in tune fairly well for a 12 string guitar. The action is low. I haven't tried it the electronics aside from the tuner which works fairly well compared to my snark. I do have a Taylor and Martin guitar, and the tone on this guitar is pretty clean.Juan
This Guitar plays like a dream, sounds great no matter if it is plugged in or not, stays in tune and looks great. This is a great price for a guitar of this quality, but thanks to another dealers daily deal and Guitar Center's price matching, it was even better. I was able to get this out of layaway for $240 less. I am very happy with this guitar. I have not played in a band for a while, but getting back into practice and plan to start back with some solo acoustic gigs. Having this awesome new guitar is surely an inspiration to help me want to practice more.Kip

Sound: What more do you want at this price point with free shipping. Well built, sounds good.Fishman MX electronics, already installed heel joint strap button, Tusq saddle and nut and bridge pins. Overall: Nice guitar. I can easily tell the difference between this model which I just bought, here, from a USA made one: then again one could buy a few of these ones for the starting price of a new USA made Martin 12 string.Very nice gig bag. Well constructed. First off ! I highly recommend this 12 string to everyone! i have now owned this guitar for almost a year now. Before I bought this Martin dx2e I shopped around and went to a bunch of different guitar stores to compare different brands and see the difference. I was after a really good full sound with no string noise , I definitely did not want a lament top and real wood sound that would appreciate more and more in time. I compared a taylor, and it was great but the price was a little crazy, for what was afforded I didn’t care what brand of guitar i was going to choose, all that mattered to me was the tone and feel , I tried a guild 12 string and again it was really nice as well but I found it had a lot of mid high tones . Again I was looking for a certain sound that would cater to my own sound, style and feel . After shopping around I chooses this Martin DX2e for its great natural sound and the feel , the price was definitely unbeatable and I still can’t believe how good this guitar sounds! Amazing guitar! The next big factor was now where to buy it , Sam ash? Guitar center ? I found American musical “AMS” was amazing to purchase this Martin from, it showed up in just 2/3 days protected and the customer service was unbelievable! I love this guitar and love AMS and again I highly recommend this guitar you will not be disappointed! Thank you AMS for making my decision easy and effortless !
I recently purchased my Martin DX2E 12 string from AMS and I love it. I purchased my Martin GCE16 about a year ago from AMS and I have never heard of them before this. I tried to order the same guitar from Guitar Center and it come in damaged, so I returned it. I then tried to order the same guitar from Musicians friend. The online site said it was in stock. I even paid for 2 day delivery, but it never showed up. After 2 weeks I called and they told me the guitar was out of stock. They also told me they should of called or emailed but they don't know why they didn't.(TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM MUSICIANS FRIEND).This is when I found AMS. I called AMS and they were VERY helpful and easy to deal with. I ordered my VERY FIRST MARTIN GUITAR from AMS and have been very pleased. A huge thank you to the team for my wonderful VSA500 Walnut. Particularly to John who I dealt with for the majority of the process who's a credit to RGuitars. There was a delay to my order, at the fault of the supplier, however John was very helpful resolving any queries I had. I played the guitar both before and after setup as I live locally so had the luxury of visiting during the order process. The work Chris does on the guitars is excellent and I walked away with a guitar to fit my budget that I was confident in. It plays a treat. Richard made me feel welcome in the new workshop, took the time to talk to me about my guitar and show me around. Overall my experience was excellent. Guitar was well set up on arrival, however it had a lacquer crack on the back of the neck that possibly occurred in transit. Jack socket was loose. Volume pot not tightened and spinning enough to have broken solder on wire. Offered discount or exchange. Accepted refund and fixed pot and socket myself, applying serrated washers that should have been present during assembly. These issues should really have been noticed during inspection and/or set up. Fret ends not very well dressed. I did this myself, but you need to be experienced to do so. I now have a £379 guitar (bought for £290 after the refund) that sounds and plays like a considerably more expensive one and has a very good sunburst finish, but was a bit disappointed by the issues that should have been caught at some point. Also disappointed that I had to chase the refund after 10 days.William D.
