I have been playing for 15 years and teaching guitar for over a year, and this book really sticks out as my favorite. Why? It has a fun selection of music with more rock and pop type of music than most, plus most of your older beginner classics. Most of the other books teach old folk music, etc. which always seemed lame to me. Plus, it has a fun and cheerful writing style and good illustrations. It has a logical progression from note reading melodies, and as the dexterity increase over time, it starts adding chords, plus the rock power chords which most leave out. I recommend getting the one with the CD to help figure out a few of the tricky tunes included, but most are really logical and easy to figure out. Most of all, find a local guitar teacher to help you put it all together and to keep you from developing bad habits, and to have a routine to help you get through that first year. Also, have an experienced musician help you pick out a decent guitar; there is so much awful sounding junk out there these days that will make a real musician want to quit, but do the best you can if that is all you have, and start saving up. Play on the tips of your fingers and keep the thumb behind the neck to develop good playing techniques that will be important later on as you progress. Get thebook; it's as good as they come!zzz333

This is a great visual to display the notes on the fretboard and I'm satisfied with it overall. However, it would be awesome if the company provided exercises to go along with this product. For people who aren't already somewhat familiar with the fretboard or music theory, it's still extremely easy to get lost or to not know where to begin to try to memorize note location. Maybe even something as simple as explaining the 7 notes and their sharps and minors, which notes don't have sharps, etc. I know this company now offer lessons for an additional cost, but I feel if you purchase this product, a simple fretboard practice/game app or some sort of direction should be made available. The can be found online at no cost. I ended up searching for a fretboard trainer as an aide to this product.Ashlee

The stickers come in 4 on 3 separate sheets. One of the sheets I could not separate the stickers from and was forced to cut with a razor blade to get off. Now the stickers are all jagged up and peeling off the fretboard cosing fret buzz. Besides that they are allowing me to memorise the fretboard effectivelyand find new avenues for lines and chordformation but because of the fretboard buzzand how ugly those stickers look can only rate 2 stars.Zack
