Mighty To Save Electric Guitar For Sale (2024 Update)

A lot of the reviews posted here are for Strats, so I'm not sure what's going on. Anyway, I bought the red sparkle Squier Bullet Tele. The finish is gorgeous and that's what prompted me to do a spontaneous purchase. I have only experienced owning USA Teles, but I've played some Squiers that really impressed me. This one? Not so much. I don't detect any finish on the back of the neck although I'm sure it has a sealer of some sort. The body finish is nice, but the bridge hardware is cheaply made and I'll be replacing that for sure. Same goes for the tuners. I'm pretty sure it has some high frets because it goes dead starting at the 10th fret, but some of that was back bow. I loosened the truss and got rid if it, but now when I sight down the neck the forward bow is pretty obvious. I don't notice the frets being sharp on the ends. It now plays plays pretty good after sitting long enough for the truss Rod to settle, but I may need to tighten it just a little to get rid of some of the forward bow. The neck has a very comfortable profile. The body is thinner than my American Teles, but it doesn't bother me – in fact it's lighter which I enjoy. The body is Poplar and that's fine by me. I may leave the back of the neck alone for now because it actually feels pretty good, aesthetics are certainly lacking, but the body makes up for that. I'm sure with a little patience and help from my friends I'll have a nice instrument. All the basics are there. As is, it's not all that great, but still better than my first electric guitar! -!an old Kalamazoo single pickup thing with a bolt on neck back in the mid sixties. I bought my black metallic Squier Bullet eight years ago when GC was having a Columbus Day sale. I was looking for a guitar to which I could permanently mount my Roland GR-33 guitar synth's GK2a pickup. Previously I had the pickup mounted on my '96 Strat, and I didn't like this fit because I couldn't close my Strat's case with the pickup installed. I have a gig bag for this Squier, and it fits fine in the bag with pickup installed. Anyway, about the guitar. Right out of the box, it played great, requiring only a minimal amount of action adjustment. I was surprised at how good the pickups sounded, it being a Bullet and all. But the humbucker sounds especially nice when playing the guitar through my Marshall. The neck pickup has a decent sound, but not quite up to the snuff of a good alnico pickup. Still, for what the guitar cost, I really can't complain. If I want to, at some later date, I can always change out the neck pickup to a better alnico model. One thing I especially like about this black Bullet is its looks. The photos here at GC don't show it off all that well, but the guitar body's finish is metallic and the pickguard is a heavy metal flake. It looks spectacular under the lights. And the black hardware does a great job of completing that black look. The Bullet's body is thinner than a typical Strat or Squier Affinity or Classic Vibe body. The result is a light weight guitar, but there is no sacrifice in tone.Michael

I would first like to begin with- I normally would be giving a 5 star rating of this unit/Squier, as I have typically never had problems prior to the recent/earlier this year upset regarding shipping containers/etc being paused/sitting in the ocean/etc, delaying container delivery. PLEASE READ ON FOR FULL EXPLANATION. Two imperative points- 1. The fret ends were so sharp, when I say it was not playable (both sides/neck in its entirety), I mean, it was not playable (THE DATE OF INSPECTION WAS EARLIER THIS YEAR, AND I IMMEDIATELY ASSOCIATED THE FRET ENDS PROBLEM BEING DUE TO THE SHIPS BEING DELAYED/SITTING IN THE OCEAN/ETC- It looked to me like maybe between March and July of this year, although, I couldn't quite make out the stamped month). As well, the serial # of the guitar, of course, was of this year/'22. I maintain/work on most all my guitars, and I normally would've tightened up the fret ends myself, however, there was a hairline crack on the red sparkle finish at the bass side neck joint (which i just couldn't accept, visually), as well as a small tooling gash along the top edge of the headstock. The replacement/reordered guitar arrives tomorrow. 2. THE NEWER UNITS (AS, ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS A 2022-BUILT UNIT) ARE TOP-MOUNT/STRING THROUGH THE BACK OF THE BRIDGE, NOT "STRING-THRU" as the description indicates (and, with Squier bridge mounting, these are 5-screw mount plates, which, if ever you want to upgrade your hardware, particularly, w/the bridge, you must find an aftermarket unit that is "string through the back", along w/the correct string spacing (with Squier, they're 54mm, typically), and you'll typically need to redrill given it's rare to find plates that have Squier mounting dimensions that provided string through the back holes. I'm upgrading to a Babicz, given the results found. Also, there are two string trees (the second being a tree for both the D and G strings), and it looks great, actually, with both. Overall, I was impressed with the finish, as it was nearly flawless (aside from the hairline finish crack mentioned previously). The fretwire/fretwork, felt great….I found maybe two or so "slight" dead spots, which weren't enough of a "ping", or string buzz to be of concern, or critiquing the fretwork negatively. Rather, I was impressed with the fretwork. As well, it's important to note that the mounting of the bridge, along with the neck positioning/etc, was spot-on. No misalignment of the bridge mount/etc (and the same goes for the nut spacing). I've always been impressed with what Fender/Squier/Jackson are putting out. The quality is typically quite high…as for this unit, the quality is high, but the results of the environmental dilemma with either being stuck in a container offshore, or, sitting in a facility for weeks/months/etc, have had quite the impact on this guitar. As an important example, I had purchased a Bullet Tele last year (the unit in Burst color offered here through MF), and it was/is flawless, and I completely upgraded every part. As I own approx'ly 53 guitars ranging primarily from ESP to Jackson (some of which in the better than $2K range), I love to take what's titled as a "beginner" guitar, and totally hotrod it with high end parts (such is the case w/this guitar). As mentioned above, I've reordered the guitar, as MusiciansFriend provided me a generous discount (without having to ask) to accommodate me. Upgrades- 1. Babicz Full Contact Tele "Ashtray" bridge Gold, 2. Genuine Fender Gold control plate, 3. Fender Infinity Gold strap locks, 4. Gold input jack Ferrule, 5. Custom built Gold Sparkle w/star cut-outs Tele pickguard, 6. Philadelphia Luthier Tools "Fat" neck plate/Gold w/gold neck mounting screws, 7. Earvana compensated nut (Ivory), 8. I have 37 years of Music/guitar playing experience and I am blown away by this delay. Ive have many high dollar delays but this little green box by tone city is rock solid. Literally its heavy and well built. Its amazing how well this lil green box sounds. For its tiny size it packs in a lot of gr8 sound. Tone city hit it out of the park with this one. Ill have to try more if their pedals.whateve24

I own several cigar box guitars – some I built – some I bought – usually fretted four strings that I mando tune. I wanted a three string for slide – I liked that this had a disk with a slide technique lesson. I was more than pleased – as an instrument, it's as good as most any CBG – they are all pretty crude at best. This one was easy to assemble – holds tune – sounds good acoustic or electric. There were some comments on it not using an actual cigar box, but a factory-made stylized resonator box. While this is true, it is at least as good as a cigar box, and I can understand why they broke that way for consistency and ease of build (which as I said, was super easy). Aesthetically, most people would probably prefer a real cigar box, but come on – it's like a uke – cheesy is part of the shtick. The lesson is good – play along CD and a book – comes with a good glass slide. I recommend it – worth the list price – all the better with the discounts.JoeFromSD

This is a great way to learn slide guitar. It is small & easy to learn. The book is full of great info. The CD is great, with back tracks, A tuning track so you do not need to buy a tuner, as long as you have something to play the CD in. It would be a good idea to buy a cheep tuner. As far as the price you just can't beat it. You can buy one for any wear from under $20.00 to $59.95. you just have to look around for a good price. Even at $30.00 to $ 40.00 is well worth it. The sound of the guitar very good and a small amp helps the sound but is not a must. Also you can take this any ware. In all this is a great product and was well thought out. Plus it is just fun to play!!handcuff123

I wanted a three string cigar box guitar and between a black friday discount and backstage pass points, I couldn't pass this up. Some reviewers complain that it's cardboard but domestic cigar boxes are predominantly cardboard. Also, Fender recently built a cardboard Strat that couldn't be told from a "real" Strat in a blind test. Build time was about ten minutes. I ran the strings around the tuners contrary to the directions so the string paths were straight. Sounds great acoustic and also great amplified. The only thing lacking is markers on the side of the neck. Maybe not sturdy enough for roughneck kids but a good introduction to the cigar box genre. Nice slide included.Mike

I was impressed from the moment I hooked this small tabletop amp up. It’s got big sound for such a small package. The app is decent too, but could use some more songs to jam with. I think that overall this is a fun way to work on your music late at night or when the mood and inspiration hits. It’s loud, but not so much as it would bug any neighbors or house guests. I use it just as a Bluetooth speaker as well to jam out to my favorite tunes. I would highly recommend this little beast of an amp for its tight bass response and it’s amazing functionality. Good for busking and practice with nice tones. The wireless and drums are nice features . Good size for traveling and no need for outlet with rechargeable battery. The jam tracks and artist's songs are limited but you can stream any songs you want via Bluetooth. The price was reasonable as well.Doug

I really feel like this is the best bang for your buck. I know that it's built in Korea but man this guitar feels and plays like a US build! The roasted maple neck, radius, fret work, and action are all perfect right out of the box. Another huge plus is the locking tuners and the pickups! These pickups are amazing and will cover any type of music you play. These pickups have similar output levels so you don't get that drastic change in volume when switching positions! 10/10 would recommend for someone who is looking for a premium guitar.Christian

Own a ton of guitars including high-end Fenders and Gibsons. Bought the Reverend on a whim and am really surprised how nice this guitar is. The fit and finish (especially the neck feel) is right up there with most USA more expensive guitars. Not only does the neck feel very finished and smooth but the profile and fretboard and a joy to play… better than my USA Strat! Tones from the guitar and pickups are excellent and manage to be warm and bright at athe same time. Plays like a Strat and has great geometry and high fret access. Tuners are great and comes with roller saddles and string tree. Stays perfectly in tune and is light and resonant. Could be my new favorite guitar. This is not the new guitar fascination… this is a great guitar. Never gave Reverend a consideration as I thought they were sort of a import trendy guitar… they are the real deal.Dbluesmi

I've been enamored with the look of the Reverend guitars now for a while, and after going back and forth on which model I wanted I decided to pull the trigger on the Flatroc. I took a chance and bought a used one and can't tell you how glad I am that I did. First of all, it's a cool, retro looking instrument. It's made of solid Korina with a beautiful translucent orange finish, and it's much lighter than the current electrics that i own. The guitar has a lot of sustain and a great warm tone. I went with the Flatroc because i already own a Telecaster and a Les Paul and I was looking for something with that mini humbucker bite and rockabilly twang. This guiitar has that sound, but is much more versatile than that. With the tone and the bass roll off knob you can dial any sound from a country twang to a hard rocking Warren Haynes Explorer sound. Or how about some classic British invasion style rock? You can easily achieve that "Won't get fooled again" tone by dialing in some overdrive. Secondly, the guitar feels great! I can't say enough about how good the neck on this thing feels in my hand. It has a beautiful satin polyurethane finish that slides across your palm like butter across a hot pan. The top and back are angled in just the right spots to make playing more comfortable. And did i mention this thing is light? It makes my Les Paul feel like i'm carrying a bowling ball. Third and most important, you're getting a lot of guitar for the price! Sure they're made in Korea but they are made with care and then are tested and set up in good old USA before going out to the customer. This guitar came set up to play for almost any style but a few turns of the thumb screws on the tune-o-matic bridge and I now have the action as low as I could possibly want it with no buzz. So if you're interested in a hard rocking, cool looking, bad ass guitar at a reasonable price, that doesn't look like anything else out there, look no further. And with all the different models with different pickup configurations that Reverend has to offer, you can find the perfect guitar for that sound you're looking for.savagewood_123

The guitar itself is quite nicely built, but the app, which is supposed to help your kids learn the chords etc. is demoralizingly bad. It's hard to explain to a 5 year old why, after following the daily items (tune your guitar, practice some chords etc.) they don't get the points for completion. As a software engineer, I fail to see why it's okay to leave this basic functionality broken. Furthermore, the app appears to be abandonware. I see no updates or fixes. The 'Games' section has been 'coming soon' for months. The app should be removed from the site as a selling point, since it is basically broken. Just be aware when you buy this guitar, the app is not going to work.Ben

My 6 year old really loves the thing. She strums it and goes to it often without prompt. She can’t really get her fingers down onto the fretboard to play a chord, but she knows that those cards are instructions. She carries them around and tries playing them with the guitar on a flat surface. She also still doesn’t have a great sense of the guitar as an instrument, that’s to be taken care of, and not banged around like a toy. I think by the time she’s 8, this thing will be perfect for her. If you guys made something a little more towards the toddler end of the spectrum, I’d pick it up in a heartbeat. I understand and greatly appreciate that you’ve scaled down a real electric guitar. Phenomenal concept. Greatly happy with it. If there was something a little more durable, and a little easier for little fingers to hold the notes, I’d pick that up for sure. Great idea, great product, pretty nice app.James C.

Bought a Loog mini for my 9y old. He seems to like Guitar and I can play a bit , but whenever we tried on my Ovation he got very frustrated. Heard about the Loog 3 string and it made sense to me. Well my some loves it!! He’s learned the basic chords now because hit little hand can actually get around the fret board and he is so excited! As I’d dad, I’m I admit – this is a really well made guitar and I love messing with it !!John S.

I purchased this guitar when it was $95 off full price. So that kind of makes it a worthwhile purchase. Definitely not worth full price in my opinion. Poorly packed with insufficient padding in the box allowed two of the strings to be bent during shipping. I assume this happened during shipping. They wouldnt send bent strings right? Thankfully they provided back up strings… The nut is very poorly crafted. You can visibly see burrs and imperfections in the nut that cause the strings to ring out of tune on certain parts of the fret board even after tuning. The pick-up selector nob fell right off first time I adjusted it. I will have to glue it myself. When the notes do play out true the triple pick ups sound better than the Peavy beginner guitar I used to have– Which only had two pickups and came in a similar starter package but was about half the price as this guitar. I think if I research how to fix some of the issues I can make it playable. But this guitar is far from playable out of the box. Fairly poor quality control.Cody

I was looking forward to ordering this as my first guitar after taking some classes a couple years back. The shipping was remarkably fast–however, when the product arrived the amp was completely broken. Upon plugging the guitar into the amp and strumming, it would make a horrendous scratching, broken sound. Plucking strings has the exact same effect, and occasionally the amp will cut off after a second of playing. I've tried adjusting the dials, turning overdrive on and off, I even bought a new cord thinking that was the issue to no avail. To make matters worse I have called the customer support number multiple times asking if I could recieve a partial refund, or ship back the amp for a functioning replacement–every time I'm left on hold before the call disconnects, if I can even get through to begin with. The only reason this isn't a one star review is that the guitar itself works fine and looks beautiful! I wouldn't reccomend buying the full set if they don't bother to make sure one of the most essential parts is functioning before shipping however.James B.

I worked outside for my father for a good many weeks while the guitar was on sale, and when I got it, I had mixed emotions. After a few days, the gig bag started to rip and now theres a big hole in it. Its still usable, but it isnt really well made. Also the bag isnt really protective. Its more decorative. The strings on it and the other ones were both junk, my local guitar shop guy told me that himself, but strings are moderately priced, and most of the time they last a while, so thats not much of a deal. The amp is lower end, and the cable that plugs into the amp and the guitar started to show copper wire around 2 weeks after purchase. It still works, but it should have lasted longer. And the stand on the amp didnt hold up at all, the plastic on it broke and now it wont angle so the sound comes at your face. But other than that its a good purchase, i would just suggest to just buy the guitar alone, and buy the amp separately, instead of the kit, but that may get expensive, so check out those options and compare them to this product and decide for yourself. My local guitar shop guy told me that the guitar itself is great quality though, but there are more expensive guitars out there, its a great guitar to start out with. Another side note, not relating to the quality of the guitar, but for beginners, how to learn how to play it fast. I suggest buying Rocksmith 2014 with this for PC, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and other game consoles. Although it is expensive, the cable that comes with it counts as $20 dollars of it, and it actually surprisingly works! I started playing the game in late june or early july this year and I learned pretty quickly, to the point where I am now thinking about combining lessons and the game together to speed up the learning process even faster. Now it wont turn you into Guns N Roses overnight, but its pretty effective.TheVanillaMiner

Okay this product is good. The pickup is fine and it's a great amount of fun. BUT: The fret work is terrible. Really. They stick out of the neck, and it feels like playing with sandpaper on your fingers. Terrible rash after half an hour of playing, still has not worn off. Also the action is really bad and the second fret is buzzing like crazy on mine. I need to get that fixed, but I hoped to get it working right off the box as I am travelling a lot and don't have time to take care of my guitars (which is why I took this one). Overall if the item and the object is really fun and smart and cool (you really get that "cool" factor when playing live and people notice and start laughing at your baby-sized guitar. Also includes a "cute" factor for those who are into that.) But the quality is really poor and needs quite a bit of work to be really useful without cutting your hand. Also a mild annoyance, but the headstock is not blue. I selected this one because the picture showed a blue headstock and it looked cooler than the black one. I got the black one. Minor annoyance, still an annoyance. I would not make this choice again I think, or be prepared to go to the guitar store and invest an additional 100 dollars in fret work and proper setting.pauwohre_0

I purchased this guitar a few years ago and it is my go-to ever since whether I am at home or while traveling. I have rather small hands and not very good stretch so it makes playing my other guitars rather painful after an extended period of time. I like playing this guitar because even though it has a full scale fretboard, everything just feels smaller in my hands when I play it. The width of the neck is smaller than my other guitars makes it easier for me to reach and my hands don't get as fatigued as easily. The sound is great! I only play for fun and have a small 100W amp but it sounds excellent no matter whether I'm playing metal or jazz. The only problem I have with it is there is a little bit of fret buzz when I am playing certain notes. It is not really a problem with the instrument itself. I ordered this by mail and never had it set up after it arrived. I am not comfortable doing it myself so I will have to take it into the store whenever I get the chance. I am sure that once I get it adjusted properly, I will have no problems with it. I love this little beast.Sordesco

A solid four stars. Travel guitars all have their limitations and this one is certainly no exception. But despite those limitations this instrument fulfilled its needs on a recent trip. Which is why I waited to write this review until after it was used for its intended function. It's size and weight were convenient for traveling through airports and overhead bins. It was durable despite being mashed by other carry on luggage. It was fun to play through Vox classic rock plug in amp with ear buds but difficult to stay in tune. Also used a basic leather strap with rough suede to compensate for awkward weight distribution. This kept the strap from sliding in that the guitar is neck heavy. All travel guitars like the Traveler series suffer the same malady. The Neck is straight as an arrow and the action is very good. Haven't changed the strings yet but the stop tailpiece is adjacent to the pickup which may make string changes difficult. All in all, I would not gig with this guitar but for the money it served its purpose preparing for a gig upon my return. A good value overall with some limitations.Rockinvet

Overall: This is my umpteenth Epiphone custom sg guitar ive bought since the last guitar i had which was the more lower end 61 standard i bought here used last year. The caps pots and Gibson USA burstbuckers are definitely a step up in the right direction and are true to the original reissue Sg standards back in the beginning of the Gibson sg. It sounds like a 2000 dollar Gibson reissue sg but at Epiphone import prices. I intend on keeping this guitar for a lifetime and is a good backup guitar to my similarly pricef esp ltd viper 1000 deluxe i bought a year ago from a competitor in the now disconnected tiger eye finish from zZounds. Lastly i also intend on getting a real Gibson sg custom 63 version used for a discounted price. One more thing i might buy a backup les Paul sg standard by Epiphone just in case this one gets stolen or lost. Thank you Epiphone custom for stepping up your game and making better sg custom shop guitars than in the past. The black Epiphone sg custom with gold hardware is no joke either and i might another one when i get done paying for this Les Paul sg standard first fron here.Isaac

I got this guitar in sparkling burgundy and the finish is beautiful. The workmanship on this guitar is great; it feels very high quality. The fretwork is also really good, with no fret ends sticking out to cut my hands. That being said, the pickups are not very good. I initially debated purchasing the guitar since it sounded very ice-picky and thin when I played it in the store. But I decided to take a chance, knowing the return policy that GC has. I brought it home and the first thing I did was go over it completely. The fretboard was very dry. Even my wife, who doesn't play guitar, looked at it and commented on that. So removed the strings and polished the frets and cleaned/conditioned the fretboard. Then I swapped out the Alnico Classic Pro pickups, which are rather bad, and put in a set of Probucker 2/3 pickups that I had sitting around. Better strings, polished frets, and some nicer alnico 2 pickups made a huge difference. It sounds full and thick and warm, and it plays like an angel. I highly recommend it, as long as you can swap out the pickups.Robert

This guitar had been on back order for almost two years. I ordered then cancelled twice after long delays. Finally, the world went back to semi-normal, and I was able to order it and receive it in 5 days. Absolutely stunning finish. The blue case it comes in is an added bonus. I have a 2004 Gibson LP Standard with Burstbucker Pro's, and that is the standard which all others are judged. This Epiphone Les Paul holds its own when played back to back. The Seymour Duncan JB is bright, articulate, and adds about 10% more volume to your rig. It is made to rock hard, so dialing it down might be a challenge, but I am not using this Tommy Thayer Les Paul to play Elizabeth Reed. Fit and finish were fantastic right out of the box. The only thing I turned screws on was adding strap locks. The Electric Blue finish is mind blowing and you will be able to pick up some purple hues because of the amount of glitter in the finish. Rock and Roll All Night! My only gripe is that I wish Ace Frehley had a finish this cool, but then again, he wasn't in Kiss as long as Tommy Thayer. This is coming from a kid who learned to play guitar from the original Space Ace.Justin

Phenomenal Instrument. Superbly crafted. Slim tapered 60's neck. Excellent fretboard. Smooth playing Guitar with an Ultra Comfortable neck. The Seymour Duncan JB Humbuckers (The Bridge has Custom Blue Pole Pieces and the Neck has a Chrome cover and bezel) are very touch sensitive, powerful and have this incredible tone!! The 18:1 Grovers turn so Smooth and keep it in tune. The intonation is fantastic. It is Non – Weight Relieved which might account for the incredible Sustain. The Sparkle Electric Blue Finish is Absolutely Stunning and flawless. As is the binding. Although It seems more purple than blue. The chrome Tommy Thayer Truss Rod Cover and The mirror pickguard add so cool accents along with all the bright chrome hardware. The electric blue hardshell case is so fantastic and reminds me of a plush Limo!! The Tommy Thayer picture and Certificate in a fancy hard binder adds a very nice little surprise to the "Case Candy".JJ

Overall: Definitely overpriced, but then again, you’re paying for the name and the free guitars Tommy Thayer’s getting out of the deal.It claims to have two Seymour Duncan Jazz Bridge pickups. Those are my favorite pickup, I already have them in two other guitars, and to me, the sound out of this doesn’t feel like them.It does feel a bit cheaply made, even compared to the Epiphone Wilshire I own, which is another artist model and was three hundred bucks cheaper than this.I don’t know if it was damaged in shipping or was already broken, but my neck pickup does not function. Switching to the middle is noisy and thin and the neck position is a killswitch.The bridge pickup has some wiring issues as well, the volume pot actually has to be backed off slightly from 100% before it will work. I don’t want to go through the process of returning it for repairs or replacement. I’m not good at wiring my own stuff but it’d be easier to bring it to a local guy. Especially if shipping was the issue to begin with. The control knobs don’t feel like the were placed in properly, either, they’re uneven and wobbly, not flush with the body at all.The only reason to buy it is the finish, and it does look great. The chrome hardware is also quite snazzy, far more mirrored than usual.I don’t know if it’s $800+ worth of great, probably not.I don’t regret buying this but I also wouldn’t buy it again, if that makes any sense to you.Joe

I suspect that our review will be screened out because it is not positive, but if you really want to know we were very disappointed with the guitar. I’m addition to some quality concerns, the guitar reeked of fumes. I had hope to enroll our child in local classes that use the guitar but I could not, as responsible parent give my child an item that I could not be around with our lung pain and head-aces. After many, many weeks attempting to air the guitar out it still smelled just as awful and caused the same health concerns. When I reached out Loog sent me a letter stating that the fumes were an unfortunate quality control issue but they deemed them safe. I was horrified that a company manufacturing items for children would so easily disregard their health, as previously stated I could not be in the same space as the guitar for more than a few seconds with out lung pain and head-aces, nothing about that is okay.Heather B.

I purchased a Loog Mini for my 3-year old toddler. It is a darling guitar that is just what I was looking for…However, here are my issues with it: (1) Upon arrival, I noticed that there was a cosmetic blemish on it. I didn't want to bother with a return process, so I kept it. (2) A few weeks later, I noticed that one of the guitar strings had rusted. (3) As the Loog company is in the business of children's guitars, it should equally invest in a wider selection of children's guitar straps. It is impossible to find one to accommodate my child's size. (4) The flash cards are cute but not very helpful. More emphasis is placed on the illustrations, rather than on the musical notes. Additionally, I don't find the Loog application helpful in my child's learning so we have taken to YouTube to provide us a better understanding. Overall, the Loog Mini is a sweet instrument and I find no flaws in its design but I am minimally impressed with the learning aids provided/associated with it.Olga F.

I've been playing the guitar for about 20 years, and I've made it a habit to play to my 8 month old son every evening since he was born. His attention and focus towards the guitar was immediate, where he wants to hit the fretboard and pull on the strings as I play. I would hand him my acoustic as I played the electric and he would enjoy exploring it for a good 15 minutes. I came across the Loog a while back and decided to buy my son one so that he could continue to explore the guitar while decreasing my worries of him damaging my fairly nice acoustic. I'm impressed with its quality and durability, and I find myself picking it up to play fairly often too. Because it's only 3 strings, it's also helped my wife and sister, who have never played the guitar, feel less intimidated to try it out. They're using the flashcards and app to learn simple chords and songs. I'm excited for the day my son can imitate playing skills, and I believe that starting him off with a 3-stringed guitar will be a more rewarding play experience versus a 6 string.Jonathan S.

Seeing this guitar intrigued me — it is beautifully designed, natural glow finish on neck and body, pearl-look pick guard and tinted neck and headstock. I had been looking for a new Telecaster because – well, who doesn't want a really good Tele. I was a bit unsure because I wasn't sure if the thin line models still had the 'REAL' Telecaster tone. I got this one from AMS in 2 days, opened it up and was amazed ad the workmanship, finish and playability right out of the box. AND.- it is ALL Telecaster! Light, easy to play with tones for days! TL;DR: I'm still rather new to playing electrics but this is my eight in about a year. Having had it two days, it is already my favorite. The neck is the most suited to me of any guitar I own or have tried. It is on the thinner side but not at all extreme. For reference, I'm also quite fond of the Fender Player neck. This is just a little thinner. The fingerboard is nicely rolled. This guitar sounds great (clean and crunch on Katana 100) and the fit/finish is spectacular. This is my first semi/hollow and I still can't get over how light it is, without negatively affecting the feel or tone. I passed by this guitar many times on the wall of my local GC until recently it spoke to me. I played it for a while and was quite enamored with the feel of it. I bought the demo unit and took it home. After a little more playing, I learned that the top end of the 13th fret was bad/unlevel. The issue could be very much heard and even seen. But, I was in love. I took it back to the store and there was no fuss at all having them order me a replacement. The replacement, new in box, is in perfect shape. Action and intonation on mine were spot on out of the box. No blemishes whatsoever and while I was rather turned off by the aesthetic of this guitar for a long time, thus having passed by it so many times, it is growing on me. I had a great experience with Musiciansfriend. I called my gear advisor, Scott, and he went the extra mile to answer all of my questions over about a two week period. My guitar weighs just under 10 pounds. The set up was superb with a low action and near perfect intonation. Phenomenal sound. Just amazing. Each string rings out clear and balanced. This is my first Gibson. I am a Fender player ('69 Jaguar, '97 Strat) so I was afraid I wouldn't like the warm tones of the humbuckers (nearly went with P90 because of this), but I can't compliment this guitar enough. It's a legend for a reason. The only bad thing is the case. It's obvious that Gibson doesn't take as much care in quality control for their cases. Pea sized bubble on the exterior and lining already coming unglued. However, musiciansfriend is working to right this for me.Jonathan

Overall: Ordered my 60's Les Paul in Unburst on Thursday February 10th. I paid for overnight shipping cause I couldn't wait & zZounds didn't disappoint. Wow, does this guitar growl. These pickups are so hot, I was startled when I turned up the amp. On clean, every note in a chord is articulated brilliantly. And the sustain is strikingly long and full. I thought the fit and finish was exceptional, and appreciate the quality considering the price. It makes my other guitars feel like I'm riding a bike with a flat tire. It's just not a fair comparison. I am afraid I will have to upgrade my entire fleet now – it has spoiled me. I am more gratified with the purchase than I anticipated.Howard

Seeing that one buyer sadly gave this product only 1 star, I was obliged to comment. You can get good cleans and some sweet sounding OD tones from this little mini. I own 14 other minis, and this is the second best. Only the Blackstar Fly and a Pignose might be a better choice, but the Pignose is a bit more than a mini, and it doesn't have the built in delay that gives this Laney a good depth of tone. I've yet to play around with the download voicings/fx, but I'm sure that will only increase my appreciation of this little amp. I'm only deducting the one point since the Blackstar does a bit better at more output with less noise, but again, with minis you need to expect that when you are driving them hard, or putting pedals in front that tend to increase the frequency range further beyond its comfort zones. Most of the time, I'm not hearing noise, just hearing one of the sweetest OD tones I've heard from a mini. The dual voicings and AUX input are also a plus.GAS Man

Laney Mini STB . Looks great and seems to be well constructed, early days yet. The basic sounds from the amp are astoundingly good for its size. I like simple knobs, and knob twiddling is what its all about. Careful use of the gain knob instantly takes you from a really lovely clean sound through slight break up to fairly grungy crunch. The facts that you have a single tone control makes it easy to shape the sound to suit your guitar and taste. The guitar level knob serves as a second soft gain, or if you like channel volume to be topped of with the main master volume knob. Judicious use of the delay 'Leve'l and 'Delay' knobs can take you from gentle reverb like spaciousness to a more experimental long delay effect. The only issue i have is with the delay 'effect' control is the absurdly small level button knob, it is too short. I don't have the largest fingers but I find it impossible to adjust unless I shift the delay and tone knobs out of the way. The drive button shifts the gain starting point and brings in some very dirty sounds indeed can get a bit fizzy at the extreme but plenty of very usable overdrive sounds are there. Using the LSI cable link and Tonebridge App is fun. It takes a while to balance the output volume of your phone/Tablet, with the levels on the amp, and the levels on the App itself . You get there in the end and have some fun sounds to play with. Given that this is a very small portable practise amp which fulfils it basic purpose extremely well with the onboards electronics , I'm not sure how much I would actually use the LSI going forward.Each to their own I guess. Not tried bluetooth yet for playing along to backing etc.Also gives you the option to use the amp as a simple blutooth speaker I guess. I decided not to purchase the PSU straight off and to try the amp with rechargeable double AA's. So far they are lasting for many hours and still going strong.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

Loved playing guitar hero again. Guitar controllers worked with no issues. I adjusted the audio and visual lag from the game itself and I had no problems with the timing of buttons after that. I suggest guitar hero 3 for these controllers 🙂p-hhog-dze0har

Just took delivery of a used Hofner shorty bass in black. Lovely instrument. Fit and finish was fine. I had to do a little bit of intonation setting which took no time. The neck is better than expected. Frets are finished properly and the neck has a nice satin finish. Its not to wide, not too thick and feels great. The pickup delivers and even sound across the strings. There are no dead spots. Volume and tone controls work great and the knurled knobs feel very good. I was able to dial in some of my preferred sounds using the VPF control on my Markbass Blackline 250 going through a Markbass NY604 cabinet. I was also liking the sounds going through an Eden World Tour preamp. Im looking forward to rehearsal tomorrow using the Eden directly into an EV ZLX 12 powered cabinet. The bass came professionally packed and really appeared to be new. Love the padded Hofner gig bad with the logo on it. All in all a great small, inexpensive (but not cheap) bass for practice, performance and especially travel.Miguel404

First of all, this bass is just what I wanted for practicing when traveling. Compact, 24 frets, decent electronics and comes with a gig bag. Intonation was pretty good too. I did adjust the intonation, but that's really only because I'm kind of fussy about intonation. One thing I will say is I had never experienced "neck dive" until I owned this bass like. in the resting position, the bass headstock will point right down to 5 o'clock. Since this is a practice instrument, I made some modifications. I put weight in the body cavity, but the body cavity is not huge, so with extra weight, I could get the neck to hang in the resting position at about 3 o'clock. I next removed the front strap pin and drilled a 3/8" in diameter hole 2" into the body at the same angle as the strap pin screw. I purchased 3/8" aluminum round stock and cut it to 7.5". 2" would insert into the body and 5.5" would remain outside to mount the strap button while extending out to nearly the 12th fret. I painted the round stock black (primer and paint). I mounted (drilled and epoxied) the strap button on the end of the round stock. I think epoxied the extender into the body. It looks pretty darned good and now the bass balances perfectly.Kevin1014

This guitar is the perfect size for my 8,7, and 6 year old. Look wise, it doesn't appear to be cheaply made and it doesn't sound like it either. My first impressions were that this isn't really some cheap toy guitar. It is defintely a real guitar but kid sized. The amp is mini but I am still impressed with the sound because I honestly wasn't expecting it to be as nice as it is. This guitar definitely delivered everything that was advertised. It is for sure a cool toy and it comes with everything your kids need to rock out with straight out of the box.Smlberryz

My 9 yr old grand daughter has long expressed an interest in learning to play guitar, like Omi does. My electric was a little big for her to deal with, and the acoustic I bought her to learn on was not as exciting, in her eyes. This is the answer, it is small enough for her to use while still being large enough for me to use. The sound is solid. She is excited to practice. Her mom is excited that the amp can be turned down to a reasonable volume at their home. 🙂DReece417

Aesthetically the look is great! It was an instant favorite Christmas gift. Unfortunately shortly after unboxing, we discovered that no power cord was included for the amp. We were able to use one we had lying around the house, but the amp worked for all of 10 minutes and then never worked again. We ended up returning the guitar and buying my son an acoustic one from a local shop. Do not waste your money!Jenn_Lee
