You can do so much better for the money!Craig5678
I was looking for a nylon string guitar tht was affordable and made well. This guitar sounds great through a PA. The sound on its own is a little weak. I find myself playing this guitar whenever I'm learning a new song or trying to discover new ideas. The Martin 000C is a nice guitar.Raynman
I have a very expensive David Russell Young nylon, but this is now my go-to nylon. The tone is even across the fingerboard, the spruce gives it a nice brightness and volume, plays easily and has sustain for days (and I mean for DAYS), probably due to the steel string-like bracing. Usually you have to work a lot harder to achieve even pull=offs and hammer-ons, but this is effortless. A great purchase. I can't recommend this guitar enough! Just because it is relatively inexpensive, don't pass it by. I am a pro/union guitarist and this is now at my first call nylon.Lou F.

Reviews:
I really love this guitar! I purchased in a sunburst finish. There's nothing to dislike. Martin's come with the action a little high, this is to be expected. I took it to a tech to have the action lowered to my taste. Because it's plek'd from the factory, you can really get the action quite low. It's is now the best of my guitars. The sound is so balanced, it's beautiful to behold and to play. I never want to put it down. I've waited a bunch of years to commit…it is everything I wanted and imagined it could be. Martin standard series are all amazing. They Are the Martin sound defined, the reference point. They are not a cheap investment, but they are worth it. Whether you like a short scale hog (000-18), or a long scale Rosewood dread (D-28), you will not be disappointed. I love the long scale OM with rosewood. I wanted a sunburst with understated dark bindings to blend with the sunburst. This is my guitar…it is stellar in every respect. If you can acquire any model of the standard series of martins, you will be blessed with tone and beauty. It will be a lifetime guitar.GGC
I don’t like buying mid to high end guitars in the blind. Even if it’s a Martin, Collings, Taylor etc… but I was able to play 3 M36’s at a store in Nashville and they all sounded the same. I had to think about it because I have a Martin HD28 and it was very close. The thing about the M36 is that it having a OOOO (Jumbo) size body, I got bolder low ends. Finger style was easy and picking was bright and articulate. Problem solved not needing to bring more then one guitar to the recording studio and didn’t have to worry about gigging with it because of the affordability. American Musical Supply always makes it easy with the nice selection and 12 months interest free to get one. I installed (myself) a K&K pure mini pickup and this guitar sings. Thank AMS!T Galloway

Reviews:
I haven't played in a few years but the pandemic had me searching for something to get my mind off working crazy hours. There would be few guitars I'd buy sight unseen but I rolled the dice because I'd played Martin's first backpacking incarnation and was familiar with their quality. This little guitar wouldn't disappoint! It is a smaller scale but my fingers fit on the fret board and it's easy to just leave out and pick up when you need it. The sound is really good for the size and it's easy to strum or pick. It was exactly what I was looking for but a little more. I honestly didn't expect to be this happy with how much guitar I got for the price. If you need something to stick by the desk or play by the fire, this is a good optionBob
it arrived yesterday to romania, from music store germany (thanks for handling it with so much care!) and i laid my hands for the first time on this loveable tiny beauty. it looks amazing and feels amazing, in every aspect. excellent playability all thourghout the neck, right out of the box… i wanted a travel buddy — small, sturdy, light and playable… and here she is. there are a lot reviews on the net, i will let here my own subjective opinion, after one day of having it (shipped from music store, germany). – i'm a tall guy (6 feet 3 / 190 cm), but the smallness of martin lx1 is not a hindrance in playing. my wife is a mongolian petite, so perhaps I'm used with handling small beauties 🙂 – i have big hands, but not thick fingers. if i stretch my fingers i can cover this guitar's neck from the net to the 10th fret (from pinky to thumb stretched out) — so you can have a clue; however, i feel comfortable playing all over the neck, even past the 14th fret. so no problem with that… and the transition back and forth to my normal-sized acoustic fender pm1 or to my electric squier affinity tele feels smooth, adjusting in no time. – the guitar is neck heavy, but it doesn't bother me at all; you see, it sits comfortably in my lap. – well, of course, the sound is not of a normal-sized guitar — one has to live with that. it is somehow a boxy sound, but martin has a lot of character, so i'm quite pleased with the sound. the guitar seems to suit better for fingerpicking or strumming with bare fingers; when i use my pick it's too noisy, especially the d string is sooo loud, taking over the other strings. in know, it's a new guitar, freshly out of its box, so perhaps it needs time to shape its sound. if this will not happen (due to hpl back and sides) i will still be pleased, the sound is good enough and i can work my way around. – the machine heads are of excellent quality (like every aspect of this guitar, actually): i tuned the guitar yesterday, after taking it out of the box, then forgot about it… summing up: craftmanship — state of the art sound — boxy, you may like it or not (martin has character, a distinct voice, above all) optic — beautiful as it gets, simply perfect price/performance — well, i would have loved to pay less… in the states, it was 399 USD until recently, now it's more expensive and perhaps the price will rise as well in the current covid situation; so buy know, don't postpone if you consider having one.
I played a friend's dreadnaught sized Martin and fell in love. I already owned two other guitars at the time (Samick and a Fender Redondo Player acoustic) and I didn't want to spend the money in a Martin at this time. This happened to pop up as a stupid deal of the day and so I bought. I wasn't sure about the laminate at first, but it feels and plays like a well made guitar. It sounds bright and it is a tone I enjoy hearing. If someone had given me advice as a new player I would have wished they told me about this guitar. It is concert size so it is a little smaller than a dreadnaught. It is easier for me to practice barring chords and doesn't feel as awkward on my body as my dreadnaught. I love both guitars, but I definitely still use this one as I advance as a player. I noodle on it when I am watching tv, take it when I go way for the weekend, and bring it to play for my friends. This is a fantastic guitar and I can proudly say I own a Martin :).RockstarAsh

I had initially decided that I had made a mistake and purchased another guitar that I don't really need and was going to return the item. I contacted AMS and they made the process easy and I was ready to go. When the guitar arrived I of course could not resist opening and playing it just to check it out. This is an amazing guitar that is beautiful and has sustain for days. A high-end Martin at an affordable price? Obviously I'll be keeping it. Well played AMS.Chris
Just perfect! I had played several classical guitars and they all sounded pretty much the same – kind of hollow. Then I played the Martin. I could tell a tonal difference immediately. The combination of the Martin soundbox and the Magnifico strings is perfection. I was able to find a used one but even if you need to save your pennies – buy one!!Nathan T.

Reviews:
Really nice and helpful service!! Great choice!!LUCIA
This Martin DC-X2E sounds nice and plays ok. Action was a little higher than I like but not too bad. Not a big fan of the very-wide neck. Sometimes the high E gets muted by my palm when reaching over the frets playing fingerstyle (lower area of the neck). So even with my fairly long fingers, having to stretch my fingers around the massive neck to avoid muting the high E gets tiresome quick. Basically, it's a bit difficult to play. In my opinion, it definitely does not play nearly as nice or easy as my Taylor 214ce or even my GS Mini. This Martin does sound great though. It's a great guitar overall.Johnny
I was looking for an acoustic-electric with a cutout. I didn't want to modify my existing acoustic to add electronics and I've started playing higher on the neck. I thought long and hard about buying a guitar under $400 knowing it would probably be "good enough", but I have a Martin X-Series 12 string that I absolutely love after being disappointed with a cheaper guitar. I also weighed "country of origin". I am so glad I didn't settle for less! This Martin X-Series guitar was set up perfectly right out of the box. The narrow neck makes it a dream to play and the SOUND! Nice deep sustained tones playing unplugged, and then when plugged in it's just awesome! I LOVE the soft rich tones!Harlan

Not as deep as mahogany, nor as resonant as rosewood, nor bell-like like granadillo or ziricote, cherry has its own earthy crisp sound. If you like that, this guitar is a beaut-incredibly playability and sound (and looks pretty too).JB
I have several guitars but none a good as my new OME Cherry Orchestra Acoustic-Electric Guitar. Action is low and is a dream to play. Sounds great as it is easy to play. I've always wanted a Martin but never purchased one. I would trade all my guitars for this one if I had too. Thank you SAMASH a sweet deaL.Dennis
A great feel and sound right out of the box. Beautiful cherry back and sides with a matte finish contrast with a high gloss spruce top. After a slight height adjustment to the saddle and nut (personal preference) this baby plays like butter. Deep resonant sound in an OM body and crystal clear highs. The electronics are spot on and easy to use. The hard shell case fits nice and snug. A pure pleasure to play. I can't wait to hear this one open up sonically with some age.Sofa Strummer

Absolutely love it. Sounds great. Feels great to play. Looks great.Reviewed by guitarguitar custome
Bought for studio work. Smokes! Guitar's natural eq is a perfect hi/lo cut for a mix with a nice mid presence. Very balanced with everything you need and nothing you don't. Wanted for more finger-style tracking. Have several other usual-suspect woods/brands/models but missing something in this 'space'/role. Was a perfect fit!.Daniel

I enjoy my new case. I did have to return the initial case as it was cracked towards the top. Luckily, I have a Guitar Center nearby and they made the return and re-order very easy. The case itself is very functional. It is very common for reviews to point out flaws and for me, the one flaw is that the case does not open very far. It barely goes beyond 45 degrees which makes me cautious when removing or replacing my Martin guitar. This has nothing to do with the service from Guitar Center obviously – manufacturing. Also, the inner compartment is not very deep. Not really an issue just when compared to other guitar cases.James
I have been putting guitars in and out of cases and in and out of cars for more than 50 years. These currentMartin tblack ones are, not near as solid as the old blue ones. Nor are they done well. Poor QC. Nothing lines up. After concentrating and , hopefully, get past the aluminum safety the top has to be forced to mate with the bottom. The aluminum extrusion is not unlike the wheels on Ben Hur's chariot. Not nice to risk my 3 wonderful Martins. For over 50 years I have habitually popped a latch to get a purchase on cases. You know just enough grip to shift the case in the back seat of a car or to move the handle in reach. Well surprise, while shifting the D12-28 off came the latch! Really!? Some room inside or a dedicated place for a hydrator would seem prudent. This seems to be one of those, if it could be made cheaper it would made cheaper deals. It is a shame to put a fine guitar in a third rate case.Wamp
I wanted to offer a "workaround" to one of the negative comments I read before purchasing the case. The user had a problem with the plastic cracking in the vicinity of the center clasp. I will say that I have noticed the fit on the case is quite tight at this location, especially because I have added a peg for fastening my guitar strap to the base of the neck. I have found a simple solution – just fasten the two adjacent clasps first. This distributes any stress on the plastic case and makes it easy to fasten the center clasp without risking damage to the case. I am grateful to the reviewer who pointed out this potential problem so I could address it before it manifested itself on my case.Lizarch5

Great guitar for the money, especially with the bundle package. Yes, you may need to tweak a few things (truss rod adjustment, smooth out the fret ends, polish frets) to your tastes and to get it set up perfectly, but that is the case even with expensive guitars. Would buy again.Jason
