This item was returned in great condition. it looks and plays like new, with only minor signs of use (slight scuffs, etc.). the martin d-18 authentic 1937 vts acoustic guitar is a replication of a 1937 d-18 that stays true to the original with hide glue construction and historically accurate detailing. 1937 was an excellent year for guitars with a perfect storm of craftsmanship, innovation and materials. the d-18 authentic 1937 features genuine mahogany back and sides, an adirondack spruce top and it includes an authentic circa-1937 bracing pattern. it has period-correct "18" authentic-style appointments, an authentic neck barrel and heel and, new this year, a more accurate body profile based on dreadnought shapes from the early golden era of martin history. the martin vintage tone system (vts) is employed to age the top and braces, which captures the tone from the 1930s era. comes with a hardshell case.

Wonderful instrument. beautiful set-up, sound. never been in a situation that i couldn't be heard! no problems at all, just a minor chip above the nut where i kept my capo and also some fret wear, 1st 5 frets. it is an "aged" guitar. you can see in the pictures. otherwise, it's just as when it was bought. installed are aftermarket bridge pins, forgot the brand acoustic authentic or something like that, they are high end and sound great. those are included as are the original ebony ones that came in the guitar. i installed the aftermarket pins. rather than enlarging the pin holes i reduced the diameter of the aftermarket pins since i didn't want to affect the original factory fit of the black pins. the white aftermarket ones fit perfectly fine and sound really good, but my craftsmanship on the reduction was a little rough. case is in perfect condition and key and hang tags and polish cloth are included.

Selling my showroom condition martin dstg. this is a full dreadnaught body size, with the famous martin sound and booming projection. it has always been stored in the case and properly humidified in the included genuine martin hard shell case. the nut action has been lowered by the local lutherie and it plays great. this special edition model is a full solid wood guitar, with similar construction to the d-18 /d-28 including forward shifted scalloped bracing. it uses a similar sitka spruce top, but it differs in that is uses sapele back/sides instead of mahogany like the d-18, or rosewood like the d-28.
