I was very excited to see and play a highly reviewed 12 string that costs pennies compared to my 12 string Takamine, Yamaha and Ibanez. Once I got through the box I saw the guitar had the look of some cheap pressed wood. The sound was as weak as a cup of Finnish coffee. The darn thing couldn't stay in tune to save mine or its life. How this guitar gets rated so highly MUST be a result of fake reviewers OR I simply got the ONE Rogue 12 string that seemed to be made by the Fisher-Price Company. This is NOT a musical instrument. It IS an instrument to make noise with. My edition was not worthy of the effort one has to put forward to learn and play guitar. One must have to have an instrument meet the musician at least half-way. With this "musical" instrument, you have to cross the block, pick the guitar up and fight against it to produce close to a tone that sounds musical. Best to buy a used good name 12 string guitar. Or save your pennies and get a Takamine or Yamaha. The latter will be excellent and cost in the $350 range. But a Yamaha will play forever and stay in tune. I recommend my Yamaha over my ash Ibanez. The former just has a fuller tone. If possible save for the Takamine which is on another guitar plane altogether. But don't buy a guitar based on price and/or name. I've discovered many of the friends I play with can't tell if their singing and/or playing is in tune!!. And yet, they own $5,000 MARTIN GUITARS!! Haha. Quite simply a waste of money. Be like me buying a red-green "masterpiece" oil painting, as I'm red-green color blind. But I DO have a good ear and this Rogue of a guitar is worthy of no one's money or effort. M.F. has many more-though more expensive-options that will bring the performer YEARS if not DECADES of playing happiness. Only misery lies in a 12 string Rogue guitar. Avoid.muskoxmike
Purchased this around December hoping to get my kids into it. As usually happens, it ended up being much more of a display use. I would imagine it was picked up about 12 times max total. It sat on display being ignored primarily. Still, by mid-June (in under 6 months) the bridge has warped and started to detach from the main guitar. I noticed this as I walked past it. The glue did not hold. Surprise though, because you can't just pull up a website for Rogue. I called Guitar Center for help to contact the manufacturer as this should be covered under their warranty. Guitar cCenter took my information and said they would forward it to their "contact" for the company and I should receive a response in 3-5 business days. It's been a few weeks now and I'm not impressed. No one called me back, they wouldn't simply give me an 800 number to call to handle it myself, and I still have no solution and no idea who to contact in order to make a claim on the manufacturer warranty. I am more than disappointed with Guitar Center's negligence to truly stand behind a beginner product they seem to offer a great deal of.Amanda V.
I'm so impressed by my RD 90. I think some reviewers are hesitant to give it the praise it deserves because it is an inexpensive guitar. I did a little work to lower the action and now it is perfect. Humidity and temperature changes cause it to need occasional tuning, no different that my other two acoustics. It has a full, rich tone. It plays easily. It makes me feel like I got a real bargain; I don't know how they turn a profit at this price.Charles

I ordered this instrument as I was curious as to how I'd get along with 12 strings, and to see if it would be worth future investment. I've ordered and played an Epiphone EJ-200 before and was surprised by the brilliant quality I was getting for such a low cost, so on this occasion I followed Epiphone again for my foray into 12 string playing. The instrument is well crafted for the price point with only a few small QC issues slipping through, but nothing I can't live with. I was hoping for a larger sound as the small dreadnought body doesn't quite articulate as well as a bigger instrument would. It's got that jangle sound you want, although it feels like it's a little suppressed with the mahogany build and body shape & size. That being said, the instrument handles very well, and for me it was an easy adaption to play with the much thicker and wider neck. It holds tuning well and was set up pretty nicely – I didn't have to make any adjustments out of the box. For a first 12 string I'd recommend this above most others at the price point.
This is my Long Term Review. I have had this guitar for a bit over two years now and can give a more complete picture of it. First, the good. This is a very well made guitar. Under the pros, you will notice I mentioned Good Construction. This is particularly important in a 12 string. The biggest issue with all 12's is that they tend to come apart very quickly. You will have bowing, warping, separation of glueing, etc. All this is because of the tremendous extra pressure 12's suffer. After 2+ years, this guitar is still solid as a rock, and I leave it strung all the time. So I would say construction and bracing are very good on this instrument. Along with this is the fact that it Stays In Tune. This is another major issue with all 12's. Again, that extra force tends to make them go out of tune quickly. This one holds tune very well, and that is important as tuning a 12 takes some time. As for sound, I would say Not too Bad overall, and Really Good for an budget level guitar. It is a little thin for my taste, but there are ways around that. First, throw on a set of decent strings. I prefer Martin Marquise on mine, but personal choice. Second, I like to play through an acoustic amp, and I put a Seymour Ducan Woody on mine. When adjusted correctly, I can get a really decent, full bass sound, lots of body and still keep a nice jangle expected from a 12. Will it sound like a Martin or Gibson, no, but it gives a really nice sound for such a low price. As for the negatives, very few. First, keep in mind when Epiphone says "Select Spruce Top," they really mean laminated, not solid. But I suppose there varying qualities of laminated woods as well, and this one is great – really good resonance and sustain. It could maybe do with a better set of tuners, but as said before, it holds tune exceptionally well. Overall, for the price, Epiphone makes a really nice and playable guitar. Now am just praying they come out with a Masterbilt version of it.kdw
As usual with AMS, my order process was very easy,. The order arrived exactly when it was supposed to. However that’s when it all went South….! Exited to see and play my new 12 string, I unboxed it’s and sat down to play it. There was a single string in tune, not a one. A first I might add from AMS. I spent the rest of the day attempting to tune the guitar, although I never did. The tuners were difficult to turn, as if there was a bind of some type. I would get the note close only to have it go flat or sharp. I never was able to get it right. I called a friend of mine who’s been playing over 50 years and he was unable to get it in tune as well. Unfortunately I did return it to AMS, without issue. I must add, I have 2 other Epiphone guitar, electric and acoustic and they both came out of the box nearly perfect. I have never had a negative issue with AMS, and even the call to Customer Service was very positive and the agent could not have been nicer and even apologetic. I’m guessing this was just a lemon, but for now I’m going to do a little more research before I decide which 12 string I order, at this particular price point.
6. Guild F-2512e 12-String Acoustic Guitar Maple

This guitar comes with a first-rate roadrunner case. this is a beautiful 12 string acoustic. the top is a lovely spruce. i have tried in three photos to make clear the inch long scratch on the top near the strap button. as far as scratches go, this one is placed pretty well. it goes with the grain, as you can see in the photos, so you have to catch it in the light just right to see it. sides and back are maple, and the arched back, with its tiger eye-style markings, is especially beautiful. as you can imagine, it has a bright yet robust ringing sound. it does have a piezo pickup, and the electronics, like everything else on this guitar, work perfectly. it has been kept in a humidity-controlled, smoke-free home. it comes with a roadrunner case that is in perfect structural condition, but the previous owner had children who chose to do a little light coloring on the top.

First off, some people don't know the real characteristics of a Guild 12 string. And, no, they aren't ALL supposed to be deep….The wood determines the sound. Denser wood, deeper sound…lighter wood, brighter the sound…I bought one after playing MANY 12 strings. Including Taylor, Martin, Takamine….and this one was my favorite. Frets easy, sound is bright yet full, loud, and just a great guitar. As for the electronics..ehh..not the best…but…I am running a LR Baggs acoustic preamp pedal and it brings the guitars natural sound. I turn up the bottom just a bit…sounds amazing…LOVE THIS GUITAR…and it's beautiful to boot….Jamie
I ran into one of these in a guitar store and was immediately impressed compared to the other 12-strings in the acoustic room. It's not a Guild 512, but it has a good, solid sound and nice neck. I was concerned about the tuners, but they seem to work fine and stay in tune and they are the same as on the deluxe Westerly models. My guitar showed up with a detached soundhole control. I almost sent it back, but I liked the sound of the guitar enough that I just decided to reattach the soundhole control with some double sided tape. We'll see how that holds up, but I wasn't impressed with the original glue job. Otherwise, nice guitar. A 12-string has so much going on sonically, that I don't think I need a more expensive model to get good sound. The pickup sounds nice, too. I also like the satin finish. Good guitar. This is the worst guitar for the money I have ever purchased. My brother took sick just before it was delivered. I never got a chance to check this guitar before the time expires. Where should I start. To say this guitar's flyncey is an understatement. The neck is very uneven! The body is so thin even at its great size it cannot give a deep tone. The head of this guitar is heavier than the whole guitar. I see positive reviews on this guitar and I wonder which cartoon characters are posting them or if they are even real. The sound system is is pathetic! It does not matter which amplifier or PA system I play it through it is totally inadequate. And it is incapable of being used in any type of venue through any type of sound system. Why put it in there at all. Guild should be ashamed of itself!!!!! I needed a low action 12 string acoustic guitar that wasn't the size of a battleship. Something I could practice on at home without annoying half the neighborhood. An 'acoustic' guitar that would give me stonkloads of volume plugged in but with absolutely zero feed back even when I'm standing right in front of the monitor. It also had to sound like an acoustic guitar at any volume level. Turns out that's exactly what I got. Easy…..now I need to get a case…turns out not so easy here in the UK. Why don't dealers buy in the correct case when they order the guitar? Or is this just an ESP thing? Anyway, when a guitar is this good it is not so easy to get annoyed.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
From the minute I unpacked this guitar, I cannot put it down. The neck feels just like my PRS SE 24 Custom. It is a bit wider to accommodate the 12 strings. The setup, from American Musical Supply was spot on. The Fishman electronics are great and match up to the Loudbox Artist Pro 120 w I have been playing it through. This guitar is designed to be plugged in. The thinness of the body, 2" makes it very comfortable to play, but, it doesn't have any appreciable sound projection capabilities. It is like strumming a 12 string solid body electric. Right after the new years. I will be picking up the TL-6 6 string and will retire my Ovation Elite TX from acoustic gigs. The workmanship and quality at this price cannot be beat. Buy it and enjoy it, you won't be sorry!

I wasnt sure how I would like the mandocello but I was pleasantly surprised at the rich sound and tone of this instrument. I actually had thought of returning it because I thought i ordered a Octave Mandolin. Once I plugged it in and played it….I couldnt put it down . The sustain and low end is amazing ! Very well constructed. It rings very brightly. I'm very pleased with the overall workmanship on this import. However, the plastic tailpiece is a serious issue. With its diagonal slant toward the heavier strings, and a simple hinge at the base, it forces the C and D strings to pull far more than they need to, resulting in the bridge migrating off of the centerline. I'm replacing it with a custom bridge made by Montana Lutherie. I love this instrument, and can't seem to put it down. I keep discovering things about this form of tuning. An elevation in the hardware would put this maker in a higher league.stevemills

I have been playing Bajo Sexto/Quinto for over 10 years now. I have played many of different brands of bajo, everything from these mass produced Paracho Elites to the high end handmade Hernandez bajos (I own a Hernandez myself). I must say these are great for BEGINNERS only. By no means are these professional grade bajos, but there are many worse brands selling for much more online and in other retail stores. On the plus side these have solid tops and they really are made in the legendary town of Paracho, Michoacan (not handmade but better than nothing). In case your wondering, Guitar Center does offer Bajo Quintos as well in acoustic and acoustic/electric models. Which is great because pickups and installation on these can get expensive. The thing is, as I've come to learn, that these models are not online but available in select stores along South Texas. If you do pick one up I highly recommend 2 things. First, buy the warranty on these! The string tension on these bajos are super hard and can snap off the bridge or break your bajo at the neck joint. Trust me the warranty will save you a lot of hassle and heartache. Second, lower the string height because these are all made to be super high, take it into your local tech and have them adjust your truss rod and shave the saddle so it will be easier to play.

My guild 1212 arrived from Sweetwater well packaged and on time. Kudos to Sweetwater, they really pay attention to their customers. Their level of customer care is so rare that it almost takes you by surprise. The guitar is very good value for the money, very playable. A 12-string is not my everyday guitar, but this is a good addition to recordings and I can bring it out occasionally on a live gig. The sound is a little more compressed than high end 12-string guitars but very usable and enjoyable to play.
I bought this guitar as a close out from a local dealer. I wanted a 12 string for a reasonable price, as I am a novice player, for the times that I wanted that 12 string jangle! After the first few strums, I knew this guitar would do quite nicely. It has an incredible feeling neck that is very easy to fret and the sound is clear and full. I cannot believe that this guitar is this good for the price. All solid wood body, bridge, and fret board. Very desirable features for a reasonable price. And did I mention that it is a great player? I always read as many reviews as I can before purchasing an instrument unseen. This particular guitar had mostly good reviews. I was trying to find a good 12 string for not a lot of money. A unicorn essentially. I had narrowed my search to Luna and Washburn. I decided on the Luna and it was a tremendous mistake. This guitar, or at least the one that I received is virtually unplayable. Tuned to pitch the bridge has a slight enough gap from the body of the top of the guitar that you can just slip a thin piece of paper under. Visible bowing of the top. It does however stay in tune but the action is quite high and you almost need a C-clamp to bar chord it. Very VERY tough to play up the neck. It is a beautiful guitar aesthetically but upon close inspection there are several small fibers or possible hair of some sort in the finish in a few places.All in all not a good choice. I would recommend looking elsewhere for a 12 string. I'm an experienced musician with over 48 years of professional and semi professional experience. I would definitely not purchase this instrument again. Fire wood kindling would be it's best use now.Jeff
The Luna Heartsong 12 string is a comfortable guitar to play. I'm replacing a Ovation 12 from 1974 that I bought new and enjoyed for many years but the neck finally gave up. The Luna body size is smaller than a dreadnaught but fits nicely in your lap. It has really nice upper and middle range but the lower range is a little weak unless you plug it up through an amp and boost it. Then it sounds much like the folk guitars of the 60's. I tuned it up to standard tune and the neck had a slight bend at the 7th fret and the action was high by the time you got up to the 12th fret. So I tuned it down a full step and it straightened right out and the action went back down to a good level for a 12 string. Just capo it up and you get good normal sound and action level. The wood is good throughout and the craftsmanship is more than adequate for the cost of the instrument. The volume is good for a smaller guitar body. It won't overpower a D-28 but I really didn't expect that. The sustain is good and harmonics chime nicely. In summary, it's a great guitar for the money I paid. I also have a Luna Vista Eagle and really enjoy the sound of Luna's. They won't put Martin out of business, but the impact on the bank account is proportionally less. I am a 50+ year picker and used to play in bands and at church, but now it's just around the house for fun and therapy. I'm happy with the value I got for the amount of money I paid.Warren
This is the 2nd 12 string i have owned. The first was a D12-35 Brazilian 1970. After letting it sit 24 hrs tuned,intonation perfect. Low action Daddario acoustic bronze down to 10. Very easy playing. The quality of this guitar for the price! Don't hestiate to get this twelve string.

I have a vintage Takamini 12 string that I love. It's a beauty. But there is a reason Guild is considered the 12 string king. Clearly they put serious time into designing and making this guitar. You just have to pick up this and immediately are aware the quality, strength, tone of this is on another level. It projects a rich tone unlike anything I've ever heard. The build and action is perfect. It's an extremely easy guitar to play. The neck is ridiculously strong and can handle thick strings but I recommend lighter gauge still. It makes it even more of a gem to play and sounds amazing and you don't need as much truss rod.Scott
Great tone and volume. It has warmth and dimension when played lightly but can produce a tremendous range without ever sounding harsh or overplayed. It is responsive to player input and responds well different styles and techniques of playing. It is the first 12-string that I have ever played that works well with capo and slide. This is a beautiful takamine 12 string ef381sc. this is an older model, thus having faded lighter colors in the binding. never the less, the guitar is in excellent condition. the sound is incredible and will bring harmonious sound to any chord played. the electronics are great and are in full working condition. takamine decal has been added to the pick guard for previous desired customization. new elixir nanoweb strings have been put on this guitar. these string play smoothly and give clear and vibrant sounds. gave the guitar a nice polish and cleaning, shines so bright now! case will be included.

I’ve owned a EF381SC-LH since the early 90s. My being left handed had a lot to do with my decision to purchase it, as up to that point it was the only 12 string I’d ever seen in person, never mind Getting to play one. I was able to tune it by ear and it plays as easily as an electric guitar, so buying it was a no brainer. But over the years I’ve come to appreciated it more for it’s acoustic and amplified tone. It sounds great plugged into my guitar amp, it doesn’t need to go through a PA. It takes the dry New England fall/winter less than 20% humidity while never protruding a fret or needing a truss rod adjustment. I do use two Dampits less than diligently. This 12 string Is one of the best values in the guitar universe, if you have ever wanted one this is the one to get.Stan
I use this guitar as a requinto. (Mexican Guitar) It's just beautiful. I'm at a loss of words with this one the beautiful Gloss Black Finish and the mahogany Takamine logo and Fret markers are just flawless. I would purchase this guitar time after time if i had the money. Oh, and not to mention the electronic pickup that comes factory with it. This guitar was sold as "blemished." I haven't found any blemishes on the guitar. When it arrived it still had the plastic scratch guard on the pickguard, and the strings were still stretching the way brand new strings do. I tried the lower range Takamine 12 string, the GD 30CE, and wasn't happy with the feel of the the neck, string height, or the over all sound of the guitar. So I ordered this one. I know this range of Takamine guitars well because I own an EF 341SC. So far, this guitar has delighted me at every turn. I've not yet played the guitar through a PA system, but plugged into a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface and recording it sounds great: well balanced and rich. The same if not better recording off of a live mic. The neck feels good, the string height is perfect.Ron

Ok so it's Chinese made, but this is why it does not cost 1500. The build quality is good, the setup out of the box was great. Low action and easy to play, even accounting for wider than standard 6 string neck. ( And I don't have long fingers) The electrics work great and the hidden nature of controls is cool, if you don't want a big hole cut in the side of your guitar. Solid woods throughout, with great finish. Weakest point is the tuners, but it holds tune well for a 12 string, which in itself is unheard of!jacol-431
I've wanted a Guild 12-string since college, over over 40 years ago. Back then I had a Lyle Hummingbird clone 12-string, which sounded okay (laminated body, spruce top, Japanese manufacture.) Before I left college I also bought a Guild G-37, blonde, arch back 6-string. I still have both guitars. I loved the sweet, well balanced tone of the G-37, but could never afford one of their 12-strings to mate up with it. Fast forward to now – haven't played any of my guitars in several years, and wanted to get back into it. With the Westerly Collection, a 12 string was now affordable, and all the reviews and videos convinced me that this was the time! My new F2512E Deluxe arrived the other day, and it's stunning! Flawless finish, precision inlays, and oh that tone! Just like the tone of some of my favorite artists from the folk era, like John Denver. Can't wait to try Rocky Mountain High on this baby, but I'll also be learning or relearning some more contemporary tunes as well. Thanks Guild for making an affordable but terrific sounding 12!Mike
Bought this guitar to add to my acoustic collection. For this price my exoectations were low as I own a Martin, Gibson, Ovation Elite and Yamaha Transacoustic all which cost considerbly more so I was abslutely blown away by this guitar. It came perfectly setup out of the box with nice low action-no adjustment needed. The glossy sunburst finish over the flamed maple back and sides is absolutely beautiful-the top and is matched spruce and the back is matched flamed maple. Beautiful shimmery sound and the pickup sounds great plugged into my deluxe reverb amp. The satin neck finish is smooth and the frets are smooth and polished. The quality of this guitar is outstanding-I could not find a flaw in its material or construction anywhere. Nice bright maple jumbo guitar that I am glad I purchased. Don't let the price point and the made in China sticker scare you away-this guitar holds its own against my Martin HD-35, Gibson hummingbird and my other acoustic guitars. I bought a gator jumbo case to keep it safe and the ase fits nicely.DWB

Nachdem ich die per Versand bei mir eingetroffene Guild D-2612CE Deluxe Antique Sunburst erwartungsvoll auspackte, war der erste Gesamteindruck von dem Instrument nach schneller Übersicht erst einmal recht gut. Eine insgesamt saubere und wertige Verarbeitung, und eine tolle Optik. Auf den zweiten Blick wurde mir die recht hohe Saitenlage gewahr. Nach dem späteren Stimmen und Anspielen wurde klar dass ein ungehindertes und entspanntes Greifen ab etwa dem 5. Bund so nicht möglich ist. Für eine Gitarre mit Cutaway, welche also das Spiel bis in die höheren Lagen ermöglichen sollte, ein eher unverständlicher (werkseitiger) Auslieferungszustand. Der Hals war zwar gerade, jedoch die Stegeinlage recht hoch… Da wäre also erst einmal der Gang zum Gitarrenbauer, zwecks Nacharbeiten erforderlich geworden. Zudem wären dort dann auch die Sattelkerben nachzuarbeiten gewesen, weil die Saiten beim Stimmen fürchterlich im Sattel hingen. Ok, grundsätzlich bisher alles machbar und verschmerzbar, wenn sich nicht noch ein weiteres Problem gezeigt hätte. Und zwar die mindere Qualität der Stimmtuner. Ehrlich gesagt, so etwas schlechtes erwarte ich bei einer Gitarre zum Neupreis von unter 100 Euro, aber nicht bei einem Markeninstrument für 640 Euro. Sehr ungleich und schwergängig, wobei einer der Tuner sogar nahezu klemmte und sich eher defekt anfühlte. Also auch bei völlig entspannter Saite, somit unabhängig von der schlecht gefeilten Sattelkerbe. Den Piezo-Tonabnehmer habe ich an einem Digitech RP355 über Kopfhörer getestet und da war nach meinem ersten Eindruck an der Qualität nichts auszusetzen. Fazit: Wäre ich bereit gewesen, die genannten Nacharbeiten in Kauf zu nehmen, einschließlich Austausch der Stimmmechaniken, hätte ich nun sicher eine ansonsten prima verarbeitete Gitarre. Und, natürlich muss meine Erfahrung NICHT auf alle Exemplare dieser Serie zutreffen!! Die Gitarre klingt übrigens auch sehr präsent, schön und ausgewogen, wobei ich den Punch in den Bässen ein wenig vermisse. Was möglicherweise auch an der werkseitigen Bespannung liegen kann. Ich habe mich dazu entschlossen die Gitarre zurück zu senden und ich werde statt dessen eine Zwölfsaitige von einem anderen Hersteller (diesmal aus europäischer Produktion?) auswählen. Abwicklung u. Korrespondenz seitens MUSIC STORE, trotz der pandemischen Bedingungen, wie immer kundenorientiert und top !
