Left Handed V Guitar For Sale (2024 Update)

I have bought several guitars in the 100 to 300 range. I was surprised on the quality of this guitar and felt it was superior to many other brands in this range. From neck joint to fret polish & leveling and finish this guitar is quality except the tuners, however the guitar stays in tune and rarely goes out. The neck is not a Fender Strat or Tele neck so don't expect it to play like one, Its its own thing. It is not wide at the nut so if you need a wide neck at the nut it may not be for you. I find it fine and would not consider it narrow. The neck is slightly fatter than a Squire neck but it is still a C shape and a bit thicker as you go up the neck to higher frets. It plays great. Its set up well for Rock and Blues playing, neck adjusted with a light bow and strings set low (but not to low to buzz). Bridge saddles are stainless steel and this make the strings ring out bright and loud even when not plugged in. Intonation was spot on. Frets are tall enough to allow for string bending (there not super low). As regards pickups this is a personal thing. Pickups are very basic and do okay, one may want to upgrade them to ones own liking other wise there fine.pchapm

I was hesitant when ordering the guitar, but after I received it worry washed away from a single glance. I'm not good at instruments, I never played anything than doing ukulele club when I was a kid so I didn't expect myself to buy a guitar. It's delicate and beautiful, feels great to hold and sounds just as good. I do not regret buying this guitar at all, in fact I'm greatful that I'm able to own it. It's a beautiful guitar and really well made. I bought it for my 9 year old daughter and she loves it. I don't know anything about guitars as I'm a pianist myself, but her guitar teacher was absolutely delighted with it. It's definitely worth paying the extra for the upgrades. I can definitely see it lasting her as it feels really solid, and the knobs and twiddly bits etc feel really solid. I genuinely can't get over how nice it is. I've always wanted an ML and this one looked so beautiful online. It's even better when it's in your hand. Pickups are awesome, nice full tone and great crunch on the distortion side. Love the matte finish on the back of the neck. It has great sustain too, you can feel the tone through the whole guitar when you play a note and I prefer that solid feel when I play. My only two complaints is there are a couple fingerprints under the clear coat on the back. Obviously missed during the QC checks at the factory. But they're barely noticeable and they're on the back. Gives it character to have a workers fingerprints as part of my guitar. The other thing is the frets could've been polished a little better. But when I changed the strings, I took another 30 mins and polished them and that was that. This is my 10th guitar and it's tied for number one favorite. I play it every day and love it. I bought the case for it as well, it's enormous, but great fit and quality.Will

After months of searching for my next guitar I finally settled on the Ibanez Prestige AZ series. As a lifelong strat player, my goal was to find a guitar that married modern features with classic American Strat-like qualities. The obvious choice might be the modern Suhr series, but the pricing on those was too high for me to even entertain exploring. The Ibanez Prestige AZ2402 is the perfect rendition of the featuree I was looking for and after 3 weeks of playing, I could not be happier with this purchase. I was able to secure the guitar for a few hundred less than new, as it was labelled as "minor blemish" on the AMS site. I immediately jumped on it and am ecstatic that I did so. To this day 3 weeks later, I cannot tell what the "blemish" could be. This thing looks, feels, plays and sounds like a brand new guitar. Out of the box the guitar was set up and only just slightly flat of tune. To meet my preference, some minor adjustments were made to the neck and bridge, but the 20 minutes or so that it took to slap some fresh strings on and make the measurements was well worth it. I have even had to do this on product that was brand new before, so I could not even attribute this to the "minor blemish" label. Th pickups are amazing. The coil switch mechanisms are great for added versatility, but the standard humbuckers are excellent and the guitar should still be considered even if you do not plan to use the switching system. The neck is super creamy and clear as a bell, while the bridge is just hot enough for metal and crystal clear enough to jangle some clean chords. The bridge is very solid with comfortable saddles and screams top quality. Tuning stability has not been any sort of issue, even with the use of the bar. I am not an extreme whammy bar user, but I did do some tests on deep dives and the guitar tuning needed no adjustment afterwards. In fact, since I changed the strings and did the setup on the second day, the guitar has not gone out of tune at all. I will highlight that the neck is way thicker than what I was anticipating, but in a few hours I was right at home with the feel. I have played many wizard necks and it simply was not what I was looking for, being accustomed to chunkier modern strat necks. The AZ neck is big, chunkier than the strat but I am now in love with it and this guitar has become my go to #1. Definitely recommend even at the full new price. Sound: The Hyperion pickups do a great job overall and offer up a nice array of different sounds for just about every style of music. When in HH mode it goes from blues to rock and beyond with no problem. When the DynaMix switch is engaged the guitar takes on a completely different characteristic from jangly to warm and has some great tonal options for clean and crunch. I like the versatility of this guitar. It takes a bit of time to get used to all the options and you’ll have to tweak your EQ here and there to avoid them sounding thin or shrill, but I think you'll be able to find quite a few useful tones with this guitar. Features: The Gotoh tuners are sturdy and stable. The ratio is great and they really smooth with no issues at all holding tune. I had never used them before and I had to YouTube how to unlock them lol, but they work great. I prefer locking tuners with the knob on the back, but that's just personal preference. The Gotoh bridge feels spectacular. The titanium saddles are so smooth, no more rubbing your palm raw over rough saddles or screws. I don't use a trem much these days but it does a good job staying in tune even with some dive bombs and flutters. The roasted maple neck is beautiful and has a great smooth feel on the back. The cutaway and contours are very comfortable and the recessed input jack is a thoughtful highlight. And yes, most wireless transmitters will fit. I could not get my Line 6 G10 transmitter to fit in the AZ Premium I had. The Prestige is not as deeply recessed and the transmitter fits just fine. This is my first go around with stainless steel frets but I do like the feel of them and they look good too. Ease of Use: It’s a fairly straightforward guitar to use and maintain. Nothing overly complicated here. Changing strings on a 2 point trem is a breeze compared to Floyd Rose or Edge terms and with the locking tuners you can get through the task in just a few minutes. All the back panels open easily for access to trem springs, input jack, and electronics. The exposed truss rod socket makes adjusting the neck a snap. The included multi-tool is really all you will ever need for quick changes. Quality: This is where everyone will say they have high end made in America PRS, or Custom Shop whatevers and this is just as good or better. They will say that for a good reason because it’s the truth. Fit and finish are spectacular. No gaps or wiggles to be found. Fret work and fingerboard are simply top notch. It feels like it’s been your guitar for years. Electronics are smooth and there is an overall premium feel to this instrument. The hype is real…. FujiGen makes great guitars. Value: Value is a subjective measure. This is an expensive guitar for sure but when compared to similar “modern player” guitars out there the 2402 sits right in the middle price-wise. I feel it’s well within reason for what you get and it’s a good value for your money. I’d rather get a painted body with stainless steel frets than a bookmatched top and standard frets. Manufacturer Support: Haven't needed it The Wow Factor: In my humble opinion the wow factor is somewhat unseen. The story behind the AZ series is quite novel in that Ibanez reached out and met with some of the best and brightest guitarists around today. Over a period of 2 or 3 years and through several prototypes they compiled all of those suggestions into this amazing series of instruments. If all the artists involved really feel that this is their ultimate guitar then that’s pretty wow in my book. Overall: OK first let’s talk about the 800 pound gorilla in the room. That neck!!!! If you have done any research on the AZ series you already know it’s not a Wizard neck, but you may be surprised at how big it is. When I first grabbed it I was thinking I was going to return it, but after playing on it for a few days it felt like home. Like a lot of things about this guitar, the neck is a paradox. It shouldn’t feel this comfortable to someone who prefers Charvel and Jacksons, but it does. It doesn’t feel like a shred neck, but you can play that way remarkably well on it. It has its own unique shape like nothing I’ve played before. If I had to compare it to something I’d say somewhat resembles a Fender American Elite neck but more of a U shape with bigger shoulders. I can say that I don’t notice a huge change when going back and forth with my other guitars. It’s easy to transition between them without a lot of readjustment time to ‘get the feel’. I’ve seen a lot of forum posts asking about how the AZ Prestige stacks up to other instruments. Here’s my opinion. I own a Charvel Pro Mod DK24 HSS with the roasted neck and I really like that guitar a lot. The 2402 is a little lighter and sleeker and has a higher quality feel. I think the Hyperions as humbuckers are more versatile than the Full Shred. The 2402 neck is thicker and feels a little wider vs the DK which is more like a very thin Strat neck. First off the Japanese craftsmanship on these guitars a second to none! Perfect execution in every way! This is my first guitar with a floyd rose and it is well made also no issues with damages, was set up out of the box. Takes some getting use tuning but very easy after you tuned it for the first time. The satin black finish and the bat fretboard inlays are awesome.TJ

These guitars have incredible tone and playability. The Seymour Duncan antiquities is in combination with a very well balanced guitar acoustically, mean that you can really use all of the tone and volume controls on the guitar. I’ve compared it to a standard gibson and I much prefer these!Andrew V.

I've owned over 50 guitars in my lifetime. My main gripe is with MF for sending me a Chinese built guitar when the add stated Korea. This is false advertising and will probably get to me every time I play this thing. If I would have known it was built in China I would not have purchased it. Musicians friend do anything? Crickets… Second gripe: No paperwork, no tools for tremolo, no whammy bar… And when I contacted them they sent me a knock off tremelo bar with a black tip. The original is all chrome. And to top that off, I get an email from Brian L. (customer service agent) stating he's there too help but when I write back, I'm completely ignored. Third gripe: A PRS with unfinished frets. Never thought I'd see this on a PRS but low and behold, China must not think its a problem. I had to finish all the frets smooth. My last guitar purchase from MF. The competition is the same price with so many more benefits. They actually inspect what goes out the door. You won't get that here…James

I want to start by saying I did not get it from GC. I got it from another site where they had a charcoal option. This is a review on the guitar and not the supplier. They say a good guitar isn't necessary how it looks. I also read a lot about "a PRS sounds somewhere between a Les Paul and a Strat." For some reason people hold these sounds as the "gold standard" for musical guitar tone. Now I don't know about that either. What I can tell you is that what makes this a good guitar is how inspiring it is and how creative it's making me play. I don't know how to describe it- maybe a more experience person can weigh in (I've been playing on and off for a few years) but I seem so much more creative in my playing when I'm jamming with this as compared to my Gibson SG standard or Fender Player. At the end of the day, you want a guitar that not only sounds great (which this absolutely does) but also feels great and inspires you to play out of your norm. It does not have as much rock power when distorted when compared to my SG, so if you're looking for a rock heavy guitar, I don't know if this is for you. But it sounds incredible clean (which is how I mostly play). My Player sounds great clean too, but I love the wider and thicker neck profile it has compared to my strat (I got big gorilla hands so I like a chunkier neck). I've only had this for 2 weeks but it's become my grab guitar.Robbie A

Sound: This guitar I by far the smoothest I have ever played. The tone is great and playing leads on it is like no other. Features: Everything about this guitar is perfect from the type of wood to the electonics. Ease of Use: This is an easy guitar to play if you have experience. Beginners will have to get used to it. The jumbo frets is where people will get messed up because of the spacing of the strings. Quality: This guitar will last a lifetime. Value: It is a very good price Manufacturer Support: I did not have to use any of the manufacturing numbers or talk to anyone this guitar was perfect right out of the box. I've wanted one of these for a long time and finally took the plunge. I'm very happy with the sound and construction of this guitar. Note that at least as of early 2018, there is no longer a "KH-602" inlay on the 24th fret. There are two small skull inlays like on the new Purple Sparkle model. The neck is super smooth on this guitar as mentioned by everyone else. The only thing I am having trouble getting used to is the extreme bevel of the fret ends. If I'm not careful it's easy for me to push the low E off the fretboard. Tuning the Floyd Rose bridge takes some patience, but once you get it dialed in it stays locked down. I like it.Rockman

I played on an Ibanez S-series for years and it was my go to for playing metal. I also own an American Standard Fender Stratocaster. I bought this guitar because I love playing Metallica songs and solos just jamming at home. This is by far my favorite guitar to play on now. The extra jumbo frets make soloing a cinch and have improved my capabilities. The heavy metal crunching sound is AWESOME and I only play on a Line 6 with one 12" speaker. My only disappointment is with some buzzing frets. The repair technician at Guitar center told me I have uneven frets, which would need to be repaired to get rid of the buzzing on both E strings, which is still present even after having the guitar set perfectly to spec by Guitar Center. You can't hear the buzzing through the amp, but I expected to receive near perfection from ESP/LTS when paying such as high price tag. QC those frets better before you release the guitars ESP South Korea! Or cut the price!Brosche

Looks great, sounds great, plays great. One of the nicest gig bags I've ever seen. Came out of the box at the store set up and tuned! Fit and finish were perfect and the wine red just pops under stage lighting…unlike the one that was on display…and this is why I don't buy guitars online! Got it home, changed the strings to the gauge I prefer, lowered the string height a smidge, and checked the intonation which was spot on. Took it to a pro jam out in the valley where it got lots of compliments from the other players for it's sound and looks…it's as nice a Les Paul as I've ever played. If you get one like mine you won't regret it! But go to the GC and pick yours out and save yourself some possible grief. You won't regret that either!Stephen

Guitar was not setup properly had to adjust everything. The cheap Vinyl that's glued on otter edge already pealing. When it arrived there was glue seeping from the edges, didnt realize until I touched it & ruined my $$60.00 gold plated strings. I replaced truss rod cover, junk. Knobs dont match/ugly replaced. Nut was junk, not cut right, made my own in my shop. The glue seepage awful. Removed cheap Vinyl treating guitar to remove exess glue, ridiculous. Huge scratch on back chip on rear bottom of neck where vynil was joined. For the 60th anniversary edition… Worst I've ever seen! My original 59 still looks plays and sounds fantastic. Cutting corners using cheap materials and trying to save money is no way to honor guitars from our past. Sound not that great but I'll have to replace some wiring & tuners as well. stuff to get it to sound halfway decent. I play in a Zeppelin tribute band at all the hotels and in Vegas, definitely not stage worthy! What a major disappointment. Way over priced. My appraisal $80.00 and that's being generous. Someone in the band said we should do one of those early 60's songs. I listened to it, and it clearly had that 12-string jangle so characteristic of the period. The best thing for that is a Rickenbacker 12-string, but I wasn't going to spring for that for just a few songs. So I zeroed in on a few possibilities, including this Danelectro, and the Dean Boca and the Ibanez Artcore in about the same price range. But the Dano is of course pretty much the exact same instrument that they made back then, and it is arguably better now than it ever was. It was always an inexpensive brand, but had the distinction that a lot of famous people played them. Therefore it has that "original vibe", like the Rickenbacker, but at a fraction of the price. So the Dano was the obvious choice, and I got this NOS version (No-S = no S or F hole which some other models have and the originals did). They say it is still made from Masonite, but you can't tell since it is completely painted and while the website says it is laminated, it is very light-weight. And it still has that textured plastic tape around the whole perimeter like it's supposed to have. The neck strap button is in an awkward location, so you may have to cut a piece off your strap to make it fit (I did, and I replaced my strap buttons with Schaller black strap locks). These guitars are made in Korea, and the build quality is excellent. I was afraid that I'd have get a setup, but the one I received has a fine neck with a nice rosewood finger board, has low action and plays easily enough (for a 12-string), so I'm going to leave it as is. The sound is great! It has that unique Dano sound because of the two lipstick pickups. It may be too bright when using the bridge pickup only, but the thing is you get used to the tone really quickly, so it may work just fine. It certainly will cut through the mix! It is louder when using both pickups, which is probably what I will use most of the time. In sum, I'm very happy with it! It will do!Willy

I didn't have high hopes for a 12 string electric at this price point, but I also couldn't resist, and WOW – am I completely satisfied! This guitar plays really well. It came with a good set-up and when I fine tuned it all the systems worked as they should. You can even adjust intonation on all twelve strings. Thus far the neck has been straight and easily adjusts to string or environmental conditions – I've given it a slight adjustment once it acclimated to my desert conditions and since it has been stable and true. Of course I should protect my guitar from the elements, and I bought a gig bag, but it stays out pretty much constantly and is used daily. This guitar is tons of fun. It easily does the Byrds style of 12 string sound. Also, I never knew just how many early Beatles riff where on 12 string until I started messing with this guitar. It's a blast. I own a Rick 6 string and have always wanted an electric 12. This Danelectro is great quality and great fun and it more than satisfies my itch (for now) at fraction of the price. You will not regret buying this guitar – it will unlock a new world!Mike

A friend and ex-coworker told me about MK a couple of years ago. I saw him again recently and he asked if I had checked it out. I hadn't but I did this time. Glad I did! I ordered the Patriot Decree in Caramel Burst with a case. Both the guitar and case are beautiful! Excellent instrument and snug case. Plays and sounds like a dream. The only issue I found was when you turn the tone control all the way down on the bridge pickup it kills the volume? An MK rep told me this was normal. I have a LP, a 335 and an SG, all with humbuckers, and none of them suffer from this malady, but I would rarely, if ever, use that setting so I can live with it. Other than that I'm very pleased with this guitar and the usual great experience with AMS.G2

Overall: Well I didn't get to play it because zZounds sent me a customer return with a snapped neck that apparently didn't get checked prior to shipping. But even with just looking at & feeling the guitar it didn't feel worth the money. I'd say the cheapest Epiphone Les Paul Special is a way nicer feeling & looking instrument. I read great reviews that these play and sound good but to me it look and felt like cheap laminate wood grain with an uglier finished than the pictures show. Definitely won't order another one after returning this damaged one.Cory

So I had a hiccup in the beginning with this guitar, but besides the blemishes even though it was a brand new guitar american took lead and made it right with me. As far as the guitar goes well she’s bad out the box. Yes I have different tuners and different strings now but that’s a players choice. What comes in the box is amazing. Rich beautiful highs on bridge and smooth blues tone on the neck and neck with bridge together there’s no stopping that sound. This guitar is simply amazing in my books. I have purchased many of guitars and this one is by far the best out of the box. I would recommend this to a beginner or intermediate player as they don’t have to waste money as it is well equipped out of the box.Gabriel

This is a great guitar for the money. Really good value. As a lefthanded guitar player choices are always very limited so when I started looking for a hybrid guitar with both piezo and magnetic pickups there were not too many choices. I watched a lot of YouTube videos and decided to pull the trigger on this Michael Kelly guitar. First of all, the looks of this guitar are absolutely stunning. I got the spalted maple burst finish and it is gorgeous. It has maple pickup covers/rings and knobs. A very nice touch to add to the acoustic looks. The action was super low out of the box but not a single buzz anywhere on the fretboard. The piezo sound is very nice, equal to pretty much any bridge piezo system out there I've heard. The magnetic pickups are surprisingly nice. Very smooth and clear with a split coil option for even more tonal options. The one issue I had upon arrival is that the piezo pickup was pretty unbalanced across the strings, which is a common problem for this type of pickup. I emailed Michael Kelly and heard back the next day with some suggestions. I was able to get it much more balanced by taking the bridge piece out and shimming it a little. Still not perfect but it's much better. I may put some clay in the slot to even put the pressure. It is string with .010s so increasing the string gauge would probably help with this as well. Overall I am super happy with guitar and have been playing it nonstop since I got it. I've been playing guitar for over 35 years, own 20+ guitars and this one has become a new favorite. When paired with my Line 6 Helix Floor I can easily switch between the acoustic and electric tones with great sounds on both.Jeremy

The switches are easy. The Sound is "In Your Face" You can Play as an Acoustic, or Electric, or both. The quality of sound is full, and bright. Overall: The guitar itself is great. Good- Fit and finish are excellent. Plays well, frets are nice, finish and looks are amazing. Bad- Fret buzz on high E upper frets. Battery for Fishman pickup is dead. Hunbuckers are nice but very mellow- don’t be fooled by the videos, you will need a pedal to get growl out of these. Running through the Orange Micro Terror and there is no bark at all from these. And the Orange gets a nasty tone when you max it out. Worse- zZounds is supposedly known for customer service but nit this time I guess. When I contacted them about the battery and feet buzz, they said the expectation is everyone will take it to a luthier for a set up. Maybe if I was adjusting something or wanted it set differently. I just wanted to be able to play it out of the box and can’t because of the buzz issue. I guess $850 doesn’t buy you much anymore. Not at all happy with zZounds. I hate to rate this low because if it all worked this would be an amazing guitar. Didn’t happen in this instance though.Thad

Hagstrom produces the best semi-hollow and hollowbody guitars not only in the upper-midrange price, but some of the best you will find anywhere, especially their 12 strings. Gretsch used to produce superior guitars in a similar price range, but their playability/action has deteriorated somewhat since 2010, due to proliferation, from the incomparable and tell-tale action they otherwise generate in their models. Hagstrom does not have a compromised playability at mid-range. Hagstrom arguably makes the best semi-hollows around (unless you want a Gibson instead of a car) with fine materials, particularly wood, a rich and ringing full sound from unique signature buckers, and superb quality, decorative, solid appointments that rival anything Rickenbacker produces. Gretsch, Ric, and Hagstrom are the best brands out there for semis and hollows, but only Hagstrom gives you the total package for under a grand. You can never go wrong with their semi-hollows. For this 33 year player and collector, Hagstrom has become THE brand to consider for this guitar type–a player, by the way, who loves Gretsch and Ric, and owns multiple instruments by all three brands. Try one. It's not hit or miss with these Swedish gems, when last I checked. And as an added note of interest, Zappa once played Hagstroms….so there it is.Chris

Overall, I am pleased with the purchase of my Guild Starfire VI. It sells new for $1499 and I bought it used for $750 with just minor scratches on the pick guard, and otherwise no cosmetic defects or problems. But it did need some work. Luckily, I am a guitar tinkerer so I was able to fix the issues and get it playing nicely. Pros: Great looking guitar, with blonde maple finish and gold-plated hardware. And it has a nice sound, too. The attack on the individual notes is nice, and the chords sound well balanced between highs and lows. The adjustment on the individual volume and tone controls makes it easy to dial up the sound you want quickly. The master volume control is nice, allowing me to adjust the overall volume without adjusting the mix between the two pickups. Cons: The major problem with this guitar is the whammy bar, which takes the guitar out of tune as soon as I use it. I found myself constantly tuning it, even after the new strings settled in. I was able to fix this, however. More on this below. Another problem was fret buzz on fret #7 and #10 on the 6th string. However, I was able to fix this, too. More on this below. Finally, I have an issue with the action of the master volume adjustment. It is not linear, when going from 1 to 9 (soft to full volume). Here's the rub: when I adjust the volume from 1 to 7 it doesn't change the volume that much. However, between 7 and 9 it goes from medium loud to very loud. I find myself making minor adjustments between 7 and 9 most of the time. I hardly use the range between 1 and 7. And adjusting the individual volume controls on the pickups to try various combinations did not help. So, I've just learned to live with it. To fix the whammy bar intonation issue, I purchased a replacement bridge on the Internet for $11.00, the kind that has rollers instead of the v-notches on the stock bridge. Then, I routed the strings straight from the back tension bar directly to the bridge, bypassing the middle bar. See my picture and compare to the factory picture. This caused a secondary problem which is that the length of string between the bridge and the tail piece is way long, causing parasitic oscillations. I fixed this by putting in some felt or foam to dampen the strings. Now it works nicely and stays in tune when I whammy. To fix the fret buzz, I used a fret buzz removal tool purchased for $17.00 and it did the trick. After adjusting the new bridge and setting the intonation, the guitar plays nicely and sounds great. These guitars are pretty sweet. Cosmetically, these are well made. Gorgeous finish that honestly, Chinese manufacturers have mastered over the years. There's nothing I would change about the looks. The feel of the neck is perfect. There are some sharp fret ends which is expected from a Chinese made guitar, but not significant. The pickups sounds great clean and amazing when overdriven. Nice low end, but not too dark on the highs. I threw it through a TS-9 and a hard driven Rat distortion and it has a beautiful open KARRANNGGG and not that fuzz you get out of a pickup that can't handle heavy overdrive. This hollow body can handle hard rock. It stays in tune well. They were VERY wise to make their guitars have a stock tusq nut. Most thinking issues are due to lousy stock nut. No plans to change tuners like I usually do, they work well and the pegs are pretty unique, similar to D'angelico pegs. The electronics I would say are adequate, not incredible. The volume pots have a nice sweep, but the tone pots have most of their sweep on the bottom end of travel. The coil tap isn't great, but I've never been impressed with coil any guitar IMO 🤷‍♂️. There's a little popping when you switch pickups or coil tap as well. Overall, I'd say this is a well made guitar and well worth the money. If you are picky, you may wanna have the fret ends filed and swap out the electronics otherwise, great guitar to play.Josh p

The black is a cool see through gloss. You can see the wood grain through the gloss finish. The guitar is of good quality. Much better than I thought it would be.The amp is portable, and can be used for headphones. Take note, that this is an amp that takes batteries (9 volt), or you can get an adapter for it. Only $300 difference from standard and $500 from modern LP… tough choice. I like flame tops for sure but bored of tobacco burst, honey burst, cherry burst and other plain traditional bursts… so leaned towards something more classic modern and bold… so went with translucent cherry. And my back isn't great so wanted something lighter. The coil tapping is nice to have but isn't great… especially compared to my PRS guitars. I'm not sure why Gibson can't figure this out. Again nice to have but wish Gibson could do a better job with this. Coil tapping quality was the same on my studio. I absolutely love the pickups on this guitar… probably some of best humbuckers ever made because of the extra brightness and clarity. I've sold so many of my guitars with humbuckers and gravitated towards single coil guitars because humbuckers are typically muddy in comparison. These 61's are a game changer for me and got me interested in Gibson LPs again. I love the colors of the LP modern too… but not sure what you're are getting extra for the added $500 other than a carved heal joint which I'll never use… and ultra weight relief… which is good if you have a bad back. But I think the electronics are the same with slightly hotter pickups. I guess boils down to which pickups you prefer and color. I love the classic and modern LP colors… again tough choices…but classic is perfect for me… I really love them all for different reasons though.Thad

What we have here is a great American made Gibson Les Paul for a good price. I bought one a year ago and bought a second as a backup/different tuning for stage use. Not that the guitar requires a backup, but strings break and things happen. The 490 pickups are great all around work horses. While I'd recommend different pickups on a per person/per style situation, these are right in my ball park and do what I want them to (goosed with an OD or boost at times). All of the electronics and hardware are fine. Same with fit/finish and the gig bag (which is also very nice). As I said, I have two of these now. The first is a year old and has been through once a week rehearsals and twice a week gigs. The satin finish on the neck settles in nicely with a bit of playing and sweat. It gets slicker over time, shows age, and feels great. Same with the body as well. As with all satin finished guitars, it wont stay that way. Playability on both were perfect out of the bag. No sharp frets and setup/intonation were just to my liking. Now let's compare these Tributes to a Standard. I won't discuss the chambered body versus non nor the maple versus mahogany necks. You really won't notice the difference other than the weight. More weight does not always equal better tone. Here's the thing, I don't notice a difference in tone between the Tribute and Standard….well, not enough to justify the cost difference. I had my doubts when I ordered my first one that it could stand up to my Standard. But I dug it off the bat. To quell my doubts, I had the other guitarist in my band run it through its paces so that I could stand back and hear. That was the Les Paul tone….I was happy. As such, I ordered a second as they were in my stable to stay. Solid guitars with great tone that I will not cry about when they get dinged or messed with at a gig. Now, the Tributes are thinner than the Standards. And of course no bling such as binding or headstock inlays. Switch washer comes in the bag should you choose to install it. But the tone and playability is what you expect from a Les Paul. I would, and have, recommended these to my friends. Great instrument at a great price. BTW, the included case. This was an incredible surprise as I didn't know what to expect. It's a lether "type" exterior, great padding, pink fuzzy interior, LARGE front pocket, and double backpack straps. It's a VERY nice bag! Accessory kit gets you a picture of your guitar being setup, documents that you will probably not read, a few tools, and as of this posting, a nylon guitar strap. While lower in scale compared to the Standard (what with it's hard case, multi tool, and leather strap), it's still rather cool. All in all, these are my go to guitars for stage and studio right now. I have more expensive guitars, but cost doesn't equal tone or feel.Brandon
