Overall: Picked this up from zZounds, recently…and I am totally thrilled and impressed. I am a reformed PRS fanboy…and now believe Schecter matches PRS in every category, and surpasses PRS in value for the money spent.My Toxic Venom C-1 Silver Mountain guitar exhibits: Exceptional build quality. I've had this guitar for roughly 6 months, and I am absolutely blown away by it The locking but hold your strings in tune, for what feels like forever. And if they get out of tune, just use the bridge tuners. I am very pleased with the tone that both the bridge and neck pickups produce, I've never used an active pickup before. But this being my first, I am impressed. The 26.5" scale length is nice, it allows for some lower tunings while keeping the rich and dark tone. With the oem strings, I don't recommend tuning any lower than drop G, I've been experimenting in GCGCFAD, and I've ordered a little heavier strings (2-4 gauges thicker). It is pretty expensive, but the craftsmanship is extraordinary. If you're looking for a beautiful 7-string, with a floyd rose, then this is for youSmartAlec
Playable out of the box…but a slight neck tweaking, raising a few of the saddles, intonating the low E, and lowering the pickups made it VERY nice/playable. The neck it slightly thicker than my "thin" C Apocalypse neck…probably the paint. Out of the box it was OK but had a few slight buzzes and sounded "busy"…too much distortion going on…no definition, no individual note clarity with chords. Now…it's a beauty. Good sustain on all strings…all frets. It sounds "clearer" even when heavily distorted. It's worth the price. I have 3 Schecters now…I bought a Reaper for my lady.Joe Rocker

Overall: Everything was amazing when I got but when I tried to change the strings there was a major quality control issue so be careful. The ball of the strings do not come out the back and thus I can’t even get the factory strings out to change them. I’ve tried everything. Sadly I must return this guitar.
So just got this guitar and am very impressed, I have been playing, collecting, and modding guitars for over a decade and here's where it's at, other guitar manufacturers better take notes. First the neck and frets are smooth, easy to play, and nicely spaced with unparalleled upper fret access. Don't be intimidated by the "X-jumbo" frets if you have smaller hands cause I promise you this C-8 is much easier to play than my Jackson Soloist 8. (not to mention much lighter than the Jackson too) The bridge is very solid and locking tuners are a nice touch and are every bit as solid as the AllParts ones I swap to frequently, that being said you must consider how high of string gauge you're going to want cause the locking tuners can only accommodate so much. Electronics are top notch and the pups on this thing are HOT! easily the hottest pickups I've ever played with and I've used EMGs, SDs, Dimarzios, Fishman, ect. Coil splitting is an awesome feature to come stock on a guitar as well, you just don't see that often anymore. Also something I found interesting is the wiring scheme as the volume pot nearest to the bridge is the bridge pup volume and the one behind it is the neck pup volume, I can understand why cause it makes working the controls easier, but just a bit unusual from what I'm used to. Excellent sustain and tone, very clean response that'll sing, scream, chug, gallop, screech, cry, wail, or whatever else you had in mind. Finally we have the looks, and she looks good! The picture looks quite different than mine as mine has smoother patterns to the silver and more of a grain to it, the silver also reflects stage lighting in a neat way. Add to that the unique fret markers, the glow-in-the-dark dots, and the super clean finishing, and you have one fine machine! Also props on this; mine came out of the box almost perfectly setup and nearly in tune, the only flaw was that the neck pickup jarred loose in shipping, and two seconds with a screwdriver fixes that lol!Vex the mad guitar mage
Overall: Just got this bad boy from you guys. First off the paint job is incredible. Front to back beautiful. The design reminds me of being in a creepy forest like a death metal video. The sonic seducer pickups are clear as hell. The low 8 comes out clear and punchy enough to probably blow the windows out of your house and probably a section of wall too. The coil split knob is great too, tightens up your sound really nicely and clean. The guitar virtually weighs nothing, i thought i had an empty box when i got it lmao. I just got one of these for ~$200 off for being 'open box'. I think someone returned it due to some very minor cosmetic QC issues. The tone knob was a little high, the fretboard was bone dry and looked like they dripped some oil on it but forgot to rub it in, and the finish was a little rough in a couple spots where it meets the binding. So I dropped the knob down, oiled the fretboard, and buffed out the rough edges. Took about 30 minutes. Not even worth taking a star off in my opinion. Now for the thing that matters most, what you're really paying for here: the fretwork. It's fantastic, and stainless steel means it will stay that way. The fret ends were filed and beveled nicely and the neck binding is doing it's job. They aren't boutique shop hemispherical fret ends, but they're very nicely done. Nice and even, well crowned and polished, no sharp spots anywhere. I checked every fret between every string with a fret rocker. There are a couple of frets and a few spots on some frets where I can get it to 'rock' slightly, but it's almost imperceptible. Not enough to noticeably affect action, not really worth spot leveling. This is about as good as it gets on any mass produced guitar made anywhere at any price. Action out of the factory was higher than necessary as expected, but after putting on some slightly heavier strings and adding some relief I was able to drop the action down to ~2/64th of an inch or 0.75mm on both the 1st and 7th strings at the 12th fret. That's absurdly low for a mass produced guitar. I can make some buzz if I try, but not even enough to hear through an amp, and not at all when I'm playing normally. The rest? Locking tuners, fluence moderns, stainless frets; you already know what these are. They all work as expected. Bends are very smooth. The satin neck feels great. Palm muting is extremely easy and comfortable thanks to the flat, angled bridge. Tone is great, plays great. Fantastic for the priceguitaranon
Overall: At first glance this was a great guitar. Love flame tops, and the neck woods are great. But I think the combo of tone woods was a bit too much. There is NO, ZERO, low end to this guitar. I say that with a caveat of comparing it to other guitars. It could just be the particular one I have, but there is lack of warmth in it. Mids are present, and the Fishmans clear up and tighten them, but again no lows. I have to crank the resonance control on my Invective head to get any sorta bump, and doing fast alternate picking on the low string just sounds like scraping the pick on the strings. "Oh it's just your technique dude". If I'm saying that, clearly I've looked into it. So again maybe just the one I have, but I couldn't gel with it.

The slim but long scale neck makes this guitar so easy to play and reach the upper octaves. The sustainiac pickup will scream at very faint volume. Freaking nice!!! I had no idea what I was missing out on. This is now my main guitar out of 44 customs. You can do so much with this guitar. Gotta getcha' one!!!

This is a gorgeous guitar and plays amazingly well. The frets are rounded perfectly with no jagged edges. The frets are polished extremely well. The body is very comfortable, and the Duncan JB and '59 pickups are THE standard in rock pickups especially if you want those 80's rock tones ala VH, Ratt, Crue. BUT the ability to SPLIT the pickups makes this guitar extremely versatile for Blues, Country, and even Jazz if you roll the Tone off to warm it up. The Pro-Mod San Dimas is a sure to be a classic – Charvel guitars from the 80's are still highly sought after and retain their value very well. Not many people like to get rid of them though because they play so well and are made with quality craftsmanship. The Transparent Green Burst finish is gorgeous too. The spoke wheel makes for on the flow truss rod adjustments and it is DOUBLE reinforced – which makes it very resistant to warping. And finally, the Floyd Rose system is not the cheap version. The studs are quality metal which ensures smooth movement, the arm is also closer to the original FR bar which is also nice. TIP: wrap some plumbers tape along the outside of the collar to help close the space between it and the arm to tighten it so it doesn't swing so easily (old school trick 😉 FR bridges are incredibly stable and once you tine them and lock them down they stay in tune VERY well. Get a tremolo stabilizer or block it down to make string changes easier. Get this guitar – the combination of a basswood body, maple neck, jumbo frets, JB and '59 pickups, and a quality Floyd Rose bridge make this THE standard for rock and metal guitars. Sure, there are more expensive guitars that might have a bit more to offer…but for a grand? This is really superb quality and value rolled into one. The pickups are more than great. Seymour Duncans all around. JB in the bridge with no load tone. Cool thing is, if you feel its a tad too bright, just click down to 8 or 7 and it warms up nicely. I was afraid of the no load tone pot at first, but the little click helps tremendously. You know exactly where you are. The neck feels great. Like a thin C shaped Fender. Super fast! HSS config gives you plenty of options. It comes equipped with a Floyd 1000. Not their number one unit, but it is just fine and stays in tune very well. Even after a few dive bombs. I dont generally live in that realm, but nice to know it will hold its tune. Another thing, the guitar came set up just perfect for me. Zero adjustments needed. They're too darn huge and I often wish I knew that before buying this. The block where the neck is bolted on is huge and playing passed the 17th fret is tough. The pickup switch has a "dead spot" when switching so it's possible to go silent when moving the switch. I wish I tried the DK 24 HH FR before buying this because I feel that I would've been way more satisfied. Overall it's a great guitar. Sound: This guitar I by far the smoothest I have ever played. The tone is great and playing leads on it is like no other. I've wanted one of these for a long time and finally took the plunge. I'm very happy with the sound and construction of this guitar. Note that at least as of early 2018, there is no longer a "KH-602" inlay on the 24th fret. There are two small skull inlays like on the new Purple Sparkle model. The neck is super smooth on this guitar as mentioned by everyone else. The only thing I am having trouble getting used to is the extreme bevel of the fret ends. If I'm not careful it's easy for me to push the low E off the fretboard. Tuning the Floyd Rose bridge takes some patience, but once you get it dialed in it stays locked down. I like it.Rockman
I played on an Ibanez S-series for years and it was my go to for playing metal. I also own an American Standard Fender Stratocaster. I bought this guitar because I love playing Metallica songs and solos just jamming at home. This is by far my favorite guitar to play on now. The extra jumbo frets make soloing a cinch and have improved my capabilities. The heavy metal crunching sound is AWESOME and I only play on a Line 6 with one 12" speaker. My only disappointment is with some buzzing frets. The repair technician at Guitar center told me I have uneven frets, which would need to be repaired to get rid of the buzzing on both E strings, which is still present even after having the guitar set perfectly to spec by Guitar Center. You can't hear the buzzing through the amp, but I expected to receive near perfection from ESP/LTS when paying such as high price tag. In stock this guitar deserves no more than 3 stars but I can give it 4 because you can really work with it and upgrade it to become a better sounding instrument. The tremolo is not very good but it works fine and gets the job done. It can go out of tune easily if not set-up properly. The tremolo on mine deteriorated over time and has now been destroyed but that's not a problem for me as I will upgrade it. The pups aren't bad but they aren't good; you get what you pay for. Other than that it is an okay instrument for practicing and learning specially if you're a Metallica fan boy. The thin U-neck is very comfortable and the jumbo frets make it easy to play but there are way better guitars out there for the price.TheHomieDavid
Great build quality, action didnt need much adjustment, frets are not scratchy as often new ones are. Floyd rose trem is fine, but have replaced springs with noiseless ones; top locking nut needed a little fettle so it didnt click at full trem arm depression. Screws on back plate had a little rust, which would suggest at some point it was stored in a damp environment……. but apart these little issues, a great guitar …… now to replace the stock pickups, as they are a little muddy and i like an EMG set…. thats just preference!!!Reviewed by Absolute Music custo

This is a gorgeous guitar and plays amazingly well. The frets are rounded perfectly with no jagged edges. The frets are polished extremely well. The body is very comfortable, and the Duncan JB and '59 pickups are THE standard in rock pickups especially if you want those 80's rock tones ala VH, Ratt, Crue. BUT the ability to SPLIT the pickups makes this guitar extremely versatile for Blues, Country, and even Jazz if you roll the Tone off to warm it up. The Pro-Mod San Dimas is a sure to be a classic – Charvel guitars from the 80's are still highly sought after and retain their value very well. Not many people like to get rid of them though because they play so well and are made with quality craftsmanship. The Transparent Green Burst finish is gorgeous too. The spoke wheel makes for on the flow truss rod adjustments and it is DOUBLE reinforced – which makes it very resistant to warping. And finally, the Floyd Rose system is not the cheap version. The studs are quality metal which ensures smooth movement, the arm is also closer to the original FR bar which is also nice. TIP: wrap some plumbers tape along the outside of the collar to help close the space between it and the arm to tighten it so it doesn't swing so easily (old school trick 😉 FR bridges are incredibly stable and once you tine them and lock them down they stay in tune VERY well. Get a tremolo stabilizer or block it down to make string changes easier. Seymour Duncans all around. JB in the bridge with no load tone. Cool thing is, if you feel its a tad too bright, just click down to 8 or 7 and it warms up nicely. I was afraid of the no load tone pot at first, but the little click helps tremendously. You know exactly where you are. The neck feels great. Like a thin C shaped Fender. Super fast! HSS config gives you plenty of options. It comes equipped with a Floyd 1000. Not their number one unit, but it is just fine and stays in tune very well. Even after a few dive bombs. I dont generally live in that realm, but nice to know it will hold its tune. Another thing, the guitar came set up just perfect for me. Zero adjustments needed. what a great bass! It's beautiful, light, and sonically versatile. the different pickup modes have 3 radically different tones which makes this bass right for lots of situations. I've seen some reviews that mentioned so issues with some fret roughness but mine showed up in perfect condition. I couldn't be happier with the bass. I also want to mention the customer service. I used the chat feature to confirm whether this bass came with a bag or case. the agent let me know that it does not but pointed me to the bundle that includes the bag and they set me up with a price I could not pass up. once I completed the purchase the item was shipped within 90 minutes. This is a great short scale bass. It is a quality instrument. The finish is excellent. Playability straight out of the box was very good. Really good guitar for nirvana type music. Only issue is that you need to set it up for it to be playable but once it's set up it's a great instrument. Pickups are pretty articulate but not to bright either just perfectly balanced. If you get one I recommend to lock the bridge down to improve its tuning stability and sustain. Note it DOES NOT sound like a kc style mustang, it has its own sort of sound to it. Fretboard is pretty nice same with the low radius which I prefer. Overall it's one of my favorite guitars I've ever bought and I cannot recommend it enough if you play grunge and nirvana music.Preston

Probably the most comfortable fretboard I ever touched. Solid electronics and bridge and pickups. Removable whammy bar. Great unique looking design with metallic paint. Bought this due to the fact it looks like a cousin of Aoi's (TheGazettE) official ESP guitar (sold in Japan only) but I have not had any problems with this guitar at all. I bought this because I'm a finger picker, and previously only had an Ovation. This has a little wider neck which helps the fingering with the way I play, and is quite a bit louder than the Ovation, which is nice when you can't amplify the sound. As far as the way it plays, to me it's a toss-up between the Ovation and the Gitane. The tuners are better on the Ovation. I do like it, and don't regret buying it.Press One
Guitar was packed with great care and arrived with all packaging in pristine condition. Guitar shipped somewhat later than expected. Solid spruce top with laminated rosewood sides and back. Wood grain is very attractive (whether the solid or laminated wood) and it is nicely finished. No evidence of sloppy work (sharp frets, excess glue, bad joints etc.). Two 1/8 inch indents on the back the size of a small "snakebite" that came that way from the factory which are probably tool marks. Ebony fingerboard with the wider nut that I prefer. Traditional Selmer-Maccaferri look. I have large hands and find the neck contour quite comfortable. Guitar is really "playable" and I feel it yields real Gypsy Jazz tone. It is a distinctive sound to be sure. Sounds unlike any of my other acoustic guitars. While originally designed to be a rhythm guitar, it also sounds pretty nice for leads. This guitar is surprisingly loud. I haven't attempted to play it though a mic yet and haven't felt the need to. I get some buzzing and the intonation is slightly off when the open strings are compared to their natural harmonics (slightly sharp). Ships with D'Addario 10's which I find too light for my right hand (which is a bit heavy). Had my teacher (who is conservatory trained) try it out. He enjoyed playing it but experienced some buzzing as well (which confirms it isn't just me). Needs a light set up (probably a neck and bridge adjustment). Will try Argentine 11's in the hope the extra tension will reduce buzzing, improve tone, and suit my touch a bit better. Might make it louder too. Represents a very nice value for the money. Good tone and manufacture with a traditional look and reasonable price tag. An all solid wood guitar would be at least twice the price, and I don't know how much of a difference in tone it would make without getting into a really expensive guitar. The Gitane D-500 is called a Jazz/Gypsy Guitar. It sounds absolutely Beautiful, that is the only word which suits it. You can listen to it being played on the Sellers website. I bought it from Kentucky USA, although Import Tax is a Pain in the B*m!!. I paid 644.00p for it but it is an investment which I can pass on to one of my grandchildren should they take up the guitar. I have another 5 different guitars but only 2 Acoustics. Some of my guitar buddies have tried it & they have All Liked it, the tone & resonance from it carries on & on. This is a great guitar for the money. Really good value. As a lefthanded guitar player choices are always very limited so when I started looking for a hybrid guitar with both piezo and magnetic pickups there were not too many choices. I watched a lot of YouTube videos and decided to pull the trigger on this Michael Kelly guitar. First of all, the looks of this guitar are absolutely stunning. I got the spalted maple burst finish and it is gorgeous. It has maple pickup covers/rings and knobs. A very nice touch to add to the acoustic looks. The action was super low out of the box but not a single buzz anywhere on the fretboard. The piezo sound is very nice, equal to pretty much any bridge piezo system out there I've heard. The magnetic pickups are surprisingly nice. Very smooth and clear with a split coil option for even more tonal options. The one issue I had upon arrival is that the piezo pickup was pretty unbalanced across the strings, which is a common problem for this type of pickup. I emailed Michael Kelly and heard back the next day with some suggestions. I was able to get it much more balanced by taking the bridge piece out and shimming it a little. Still not perfect but it's much better. I may put some clay in the slot to even put the pressure. It is string with .010s so increasing the string gauge would probably help with this as well. Overall I am super happy with guitar and have been playing it nonstop since I got it. I've been playing guitar for over 35 years, own 20+ guitars and this one has become a new favorite. When paired with my Line 6 Helix Floor I can easily switch between the acoustic and electric tones with great sounds on both.Jeremy
The switches are easy. The Sound is "In Your Face" You can Play as an Acoustic, or Electric, or both. The quality of sound is full, and bright. Overall: The guitar itself is great. Good- Fit and finish are excellent. Plays well, frets are nice, finish and looks are amazing. Bad- Fret buzz on high E upper frets. Battery for Fishman pickup is dead. Hunbuckers are nice but very mellow- don’t be fooled by the videos, you will need a pedal to get growl out of these. Running through the Orange Micro Terror and there is no bark at all from these. And the Orange gets a nasty tone when you max it out. Worse- zZounds is supposedly known for customer service but nit this time I guess. When I contacted them about the battery and feet buzz, they said the expectation is everyone will take it to a luthier for a set up. Maybe if I was adjusting something or wanted it set differently. I just wanted to be able to play it out of the box and can’t because of the buzz issue. I guess $850 doesn’t buy you much anymore. Not at all happy with zZounds. I hate to rate this low because if it all worked this would be an amazing guitar. Didn’t happen in this instance though.Thad

Sound: I think the Heretic pickups are a nice change to most stock pickups they are hot but sound great dirty. chords ring nicely voicing is excellent for metal and rock. Cleans up well too. But pickups could be a bit more dynamic. Great guitar if metal is all you want to play. Features: Quality control shows on the model I purchased it isn't very good. Gapping in the pocket from neck to body shape upper frets just wasn't pleased to be honest . Overall: I just ordered an elite 6 as well the fit in the neck socket is not good I could fit a good size credit card in there. The high frets were sharp and bit jagged and in need a dressing and crowning. A tool mark on the horn and in the gap of where it bolts on can't tell if it's scratched or cracked. I emailed zZounds today hoping to hear back and provide shipping back at no cost to me. Nice guitar but it has its flaws no doubt surely disappointed.ArmandoArmando
I'm not sure how one customer could have received 4 of these that were all bad…maybe a bit of exaggeration, or someone who just doesn't know how to setup a guitar. I've been playing for 37 years now, and have owned countless Schecter guitars. This one is on par with the best of them. For the money, any other brand in this category cannot compete! The neck plays very well and the fretwork is great! The tuners are stable and the pickups are decent. IMO, locking tuners would be more desirable and the pickups could be a bit more robust and clear as well…hence the 4 stars. However, that said, neither HAVE to be upgraded in order to play this guitar live or in the studio. You may need to tweak your EQ a bit, but that's a small price to pay for this guitar's playability and quality build. Grab one before Biden raises the price!!Shane S.
Overall: Ok, so I love the looks of this guitar! The pictures do not do it justice! The problem is that it had a loose neck bolt/screw. zZounds did great getting it returned, but I had to drive 86 miles round trip to ship it back. Plus spend $16 for packing material which I drove another 18 miles to get. The process is slow, which means I can’t play! It’s frustrating to say the least! Second guitar I bought here that had issues. Honestly, I don’t really know how it got past Schecter QC, but it did. Now I have spent multiple hours to get something right that should have been right from the start! Not to mention waiting. I think I will buy guitars from someone else in the future. Everything else I purchased here has been awesome. So for me, I will say that zZounds has been great to deal with, but until they actually do a multi-point inspection on guitars, I will buy those somewhere else.Joshua
