Left Handed Hollow Body Electric Guitar For Sale (2024 Update)

It's an Ibanez. I am a long time Ibanez fan. Even when they started the Artcore series. I own for PRS CU24's; American Fender Strat Deluxe and Tele; Les Paul elegant and Explorer. Except when I'm playing with our group I'm usually on one of my Ibanez. If they are lower end units like this I expect to change the electronics, nut and tuners. I did the tuners and had planned on installing Seth Lovers. Mean while I put some A4 magnets in the pickups and… NO SETH LOVERS! I love the tone, the responsiveness/sensitivity. See can be smooth as silk with the volume back or nice and crunchy @ 10. Pinch harmonics reach out and grab you in a nice way. Other than the tuning pegs, nut and strap locks she'll stay this way for at least a while. I got her for the color (I'm not into green guitars or fade finishes but she caught my eye for some reason) and what a friend "the Pickle" has become.Mondron

This is an extremely nice guitar, especially for the price. Great action, set-up, and play-ability straight out the box. Humbucker pickups are nice and warm, giving a nice "dark" tone to the guitar (strong bass and mid-tones) to my ears. Good variation of range of tone from the bridge and neck pickups and so is quite versatile. Lovely overtones/ harmonics going through a Blues Driver into an Orange Micro Terror — you can rock with this! — and the guitar combined well with a Roland Jazz Chorus 22 cancelling out some of the brightness of this amp. Quality of components and finish is very good. It's also a light guitar in terms of weight, so it's a practical instrument to play on stage, especially if you have a long gig — and are starting to get on a bit, like me. Of course, it's green, which might put people off, I guess… Then again, it's very eye catching and people won't miss it on stage! After months of searching for my next guitar I finally settled on the Ibanez Prestige AZ series. As a lifelong strat player, my goal was to find a guitar that married modern features with classic American Strat-like qualities. The obvious choice might be the modern Suhr series, but the pricing on those was too high for me to even entertain exploring. The Ibanez Prestige AZ2402 is the perfect rendition of the featuree I was looking for and after 3 weeks of playing, I could not be happier with this purchase. I was able to secure the guitar for a few hundred less than new, as it was labelled as "minor blemish" on the AMS site. I immediately jumped on it and am ecstatic that I did so. To this day 3 weeks later, I cannot tell what the "blemish" could be. This thing looks, feels, plays and sounds like a brand new guitar. Out of the box the guitar was set up and only just slightly flat of tune. To meet my preference, some minor adjustments were made to the neck and bridge, but the 20 minutes or so that it took to slap some fresh strings on and make the measurements was well worth it. I have even had to do this on product that was brand new before, so I could not even attribute this to the "minor blemish" label. Th pickups are amazing. The coil switch mechanisms are great for added versatility, but the standard humbuckers are excellent and the guitar should still be considered even if you do not plan to use the switching system. The neck is super creamy and clear as a bell, while the bridge is just hot enough for metal and crystal clear enough to jangle some clean chords. The bridge is very solid with comfortable saddles and screams top quality. Tuning stability has not been any sort of issue, even with the use of the bar. I am not an extreme whammy bar user, but I did do some tests on deep dives and the guitar tuning needed no adjustment afterwards. In fact, since I changed the strings and did the setup on the second day, the guitar has not gone out of tune at all. I will highlight that the neck is way thicker than what I was anticipating, but in a few hours I was right at home with the feel. I have played many wizard necks and it simply was not what I was looking for, being accustomed to chunkier modern strat necks. The AZ neck is big, chunkier than the strat but I am now in love with it and this guitar has become my go to #1. Definitely recommend even at the full new price. Sound: The Hyperion pickups do a great job overall and offer up a nice array of different sounds for just about every style of music. When in HH mode it goes from blues to rock and beyond with no problem. When the DynaMix switch is engaged the guitar takes on a completely different characteristic from jangly to warm and has some great tonal options for clean and crunch. I like the versatility of this guitar. It takes a bit of time to get used to all the options and you’ll have to tweak your EQ here and there to avoid them sounding thin or shrill, but I think you'll be able to find quite a few useful tones with this guitar. Features: The Gotoh tuners are sturdy and stable. The ratio is great and they really smooth with no issues at all holding tune. I had never used them before and I had to YouTube how to unlock them lol, but they work great. I prefer locking tuners with the knob on the back, but that's just personal preference. The Gotoh bridge feels spectacular. The titanium saddles are so smooth, no more rubbing your palm raw over rough saddles or screws. I don't use a trem much these days but it does a good job staying in tune even with some dive bombs and flutters. The roasted maple neck is beautiful and has a great smooth feel on the back. The cutaway and contours are very comfortable and the recessed input jack is a thoughtful highlight. And yes, most wireless transmitters will fit. I could not get my Line 6 G10 transmitter to fit in the AZ Premium I had. The Prestige is not as deeply recessed and the transmitter fits just fine. This is my first go around with stainless steel frets but I do like the feel of them and they look good too. Ease of Use: It’s a fairly straightforward guitar to use and maintain. Nothing overly complicated here. Changing strings on a 2 point trem is a breeze compared to Floyd Rose or Edge terms and with the locking tuners you can get through the task in just a few minutes. All the back panels open easily for access to trem springs, input jack, and electronics. The exposed truss rod socket makes adjusting the neck a snap. The included multi-tool is really all you will ever need for quick changes. Quality: This is where everyone will say they have high end made in America PRS, or Custom Shop whatevers and this is just as good or better. They will say that for a good reason because it’s the truth. Fit and finish are spectacular. No gaps or wiggles to be found. Fret work and fingerboard are simply top notch. It feels like it’s been your guitar for years. Electronics are smooth and there is an overall premium feel to this instrument. The hype is real…. FujiGen makes great guitars. Value: Value is a subjective measure. This is an expensive guitar for sure but when compared to similar “modern player” guitars out there the 2402 sits right in the middle price-wise. I feel it’s well within reason for what you get and it’s a good value for your money. I’d rather get a painted body with stainless steel frets than a bookmatched top and standard frets. Manufacturer Support: Haven't needed it The Wow Factor: In my humble opinion the wow factor is somewhat unseen. The story behind the AZ series is quite novel in that Ibanez reached out and met with some of the best and brightest guitarists around today. Over a period of 2 or 3 years and through several prototypes they compiled all of those suggestions into this amazing series of instruments. If all the artists involved really feel that this is their ultimate guitar then that’s pretty wow in my book. Overall: OK first let’s talk about the 800 pound gorilla in the room. That neck!!!! If you have done any research on the AZ series you already know it’s not a Wizard neck, but you may be surprised at how big it is. When I first grabbed it I was thinking I was going to return it, but after playing on it for a few days it felt like home. Like a lot of things about this guitar, the neck is a paradox. It shouldn’t feel this comfortable to someone who prefers Charvel and Jacksons, but it does. It doesn’t feel like a shred neck, but you can play that way remarkably well on it. It has its own unique shape like nothing I’ve played before. If I had to compare it to something I’d say somewhat resembles a Fender American Elite neck but more of a U shape with bigger shoulders. I can say that I don’t notice a huge change when going back and forth with my other guitars. It’s easy to transition between them without a lot of readjustment time to ‘get the feel’. I’ve seen a lot of forum posts asking about how the AZ Prestige stacks up to other instruments. Here’s my opinion. I own a Charvel Pro Mod DK24 HSS with the roasted neck and I really like that guitar a lot. The 2402 is a little lighter and sleeker and has a higher quality feel. I think the Hyperions as humbuckers are more versatile than the Full Shred. The 2402 neck is thicker and feels a little wider vs the DK which is more like a very thin Strat neck. First off the Japanese craftsmanship on these guitars a second to none! Perfect execution in every way! Neck, body, frets, tremolo everything just fits together in joyful harmony to make for an awesome axe that practically plays itself. Stainless steel frets will last a life-time and pickups offer a wide array of tone arsenal. If you need just one axe in your collection i would recommend this for sure. I have bought several guitars in the 100 to 300 range. I was surprised on the quality of this guitar and felt it was superior to many other brands in this range. From neck joint to fret polish & leveling and finish this guitar is quality except the tuners, however the guitar stays in tune and rarely goes out. The neck is not a Fender Strat or Tele neck so don't expect it to play like one, Its its own thing. It is not wide at the nut so if you need a wide neck at the nut it may not be for you. I find it fine and would not consider it narrow. The neck is slightly fatter than a Squire neck but it is still a C shape and a bit thicker as you go up the neck to higher frets. It plays great. Its set up well for Rock and Blues playing, neck adjusted with a light bow and strings set low (but not to low to buzz). Bridge saddles are stainless steel and this make the strings ring out bright and loud even when not plugged in. Intonation was spot on. Frets are tall enough to allow for string bending (there not super low). As regards pickups this is a personal thing. Pickups are very basic and do okay, one may want to upgrade them to ones own liking other wise there fine.pchapm

I was hesitant when ordering the guitar, but after I received it worry washed away from a single glance. I'm not good at instruments, I never played anything than doing ukulele club when I was a kid so I didn't expect myself to buy a guitar. It's delicate and beautiful, feels great to hold and sounds just as good. I do not regret buying this guitar at all, in fact I'm greatful that I'm able to own it. It's a beautiful guitar and really well made. I bought it for my 9 year old daughter and she loves it. I don't know anything about guitars as I'm a pianist myself, but her guitar teacher was absolutely delighted with it. It's definitely worth paying the extra for the upgrades. I can definitely see it lasting her as it feels really solid, and the knobs and twiddly bits etc feel really solid. I genuinely can't get over how nice it is. I want to start by saying I did not get it from GC. I got it from another site where they had a charcoal option. This is a review on the guitar and not the supplier. They say a good guitar isn't necessary how it looks. I also read a lot about "a PRS sounds somewhere between a Les Paul and a Strat." For some reason people hold these sounds as the "gold standard" for musical guitar tone. Now I don't know about that either. What I can tell you is that what makes this a good guitar is how inspiring it is and how creative it's making me play. I don't know how to describe it- maybe a more experience person can weigh in (I've been playing on and off for a few years) but I seem so much more creative in my playing when I'm jamming with this as compared to my Gibson SG standard or Fender Player. At the end of the day, you want a guitar that not only sounds great (which this absolutely does) but also feels great and inspires you to play out of your norm. It does not have as much rock power when distorted when compared to my SG, so if you're looking for a rock heavy guitar, I don't know if this is for you. But it sounds incredible clean (which is how I mostly play). My Player sounds great clean too, but I love the wider and thicker neck profile it has compared to my strat (I got big gorilla hands so I like a chunkier neck). I've only had this for 2 weeks but it's become my grab guitar.Robbie A

I was looking for an entry level guitar that was priced right and built well. First of all, how can you go wrong with this beautiful style. It is also very light and wont leave you with back pain after a couple hours of riffing. Tuning keys are solid without any dead spots and dont slip. The guitar stays in tune very well with only slight adjustment needed due to temperature changes. Pick up selector is smooth and not notchy. Havent used the whammy bar and have been playing with studio headphones, so sound is subjective, but as someone that has been playing several instruments for 30 years, I like to think I have a good ear. All in all a great purchase decision.oxouk

Sound: This guitar I by far the smoothest I have ever played. The tone is great and playing leads on it is like no other. I've wanted one of these for a long time and finally took the plunge. I'm very happy with the sound and construction of this guitar. Note that at least as of early 2018, there is no longer a "KH-602" inlay on the 24th fret. There are two small skull inlays like on the new Purple Sparkle model. The neck is super smooth on this guitar as mentioned by everyone else. The only thing I am having trouble getting used to is the extreme bevel of the fret ends. If I'm not careful it's easy for me to push the low E off the fretboard. Tuning the Floyd Rose bridge takes some patience, but once you get it dialed in it stays locked down. I like it.Rockman

I played on an Ibanez S-series for years and it was my go to for playing metal. I also own an American Standard Fender Stratocaster. I bought this guitar because I love playing Metallica songs and solos just jamming at home. This is by far my favorite guitar to play on now. The extra jumbo frets make soloing a cinch and have improved my capabilities. The heavy metal crunching sound is AWESOME and I only play on a Line 6 with one 12" speaker. My only disappointment is with some buzzing frets. The repair technician at Guitar center told me I have uneven frets, which would need to be repaired to get rid of the buzzing on both E strings, which is still present even after having the guitar set perfectly to spec by Guitar Center. You can't hear the buzzing through the amp, but I expected to receive near perfection from ESP/LTS when paying such as high price tag. QC those frets better before you release the guitars ESP South Korea! Or cut the price!Brosche

Never played a seven before (20+ guitar owner) and actually was looking more towards a 6-baritone. But cripes, the sale price and hearing about how nice Jackson was making stuff…? Pulled the trigger. Still not too sure what the heck I am doing, but having a great time with it. Maybe I AM a nu-metal head after all. Regardless, it is fun to play. I was amazed that the fret ends weren't garbage, the they needed a bit of a polish, but were otherwise really nice. With the specs like carved top, compound radius, neck reinforcement (I think?), and maple board, the value is incredible. I'm a sucker for maple board too, really wish I wasn't, but I am and this thing is cool. Am I gonna play it all the time? No. But I might play it every day for a bit. Was really impressed with the pickups as well. Figured it would be a mud bath. Maybe the B gets more lost than I was expecting, but was way more articulate overall that I was expecting. I am assuming ceramics, and zero hangups about that. Cons: The tuning machines are poop. If you change direction, expect a 1/4 turn before anything moves. I mean they are pretty poor. And since it is a seven string, that is a touch more complicated to replace.Josh G

Got this guitar to get back into shredding again. Hadn't played metal since the early 90s and shredding is a good way to keep the arthritis from destroying the joints in my fingers and wrists. For the money, this is an overall great guitar. It does what I want it to and that's what matters. The only real gripe I have is the tuners. This is a guitar I can do a lot of mods on and not worry about lowering the value. For those who are beginners, this guitar is an excellent choice to get started on. For those who want to get into shredding – or get back into it as I am – you can do so without breaking the bank. This instrument is not on par with an American made Fender or Gibson but it will most certainly do the job it's designed to. A great buy!Chris S.

The Jackson JS22 Dinky is the best Sounding, and the best feeling guitar I own. I have used Washburn, Schecter, and a few more brands, but this one felt and sounded the best in my opinion. It has sharkfin inlays, amaranth fretboard, and the Jackson speed neck. My only complaints is that the stock tuners suck, and the pickups could be better, but still good enough for some Slayer songs. But get locking tuners. I will see if I can get some Seymour Duncan Invaders, or EMG H4 Pickups.Kawliga

Overall: I live in a large city and it is still impossible to find a Gibson 335 that plays and sounds great, has no issues or questionable history and comes with a price tag lower than a new one to justify the gamble. As a result, I decided to pull the trigger on a new one and went for the figured, not so much for the flame but for the lower weight and select wood, knowing both my back would thank me and that the guitar would probably be a bit more open and resonant. Block inlays are certainly nice and that may have helped sway my decision too. The 335 arrived with an impeccable setup, right out of the box from the factory. In my 35 years of playing, I’ve never had this happen. I’ve heard of it happening but never to me. I always have to tweak the truss rod to straighten the neck a bit, adjust the bridge action, widen the nut slots and intimate the guitar. Every time. The only adjustment I’ve had to make is lower the pickups a bit for balance, that’s it! Plays like an absolute dream. Here is why you want this guitar rather than a used one—. the neck. None of that weird pencil thin 335 necks from the past or those horrible and slow baseball bat necks… this is perfect. I don’t know what Gibson is doing in Nashville now, but they are making these guitars better than they ever have. Having always been a fan of Classic ‘57 pickups, I read about these T Type pickups being bright. It is true that they are bright, however it works so well in this guitar. Roll back the tone knobs for the mellower and darker sounds, especially when in the neck position for a classic straight-ahead jazz sound, or rolled back in the bridge to fatten up rhythms…but the thing is, roll the tone up for that beautiful bite and thunk in single line solos. I have had bright guitars in the past and there is nothing you can do for them. No matter the pickups or amp, it remains bright and pingy. This is not a bright guitar and has such a beautifully balanced and mellow acoustic voice, the pickups suit it well and I will not replace them. Is it an insane amount of money? Yes. It is. In 10 years when I have blown through $4K many times over and have nothing to show for it, will I still have this 335? Yes. I will. It’s an investment and zZounds makes it possible for someone like me to have something nice. This is an absolutely breathtaking guitar. In playability, sound, and appearance—Gibson is on top of their game these days and I think the future will look back at this era as their new golden age.Michael

Upon opening the case, the case was hard to open, like it didn't fit top cover to bottom cover. The guitar smells of cheap carnauba wax (if you wax your own car you know there are great waxes that smell good) this is not the great smell of the past Gibson guitars I have purchased in the past. There was a light haze to the guitar like the wax was dried but not wiped off completely. The was not common of years pasts Gibson's. Its a very light weight guitar. Nice to hold and even sitting with it to play does not dig into the underarm like a thick acoustic does over time. The ice tea version does look great front to back. I can't tell if it's AAA but its very nice. The head stock look s like it wasn't cut symmetrically compared to the other side or sanded to much. The neck is nice and thick and wider top to bottom which I like for fitting all my fingers on the 1-5 frets for chords. Their is a lot of fret buzz on the G string throughout the range of the neck, It looks like the G string is higher than all the other strings in an attempt to reduce the buzz. I thought these were machine prepped ?? I can most likely (hopefully)make some adjustments for this. The frets feel thinner than my Les Paul's. Not sure if I like this but I can get used to it. The sound on a clean channel is great. I really like the sound. The volume knobs have no volume from 0 – almost 2, they don't change the volume a lot from 3-7, from 8-10 is almost all the volume change. I have never had this experience before. The tone knobs actually lowers the volume from 1-3 which I thought is also strange. I have no experience with a ES model so maybe this is normal. If it is, then I am not sure I would have purchased. I don't regret the purchase but I was expecting perfection for this price.Just Me

I love 335 but played several that I found meh. Preferred the Heritage H-535 I bought to most Gibbies I tried. Until I played that one at my local GC store. Was immediately captivated with the tone. Went back several times, and took the plunge despite the sticker shock. At home, in my amp it sounded even better than in the shop. Absolutely wonderful guitar, that feels and sounds as good and sometimes even better than vintage 60s 335 I tried or owned. I am in love! But what a price tag…Gibson CS is becoming unattainable fast.Stéphane

Have always wanted an esp guitar . Huge fan of Kirk Hammett the guitar looks great and sounds great . Definitely would buy again if I ever needed too . In stock this guitar deserves no more than 3 stars but I can give it 4 because you can really work with it and upgrade it to become a better sounding instrument. The tremolo is not very good but it works fine and gets the job done. It can go out of tune easily if not set-up properly. The tremolo on mine deteriorated over time and has now been destroyed but that's not a problem for me as I will upgrade it. The pups aren't bad but they aren't good; you get what you pay for. Other than that it is an okay instrument for practicing and learning specially if you're a Metallica fan boy. The thin U-neck is very comfortable and the jumbo frets make it easy to play but there are way better guitars out there for the price.TheHomieDavid

Great build quality, action didnt need much adjustment, frets are not scratchy as often new ones are. Floyd rose trem is fine, but have replaced springs with noiseless ones; top locking nut needed a little fettle so it didnt click at full trem arm depression. Screws on back plate had a little rust, which would suggest at some point it was stored in a damp environment……. but apart these little issues, a great guitar …… now to replace the stock pickups, as they are a little muddy and i like an EMG set…. thats just preference!!!Reviewed by Absolute Music custo

Hagstrom produces the best semi-hollow and hollowbody guitars not only in the upper-midrange price, but some of the best you will find anywhere, especially their 12 strings. Gretsch used to produce superior guitars in a similar price range, but their playability/action has deteriorated somewhat since 2010, due to proliferation, from the incomparable and tell-tale action they otherwise generate in their models. Hagstrom does not have a compromised playability at mid-range. Hagstrom arguably makes the best semi-hollows around (unless you want a Gibson instead of a car) with fine materials, particularly wood, a rich and ringing full sound from unique signature buckers, and superb quality, decorative, solid appointments that rival anything Rickenbacker produces. Gretsch, Ric, and Hagstrom are the best brands out there for semis and hollows, but only Hagstrom gives you the total package for under a grand. You can never go wrong with their semi-hollows. For this 33 year player and collector, Hagstrom has become THE brand to consider for this guitar type–a player, by the way, who loves Gretsch and Ric, and owns multiple instruments by all three brands. Try one. It's not hit or miss with these Swedish gems, when last I checked. And as an added note of interest, Zappa once played Hagstroms….so there it is.Chris

Overall, I am pleased with the purchase of my Guild Starfire VI. It sells new for $1499 and I bought it used for $750 with just minor scratches on the pick guard, and otherwise no cosmetic defects or problems. But it did need some work. Luckily, I am a guitar tinkerer so I was able to fix the issues and get it playing nicely. Pros: Great looking guitar, with blonde maple finish and gold-plated hardware. And it has a nice sound, too. The attack on the individual notes is nice, and the chords sound well balanced between highs and lows. The adjustment on the individual volume and tone controls makes it easy to dial up the sound you want quickly. The master volume control is nice, allowing me to adjust the overall volume without adjusting the mix between the two pickups. Cons: The major problem with this guitar is the whammy bar, which takes the guitar out of tune as soon as I use it. I found myself constantly tuning it, even after the new strings settled in. I was able to fix this, however. More on this below. Another problem was fret buzz on fret #7 and #10 on the 6th string. However, I was able to fix this, too. More on this below. Finally, I have an issue with the action of the master volume adjustment. It is not linear, when going from 1 to 9 (soft to full volume). Here's the rub: when I adjust the volume from 1 to 7 it doesn't change the volume that much. However, between 7 and 9 it goes from medium loud to very loud. I find myself making minor adjustments between 7 and 9 most of the time. I hardly use the range between 1 and 7. And adjusting the individual volume controls on the pickups to try various combinations did not help. So, I've just learned to live with it. To fix the whammy bar intonation issue, I purchased a replacement bridge on the Internet for $11.00, the kind that has rollers instead of the v-notches on the stock bridge. Then, I routed the strings straight from the back tension bar directly to the bridge, bypassing the middle bar. See my picture and compare to the factory picture. This caused a secondary problem which is that the length of string between the bridge and the tail piece is way long, causing parasitic oscillations. I fixed this by putting in some felt or foam to dampen the strings. Now it works nicely and stays in tune when I whammy. To fix the fret buzz, I used a fret buzz removal tool purchased for $17.00 and it did the trick. After adjusting the new bridge and setting the intonation, the guitar plays nicely and sounds great. These guitars are pretty sweet. Cosmetically, these are well made. Gorgeous finish that honestly, Chinese manufacturers have mastered over the years. There's nothing I would change about the looks. The feel of the neck is perfect. There are some sharp fret ends which is expected from a Chinese made guitar, but not significant. The pickups sounds great clean and amazing when overdriven. Nice low end, but not too dark on the highs. I threw it through a TS-9 and a hard driven Rat distortion and it has a beautiful open KARRANNGGG and not that fuzz you get out of a pickup that can't handle heavy overdrive. This hollow body can handle hard rock. It stays in tune well. They were VERY wise to make their guitars have a stock tusq nut. Most thinking issues are due to lousy stock nut. No plans to change tuners like I usually do, they work well and the pegs are pretty unique, similar to D'angelico pegs. The electronics I would say are adequate, not incredible. The volume pots have a nice sweep, but the tone pots have most of their sweep on the bottom end of travel. The coil tap isn't great, but I've never been impressed with coil any guitar IMO 🤷‍♂️. There's a little popping when you switch pickups or coil tap as well. Overall, I'd say this is a well made guitar and well worth the money. If you are picky, you may wanna have the fret ends filed and swap out the electronics otherwise, great guitar to play.Josh p

Pros – Compared to a G6120 which it's a copy of, is remarkable value. First time I've seen a lower priced Gretsch with a Bigsby! Well finished, good sized neck, and Intonation spot on. Seems to keep in tune well. Cons – Nut and action had to be taken down a touch. Pickups although set at Gretsch's optimum height seem a little weak and slightly lacking in tone. (Might invest in TV Jones at a later date). Tone control has little variation. Pity the Bigsby and bridge aren't gold plated to match the rest of the guitar. No case included. As it's a big guitar with 3rd party cases apparently unavailable, surely a case should be included, even if it puts the price up.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

I cant believe how good this D'Angelico is. Workmanship is perfect – It looks stunning. I got the vintage tint natural color which looks so beautiful to me, and the flamed maple rims and back are very classy almost 3D looking and really set it off I removed the factory fitted roundwound strings which were quite bright to my ears, and put on a set of flatwound D'Addario Chormes 12's which made it sound so much louder and feel much nicer. Acoustically it is pretty loud. When plugged in, it sounds superb, the Kent Armstrong pick up is simply wonderful – full, clear and fat sounding and it has that big warm classic jazz sound. I tried out a lot of archtops in the same price range and this was way by far the best of them. I almost bought a Ibanez LGB30 which was fantastic, but this one for me was the better of the two and more of the jazz tone I was looking for. It came with a nice hard shell case too. I will be keeping this guitar. Its exceeded my expectations in every way.6 stringed picker

I'm a recent convert to D'Angelico guitars. I had seen them at big box retailers for a couple of years, but always dismissed them as overpriced imports until I saw one heavily discounted and picked it up. I had been looking for an inexpensive jazz box to experiment with and it fit the bill (EXL-1 model), so I took it home. Once I really starting playing it I was blown away by the quality. These are not your typical imports. The fit and finish are better than most and absolutely the equal of (or better than) any American made guitars. Once I was sold on the brand, I started checking out some of their other offerings. I have a custom shop '59 Les Paul reissue, but it's too expensive for me to leave it out as a daily player, so I've been looking for another HH to serve as my daily driver. The SS does everything I want. It's lightweight, but not so light that you get neck dive (like an SG). The neck profile is very comfortable to me – it's smaller than the '59's neck, but thicker than the typical modern C. The pickups on the Excel-level model are very good. I would say they're slightly warmer than a standard PAF but not muddy. The pickups on this Deluxe model are fantastic. Seymour Duncan '59's (you can disregard the mfg.-specific DA prefix – they're the SD '59's you'd get straight from them and you can find plenty of reviews and discussions of them online). They'll give you any tone you want from a humbucker. What sends this Deluxe model into "perfect guitar" territory is the addition of the 6-way switch. You can split any humbucker, but you won't necessarily like the single-coil sound from any humbucker. These could have been designed for splitting. Also, nearly every maker uses push-pull pots for splitting which, for me, is ridiculous. If you happen to want to split coils while playing, it's nearly impossible to pull the pot without turning it some at the same time. The 6-way switch is fast and snappy. When you throw Grover locking tuners and the other premium components into the mix, I can't think of anything that could possibly be done to upgrade this guitar. If you haven't played one – give it shot. You won't regret it.Big Pete

This is just a terrific instrument. It's what we've come to expect from the quality producers in S Korea. The trim is flawless, and the matte midnight was the perfect choice. Intonation is perfect. The sustain stays on or nearly on pitch throughout attenuation. Pots are sensitive/effective from ~2.5 to 10, which in my experience is better than most. The six-way switch locks in distinctly different sounds. I play mostly jazz/blues, so I can't comment on the harder rock side of things, but it's beautiful clean. And IMHO, clean is where the test should be.Delivery was impressive, ordered early Thanksgiving afternoon, delivered Saturday morning. They must have known I was going to buy, and had it on the truck addressed and ready to go when I made the purchase! I use it just for my own enjoyment and growth as a guitarist and musician. I've wanted a top-flight guitar for awhile now. The neck is easily playable, even for a guy like me with relatively small hands. It played well for me right out of the box. It is pricy, but then, you get what you pay for. Guitar shipped UPS. Unboxed it that same day. Was in perfect condition. Gibson hardcase with red velvet interior box candy included a cheap strap, a universal truss rod adjustment tool, literature and a picture of the guitar at the factory. I plugged it in and after a few amp adjustments on the low gain clean side with reverb and delay began to play. The strings are new 10s, it came tuned down for shipping, I tuned it up and played a few licks. The action is low and does not buzz, truss rod is perfect, annotation perfect, finish perfect. The sound is incredibly clear jangly and tasty unlike any of my other guitars. The T type pickups are unbelievably good. I haven't really tried putting heavy gain on it but I did notice the more gain the more effective the tone knobs become. But even clean the tone and volume adjustments are noticeable more than most guitars. Overall I am very happy with the purchase, I believe I will choose this guitar over every other guitar in my collection. I have played every guitar I can get my hands on and the ES 335 with the T type pickups blows every other guitar away. There is no better guitar on the market. We now have 3 Sawtooth guitars. We are extremely pleased with all of them. We have an acoustic, electric, and now this beginner's electric guitar pack. Our youngest son won't put this guitar down. The black is a cool see through gloss. You can see the wood grain through the gloss finish. The guitar is of good quality. Much better than I thought it would be.The amp is portable, and can be used for headphones. Take note, that this is an amp that takes batteries (9 volt), or you can get an adapter for it. Sound: I think the Heretic pickups are a nice change to most stock pickups they are hot but sound great dirty. chords ring nicely voicing is excellent for metal and rock. Cleans up well too. But pickups could be a bit more dynamic. Great guitar if metal is all you want to play. Features: Quality control shows on the model I purchased it isn't very good. Gapping in the pocket from neck to body shape upper frets just wasn't pleased to be honest . Overall: I just ordered an elite 6 as well the fit in the neck socket is not good I could fit a good size credit card in there. The high frets were sharp and bit jagged and in need a dressing and crowning. A tool mark on the horn and in the gap of where it bolts on can't tell if it's scratched or cracked. I emailed zZounds today hoping to hear back and provide shipping back at no cost to me. Nice guitar but it has its flaws no doubt surely disappointed.ArmandoArmando

I'm not sure how one customer could have received 4 of these that were all bad…maybe a bit of exaggeration, or someone who just doesn't know how to setup a guitar. I've been playing for 37 years now, and have owned countless Schecter guitars. This one is on par with the best of them. For the money, any other brand in this category cannot compete! The neck plays very well and the fretwork is great! The tuners are stable and the pickups are decent. IMO, locking tuners would be more desirable and the pickups could be a bit more robust and clear as well…hence the 4 stars. However, that said, neither HAVE to be upgraded in order to play this guitar live or in the studio. You may need to tweak your EQ a bit, but that's a small price to pay for this guitar's playability and quality build. Grab one before Biden raises the price!!Shane S.

Overall: Ok, so I love the looks of this guitar! The pictures do not do it justice! The problem is that it had a loose neck bolt/screw. zZounds did great getting it returned, but I had to drive 86 miles round trip to ship it back. Plus spend $16 for packing material which I drove another 18 miles to get. The process is slow, which means I can’t play! It’s frustrating to say the least! Second guitar I bought here that had issues. Honestly, I don’t really know how it got past Schecter QC, but it did. Now I have spent multiple hours to get something right that should have been right from the start! Not to mention waiting. I think I will buy guitars from someone else in the future. Everything else I purchased here has been awesome. So for me, I will say that zZounds has been great to deal with, but until they actually do a multi-point inspection on guitars, I will buy those somewhere else.Joshua

I had played one of these in a store and liked the feel. After having one for a few weeks, I like it even more. I'm slightly taller than the average guy. Hence my fingers are a bit longer than the average guy. Maybe it is just because the neck seems to get thinner as you get up to the higher notes, but it seems like the neck is a little wider than the rest of my guitars up around the 15th to 24th frets. ("rest of my guitars" include Les Paul, Strat, Ibanez RG550, EVH Wolfgang, and others for reference). Aside from how great the paint job LOOKS, it does not have a gloss coat on it. This is a good thing since the paint job extends up the back of the neck allowing your hand to slide quite freely on the back of the neck. The bridge humbucker is fantastic. It screams the notes clearly with ZERO noise or hum when not playing. I'm not that impressed with the neck humbucker, but that's comparing it to the neck hum on my Les Paul, Carvin, and PRS Custom. AND, for about 90% of the 80s hair band songs you are never using that pickup anyway. The Floyd Rose is great! I got tired of waiting for it to need minor tuning adjustments naturally, so I'm to the point of TRYING to make it go out of tune even slightly and it STILL stays locked in tune. Overall, this guitar is now my GO TO for anything 80s (the biggest chunk of my playing preference).Steve

I was keen to find a 6 string that had a fixed bridge that I could use for covers and so I can retune to alternate tunings easily without having to get the screwdrivers and spending a lot of time retuning like a Locking Tremolo guitar. Thankfully the guitar already had Seymour Duncan pick ups in which are essential to having a aggressive tone but as well allow good expression so this meant it would be a case of getting the guitar out the box and playing rather than buying separate pick ups having to fit them in and so on. As I wanted a guitar that wasn't black or brightly colored the desert sand finish on the guitar really stood out and attracted me. Most of the SLP2's have a great selection of finish's. As for the neck and wood finish it is very smoothly and allows you to get quick access from from end of the neck to the other. Behind each the tuners on the headstock, there is this interesting circular turning device to help lock in the strings. This may help keep it in tune more but I also just attribute it staying in tune due to the general quality of the guitar. I bend the strings a lot for my lead playing and I play very aggressively with thick picks and rhythmically so once I put some heavier strings on (my preference) and configured the bridge saddles with a very small L shaped Allen/hex key the guitar stayed in tune.Tom H.

I got the hotrod yellow. How often do you see a yellow guitar? I also have a $1600 bass and this sounds just as good! I had to do a complete setup which is unusual, adjust the truss rod,saddles,pickup height. It plays and sounds amazing now. Downsides are, you have to buy an adaptor(if you can find one) to use regular strings of your choice. The strap extender which made the bass sit right and more playable cannot be found and is no longer made. Lastly you need to buy a special stand which is also hard to find cause it wont fit on a standard one. I managed to buy the adaptor and the stand from Reverb. As always American musical delivers excellent service and has made many purchases become a reality with the payment system! I no longer shop at music stores all my buisness is done here! The crafstmanship is better then you would expect for the price point. The fit and finnish seems great no sharp edges. The gigbag has a larger pocket and seems a little better quality then the one I got with my GT-Pro years ago. I would recommend a hardshell if you play out a lot with this.Scott G.

I bought this guitar because my back and shoulder have been hurting a lot recently, even with reasonably light guitars. I also tried the Strandberg Boden, but although it was lighter than this I could not justify the huge amount of money and didn't feel it was worth it. So I went with this, the original headless! (or version of) For the money, you can't fault it – I am very happy and play it all the time. So in many ways it deserves 5 stars. There are some bits I don't love though: The volume knob is so close to the strings I knock it a lot. If you are a very precise player this won't be an issue, but if you're going at it Cobain style you will. For the size, it could be lighter. It is still considerably lighter than a "normal" guitar though. The pickups are not great. However, I knew this going in, and with the guitar being so affordable and pickups being the easiest component to replace, this is what I plan on doing. The middle pickup is too close to the strings – I hit it a lot. Again, fixable. The neck profile gets weirdly thinner the closer you get to fret 1. I use this guitar for metal, so I don't mind, but I can't play chords on it, for that I need some girth! I want to end on a high, so here are the things I really like! General playability – it plays really well! A joy. Fretwork – top notch. Tremolo system – Why do more guitars not have the knob at the back to adjust the spring tension? It is fantastic. As is the quick way to lock it off. I've not had a floating trem in years because of the hassle, this is much better. Flip out leg rest – just what you need for seated playing. The look – Marmite for sure, but I love it. Retro yet futuristic.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.
