The relic itself is really just a ton of scratches all over the pieces in an unnatural way. I wanted to make a quality look so I spent extra to get this relic expecting top quality for the price. I was disappointed in how light the muriatic acid relic was. Some parts are nice like the tuners and the saddles. But the bridge body, neck plate, and jack plate just look scratched which left it looking really unbalanced. The tremolo bar doesnt even line up in its hole and wont screw in. I was definitely hoping for better quality for how much I paid. I would recommend doing it yourself with help from YouTube. Im sure it would be better, cheaper, and more controllable.visserluke

I had this on my wish list for a couple of years and after finally getting to try it out at my local Sam Ash, it did not disappoint. Online reviews were consistently good with a few mentions of the strings being coated and how it gave an unusual feel and sound. According to the Michael Kelly website, the strings are D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze, Light, 12-53, so they shouldn't be some off the wall knock offs but my experience over the last few weeks has been that after a few minutes of playing, the tips of my fingers on my fret hand and the palm of my strumming hand turned black. I've never had this happen on any other guitars I have. I tried rotating after 15 minutes between my Jackson, my Strat, my Martin Backpacker and then my Michael Kelly and, every time, after a few minutes of playing the Forte Port, my fingers turned black. I've played a lot of guitars since the 80's (not professionally) and this is a new one on me. Obviously, the strings can be changed but I feel it is worth mentioning because for someone's first guitar, it may be off putting if they are unaware. If I can edit a review, I'll try to add a pic of my fingers (there's no way to make that sound right…) when I get time. That's my two cents…Sean
Overall: I was reluctant to buy this Michael Kelly. I like to try it before I buy it . With that being said , The guitar come it flawless. It was packaged very good . I played for about an hour after opening the box. The action is spot on. It plays and feels more like an electric guitar. Hammer on pull offs pitch bends are perfect. The sustain goes on forever. The neck feels a touch wider than my Martin, but that's a good thing for me. There are no fret buzzes at. It's vert light and comfortable , light weight is a must , I have had shoulder surgery 3 times. The balance and weight are near perfect . Michael Kelly may not have the prestige of Martin. Gibson and such , but as far as the sound and quality build , it simply can not be beat in this price range.Mark
I was looking for an acoustic electric guitar to do some home recording with. I already own 2 dreadnaughts so I was looking for a concert style body. I also wanted something other than a spruce top guitar, as that is what my other two acoustics are made from. I happened across this Michael Kelly model and did a lot of research to see if it would fit my needs. It looked and sounded great. The price was amazing. I was thinking that it was almost too good to be true. I ordered it from AMS and it got to me in 5 days. It's all I had hoped for. Great sound, beautiful guitar, and it was set up well. The action was nice and low just how I like it. No sharp fret ends, like you often find on lesser priced guitars. For $349.00, this thing is a steal. Love it. Thanks AMS for the quick service.

This is a very nice acoustic. I played it a few times before I purchased it. The volume and tone dials are a little awkward to get to since they are in the top portion of the sound hole. The tuner is nice in the bottom of it. I was really surprised by how thin the neck profile is. The soft side case is excellent! For the price is was really astounded! Let me begin by saying that I've owned a number of Martins over the years – my first "good" guitar was a D28 many moons ago. In that time, I've never seen Martin's quality falter and this guitar is no exception. Tone, construction, and playability are all top-notch. Within the past couple of years, Ive found that a mahogany-topped guitar suits my singing voice and the 000 10 was chosen for that fact. This guitar has a darker, woody tone that sits well with the male voice (IMO). It's warmth and articulation work great for the fingerstyle playing I do (but it certainly holds up to a pick as well with no complaints). The 1 3/4 inch nut and performance neck are very comfortable over a long period. I enjoy small guitars (0, 00) but the bottom end can sometimes lack in those sizes. The 000 is a perfect compromise – a tight, comfortable waist but enough width in the lower bout to produce a pleasing bass response. What more can I say? All in all, 5 stars for this guitar!dawilcox

This should have been the standard bridge on the Thinline Cabronita Telecaster, since it matches up with the pickup pole spacings much better than what comes on the guitar. The three mounting holes aren't an exact match, but install the middle screw first and then go into the outside two holes at a slight angle and it will work fine. Also keeps the two E strings farther in from the edges of the fretboard.duhvoodooman
Solid, well built. Just make sure you know this does not fit a vintage style 2 3/16 hardtail guitar. The string hole spacing on both the mounting screws and string holes are not the same. It can be made to work if you are ok with it not being perfect. Otherwise it is a great bridge. I bought this guitar to replace one I have had for almost 50 years. The first was a "Yamaha" type guitar. I couldn't find pins or a bridge to fit and since it was so old I bought a new one. I liked the smaller box on my original guitar. It easier to hold on your lap and play that way. the new strings don't sound that good,kind of tinny, and they go out of tune quickly. Maybe that's just because they are new though? Also many of the plastic pins on the new guitar were cracked right out of the box. I expected the guitar to be close to in tune when I got it but it was way off. Probably that is to be expected with all of the temperature variations I suppose.Tex
The published dimensions are correct. Measured first, then ordered, was a perfect match on thickness and width. Like any replacement of a saddle or nut, requires sanding to get the action perfect. I sanded the bottom, checking against the original, and the resulting action @ 12th fret frequently, until the lowest was about 6/64". Then I used my nut files to cut slots to get the strings down to 4/64" – 5/64". It's a long process, but you need patience to get it perfect. The saddle I replaced was most likely TUSQ, based on the "drop test." So, probably not much improvement on tone, but the original was a 1999 Tacoma DR20, and discolored, so the new one is a nice swap.Marcel

Graphtech has made installation of the preamp kit as easy as possible. Everything came with pin connectors attached to all of the leads and clear instructions. I was using a different output jack than the one that came with the kit, and their instructions covered that change as well. All that was left was connecting the mag pickup volume output to the Acousti-phonic lead and that was that. Just make sure you have room in your control cavity for all of the wires. As you can see in the attached photo. Mine was a tight squeeze.John D.
I rebuilt an Epi Dot installing this system, I run my acoustic sounds out to an acoustic preamp and my electric sounds out to my guitar amp, and it's very very cool. Finally got the guitar sound in my head. If your a strummer like me and an acoustic alone don't do it for you, and neither does an electric, get a semi hollow and install one of these. You'll love it. Put your electric guitar amp on one side of the drums and your acoustic amp on the other and take over the whole rhythm section. Very cool switching between acoustic electric and both. The mid dark switch almost sounds like a phase switch.nobody special

Online reviews were consistently good with a few mentions of the strings being coated and how it gave an unusual feel and sound. According to the Michael Kelly website, the strings are D'Addario EXP16 Coated Phosphor Bronze, Light, 12-53, so they shouldn't be some off the wall knock offs but my experience over the last few weeks has been that after a few minutes of playing, the tips of my fingers on my fret hand and the palm of my strumming hand turned black. I've never had this happen on any other guitars I have. I tried rotating after 15 minutes between my Jackson, my Strat, my Martin Backpacker and then my Michael Kelly and, every time, after a few minutes of playing the Forte Port, my fingers turned black. I've played a lot of guitars since the 80's (not professionally) and this is a new one on me. Obviously, the strings can be changed but I feel it is worth mentioning because for someone's first guitar, it may be off putting if they are unaware. If I can edit a review, I'll try to add a pic of my fingers (there's no way to make that sound right…) when I get time. That's my two cents…Sean
Overall: I was reluctant to buy this Michael Kelly. I like to try it before I buy it . With that being said , The guitar come it flawless. It was packaged very good . I played for about an hour after opening the box. The action is spot on. It plays and feels more like an electric guitar. Hammer on pull offs pitch bends are perfect. The sustain goes on forever. The neck feels a touch wider than my Martin, but that's a good thing for me. There are no fret buzzes at. It's vert light and comfortable , light weight is a must , I have had shoulder surgery 3 times. The balance and weight are near perfect . Michael Kelly may not have the prestige of Martin. Gibson and such , but as far as the sound and quality build , it simply can not be beat in this price range.Mark
I was looking for an acoustic electric guitar to do some home recording with. I already own 2 dreadnaughts so I was looking for a concert style body. I also wanted something other than a spruce top guitar, as that is what my other two acoustics are made from. I happened across this Michael Kelly model and did a lot of research to see if it would fit my needs. It looked and sounded great. The price was amazing. I was thinking that it was almost too good to be true. I ordered it from AMS and it got to me in 5 days. It's all I had hoped for. Great sound, beautiful guitar, and it was set up well. The action was nice and low just how I like it. No sharp fret ends, like you often find on lesser priced guitars. For $349.00, this thing is a steal. Love it. Thanks AMS for the quick service.
